v4l2_subdev_link_validate_get_format() retrieves the remote pad format
depending on the entity type and prints a warning if the entity type is

thus always prints a warning for device node types, even when supported.

Some camera systems cannot operate mt9v022 in normal mode and use
only the snapshot mode. The TechNote for mt9v022 (TN0960) and mt9v024
(TN-09-225) describes required register settings when configuring the
snapshot operation. The snapshot mode requires that certain automatic
functions of the image sensor should be disabled or set to fixed values.
According to the TechNote bit 2 and bit 9 in the register 0x20 must be
set in snapshot mode and unset for normal operation. This applies for
mt9v022 Rev.3 and mt9v024. Add required reg. 0x20 settings dependent on

Since the MT9V022_TOTAL_SHUTTER_WIDTH register is controlled in manual
mode by V4L2_CID_EXPOSURE control, it shouldn't be written directly in
mt9v022_s_crop(). In manual mode this register should be set to the
V4L2_CID_EXPOSURE control value. Changing this register directly and
outside of the actual control function means that the register value
is not in sync with the corresponding control value. Thus, the following
problem is observed:
- setting this control initially succeeds
- VIDIOC_S_CROP ioctl() overwrites the MT9V022_TOTAL_SHUTTER_WIDTH
register
- setting this control to the same value again doesn't
result in setting the register since the control value
was previously cached and doesn't differ
Remove MT9V022_TOTAL_SHUTTER_WIDTH register setting in mt9v022_s_crop()
and add a comment explaining why it is not needed in manual mode.

- Collapse the two HDMI modes into one HDMI mode: when setting up the

needed when selecting a preset.

exported for all the needs yet. The hardware specific functions
are defined in files like intel-iommu.h and amd-iommu.h. Follow
the same standard for omap-iommu.h.
This is needed because we are removing plat and mach includes
for ARM common zImage support. Further work should continue
in the iommu framework context as only pure platform data will
be communicated from arch/arm/*omap*/* code to the iommu

This code should be private to mach-omap2.
The only use for it in for omap1 has been in dmtimer.c
to check for context loss. However, omap1 does not
lose context during idle, so the code is not needed.
Further, omap1 timer has OMAP_TIMER_ALWON set, so omap1
was not hitting omap_pm_get_dev_context_loss_count()

This makes the cleanup on probe failure more consistent with other
drivers. This is similar to what commit
f27b853ea2 ("[media] rc: Fix invalid
free_region and/or free_irq on probe failure") did for some other
drivers.
In addition to making the cleanup more consistent, this also fixes a
case where (on a ene_hw_detect failure) free_region would be called on a
region that was not requested yet.
This last problem was probably introduced by the moving of code in
commit b31b021988 ("[media] ene_ir: Fix
driver initialisation") and commit
9ef449c6b3 ("[media] rc: Postpone ISR
registration").

On gcc, enums are generally unsigned, except if a negative value
is declared. Due to that, warnings may happen there:
drivers/media/dvb-frontends/cx22700.c:142:2: warning: comparison of unsigned expression < 0 is always false [-Wtype-limits]
drivers/media/dvb-frontends/cx22700.c:155:2: warning: comparison of unsigned expression < 0 is always false [-Wtype-limits]

drivers/media/dvb-frontends/mt312.c:560:2: warning: comparison of unsigned expression < 0 is always false [-Wtype-limits]

keep the checks there, casting the value to avoid the warning.

drivers/media/rc/nuvoton-cir.c: In function 'nvt_process_rx_ir_data':
drivers/media/rc/nuvoton-cir.c:623:6: warning: variable 'carrier' set but not used [-Wunused-but-set-variable]
Also, this would be called only if a boolean variable is enabled,
but there's no condition that enables it inside the driver. So,
comment the carrier detection code, as it might be useful later,
and remove the unused glue code.

Note: there is already a mantis_exit at the mantis driver. So,
this should be renamed to mantis_input_exit.
The mantis_input code is currently unused, as it doesn't implement the RC API
right.
Patches for it are sent for discussions, but were never
accepted. So, while this is not fixed, the entire code inside
mantis_input can simply be commented.

expected and where a bitmap of protocols is expected.
Functions like rc_keydown() and functions which add/remove entries to the
keytable want a single protocol. Future userspace APIs would also
benefit from numeric protocols (rather than bitmap ones). Keytables are
smaller if they can use a small(ish) integer rather than a bitmap.
Other functions or struct members (e.g. allowed_protos,
enabled_protocols, etc) accept multiple protocols and need a bitmap.
Using different types reduces the risk of programmer error. Using a
protocol enum whereever possible also makes for a more future-proof
user-space API as we don't need to worry about a sufficient number of
bits being available (e.g. in structs used for ioctl() calls).
The use of both a number and a corresponding bit is dalso one in e.g.
the input subsystem as well (see all the references to set/clear bit when
changing keytables for example).
This patch separate the different usages in preparation for
upcoming patches.
Where a single protocol is expected, enum rc_type is used; where one or more
protocol(s) are expected, something like u64 is used.
The patch has been rewritten so that the format of the sysfs "protocols"
file is no longer altered (at the loss of some detail). The file itself
should probably be deprecated in the future though.

