host1x command buffer patching requires that the buffer object can be
mapped into kernel address space. However, the recent addition of IOMMU
support did not account for this requirement. Therefore host1x engines
cannot be used if IOMMU is enabled.
This patch implements kmap, kunmap, mmap and munmap functions to host1x
buffer objects.

Memory for the brick clock is allocated by devm_kzalloc(), so there is
no need here to free it explicitly.
The only function that calls tegra_clk_sor_brick_register() is the probe
function and it correctly checks and handles the return value, which, on
failure, will cause devm_ allocated memory to be freed automatically.

drm_atomic_state has a complicated single owner model that tracks the
single reference from allocation through to destruction on another
thread - or perhaps on a local error path. We can simplify this tracking
by using reference counting (at a cost of a few more atomics). This is
even more beneficial when the lifetime of the state becomes more
convoluted than being passed to a single worker thread for the commit.

dma_buf may live a long time, longer than the last direct user of the

the object code from disappearing), but there is no reference to the

Drivers may set the NO_DISABLE_AFTER_MODESET flag in the 'flags' parameter
of the helper drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes() if the relevant display
controllers(e.g., IPUv3 for imx-drm) require to disable a CRTC's planes
when the CRTC is disabled. The helper would skip the ->atomic_disable
call for a plane if the CRTC of the old plane state needs a modesetting
operation. Of course, the drivers need to disable the planes in their CRTC
disable callbacks since no one else would do that.

The MIPI DSI output on Tegra SoCs requires some external logic to
calibrate the MIPI pads before a video signal can be transmitted. This
MIPI calibration logic requires to be powered on while the MIPI pads are
being used, which is currently done as part of the DSI driver's probe
implementation.
This is suboptimal because it will leave the MIPI calibration logic
powered up even if the DSI output is never used.
On Tegra114 and earlier this behaviour also causes the driver to hang
while trying to power up the MIPI calibration logic because the power
partition that contains the MIPI calibration logic will be powered on
by the display controller at output pipeline configuration time. Thus
the power up sequence for the MIPI calibration logic happens before
it's power partition is guaranteed to be enabled.
Fix this by splitting up the API into a request/free pair of functions
that manage the runtime dependency between the DSI and the calibration
modules (no registers are accessed) and a set of enable, calibrate and
disable functions that program the MIPI calibration logic at points in
time where the power partition is really enabled.
While at it, make sure that the runtime power management also works in
ganged mode, which is currently also broken.

The SOR driver for Tegra requires the SOR power partition to be enabled.
Now that Tegra supports the generic PM domain framework we manage the
SOR power partition via this framework. However, the sequence for
gating/ungating the SOR power partition requires that the SOR reset is
asserted/de-asserted at the time the SOR power partition is
gated/ungated, respectively. Now that the reset control core assumes
that resets are exclusive, the Tegra generic PM domain code and the SOR
driver cannot request the same reset unless we mark the reset as shared.
Sharing resets will not work in this case because we cannot guarantee
that the reset will be asserted/de-asserted at the appropriate time.
Therefore, given that the Tegra generic PM domain code will handle the
resets, do not request the reset in the SOR driver if the SOR device has

drm: Rework vblank-wait handling to allow interrupt reduction.
to stay backwards-compatible with old UMS code that didn't even tell
the kernel when it did a modeset, so that the kernel could
save/restore vblank counters. At worst this means vblanks will be
somewhat funky on a setup that very likely no one still runs.
So let's just nuke it.
Plan B would be to set it unconditionally in drm_vblank_init for kms
drivers, instead of in each driver separately. So if this patch breaks
anything please only restore the hunks in drmP.h and drm_irq.c, plus
add a check for DRIVER_MODESET in drm_vblank_init.
Stumbled over this in a discussion on irc with Chris.

