abort suspend on seeing a tablet mode switch event when kernel is
suspending. This also helps identifying if chromeos_tbmc is the wake

After changing the valid_mask for the struct gpio_chip
to detect the need and presence of a valid mask with the
presence of a .init_valid_mask() callback to fill it in,
we augment the gpio_irq_chip to use the same logic.
Switch all driver using the gpio_irq_chio valid_mask
over to this new method.
This makes sure the valid_mask for the gpio_irq_chip gets
filled in when we add the gpio_chip, which makes it a
little easier to switch over drivers using the old
way of setting up gpio_irq_chip over to the new method
of passing the gpio_irq_chip along with the gpio_chip.

Commit 871f1f2bcb ("platform/x86: intel_int0002_vgpio: Only implement
irq_set_wake on Bay Trail") removed the irq_set_wake method from the
struct irq_chip used on Cherry Trail, but it did not set
IRQCHIP_SKIP_SET_WAKE causing kernel/irq/manage.c: set_irq_wake_real()
to return -ENXIO.
This causes the kernel to no longer see PME events reported through the
INT0002 device as wakeup events. Which e.g. breaks wakeup by the (USB)
keyboard on many Cherry Trail 2-in-1 devices.

There is a bit of mess between cros-ec mfd includes and platform
includes. For example, we have a linux/mfd/cros_ec.h include that
exports the interface implemented in platform/chrome/cros_ec_proto.c. Or
we have a linux/mfd/cros_ec_commands.h file that is non related to the
multifunction device (in the sense that is not exporting any function of
the mfd device). This causes crossed includes between mfd and
platform/chrome subsystems and makes the code difficult to read, apart
from creating 'curious' situations where a platform/chrome driver includes
a linux/mfd/cros_ec.h file just to get the exported functions that are
implemented in another platform/chrome driver.
In order to have a better separation on what the cros-ec multifunction
driver does and what the cros-ec core provides move and rework the
affected includes doing:
- Move cros_ec_commands.h to include/linux/platform_data/cros_ec_commands.h
- Get rid of the parts that are implemented in the platform/chrome/cros_ec_proto.c
driver from include/linux/mfd/cros_ec.h to a new file
include/linux/platform_data/cros_ec_proto.h
- Update all the drivers with the new includes, so
- Drivers that only need to know about the protocol include
- linux/platform_data/cros_ec_proto.h
- linux/platform_data/cros_ec_commands.h
- Drivers that need to know about the cros-ec mfd device also include
- linux/mfd/cros_ec.h

An MFD is a device that contains several sub-devices (cells). For instance,
the ChromeOS EC fits in this description as usually contains a charger and
can have other devices with different functions like a Real-Time Clock,
an Audio codec, a Real-Time Clock, ...
If you look at the driver, though, we're doing something odd. We have
two MFD cros-ec drivers where one of them (cros-ec-core) instantiates
another MFD driver as sub-driver (cros-ec-dev), and the latest
instantiates the different sub-devices (Real-Time Clock, Audio codec,
etc).

| |__ mfd-cell1
| |__ ...
|
|___ mfd-cellB (cros-ec-dev)
|__ mfd-cell0
|__ mfd-cell1

The problem that was trying to solve is to describe some kind of topology for
the case where we have an EC (cros-ec) chained with another EC
(cros-pd). Apart from that this extends the bounds of what MFD was
designed to do we might be interested on have other kinds of topology that
can't be implemented in that way.
Let's prepare the code to move the cros-ec-core part from MFD to
platform/chrome as this is clearly a platform specific thing non-related
to a MFD device.

Commit 10a08fd65e ("ACPI: PM: Set up EC GPE for system wakeup from
drivers that need it") assumed that the EC GPE would only need to be
set up for system wakeup if either the intel-hid or the intel-vbtn
driver was in use, but that turns out to be incorrect. In particular,
on ASUS Zenbook UX430UNR/i7-8550U, if the EC GPE is not enabled while
suspended, the system cannot be woken up by opening the lid or
pressing a key, and that machine doesn't use any of the drivers
mentioned above.
For this reason, always set up the EC GPE for system wakeup from
suspend-to-idle by setting and clearing its wake mask in the ACPI
suspend-to-idle callbacks.

