Packets without the last descriptor set should be dropped early. If we
receive a frame larger than the DMA buffer, the HW will continue using the
next descriptor. Driver mistakes these as individual frames, and sometimes
a truncated frame (without the LD set) may look like a valid packet.
This fixes a strange issue where the system replies to 4098-byte ping
although the MTU/DMA buffer size is set to 4096, and yet at the same
time it's logging an oversized packet.

When using 16K DMA buffers and ring mode, the DES3 refill is not working
correctly as the function is using a bogus pointer for checking the
private data. As a result stale pointers will remain in the RX descriptor
ring, so DMA will now likely overwrite/corrupt some already freed memory.
As simple reproducer, just receive some UDP traffic:
# ifconfig eth0 down; ifconfig eth0 mtu 9000; ifconfig eth0 up
# iperf3 -c 192.168.253.40 -u -b 0 -R
If you didn't crash by now check the RX descriptors to find non-contiguous

Since commit b7d0f08e91, the enable / disable of PCI device is not
managed which will result in IO regions not being automatically unmapped.
As regions continue mapped it is currently not possible to remove and
then probe again the PCI module of stmmac.
Fix this by manually unmapping regions on remove callback.

Several conflicts, seemingly all over the place.
I used Stephen Rothwell's sample resolutions for many of these, if not
just to double check my own work, so definitely the credit largely
goes to him.
The NFP conflict consisted of a bug fix (moving operations
past the rhashtable operation) while chaning the initial
argument in the function call in the moved code.
The net/dsa/master.c conflict had to do with a bug fix intermixing of
making dsa_master_set_mtu() static with the fixing of the tagging
attribute location.
cls_flower had a conflict because the dup reject fix from Or
overlapped with the addition of port range classifiction.
__set_phy_supported()'s conflict was relatively easy to resolve
because Andrew fixed it in both trees, so it was just a matter
of taking the net-next copy. Or at least I think it was :-)
Joe Stringer's fix to the handling of netns id 0 in bpf_sk_lookup()
intermixed with changes on how the sdif and caller_net are calculated
in these code paths in net-next.
The remaining BPF conflicts were largely about the addition of the
__bpf_md_ptr stuff in 'net' overlapping with adjustments and additions
to the relevant data structure where the MD pointer macros are used.

In order to pass extack together with NETDEV_PRE_UP notifications, it's
necessary to route the extack to __dev_open() from diverse (possibly
indirect) callers. One prominent API through which the notification is
invoked is dev_open().
Therefore extend dev_open() with and extra extack argument and update
all users. Most of the calls end up just encoding NULL, but bond and
team drivers have the extack readily available.

Setting up and tearing down debugfs is current unbalanced, as seen by
this error during resume from suspend:
[ 752.134067] dwc-eth-dwmac 2490000.ethernet eth0: ERROR failed to create debugfs directory
[ 752.134347] dwc-eth-dwmac 2490000.ethernet eth0: stmmac_hw_setup: failed debugFS registration
The imbalance happens because the driver creates the debugfs hierarchy
when the device is opened and tears it down when the device is closed.
There's little gain in that, and it could be argued that it is even
surprising because it's not usually done for other devices. Fix the
imbalance by moving the debugfs creation and teardown to the driver's
->probe() and ->remove() implementations instead.
Note that the ring descriptors cannot be read while the interface is
down, so make sure to return an empty file when the descriptors_status
debugfs file is read.

When building stmmac, it is only possible to select CONFIG_DWMAC_GENERIC,
or any of the glue drivers, when CONFIG_STMMAC_PLATFORM is set.
The only exception is CONFIG_STMMAC_PCI.
When calling of_mdiobus_register(), it will call our ->reset()
callback, which is set to stmmac_mdio_reset().
Most of the code in stmmac_mdio_reset() is protected by a
"#if defined(CONFIG_STMMAC_PLATFORM)", which will evaluate
to false when CONFIG_STMMAC_PLATFORM=m.
Because of this, the phy reset gpio will only be pulled when
stmmac is built as built-in, but not when built as modules.
Fix this by using "#if IS_ENABLED()" instead of "#if defined()".