Commit d2307dea14 ("drm/atomic: use connector references (v3)") added
reference counting for DRM connectors and this caused a crash when
exercising system suspend on Tegra114 Dalmore.
The Tegra DSI driver implements a Tegra specific function,
tegra_dsi_connector_duplicate_state(), to duplicate the connector state
and destroys the state using the generic helper function,
drm_atomic_helper_connector_destroy_state(). Following commit
d2307dea14 ("drm/atomic: use connector references (v3)") there is
now an imbalance in the connector reference count because the Tegra
function to duplicate state does not take a reference when duplicating
the state information. However, the generic helper function to destroy
the state information assumes a reference has been taken and during
system suspend, when the connector state is destroyed, this leads to a
crash because we attempt to put the reference for an object that has
already been freed.
Fix this by calling __drm_atomic_helper_connector_duplicate_state() from
tegra_dsi_connector_duplicate_state() to ensure that we take a reference
on a connector if crtc is set. Note that this will also copy the
connector state a 2nd time, but this should be harmless.
By fixing tegra_dsi_connector_duplicate_state() to take a reference,
although a crash was no longer seen, it was then observed that after
each system suspend-resume cycle, the reference would be one greater
than before the suspend-resume cycle. Following commit d2307dea14
("drm/atomic: use connector references (v3)"), it was found that we
also need to put the reference when calling the function
tegra_dsi_connector_reset() before freeing the state. Fix this by
updating tegra_dsi_connector_reset() to call the function
__drm_atomic_helper_connector_destroy_state() in order to put the
reference for the connector.

Rename dma_*_writecombine() to dma_*_wc(), so that the naming
is coherent across the various write-combining APIs. Keep the
old names for compatibility for a while, these can be removed
at a later time. A guard is left to enable backporting of the
rename, and later remove of the old mapping defines seemlessly.
Build tested successfully with allmodconfig.
The following Coccinelle SmPL patch was used for this simple
transformation:
@ rename_dma_alloc_writecombine @
expression dev, size, dma_addr, gfp;
@@
-dma_alloc_writecombine(dev, size, dma_addr, gfp)
+dma_alloc_wc(dev, size, dma_addr, gfp)

@@
-dma_mmap_writecombine(dev, vma, cpu_addr, dma_addr, size)

We also keep the old names as compatibility helpers, and
guard against their definition to make backporting easier.

With drivers supporting runtime pm it's generally not a good idea to
touch the hardware when it's off. Add an option to the commit_planes
helper to support this case.
Note that the helpers already add all planes on a crtc when a modeset
happens, hence plane updates will not be lost if drivers set this to
true.
v2: Check for NULL state->crtc before chasing the pointer. Also check
both old and new crtc if there's a switch. Finally just outright
disallow switching crtcs for a plane if the plane is in active use, on
most hardware that doesn't make sense.
v3: Since commit_planes(active_only = true) is for enabling things
only after all the crtc are on we should only look at the new crtc to
decide whether to call the plane hooks - if the current CRTC isn't on
then skip. If the old crtc (when moving a plane) went down then the
plane should have been disabled as part of the pipe shutdown work
already. For which there's currently no helper really unfortunately.
Also move the check for wether a plane gets a new CRTC assigned while
still in active use out of this patch.
v4: Rebase over exynos changes.

more than 4 bytes will access the wrong FIFO registers and hence become
corrupt. Another fix is required to restore functionality of Tegra20 if
using the GART. The current code expects the IOMMU aperture to be the
complete 4 GiB address space, whereas the GART on Tegra20 only provides
a 128 MiB aperture. One more issue with IOMMU support is that on 64-bit

side-effect of that is that when dma_map_sg() is called to flush caches
(yes, this is a bit of a hack, but ARM does not provide a better API),
swiotlb will immediately run out of memory because its bounce buffer is
too small to make a framebuffer.
Finally I've included a mostly cosmetic fix that stores register values

Without these, there can be off-by-one errors during vblank

Recent changes in the clock framework have caused a behavioural change
in that clocks that have not had their rate set explicitly will now be
reset to their initial rate (or 0) when the clock is released. This is
triggered in the deferred probing path, resulting in the clock running
at a wrong frequency after the successful probe.
This can be easily fixed by setting the rate explicitly rather than by
relying on the implicit rate inherited by the parent.

and applied during modeset. In that way the modeset no longer needs to
perform any checking but simply program values into registers.

