The new route handling in ip_mc_finish_output() from 'net' overlapped
with the new support for returning congestion notifications from BPF
programs.
In order to handle this I had to take the dev_loopback_xmit() calls
out of the switch statement.
The aquantia driver conflicts were simple overlapping changes.

If the PHY does not support EEE mode, then a crash is observed when the
ethernet interface is enabled. The crash occurs, because if the PHY does
not support EEE, then although the EEE timer is never configured, it is
still marked as enabled and so the stmmac ethernet driver is still
trying to update the timer by calling mod_timer(). This triggers a BUG()
in the mod_timer() because we are trying to update a timer when there is
no callback function set because timer_setup() was never called for this
timer.
The problem is caused because we return true from the function
stmmac_eee_init(), marking the EEE timer as enabled, even when we have
not configured the EEE timer. Fix this by ensuring that we return false
if the PHY does not support EEE and hence, 'eee_active' is not set.

When stmmac_eee_init() is called to disable EEE support, then the timer
for EEE support is stopped and we return from the function. Prior to
stopping the timer, a mutex was acquired but in this case it is never
released and so could cause a deadlock. Fix this by releasing the mutex
prior to returning from stmmax_eee_init() when stopping the EEE timer.

The PHY selection bit also exists on SoCs without an internal PHY; if it's
set to 1 (internal PHY, default value) then the MAC will not make use of
any PHY on such SoCs.
This problem appears when adapting for H6, which has no real internal PHY
(the "internal PHY" on H6 is not on-die, but on a co-packaged AC200 chip,
connected via RMII interface at GPIO bank A).
Force the PHY selection bit to 0 when the SOC doesn't have an internal PHY,
to address the problem of a wrong default value.

The EMAC on Allwinner H6 is just like the one on A64. The "internal PHY" on
H6 is on a co-packaged AC200 chip, and it's not really internal (it's
connected via RMII at PA GPIO bank).
Add support for the Allwinner H6 EMAC in the dwmac-sun8i driver.

When transmitting certain PTP frames, e.g. SYNC and DELAY_REQ, the
PTP daemon, e.g. ptp4l, is polling the driver for the frame transmit
hardware timestamp. The polling will most likely timeout if the tx
coalesce is enabled due to the Interrupt-on-Completion (IC) bit is
not set in tx descriptor for those frames.
This patch will ignore the tx coalesce parameter and set the IC bit
when transmitting PTP frames which need to report out the frame
transmit hardware timestamp to user space.

When ADDSUB bit is set, the system time seconds field is calculated as
the complement of the seconds part of the update value.
For example, if 3.000000001 seconds need to be subtracted from the
system time, this field is calculated as
2^32 - 3 = 4294967296 - 3 = 0x100000000 - 3 = 0xFFFFFFFD
Previously, the 0x100000000 is mistakenly written as 100000000.
This is further simplified from
sec = (0x100000000ULL - sec);
to
sec = -sec;

Commit ce4ab73ab0 ("net: stmmac: drop the reset delays from struct
stmmac_mdio_bus_data") moved the reset delay array from struct
stmmac_mdio_bus_data to a stack variable.
The values from the array inside struct stmmac_mdio_bus_data were
previously initialized to 0 because the struct was allocated using
devm_kzalloc(). The array on the stack has to be initialized
explicitly, else we might be reading garbage values.
Initialize all reset delays to 0 to ensure that the values are 0 if the
"snps,reset-delays-us" property is not defined.
This fixes booting at least two boards (MIPS pistachio marduk and ARM
sun8i H2+ Orange Pi Zero). These are hanging during boot when
initializing the stmmac Ethernet controller (as found by Kernel CI).
Both have in common that they don't define the "snps,reset-delays-us"
property.

No platform uses the "reset_gpio" field from stmmac_mdio_bus_data
anymore. Drop it so we don't get any new consumers either.
Plain GPIO numbers are being deprecated in favor of GPIO descriptors. If
needed any new non-OF platform can add a GPIO descriptor lookup table.
devm_gpiod_get_optional() will find the GPIO in that case.

Change stmmac_mdio_reset() to use device_property_read_u32_array()
instead of of_property_read_u32_array().
This is meant as a cleanup because we can drop the struct device_node
variable. Also it will make it easier to get rid of struct
stmmac_mdio_bus_data (or at least make it private) in the future because
non-OF platforms can now pass the reset delays as device properties.
No functional changes (neither for OF platforms nor for ones that are
not using OF, because the modified code is still contained in an "if
(priv->device->of_node)").

Because of PHYLINK conversion we stopped parsing the phy-handle property
from DT. Unfortunatelly, some wrapper drivers still rely on this phy
node to configure the PHY.
Let's restore the parsing of PHY handle while these wrapper drivers are
not fully converted to PHYLINK.

