Some parameters of the VPE descriptors were understood incorrectly. They are now
fixed. The fixes are explained as follows:
- When adding an inbound data descriptor to the VPDMA descriptor list, we intend
to use c_rect as the cropped region fetched by VPDMA. Therefore, c_rect->width
shouldn't be used to calculate the line stride, the original image width
should be used for that. We add a 'width' argument which gives the buffer
width in memory.
- frame_width and frame_height describe the complete width and height of the
client to which the channel is connected. If there are multiple channels
fetching data and providing to the same client, the above 2 arguments should
be the width and height of the region covered by all the channels. In the case
where there is only one channel providing pixel data to the client
(like in VPE), frame_width and frame_height should be the cropped width and
cropped height respectively. The calculation of these params is done in the
vpe driver now.
- start_h and start_v is also used in the case of multiple channels to describe
where each channel should start filling pixel data. We don't use this in VPE,
and pass 0s to the vpdma_add_in_dtd() helper.
- Some minor changes are made to the vpdma_add_out_dtd() helper. The c_rect
param is used for specifying the 'composition' target, and 'width' is added
to calculate the line stride.

For OMAP and DRA7x, we generally allocate video and graphics buffers through
omapdrm since the corresponding omap-gem driver provides DMM-Tiler backed
contiguous buffers. omapdrm is a dma-buf exporter. These buffers are used by
other drivers in the video pipeline.
Add VB2_DMABUF flag to the io_modes of the vb2 output and capture queues. This
allows the driver to import dma shared buffers.

vpe fops(vpe_open in particular) should be called only when VPDMA firmware
is loaded. File operations on the video device are possible the moment it is
registered.
Currently, we register the video device for VPE at driver probe, after calling
a vpdma helper to initialize VPDMA and load firmware. This function is
non-blocking(it calls request_firmware_nowait()), and doesn't ensure that the
firmware is actually loaded when it returns.
We remove the device registration from vpe probe, and move it to a callback
provided by the vpe driver to the vpdma library, through vpdma_create().
The ready field in vpdma_data is no longer needed since we always have firmware
loaded before the device is registered.
A minor problem with this approach is that if the video_register_device
fails(which doesn't really happen), the vpe platform device would be registered.
however, there won't be any v4l2 device corresponding to it.

This patch moves data allocated using kzalloc to managed data allocated
using devm_kzalloc and cleans now unnecessary kfrees in probe and remove

Prevent decompression of a JPEG 4:2:0 with odd width to
the YUV 4:2:0 compliant formats for Exynos4x12 SoCs and
adjust capture format to RGB565 in such a case. This is
required because the configuration would produce a raw
image with broken luma component.

This patch fixes jpeg sysmmu page fault on Exynos4x12 SoCs.
During encoding Exynos4x12 SoCs access wider memory area
than it results from Image_x and Image_y values written to
the JPEG_IMAGE_SIZE register. In order to avoid sysmmu page
fault apply proper output buffer size alignment.

Testing showed that HW produces BGR32 rather then RGB32 as exposed
in the driver. The documentation seems to state the pixels are stored
in little endian order.

Depth and payload is defined per memory plane. It's better to iterate using
number of memory planes. This was not causing much issue since the rest
of the arrays involved where intialized to zero.

Implement support for the VSP1 DT bindings in the VSP1 driver. The
driver now first retrieves platform data either from the platform data
pointer or by reading the device tree node, and then validates it

Scaling of the alpha layer is disabled as both the RPF and WPF are
configured to hardcode the alpha value to 255. This results in a 0 alpha
value at the UDS output, making the image invisible when alpha blended
in the BRU. Fix it by enabling scaling of the alpha layer.

The vb2 core ignores any return code from the stop_streaming op.
And there really isn't anything it can do anyway in case of an error.
So change the return type to void and update any drivers that implement it.
The int return gave drivers the idea that this operation could actually
fail, but that's really not the case.
The pwc amd sdr-msi3101 drivers both had this construction:
if (mutex_lock_interruptible(&s->v4l2_lock))
return -ERESTARTSYS;
This has been updated to just call mutex_lock(). The stop_streaming op
expects this to really stop streaming and I very much doubt this will
work reliably if stop_streaming just returns without really stopping the
DMA.