The omap_vout driver tries to set the DSS overlay_info using set_overlay_info()
when the physical address for the overlay is still not configured. This happens
in omap_vout_probe() and vidioc_s_fmt_vid_out().
The calls to omapvid_init(which internally calls set_overlay_info()) are removed
from these functions. They don't need to be called as the omap_vout_device
struct anyway maintains the overlay related changes made. Also, remove the
explicit call to set_overlay_info() in vidioc_streamon(), this was used to set
the paddr, this isn't needed as omapvid_init() does the same thing later.
These changes are required as the DSS2 driver since 3.3 kernel doesn't let you
set the overlay info with paddr as 0.

At the merge, the dependencies were not done right: the menu

to make it generic enough to open for all media devices with

- Some V4L2 compliance fixes applied on a few drivers;
- Several random trivial patches, including several fixes and a few
new board support additions;
Notes:
1) Some Exynos media patches were dependent on some -arm fixes that
got merged on changeset 782cd9e. That's why this pull request is
based that changeset.
2) As promised, I reviewed the pending VB2 DMABUF series.
While setting a test environment, it was noticed that the upstream
support for Samsung Exynos 4 boards (smdk310 and Origen) are
broken upstream, likely due to regressions: both defconfigs are
wrong and regulator settings for both boards are broken. That,
allied with some bug at the dummy regulator driver, causes OOPSes
during boot time.
Long story short: even fixing the above, the proposed patches
OOPSed when running the DMABUF test. Not sure yet if the OOPSes
are due to some other undetected regressions, or due to some bug
on the patches.
Due to the above, DMABUF patches for vb2 got NACKed for 3.7."

- large cleanups and restructuring
- some update to Exynos and da8xx-fb
- removal of the pnx4008 driver (arch removed)
- various other small patches"
Fix up some trivial conflicts (mostly just include line changes, but
also some due to the renaming of the deferred work functions by Tejun).

A long time ago, in v2.4, VM_RESERVED kept swapout process off VMA,
currently it lost original meaning but still has some effects:
| effect | alternative flags
-+------------------------+---------------------------------------------
1| account as reserved_vm | VM_IO
2| skip in core dump | VM_IO, VM_DONTDUMP
3| do not merge or expand | VM_IO, VM_DONTEXPAND, VM_HUGETLB, VM_PFNMAP
4| do not mlock | VM_IO, VM_DONTEXPAND, VM_HUGETLB, VM_PFNMAP
This patch removes reserved_vm counter from mm_struct. Seems like nobody
cares about it, it does not exported into userspace directly, it only
reduces total_vm showed in proc.
Thus VM_RESERVED can be replaced with VM_IO or pair VM_DONTEXPAND | VM_DONTDUMP.
remap_pfn_range() and io_remap_pfn_range() set VM_IO|VM_DONTEXPAND|VM_DONTDUMP.
remap_vmalloc_range() set VM_DONTEXPAND | VM_DONTDUMP.

Since the prt_names() macro is always called with an unsigned index the

The tda18271 datasheet says:
"The image rejection calibration and RF tracking filter
calibration must be launched exactly as described in the
flowchart, otherwise bad calibration or even blocking of the
TDA18211HD can result making it impossible to communicate
via the I2C-bus."
(yeah, tda18271 refers there to tda18211 - likely a typo at their
datasheets)
That likely explains why sometimes tda18271 stops answering. That
is now happening more often on designs with drx-k chips, as the
firmware is now loaded asyncrousnly there.
While the above text doesn't explicitly tell that the I2C bus
couldn't be used by other devices during such initialization,
that seems to be a requirement there.
So, let's explicitly use the I2C lock there, avoiding I2C bus
share during those critical moments.
Compile-tested only. Please test.

