Some platforms, such as Intel MID and mshypv, do not support legacy
interrupt controllers. So count legacy IRQs by legacy_pic->nr_legacy_irqs

The DMA Contiguous Memory Allocator support on x86 is disabled when
swiotlb config option is enabled. So DMA CMA is always disabled on
x86_64 because swiotlb is always enabled. This attempts to support for
DMA CMA with enabling swiotlb config option.
The contiguous memory allocator on x86 is integrated in the function
dma_generic_alloc_coherent() which is .alloc callback in nommu_dma_ops
for dma_alloc_coherent().
x86_swiotlb_alloc_coherent() which is .alloc callback in swiotlb_dma_ops
tries to allocate with dma_generic_alloc_coherent() firstly and then
swiotlb_alloc_coherent() is called as a fallback.
The main part of supporting DMA CMA with swiotlb is that changing
x86_swiotlb_free_coherent() which is .free callback in swiotlb_dma_ops
for dma_free_coherent() so that it can distinguish memory allocated by
dma_generic_alloc_coherent() from one allocated by
swiotlb_alloc_coherent() and release it with dma_generic_free_coherent()
which can handle contiguous memory. This change requires making
is_swiotlb_buffer() global function.
This also needs to change .free callback in the dma_map_ops for amd_gart
and sta2x11, because these dma_ops are also using
dma_generic_alloc_coherent().

The BIOS is supposed to provide ACPI _PXM methods for PCI host bridges if
it cares about platform topology. But some BIOSes do not, so add Fam15h
to the list of CPUs for which we fall back to reading node numbers from the
hardware.
Note that pci_acpi_scan_root() warns about the BIOS bug if we use this
information because (1) the hardware node numbers are not necessarily
compatible with other logical node numbers from ACPI, and (2) the lack of
_PXM forces OS updates that would not otherwise be required.

The vast majority of platforms are not supplying ACPI _PXM (proximity)
information corresponding to host bridge (PNP0A03/PNP0A08) devices
resulting in sysfs "numa_node" values of -1 (NUMA_NO_NODE):

AMD based platforms provide a fall-back for this situation via amd_bus.c.
These platforms snoop out the information by directly reading specific
registers from the Northbridge and caching them via alloc_pci_root_info().
Later during boot processing when host bridges are discovered -
pci_acpi_scan_root() - the kernel looks for their corresponding ACPI _PXM
method - drivers/acpi/numa.c::acpi_get_node(). If the BIOS supplied a _PXM
method then that node (proximity) value is associated. If the BIOS did not
supply a _PXM method *and* the platform is AMD-based, the fall-back cached
values obtained directly from the Northbridge are used; otherwise,
"NUMA_NO_NODE" is associated.
There are a number of issues with this fall-back mechanism the most notable
being that amd_bus.c extracts a 3-bit number from a CPU register and uses
it as the node number. The node numbers used by Linux are logical and
there's no reason they need to be identical to settings in the CPU
registers. So if we have some node information obtained in the normal way
(from _PXM, SLIT, SRAT, etc.) and some from amd_bus.c, there's no reason to
believe they will be compatible.
This patch warns when this situation occurs:

Bodo reported that on the Asrock M3A UCC, v3.12.6 hangs during boot unless
he uses "pci=nocrs". This regression was caused by 7bc5e3f2be ("x86/PCI:
use host bridge _CRS info by default on 2008 and newer machines"), which
appeared in v2.6.34.
The reason is that the HPET address appears in a PCI device BAR, and this
address is not contained in any of the host bridge windows. Linux moves
the PCI BAR into a window, but the original address was published via the
HPET table and an ACPI device, so changing the BAR is a bad idea. Here's

When we notice the BAR is not in a host bridge window, we try to move it,
but that causes a hang shortly thereafter:

This patch marks the BAR as IORESOURCE_PCI_FIXED to prevent Linux from

IORESOURCE_PCI_FIXED resources") to check for this flag when
pci_claim_resource() fails.

In the expression "word1 << 16", word1 starts as u16, but is promoted to
a signed int, then sign-extended to resource_size_t, which is probably
not what was intended. Cast to resource_size_t to avoid the sign

Add support for MSI message groups for Xen Dom0 using the
MAP_PIRQ_TYPE_MULTI_MSI pirq map type.
In order to keep track of which pirq is the first one in the group all
pirqs in the MSI group except for the first one have the newly
introduced PIRQ_MSI_GROUP flag set. This prevents calling
PHYSDEVOP_unmap_pirq on them, since the unmap must be done with the
first pirq in the group.

Setting the IORESOURCE_ROM_SHADOW flag on a VGA card other than the primary
prevents it from reading its own ROM. It will get the content of the
shadow ROM at C000 instead, which is of the primary VGA card and the driver
of the secondary card will bail out.
Fix this by checking if the arch code or vga-arbitration has already
determined the vga_default_device, if so only apply the fix to this primary
video device and let the comment reflect this.