Both intel-hid and intel-vbtn set a wakeup_mode flag causing them
to behave in a special way during system suspend and while suspended
in their "prepare" PM callbacks and clear it in their "resume" PM
callbacks. That may cause the wakeup_mode flag to remain set after
a system suspend failure (if some other driver's "suspend" callback
returns an error before the "suspend" callback of either intel-hid
or intel-vbtn is invoked).
After commit 10a08fd65e ("ACPI: PM: Set up EC GPE for system wakeup
from drivers that need it") that also affects the "wakeup mask" bit
of the EC GPE, which may not be cleared after a failing system

Previously, asus-wmi was using the AGFN interface and FAN_CTRL device
for CPU fan control. However, this code has been found to be not fully
working on some recent products, and having checked the spec, these
interfaces are marked as being removed from future products currently
in development.
The replacement appears to be the CPU_FAN device, added in spec version
8.3 (March 2014) and present on many modern Asus laptops.
Add support for this device, and use it whenever it is detected.
The older approach based on AGFN and FAN_CTRL is used as a fallback
on products that do not have such device.
Other than switching between automatic and full speed, there is
no fan speed control through this new interface.

The asus-wmi driver currently uses the "AGFN" interface and
the FAN_CTRL device for fan control. According to the spec, this
interface is very dated and marked as pending removal from products
currently in development.
Clean up the way that the AGFN fan is detected and handled, also
preparing the driver for the introduction of an alternate fan
control method needed to support recent Asus products.
Not anticipating further development of this interface, simplify
the code by dropping any notion of being able to control multiple
AGFN fans (this was already limited to just a single fan through only
exposing a single fan in sysfs).
Check for the presence of AGFN fans at probe time, simplifying the code
flow in asus_hwmon_sysfs_is_visible().

The EC GPE needs to be set up for system wakeup only if there is a
driver depending on it, either intel-hid or intel-vbtn, bound to a
button device that is expected to wake up the system from sleep (such
as the power button on some Dell systems, like the XPS13 9360). It
doesn't need to be set up for waking up the system from sleep in any
other cases and whether or not it is expected to wake up the system
from sleep doesn't depend on whether or not the LPS0 device is
present in the ACPI namespace.
For this reason, rearrange the ACPI suspend-to-idle code to make the
drivers depending on the EC GPE wakeup take care of setting it up and
decouple that from the LPS0 device handling.
While at it, make intel-hid and intel-vbtn prepare for system wakeup
only if they are allowed to wake up the system from sleep by user
space (via sysfs).
[Note that acpi_ec_mark_gpe_for_wake() and acpi_ec_set_gpe_wake_mask()
are there to prevent the EC GPE from being disabled by the
acpi_enable_all_wakeup_gpes() call in acpi_s2idle_prepare(), so on
systems with either intel-hid or intel-vbtn this change doesn't
affect any interactions with the hardware or platform firmware.]

The Asus WMI spec indicates that the function being controlled here
is called "Fan Boost Mode". The user-facing documentation also calls it
this.
The spec uses the term "fan mode" is used to refer to other things,
including functionality expected to appear on future products.
We missed this before as we are not dealing with the most readable of
specs, and didn't forsee any confusion around shortening the name.
Rename "fan mode" to "fan boost mode" to improve consistency with the
spec and to avoid a future naming conflict.
There is no interface breakage here since this has yet to be included
in an official kernel release. I also updated the kernel version listed
under ABI accordingly.

Merge tag 'platform-drivers-x86-v5.3-1' of git://git.infradead.org/linux-platform-drivers-x86
Pull x86 platform driver updates from Andy Shevchenko:
"Gathered a bunch of x86 platform driver changes. It's rather big,
since includes two big refactors and completely new driver:
- ASUS WMI driver got a big refactoring in order to support the TUF
Gaming laptops. Besides that, the regression with backlight being
permanently off on various EeePC laptops has been fixed.
- Accelerometer on HP ProBook 450 G0 shows wrong measurements due to
X axis being inverted. This has been fixed.
- Intel PMC core driver has been extended to be ACPI enumerated if
the DSDT provides device with _HID "INT33A1". This allows to
convert the driver to be pure platform and support new hardware
purely based on ACPI DSDT.
- From now on the Intel Speed Select Technology is supported thru a
corresponding driver. This driver provides an access to the
features of the ISST, such as Performance Profile, Core Power, Base
frequency and Turbo Frequency.
- Mellanox platform drivers has been refactored and now extended to
support more systems, including new coming ones.
- The OLPC XO-1.75 platform is now supported.
- CB4063 Beckhoff Automation board is using PMC clocks, provided via
pmc_atom driver, for ethernet controllers in a way that they can't
be managed by the clock driver. The quirk has been extended to
cover this case.
- Touchscreen on Chuwi Hi10 Plus tablet has been enabled. Meanwhile
the information of Chuwi Hi10 Air has been fixed to cover more
models based on the same platform.
- Xiaomi notebooks have WMI interface enabled. Thus, the driver to
support it has been provided. It required some extension of the
generic WMI library, which allows to propagate opaque context to
the ->probe() of the individual drivers.
This release includes debugfs clean up from Greg KH for several
drivers that drop return code check and make debugfs absence or
failure non-fatal.
Also miscellaneous fixes here and there, mostly for Acer WMI and
various Intel drivers"

