When the GenWQE hardware queue was busy, the driver returned simply
-EBUSY. This caused polling by applications which increased the load
on the already busy system. This change implements the possiblity to
sleep on a waitqueue instead when the DDCB queue is busy. The
requestor is woken up when there is free space on the queue again.
The old way to get -EBUSY is still available if the device is openend
with O_NONBLOCKING. The default is now blocking behavior.

The various devm_ functions allocate memory that is released when a
driver detaches. This patch uses these functions for data that is
allocated in the probe function of a platform device and is only freed
in the remove function. Also, the unnecessary labels are removed and
linux/device.h is added to make sure the devm_*() routine declarations
are unambiguously available.
The initial call to platform_get_resource is moved down to the
introduced call to devm_ioremap_resource that uses its result.

Moreover, resources retrieval are usually done in the probe function,
thus moving them add some consistency with other drivers.
Initialization is done once, ie not every time a tc block is requested.
If it fails, the device is not appended to the list of tc blocks.
Furhermore, the device id is retrieved at probe as well, avoiding parsing

A handful of driver-related changes. We've had a bunch of them going in through
other branches as well, so it's only a part of what we really have this release.
Larger pieces are:
* Removal of a now unused PWM driver for atmel
- This includes AVR32 changes that have been appropriately acked.
* Performance counter support for the arm CCN interconnect
* OMAP mailbox driver cleanups and consolidation
* PCI and SATA PHY drivers for SPEAr 13xx platforms
* Redefinition (with backwards compatibility!) of PCI DT bindings for Tegra to
better model regulators/power.

- Core timekeeping code is year-2038 safe now for 32bit machines.
Now we just need to fix all in kernel users and the gazillion of
user space interfaces which rely on timespec/timeval :)
- Better cache layout for the timekeeping internal data structures.
- Proper nanosecond based interfaces for in kernel users.
- Tree wide cleanup of code which wants nanoseconds but does hoops
and loops to convert back and forth from timespecs. Some of it
definitely belongs into the ugly code museum.
- Consolidation of the timekeeping interface zoo.
- A fast NMI safe accessor to clock monotonic for tracing. This is a
long standing request to support correlated user/kernel space
traces. With proper NTP frequency correction it's also suitable
for correlation of traces accross separate machines.
- Checkpoint/restart support for timerfd.
- A few NOHZ[_FULL] improvements in the [hr]timer code.
- Code move from kernel to kernel/time of all time* related code.
- New clocksource/event drivers from the ARM universe. I'm really
impressed that despite an architected timer in the newer chips SoC
manufacturers insist on inventing new and differently broken SoC

This branch moves code related to the Tegra fuses out of arch/arm and
into a centralized location which could be shared with ARM64. It also
adds support for reading the fuse data through sysfs.
Included is also some preparatory work that moves Tegra-related header
files from include/linux to include/soc/tegra as suggested by Arnd.
Furthermore the Tegra chip ID is now retrieved using a function rather
than a variable so that sanity checks can be done. This is convenient
in subsequent patches that will move some of the code that's currently
called from Tegra machine setup into regular initcalls so that it can
be reused on 64-bit ARM. The sanity checks help with verifying that no
code tries to obtain the Tegra chip ID before the underlying driver is
properly initialized.

Calling pm_schedule_suspend from the runtime pm idle callback
may reschedule existing timer, thus in case of frequent runtime
rpm idle call the suspend maybe starved.
Instead we call pm_runtime_autosuspend which is checking if the
timer is already charged.
An example is monitoring device pci config space.
Pci config sysfs handlers calls pci_config_pm_runtime_put/get
helpers which in turns calls to device idle callback

This MIC virtual bus driver takes the responsibility of creating all
the virtual devices connected to the PCIe device on the host and the
platform device on the card. The MIC bus hardware operations provide
a way to abstract certain hardware details from the base physical devices.
Examples of devices added on the MIC virtual bus include host DMA and card DMA.
This abstraction enables using a common DMA driver on host and card.