NUMA_NO_NODE is the usual value for "we don't know what node this is on,"
e.g., it is the error return from acpi_get_node(). This changes uses of -1
to NUMA_NO_NODE. NUMA_NO_NODE is #defined to be -1 already, so this is not
a functional change.

The AMD early_fill_mp_bus_info() already allocates a struct pci_root_info
for each PCI host bridge it finds, and that structure contains the NUMA
node number. We don't need to keep the same information in the
mp_bus_to_node[] table.
This adds x86_pci_root_bus_node(), which returns the NUMA node number, or
NUMA_NO_NODE if the node is unknown.
Note that unlike get_mp_bus_to_node(), x86_pci_root_bus_node() only works
for root buses. For example, if amd_bus.c finds a host bridge on node 1 to
[bus 00-0f], get_mp_bus_to_node() returns 1 for any bus between 00 and 0f,
but x86_pci_root_bus_node() returns 1 for bus 00 and NUMA_NO_NODE for buses
01-0f.

Change x86_msi.restore_msi_irqs(struct pci_dev *dev, int irq) to
x86_msi.restore_msi_irqs(struct pci_dev *dev).
restore_msi_irqs() restores multiple MSI-X IRQs, so param 'int irq' is
unneeded. This makes code more consistent between vm and bare metal.
Dom0 MSI-X restore code can also be optimized as XEN only has a hypercall
to restore all MSI-X vectors at one time.

Replace direct inclusions of <acpi/acpi.h>, <acpi/acpi_bus.h> and
<acpi/acpi_drivers.h>, which are incorrect, with <linux/acpi.h>
inclusions and remove some inclusions of those files that aren't
necessary.
First of all, <acpi/acpi.h>, <acpi/acpi_bus.h> and <acpi/acpi_drivers.h>
should not be included directly from any files that are built for
CONFIG_ACPI unset, because that generally leads to build warnings about
undefined symbols in !CONFIG_ACPI builds. For CONFIG_ACPI set,
<linux/acpi.h> includes those files and for CONFIG_ACPI unset it
provides stub ACPI symbols to be used in that case.
Second, there are ordering dependencies between those files that always
have to be met. Namely, it is required that <acpi/acpi_bus.h> be included
prior to <acpi/acpi_drivers.h> so that the acpi_pci_root declarations the
latter depends on are always there. And <acpi/acpi.h> which provides
basic ACPICA type declarations should always be included prior to any other
ACPI headers in CONFIG_ACPI builds. That also is taken care of including
<linux/acpi.h> as appropriate.

Modify struct acpi_dev_node to contain a pointer to struct acpi_device
associated with the given device object (that is, its ACPI companion
device) instead of an ACPI handle corresponding to it. Introduce two
new macros for manipulating that pointer in a CONFIG_ACPI-safe way,
ACPI_COMPANION() and ACPI_COMPANION_SET(), and rework the
ACPI_HANDLE() macro to take the above changes into account.
Drop the ACPI_HANDLE_SET() macro entirely and rework its users to
use ACPI_COMPANION_SET() instead. For some of them who used to
pass the result of acpi_get_child() directly to ACPI_HANDLE_SET()
introduce a helper routine acpi_preset_companion() doing an
equivalent thing.
The main motivation for doing this is that there are things
represented by struct acpi_device objects that don't have valid
ACPI handles (so called fixed ACPI hardware features, such as
power and sleep buttons) and we would like to create platform
device objects for them and "glue" them to their ACPI companions
in the usual way (which currently is impossible due to the
lack of valid ACPI handles). However, there are more reasons
why it may be useful.
First, struct acpi_device pointers allow of much better type checking
than void pointers which are ACPI handles, so it should be more
difficult to write buggy code using modified struct acpi_dev_node
and the new macros. Second, the change should help to reduce (over
time) the number of places in which the result of ACPI_HANDLE() is
passed to acpi_bus_get_device() in order to obtain a pointer to the
struct acpi_device associated with the given "physical" device,
because now that pointer is returned by ACPI_COMPANION() directly.
Finally, the change should make it easier to write generic code that
will build both for CONFIG_ACPI set and unset without adding explicit
compiler directives to it.

Certain platforms do not allow writes in the MSI-X BARs to setup or tear
down vector values. To combat against the generic code trying to write to
that and either silently being ignored or crashing due to the pagetables
being marked R/O this patch introduces a platform override.
Note that we keep two separate, non-weak, functions default_mask_msi_irqs()
and default_mask_msix_irqs() for the behavior of the arch_mask_msi_irqs()
and arch_mask_msix_irqs(), as the default behavior is needed by x86 PCI
code.
For Xen, which does not allow the guest to write to MSI-X tables - as the
hypervisor is solely responsible for setting the vector values - we
implement two nops.
This fixes a Xen guest crash when passing a PCI device with MSI-X to the
guest. See the bugzilla for more details.

mrst is used as common name to represent all intel_mid type
soc's. But moorsetwon is just one of the intel_mid soc. So
renamed them to use intel_mid.
This patch mainly renames the variables and related
functions that uses *mrst* prefix with *intel_mid*.
To ensure that there are no functional changes, I have compared
the objdump of related files before and after rename and found
the only difference is symbol and name changes.