It seems that this tree is becoming the funnel point of lots of smaller

larger over time and does not just contain stuff under drivers/char/ and
drivers/misc.
Lots of small updates all over the place here from different driver
subsystems:
- habana driver updates

- documentation file movements and updates
- Android binder fixes and updates
- extcon driver updates
- google firmware driver updates
- fsi driver updates
- smaller misc and char driver updates
- soundwire driver updates

Most modern platforms already have the ACPI device "INT33A1" that could
be used to attach to the driver. Switch the driver to using that and
thus make the intel_pmc_core.c a pure platform_driver.
Some of the legacy platforms though, may still not have this ACPI device
in their ACPI tables. Thus for such platforms, move the code to manually
instantiate a platform_device into a new file of its own. This would
instantiate the intel_pmc_core platform device and thus attach to
the driver, if the ACPI device for the same ("INT33A1") is not present
in a system where it should be. This was discussed here:

Refer to the Intel SDM Vol.4, the package C-state residency counters
of modern IA micro-architecture are all ticking in TSC frequency,
hence we can apply simple math to transform the ticks into microseconds.
i.e.,
residency (ms) = count / tsc_khz
residency (us) = count / tsc_khz * 1000
This also aligns to other sysfs debug entries of residency counter in
the same metric in microseconds, benefits reading and scripting.

Modify DMI matching order: perform matching based on DMI_BOARD_NAME
before matching based on DMI_BOARD_VENDOR and DMI_PRODUCT_NAME in order
to reduce the number of ‘dmi_table’ entries necessary for new systems
support and keep matching order in logical way.
For example, the existing check for DMI_PRODUCT_NAME with prefixes
“MSN27", “MSN24”, "MSB” matches systems MSN2700-BXXXX, MSN2700-XXXX,
MSN2410-BXXXX, MSB7800-XXXX, where ‘XXXX’ specifies some systems
hardware flavors.
At the same time these systems also matched by DMI_BOARD_NAME
“VMOD0001”, because they all have the same platform configuration (LED,
interrupt control, mux etcetera).
New systems with different platform configuration, but with similar
DMI_PRODUCT_NAME MSN2700-2XXXX, MSN2700-2XXXX, MSB7800-2XXXX are about
to be added. These system have similar DMI_PRODUCT_NAME, since they
have same ports configuration as their predecessors. All new systems
will be matched by DMI_BOARD_NAME “VMOD0008”.
With the change provided in the patch it is enough just to add
“VMOD0008” match following natural after “VMOD0007”, otherwise
“VMOD0008” or all “MSN2700-2XXXX”, “MSN2700-2XXXX”, “MSB7800-2XXXX”
should be added on top of ‘mlxplat_dmi_table” in order to be matched
before “MSN27", “MSN24”, "MSB”.

Commands which causes PUNIT writes, store them and restore them on system
resume. The driver stores all such requests in a hash table and stores the
the latest mailbox request parameters. On resume these commands mail box
commands are executed again. There are only 5 such mail box commands which
will trigger such processing so a very low overhead in store and execute
on resume. Also there is no order requirement for mail box commands for
these write/set commands. There is one MSR request for changing turbo
ratio limits, this also stored and get restored on resume and cpu online.