Use the new of_get_compatible_child() helper to lookup the mdio-internal
child node instead of using of_find_compatible_node(), which searches
the entire tree from a given start node and thus can return an unrelated
(i.e. non-child) node.
This also addresses a potential use-after-free (e.g. after probe
deferral) as the tree-wide helper drops a reference to its first
argument (i.e. the mdio-mux node). Fortunately, this was inadvertently
balanced by a failure to drop the mdio-mux reference after lookup.
While at it, also fix the related mdio-internal- and phy-node reference
leaks.

Currently we are always setting the tail address of descriptor list to
the end of the pre-allocated list.
According to databook this is not correct. Tail address should point to
the last available descriptor + 1, which means we have to update the
tail address everytime we call the xmit function.
This should make no impact in older versions of MAC but in newer
versions there are some DMA features which allows the IP to fetch
descriptors in advance and in a non sequential order so its critical
that we set the tail address correctly.

This reverts commit 4ae0169fd1.
This change in the handling of the coalesce timer is causing regression on
(at least) amlogic platforms.
Network will break down very quickly (a few seconds) after starting
a download. This can easily be reproduced using iperf3 for example.
The problem has been reported on the S805, S905, S912 and A113 SoCs
(Realtek and Micrel PHYs) and it is likely impacting all Amlogics
platforms using Gbit ethernet
No problem was seen with the platform using 10/100 only PHYs (GXL internal)
Reverting change brings things back to normal and allows to use network
again until we better understand the problem with the coalesce timer.

As for today STMMAC_ALIGN macro (which is used to align DMA stuff)
relies on L1 line length (L1_CACHE_BYTES).
This isn't correct in case of system with several cache levels
which might have L1 cache line length smaller than L2 line. This
can lead to sharing one cache line between DMA buffer and other
data, so we can lose this data while invalidate DMA buffer before
DMA transaction.
Fix that by using SMP_CACHE_BYTES instead of L1_CACHE_BYTES for
aligning.

I observe that the last change to add the 'ul' prefix was incorrect,
as it did not turn the result of the multiplication into a 64-bit
expression on 32-bit architectures. Further, it seems that the
do_div() macro gets confused by the fact that we pass a signed
variable rather than unsigned into it.
This changes the code to instead use the div_s64() helper that is
meant for signed division, along with changing the constant suffix
to 'll' to actually make it a 64-bit argument everywhere, fixing
both of the issues I pointed out.
I'm not completely convinced that this makes the code correct, but
I'm fairly sure that we have two problems less than before.

stmmac reception handler calls stmmac_rx_vlan() to strip the vlan before
calling napi_gro_receive().
The function assumes VLAN tagged frames are always tagged with
802.1Q protocol, and assigns ETH_P_8021Q to the skb by hard-coding
the parameter on call to __vlan_hwaccel_put_tag() .
This causes packets not to be passed to the VLAN slave if it was created
with 802.1AD protocol
(ip link add link eth0 eth0.100 type vlan proto 802.1ad id 100).
This fix passes the protocol from the VLAN header into
__vlan_hwaccel_put_tag() instead of using the hard-coded value of
ETH_P_8021Q.
NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_STAG_RX check was added and the strip action is now
dependent on the correct combination of features and the detected vlan tag.
NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_STAG_RX feature was added to be in line with the driver
actual abilities.

The Allwinner R40 SoC has the EMAC controller supported by dwmac-sun8i.

On the Allwinner R40 SoC, the "GMAC clock" register is in the CCU
address space. Using a standard syscon to access it provides no
coordination with the CCU driver for register access. Neither does
it prevent this and other drivers from accessing other, maybe critical,
clock control registers. On other SoCs, the register is in the "system
control" address space, which might also contain controls for mapping
SRAM to devices or the CPU. This hardware has the same issues.
Instead, for these types of setups, we let the device containing the
control register create a regmap tied to it. We can then get the device
from the existing syscon phandle, and retrieve the regmap with
dev_get_regmap().

On the Allwinner R40, the "GMAC clock" register is located in the CCU
block, at a different register address than the other SoCs that have
it in the "system control" block.
This patch converts the use of regmap to regmap_field for mapping and
accessing the syscon register, so we can have the register address in

This patch only converts regmap_read() and regmap_write() calls to
regmap_field_read() and regmap_field_write() calls. There are some
places where it might make sense to switch to regmap_field_update_bits(),
but this is not done here to keep the patch simple.