Following files contains code that is common to all intel mid
soc's. So renamed them as below.
mrst/mrst.c -> intel-mid/intel-mid.c
mrst/vrtc.c -> intel-mid/intel_mid_vrtc.c
mrst/early_printk_mrst.c -> intel-mid/intel_mid_vrtc.c
pci/mrst.c -> pci/intel_mid_pci.c
Also, renamed the corresponding header files and made changes
to the driver files that included these header files.
To ensure that there are no functional changes, I have compared
the objdump of renamed files before and after rename and found
that the only difference is file name change.

Previously we coalesced windows by expanding the first overlapping one and
making the second invalid. But we never look at the expanded first window
again, so we fail to notice other windows that overlap it. For example, we
coalesced these:

[io 0x03e0-0x0cf7] // #1
[io 0x0000-0xdfff] // #2
into these, which still overlap:
[io 0x0000-0xdfff] // #0
[io 0x03e0-0x0cf7] // #1
The fix is to expand the *second* overlapping resource and ignore the
first, so we get this instead with no overlaps:

The PCI core caches the PCIe Capability offset in pci_dev->pcie_cap, so
use that instead of pci_find_capability(). Use pci_bus_set_ops() when
replacing the device pci_ops. And use #defines instead of numeric
constants.

Based on a patch by Jon Mason (see URL below).
All users of pcie_bus_configure_settings() pass arguments of the form
"bus, bus->self->pcie_mpss". The "mpss" argument is redundant since we
can easily look it up internally. In addition, all callers check
"bus->self" for NULL, which we can also do internally.
This patch simplifies the interface and the callers. No functional change.

In hotplug case (especially with Thunderbolt enabled systems) we might need
to call pcibios_resource_survey_bus() several times for a bus. The function
ends up calling pci_claim_resource() for each bridge resource that then
fails claiming that the resource exists already (which it does). Once this
happens the resource is invalidated thus preventing devices behind the
bridge to allocate their resources.
To fix this we do what has been done in pcibios_allocate_dev_resources()
and check 'parent' of the given resource. If it is non-NULL it means that
the resource has been allocated already and we can skip it. We do the same
for ROM resources as well.

The __cpuinit type of throwaway sections might have made sense
some time ago when RAM was more constrained, but now the savings
do not offset the cost and complications. For example, the fix in
commit 5e427ec2d0 ("x86: Fix bit corruption at CPU resume time")
is a good example of the nasty type of bugs that can be created
with improper use of the various __init prefixes.
After a discussion on LKML[1] it was decided that cpuinit should go
the way of devinit and be phased out. Once all the users are gone,
we can then finally remove the macros themselves from linux/init.h.
Note that some harmless section mismatch warnings may result, since
notify_cpu_starting() and cpu_up() are arch independent (kernel/cpu.c)
are flagged as __cpuinit -- so if we remove the __cpuinit from
arch specific callers, we will also get section mismatch warnings.
As an intermediate step, we intend to turn the linux/init.h cpuinit
content into no-ops as early as possible, since that will get rid
of these warnings. In any case, they are temporary and harmless.
This removes all the arch/x86 uses of the __cpuinit macros from
all C files. x86 only had the one __CPUINIT used in assembly files,
and it wasn't paired off with a .previous or a __FINIT, so we can
delete it directly w/o any corresponding additional change there.

f9a37be0f0 ("x86: Use PCI setup data") added support for using PCI ROM
images from setup_data. This used phys_to_virt(), which is not valid for
highmem addresses, and can cause a crash when booting a 32-bit kernel via
the EFI boot stub.
pcibios_add_device() assumes that the physical addresses stored in
setup_data are accessible via the direct kernel mapping, and that calling
phys_to_virt() is valid. This isn't guaranteed to be true on x86 where the
direct mapping range is much smaller than on x86-64.

For real PCI devices 00:00.0, 00:02.0 and 00:03.0, there is either no
PCI shim, or no guarantee of data correctness of offset 256-4k. So for
whatever reason, Linux kernel should not do MMCFG PCI config access to
those devices. Instead, always use configuration mechanism 1 for those
devices.
The 00:00.0, 00:02.0 and 00:03.0 devices are built-in single-function
devices and are not PCI-PCI bridges, so this set of devices should be
complete.