Switch stmmac_mdio_reset to use GPIO descriptors. GPIO core handles the
"snps,reset-gpio" for GPIO descriptors so we don't need to take care of
it inside the driver anymore.
The advantage of this is that we now preserve the GPIO flags which are
passed via devicetree. This is required on some newer Amlogic boards
which use an Open Drain pin for the reset GPIO. This pin can only output
a LOW signal or switch to input mode but it cannot output a HIGH signal.
There are already devicetree bindings for these special cases and GPIO
core already takes care of them but only if we use GPIO descriptors
instead of GPIO numbers.

On the Arria10, Agilex, and Stratix10 SoC, there are a few differences from
the Cyclone5 and Arria5:
- The emac PHY setup bits are in separate registers.
- The PTP reference clock select mask is different.
- The register to enable the emac signal from FPGA is different.
Thus, this patch creates a separate function for setting the phy modes on
Arria10/Agilex/Stratix10. The separation is based a new DTS binding:
"altr,socfpga-stmmac-a10-s10".

Current dwmac4_flow_ctrl will not clear
GMAC_RX_FLOW_CTRL_RFE/GMAC_RX_FLOW_CTRL_RFE bits,
so MAC hw will keep flow control on although expecting
flow control off by ethtool. Add codes to fix it.

passing tstamp to stack, then the ptp4l will fail:

ptp4l tests pass when changing the tx-frames from 25 to 1 with
ethtool -C option.
It should be fine to set tx-frames default value to 1, so ptp4l will pass
by default.

The phylink conflict was between a bug fix by Russell King
to make sure we have a consistent PHY interface mode, and
a change in net-next to pull some code in phylink_resolve()
into the helper functions phylink_mac_link_{up,down}()
On the dp83867 side it's mostly overlapping changes, with
the 'net' side removing a condition that was supposed to
trigger for RGMII but because of how it was coded never
actually could trigger.

kernel files, based on a set of rules that are being used to parse the
comments to try to determine that the license of the file is
"GPL-2.0-or-later" or "GPL-2.0-only". Only the "obvious" versions of
these matches are included here, a number of "non-obvious" variants of
text have been found but those have been postponed for later review and
analysis.
There is also a patch in here to add the proper SPDX header to a bunch
of Kbuild files that we have missed in the past due to new files being
added and forgetting that Kbuild uses two different file names for
Makefiles. This issue was reported by the Kbuild maintainer.

Before the netdev is registered, calling netdev_info() will emit
something as "(unnamed net device) (uninitialized)", looks confusing.

If the subdriver defers probe, do not show an error message. It's
perfectly fine for this error to occur since the driver will get another
chance to probe after some time and will usually succeed after all of
the resources that it requires have been registered.

1. the frequency of csr clock is 66.5MHz, so the csr_clk value should
be 0 other than 5.
2. the csr_clk can be got from device tree, so remove initialization here.

The specific clk_csr value can be zero, and
stmmac_clk is necessary for MDC clock which can be set dynamically.
So, change the condition from plat->clk_csr to plat->stmmac_clk to
fix clk_csr can't be zero issue.

Currently we will not update the receive descriptor tail pointer in
stmmac_rx_refill. Rx dma will think no available descriptors and stop
once received packets exceed DMA_RX_SIZE, so that the rx only test will fail.
Update the receive tail pointer in stmmac_rx_refill to add more descriptors
to the rx channel, so packets can be received continually

kernel files, based on a set of rules that are being used to parse the
comments to try to determine that the license of the file is
"GPL-2.0-or-later". Only the "obvious" versions of these matches are
included here, a number of "non-obvious" variants of text have been
found but those have been postponed for later review and analysis.
These patches have been out for review on the linux-spdx@vger mailing
list, and while they were created by automatic tools, they were
hand-verified by a bunch of different people, all whom names are on the
patches are reviewers.

When we trigger NAPI we are disabling interrupts but in case we receive
or send a packet in the meantime, as interrupts are disabled, we will
miss this event.
Trigger both NAPI instances (RX and TX) when at least one event happens
so that we don't miss any interrupts.

We don't need to disable the whole RX when dma_stop_rx() is called
because there may be the need of just disabling 1 DMA channel.

We add support for selftests on stmmac driver with 9 basic sanity checks
for now:
- MAC Loopback
- PHY Loopback
- MMC Counters
- EEE
- Hash Filter Multicast
- Perfect Filter Unicast
- Multicast Filter All
- Unicast Filter All
- Flow Control
This allows for fast tracking of regressions in the driver and helps in
spotting mis-configuration of HW.

Commit 984203ceff ("net: stmmac: mdio: remove reset gpio free")
removed the reset gpio free, when the driver is unbinded or rmmod,
we miss the gpio free.
This patch uses managed API to request the reset gpio, so that the
gpio could be freed properly.

stmmac_init_chan() needs to be called before stmmac_init_rx_chan() and
stmmac_init_tx_chan(). This is because if PBLx8 is to be used,
"DMA_CH(#i)_Control.PBLx8" needs to be set before programming
"DMA_CH(#i)_TX_Control.TxPBL" and "DMA_CH(#i)_RX_Control.RxPBL".