This adds support for U32 filter by using an HW only feature called
Flexible RX Parser. This allow us to match any given packet field with a
pattern and accept/reject or even route the packet to a specific DMA
channel.
Right now we only support acception or rejection of frame and we only
support simple rules. Though, the Parser has the flexibility of jumping to
specific rules as an if condition so complex rules can be established.
This is only supported in GMAC5.10+.
The following commands can be used to test this code:
1) Setup an ingress qdisk:
# tc qdisc add dev eth0 handle ffff: ingress
2) Setup a filter (e.g. filter by IP):
# tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip u32 match ip \
src 192.168.0.3 skip_sw action drop
In every tests performed we always used the "skip_sw" flag to make sure
only the RX Parser was involved.

Make dwmac4_release_tx_desc() clear all descriptor fields, not just
TDES2 and TDES3.
I'm suspecting that TDES0 and TDES1 wasn't cleared because the DMA
engine uses them to store the tx hardware timestamp (if PTP is enabled).
However, stmmac_tx_clean() calls stmmac_get_tx_hwtstamp(), which reads
and saves the timestamp, before it calls release_tx_desc(), so this
is not an issue.
stmmac_xmit() and stmmac_tso_xmit() both always overwrite TDES0,
however, stmmac_tso_xmit() sometimes sets TDES1, and since neither
stmmac_xmit() nor stmmac_tso_xmit() explicitly clears TDES1, both
functions might reuse a DMA descriptor with old TDES1 data.
I haven't observed any misbehavior even though TDES1 sometimes
point to an old skb, however, explicitly clearing both TDES0 and TDES1
in dwmac4_release_tx_desc() minimizes the chances of undefined behavior.

The last memory barrier in stmmac_xmit()/stmmac_tso_xmit() is placed
between a coherent memory write and a MMIO write:
The own bit is written in First Desc (TSO: MSS desc or First Desc).
<barrier>
The DMA engine is started by a write to the tx desc tail pointer/
enable dma transmission register, i.e. a MMIO write.
This barrier cannot be a simple dma_wmb(), since a dma_wmb() is only
used to guarantee the ordering, with respect to other writes,
to cache coherent DMA memory.
To guarantee that the cache coherent memory writes have completed
before we attempt to write to the cache incoherent MMIO region,
we need to use the more heavyweight barrier wmb().

A dma_wmb() is used to guarantee the ordering, with respect to
other writes, to cache coherent DMA memory.
There is a dma_wmb() in prepare_tx_desc()/prepare_tso_tx_desc() which
ensures that TDES0/1/2 is written before TDES3 (which contains the own
bit), for First Desc.
However, in the rare case that MSS changes, there will be a MSS
context descriptor in front of the regular DMA descriptors:
<MSS desc> <- DMA Next Descriptor
<First Desc>
<desc n>
<Last Desc>
Thus, for this special case, we need a dma_wmb()
after prepare_tso_tx_desc()/before writing the own bit to the MSS desc,
so that we flush the write to TDES3 for First Desc,
in order to ensure that the MSS descriptor is the last descriptor to
set the own bit.

To goal of this patch is to simplify the registration of the RGMII TX
clock (and it's parent clocks). This is achieved by:
- introducing the meson8b_dwmac_register_clk helper-function to remove
code duplication when registering a single clock (this saves a few
lines since we have 4 clocks internally)
- using devm_add_action_or_reset to disable the RGMII TX clock
automatically when needed. This also allows us to re-use the standard
stmmac_pltfr_remove function.
- devm_kasprintf() and devm_kstrdup() are not used anymore to generate
the clock name (these are replaced by a variable on the stack) because
the common clock framework already uses kstrdup() internally.

the int is generally regarded as true with a non-zero value,

Broadcom tags inserted by Broadcom switches put a 4 byte header after
the MAC SA and before the EtherType, which may look like some sort of 0
length LLC/SNAP packet (tcpdump and wireshark do think that way). With
ACS enabled in stmmac the packets were truncated to 8 bytes on
reception, whereas clearing this bit allowed normal reception to occur.
In order to make that possible, we need to pass a net_device argument to
the different core_init() functions and we are dependent on the Broadcom
tagger padding packets correctly (which it now does). To be as little