There are two per CPU data needs to be stored and cached to avoid repeated
MSR readings for accessing them later:
- Physical to logical CPU conversion
The PUNIT uses a different CPU numbering scheme which is not APIC id based.
So we need to establish relationship between PUNIT CPU number and Linux
logical CPU numbering which is based on APIC id. There is an MSR 0x53
(MSR_THREAD_ID), which gets physical CPU number for the local CPU where it
is read. Also the CPU mask in some messages will inform which CPUs needs
to be online/offline for a TDP level. During TDP switch if user offlined
some CPUs, then the physical CPU mask can't be converted as we can't
read MSR on an offlined CPU to go to a lower TDP level by onlining more
CPUs. So the mapping needs to be established at the boot up time.
- Bus number corresponding to a CPU
A group of CPUs are in a control of a PUNIT. The PUNIT device is exported
as PCI device. To do operation on a PUNIT for a CPU, we need to find out
to which PCI device it is related to. This is done by reading MSR 0x128
(MSR_CPU_BUS_NUMBER).
So during CPU online stages the above MSRs are read and stored. Later
this stored information is used to process IOCTLs request from the user
space.

Encapsulate common functions which all Intel Speed Select Technology
interface drivers can use. This creates API to register misc device for
user kernel communication and handle all common IOCTLs. As part of the
registry it allows a callback which is to handle domain specific ioctl
processing.
There can be multiple drivers register for services, which can be built
as modules. So this driver handle contention during registry and as well
as during removal. Once user space opened the misc device, the registered
driver will be prevented from removal. Also once misc device is opened by
the user space new client driver can't register, till the misc device is
closed.
There are two types of client drivers, one to handle mail box interface
and the other is to allow direct read/write to some specific MMIO space.
This common driver implements IOCTL ISST_IF_GET_PLATFORM_INFO.

On many boards, communication between the kernel and the Embedded
Controller happens over an LPC bus. In these cases, the kernel config
CONFIG_CROS_EC_LPC is enabled. Some of these LPC boards contain a
Microchip Embedded Controller (MEC) that is different from the regular
EC. On these devices, the same LPC bus is used, but the protocol is
a little different. In these cases, the CONFIG_CROS_EC_LPC_MEC kernel
config is enabled. Currently, the kernel decides at compile-time whether
or not to use the MEC variant, and, when that kernel option is selected
it breaks the other boards. We would like a kind of runtime detection to
avoid this.
This patch adds that detection mechanism by probing the protocol at
runtime, first we assume that a MEC variant is connected, and if the
protocol fails it fallbacks to the regular EC. This adds a bit of
overload because we try to read twice on those LPC boards that doesn't
contain a MEC variant, but is a better solution than having to select the
EC variant at compile-time.
While here also fix the alignment in Kconfig file for this config option
replacing the spaces by tabs.

Event codes are expected to be retrieved from a queue on at least some
models. Specifically, very likely the ACPI WMI devices with _UID ATK are
queued whereas those with ASUSWMI are not [1].
The WMI event codes are pushed into a circular buffer queue. After the INIT
method is called, ACPI code is allowed to push events into this buffer.
The INIT method cannot be reverted. If the module is unloaded and an event
(such as hotkey press) gets emitted before inserting it back the events get
processed delayed by one or if the queue overflows, additionally delayed by
about 3 seconds.
It might be considered a minor issue and no normal user would likely
observe this (there is little reason unloading the driver), but it does
significantly frustrate a developer who is unlucky enough to encounter
this. Therefore, the fallback to unqueued behavior occurs whenever
something unexpected happens.
The fix flushes the old key codes out of the queue on load. After receiving
event the queue is read until either ..FFFF or 1 is encountered. Also as
noted in [1] it is checked whether notify code is equal to 0xFF before
enabling queue processing in WMI notify handler.

Dell platform team told us that some (DMI whitelisted) Dell Latitude
machines have ST microelectronics accelerometer at I2C address 0x29.
Presence of that ST microelectronics accelerometer is verified by existence
of SMO88xx ACPI device which represent that accelerometer. Unfortunately
ACPI device does not specify I2C address.
This patch registers lis3lv02d device for selected Dell Latitude machines
at I2C address 0x29 after detection. And for Dell Vostro V131 machine at
I2C address 0x1d which was manually detected.
Finally commit a7ae81952c ("i2c: i801: Allow ACPI SystemIO OpRegion to

lis3lv02d correctly initialize accelerometer.