The ACPI handles of PCI root bridges need to be known to
acpi_bind_one(), so that it can create the appropriate
"firmware_node" and "physical_node" files for them, but currently
the way it gets to know those handles is not exactly straightforward
(to put it lightly).
This is how it works, roughly:
1. acpi_bus_scan() finds the handle of a PCI root bridge,
creates a struct acpi_device object for it and passes that
object to acpi_pci_root_add().
2. acpi_pci_root_add() creates a struct acpi_pci_root object,
populates its "device" field with its argument's address
(device->handle is the ACPI handle found in step 1).
3. The struct acpi_pci_root object created in step 2 is passed
to pci_acpi_scan_root() and used to get resources that are
passed to pci_create_root_bus().
4. pci_create_root_bus() creates a struct pci_host_bridge object
and passes its "dev" member to device_register().
5. platform_notify(), which for systems with ACPI is set to
acpi_platform_notify(), is called.
So far, so good. Now it starts to be "interesting".
6. acpi_find_bridge_device() is used to find the ACPI handle of
the given device (which is the PCI root bridge) and executes
acpi_pci_find_root_bridge(), among other things, for the
given device object.
7. acpi_pci_find_root_bridge() uses the name (sic!) of the given
device object to extract the segment and bus numbers of the PCI
root bridge and passes them to acpi_get_pci_rootbridge_handle().
8. acpi_get_pci_rootbridge_handle() browses the list of ACPI PCI
root bridges and finds the one that matches the given segment
and bus numbers. Its handle is then used to initialize the
ACPI handle of the PCI root bridge's device object by
acpi_bind_one(). However, this is *exactly* the ACPI handle we
started with in step 1.
Needless to say, this is quite embarassing, but it may be avoided
thanks to commit f3fd0c8 (ACPI: Allow ACPI handles of devices to be
initialized in advance), which makes it possible to initialize the
ACPI handle of a device before passing it to device_register().
Accordingly, add a new __weak routine, pcibios_root_bridge_prepare(),
defaulting to an empty implementation that can be replaced by the
interested architecutres (x86 and ia64 at the moment) with functions
that will set the root bridge's ACPI handle before its dev member is
passed to device_register(). Make both x86 and ia64 provide such
implementations of pcibios_root_bridge_prepare() and remove
acpi_pci_find_root_bridge() and acpi_get_pci_rootbridge_handle() that
aren't necessary any more.
Included is a fix for breakage on systems with non-ACPI PCI host
bridges from Bjorn Helgaas.

esp root-bus hot add is through acpi, BIOS has chance to set some registers
before handing over.

Previously pcibios_allocate_resources() allocated resources at boot-time
for all PCI devices using for_each_pci_dev(). This patch changes
pcibios_allocate_resources() so we can specify a bus, so we can do
similar allocation when hot-adding a root bus.

CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev*
markings need to be removed.
This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitconst,
and __devexit from these drivers.

Commit 284f5f9 was intended to disable the "only_one_child()" optimization
on Stratus ftServer systems, but its DMI check is wrong. It looks for
DMI_SYS_VENDOR that contains "ftServer", when it should look for
DMI_SYS_VENDOR containing "Stratus" and DMI_PRODUCT_NAME containing
"ftServer".
Tested on Stratus ftServer 6400.

The memory range descriptors in the _CRS control method contain an address
translation offset for host bridges. This value is used to translate
addresses across the bridge. The support to use _TRA values is present for
other architectures but not for X86 platforms.
For existing X86 platforms the _TRA value is zero. Non-zero _TRA values
are expected on future X86 platforms. This change will register that value
with the resource.

The xw9300 BIOS supplies _SEG methods that are incorrect, which results
in some LSI SCSI devices not being discovered. This adds a quirk to
ignore _SEG on this machine and default to zero.
The xw9300 has three host bridges:
ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (domain 0000 [bus 00-3f])
ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI1] (domain 0001 [bus 40-7f])
ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI2] (domain 0002 [bus 80-ff])
When the BIOS "ACPI Bus Segmentation" option is enabled (as it is by
default), the _SEG methods of the PCI1 and PCI2 bridges return 1 and 2,
respectively. However, the BIOS implementation appears to be incomplete,
and we can't enumerate devices in those domains.
But if we assume PCI1 and PCI2 really lead to buses in domain 0,
everything works fine. Windows XP and Vista also seem to ignore
these _SEG methods.

Some CE4100 devices such as the:
- DFX module (01:0b.7)
- entertainment encryption device (01:10.0)
- multimedia controller (01:12.0)
do not have a device interrupt at all.
This patch fixes the PCI controller code to declare the missing
PCI configuration register space, as well as a fixup method for
forcing the interrupt pin to be 0 for these devices. This is
required to ensure that pci drivers matching on these devices
will be able to honor the various PCI subsystem calls touching
the configuration space.

implementation in the core and make it a weak symbol so that it can be

Remove the __init annotations in order to keep pci_fixup_irqs() around
after init (e.g. for hotplug). This requires the same change for the
implementation of pcibios_update_irq() on all architectures. While at
it, all __devinit annotations are removed as well, since they will be
useless now that HOTPLUG is always on.