On Meson8b the only valid input clock is MPLL2. The bootloader
configures that to run at 500002394Hz which cannot be divided evenly
down to 125MHz using the m250_div clock. Currently the common clock
framework chooses a m250_div of 2 - with the internal fixed
"divide by 10" this results in a RGMII TX clock of 125001197Hz (120Hz
above the requested 125MHz).
Letting the common clock framework propagate the rate changes up to the
parent of m250_mux allows us to get the best possible clock rate. With
this patch the common clock framework calculates a rate of
very-close-to-250MHz (249999701Hz to be exact) for the MPLL2 clock
(which is the mux input). Dividing that by 2 (which is an internal,
fixed divider for the RGMII TX clock) gives us an RGMII TX clock of
124999850Hz (which is only 150Hz off the requested 125MHz, compared to
1197Hz based on the MPLL2 rate set by u-boot and the Amlogic GPL kernel
sources).
SoCs from the Meson GX series are not affected by this change because
the input clock is FCLK_DIV2 whose rate cannot be changed (which is fine
since it's running at 1GHz, so it's already a multiple of 250MHz and
125MHz).

Meson8b only supports MPLL2 as clock input. The rate of the MPLL2 clock
set by Odroid-C1's u-boot is close to (but not exactly) 500MHz. The
exact rate is 500002394Hz, which is calculated in
drivers/clk/meson/clk-mpll.c using the following formula:
DIV_ROUND_UP_ULL((u64)parent_rate * SDM_DEN, (SDM_DEN * n2) + sdm)
Odroid-C1's u-boot configures MPLL2 with the following values:
- SDM_DEN = 16384
- SDM = 1638
- N2 = 5
The 250MHz clock (m250_div) inside dwmac-meson8b driver is derived from
the MPLL2 clock. Due to MPLL2 running slightly faster than 500MHz the
common clock framework chooses a divider which is too big to generate
the 250MHz clock (a divider of 2 would be needed, but this is rounded up
to a divider of 3). This breaks the RTL8211F RGMII PHY on Odroid-C1
because it requires a (close to) 125MHz RGMII TX clock (on Gbit speeds,
the IP block internally divides that down to 25MHz on 100Mbit/s
connections and 2.5MHz on 10Mbit/s connections - we don't need any
special configuration for that).
Round the divider to the closest value to prevent this issue on Meson8b.
This means we'll now end up with a clock rate for the RGMII TX clock of
125001197Hz (= 125MHz plus 1197Hz), which is close-enough to 125MHz.
This has no effect on the Meson GX SoCs since there fclk_div2 is used as
input clock, which has a rate of 1000MHz (and thus is divisible cleanly
to 250MHz and 125MHz).

