The MDSS device is created before the MSM driver attempts to bind the
sub components. If any of the components return -EPROBE_DEFER the MDSS
device is destroyed and tried again later.
If this happens the dpu_mdss_isr interrupt created from the DPU MDSS
is not freed when the MDSS device is destroyed and has a risk of
triggering later and hitting a fault by accessing a mmio region that
no longer exists. Even if the interrupt isn't triggered by
accident when the device attempts to reprobe it would error out
when it tries to re-register the interrupt so unconditionally removing
it in the destroy is the right move.
Switch the device managed dpu_mdss_isr to be unmanaged and add a
free_irq() in the mdss destroy function.

The atomic_check is a bit too aggressive with respect to planes which
leave the active area. This caused a bunch of log spew when the cursor
got to the edge of the screen and stopped it from going all the way.
This patch removes the conservative bounds checks from atomic and clips
the dst rect such that we properly display planes which go off the
screen.
Changes in v2:
- Apply the clip to src as well (taking into account scaling)
Changes in v3:
- Use drm_atomic_helper_check_plane_state() to clip src/dst

Looking at the code I see that drm_encoder_init() is called from the DPU
code with 'DRM_MODE_CONNECTOR_DSI' passed in as the 'encoder_type'
argument (follow from _dpu_kms_initialize_dsi()). That corresponds to
the integer 16. That is then indexed into drm_encoder_enum_list in
drm_encoder_init() to look up the name of the encoder. If you're still
following along, that's an encoder not a connector! We really want to
use DRM_MODE_ENCODER_DSI (integer 6) instead of DRM_MODE_CONNECTOR_DSI
here, or we'll go out of bounds of the encoder array. Pass the right
thing and everything is fine.

Failure to load firmware is the primary reason to fail adreno_load_gpu().
Try to load it first before going into the hardware initialization code and
unwinding it. This is important for a6xx because the GMU gets loaded from
the runtime power code and it is more costly to fail in that path because
of missing firmware.

SDM845 SoC includes the Mobile Display Sub System (MDSS) which is a
top level wrapper consisting of Display Processing Unit (DPU) and
display peripheral modules such as Display Serial Interface (DSI)
and DisplayPort (DP).
MDSS functions essentially as a back-end composition engine. It blends
video and graphic images stored in the frame buffers and scans out the
composed image to a display sink (over DSI/DP).
The following diagram represents hardware blocks for a simple pipeline
(two planes are present on a given crtc which is connected to a DSI
connector):

The number of DPU sub-blocks (i.e. SSPPs, LMs, PP blocks and INTFs)
depends on SoC capabilities.
Overview of DPU sub-blocks:
---------------------------
* Source Surface Processor (SSPP):
Refers to any of hardware pipes like ViG, DMA etc. Only ViG pipes are
capable of performing format conversion, scaling and quality improvement
for source surfaces.
* Layer Mixer (LM):
Blend source surfaces together (in requested zorder)
* PingPong (PP):
This block controls frame done interrupt output, EOL and EOF generation,
overflow/underflow control.
* Display interface (INTF):
Timing generator and interface connecting the display peripherals.
DRM components mapping to DPU architecture:
------------------------------------------
PLANEs maps to SSPPs
CRTC maps to LMs
Encoder maps to PPs, INTFs
Data flow setup:
---------------
MDSS hardware can support various data flows (e.g.):
- Dual pipe: Output from two LMs combined to single display.
- Split display: Output from two LMs connected to two separate
interfaces.
The hardware capabilities determine the number of concurrent data paths
possible. Any control path (i.e. pipeline w/i DPU) can be routed to any
of the hardware data paths. A given control path can be triggered,
flushed and controlled independently.
Changes in v3:
- Move msm_media_info.h from uapi to dpu/ subdir
- Remove preclose callback dpu (it's handled in core)
- Fix kbuild warnings with parent_ops
- Remove unused functions from dpu_core_irq
- Rename mdss_phys to mdss
- Rename mdp_phys address space to mdp
- Drop _phys from vbif and regdma binding names

f9cb8d8d83 fixed various race conditions with CTL flush, in particular
flushing and sending the START signal before encoder state was updated.
But it did this a little too well in some cases that don't trigger
encoder->enable(), and CTL[n].FLUSH would never be set. When page flips
happen it would paper over the bug, since the first plag flip would
flush out the state to the hardware.