Currently ethtool was not able to get/set the flow control due to a
missing "!". It will always return -EOPNOTSUPP even the device is
flow control supported.
This patch fixes the condition check for ethtool flow control get/set
function for ETHTOOL_LINK_MODE_Asym_Pause_BIT.

There was NVMEM support added to of_get_mac_address, so it could now
return ERR_PTR encoded error values, so we need to adjust all current
users of of_get_mac_address to this new fact.
While at it, remove superfluous is_valid_ether_addr as the MAC address
returned from of_get_mac_address is always valid and checked by
is_valid_ether_addr anyway.

stmmac_check_ether_addr() checks the MAC address and assigns one in
driver open(). In many cases when we create slave netdevice, the dev
addr is inherited from master but the master dev addr maybe NULL at
that time, so move this call to driver probe so that address is
always valid.

Since there are more IOT2040 variants with identical hardware but
different asset tags, the asset tag matching should be adjusted to
support them.
For the board name "SIMATIC IOT2000", currently there are 2 types of
hardware, IOT2020 and IOT2040. The IOT2020 is identified by its unique
asset tag. Match on it first. If we then match on the board name only,
we will catch all IOT2040 variants. In the future there will be no other
devices with the "SIMATIC IOT2000" DMI board name but different
hardware.

By default Flow Control feature is not being enabled in stmmac.
This is a useful feature that can prevent loss of packets and now that
XGMAC already supports it (along with GMAC and QoS) it makes sense to
activate it.
Switch the module parameter to FLOW_AUTO so that Flow Control is
activated.

The ARM64 System Manager requires a different method of reading
the System Manager than ARM32. A new System Manager driver was
created to steer ARM32 System Manager calls to regmap_mmio and
ARM64 System Manager calls to the new access method.
Convert from syscon to the shared System Manager driver so that
both ARM64 and ARM32 are supported.

Packets without the last descriptor set should be dropped early. If we
receive a frame larger than the DMA buffer, the HW will continue using the
next descriptor. Driver mistakes these as individual frames, and sometimes
a truncated frame (without the LD set) may look like a valid packet.
This fixes a strange issue where the system replies to 4098-byte ping
although the MTU/DMA buffer size is set to 4096, and yet at the same
time it's logging an oversized packet.

If we have error bits set, the discard_frame status will get overwritten
by checksum bit checks, which might set the status back to good one.
Fix by checking the COE status only if the frame is good.

Currently, if we drop a packet, we exit from NAPI loop before the budget
is consumed. In some situations this will make the RX processing stall
e.g. when flood pinging the system with oversized packets, as the
errorneous packets are not dropped efficiently.
If we drop a packet, we should just continue to the next one as long as
the budget allows.

We always program the maximum DMA buffer size into the receive descriptor,
although the allocated size may be less. E.g. with the default MTU size
we allocate only 1536 bytes. If somebody sends us a bigger frame, then
memory may get corrupted.
Fix by using exact buffer sizes.

When using 16K DMA buffers and ring mode, the DES3 refill is not working
correctly as the function is using a bogus pointer for checking the
private data. As a result stale pointers will remain in the RX descriptor
ring, so DMA will now likely overwrite/corrupt some already freed memory.
As simple reproducer, just receive some UDP traffic:

When sending non-linear skbs with jumbo frames, we set up the non-paged
data and mark that as a last segment, although the paged fragments are
also prepared. This will stall the TX queue and trigger a watchdog warning

Commit 0e80bdc9a7 ("stmmac: first frame prep at the end of xmit
routine") overlooked jumbo frames when re-ordering the code, and as a
result the own bit was not getting set anymore for the first jumbo frame
descriptor. Commit 487e2e22ab ("net: stmmac: Set OWN bit for jumbo
frames") tried to fix this, but now the bit is getting set too early and
the DMA may start while we are still setting up the remaining descriptors.
And with the chain mode the own bit remains still unset.
Fix by setting the own bit at the end of xmit also with jumbo frames.

Clang is concerned with the use of stmmac_do_void_callback (which
stmmac_get_systime wraps), as it may fail to initialize these values if
the if condition was ever false (meaning the callback doesn't exist).
It's not wrong because the callback is what initializes ns. While it's
unlikely that the callback is going to disappear at some point and make
that condition false, we can easily avoid this warning by zero
initializing the variable.

cleaning of TX path. Lets check if it's active in DMA interrupt handler.
While at it, refactor a little bit the function:
- Don't check if RI is enabled because at function exit we will
only clear the interrupts that are enabled so, no event will
be missed.
In my tests withe XGMAC2 this increased performance.

Commit 8fce333170 introduced the concept of NAPI per-channel and
independent cleaning of TX path.
This is currently breaking performance in some cases. The scenario
happens when all packets are being received in Queue 0 but the TX is
performed in Queue != 0.
Fix this by using different NAPI instances per each TX and RX queue, as
suggested by Florian.

