12c683e12c drm: bridge: Pass drm_display_info to drm_bridge_funcs .mode_valid()
When validating a mode, bridges may need to do so in the context of a
display, as specified by drm_display_info. An example is the meson
dw-hdmi bridge that needs to consider the YUV 4:2:0 output format to
perform clock calculations.

Bridges that need the display info currently retrieve it from the
drm_connector created by the bridge. This gets in the way of moving
connector creation out of bridge drivers. To make this possible, pass
the drm_display_info to drm_bridge_funcs .mode_valid().

Changes to the bridge drivers have been performed with the following
coccinelle semantic patch and have been compile-tested.

1e8a6ce918 drm/bridge: anx6345: set correct BPC for display_info of connector
Some drivers (e.g. sun4i-drm) need this info to decide whether they
need to enable dithering. Currently driver reports what panel supports
and if panel supports 8 we don't get dithering enabled.

Hardcode BPC to 6 for now since that's the only BPC
that driver supports.

drm/bridge: analogix_dp: Split bind() into probe() and real bind()
Analogix_dp driver acquires all its resources in the ->bind() callback,
what is a bit against the component driver based approach, where the
driver initialization is split into a probe(), where all resources are
gathered, and a bind(), where all objects are created and a compound
driver is initialized.

Extract all the resource related operations to analogix_dp_probe() and
analogix_dp_remove(), then call them before/after registration of the
device components from the main Exynos DP and Rockchip DP drivers. Also
move the plat_data initialization to the probe() to make it available for
the analogix_dp_probe() function.

This fixes the multiple calls to the bind() of the DRM compound driver
when the DP PHY driver is not yet loaded/probed:

2be30d34a3 drm/bridge: analogix-anx6345: fix set of link bandwidth
Current code tries to store the link rate (in bps, which is a big
number) in a u8, which surely overflow. Then it's converted back to
bandwidth code (which is thus 0) and written to the chip.

The code sometimes works because the chip will automatically fallback to
the lowest possible DP link rate (1.62Gbps) when get the invalid value.
However, on the eDP panel of Olimex TERES-I, which wants 2.7Gbps link,
it failed.

As we had already read the link bandwidth as bandwidth code in earlier
code (to check whether it is supported), use it when setting bandwidth,
instead of converting it to link rate and then converting back.

a25b988ff8 drm/bridge: Extend bridge API to disable connector creation
Most bridge drivers create a DRM connector to model the connector at the
output of the bridge. This model is historical and has worked pretty
well so far, but causes several issues:

- It prevents supporting more complex display pipelines where DRM
connector operations are split over multiple components. For instance a
pipeline with a bridge connected to the DDC signals to read EDID data,
and another one connected to the HPD signal to detect connection and
disconnection, will not be possible to support through this model.

- It requires every bridge driver to implement similar connector
handling code, resulting in code duplication.

- It assumes that a bridge will either be wired to a connector or to
another bridge, but doesn't support bridges that can be used in both
positions very well (although there is some ad-hoc support for this in
the analogix_dp bridge driver).

In order to solve these issues, ownership of the connector should be
moved to the display controller driver (where it can be implemented
using helpers provided by the core).

Extend the bridge API to allow disabling connector creation in bridge
drivers as a first step towards the new model. The new flags argument to
the bridge .attach() operation allows instructing the bridge driver to
skip creating a connector. Unconditionally set the new flags argument to
0 for now to keep the existing behaviour, and modify all existing bridge
drivers to return an error when connector creation is not requested as
they don't support this feature yet.

The change is based on the following semantic patch, with manual review
and edits.

06c4a9c2ae drm/panel: decouple connector from drm_panel
To facilitate moving connector creation to display drivers,
decouple the drm_connector from drm_panel.

This patch adds a connector argument to drm_panel_get_modes().

All users of drm_panel_get_modes() already had the connector
available, so updating users was trivial.

With this patch drm_panel no longer keeps a reference to the drm_connector.

drm/bridge: anx6345: Fix compilation breakage on systems without CONFIG_OF
The driver assumes that the platform uses the device tree, and thus relies
on some fields (of_node) being declared in some structures (drm_bridge).

This isn't true for all platforms, so make sure we can only compile the
ANX6345 on platforms where DT support is selected.

drm/bridge: fix anx6345 compilation for v5.5
The anx6345 driver originally was copied from anx78xx.c, which has meanwhile
seen a few changes. In particular, the removal of drm_dp_link helpers and the
discontinuation to include drm_bridge.h from drm_crtc.h breaks compilation
in linux-5.5. Apply equivalents of these changes to anx6345.c.

fcd70cd36b drm: Split out drm_probe_helper.h
Having the probe helper stuff (which pretty much everyone needs) in
the drm_crtc_helper.h file (which atomic drivers should never need) is
confusing. Split them out.

To make sure I actually achieved the goal here I went through all
drivers. And indeed, all atomic drivers are now free of
drm_crtc_helper.h includes.

v2: Make it compile. There was so much compile fail on arm drivers
that I figured I'll better not include any of the acks on v1.

v3: Massive rebase because i915 has lost a lot of drmP.h includes, but
not all: Through drm_crtc_helper.h > drm_modeset_helper.h -> drmP.h
there was still one, which this patch largely removes. Which means
rolling out lots more includes all over.

This will also conflict with ongoing drmP.h cleanup by others I
expect.

v3: Rebase on top of atomic bochs.

v4: Review from Laurent for bridge/rcar/omap/shmob/core bits:
- (re)move some of the added includes, use the better include files in
other places (all suggested from Laurent adopted unchanged).
- sort alphabetically

v5: Actually try to sort them, and while at it, sort all the ones I
touch.

v6: Rebase onto i915 changes.

v7: Rebase once more.

The current user of the analogix power_off is "analogix_dp-rockchip".
That driver does this:

Both of these things (especially deactive PSR) should be done before

callback up.

Note that without this patch (and with
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9553349/ [seanpaul: this patch was

an error in reboot testing where one thread was at:

...and the other thread was at:

The flush handler thread was finding AUX channel errors and eventually
reported "Failed to apply PSR", where I had a kgdb breakpoint. Presumably
the device would have eventually given up and shut down anyway, but it
seems better to fix the order to be more correct.
