This contains various fixes to the host1x driver as well as a plug for a
leak of kernel pointers to userspace.
A fairly big addition this time around is the Video Image Composer (VIC)
support that can be used to accelerate some 2D and image compositing
operations.
Furthermore the driver now supports FB modifiers, so we no longer rely
on a custom IOCTL to set those.
Finally this contains a few preparatory patches for Tegra186 support
which unfortunately didn't quite make it this time, but will hopefully
be ready for v4.13.

Seeing the kunmap_atomic dma_buf_ops share the same name with a macro

that header.
I'm personally trying to include highmem.h inside scatterlist.h and this
breaks the dma-buf code proper.
Christoph Hellwig suggested [1] renaming it and pushing this patch ASAP.
To maintain consistency I've renamed all four of kmap* and kunmap* to be
map* and unmap*. (Even though only kmap_atomic presently conflicts.)

Add a new IO virtual memory allocation API to allow clients to
allocate non-GEM memory in the Tegra DRM IOMMU domain. This is
required e.g. for loading client firmware when clients are attached
to the IOMMU domain.
The allocator allocates contiguous physical pages that are then
mapped contiguously to the IOMMU domain using the iova_domain
library provided by the kernel. Contiguous physical pages are
used so that the same allocator works also when IOMMU support
is disabled and therefore devices access physical memory directly.

Add FB modifiers to allow user-space to specify that a surface is in one
of the two tiling formats supported by Tegra chips, and add support in
the tegradrm driver to handle them properly. This is necessary for the
display controller to directly display buffers generated by the GPU.
This feature is intended to replace the dedicated IOCTL enabled
by TEGRA_STAGING and to provide a non-staging alternative to that
solution.

Each open file descriptor can have any number of contexts associated
with it. To differentiate between these contexts a unique ID is required
and back when these userspace interfaces were introduced, in commit
d43f81cbaf ("drm/tegra: Add gr2d device"), the pointer to the context
structure was deemed adequate. However, this leaks information about
kernel internal memory to userspace, which can potentially be exploited.
Switch the context parameter to be allocated from an IDR, which has the
added benefit of providing an easy way to look up a context from its ID.

The vblank hooks in struct drm_driver are deprecated and only meant for
legacy drivers. For modern drivers with DRIVER_MODESET flag, the hooks
in struct drm_crtc_funcs should be used instead.
As the result, the wrapper functions tegra_drm_xxx get killed
completely, and tegra_dc_xxx are filled into struct drm_crtc_funcs as

The drm_mm range manager claimed to support top-down insertion, but it
was neither searching for the top-most hole that could fit the
allocation request nor fitting the request to the hole correctly.
In order to search the range efficiently, we create a secondary index
for the holes using either their size or their address. This index
allows us to find the smallest hole or the hole at the bottom or top of
the range efficiently, whilst keeping the hole stack to rapidly service
evictions.

Instead of receiving the num_crts as a parameter, we can read it
directly from the mode_config structure. I audited the drivers that
invoke this helper and I believe all of them initialize the mode_config
struct accordingly, prior to calling the fb_helper.
I used the following coccinelle hack to make this transformation, except
for the function headers and comment updates. The first and second
rules are split because I couldn't find a way to remove the unused
temporary variables at the same time I removed the parameter.

First -misc pull for 4.11:
- drm_mm rework + lots of selftests (Chris Wilson)
- new connector_list locking+iterators
- plenty of kerneldoc updates
- format handling rework from Ville
- atomic helper changes from Maarten for better plane corner-case handling
in drivers, plus the i915 legacy cursor patch that needs this
- bridge cleanup from Laurent
- plus plenty of small stuff all over
- also contains a merge of the 4.10 docs tree so that we could apply the
dma-buf kerneldoc patches
It's a lot more than usual, but due to the merge window blackout it also
covers about 4 weeks, so all in line again on a per-week basis. The more
annoying part with no pull request for 4 weeks is managing cross-tree
work. The -intel pull request I'll follow up with does conflict quite a
bit with -misc here. Longer-term (if drm-misc keeps growing) a
drm-next-queued to accept pull request for the next merge window during
this time might be useful.
I'd also like to backmerge -rc2+this into drm-intel next week, we have
quite a pile of patches waiting for the stuff in here.

