9b87a5b0d4 ASoC: pxa: Remove superfluous locking
The locking here was added in commit 71a295602e ("ASoC: Lock the CODEC in PXA
external jack controls") to protect the DAPM changes that are made inside of
${board}_ext_control() against concurrent updates. The ASoC core was updated in
commit a73fb2df01 ("ASoC: dapm: Use DAPM mutex for DAPM ops instead of codec
mutex") to use a card wide lock rather the CODEC mutex to protect DAPM
operations. We now have proper locking inside ${board}_ext_control() itself, so
taking the CODEC lock can be removed.

codec->control_data contains a pointer to the regmap struct of the device, not
to the device private data. Use snd_soc_codec_get_drvdata() instead.

The issue was introduced in commit 29fdf4fbbe ("ASoC: sta32x: Convert to

The snd_soc_dapm_xxxx_pin all require the dapm_mutex to be held when

9a8d38db03 ASoC: Rename soc_enum.max field with items
The name "max" in struct soc_enum is rather confusing since it
actually takes the number of items. With "max", one might try to
assign (nitems - 1) value.

Rename the field to a more appropriate one, "items", which is also
used in struct snd_ctl_elem_info, too.

This patch also rewrites some code like "if (x > e->nitems - 1)" with
"if (x >= e->nitems)". Not only the latter improves the readability,
it also fixes a potential bug when e->items is zero.

6dda27cbbd ASoC: Intel: sst-acpi: Add support for multiple machine drivers per platform
Initial implementation of this driver focused only matching SST ACPI ID
with single machine driver and same firmware file per platform. It was known
restriction to be improved incrementally.

This patch is now changing this that SST ACPI ID refers purely to platform
specific data which refers to machine drivers on this platform, not vice
versa.

Matching machine driver is found by looking at ACPI ID which would best
match with the driver. Typically this would be the ACPI ID of audio codec
but is not tied to it.

This patch also changes that DSP firmware name is machine not platform
specific.

e5161d7987 ASoC: Intel: sst-acpi: Request firmware before SST platform driver probing
We originally thought to request SST audio DSP firmware during the SST
platform driver initialization. However plain request_firmware doesn't
work in driver probe paths if userspace is not ready to handle it. For
instance when drivers are built-in.

Implementing asynchronous firmware request in SST platform driver
initialization complicates code needlessly since it anyway will fail if
firmware is missing.

This is more simple to handle by requesting firmware asynchronously in
sst_acpi_probe() and register SST platform only after firmware is loaded.

They can be connected to either a SPI or I2C bus. The driver is implemented in
three modules, one main module (adau1977.ko) which implements the device logic
and one module each for SPI (adau1977-spi.ko) and I2C (adau1977-i2c.ko) bus
access.

Add support for Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) audio DSPs.
This driver provides the low level IO, reset, boot and IRQ management
for Intel audio DSPs. These files make up the low level part of the SST

Haswell, Broadwell and Baytrail.

SST DSPs expose a memory mapped region (shim) for config and control.
The shim layout is mostly shared without much modification across cores
and this driver provides a uniform API to access the shim and to enable
basic shim functions. It also provides functionality to abstract some shim
functions for cores with different shim features.

0c2d696456 ASoC: adav80x: Split SPI and I2C code into different modules
There are a few known (minor) problems with having the support code for both I2C

    * We need to be extra careful to make sure to not build the driver into the
kernel if one of the subsystems is build as a module (Currently only I2C
can be build as a module).
    * The module init path error handling is rather ugly. E.g. what should be

that implement SPI and I2C in the same module currently fallback to
undefined behavior in that case. Splitting the the driver into two

This patch splits the ADAV80X driver into 3 modules. One core module that

47cf84e17e ASoC: fsl: fix pm support of machine drivers
The commit 1abe729 (ASoC: fsl: Add missing pm to current machine
drivers) enables pm support for a few IMX machine drivers. But it does
not update dev drvdata to be the pointer to 'card'. This causes the
kernel dump below in system suspend, because snd_soc_suspend() expects
that the dev drvdata points to 'card', while it still points to the
private data of machine driver.

This patch fixes imx-sgtl5000 and imx-wm8962 by attaching 'card' to dev
drvdata and private data to card drvdata. For imx-mc13783, I simply
revert the pm change because it must be broken for the same reason and
I don't have hardware to test pm enabling code.

The PCM512x devices use a paged register map covering the entire register

Also mark the new registers as accessible with the exception of the

1291e14175 ASoC: codecs: Make OF supported CODECs visible in Kconfig
Now that we have a generic card driver we can't rely on the card driver
selecting the CODECs for us so make the CODECs that can be enabled with
OF directly selectable in Kconfig. For the platforms not using OF it's
not clear that we don't still want to have some board specific selection
since the kernel needs to contain code to register the devices; ACPI could
provide this from firmware does not yet support any kind of generic card.

It may also be desirable to hide these if OF is not enabled to reduce
noise.

f227b88f0f ASoC: core: Add signed register volume control logic
Some codecs use signed volume control representation with non standard
register sizes, e.g. 6 or 7 bit signed integers.