The Wilco Embedded Controller is able to send telemetry data
which is useful for enterprise applications. A daemon running on
the OS sends a command to the EC via a write() to a char device,
and can read the response with a read(). The write() request is
verified by the driver to ensure that it is performing only one
of the whitelisted commands, and that no extraneous data is
being transmitted to the EC. The response is passed directly
back to the reader with no modification.
The character device will appear as /dev/wilco_telemN, where N
is some small non-negative integer, starting with 0. Only one
process may have the file descriptor open at a time. The calling
userspace program needs to keep the device file descriptor open
between the calls to write() and read() in order to preserve the
response. Up to 32 bytes will be available for reading.
For testing purposes, try requesting the EC's firmware build
date, by sending the WILCO_EC_TELEM_GET_VERSION command with
argument index=3. i.e. write [0x38, 0x00, 0x03]
to the device node. An ASCII string of the build date is
returned.

The Wilco Embedded Controller can create custom events that
are not handled as standard ACPI objects. These events can
contain information about changes in EC controlled features,
such as errors and events in the dock or display. For example,
an event is triggered if the dock is plugged into a display
incorrectly. These events are needed for telemetry and
diagnostics reasons, and for possibly alerting the user.
These events are triggered by the EC with an ACPI Notify(0x90),
and then the BIOS reads the event buffer from EC RAM via an
ACPI method. When the OS receives these events via ACPI,
it passes them along to this driver. The events are put into
a queue which can be read by a userspace daemon via a char device
that implements read() and poll(). The event queue acts as a
circular buffer of size 64, so if there are no userspace consumers
the kernel will not run out of memory. The char device will appear at
/dev/wilco_event{n}, where n is some small non-negative integer,
starting from 0. Standard ACPI events such as the battery getting
plugged/unplugged can also come through this path, but they are
dealt with via other paths, and are ignored here.
To test, you can tail the binary data with
$ cat /dev/wilco_event0 | hexdump -ve '1/1 "%x\n"'
and then create an event by plugging/unplugging the battery.

allow us to create a similar child node for fusb302 that

are not physical devices. They are functions of a single
physical multiplexer/demultiplexer switch device.
Unfortunately because of the dependency we still have on the
underlying mux device driver, we had to put in hacks like
the one in the commit 3e3b81965c ("usb: typec: mux: Take
care of driver module reference counting") to make sure the
driver does not disappear from underneath us. Even with
those hacks we were still left with a potential NUll pointer
dereference scenario, so just creating the device entries,
and letting the core take care of the dependencies. No more
hacks needed.

All currently known ECs in the wild are very sensitive to timing.
Specifically the ECs are known to drop a transfer if more than 8 ms
passes from the assertion of the chip select until the transfer
finishes.
Let's use the new feature introduced in the patch (spi: Allow SPI
devices to request the pumping thread be realtime") to request the SPI
pumping thread be realtime. This means that if we get shunted off to
the SPI thread for whatever reason we won't get downgraded to low
priority.
NOTES:
- We still need to keep ourselves as high priority since the SPI core
doesn't guarantee that all transfers end up on the pumping thread
(in fact, it tries pretty hard to do them in the calling context).
- If future Chrome OS ECs ever fix themselves to be less sensitive
then we could consider adding a property (or compatible string) to
not set this property. For now we need it across the board.

In commit 37a186225a ("platform/chrome: cros_ec_spi: Transfer
messages at high priority") we moved transfers to a high priority
workqueue. This helped make them much more reliable.
...but, we still saw failures.
We were actually finding ourselves competing for time with dm-crypt
which also scheduled work on HIGHPRI workqueues. While we can
consider reverting the change that made dm-crypt run its work at
HIGHPRI, the argument in commit a1b89132dc ("dm crypt: use
WQ_HIGHPRI for the IO and crypt workqueues") is somewhat compelling.
It does make sense for IO to be scheduled at a priority that's higher
than the default user priority. It also turns out that dm-crypt isn't
alone in using high priority like this. loop_prepare_queue() does
something similar for loopback devices.
Looking in more detail, it can be seen that the high priority
workqueue isn't actually that high of a priority. It runs at MIN_NICE
which is _fairly_ high priority but still below all real time
priority.
Should we move cros_ec_spi to real time priority to fix our problems,
or is this just escalating a priority war? I'll argue here that
cros_ec_spi _does_ belong at real time priority. Specifically
cros_ec_spi actually needs to run quickly for correctness. As I
understand this is exactly what real time priority is for.
There currently doesn't appear to be any way to use the standard
workqueue APIs with a real time priority, so we'll switch over to
using using a kthread worker. We'll match the priority that the SPI
core uses when it wants to do things on a realtime thread and just use
"MAX_RT_PRIO - 1".
This commit plus the patch ("platform/chrome: cros_ec_spi: Request the
SPI thread be realtime") are enough to get communications very close
to 100% reliable (the only known problem left is when serial console
is turned on, which isn't something that happens in shipping devices).
Specifically this test case now passes (tested on rk3288-veyron-jerry):
dd if=/dev/zero of=/var/log/foo.txt bs=4M count=512&
while true; do
ectool version > /dev/null;
done
It should be noted that "/var/log" is encrypted (and goes through
dm-crypt) and also passes through a loopback device.