<drm/drm_crtc.h> used to define most of the in-kernel KMS API. It has
now been split into separate files for each object type, but still
includes most other KMS headers to avoid breaking driver compilation.
As a step towards fixing that problem, remove the inclusion of
<drm/drm_encoder.h> from <drm/drm_crtc.h> and include it instead where
appropriate. Also remove the forward declarations of the drm_encoder and
drm_encoder_helper_funcs structures from <drm/drm_crtc.h> as they're not
needed in the header.
<drm/drm_encoder.h> now has to include <drm/drm_mode.h> and contain a
forward declaration of struct drm_encoder in order to allow including it
as the first header in a compilation unit.

drm_atomic_state has a complicated single owner model that tracks the
single reference from allocation through to destruction on another
thread - or perhaps on a local error path. We can simplify this tracking
by using reference counting (at a cost of a few more atomics). This is
even more beneficial when the lifetime of the state becomes more
convoluted than being passed to a single worker thread for the commit.

dma_buf may live a long time, longer than the last direct user of the

the object code from disappearing), but there is no reference to the

Drivers may set the NO_DISABLE_AFTER_MODESET flag in the 'flags' parameter
of the helper drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes() if the relevant display
controllers(e.g., IPUv3 for imx-drm) require to disable a CRTC's planes
when the CRTC is disabled. The helper would skip the ->atomic_disable
call for a plane if the CRTC of the old plane state needs a modesetting
operation. Of course, the drivers need to disable the planes in their CRTC
disable callbacks since no one else would do that.

Window uses shared stride for UV planes and tegra_dc_window struct

The MIPI DSI output on Tegra SoCs requires some external logic to
calibrate the MIPI pads before a video signal can be transmitted. This
MIPI calibration logic requires to be powered on while the MIPI pads are
being used, which is currently done as part of the DSI driver's probe
implementation.
This is suboptimal because it will leave the MIPI calibration logic
powered up even if the DSI output is never used.
On Tegra114 and earlier this behaviour also causes the driver to hang
while trying to power up the MIPI calibration logic because the power
partition that contains the MIPI calibration logic will be powered on
by the display controller at output pipeline configuration time. Thus
the power up sequence for the MIPI calibration logic happens before
it's power partition is guaranteed to be enabled.
Fix this by splitting up the API into a request/free pair of functions
that manage the runtime dependency between the DSI and the calibration
modules (no registers are accessed) and a set of enable, calibrate and
disable functions that program the MIPI calibration logic at points in
time where the power partition is really enabled.
While at it, make sure that the runtime power management also works in
ganged mode, which is currently also broken.

The SOR driver for Tegra requires the SOR power partition to be enabled.
Now that Tegra supports the generic PM domain framework we manage the
SOR power partition via this framework. However, the sequence for
gating/ungating the SOR power partition requires that the SOR reset is
asserted/de-asserted at the time the SOR power partition is
gated/ungated, respectively. Now that the reset control core assumes
that resets are exclusive, the Tegra generic PM domain code and the SOR
driver cannot request the same reset unless we mark the reset as shared.
Sharing resets will not work in this case because we cannot guarantee
that the reset will be asserted/de-asserted at the appropriate time.
Therefore, given that the Tegra generic PM domain code will handle the
resets, do not request the reset in the SOR driver if the SOR device has
a PM domain associated.