Right now, the DRM panel logic returns NULL when a panel pointing to
the passed OF node is not present in the list of registered panels.
Most drivers interpret this NULL value as -EPROBE_DEFER, but we are
about to modify the semantic of of_drm_find_panel() and let the
framework return -ENODEV when the device node we're pointing to has
a status property that is not equal to "okay" or "ok".
Let's first patch the of_drm_find_panel() implementation to return
ERR_PTR(-EPROBE_DEFER) instead of NULL and patch all callers to replace
the '!panel' check by an 'IS_ERR(panel)' one.

This replaces the usage of the subclassed atomic state (mdp5_state)
with a private_obj state embedded within drm_atomic_state. The latter
method is the preferred approach, since it's simpler to implement
and less prone to errors.
The new API replaces the older and equivalent mdp5_state usage in the
following pattern:
- References to "mdp5_kms->state" (i.e, the old/existing state) is
replaced with mdp5_get_existing_global_state(). In the atomic_check
path, this should be called with the glob_state_lock drm_modeset_lock
alredy taken.
- References to "mdp5_get_state()" are replaced with
mdp5_get_global_state(). This acquires glob_state_lock and uses
drm_atomic_get_private_obj_state() to create a new duplicated state.

Global shared resources (hwpipes, hwmixers and SMP) for MDP5 are
implemented as a part of atomic state by subclassing drm_atomic_state.
The preferred approach is to use the drm_private_obj infrastructure
available in the atomic core.
mdp5_global_state is introduced as a drm atomic private object. The two
funcs mdp5_get_global_state() and mdp5_get_existing_global_state() are
the two variants that will be used to access mdp5_global_state.
This will replace the existing mdp5_state struct (which subclasses
drm_atomic_state) and the funcs around it. These will be removed later
once we mdp5_global_state is put to use everywhere.

Commit 62e3a3e342 changed get_pages() to initialise
msm_gem_object::pages before trying to initialise msm_gem_object::sgt,
so that put_pages() would properly clean up pages in the failure
case.
However, this means that put_pages() now needs to check that
msm_gem_object::sgt is not null before trying to clean it up, and
this check was only applied to part of the cleanup code. Move
it all into the conditional block. (Strictly speaking we don't
need to make the kfree() conditional, but since we can't avoid
checking for null ourselves we may as well do so.)

For DSI cmd-mode and writeback, we need to write the CTL's START
register to kick things off, but we only want to do that once both
the encoder and the crtc have a chance to write their corresponding
flush bits. The difficulty is that when there is a full modeset
(ie. encoder state has changed) we want to defer the start until
encoder->enable(). But if only plane's have changed, we want to do
this from crtc->commit().
The start_mask was a previous attempt to handle this, but it didn't
really do the right thing since atomic conversion.
Instead track in the crtc state that the start should be deferred,
set to try from encoder's (or in future writeback's) atomic_check().
This way the state is part of the atomic state, and rollback can
work properly if an atomic test fails.

Interrupt commands causes the CP to trigger an interrupt as the command
is processed, regardless of the GPU being done processing previous
commands. This is seen by the interrupt being delivered before the
fence is written on 8974 and is likely the cause of the additional
CP_WAIT_FOR_IDLE workaround found for a306, which would cause the CP to
wait for the GPU to go idle before triggering the interrupt.
Instead we can set the (undocumented) BIT(31) of the CACHE_FLUSH_TS
which will cause a special CACHE_FLUSH_TS interrupt to be triggered from
the GPU as the write event is processed.
Add CACHE_FLUSH_TS to the IRQ masks of A3xx and A4xx and remove the
workaround for A306.

Newer DSI host controllers (SDM845 in particular) require a new clock
called byte_intf_clk. A recent patch tried to add this as an optional
clock, but it still set 'ret' to an error number if it didn't find it.
This breaks the host's probe for all previous DSI host versions.
Instead of setting this up as an optional clock, try to get the clock
only for the DSI version that supports it.

drm_mm_init() takes the start and length of the intended virtual
memory address region but the msm code is passing the end of
the region instead. That would work out if the region started
at 0 but it doesn't so the top of the region sneaks above the

DSI6G v2.0+ blocks have a new clock input to them called
byte_intf_clk. It's rate is to be set as byte_clk / 2.
Within the clock controller (CC) subsystem, this clock is a
child/descendant of the byte_clk.
Set it up as an optional clock in the DSI host driver. Make sure
that we enable/set its rate only after we configure byte_clk.
This is required for the ancestor clocks in the CC to be

Populate the PHY ops with the downstream driver as reference.
There are a couple of TODOs which need to be resolved:
- The PHY timings are all hardcoded for now. This needs to be replaced
with automatic calculations once we get/understand them.
- There are some lane configuration registers which use a new
representation between physical and logical lane mappings. For now,
we've hardcoced them to follow the default mapping (i.e
logical 0 -> phy 0, logical 1 -> phy 1 etc).