To facilitate additional options to get_user_pages_fast() change the
singular write parameter to be gup_flags.
This patch does not change any functionality. New functionality will
follow in subsequent patches.
Some of the get_user_pages_fast() call sites were unchanged because they
already passed FOLL_WRITE or 0 for the write parameter.
NOTE: It was suggested to change the ordering of the get_user_pages_fast()
arguments to ensure that callers were converted. This breaks the current
GUP call site convention of having the returned pages be the final
parameter. So the suggestion was rejected.

Add support in code for the new forms of the host sleep event.
Detects the presence of this version of the command at runtime,
and use whichever form the EC supports. At this time, always
request the default timeout, and only report the failing response
via a WARN_ONCE(). Future versions could accept the sleep parameter
from outside the driver, and return the response information to
usermode or elsewhere.

Some of latest ASUS laptops support new fn-lock mode switching.
This commit detect whether if the fn-lock option is enabled in
BIOS setting, and toggle the fn-lock mode via a new WMI DEVID
0x00100023 when the corresponding notify code captured.
The ASUS fn-lock mode switch is activated by pressing Fn+Esc.
When on, keys F1 to F12 behave as applicable, with meanings
defined by the application being used at the time. When off,
F1 to F12 directly triggers hardware features, well known audio
volume up/down, brightness up/down...etc, which were triggered
by holding down Fn key and F-keys.
Because there's no way to retrieve the fn-lock mode via existing
WMI methods per ASUS spec, driver need to initialize and keep the
fn-lock mode by itself.

When the ideapad-laptop driver was first written it was written for laptops
which had a hardware rfkill switch. So when the first ideapad laptops
showed up without a hw rfkill switch and it turned out that in this case
the ideapad firmware interface would always report the wifi being hardware-
blocked, a DMI id list of models which lack a hw rfkill switch was started
(by yours truly). Things were done this way to avoid regressing existing
models with a hw rfkill switch. In hindsight this was a mistake.
Lenovo releases a lot of ideapad models every year and even the latest
models still use the "VPC2004" ACPI interface the ideapad-laptop driver
binds to. Having a hw rfkill switch is quite rare on modern hardware, so
all these new models need to be added to the no_hw_rfkill_list, leading
to a never ending game of whack a mole.
Worse the failure mode when not present on the list, is very bad. In this
case the ideapad-laptop driver will report the wifi as being hw-blocked,
at which points NetworkManager does not even try to use it and the user
ends up with non working wifi.
This leads to various Linux fora on the internet being filled with
wifi not working on ideapad laptops stories, which does not make Linux
look good.
The failure mode when we flip the default to assuming that a hw rfkill
switch is not present OTOH is quite benign. When we properly report the
wifi as being hw-blocked on ideapads which do have the hw-switch; and it
is in the wifi-off position, then at least when using NetworkManager +
GNOME3 the user will get a "wifi disabled in hardware" message when trying
to connect to the wifi from the UI. If OTOH we assume there is no hardware
rfkill switch, then the user will get an empty list for the list of
available networks. Although the empty list vs the "wifi disabled in
hardware" message is a regression, it is a very minor regression and it
can easily be fixed on a model by model basis by filling the new
hw_rfkill_list this commit introduces.
Therefor this commit removes the ever growing no_hw_rfkill_list, flipping
the default to assuming there is no hw rfkill switch and adding a new
hw_rfkill_list. Thereby fixing the wifi not working on all the current
ideapad and yoga models which are not on the list yet and also fixing it
for all future ideapad and yoga models using the "VPC2004" ACPI interface.
Note once this patch has been accepted upstream. I plan to write a blog
post asking for users of ideapads and yoga's with a hw rfkill switch to
step forward, so that we can populate the new hw_rfkill_list with the few
older yoga and ideapad models which actually have a hw rfkill switch.

used to print "status" instead and that seems like the correct thing to
print.