PV on HVM guests map GSIs into event channels. At restore time the
event channels are resumed by restore_pirqs.
Device drivers might try to register the same GSI again through ACPI at
restore time, but the GSI has already been mapped and bound by
restore_pirqs. This patch detects these situations and avoids
mapping the same GSI multiple times.
Without this patch we get:

Despite lots of investigation into why this is needed we don't
know or have an elegant cure. The only answer found on this
laptop is to mark a problem region as used so that Linux doesn't
put anything there.
Currently all the users add reserve= command lines and anyone
not knowing this needs to find the magic page that documents it.
Automate it instead.

Since Matthew's efi/vga changes on non-EFI machines we were failing
to tell the vgaarb/switcheroo what the default device was, this
sets the default device in the quirk if none has been set before.
This fixes the switcheroo on my T410s.

spin_is_locked() is always false on UP kernels: spin_lock_irqsave() does no
locking, so we can't tell whether the lock is held or not. Therefore,
this warning is only valid for SMP kernels.

A PCIe downstream port is a P2P bridge. Its secondary interface is
a link that should lead only to device 0 (unless ARI is enabled)[1], so
we don't probe for non-zero device numbers.
Some Stratus ftServer systems have a PCIe downstream port (02:00.0) that
leads to both an upstream port (03:00.0) and a downstream port (03:01.0),
and 03:01.0 has important devices below it:

Previously, we didn't enumerate device 03:01.0, so USB and the network
didn't work. This patch adds a DMI quirk to scan all device numbers,

In pci_scan_acpi_root(), when pci_use_crs is set, get_current_resources()
is used to get pci_root_info, and it will allocate name and resource array.
Later if pci_create_root_bus() can not create bus (could be already
there...) it will only free bus res list, but the name and res array is not
freed.
Let get_current_resource() take info pointer instead of using local info.

The "ConneXt" sta2x11 I/O Hub is a bridge from PCIe to AMBA, and is
used as main chipset in some Atom boards. The set of peripherals it
exports live in an AMBA bus internal to the chip, so a custom
remapping of addresses is needed. This is implemented by fixup calls
for the PCI deivices, based on CONFIG_X86_DEV_DMA_OPS and
CONFIG_X86_DMA_REMAP .

Carlos was getting
WARNING: at drivers/pci/pci.c:118 pci_ioremap_bar+0x24/0x52()
when probing his sound card, and sound did not work. After adding
pci=use_crs to the kernel command line, no more trouble.
Ok, we can add a quirk. dmidecode output reveals that this is an MSI
MS-7253, for which we already have a quirk, but the short-sighted
author tied the quirk to a single BIOS version, making it not kick in
on Carlos's machine with BIOS V1.2. If a later BIOS update makes it
no longer necessary to look at the _CRS info it will still be
harmless, so let's stop trying to guess which versions have and don't
have accurate _CRS tables.

In the spirit of commit 29cf7a30f8 ("x86/PCI: use host bridge _CRS
info on ASUS M2V-MX SE"), this DMI quirk turns on "pci_use_crs" by
default on a board that needs it.
This fixes boot failures and oopses introduced in 3e3da00c01
("x86/pci: AMD one chain system to use pci read out res"). The quirk
is quite targetted (to a specific board and BIOS version) for two
reasons:
(1) to emphasize that this method of tackling the problem one quirk
at a time is a little insane
(2) to give BIOS vendors an opportunity to use simpler tables and
allow us to return to generic behavior (whatever that happens to
be) with a later BIOS update
In other words, I am not at all happy with having quirks like this.
But it is even worse for the kernel not to work out of the box on
these machines, so...

ATOMISP on Medfield is a real PCI device which should be handled differently
than the fake PCI devices on south complex. PCI type 1 access is used for
accessing config space this also has other impact such as PM D3 delay. There
shouldn't be any need for reading base address from IUNIT via msg bus.

Langwell devices are not true pci devices, they are not subject to the 10 ms
d3 to d0 delay required by pci spec. This patch assigns d3_delay to 0 for all
langwell pci devices.

Commit 58c84eda07 introduced functionality to try and reinstate the
original BIOS BAR addresses of a PCI device when normal resource
assignment attempts fail. To keep track of the BIOS BAR addresses,
struct pci_dev was augmented with an array to hold the BAR addresses
of the PCI device: 'resource_size_t fw_addr[DEVICE_COUNT_RESOURCE]'.
The reinstatement of BAR addresses is an uncommon event leaving the
'fw_addr' array unused under normal circumstances. This functionality
is also currently architecture specific with an implementation limited
to x86. As the use of struct pci_dev is so prevalent, having the
'fw_addr' array residing within such seems somewhat wasteful.
This patch introduces a stand alone data structure and interfacing
routines for maintaining a list of FW-assigned BIOS BAR value entries.