We are saving the status of EEE even before we try to enable it. This
leads to a race with XMIT function that tries to arm EEE timer before we
set it up.
Fix this by only saving the EEE parameters after all operations are
performed with success.

GMAC IP is little-endian and used on several kind of CPU (big or little
endian). Main callbacks functions of the stmmac drivers take care about
it. It was not the case for dwmac4_get_timestamp function.

In dwmac4_wrback_get_rx_timestamp_status we looking for a RX timestamp.
For that receive descriptors are handled and so we should use defines
related to receive descriptors. It'll no change the functional behavior
as RDES3_RDES1_VALID=TDES3_RS1V=BIT(26) but it makes code easier to read.

The current driver only enables Pdelay_Req and Pdelay_Resp when
HWTSTAMP_FILTER_PTP_V2_EVENT, HWTSTAMP_FILTER_PTP_V1_L4_EVENT or
HWTSTAMP_FILTER_PTP_V2_L4_EVENT is requested. This results in ptp sync on
slave mode to report 'received SYNC without timestamp' when using ptp4l.
Although the hardware can support Sync, Pdelay_Req and Pdelay_resp by
setting bit14 annd bits 17/16 to 01 this leaves Delay_Req timestamps out.
Fix this by enabling all event and general messages timestamps.
This includes SYNC, Follow_Up, Delay_Req, Delay_Resp, Pdelay_Req,
Pdelay_Resp and Pdelay_Resp_Follow_Up messages.

In stmmac xmit callback we use a different flow for TSO packets but TSO
xmit callback is not disabling the EEE mode.
Fix this by disabling earlier the EEE mode, i.e. before calling the TSO
xmit callback.

The number of TSO enabled channels in HW can be different than the
number of total channels. There is no way to determined, at runtime, the
number of TSO capable channels and its safe to assume that if TSO is
enabled then at least channel 0 will be TSO capable.
Lets always send TSO packets from Queue 0.

If we don't have DT then stmmac_clk will not be available. Let's add a
new Platform Data field so that we can specify the refclk by this mean.
This way we can still use the coalesce command in PCI based setups.

Currently, TX is given a budget which is consumed by stmmac_tx_clean()
and stmmac_rx() is given the remaining non-consumed budget.
This is wrong and in case we are sending a large number of packets this
can starve RX because remaining budget will be low.
Let's give always the same budget for RX and TX clean.
While at it, check if we missed any interrupts while we were in NAPI
callback by looking at DMA interrupt status.

RX Watchdog can be disabled by platform definitions but currently we are
initializing the descriptors before checking if Watchdog must be
disabled or not.

Since commit b7d0f08e91, the enable / disable of PCI device is not
managed which will result in IO regions not being automatically unmapped.
As regions continue mapped it is currently not possible to remove and
then probe again the PCI module of stmmac.
Fix this by manually unmapping regions on remove callback.

Several conflicts, seemingly all over the place.
I used Stephen Rothwell's sample resolutions for many of these, if not
just to double check my own work, so definitely the credit largely
goes to him.
The NFP conflict consisted of a bug fix (moving operations
past the rhashtable operation) while chaning the initial
argument in the function call in the moved code.
The net/dsa/master.c conflict had to do with a bug fix intermixing of
making dsa_master_set_mtu() static with the fixing of the tagging
attribute location.
cls_flower had a conflict because the dup reject fix from Or
overlapped with the addition of port range classifiction.
__set_phy_supported()'s conflict was relatively easy to resolve
because Andrew fixed it in both trees, so it was just a matter
of taking the net-next copy. Or at least I think it was :-)
Joe Stringer's fix to the handling of netns id 0 in bpf_sk_lookup()
intermixed with changes on how the sdif and caller_net are calculated
in these code paths in net-next.
The remaining BPF conflicts were largely about the addition of the
__bpf_md_ptr stuff in 'net' overlapping with adjustments and additions
to the relevant data structure where the MD pointer macros are used.

In order to pass extack together with NETDEV_PRE_UP notifications, it's
necessary to route the extack to __dev_open() from diverse (possibly
indirect) callers. One prominent API through which the notification is
invoked is dev_open().
Therefore extend dev_open() with and extra extack argument and update
all users. Most of the calls end up just encoding NULL, but bond and
team drivers have the extack readily available.

Setting up and tearing down debugfs is current unbalanced, as seen by
this error during resume from suspend:

The imbalance happens because the driver creates the debugfs hierarchy
when the device is opened and tears it down when the device is closed.
There's little gain in that, and it could be argued that it is even
surprising because it's not usually done for other devices. Fix the
imbalance by moving the debugfs creation and teardown to the driver's

Note that the ring descriptors cannot be read while the interface is

There are a few MAC/PHYs combinations which now support > 1Gbps. These
may need to make use of link modes with bits > 31. Thus their
supported PHY features or advertised features cannot be implemented
using the current bitmap in a u32. Convert to using a linkmode bitmap,
which can support all the currently devices link modes, and is future
proof as more modes are added.