Add a module parameter which when enabled, will check on resume, if the
last S0ix attempt was successful. If not, the driver would warn and provide
helpful debug information (which gets latched during the failed suspend
attempt) to debug the S0ix failure.
This information is very useful to debug S0ix failures. Specially since
the latched debug information will be lost (over-written) if the system
attempts to go into runtime (or imminent) S0ix again after that failed
suspend attempt.

Add mlx-wdt platform driver activation. Watchdog driver uses the same
regmap infrastructure as others Mellanox platform drivers. Specific
registers description for watchdog platform data configuration are
added to mlx-platform. There are the registers for watchdog timer
manipulation, and action setting on watchdog timer expiration.
The watchdog action function could be configured to perform one of the
following: system reset, setting PWM to full speed or counter
increment.
Two types of watchdog devices are supported main and auxiliary.
These devices are co-exist and each of them could be configured to
handle the specific action.

The intel_pmc_ipc driver has a placeholder for all possible resources
that may have been provided by ACPI. Since there are few optional ones,
the driver still uses them and binds to wrong ranges in resource tree:
# grep intel_punit_ipc /proc/iomem
00000000-00000000 : intel_punit_ipc
00000000-00000000 : intel_punit_ipc
00000000-00000000 : intel_punit_ipc
00000000-00000000 : intel_punit_ipc
This leads to issues with resource management during inserting and
removing modules, such as intel_pmc_ipc itself, which can't be inserted
anymore after first removal.
Count the actual resources provided and supply only them to the child device.
This is a real fix of the commit 8cc7fb4a65
("intel_pmc_ipc: update acpi resource structure for Punit")
that also fixes a symptoms described in the commit 6cc8cbbc88
("platform/x86: intel_punit_ipc: Fix resource ioremap warning")
that is going to be reverted afterwards.

("fs: stream_open - opener for stream-like files so that read and write
can run simultaneously without deadlock"), search and convert to
stream_open all in-kernel nonseekable_open users for which read and
write actually do not depend on ppos and where there is no other methods
in file_operations which assume @offset access.
I've verified each generated change manually - that it is correct to convert -
and each other nonseekable_open instance left - that it is either not correct
to convert there, or that it is not converted due to current stream_open.cocci
limitations. The script also does not convert files that should be valid to
convert, but that currently have .llseek = noop_llseek or generic_file_llseek
for unknown reason despite file being opened with nonseekable_open (e.g.

by reworking the case where out_data is not-null to perform the
ACPI status check and also the kfree of outpoint.pointer in one block
and hence ensuring the pointer is only freed when it has been used.
Also replace the if (ptr != NULL) idiom with just if (ptr).

As part of Chrome OS's FAFT (Fully Automated Firmware Testing)
tests, we need to ensure that the H1 chip is properly setting
some GPIO lines. The h1_gpio attribute exposes the state
of the lines:
- ENTRY_TO_FACT_MODE in BIT(0)
- SPI_CHROME_SEL in BIT(1)
There are two reasons that I am exposing this in debugfs,
and not as a GPIO:
1. This is only useful for testing, so end users shouldn't ever
care about this. In fact, if it passes the tests, then the value of
h1_gpio will always be 2, so it would be really uninteresting for users.
2. This GPIO is not connected to, controlled by, or really even related
to the AP. The GPIO runs between the EC and the H1 security chip.
Changes in v4:
- Use "0x02x\n" instead of "02x\n" for format string
- Use DEFINE_DEBUGFS_ATTRIBUTE()
- Add documentation
Changes in v3:
- Fix documentation to correspond with formatting change in v2.
Changes in v2:
- Zero out the unused fields in the request.
- Format result as "%02x\n" instead of as a decimal.