VIDEO_TIMBERDALE selects TIMB_DMA which itself depends on
MFD_TIMBERDALE, so VIDEO_TIMBERDALE should either select or depend on
MFD_TIMBERDALE as well. I chose to make it depend on it because I
think it makes more sense and it is consistent with what other options
are doing.
Adding a "|| HAS_IOMEM" to the TIMB_DMA dependencies silenced the
kconfig warning about unmet direct dependencies but it was wrong:
without MFD_TIMBERDALE, TIMB_DMA is useless as the driver has no
device to bind to.

"vb2: only call start_streaming if sufficient buffers are queued"
the vb2 framework warns on (WARN_ON()) if all the active buffers
are not released when streaming is stopped, initially the vb2 silently
released the buffer internally if the buffer was not released by
the driver.
Also this patch moves the disabling of interrupts from relase() callback
to stop_streaming() callback as which needs to be done ideally.
This patch fixes following issue:

The dequed CAPTURE_MPLANE type buffers don't contain the flags that the
originally queued OUTPUT_MPLANE type buffers have. This breaks compliance.
Copy the source v4l2_buffer flags to the destination v4l2_buffer flags before
they are dequed.

The vpe driver wasn't setting the correct field parameter for dequed CAPTURE
type buffers for the case where the captured output is progressive.
Set the field to V4L2_FIELD_NONE for the completed destination buffers when
the captured output is progressive.
For OUTPUT type buffers, a queued buffer's field is forced to V4L2_FIELD_NONE
if the pixel format(configured through s_fmt for the buffer type
V4L2_BUF_TYPE_VIDEO_OUTPUT_MPLANE specifies) the field type isn't interlaced.
If the pixel format specified was V4L2_FIELD_ALTERNATE, and the queued buffer's
field isn't V4L2_FIELD_TOP or V4L2_FIELD_BOTTOM, the vb2 buf_prepare op returns
an error.
This ensures compliance, and that the dequeued output and captured buffers
contain the field type that the driver used internally.

Zero out the reserved formats in v4l2_pix_format_mplane and
v4l2_plane_pix_format members of the returned v4l2_format pointer when passed
through TRY_FMT ioctl.
This ensures that the user doesn't interpret the non-zero fields as some data
passed by the driver, and ensures compliance.

The vpe output and capture queues are initially configured to default values in
vpe_open(). A G_FMT before any S_FMTs will result in these values being
populated.
The colorspace and bytesperline parameter of this initial configuration are
incorrect. This breaks compliance when as we get 'TRY_FMT(G_FMT) != G_FMT'.
Fix the initial queue configuration such that it wouldn't need to be fixed by
try_fmt.

The bus_info parameter in v4l2_capabilities expects a 'platform_' prefix. This

querycap currently returns V4L2_CAP_VIDEO_M2M as a capability, this should be
V4L2_CAP_VIDEO_M2M_MPLANE instead, as the driver supports multiplanar formats.

The minimum width and height for VPE input/output was kept as 128 pixels. VPE
doesn't have a constraint on the image height, it requires the image width to
be at least 16 bytes.
Change the minimum supported dimensions to 32x32. This allows us to de-interlace
qcif content. A smaller image size than 32x32 didn't make much sense, so stopped
at this.

The video_device struct is currently embedded in the driver data struct vpe_dev.
A vpe_dev instance is allocated by the driver, and the memory for the vfd is a
part of this struct.
The v4l2 core, however, manages the removal of the vfd region, through the
video_device's .release() op, which currently is the helper
video_device_release. This causes memory corruption, and leads to issues when
we try to re-insert the vpe module.
Use the video_device_release_empty helper function instead.

VPE has a ctrl parameter which decides how many mem to mem transactions the
active job from the job queue can perform.
The driver's job_ready() made sure that the number of ready source buffers are
sufficient for the job to execute successfully. But it didn't make sure if
there are sufficient ready destination buffers in the capture queue for the
VPE output.
If the time taken by VPE to process a single frame is really slow, then it's
possible that we don't need to imply such a restriction on the dst queue, but
really fast transactions(small resolution, no de-interlacing) may cause us to
hit the condition where we don't have any free buffers for the VPE to write on.
Add the extra check in job_ready() to make sure we have the sufficient amount
of destination buffers.

The of_graph_get_next_endpoint() function was moved and renamed by

drivers/media/v4l2-core/v4l2-of.c.
In that original location, it was then fixed to support empty port

Add a video capture node for the FIMC-IS ISP IP block. The Exynos4x12
FIMC-IS ISP IP block has 2 DMA interfaces that allow to capture raw
Bayer and YUV data to memory. Currently only the DMA2 output is and
raw Bayer data capture is supported.