Pull media updates from Mauro Carvalho Chehab:
"The first part of the media updates for Kernel 3.7.
This series contain:
- A major tree renaming patch series: now, drivers are organized
internally by their used bus, instead of by V4L2 and/or DVB API,
providing a cleaner driver location for hybrid drivers that
implement both APIs, and allowing to cleanup the Kconfig items and
make them more intuitive for the end user;
- Media Kernel developers are typically very lazy with their duties
of keeping the MAINTAINERS entries for their drivers updated. As
now the tree is more organized, we're doing an effort to add/update
those entries for the drivers that aren't currently orphan;
- Several DVB USB drivers got moved to a new DVB USB v2 core; the new
core fixes several bugs (as the existing one that got bitroted).
Now, suspend/resume finally started to work fine (at least with
some devices - we should expect more work with regards to it);
- added multistream support for DVB-T2, and unified the API for
DVB-S2 and ISDB-S. Backward binary support is preserved;
- as usual, a few new drivers, some V4L2 core improvements and lots
of drivers improvements and fixes.
There are some points to notice on this series:
1) you should expect a trivial merge conflict on your tree, with the
removal of Documentation/feature-removal-schedule.txt: this series
would be adding two additional entries there. I opted to not
rebase it due to this recent change;
2) With regards to the PCTV 520e udev-related breakage, I opted to
fix it in a way that the patches can be backported to 3.5 even
without your firmware fix patch. This way, Greg doesn't need to
rush backporting your patch (as there are still the firmware cache
and firmware path customization issues to be addressed there).
I'll send later a patch (likely after the end of the merge window)
reverting the rest of the DRX-K async firmware request, fully
restoring its original behaviour to allow media drivers to
initialize everything serialized as before for 3.7 and upper.
3) I'm planning to work on this weekend to test the DMABUF patches
for V4L2. The patches are on my queue for several Kernel cycles,
but, up to now, there is/was no way to test the series locally.
I have some concerns about this particular changeset with regards
to security issues, and with regards to the replacement of the old
VIDIOC_OVERLAY ioctl's that is broken on modern systems, due to
GPU drivers change. The Overlay API allows direct PCI2PCI
transfers from a media capture card into the GPU framebuffer, but
its API is crappy. Also, the only existing X11 driver that
implements it requires a XV extension that is not available
anymore on modern drivers. The DMABUF can do the same thing, but
with it is promising to be a properly-designed API. If I can
successfully test this series and be happy with it, I should be
asking you to pull them next week."

"carrier" comes from a get_user() in ir_lirc_ioctl(). We need to test
that it's not zero before using it as a divisor. It might have been
nice to test for this ir_lirc_ioctl() but the mceusb driver uses zero to
disable carrier modulation.
The bug in redrat3 is a little more subtle. The ->carrier is passed to
mod_freq_to_val() which uses it as a divisor.

The plane verification should be done before actually queuing or
dequeuing buffers, so move it out of __fill_v4l2_buffer and __fill_vb_buffer
and call it as a separate step.
This also makes it possible to change the return type of __fill_v4l2/vb_buffer
to void.
The dqbuf case took some special care: before removing a buffer from the
done_list you have to verify that the receiving v4l2_buffer has enough room
for all the planes. The number of planes can differ between buffers due to the
fact that buffers for other formats can be prepared using VIDIOC_PREPARE_BUF.

The V4L2_PIX_FMT_S5C_YUYV_JPG image formats consists of 2 planes, the
first containing interleaved JPEG/YUYV data and the second containing
meta data describing the interleaving method.
The image data is transferred with MIPI-CSI "User Defined Byte-Based
Data 1" type and is captured to memory by FIMC DMA engine.
The meta data is transferred using MIPI-CSI2 "Embedded 8-bit non Image
Data" and it is captured in the MIPI-CSI slave device and copied to
the bridge provided buffer.
To make sure the size of allocated buffers is correct for the subdevs
configuration when VIDIOC_STREAMON ioctl is invoked, an additional
check is added at the video pipeline validation function.
Flag FMT_FLAGS_COMPRESSED indicates the buffer size must be retrieved
from a sensor subdev.

MIPI-CSI has internal memory mapped buffers for the frame embedded
(non-image) data. There are two buffers, for even and odd frames which
need to be saved after an interrupt is raised. The packet data buffers
size is 4 KiB and there is no status register in the hardware where the
actual non-image data size can be read from. Hence the driver copies
whole packet data buffer into a buffer provided by the FIMC driver.
This will form a separate plane in the user buffer.
When FIMC DMA engine is stopped by the driver due the to user space
not keeping up with buffer de-queuing the MIPI-CSIS will still run,
however it must discard data which is not captured by FIMC. Which
frames are actually capture by MIPI-CSIS is determined by means of
the s_tx_buffer subdev callback. When it is not called after a single
embedded data frame has been captured and copied and before next
embedded data frame interrupt occurrs, subsequent embedded data frames
will be dropped.

As spotted by Dan Carpenter <dan.carpenter@oracle.com> (thanks!), we have
improperly used an unsigned variable in a calculation that may result in a
negative number. This may cause an unintended underflow if the interface
frequency of the tuner is > approx. 40MHz.
This patch should resolve the issue, following an approach similar to what is
used in af9013.c.