The current API for the wilco EC mailbox interface is bad.
It assumes that most messages sent to the EC follow a similar structure,
with a command byte in MBOX[0], followed by a junk byte, followed by
actual data. This doesn't happen in several cases, such as setting the
RTC time, using the raw debugfs interface, and reading or writing
properties such as the Peak Shift policy (this last to be submitted soon).
Similarly for the response message from the EC, the current interface
assumes that the first byte of data is always 0, and the second byte
is unused. However, in both setting and getting the RTC time, in the
debugfs interface, and for reading and writing properties, this isn't
true.
The current way to resolve this is to use WILCO_EC_FLAG_RAW* flags to
specify when and when not to skip these initial bytes in the sent and
received message. They are confusing and used so much that they are
normal, and not exceptions. In addition, the first byte of
response in the debugfs interface is still always skipped, which is
weird, since this raw interface should be giving the entire result.
Additionally, sent messages assume the first byte is a command, and so
struct wilco_ec_message contains the "command" field. In setting or
getting properties however, the first byte is not a command, and so this
field has to be filled with a byte that isn't actually a command. This
is again inconsistent.
wilco_ec_message contains a result field as well, copied from
wilco_ec_response->result. The message result field should be removed:
if the message fails, the cause is already logged, and the callers are
alerted. They will never care about the actual state of the result flag.
These flags and different cases make the wilco_ec_transfer() function,
used in wilco_ec_mailbox(), really gross, dealing with a bunch of
different cases. It's difficult to figure out what it is doing.
Finally, making these assumptions about the structure of a message make
it so that the messages do not correspond well with the specification
for the EC's mailbox interface. For instance, this interface
specification may say that MBOX[9] in the received message contains
some information, but the calling code needs to remember that the first
byte of response is always skipped, and because it didn't set the
RESPONSE_RAW flag, the next byte is also skipped, so this information
is actually contained within wilco_ec_message->response_data[7]. This
makes it difficult to maintain this code in the future.
To fix these problems this patch standardizes the mailbox interface by:
- Removing the WILCO_EC_FLAG_RAW* flags
- Removing the command and reserved_raw bytes from wilco_ec_request
- Removing the mbox0 byte from wilco_ec_response
- Simplifying wilco_ec_transfer() because of these changes
- Gives the callers of wilco_ec_mailbox() the responsibility of exactly
and consistently defining the structure of the mailbox request and
response
- Removing command and result from wilco_ec_message.
This results in the reduction of total code, and makes it much more
maintainable and understandable.

not support v2 of the EC protocol.
If the v3 initial handshake transfer fails, the kernel will try
and call cmd_xfer as a fallback. If v2 is not supported, cmd_xfer

The software running on the Chrome OS Embedded Controller (cros_ec)
handles SPI transfers in a bit of a wonky way. Specifically if the EC
sees too long of a delay in a SPI transfer it will give up and the
transfer will be counted as failed. Unfortunately the timeout is
fairly short, though the actual number may be different for different
EC codebases.
We can end up tripping the timeout pretty easily if we happen to
preempt the task running the SPI transfer and don't get back to it for
a little while.
Historically this hasn't been a _huge_ deal because:
1. On old devices Chrome OS used to run PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY. That meant
we were pretty unlikely to take a big break from the transfer.
2. On recent devices we had faster / more processors.
3. Recent devices didn't use "cros-ec-spi-pre-delay". Using that
delay makes us more likely to trip this use case.
4. For whatever reasons (I didn't dig) old kernels seem to be less
likely to trip this.
5. For the most part it's kinda OK if a few transfers to the EC fail.
Mostly we're just polling the battery or doing some other task
where we'll try again.
Even with the above things, this issue has reared its ugly head
periodically. We could solve this in a nice way by adding reliable
retries to the EC protocol [1] or by re-designing the code in the EC
codebase to allow it to wait longer, but that code doesn't ever seem
to get changed. ...and even if it did, it wouldn't help old devices.
It's now time to finally take a crack at making this a little better.
This patch isn't guaranteed to make every cros_ec SPI transfer
perfect, but it should improve things by a few orders of magnitude.
Specifically you can try this on a rk3288-veyron Chromebook (which is
slower and also _does_ need "cros-ec-spi-pre-delay"):
md5sum /dev/zero &
md5sum /dev/zero &
md5sum /dev/zero &
md5sum /dev/zero &
while true; do
cat /sys/class/power_supply/sbs-20-000b/charge_now > /dev/null;
done
...before this patch you'll see boatloads of errors. After this patch I
don't see any in the testing I did.
The way this patch works is by effectively boosting the priority of
the cros_ec transfers. As far as I know there is no simple way to
just boost the priority of the current process temporarily so the way
we accomplish this is by queuing the work on the system_highpri_wq.
NOTE: this patch relies on the fact that the SPI framework attempts to
push the messages out on the calling context (which is the one that is
boosted to high priority). As I understand from earlier (long ago)
discussions with Mark Brown this should be a fine assumption. Even if
it isn't true sometimes this patch will still not make things worse.