Databook notes that the RX buffer must be a multiple of 4/8/16

Update the DMA Buffer size define to 8188 instead of 8192. Remove

When building stmmac, it is only possible to select CONFIG_DWMAC_GENERIC,
or any of the glue drivers, when CONFIG_STMMAC_PLATFORM is set.
The only exception is CONFIG_STMMAC_PCI.
When calling of_mdiobus_register(), it will call our ->reset()
callback, which is set to stmmac_mdio_reset().
Most of the code in stmmac_mdio_reset() is protected by a
"#if defined(CONFIG_STMMAC_PLATFORM)", which will evaluate
to false when CONFIG_STMMAC_PLATFORM=m.
Because of this, the phy reset gpio will only be pulled when
stmmac is built as built-in, but not when built as modules.
Fix this by using "#if IS_ENABLED()" instead of "#if defined()".

Use the new of_get_compatible_child() helper to lookup the mdio-internal
child node instead of using of_find_compatible_node(), which searches
the entire tree from a given start node and thus can return an unrelated
(i.e. non-child) node.
This also addresses a potential use-after-free (e.g. after probe
deferral) as the tree-wide helper drops a reference to its first
argument (i.e. the mdio-mux node). Fortunately, this was inadvertently
balanced by a failure to drop the mdio-mux reference after lookup.
While at it, also fix the related mdio-internal- and phy-node reference
leaks.

Currently we are always setting the tail address of descriptor list to
the end of the pre-allocated list.
According to databook this is not correct. Tail address should point to
the last available descriptor + 1, which means we have to update the
tail address everytime we call the xmit function.
This should make no impact in older versions of MAC but in newer
versions there are some DMA features which allows the IP to fetch
descriptors in advance and in a non sequential order so its critical
that we set the tail address correctly.

This follows David Miller advice and tries to fix coalesce timer in
multi-queue scenarios.
We are now using per-queue coalesce values and per-queue TX timer.
Coalesce timer default values was changed to 1ms and the coalesce frames
to 25.
Tested in B2B setup between XGMAC2 and GMAC5.

Some MAC hardware cannot support a subset of link modes. e.g. often

Many Ethernet MAC drivers want to limit the PHY to only advertise a
maximum speed of 100Mbs or 1Gbps. Rather than using a mask, make use

This change in the handling of the coalesce timer is causing regression on
(at least) amlogic platforms.
Network will break down very quickly (a few seconds) after starting
a download. This can easily be reproduced using iperf3 for example.
The problem has been reported on the S805, S905, S912 and A113 SoCs
(Realtek and Micrel PHYs) and it is likely impacting all Amlogics
platforms using Gbit ethernet
No problem was seen with the platform using 10/100 only PHYs (GXL internal)
Reverting change brings things back to normal and allows to use network
again until we better understand the problem with the coalesce timer.

The BTF conflicts were simple overlapping changes.
The virtio_net conflict was an overlap of a fix of statistics counter,

WoL won't work in PCI-based setups because we are not saving the PCI EP
state before entering suspend state and not allowing D3 wake.
Fix this by using a wrapper around stmmac_{suspend/resume} which
correctly sets the PCI EP state.

As for today STMMAC_ALIGN macro (which is used to align DMA stuff)
relies on L1 line length (L1_CACHE_BYTES).
This isn't correct in case of system with several cache levels
which might have L1 cache line length smaller than L2 line. This
can lead to sharing one cache line between DMA buffer and other
data, so we can lose this data while invalidate DMA buffer before
DMA transaction.
Fix that by using SMP_CACHE_BYTES instead of L1_CACHE_BYTES for
aligning.

I observe that the last change to add the 'ul' prefix was incorrect,
as it did not turn the result of the multiplication into a 64-bit
expression on 32-bit architectures. Further, it seems that the
do_div() macro gets confused by the fact that we pass a signed
variable rather than unsigned into it.
This changes the code to instead use the div_s64() helper that is
meant for signed division, along with changing the constant suffix
to 'll' to actually make it a 64-bit argument everywhere, fixing
both of the issues I pointed out.
I'm not completely convinced that this makes the code correct, but
I'm fairly sure that we have two problems less than before.

Add suffix UL to constant 1024 in order to give the compiler complete
information about the proper arithmetic to use. Notice that this
constant is used in a context that expects an expression of type
u64 (64 bits, unsigned) and following expressions are currently
being evaluated using 32-bit arithmetic:

This adds support for CBS reconfiguration using the TC application.
A new callback was added to TC ops struct and another one to DMA ops to
reconfigure the channel mode.

This is clearly a bug.
We need to set the DMA buffer size in the HW otherwise corruption can
occur when receiving packets.
This is probably not occuring because of small MTU values and because HW
has a default value internally (which currently is bigger than default
buffer size).