GenWQE used to call pci_enable_msi_block to allocate a desired number
of MSI's. If that was not possible pci_enable_msi_block returned with a
smaller number which might be possible to allocate. GenWQE then called
pci_enable_msi_block with that number.
Since commit a30d0108b
"GenWQE: Use pci_enable_msi_exact() instead of pci_enable_msi_block()"
pci_enable_msi_exact is used which fails if the desired number of MSI's
was not possible to allocate. Change GenWQE to use pci_enable_msi_range

Currently, in the event of a fatal hardware error, the driver tries a
recovery procedure that calls pci_reset_function() to reset the card.
This is not sufficient in some cases, needing a fundamental reset to
bring the card back.
This patch implements a call to the platform fundamental reset procedure
on the error recovery path if GENWQE_PLATFORM_ERROR_RECOVERY is enabled.
This is implemented by default only on PPC64, since this can cause
problems on other archs, e.g. zSeries, where the platform has its own
recovery procedures, leading to a potencial race conditition. For these
cases, the recovery is kept as it was before.

This patch implements the callbacks and functions necessary to have EEH
recovery support.
It adds a config option to enable or disable explicit calls to trigger
platform specific mechanisms on error recovery paths. This option is
enabled by default only on PPC64 systems and can be overritten via
debugfs. If this option is enabled, on the error recovery path the
driver will call pci_channel_offline() to check for error condition and
issue non-raw MMIO reads to trigger early EEH detection in case of
hardware failures. This is necessary since the driver MMIO helper
funtions use raw accessors.

AT91 symbols AT91SAM9263, AT91SAM9RL, and AT91SAM9G45 do not exist and this
patch changes them to their correct ARCH_* version.
These symbols are chosen instead of the SOC_* ones because this driver is not
converted to DT.
Anyway, the ATMEL_PWM symbol and the associated driver will be removed soon,
during the move to the PWM sub-system.

This patch - finally, after over 6 months! :-( - addresses
Samuel's request to split the vexpress-sysreg driver into
smaller portions and define the device in a form of MFD
cells:
* LEDs code has been completely removed and replaced with
"gpio-leds" nodes in the tree (referencing dedicated
GPIO subnodes in sysreg - bindings documentation updated);
this also better fits the reality as some variants of the
motherboard don't have all the LEDs populated
* syscfg bridge code has been extracted into a separate
driver (placed in drivers/misc for no better place)
* all the ID & MISC registers are defined as sysconf
making them available for other drivers should they need
to use them (and also to the user via /sys/kernel/debug/regmap
which can be helpful in platform debugging)

Adding power gating introduced new waiting state for client also during
connection attempt, a connection request can be queued for later either due
device is power gated or due to other on going connection.
We setting client connection state before start of full connect procedure so
in both cased the client state will be MEI_FILE_CONNECTING
which create interlock between the two connection attempts, both
detecting that another connection is in progress.
The interlock is resolved by moving client to connecting state
only upon connection request transmission, so the first

When moving cbs to the completion list we should not look at
writing_state as this state can be already overwritten by next

that it was already written to the HW and we can safely complete it.

When being used in a multithreaded application there were problems
with memory pages/cachelines accessed by multiple threads/cpus at the
same time, while doing DMA transfers to/from those. To avoid such