As em28xx-dvb will always be initialized asynchronously, there's
no need anymore for a separate thread to load the DRX-K firmware.
Fixes a known regression with kernel 3.6 with tda18271 driver

Due to udev-182, the firmware load was changed to be async, as
otherwise udev would give up of loading a firmware.
Add an option to return to the previous behaviour, async firmware

em28xx-dvb, em28xx-alsa and em28xx-ir are typically initialized
asyncrhronously. The exception for it is when those modules
are loaded before em28xx (or before an em28xx card insertion) or
when they're built in.
Make the extentions to always load asynchronously. That allows
having all DVB firmwares loaded synchronously with udev-182.

Pull workqueue changes from Tejun Heo:
"This is workqueue updates for v3.7-rc1. A lot of activities this
round including considerable API and behavior cleanups.
* delayed_work combines a timer and a work item. The handling of the
timer part has always been a bit clunky leading to confusing
cancelation API with weird corner-case behaviors. delayed_work is
updated to use new IRQ safe timer and cancelation now works as
expected.
* Another deficiency of delayed_work was lack of the counterpart of
mod_timer() which led to cancel+queue combinations or open-coded
timer+work usages. mod_delayed_work[_on]() are added.
These two delayed_work changes make delayed_work provide interface
and behave like timer which is executed with process context.
* A work item could be executed concurrently on multiple CPUs, which
is rather unintuitive and made flush_work() behavior confusing and
half-broken under certain circumstances. This problem doesn't
exist for non-reentrant workqueues. While non-reentrancy check
isn't free, the overhead is incurred only when a work item bounces
across different CPUs and even in simulated pathological scenario
the overhead isn't too high.
All workqueues are made non-reentrant. This removes the
distinction between flush_[delayed_]work() and
flush_[delayed_]_work_sync(). The former is now as strong as the
latter and the specified work item is guaranteed to have finished
execution of any previous queueing on return.
* In addition to the various bug fixes, Lai redid and simplified CPU
hotplug handling significantly.
* Joonsoo introduced system_highpri_wq and used it during CPU
hotplug.
There are two merge commits - one to pull in IRQ safe timer from
tip/timers/core and the other to pull in CPU hotplug fixes from
wq/for-3.6-fixes as Lai's hotplug restructuring depended on them."
Fixed a number of trivial conflicts, but the more interesting conflicts
were silent ones where the deprecated interfaces had been used by new
code in the merge window, and thus didn't cause any real data conflicts.
Tejun pointed out a few of them, I fixed a couple more.

This is a pretty significant branch. It's the introduction of the
first multiplatform support on ARM, and with this (and the later
branch) merged, it is now possible to build one kernel that contains
support for highbank, vexpress, mvebu, socfpga, and picoxcell. More
platforms will be convered over in the next few releases.
Two critical last things had to be done for this to be practical and
possible:
* Today each platform has its own include directory under
mach-<mach>/include/mach/*, and traditionally that is where a lot of
driver/platform shared definitions have gone, such as platform data
structures. They now need to move out to a common location instead,
and this branch moves a large number of those out to
include/linux/platform_data.
* Each platform used to list the device trees to compile for its
boards in mach-<mach>/Makefile.boot.
Both of the above changes will mean that there are some merge
conflicts to come (and some to resolve here). It's a one-time move and
once it settles in, we should be good for quite a while. Sorry for the
overhead.

In order to reuse the FIMC-LITE module on Exynos4 and Exynos5
SoC introduce a set of callbacks for the media pipeline control
from within FIMC/FIMC-LITE video node. It lets us avoid symbol

Ensure that unnecessary features are powered down at the end of the
attach() function on attach of the tuner's first instance. If the
configuration requires the loop thru or xtout features, they will
remain enabled.
This must *only* be done after attaching the first instance of the tuner.
If there are multiple instances of the tuner, the bridge driver will need
to maintain power managament by itself.

The VBI capture for the decoder (/dev/vbi8) is special in that it captures
the VBI stream embedded in an MPEG stream that is being decoded.
A lot of the ioctls that would normally be valid have to be disabled since
they make no sense for such a device, and v4l2-compliance will complain
about that.

Various subdevs cleared the full v4l2_sliced_vbi_format struct, when
only the service_set/lines fields should have been cleared.
Due to this the io_size field was wrongly cleared to 0, causing a
v4l2-compliance error.

With a filter function you can control more precisely which controls
are added. This is useful in particular for radio device nodes for
combined TV/Radio cards where you want to show just the radio-specific
controls and not controls like brightness.