In order to use the HDA codec to forward audio data to the HDMI codec it
needs the ELD that is parsed from the monitor's EDID.
Also implement an interoperability mechanism between the HDA controller
and the HDMI codec. This uses vendor-defined scratch registers to pass
data from the HDMI codec driver to the HDMI driver (that implements the
receiving end of the HDMI codec). A custom format is used to pass audio
sample rate and channel count to the HDMI driver.

drm: Rework vblank-wait handling to allow interrupt reduction.
to stay backwards-compatible with old UMS code that didn't even tell
the kernel when it did a modeset, so that the kernel could
save/restore vblank counters. At worst this means vblanks will be
somewhat funky on a setup that very likely no one still runs.
So let's just nuke it.
Plan B would be to set it unconditionally in drm_vblank_init for kms
drivers, instead of in each driver separately. So if this patch breaks
anything please only restore the hunks in drmP.h and drm_irq.c, plus
add a check for DRIVER_MODESET in drm_vblank_init.

Commit d2307dea14 ("drm/atomic: use connector references (v3)") added
reference counting for DRM connectors and this caused a crash when
exercising system suspend on Tegra114 Dalmore.
The Tegra DSI driver implements a Tegra specific function,
tegra_dsi_connector_duplicate_state(), to duplicate the connector state
and destroys the state using the generic helper function,
drm_atomic_helper_connector_destroy_state(). Following commit
d2307dea14 ("drm/atomic: use connector references (v3)") there is
now an imbalance in the connector reference count because the Tegra
function to duplicate state does not take a reference when duplicating
the state information. However, the generic helper function to destroy
the state information assumes a reference has been taken and during
system suspend, when the connector state is destroyed, this leads to a
crash because we attempt to put the reference for an object that has
already been freed.
Fix this by calling __drm_atomic_helper_connector_duplicate_state() from
tegra_dsi_connector_duplicate_state() to ensure that we take a reference
on a connector if crtc is set. Note that this will also copy the
connector state a 2nd time, but this should be harmless.
By fixing tegra_dsi_connector_duplicate_state() to take a reference,
although a crash was no longer seen, it was then observed that after
each system suspend-resume cycle, the reference would be one greater
than before the suspend-resume cycle. Following commit d2307dea14
("drm/atomic: use connector references (v3)"), it was found that we
also need to put the reference when calling the function
tegra_dsi_connector_reset() before freeing the state. Fix this by
updating tegra_dsi_connector_reset() to call the function
__drm_atomic_helper_connector_destroy_state() in order to put the
reference for the connector.

Seems I lied in my last drm-misc pull request and suddenly there's a big
pile of random stuff. Boris dug out Thierry's drm-trivial branch and
resubmitted everything since that branch didn't really work out.
On top of that Nicolas' changes to drm_dev_set_unique - this might
conflict with new driver pulls (I double checked and current drm-next
should be fine), so please beware. The -next/-fixes conflict in vmwgfx
will change slightly with this here too.

This adds support for the version of host1x found on Tegra210 SoCs. It
also makes use of the new atomic suspend/resume functionality to bring

Other than that it's mostly small fixes and cleanups, with some prep-

The following code pattern exists in some DRM drivers:
ddev = drm_dev_alloc(&driver, parent_dev);
drm_dev_set_unique(ddev, dev_name(parent_dev));
(Sometimes dev_name(ddev->dev) is used, which is the same.)
As suggested in
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2015-December/096441.html,
the unique name of a new DRM device can be set as dev_name(parent_dev)
when parent_dev is not NULL (vgem is a special case).

With drivers supporting runtime pm it's generally not a good idea to
touch the hardware when it's off. Add an option to the commit_planes
helper to support this case.
Note that the helpers already add all planes on a crtc when a modeset
happens, hence plane updates will not be lost if drivers set this to
true.
v2: Check for NULL state->crtc before chasing the pointer. Also check
both old and new crtc if there's a switch. Finally just outright
disallow switching crtcs for a plane if the plane is in active use, on
most hardware that doesn't make sense.
v3: Since commit_planes(active_only = true) is for enabling things
only after all the crtc are on we should only look at the new crtc to
decide whether to call the plane hooks - if the current CRTC isn't on
then skip. If the old crtc (when moving a plane) went down then the
plane should have been disabled as part of the pipe shutdown work
already. For which there's currently no helper really unfortunately.
Also move the check for wether a plane gets a new CRTC assigned while
still in active use out of this patch.
v4: Rebase over exynos changes.

