7c84f7f80d hwmon: add support for Sensirion SHT3x sensors
This driver implements support for the Sensirion SHT3x-DIS chip,
a humidity and temperature sensor. Temperature is measured
in degrees celsius, relative humidity is expressed as a percentage.
In the sysfs interface, all values are scaled by 1000,
i.e. the value for 31.5 degrees celsius is 31500.

e9ad9b9bd3 The most interesting thing (IMO) this time around is some beginning
infrastructural work to allow documents to be written using restructured
text. Maybe someday, in a galaxy far far away, we'll be able to eliminate
the DocBook dependency and have a much better integrated set of kernel
 docs. Someday.

Beyond that, there's a new document on security hardening from Kees, the
movement of some sample code over to samples/, a number of improvements to
the serial docs from Geert, and the usual collection of corrections, typo
 fixes, etc.

df92270357 hwmon: Add LTC2990 sensor driver
This adds support for the Linear Technology LTC2990 I2C System Monitor.
The LTC2990 supports a combination of voltage, current and temperature
monitoring. This driver currently only supports reading two currents
by measuring two differential voltages across series resistors, in
addition to the Vcc supply voltage and internal temperature.

This is sufficient to support the Topic Miami SOM which uses this chip
to monitor the currents flowing into the FPGA and the CPU parts.

b44a3d2a85 ARM: SoC driver updates for v4.4
As we've enabled multiplatform kernels on ARM, and greatly done away with
the contents under arch/arm/mach-*, there's still need for SoC-related
 drivers to go somewhere.

Many of them go in through other driver trees, but we still have
drivers/soc to hold some of the "doesn't fit anywhere" lowlevel code
that might be shared between ARM and ARM64 (or just in general makes
sense to not have under the architecture directory).

This branch contains mostly such code:

 - Drivers for qualcomm SoCs for SMEM, SMD and SMD-RPM, used to communicate
with power management blocks on these SoCs for use by clock, regulator and
   bus frequency drivers.
 - Allwinner Reduced Serial Bus driver, again used to communicate with PMICs.
 - Drivers for ARM's SCPI (System Control Processor). Not to be confused with
PSCI (Power State Coordination Interface). SCPI is used to communicate with
the assistant embedded cores doing power management, and we have yet to see
how many of them will implement this for their hardware vs abstracting in
other ways (or not at all like in the past).
 - To make confusion between SCPI and PSCI more likely, this release also
includes an update of PSCI to interface version 1.0.
 - Rockchip support for power domains.
 - A driver to talk to the firmware on Raspberry Pi.

50bf46509f hwmon: (lm77) Do not preserve hysteresis when updating critical temp limit
Updating the hysteresis value when updating the critical temperature limit
was following the rule of 'least surprise'. However, it had the undesirable
side effect of changing the hysteresis for all other attributes, which
defeats the purpose of least surprise. In addition, it could result in
invalid hysteresis values if the resulting hysteresis was too large. In such
cases the resulting hysteresis ended up changed anyway, which again defeats
the purpose. So drop that code and document the new behavior.

established way to express this is to make only the first instance writable

while it is more obvious that a writable value may affect a different

594fbe713b Add support for GMT G762/G763 PWM fan controllers
GMT G762/763 fan speed PWM controller is connected directly to a fan
and performs closed-loop or open-loop control of the fan speed. Two
modes - PWM or DC - are supported by the chip. Introduced driver
provides various knobs to control the operations of the chip (via
sysfs interface). Specific characteristics of the system can be passed
either using board init code or via DT. Documentation for both the
driver and DT bindings are also provided.

0cd2c72d76 hwmon: (lm75) Tune resolution and sample time per chip
Most LM75-compatible chips can either sample much faster or with a
much better resolution than the original LM75 chip. So far the lm75
driver did not let the user take benefit of these improvements. Do it
now.

I decided to almost always configure the chip to use the best
resolution possible, which also means the longest sample time. The
only chips for which I didn't are the DS75, DS1775 and STDS75, because
they are really too slow in 12-bit mode (1.2 to 1.5 second worst case)
so I went for 11-bit mode as a more reasonable tradeoff. This choice is
dictated by the fact that the hwmon subsystem is meant for system
monitoring, it has never been supposed to be ultra-fast, and as a
matter of fact we do cache the sampled values in almost all drivers.

If anyone isn't pleased with these default settings, they can always
introduce a platform data structure or DT support for the lm75. That
being said, it seems nobody ever complained that the driver wouldn't
refresh the value faster than every 1.5 second, and the change made
it faster for all chips even in 12-bit mode, so I don't expect any
complaint.

51c2a4871c hwmon: (adt7410) Add support for the adt7310/adt7320
The adt7310/adt7320 is the SPI version of the adt7410/adt7420. The register map
layout is a bit different, i.e. the register addresses differ between the two
variants, but the bit layouts of the individual registers are identical. So both
chip variants can easily be supported by the same driver. The issue of non
matching register address layouts is solved by a simple look-up table which
translates the I2C addresses to the SPI addresses.

The patch moves the bulk of the adt7410 driver to a common module that will be
shared by the adt7410 and adt7310 drivers. This common module implements the
driver logic and uses a set of virtual functions to perform IO access. The
adt7410 and adt7310 driver modules provide proper implementations of these IO
accessor functions for I2C respective SPI.

Hans de Goede
312869ec93 hwmon: (sch56xx) Add support for the integrated watchdog (v2)
Add support for the watchdog integrated into the SMSC SCH5627 and
SCH5636 superio-s. Since the watchdog is part of the hwmon logical device
and thus shares ioports with it, the watchdog driver is integrated into the
existing hwmon drivers for these.

Note that this version of the watchdog support for sch56xx superio-s
implements the watchdog chardev interface itself, rather then relying on
the recently added watchdog core / watchdog_dev. This is done because
currently some needed functionality is missing from watchdog_dev, as soon
as this functionality is added (which is being discussed on the
linux-watchdog mailinglist), I'll convert this driver over to using
watchdog_dev.