Pass the extact struct from a tc qdisc add to the block bind function and,
in turn, to the setup_tc ndo of binding device via the tc_block_offload
struct. Pass this back to any block callback registrations to allow
netlink logging of fails in the bind process.

HW does not support Half-duplex mode in multi-queue

The Stratix10 platform has an additional reset line, OCP(Open Core Protocol),
that also needs to get deasserted for the stmmac ethernet controller to work.
Thus we need to update the Kconfig to include ARCH_STRATIX10 in order to build
dwmac-socfpga.
Also, remove the redundant check for the reset controller pointer. The
reset driver already checks for the pointer and returns 0 if the pointer
is NULL.

Currently we were running HWIF quirks before getting HW capabilities.
This is not right because some HWIF callbacks depend on HW caps.
Lets save the quirks callback and use it in a later stage.
This fixes Altera socfpga.

stmmac reception handler calls stmmac_rx_vlan() to strip the vlan before
calling napi_gro_receive().
The function assumes VLAN tagged frames are always tagged with
802.1Q protocol, and assigns ETH_P_8021Q to the skb by hard-coding
the parameter on call to __vlan_hwaccel_put_tag() .
This causes packets not to be passed to the VLAN slave if it was created
with 802.1AD protocol
(ip link add link eth0 eth0.100 type vlan proto 802.1ad id 100).
This fix passes the protocol from the VLAN header into
__vlan_hwaccel_put_tag() instead of using the hard-coded value of
ETH_P_8021Q.
NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_STAG_RX check was added and the strip action is now
dependent on the correct combination of features and the detected vlan tag.
NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_STAG_RX feature was added to be in line with the driver
actual abilities.

This adds support for Flexible PPS output (which is equivalent
to per_out output of PTP subsystem).
Tested using an oscilloscope and the following commands:
1) Start PTP4L:
# ptp4l -A -4 -H -m -i eth0 &
2) Set Flexible PPS frequency:
# echo <idx> <ts> <tns> <ps> <pns> > /sys/class/ptp/ptpX/period
Where, ts/tns is start time and ps/pns is period time, and ptpX is ptp
of eth0.

Some drivers, such as DWC EQOS on Tegra, need to perform operations that
can sleep under this lock (clk_set_rate() in tegra_eqos_fix_speed()) for
proper operation. Since there is no need for this lock to be a spinlock,
convert it to a mutex instead.

Some HW specific setups, like sun8i, do not populate all the necessary
callbacks, which is what HWIF helpers were expecting.
Fix this by always trying to get the generic helpers and populate them
if they were not previously populated by HW specific setup.

Instead of relying on the GMAC version for choosing if we need to use
dma_init or dma_init_{rx/tx}_chan callback, lets uniformize this and
always use the dma_init_{rx/tx}_chan callbacks.
While at it, fix the use of dma_init_chan callback, which shall be
called for as many channels as the max of rx/tx channels.

PTP and MMC modules base address can depend on the GMAC version. As this
is HW specific lets move this base address calculation to hwif.c. Also,
add an entry in the HW table so that we can specify the module offset.
This can later be extended to more modules, if deemed necessary.

This is cutting down performance. Once the timer is armed it should run
after the time expires for the first packet sent and not the last one.
After this change, running iperf, the performance gain is +/- 24%.

This enables OSP (Operate on Second Packet) for GMAC4. The feature
allows DMA to fetch second descriptor while its still processing the
first one.
Running iperf, the performance gain is +/- 38%.

The Allwinner R40 SoC has the EMAC controller supported by dwmac-sun8i.
It is named "GMAC", while EMAC refers to the 10/100 Mbps Ethernet
controller supported by sun4i-emac. The controller is the same, but
the R40 has the glue layer controls in the clock control unit (CCU),
with a reduced RX delay chain, and no TX delay chain.
This patch adds support for it using the framework laid out by previous
patches to map the differences.

On the R40 SoC, the RX delay chain only has a range of 0~7 (hundred
picoseconds), instead of 0~31. Also the TX delay chain is completely
absent.
This patch adds support for different ranges by adding per-compatible
maximum values in the variant data. A maximum of 0 indicates that the
delay chain is not supported or absent.

On the Allwinner R40 SoC, the "GMAC clock" register is in the CCU
address space. Using a standard syscon to access it provides no
coordination with the CCU driver for register access. Neither does
it prevent this and other drivers from accessing other, maybe critical,
clock control registers. On other SoCs, the register is in the "system
control" address space, which might also contain controls for mapping
SRAM to devices or the CPU. This hardware has the same issues.
Instead, for these types of setups, we let the device containing the
control register create a regmap tied to it. We can then get the device
from the existing syscon phandle, and retrieve the regmap with
dev_get_regmap().