This allows the clock setup to be separated from the clock programming
and better matches the expectations of the atomic modesetting where no
code paths must fail during modeset.

Switch out the regular plane helpers for the atomic plane helpers. Also
use the default atomic helpers to implement the ->atomic_check() and
->atomic_commit() callbacks. The driver now exclusively uses the atomic
interfaces.

Hook up the default ->reset() and ->atomic_duplicate_state() helpers.
This ensures that state objects are properly created and framebuffer
reference counts correctly maintained.

Implement initial atomic state handling. Hook up the CRTCs, planes' and
connectors' ->atomic_destroy_state() callback to ensure that the atomic
state objects don't leak.
Furthermore the CRTC now implements the ->mode_set_nofb() callback that
is used by new helpers to implement ->mode_set() and ->mode_set_base().
These new helpers also make use of the new plane helper functions which
the driver now provides.

Commit 9c0127004f ("drm/tegra: dc: Add powergate support") changed the
driver's ->probe() implementation to deassert the module reset, and with
there being nobody else to assert it until ->remove() there is no need
to deassert again later on.

The tegra_output midlayer is now completely gone and output drivers use
it purely as a helper library.

the functions can all return void instead.

Implement encoder and connector within the eDP driver itself using the
Tegra output helpers rather than using the Tegra output as midlayer. By
doing so one level of indirection is removed and output drivers become
more flexible while keeping the majority of the advantages provided by
the common output helpers.

This is a small helper that performs the basic steps required by all
output drivers to prepare the display controller for use with a given
encoder.

In order to transition output drivers to using the struct tegra_output
as a helper rather than midlayer, make this callback optional. Instead
drivers should implement the equivalent as part of ->mode_fixup(). For
the conversion to atomic modesetting a new callback ->atomic_check()
should be implemented that updates the display controller's state with
the corresponding parent clock, rate and shift clock divider.

The output layer was initially designed to help reduce the amount of
code duplicated in output drivers. An unfortunate side-effect of that
was that it turned into a midlayer and it became difficult to make the
output drivers work without bending over backwards to fit into the
midlayer.
This commit starts to convert the midlayer into a helper library by
exporting most of the common functions so that they can be used by the
output drivers directly. Doing so will allow output drivers to reuse
common code paths but more easily override them where necessary.

The DRM core should take care of disabling all unneeded planes, so there
is no need to do this explicitly.

This structure will be extended using non-framebuffer related callbacks
in subsequent patches, so it should move to a more central location.

When disabling the display controller, stop it and wait for it to become
idle. Doing so ensures that no further accesses to the framebuffer occur
and the buffers can be safely unmapped or freed.

Previously output drivers would all stop the display controller in their
disable path. However with the transition to atomic modesetting the
display controller needs to be kept running until all planes have been
disabled so that software can properly determine (using VBLANK counts)
when it is safe to remove the framebuffers associated with the planes.
Moving this code into the display controller's disable path also gets
rid of the duplication of this into all output drivers.

We can't save two values to the IRQ flags at the same time so the IRQs
are not enabled at the end. This kind of bug is easy to miss in testing
if the function is normally called with IRQs disabled so we wouldn't
enable IRQs anyway.

Most of the display controller's registers are double-buffered, a few of
them are triple-buffered. The ASSEMBLY shadow copy is latched intto the
ACTIVE copy for double-buffered registers. For triple-buffered registers
the ASSEMBLY copy is first latched into the ARM copy.
Latching into the ACTIVE copy happens immediately if the controller is
inactive. Otherwise the latching happens on the next frame boundary. The
latching of the ASSEMBLY into the ARM copy happens immediately. Latching
is controlled by a set of *_ACT_REQ and *_UPDATE bits in the
DC_CMD_STATE_CONTROL register.

windows). By default this is set to a light blue, so set it to black to