Fix up conflicts in drivers/pci/msi.c and include/linux/pci_regs.h due
to the same patches being applied in other branches.
This factors out the AMD native MMCONFIG discovery so we can use it
outside amd_bus.c.
amd_bus.c reads AMD MSRs so it can remove the MMCONFIG area from the
PCI resources. We may also need the MMCONFIG information to work
around BIOS defects in the ACPI MCFG table.

x86 has two kinds of PCI root bus scanning:
(1) ACPI-based, using _CRS resources. This used pci_create_bus(), not
pci_scan_bus(), because ACPI hotplug needed to split the
pci_bus_add_devices() into a separate host bridge .start() method.
This patch parses the _CRS resources earlier, so we can build a list of
resources and pass it to pci_create_root_bus().
Note that as before, we parse the _CRS even if we aren't going to use
it so we can print it for debugging purposes.
(2) All other, which used either default resources (ioport_resource and
iomem_resource) or information read from the hardware via amd_bus.c or
similar. This used pci_scan_bus().
This patch converts x86_pci_root_bus_res_quirks() (previously called
from pcibios_fixup_bus()) to x86_pci_root_bus_resources(), which builds
a list of resources before we call pci_scan_root_bus().
We also use x86_pci_root_bus_resources() if we have ACPI but are
ignoring _CRS.

We currently read the CNB20LE aperture information in a PCI quirk,
which happens after we've already created the root bus. This patch
changes it to read the apertures earlier so we can create the root
bus with the correct resources.

Commit 24d9b70b8c (x86: Use PCI method
for enabling AMD extended config space before MSR method) added a
message when IO access to PCI ECS was enabled via access to the NB_CFG
PCI register. This can lead to a bogus message like
[ 0.365177] Extended Config Space enabled on 0 nodes
which is misleading because IO ECS access is subsequently enabled for
AMD CPUs (that support this) by modifying the corresponding NB_CFG
MSR.
Furthermore it's not "Extended Config Space" that is enabled by this
register setting. It's the IO access that is enabled for extended
configruation space.
IMHO the ambiguous message needs to be cancelled.

The 'latency timer' of PCI devices, both Type 0 and Type 1,
is setup in architecture-specific code [see: 'pcibios_set_master()'].
There are two approaches being taken by all the architectures - check
if the 'latency timer' is currently set between 16 and 255 and if not
bring it within bounds, or, do nothing (and then there is the
gratuitously different PA-RISC implementation).
There is nothing architecture-specific about PCI's 'latency timer' so
this patch pulls its setup functionality up into the PCI core by
creating a generic 'pcibios_set_master()' function using the '__weak'
attribute which can be used by all architectures as a default which,
if necessary, can then be over-ridden by architecture-specific code.
No functional change.

This assures that a _CRS reserved host bridge window or window region is
not used if it is not addressable by the CPU. The new code either trims
the window to exclude the non-addressable portion or totally ignores the
window if the entire window is non-addressable.
The current code has been shown to be problematic with 32-bit non-PAE
kernels on systems where _CRS reserves resources above 4GB.

There are three different modes: PV, HVM, and initial domain 0. In all
the cases we would return -1 for failure instead of a proper error code.
Fix this by propagating the error code from the generic IRQ code.

As with any other such change, the goal is to prevent inadvertent
writes to these structures (assuming DEBUG_RODATA is enabled), and to
separate data (possibly frequently) written to from such never getting
modified.

In summary, this DMI quirk uses the _CRS info by default for the ASUS
M2V-MX SE by turning on `pci=use_crs` and is similar to the quirk
added by commit 2491762cfb ("x86/PCI: use host bridge _CRS info on
ASRock ALiveSATA2-GLAN") whose commit message should be read for further

Trusting the ACPI _CRS information (`pci=use_crs`) fixes this problem.

This quirk should be removed when `pci=use_crs` is enabled for machines
from 2006 or earlier or some other solution is implemented.
Using coreboot [1] with this board the problem does not exist but this
quirk also does not affect it either. To be safe though the check is
tightened to only take effect when the BIOS from American Megatrends is
used.

Now that the hypercall interface changes are in -unstable, make the
kernel side code not ignore the segment (aka domain) number anymore
(which results in pretty odd behavior on such systems). Rather, if
only the old interfaces are available, don't call them for devices on
non-zero segments at all.

Commit b03e7495a8 ("PCI: Set PCI-E Max Payload Size on fabric")
introduced a potential NULL pointer dereference in calls to
pcie_bus_configure_settings due to attempts to access pci_bus self
variables when the self pointer is NULL.
To correct this, verify that the self pointer in pci_bus is non-NULL
before dereferencing it.