Tests (using an oscilloscope and an Odroid-C1 board with a RTL8211F
RGMII PHY) have shown that the PRG_ETH0 register behaves as follows:
- bit 4 is a mux to choose between two parent clocks. according to the
public S805 datasheet the only supported parent clock is MPLL2 (this
was not verified using the oscilloscope).
The public S805/S905 datasheet claims that this bit is reserved.
- bits 9:7 control a one-based divider (register value 1 means "divide
by 1", etc.) for the input clock. we call this clock the "m250_div"
clock because it's value is always supposed to be (close to) 250MHz
(see below for an explanation).
The description in the public S805/S905 datasheet is a bit cryptic,
but it comes down to "input clock = 250MHz * value" (which could also
be expressed as "250MHz = input clock / value")
- there seems to be an internal fixed divide-by-2 clock which takes the
output from the m250_div and divides it by 2. This is not unusual on
Amlogic SoCs, since the SDIO (MMC) driver also uses an internal fixed
divide-by-2 clock.
This is not documented in the public S805/S905 datasheet
- bit 10 controls a gate clock which enables or disables the RGMII TX
clock (which is an output on the MAC/SoC and an input in the PHY). we
call this the "rgmii_tx_en" clock. if this bit is set to "0" the RGMII
TX clock output is close to 0
The description for this bit in the public S805/S905 datasheet is
"Generate 25MHz clock for PHY". Based on these tests it's believed
that this is wrong, and should probably read "Generate the 125MHz
RGMII TX clock for the PHY"
- the RGMII TX clock has to be set to 125MHz - the IP block adjusts the
output (automatically) depending on the line speed (RGMII specifies
that Gbit connections use a 125MHz clock, 100Mbit/s connections use a
25MHz clock and 10Mbit/s connections use a 2.5MHz clock. only Gbit and
100Mbit/s were tested with an oscilloscope). Due to the requirement
that this clock always has to be set to 125MHz and due to the fixed
divide-by-2 parent clock this means that m250_div will always end up
with a rate of (close to) 250MHz.
- bits 6:5 are the TX delay, which is also named "clock phase" in some
of Amlogic's older GPL kernel sources.
The PHY also has an XTAL_IN pin where a 25MHz clock has to be provided.
Tests with the oscilloscope have shown that this is routed to a crystal
right next to the RTL8211F PHY. The same seems to be true on the Khadas
VIM2 (which uses a GXM SoC) board - however the 25MHz crystal is on the
other side of the PCB there.
This updates the clocks in the dwmac-meson8b driver by replacing the
"m25_div" with the "rgmii_tx_en" clock and additionally introducing a
fixed divide-by-2 clock between "m250_div" and "rgmii_tx_en".
Now we also need to set a frequency of 125MHz on the RGMII clock
(opposed to the 25MHz we set before, with that non-existing
divide-by-5-or-10 divider).
Special thanks go to Linus Lüssing for testing the various bits and
checking the results with an oscilloscope on his Odroid-C1!

Neither the m25_div_clk nor the m250_div_clk or m250_mux_clk are used in
RMII mode. The m25_div_clk output is routed to the RGMII PHY's "RGMII
clock".
This means that we don't need to configure the clocks in RMII mode. The
driver however did this - with no effect since the clocks are not routed
to the PHY in RMII mode.
While here also rename meson8b_init_clk to meson8b_init_rgmii_tx_clk to
make it easier to understand the code.

There is nothing that says that number of TX queues == number of RX
queues. E.g. the ARTPEC-6 SoC has 2 TX queues and 1 RX queue.
This code is obviously wrong:
for (chan = 0; chan < tx_channel_count; chan++) {
struct stmmac_rx_queue *rx_q = &priv->rx_queue[chan];
priv->rx_queue has size MTL_MAX_RX_QUEUES, so this will send an
uninitialized napi_struct to __napi_schedule(), causing us to
crash in net_rx_action(), because napi_struct->poll is zero.

Since each DMA channel can be used for rx and tx simultaneously,
the current code should probably be rewritten so that napi_struct is
embedded in a new struct stmmac_channel.
That way, stmmac_poll() can call stmmac_tx_clean() on just the tx queue
where we got the IRQ, instead of looping through all tx queues.
This is also how the xgbe driver does it (another driver for this IP).

During a network device down/up cycle (mapped to stmmac_release() and

forgets the setting for mss. However we did not zero out our mss

The LPI transitioning logic in stmmac_main uses
priv->tx_path_in_lpi_mode to enter/exit LPI.
However, priv->tx_path_in_lpi_mode is assigned
using the return value from host_irq_status().
So for dwmac4, priv->tx_path_in_lpi_mode was always false,
so stmmac_tx_clean() would always try to put us in eee mode,
and stmmac_xmit() would never take us out of eee mode.
To fix this, make host_irq_status() read and return the LPI
irq status also for dwmac4.
This also increments the existing LPI counters, so that
ethtool --statistics shows LPI transitions also for dwmac4.
For dwmac1000, irqs are enabled/disabled using the register
named "Interrupt Mask Register", and thus setting a bit disables
that specific irq.
For dwmac4 the matching register is named "MAC_Interrupt_Enable",
and thus setting a bit enables that specific irq.
Looking at dwmac1000_core.c, the irqs that are always enabled are:
LPI and PMT.
Looking at dwmac4_core.c, the irqs that are always enabled are:
PMT.
To be able to read the LPI irq status, we need to enable the LPI
irq also for dwmac4.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------