Populate PLL clock ops from downstream. This contains the VCO PLL
ops and the registration of standard clk_divider and clk_mux clocks.
Unlike 14nm PLL, the postdividers/mux of the slave PLL doesn't need
to be set to the same values of the postdivs/mux of the master PLL.
Hence, we don't need special postdivider clock ops like we did with
the 14nm PLL driver.
Like the previous PLL drivers, the implementation is slightly different
from downstream. We don't use shadow clocks, but have the ability to
reparent the RCGs to a different source.

Merge tag 'drm-for-v4.16' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linux
Pull drm updates from Dave Airlie:
"This seems to have been a comparatively quieter merge window, I assume
due to holidays etc. The "biggest" change is AMD header cleanups, which
merge/remove a bunch of them. The AMD gpu scheduler is now being made generic
with the etnaviv driver wanting to reuse the code, hopefully other drivers
can go in the same direction.
Otherwise it's the usual lots of stuff in i915/amdgpu, not so much stuff
elsewhere.
Core:
- Add .last_close and .output_poll_changed helpers to reduce driver footprints
- Fix plane clipping
- Improved debug printing support
- Add panel orientation property
- Update edid derived properties at edid setting
- Reduction in fbdev driver footprint
- Move amdgpu scheduler into core for other drivers to use.

Use drm_mode_get_hv_timing() to fill out the plane clip rectangle.
Note that this replaces crtc_state->adjusted_mode usage with
crtc_state->mode. The latter is the correct choice since that's the
mode the user provided and it matches the plane crtc coordinates
the user also provided.
Once everyone agrees on this we can move the clip handling into
drm_atomic_helper_check_plane_state().

The msm/kms driver should work even if there is no GPU device specified
in DT. Currently, we get a NULL dereference crash in adreno_load_gpu
since the driver assumes that priv->gpu_pdev is non-NULL.
Perform an additional check on priv->gpu_pdev before trying to retrieve
the msm_gpu pointer from it.

- Use dev_err_once() to avoid an error message every time we open the

divider_recalc_rate() is an helper function used by clock divider of
different types, so the structure containing the 'hw' pointer is not
always a 'struct clk_divider'
At the following line:
> div = _get_div(table, val, flags, divider->width);
in several cases, the value of 'divider->width' is garbage as the actual
structure behind this memory is not a 'struct clk_divider'
Fortunately, this width value is used by _get_val() only when
CLK_DIVIDER_MAX_AT_ZERO flag is set. This has never been the case so
far when the structure is not a 'struct clk_divider'. This is probably
why we did not notice this bug before

drm_plane_helper_check_state() is supposed to do things the atomic way,
so it should not be inspecting crtc->enabled. Rather we should be
looking at crtc_state->enable.
We have a slight complication due to drm_plane_helper_check_update()
reusing drm_plane_helper_check_state() for non-atomic drivers. Thus
we'll have to pass the crtc_state in manally and construct a fake
crtc_state in drm_plane_helper_check_update().

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

When a plane moves out of bounds (i.e, outside the crtc clip region), the
plane state's "visible" parameter changes to false. When this happens, we
(a) release the hwpipe resources away from it, and
(b) unstage the corresponding hwpipe(s) from the Layer Mixers in the CRTC.
(a) requires use to acquire the global atomic state and assign a new
hwpipe. (b) requires us to re-configure the Layer Mixer, which is done in
the CRTC. We don't want to do these things in the async plane update path,
so return an error if the new state's "visible" isn't the same as the
current state's "visible".

MDP5 on newer SoCs support cursor planes (i.e, cursor SSPPs). They are a
separate entity unlike the cursors within LM.
Do not try to restore the MDP5 LM cursor registers, or the corresponding
CTL bits if we are not using LM cursors.
Also, since we've introduced a new variable 'lm_cursor_enabled', we can
now use it to avoid creating a different sets of crtc_funcs for CRTCs
with LM cursors and CRTCs with cursor planes.