On a given PCI-E fabric, each device, bridge, and root port can have a
different PCI-E maximum payload size. There is a sizable performance
boost for having the largest possible maximum payload size on each PCI-E
device. However, if improperly configured, fatal bus errors can occur.
Thus, it is important to ensure that PCI-E payloads sends by a device
are never larger than the MPS setting of all devices on the way to the
destination.
This can be achieved two ways:
- A conservative approach is to use the smallest common denominator of
the entire tree below a root complex for every device on that fabric.
This means for example that having a 128 bytes MPS USB controller on one
leg of a switch will dramatically reduce performances of a video card or
10GE adapter on another leg of that same switch.
It also means that any hierarchy supporting hotplug slots (including
expresscard or thunderbolt I suppose, dbl check that) will have to be
entirely clamped to 128 bytes since we cannot predict what will be
plugged into those slots, and we cannot change the MPS on a "live"
system.
- A more optimal way is possible, if it falls within a couple of
constraints:
* The top-level host bridge will never generate packets larger than the
smallest TLP (or if it can be controlled independently from its MPS at
least)
* The device will never generate packets larger than MPS (which can be
configured via MRRS)
* No support of direct PCI-E <-> PCI-E transfers between devices without
some additional code to specifically deal with that case
Then we can use an approach that basically ignores downstream requests
and focuses exclusively on upstream requests. In that case, all we need
to care about is that a device MPS is no larger than its parent MPS,
which allows us to keep all switches/bridges to the max MPS supported by
their parent and eventually the PHB.
In this case, your USB controller would no longer "starve" your 10GE
Ethernet and your hotplug slots won't affect your global MPS.
Additionally, the hotplugged devices themselves can be configured to a
larger MPS up to the value configured in the hotplug bridge.
To choose between the two available options, two PCI kernel boot args
have been added to the PCI calls. "pcie_bus_safe" will provide the
former behavior, while "pcie_bus_perf" will perform the latter behavior.
By default, the latter behavior is used.
NOTE: due to the location of the enablement, each arch will need to add
calls to this function. This patch only enables x86.
This patch includes a number of changes recommended by Benjamin
Herrenschmidt.

Commit 6e8af08dfa enables pci=bfsort on
future Dell systems. But the identification string 'Dell System' matches
on already existing whitelist, which do not have SMBIOS type 0xB1,
causing pci=bfsort not being set on existing whitelist.
This patch fixes the regression by moving the type 0xB1 check beyond the
existing whitelist so that existing whitelist is walked before.

Aside of the usual motivation for constification, this function has a
history of being abused a hook for interrupt and other fixups so I turned
this function const ages ago in the MIPS code but it should be done
treewide.
Due to function pointer passing in varous places a few other functions
had to be constified as well.

Without this change, the majority of the raw PCI config space access
functions silently ignore a non-zero segment argument, which is
certainly wrong.
Apart from pci_direct_conf1, all other non-MMCFG access methods get
used only for non-extended accesses (i.e. assigned to raw_pci_ops
only). Consequently, with the way raw_pci_{read,write}() work, it would
be a coding error to call these functions with a non-zero segment (with
the current call flow this cannot happen afaict).
The access method 1 accessor, as it can be used for extended accesses
(on AMD systems) instead gets checks added for the passed in segment to
be zero. This would be the case when on such a system having multiple
PCI segments (don't know whether any exist in practice) MMCFG for some
reason is not usable, and method 1 gets selected for doing extended
accesses. Rather than accessing the wrong device's config space, the
function will now error out.

Host bridge windows are top-level resources, so if we find a host bridge
window conflict, it's probably with a hard-coded legacy reservation.
Moving host bridge windows is theoretically possible, but we don't support
it; we just ignore windows with conflicts, and it's not worth making this
a user-visible error.

In the past we would only use the function's value if the
returned value was not equal to 'acpi_sci_override_gsi'. Meaning
that the INT_SRV_OVR values for global and source irq were different.
But it is OK to use the function's value even when the global
and source irq are the same.

In the past (2.6.38) the 'xen_allocate_pirq_gsi' would allocate
an entry in a Linux IRQ -> {XEN_IRQ, type, event, ..} array. All
of that has been removed in 2.6.39 and the Xen IRQ subsystem uses
an linked list that is populated when the call to
'xen_allocate_irq_gsi' (universally done from any of the xen_bind_*
calls) is done. The 'xen_allocate_pirq_gsi' is a NOP and there is
no need for it anymore so lets remove it.

.. which means we can preset of NR_IRQS_LEGACY interrupts using
the 'acpi_get_override_irq' API before this loop.
This means that we can get the IRQ's polarity (and trigger) from either
the ACPI (or MP); or use the default values. This fixes a bug if we did
not have an IOAPIC we would not been able to preset the IRQ's polarity
if the MP table existed.

In the past we would guard those code segments to be dependent
on CONFIG_XEN_DOM0 (which depends on CONFIG_ACPI) so this patch is
not stricly necessary. But the next patch will merge common
HVM and initial domain code and we want to make sure the CONFIG_ACPI
dependency is preserved - as HVM code does not depend on CONFIG_XEN_DOM0.

Previously we would check for acpi_sci_override_gsi == gsi every time
a PCI device was enabled. That works during early bootup, but later
on it could lead to triggering unnecessarily the acpi_gsi_to_irq(..) lookup.
The reason is that acpi_sci_override_gsi was declared in __initdata and
after early bootup could contain bogus values.
This patch moves the check for acpi_sci_override_gsi to the
site where the ACPI SCI is preset.