There have been lots of changes in ALSA core, HD-audio and ASoC, also
most of PCI drivers touched by conversions of printks. All these
resulted in a high volume and wide ranged patch sets in this release.
Many changes are fairly trivial, but also lots of nice cleanups and
refactors. There are a few new drivers, most notably, the Intel
Haswell and Baytrail ASoC driver.
Core changes:
- A bit modernization; embed the device struct into snd_card struct,
so that it may be referred from the beginning. A new snd_card_new()
function is introduced for that, and all drivers have been
converted.
- Simplification in the device management code in ALSA core;
now managed by a simple priority list instead
- Converted many kernel messages to use the standard dev_err() & co;
this would be the pretty visible difference, especially for
HD-audio.
HD-audio:
- Conexant codecs use the auto-parser as default now;
the old static code still remains in case of regressions.
Some old quirks have been rewritten with the fixups for auto-parser.
- C-Media codecs also use the auto-parser as default now, too.
- A device struct is assigned to each HD-audio codec, and the formerly
hwdep attributes are accessible over the codec sysfs, too.
hwdep attributes still remain for compatibility.
- Split the PCI-specific stuff for HD-audio controller into a separate
module, ane make a helper module for the generic controller driver.
This is a preliminary change for supporting Tegra HDMI controller in
near future, which slipped from 3.15 merge.
- Device-specific fixes: mute LED support for Lenovo Ideapad,
mic LED fix for HP laptops, more ASUS subwoofer quirks, yet more
Dell laptop headset quirks
- Make the HD-audio codec response a bit more robust
- A few improvements on Realtek ALC282 / 283 about the pop noises
- A couple of Intel HDMI fixes
ASoC:
- Lots of cleanups for enumerations; refactored lots of error prone
original codes to use more modern APIs
- Elimination of the ASoC level wrappers for I2C and SPI moving us
closer to converting to regmap completely and avoiding some
randconfig hassle
- Provide both manually and transparently locked DAPM APIs rather than
a mix of the two fixing some concurrency issues
- Start converting CODEC drivers to use separate bus interface drivers
rather than having them all in one file helping avoid dependency
issues
- DPCM support for Intel Haswell and Bay Trail platforms, lots of
fixes
- Lots of work on improvements for simple-card, DaVinci and the Renesas
rcar drivers.
- New drivers for Analog Devices ADAU1977, TI PCM512x and parts of the
CSR SiRF SoC, TLV320AIC31XXX, Armada 370 DB, Cirrus cs42xx8
- Fixes for the simple-card DAI format DT mess
- DT support for a couple more devices.
- Use of the tdm_slot mapping in a few drivers
Others:
- Support of reset_resume callback for improved S4 in USB-audio driver;
the device with boot quirks have been little tested, which we need
to watch out in this development cycle
- Add PM support for ICE1712 driver (finally!);
it's still pretty partial support, only for M-Audio devices

Quite a busy release for ASoC this time, more on janitorial work than
exciting new features but welcome nontheless:
- Lots of cleanups from Takashi for enumerations; the original API for
these was error prone so he's refactored lots of code to use more
modern APIs which avoid issues.
- Elimination of the ASoC level wrappers for I2C and SPI moving us
closer to converting to regmap completely and avoiding some
randconfig hassle.
- Provide both manually and transparently locked DAPM APIs rather than
a mix of the two fixing some concurrency issues.
- Start converting CODEC drivers to use separate bus interface drivers
rather than having them all in one file helping avoid dependency
issues.
- DPCM support for Intel Haswell and Bay Trail platforms.
- Lots of work on improvements for simple-card, DaVinci and the Renesas
rcar drivers.
- New drivers for Analog Devices ADAU1977, TI PCM512x and parts of the
CSR SiRF SoC.

There is a race in ME hardware between data copy for host and interrupt
delivery. An interrupt can be delivered prior to whole data copied for the
host to read but rather then going trough the reset we just merely need to
wait for the next interrupt.
The bug is visible in read/write stress with multiple connections per client

GFP_THISNODE is for callers that implement their own clever fallback to
remote nodes. It restricts the allocation to the specified node and
does not invoke reclaim, assuming that the caller will take care of it
when the fallback fails, e.g. through a subsequent allocation request
without GFP_THISNODE set.
However, many current GFP_THISNODE users only want the node exclusive
aspect of the flag, without actually implementing their own fallback or
triggering reclaim if necessary. This results in things like page
migration failing prematurely even when there is easily reclaimable
memory available, unless kswapd happens to be running already or a
concurrent allocation attempt triggers the necessary reclaim.
Convert all callsites that don't implement their own fallback strategy
to __GFP_THISNODE. This restricts the allocation a single node too, but
at the same time allows the allocator to enter the slowpath, wake
kswapd, and invoke direct reclaim if necessary, to make the allocation
happen when memory is full.

iovcnt is declared as a signed integer in both the userspace API and
as a local variable in mic_virtio.c. The while() loop in mic_virtio.c
iterates until the local variable iovcnt reaches the value 0. If
userspace passes e.g. INT_MIN as iovcnt field, this loop then appears
to depend on an undefined behavior (signed underflow) to complete.
The fix is to use unsigned integers in both the userspace API and
the local variable.