This patch removes the common fimc-is-sensor driver for image sensors
that are normally controlled by the FIMC-IS firmware. The FIMC-IS
driver now contains only a table of properties specific to each sensor.
The sensor properties required for the ISP's firmware are parsed from
device tree and retrieved from the internal table, which is selected
based on the compatible property of an image sensor.
To use the Exynos4x12 internal ISP the S5K6A3 sensor driver (drivers/
media/i2c/s5k6a3.c) is now required.

Since the introduction of the new OMAP DSS DVI connector driver in
commit 348077b154 ("OMAPDSS: Add new DVI
Connector driver"), DVI outputs report a new display type of
OMAP_DISPLAY_TYPE_DVI instead of OMAP_DISPLAY_TYPE_DPI. Handle the new
type in the IRQ handler.

try_fmt should just set field to NONE and not return an error if
a different field was passed.
buf_prepare should check if the field passed in from userspace has a
supported field value. At the moment only NONE is supported and ANY
is mapped to NONE.

This resolves an issue raised by v4l2-compliance: if the given format does
not exist, then pick a default format.
While there is an exception regarding this for TV capture drivers, this

interruptible_sleep_on is racy and going away. In the arv driver that
race has probably never caused problems since it would require a whole
video frame to be captured before the read function has a chance to
go to sleep, but using wait_event_interruptible lets us kill off the
old interface. In order to do this, we have to slightly adapt the
meaning of the ar->start_capture field to distinguish between not having
started a frame and having completed it.

In commit 02f142ecd2 support was added to
start_streaming to return -ENOBUFS if insufficient buffers were queued
for the DMA engine to start. The vb2 core would attempt calling
start_streaming again if another buffer would be queued up.
Later analysis uncovered problems with the queue management if start_streaming
would return an error: the buffers are enqueued to the driver before the
start_streaming op is called, so after an error they are never returned to
the vb2 core. The solution for this is to let the driver return them to
the vb2 core in case of an error while starting the DMA engine. However,
in the case of -ENOBUFS that would be weird: it is not a real error, it
just says that more buffers are needed. Requiring start_streaming to give
them back only to have them requeued again the next time the application
calls QBUF is inefficient.
This patch changes this mechanism: it adds a 'min_buffers_needed' field
to vb2_queue that drivers can set with the minimum number of buffers
required to start the DMA engine. The start_streaming op is only called
if enough buffers are queued. The -ENOBUFS handling has been dropped in
favor of this new method.
Drivers are expected to return buffers back to vb2 core with state QUEUED
if start_streaming would return an error. The vb2 core checks for this
and produces a warning if that didn't happen and it will forcefully
reclaim such buffers to ensure that the internal vb2 core state remains
consistent and all buffer-related resources have been correctly freed
and all op calls have been balanced.
__reqbufs() has been updated to check that at least min_buffers_needed
buffers could be allocated. If fewer buffers were allocated then __reqbufs
will free what was allocated and return -ENOMEM. Based on a suggestion from
Pawel Osciak.
__create_bufs() doesn't do that check, since the use of __create_bufs
assumes some advance scenario where the user might want more control.
Instead streamon will check if enough buffers were allocated to prevent
streaming with fewer than the minimum required number of buffers.

This patch adds a new struct of_endpoint which is then embedded in struct
v4l2_of_endpoint and contains the endpoint properties that are not V4L2
(or even media) specific: the port number, endpoint id, local device tree
node and remote endpoint phandle. of_graph_parse_endpoint parses those
properties and is used by v4l2_of_parse_endpoint, which just adds the
V4L2 MBUS information to the containing v4l2_of_endpoint structure.

This patch moves the parsing helpers used to parse connected graphs
in the device tree, like the video interface bindings documented in
Documentation/devicetree/bindings/media/video-interfaces.txt, from
drivers/media/v4l2-core/v4l2-of.c into drivers/of/base.c.
This allows to reuse the same parser code from outside the V4L2
framework, most importantly from display drivers.
The functions v4l2_of_get_next_endpoint, v4l2_of_get_remote_port,
and v4l2_of_get_remote_port_parent are moved. They are renamed to
of_graph_get_next_endpoint, of_graph_get_remote_port, and
of_graph_get_remote_port_parent, respectively.
Since there are not that many current users yet, switch all of
them to the new functions right away.

sleep_on and its variants are broken and going away soon. This changes

Memory-to-memory pipelines have no external subdev, we shouldn't try to
locate one and validate its configuration. The driver currently works by
chance due to another bug that results in failure to locate the external
subdev being ignored.
This gets rid of the "omap3isp omap3isp: can't find source, failing now"
error message in the kernel log when operating on a memory-to-memory
pipeline.