We currently call mdp5_pipe_assign() twice to assign the left and right
hwpipes for our drm_plane. When merging 2 hwpipes, there are a few
constraints that we need to keep in mind:
- Only the same types of SSPPs are preferred. I.e, a RGB pipe should
be paired with another RGB pipe, VIG with VIG etc.
- The hwpipe staged on the left should have a higher priority than
the hwpipe staged on the right. The priorities are as follows:
VIG0 > VIG1 > VIG2 > VIG3
RGB0 > RGB1 > RGB2 > RGB3
DMA0 > DMA1
We can't apply these constraints easily if mdp5_pipe_assign() is
called twice. Update mdp5_pipe_assign() to find both hwpipes in
one go, and add the extra constraints needed.

We use a global ringbuffer size and block size for all targets and
at least for 5XX preemption we need to know the value the RB_CNTL
in several locations so it makes sense to calculate it once and use
it everywhere.
The only monkey wrench is that we need to disable the RPTR shadow
for A430 targets but that only needs to be done once and doesn't
affect A5XX so we can or in the value at init time.

Add a shadow pointer to track the current command being written into
the ring. Don't commit it as 'cur' until the command is submitted.
Because 'cur' is used to construct the software copy of the wptr this
ensures that somebody peeking in on the ring doesn't assume that a
command is inflight while it is being written. This isn't a huge deal
with a single ring (though technically the hangcheck could assume
the system is prematurely busy when it isn't) but it will be rather
important for preemption where the decision to preempt is based
on a non-empty ringbuffer. Without a shadow an aggressive preemption
scheme could assume that the ringbuffer is non empty and switch to it
before the CPU is done writing the command and boom.
Even though preemption won't be supported for all targets because of
the way the code is organized it is simpler to make this generic for
all targets. The extra load for non-preemption targets should be
minimal.

Add the infrastructure to support the idea of multiple ringbuffers.
Assign each ringbuffer an id and use that as an index for the various
ring specific operations.
The biggest delta is to support legacy fences. Each fence gets its own
sequence number but the legacy functions expect to use a unique integer.
To handle this we return a unique identifier for each submission but
map it to a specific ring/sequence under the covers. Newer users use
a dma_fence pointer anyway so they don't care about the actual sequence
ID or ring.
The actual mechanics for multiple ringbuffers are very target specific
so this code just allows for the possibility but still only defines
one ringbuffer for each target family.

When we move to multiple ringbuffers we're going to store the data
in the memptrs on a per-ring basis. In order to prepare for that
move the current memptrs from the adreno namespace into msm_gpu.
This is way cleaner and immediately lets us kill off some sub
functions so there is much less cost later when we do move to
per-ring structs.

Currently the behavior of a command stream is provided by the user
application during submission and the application is expected to internally
maintain the settings for each 'context' or 'rendering queue' and specify
the correct ones.
This works okay for simple cases but as applications become more
complex we will want to set context specific flags and do various
permission checks to allow certain contexts to enable additional
privileges.
Add kernel-side submit queues to be analogous to 'contexts' or
'rendering queues' on the application side. Each file descriptor
instance will maintain its own list of queues. Queues cannot be
shared between file descriptors.
For backwards compatibility context id '0' is defined as a default
context specifying no priority and no special flags. This is
intended to be the usual configuration for 99% of applications so
that a garden variety application can function correctly without
creating a queue. Only those applications requiring the specific
benefit of different queues need create one.

GFP_TEMPORARY was introduced by commit e12ba74d8f ("Group short-lived
and reclaimable kernel allocations") along with __GFP_RECLAIMABLE. It's
primary motivation was to allow users to tell that an allocation is
short lived and so the allocator can try to place such allocations close
together and prevent long term fragmentation. As much as this sounds
like a reasonable semantic it becomes much less clear when to use the
highlevel GFP_TEMPORARY allocation flag. How long is temporary? Can the
context holding that memory sleep? Can it take locks? It seems there is
no good answer for those questions.
The current implementation of GFP_TEMPORARY is basically GFP_KERNEL |
__GFP_RECLAIMABLE which in itself is tricky because basically none of
the existing caller provide a way to reclaim the allocated memory. So
this is rather misleading and hard to evaluate for any benefits.
I have checked some random users and none of them has added the flag
with a specific justification. I suspect most of them just copied from
other existing users and others just thought it might be a good idea to
use without any measuring. This suggests that GFP_TEMPORARY just
motivates for cargo cult usage without any reasoning.
I believe that our gfp flags are quite complex already and especially
those with highlevel semantic should be clearly defined to prevent from
confusion and abuse. Therefore I propose dropping GFP_TEMPORARY and
replace all existing users to simply use GFP_KERNEL. Please note that
SLAB users with shrinkers will still get __GFP_RECLAIMABLE heuristic and
so they will be placed properly for memory fragmentation prevention.
I can see reasons we might want some gfp flag to reflect shorterm
allocations but I propose starting from a clear semantic definition and
only then add users with proper justification.
This was been brought up before LSF this year by Matthew [1] and it
turned out that GFP_TEMPORARY really doesn't have a clear semantic. It
seems to be a heuristic without any measured advantage for most (if not
all) its current users. The follow up discussion has revealed that
opinions on what might be temporary allocation differ a lot between
developers. So rather than trying to tweak existing users into a
semantic which they haven't expected I propose to simply remove the flag
and start from scratch if we really need a semantic for short term
allocations.