This contains a couple of mostly fixes for issues that have crept up in
recent versions of linux-next. One issue is that DP AUX transactions of
more than 4 bytes will access the wrong FIFO registers and hence become
corrupt. Another fix is required to restore functionality of Tegra20 if
using the GART. The current code expects the IOMMU aperture to be the
complete 4 GiB address space, whereas the GART on Tegra20 only provides
a 128 MiB aperture. One more issue with IOMMU support is that on 64-bit
ARM, swiotlb is the default IOMMU implementation backing the DMA API. A
side-effect of that is that when dma_map_sg() is called to flush caches
(yes, this is a bit of a hack, but ARM does not provide a better API),
swiotlb will immediately run out of memory because its bounce buffer is
too small to make a framebuffer.
Finally I've included a mostly cosmetic fix that stores register values
in u32 rather than unsigned long to avoid sign-extension issues on 64-
bit ARM. This is only a precaution since it hasn't caused any issues
(yet).

Without these, there can be off-by-one errors during vblank

Use cases like rotation require these hooks to have some context so they
know how to prepare and cleanup the frame buffer correctly.
For i915 specifically, object backing pages need to be mapped differently
for different rotation modes and the driver needs to know which mapping to
instantiate and which to tear down when transitioning between them.

Commit eab3bbeffd ("drm/atomic: Add drm_crtc_state->active") added the
field to track the DPMS state. However, the Tegra driver was in modified
in parallel and subclasses the CRTC atomic state, so needed to duplicate
the code in the atomic helpers. After the addition of the active_changed
field it became out of sync and doesn't reset it when duplicating state.
This causes a full modeset on things like page-flips, which will in turn

Recent changes in the clock framework have caused a behavioural change
in that clocks that have not had their rate set explicitly will now be
reset to their initial rate (or 0) when the clock is released. This is
triggered in the deferred probing path, resulting in the clock running
at a wrong frequency after the successful probe.
This can be easily fixed by setting the rate explicitly rather than by
relying on the implicit rate inherited by the parent.

In order to transition output drivers to using the struct tegra_output

The output layer was initially designed to help reduce the amount of
code duplicated in output drivers. An unfortunate side-effect of that
was that it turned into a midlayer and it became difficult to make the
output drivers work without bending over backwards to fit into the
midlayer.
This commit starts to convert the midlayer into a helper library by
exporting most of the common functions so that they can be used by the
output drivers directly. Doing so will allow output drivers to reuse
common code paths but more easily override them where necessary.

them are triple-buffered. The ASSEMBLY shadow copy is latched intto the

the ASSEMBLY copy is first latched into the ARM copy.
Latching into the ACTIVE copy happens immediately if the controller is

only a very basic skeleton. Turn that implementation into a more full-
fledged bus to support proper probe ordering and power management.
Note that the bus infrastructure needs to be available before any of the
drivers can be registered. This is automatically ensured if all drivers
are built as loadable modules (via symbol dependencies). If all drivers
are built-in there are no such guarantees and the link order determines
the initcall ordering. Adjust drivers/gpu/Makefile to make sure that the

Add support for sending MIPI DSI command packets from the host to a
peripheral. This is required for panels that need configuration before
they accept video data.

Implement ganged mode support for the Tegra DSI driver. The DSI host
controller to gang up with is specified via a phandle in the device tree
and the resolved DSI host controller used for the programming of the
ganged-mode registers.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
In preparation for adding ganged-mode support, this commit splits out
the tegra_dsi_set_timeout() function so that it can be reused for the
slave DSI controller.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
Add support for DC-driven command mode. This is a mode where the video
stream sent by the display controller is packed into DCS command packets
(write_memory_start and write_memory_continue) by the DSI controller. It
can be used for panels with a remote framebuffer and is useful to save
power when used with a dynamic refresh rate (not yet supported by the
driver).
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
For command mode panels, the DSI controller needs to be enabled and
configured so that panel drivers can send commands prior to the video
stream being enabled.
Move code from the monolithic output enable/disable functions into
smaller, reusable units to allow more fine-grained control over the
controller state.