On the Allwinner R40, the "GMAC clock" register is located in the CCU
block, at a different register address than the other SoCs that have
it in the "system control" block.
This patch converts the use of regmap to regmap_field for mapping and
accessing the syscon register, so we can have the register address in
the variants data, and not in the actual register manipulation code.
This patch only converts regmap_read() and regmap_write() calls to
regmap_field_read() and regmap_field_write() calls. There are some
places where it might make sense to switch to regmap_field_update_bits(),
but this is not done here to keep the patch simple.

This adds support for U32 filter by using an HW only feature called
Flexible RX Parser. This allow us to match any given packet field with a
pattern and accept/reject or even route the packet to a specific DMA
channel.
Right now we only support acception or rejection of frame and we only
support simple rules. Though, the Parser has the flexibility of jumping to
specific rules as an if condition so complex rules can be established.
This is only supported in GMAC5.10+.
The following commands can be used to test this code:
1) Setup an ingress qdisk:
# tc qdisc add dev eth0 handle ffff: ingress
2) Setup a filter (e.g. filter by IP):
# tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip u32 match ip \
src 192.168.0.3 skip_sw action drop
In every tests performed we always used the "skip_sw" flag to make sure
only the RX Parser was involved.

In the quest to remove all stack VLAs from the kernel[1], this switches
the "status" stack buffer to use the existing small (8) upper bound on
how many queues can be checked for DMA, and adds a sanity-check just to
make sure it doesn't operate under pathological conditions.

In the Meson-AXG SoC, the phy mode setting of PRG_ETH0 in the glue layer
is extended from bit[0] to bit[2:0].
There is no problem if we configure it to the RGMII 1000M PHY mode,
since the register setting is coincidentally compatible with previous one,
but for the RMII 100M PHY mode, the configuration need to be changed to
value - b100.
This patch was verified with a RTL8201F 100M ethernet PHY.

Move all the core version detection to a common place ("hwif.c") and
implement a table which can be used to lookup the correct callbacks for
each IP version.
This simplifies the initialization flow of each IP version and eases
future implementation of new IP versions.

ACS Feature is currently enabled for GMAC >= 4 but the llc_snap status
is never checked in descriptor rx_status callback. This will cause
stmmac to always strip packets even that ACS feature is already
stripping them.
Lets be safe and disable the ACS feature for GMAC >= 4 and always strip
the packets for this GMAC version.

The Meson8m2 SoC uses a similar (potentially even identical) register
layout as the Meson8b and GXBB SoCs for the dwmac glue.
Add a new compatible string and update the module description to
indicate support for these SoCs.

This adds initial suport for DWMAC5 and implements the Automotive Safety
Package which is available from core version 5.10.
The Automotive Safety Pacakge (also called Safety Features) offers us
with error protection in the core by implementing ECC Protection in
memories, on-chip data path parity protection, FSM parity and timeout
protection and Application/CSR interface timeout protection.
In case of an uncorrectable error we call stmmac_global_err() and
reconfigure the whole core.

Currently TX Timeout handler does not behaves as expected and leads to
an unrecoverable state. Rework current implementation of TX Timeout
handling to actually perform a complete reset of the driver state and IP.
We use deferred work to init a task which will be responsible for
resetting the system.

Make dwmac4_release_tx_desc() clear all descriptor fields, not just
TDES2 and TDES3.
I'm suspecting that TDES0 and TDES1 wasn't cleared because the DMA
engine uses them to store the tx hardware timestamp (if PTP is enabled).
However, stmmac_tx_clean() calls stmmac_get_tx_hwtstamp(), which reads
and saves the timestamp, before it calls release_tx_desc(), so this
is not an issue.
stmmac_xmit() and stmmac_tso_xmit() both always overwrite TDES0,
however, stmmac_tso_xmit() sometimes sets TDES1, and since neither
stmmac_xmit() nor stmmac_tso_xmit() explicitly clears TDES1, both
functions might reuse a DMA descriptor with old TDES1 data.
I haven't observed any misbehavior even though TDES1 sometimes
point to an old skb, however, explicitly clearing both TDES0 and TDES1
in dwmac4_release_tx_desc() minimizes the chances of undefined behavior.

According to Documentation/memory-barriers.txt, we need to use a
dma_rmb() after reading the status/own bit, to ensure that all
descriptor fields are read after reading the own bit.
This way, we ensure that the DMA engine is done with the DMA
descriptor before we read the other descriptor fields, e.g. reading
the tx hardware timestamp (if PTP is enabled).

The last memory barrier in stmmac_xmit()/stmmac_tso_xmit() is placed
between a coherent memory write and a MMIO write:
The own bit is written in First Desc (TSO: MSS desc or First Desc).
<barrier>
The DMA engine is started by a write to the tx desc tail pointer/
enable dma transmission register, i.e. a MMIO write.
This barrier cannot be a simple dma_wmb(), since a dma_wmb() is only
used to guarantee the ordering, with respect to other writes,
to cache coherent DMA memory.
To guarantee that the cache coherent memory writes have completed
before we attempt to write to the cache incoherent MMIO region,
we need to use the more heavyweight barrier wmb().