Updates for 4.14.. I have some further patches from Jordan to add
multiple priority levels and pre-emption, but those will probably be
for 4.15 to give me time for the mesa parts.

Accessing registers for an unclocked block is an insta-reboot on
snapdragon devices. So add a bit of logic to track the enable_count so
we can WARN_ON() unclocked register writes. This makes it much easier
to track down mistakes.

Currently the GPU MMU is attached in the adreno_gpu code but as
more and more of the GPU initialization moves to the generic
GPU path we have a need to map and use GPU memory earlier and
earlier. There isn't any reason to defer attaching the MMU
until later so attach it right after the address space is
created so it can be used immediately.

There's a really nasty nouveau collision, hopefully someone can take a look
once I pushed this out.
It's dead code, the core handles all this directly now.
The only special case is nouveau and tda988x which used one function
for both legacy modeset code and -nv50 atomic world instead of 2
vtables. But amounts to exactly the same.

The A5XX GPU has really good hardware fault detection that can
detect a abnormal hardware condition and fire an interrupt in
a matter of milliseconds which is a lot better than waiting for
the hangcheck timer.

MDSS represents the top level wrapper that contains MDP5, DSI, HDMI and
other sub-blocks. W.r.t device heirarchy, it's the parent of all these
devices. The power domain of this device is actually tied to the GDSC
hw. When any sub-device enables its PD, MDSS's PD is also enabled.
The suspend/resume ops enable the top level clocks that end at the MDSS
boundary. For now, we're letting them all be optional, since the child
devices anyway hold a ref to these clocks.
Until now, we'd called a runtime_get() during probe, which ensured that
the GDSC was always on. Now that we've set up runtime PM for the children
devices, we can get rid of this hack.
Note: that the MDSS device is the platform_device in msm_drv.c. The
msm_runtime_suspend/resume ops call the funcs that enable/disable
the top level MDSS clocks. This is different from MDP4, where the
platform device created in msm_drv.c represents MDP4 itself. It would
have been nicer to hide these differences by adding new kms funcs, but
runtime PM needs to be enabled before kms is set up (i.e, msm_kms_init
is called).

Requests for assigning/freeing SMP blocks by planes are collected during
the atomic check phase, and represented by mdp5_smp_state's 'assigned'
and 'released' members.
Once the atomic state is committed, these members are reset to 0,
indicating that the existing configuration satisfies all the planes.
Future atomic commits will copy the old mdp5_smp_state, and the 'assigned'
and 'released' members would be updated only if there was a change in
the plane configurations.
When we disable and re-enable display, we lose the values we wrote to the
SMP registers, but the code doesn't program the registers because there
isn't any change in mdp5_smp_state.
Fix this by writing to the registers irrespective of whether there was
a change in SMP state or not. We do this by keeping a cache of the
register values, and write them every time we commit a state.

We shouldn't use use mode_set/mode_set_nofb helpers when we use runtime
PM. The registers configured in these funcs lose their state when we
eventually enable the display pipeline.
Do not implement these vfuncs in the helpers, and call them in the
crtc_enable/encoder_enable paths instead.

The bus clocks are always enabled/disabled along with the power
domain, so move it to the runtime suspend/resume ops. This cleans
up the clock code a bit. Get rid of the clk_mutex mutex since it

Call the pm_runtime_get/put API where we need the clocks enabled.
The main entry/exit points are 1) enabling/disabling the DSI bridge
and 2) Sending commands from the DSI host to the device.