This patch adds generic signed register volume control logic to
soc-core. Instead of a fixed width signed register control, this
implementation uses a 'min' value and the signed bit location to translate
it to an absolute volume. Using the 'sign_bit' we can calculate a
correct mask for the register values and translate it back into signed
integers of standard size.

f2c73464d7 ARM: SoC cleanups for 3.14
This is the branch where we usually queue up cleanup efforts, moving
drivers out of the architecture directory, header file restructuring,
etc. Sometimes they tangle with new development so it's hard to keep it

Some of the things included in this branch are:

 * Atmel SAMA5 conversion to common clock
 * Reset framework conversion for tegra platforms

 * Tegra DMA refactoring, which are shared branches with the DMA tree.

d70e861a31 ASoC: samsung: Remove SND_DMAENGINE_PCM_FLAG_NO_RESIDUE flag
The Samsung dmaengine ASoC driver is used with two different dmaengine drivers.
The pl80x, which properly supports residue reporting and the pl330, which
reports that it does not support residue reporting. So there is no need to
manually set the NO_RESIDUE flag. This has the advantage that a proper (race
condition free) PCM pointer() implementation is used when the pl80x driver is
used. Also once the pl330 driver supports residue reporting the ASoC PCM driver
will automatically start using it.

93b943edfc ASoC: generic-dmaengine-pcm: Check NO_RESIDUE flag at runtime
Currently we have two different snd_soc_platform_driver structs in the generic
dmaengine PCM driver. One for dmaengine drivers that support residue reporting
and one for those which do not. When registering the PCM component we check
whether the NO_RESIDUE flag is set or not and use the corresponding
snd_soc_platform_driver. This patch modifies the driver to only have one
snd_soc_platform_driver struct where the pointer() callback checks the
NO_RESIDUE flag at runtime. This allows us to set the NO_RESIDUE flag after the
PCM component has been registered. This becomes necessary when querying whether
the dmaengine driver supports residue reporting from the dmaengine driver itself
since the DMA channel might only be requested after the PCM component has been
registered.

43d24e76b6 ASoC: fsl_esai: Add ESAI CPU DAI driver
This patch implements a device-tree-only CPU DAI driver for Freescale ESAI
controller that supports:

 - 12 channels playback and 8 channels record.
[ Some of the inner transmitters and receivers are sharing same group of
pins. So the maxmium 12 output or 8 input channels are only valid if
there is no pin conflict occurring to it. ]

 - Independent (asynchronous mode) or shared (synchronous mode) transmit and
receive sections with separate or shared internal/external clocks and frame
syncs, operating in Master or Slave mode.
[ Current ALSA seems not to allow CPU DAI drivers to configure DAI format
separately for PLAYBACK and CAPTURE. So this first version only supports
the case that uses the same DAI format for both directions. ]

 - Various DAI formats: I2S, Left-Justified, Right-Justified, DSP-A and DSP-B.

 - Programmable word length (8, 16, 20 or 24bits)

 - Flexible selection between system clock or external oscillator as input
clock source, programmable internal clock divider and frame sync generation.

4e6ec0d98c ASoC: fsl-ssi: Add configuration helper functions
This patch adds a struct 'fsl_ssi_rxtx_reg_val' which holds register
values necessary to enable rx/tx. Based on those preset register values,
the added configuration functions will cleanly enable/disable different
parts of the SSI IP while supporting online/offline configuration.
Different operating modes can be setup directly as different register
values in fsl_ssi_reg_val.

These functions and structs will help to cleanup and simplify the
trigger function to support many different IP versions (online/offline

c1953bfe13 ASoC: fsl-ssi: Add imx51-ssi and of_device_id matching
There is a small but significant difference between imx21-ssi and
imx51-ssi and above. imx21-ssi does not allow online reconfiguration of
some registers. They have to be configured at the beginning.

imx51-ssi has to reconfigure the SSI unit while it is running. Otherwise
it would not be possible to have two streams in parallel. The new SDMA
unit in imx51 and above has to be configured before the first DMA
request arrives. Therefor we need to setup TDMAE/RDMAE just before
starting the stream.

This patch introduces distinct imx51-ssi as compatible and adds
of_device_id matching in the probe function.

1e9de42f43 ASoC: dpcm: Explicitly set BE DAI link supported stream directions
Some BE DAIs can be "dummy" (when the DSP is controlling the DAI) and as such
wont have set a minimum number of playback or capture channels required for BE
DAI registration (to establish supported stream directions).

Force machine drivers to explicitly set whether they support playback and capture
stream directions for every BE DAIs.

8c0b8230b2 ASoC: simple-card: keep the property's name the same pattern
Even though we might not have rigor rule for the simple card property names,
according to the existing ones, they are all in a same pattern:

[simple-audio-card,]XXX;

Rename simple-audio-routing to simple-audio-card,routing, and make the simple
card's properties has one unified name.

33899b1985 ASoC: ux500: Dramatically reduce the size of the DAI driver data struct
We no longer have a means to differentiate between MSP devices at probe
time, mainly because we don't really have to. So rather than have an over-
sized static data structure in place, where the only difference between
devices is the ID and name (which are unused), we'll just create one
succinct, statically assigned and shared one instead.

86a3fdfc63 ASoC: ux500_pcm: Differentiate between pdata and DT initialisation
If booting with full DT support (i.e. DMA too, the last piece of the
puzzle), then we don't need to use the compatible_request_channel call
back or require some of the historical bumph which probably isn't
required by a platform data start-up now either. This will also be
ripped out in upcoming commits.