A dma_wmb() is used to guarantee the ordering, with respect to
other writes, to cache coherent DMA memory.
There is a dma_wmb() in prepare_tx_desc()/prepare_tso_tx_desc() which
ensures that TDES0/1/2 is written before TDES3 (which contains the own
bit), for First Desc.
However, in the rare case that MSS changes, there will be a MSS
context descriptor in front of the regular DMA descriptors:

<desc n>
<Last Desc>
Thus, for this special case, we need a dma_wmb()
after prepare_tso_tx_desc()/before writing the own bit to the MSS desc,
so that we flush the write to TDES3 for First Desc,
in order to ensure that the MSS descriptor is the last descriptor to
set the own bit.

The device tree binding for stmmac says:
- Multiple TX Queues parameters: below the list of all the parameters to
configure the multiple TX queues:
- snps,tx-queues-to-use: number of TX queues to be used in the driver
[...]
- For each TX queue
[...]
However, if one specifies snps,tx-queues-to-use = 2,
but omits the queue subnodes, or defines just one queue subnode,
since the driver appears to initialize queues with sane default
values, we will get tx queue timeouts.
This is because the initialization code only initializes
as many queues as it finds subnodes. Potentially leaving
some queues uninitialized.
To avoid hard to debug issues, return an error if the number
of subnodes differ from snps,tx-queues-to-use/snps,rx-queues-to-use.

stmmac_mac_config_rx_queues_routing() incorrectly calls rx_queue_prio()
instead of rx_queue_routing().
This looks like a copy paste issue, since
stmmac_mac_config_rx_queues_prio() already calls rx_queue_prio(),
and both stmmac_mac_config_rx_queues_routing() and
stmmac_mac_config_rx_queues_prio() are very similar in structure.

The current code assumes that a tx_skbuff entry has been cleared
by stmmac_tx_clean() before stmmac_xmit()/stmmac_tso_xmit()
assigns a new skb to that entry. However, since we never check
the current value before overwriting it, it is theoretically
possible that a non-NULL value is overwritten.
Add WARN_ONs to verify that each entry in tx_skbuff is NULL
before it is assigned a new value.

tx_skbuff is initialized to NULL in init_dma_tx_desc_rings(), which is
called from ndo_open().
stmmac_tx_clean() frees any non-NULL skb, and sets the tx_skbuff
entry to NULL. Hence, there is no need to set skbuff entries to NULL
in stmmac_xmit()/stmmac_tso_xmit(), and doing so falsely gives the
reader the impression that it is needed.
Do not clear tx_skbuff entries in stmmac_xmit()/stmmac_tso_xmit().

The DMA engine in dwmac4 can segment a large TSO packet to several
smaller packets of (max) size Maximum Segment Size (MSS).
The DMA engine fetches and saves the MSS via a context descriptor.
This context decriptor has to be provided to each tx DMA channel.
To ensure that this is done, move struct member mss from stmmac_priv
to stmmac_tx_queue.
stmmac_reset_queues_param() now also resets mss, together with other
queue parameters, so reset of mss value can be removed from
stmmac_resume().
init_dma_tx_desc_rings() now also resets mss, together with other
queue parameters, so reset of mss value can be removed from
stmmac_open().
This fixes tx queue timeouts for dwmac4, with DT property
snps,tx-queues-to-use > 1, when running iperf3 with multiple threads.

The common clock framework needs access to the "clock configuration"
structs during runtime.
However, only the common clock framework should access these. Ensure
this by moving the configuration structs out of struct meson8b_dwmac,
so only meson8b_init_rgmii_tx_clk() and the common clock framework know
about these configurations.

Nothing in the dwmac-meson8b driver (except .probe itself) requires the
platform_device anymore after .probe has finished. Replace it with a
pointer to struct device since this is what the functions inside the
driver are actually accessing.

To goal of this patch is to simplify the registration of the RGMII TX
clock (and it's parent clocks). This is achieved by:
- introducing the meson8b_dwmac_register_clk helper-function to remove
code duplication when registering a single clock (this saves a few
lines since we have 4 clocks internally)
- using devm_add_action_or_reset to disable the RGMII TX clock
automatically when needed. This also allows us to re-use the standard
stmmac_pltfr_remove function.
- devm_kasprintf() and devm_kstrdup() are not used anymore to generate
the clock name (these are replaced by a variable on the stack) because
the common clock framework already uses kstrdup() internally.
No functional changes intended.

For dwmac4, GMAC_INT_DEFAULT_ENABLE already includes
GMAC_INT_PMT_EN, so it is redundant to check if hw->pmt
is set, and if so, setting the bit again.
For dwmac1000, GMAC_INT_DEFAULT_MASK does not include
GMAC_INT_DISABLE_PMT, so it is redundant to check if
hw->pmt is set, and if so, clearing an already cleared bit.
Improve code readability by removing this redundant code.