The driver wasn't even attempting to do any cleanup when probing failed.
Fix this by releasing any resources acquired up to the point of failure
and putting the device back into the original state (reset, clocks off).
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
DSI panels can always be hotplugged via the DSI bus' attach/detach
infrastructure, so unconditionally mark the connector hotpluggable.
While at it, also make sure that when a panel is detached the connector
is marked unconnected before calling into the DRM hotplug helpers to
reflect the correct state.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
The common clock framework will take care of preparing and enabling the
parent of the DSI clock automatically.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
In preparation for supporting command mode panels, don't disable the
clock when the output is disabled. The output will be enabled only after
the panel has been programmed in command mode, so the clock must always
remain on.
As a side-effect, pad calibration now only needs to be done at driver
probe time, since neither power nor controller state will go away before
driver removal. While at it, use a 32-bit variable to store register
content because the registers are 32-bit even on 64-bit Tegra.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
Rather than hardcoding them as macros, make the host and video FIFO
depths parameters so that they can be more easily adjusted if a new
generation of the Tegra SoC changes them.
While at it, set the depth of the video FIFO to the correct value of
1920 *words* rather than *bytes*.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
Previously the panel and output were only enabled on encoder->dpms(). If
userspace called dpms on before doing a modeset, the driver would get into
a state where the connector had a dpms state of ON, but the encoder and output
were not enabled (because the encoder is not yet attached to the connector).
Subsequent dpms ON calls are ignored b/c the connector's state already matches
the desired state.
This patch enables/disables the panel and output on modeset as well, so we
can catch the above case.

Both display controllers are in their own power partition. Currently the
driver relies on the assumption that these partitions are on (which is
the hardware default). However some bootloaders may disable them, so the
driver must make sure to turn them back on to avoid hangs.

Just a bit of OCD cleanup on headers - this function isn't the core
interface any more but just a helper for drivers who haven't yet
transitioned to universal planes. Put the declaration at the right
spot and sprinkle necessary #includes over all drivers.
Maybe this helps to encourage driver maintainers to do the switch.

This merge window brings a good size of cleanups on various
platforms. Among the bigger ones:
* Removal of Samsung s5pc100 and s5p64xx platforms. Both of these have
lacked active support for quite a while, and after asking around nobody
showed interest in keeping them around. If needed, they could be
resurrected in the future but it's more likely that we would prefer
reintroduction of them as DT and multiplatform-enabled platforms

* Move of some of the Tegra platform code (PMC, APBIO, fuse, powergate)

Tegra20 and Tegra30 both required the buffer line stride to be aligned
on 8 byte boundaries. Tegra114 and Tegra124 increased the alignment to
64 bytes. Introduce a parameter to specify the alignment requirements
for each display controller and round up the pitch of newly allocated
framebuffers appropriately.

Job submission currently relies on the fact that struct drm_tegra_reloc
and struct host1x_reloc are the same size and uses a simple call to the
copy_from_user() function to copy them to kernel space. This causes the
handle to be stored in the buffer object field, which then needs a cast
to a 32 bit integer to resolve it to a proper buffer object pointer and
store it back in the buffer object field.
On 64-bit architectures that will no longer work, since pointers are 64
bits wide whereas handles will remain 32 bits. This causes the sizes of
both structures to because different and copying will no longer work.
Fix this by adding a new function, host1x_reloc_get_user(), that copies
the structures field by field.
While at it, use substructures for the command and target buffers in
struct host1x_reloc for better readability. Also use unsized types to
make it more obvious that this isn't part of userspace ABI.