IRQ which worked great as GSI == IRQ:

which means that GSI 20 (or pin 20) is to be overriden for IRQ 9.
Our code that presets the interrupt for ACPI SCI however would
use the GSI 20 instead of IRQ 9 ending up with:

as the ACPI interpreter made a call to 'acpi_gsi_to_irq' which got nine.
It used that value to request an IRQ (request_irq) and since that was not
present it failed.
The fix is to recognize that for interrupts that are overriden (in our
case we only care about the ACPI SCI) we should use the IRQ number
to present the IRQ instead of the using GSI. End result is that we get:

The flags field of struct resource from linux/ioport.h is "unsigned
long". Change the "type" parameter of coalesce_windows() function to
match that field. This fixes the following warning messages when
compiling with "make C=1 W=1 bzImage modules":

moved the intel SMBUS ID definitons to the i2c-i801.c driver.
On various newer Intel systems the PCI bus(ses) the non-core devices
live on aren't getting announced by ACPI except through the bus range
covered by mmconfig. At least the i7core-edac driver depends on these
devices getting detected.
Mauro, could you check whether with this change the Xeon 55xx hack in
that driver can go away altogether, and with it the bogus exporting of
pcibios_scan_specific_bus()?

If we have CONFIG_XEN and the other parameters to build an
Linux kernel that is non-privileged, the xen_[find|register|unregister]_
device_domain_owner functions should not be compiled. They should
use the nops defined in arch/x86/include/asm/xen/pci.h instead.

Request_region should be used with release_region, not release_resource.
The local variables region and region2 are dropped and the calls to
release_resource are replaced with calls to release_region, using the first
two arguments of the corresponding calls to request_region.

We check if there is a domain owner for the PCI device. In case of failure
(meaning no domain has registered for this device) we make DOMID_SELF the owner.

When the Xen PCI backend is told to enable or disable MSI/MSI-X functions,
the initial domain performs these operations. The initial domain needs
to know which domain (guest) is going to use the PCI device so when it
makes the appropiate hypercall to retrieve the MSI/MSI-X vector it will
also assign the PCI device to the appropiate domain (guest).
This boils down to us needing a mechanism to find, set and unset the domain
id that will be using the device.

Setting the pci ops on subsys initcall unconditionally will break
multi platform kernels on anything except ce4100.
Use x86_init.pci.init ops to call this only on real ce4100 platforms.

Following the example set by xen_allocate_pirq_msi and
xen_bind_pirq_msi_to_irq:
xen_allocate_pirq becomes xen_allocate_pirq_gsi and now only allocates
a pirq number and does not bind it.
xen_map_pirq_gsi becomes xen_bind_pirq_gsi_to_irq and binds an
existing pirq.

Hoist domain 0 specific functionality up into the only caller leaving

Split the binding aspect of xen_allocate_pirq_msi out into a new
xen_bind_pirq_to_irq function.
In xen_hvm_setup_msi_irq when allocating a pirq write the MSI message
to signal the PIRQ as soon as the pirq is obtained. There is no way to
free the pirq back so if the subsequent binding to an IRQ fails we
want to ensure that we will reuse the PIRQ next time rather than leak
it.

This happens to not be an issue currently because we take pains to try
to ensure that the GSI-IRQ mapping is 1-1 in a PV guest and that
regular event channels do not clash. However a subsequent patch is
going to break this 1-1 mapping.

This code path is only run when an MSI/MSI-X PCI device is passed
in to PV DomU.
In 2.6.37 time-frame we over-wrote the default cleanup handler for
MSI/MSI-X irq->desc to be "xen_teardown_msi_irqs". That function
calls the the xen-pcifront driver which can tell the backend to
cleanup/take back the MSI/MSI-X device.
However, we forgot to continue the process of free-ing the MSI/MSI-X
device resources (irq->desc) in the PV domU side. Which is what
the default cleanup handler: default_teardown_msi_irqs did.
Hence we would leak IRQ descriptors.
Without this patch, doing "rmmod igbvf;modprobe igbvf" multiple
times ends with abandoned IRQ descriptors:

130: 10 xen-pirq-pcifront-msi-x
with the end result of running out of IRQ descriptors.

xen_allocate_pirq -> xen_map_pirq_gsi -> PHYSDEVOP_alloc_irq_vector IFF
xen_initial_domain() in addition to the kernel side book-keeping side of
things (set chip and handler, update irq_info etc) whereas
xen_allocate_pirq_msi just does the kernel book keeping.
Also xen_allocate_pirq allocates an IRQ in the 1-1 GSI space whereas
xen_allocate_pirq_msi allocates a dynamic one in the >GSI IRQ space.
All of this is uneccessary as this code path is only executed
when we run as a domU PV guest with an MSI/MSI-X PCI card passed in.
Hence we can jump straight to allocating an dynamic IRQ (and
binding it to the proper PIRQ) and skip the rest.
In short: this change is a cosmetic one.