((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

applied SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

License cleanup: add SPDX license identifier to uapi header files with a license
License cleanup: add SPDX license identifier to uapi header files with no license
License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
---------------------------------------------------|------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3

There were quite a few overlapping sets of changes here.
Daniel's bug fix for off-by-ones in the new BPF branch instructions,
along with the added allowances for "data_end > ptr + x" forms
collided with the metadata additions.
Along with those three changes came veritifer test cases, which in
their final form I tried to group together properly. If I had just
trimmed GIT's conflict tags as-is, this would have split up the
meta tests unnecessarily.
In the socketmap code, a set of preemption disabling changes

Currently, the function stmmac_mdio_register() is only used by
stmmac_dvr_probe() from stmmac_main.c, in order to register the MDIO bus
and probe information about the PHY. As this function is called before
calling register_netdev(), all messages logged from stmmac_mdio_register
are prefixed by "(unnamed net_device)". The goal of netdev_info or
netdev_err is to dump useful infos about a net_device, when this data
structure is partially initialized, there is no point for using these
functions.
This commit fixes the issue by replacing all netdev_*() by the
corresponding dev_*() function for logging. The last netdev_info is
replaced by phy_attached_info(), as a valid phydev can be used at this
point.

When having the skb pointer in the first descriptor, stmmac_tx_clean
can get called at a moment where the IP has only cleared the own bit
of the first descriptor, thus freeing the skb, even though there can
be several descriptors whose buffers point into the same skb.
By simply moving the skb pointer from the first descriptor to the last
descriptor, a skb will get freed only when the IP has cleared the
own bit of all the descriptors that are using that skb.

Allwinner V3s SoC has an Ethernet MAC and an internal PHY like the ones
in H3 SoC, however the MAC has no external *MII interfaces available at
GPIOs, thus only MII connection to internal PHY is supported.
Add this variant of EMAC to dwmac-sun8i driver.

The EPHY control part of the EMAC syscon register has a bit called
CLK_SEL. On the datasheet it says that if it's 0 the EPHY clock is 25MHz
and if it's 1 the clock is 24MHz.
However, according to the datasheets, no Allwinner SoC with EPHY has any
extra xtal input pins for the EPHY, and the system xtal is 24MHz.
That means the EPHY is not possible to get a 25MHz xtal input, and thus
the frequency can only be 24MHz.
It doesn't matter on H3 as the default value of H3 is 24MHz, however on
V3s the default value is wrongly set to 25MHz, which prevented the EPHY
from working properly.
Force the EPHY clock frequency to 24MHz.

stmmac_tso_allocator can fail to set the Last Descriptor bit

This happens when the buffer of the last descriptor ends
up having a size of exactly TSO_MAX_BUFF_SIZE.
When the IP eventually reaches the next last descriptor,
which actually has the bit set, the DMA will hang.
When the DMA hangs, we get a tx timeout, however,

The EPHY may be already enabled by bootloaders which have Ethernet
capability (e.g. current U-Boot). Thus it should be reseted properly
before doing the enabling sequence in the dwmac-sun8i driver, otherwise
the EMAC reset process may fail if no cable is plugged, and then fail
the dwmac-sun8i probing.
Tested on Orange Pi PC, One and Zero. All the boards fail to have
dwmac-sun8i probed with "EMAC reset timeout" without cable plugged
before, and with this fix they're now all able to successfully probe the

Field FL/TPL in register TDES3 is not correctly set on GMAC4.
TX appears to be functional on GMAC 4.10a even if this field is not set,
however, to avoid relying on undefined behavior, set the length in TDES3.
The field has a different meaning depending on if the TSE bit in TDES3
is set or not (TSO). However, regardless of the TSE bit, the field is
not optional. The field is already set correctly when the TSE bit is set.
Since there is no limit for the number of descriptors that can be
used for a single packet, the field should be set to the sum of
the buffers contained in:
[<desc with First Descriptor bit set> ... <desc n> ...
<desc with Last Descriptor bit set>], which should be equal to skb->len.

The stmmac driver have two methods for registers dumps: via ethtool and
at init (if NETIF_MSG_HW is enabled).
It is better to keep only one method, ethtool, since the other was ugly.
This patch convert all dump_regs() function from "printing regs" to
"fill the reg_space used by ethtool".