Drop the vid_limit module option: there is really no need to limit this.
No other driver does that. If you try to allocate more buffers then vb2
will automatically reduce the number of buffers anyway.
Also add sanity checks if the size in the fmt argument is going to be
used and drop the code that checks against *nbuffers == 0: this can
never happen (the vb2 framework ensures that) and the code was wrong
anyway since *nbuffers should have been set to the minimum number of
required buffers which is 1 for this driver.
Since vivi is often used as a template driver it is good to have this
driver be as compliant as possible. This broken code was for example
copied to the s2255 driver (which is being fixed as well).

The sequence counting was not reset to 0 between each streaming run,
and it was increased only every other frame. This is incorrect behavior:
the confusion is with FIELD_ALTERNATE systems where each field is transmitted
separately and only when both fields have been received is the frame
sequence number increased.

s5p_mfc_get_node_type() relies on get_index() helper function, which in
turn relies on video_device index numbers assigned on driver
registration. All this code is not really needed, because there is
already access to respective video_device structures via common
s5p_mfc_dev structure. This fixes the issues introduced by patch
1056e4388b ("v4l2-dev: Fix race condition
on __video_register_device"), which has been merged in v3.12-rc1.

Under abnormal conditions (such as glitches on the HSYNC/VSYNC signals)
the CCDC output SBL can fail to become idle. The driver currently logs
this condition to the kernel log and doesn't restart the CCDC. This
results in CCDC video capture hanging without any notification to
userspace.
Cancel the pipeline and mark the CCDC as crashed instead of hanging.
Userspace will be notified of the problem and will then be able to close
and reopen the device to trigger a reset of the ISP.

When a fatal error that prevents any further video streaming occurs in a
pipeline, all queued buffers must be marked as erroneous and new buffers
must be prevented from being queued. Implement this behaviour with a new
omap3isp_pipeline_cancel_stream() function that can be used by
submodules to cancel streaming.

The struct vpdma_data_format holds the color format depth and the data_type
value needed to be programmed in the data descriptors. However, it doesn't
tell what type of color format is it, i.e, whether it is RGB, YUV or Misc.
This information is needed when by vpdma library when forming descriptors. We
modify the depth parameter for the chroma portion of the NV12 format. For this,
we check if the data_type value is C420. This isn't sufficient as there are
many YUV and RGB vpdma formats which have the same data_type value. Hence, we
need to hold the type of the color format for the above case, and possibly more
cases in the future.

Use the csc library functions to configure the CSC block in VPE.
Some changes are required in try_fmt to handle the pix->colorspace parameter
more correctly. Previously, we copied the source queue colorspace to the
destination queue colorspace as we didn't support RGB formats. Now, we configure
pix->colorspace based on the color format set(and the height of the image if
it's a YUV format).
Add basic RGB color formats to the list of supported vpe formats.
If the destination format is RGB colorspace, we also need to use the RGB output
port instead of the Luma and Chroma output ports. This requires configuring the
output data descriptors differently.
Also, make the default colorspace V4L2_COLORSPACE_SMPTE170M as that resembles
the Standard Definition colorspace more closely.

The CSC block can be used for color space conversion between YUV and RGB
formats.
It is configurable via a programmable set of coefficients. Add functionality to
choose the appropriate CSC coefficients and program them in the CSC registers.
We take the source and destination colorspace formats as the arguments, and
choose the coefficient table accordingly.
YUV to RGB coefficients are provided for standard and high definition
colorspaces. The coefficients can also be limited or full range. For now, only
full range coefficients are chosen. We would need some sort of control ioctl for
the user to specify the range needed. Not sure if there is a generic control
ioctl for this already?

VPE and VIP IPs in DAR7x contain a color space converter(CSC) sub block. Create
a library which will perform CSC related configurations and hold CSC register
definitions. The functions provided by this library will be called by the vpe
and vip drivers using a csc_data handle.
The vpe_dev holds the csc_data handle. The handle represents an instance of the
CSC hardware, and the vpe driver uses it to access the CSC register offsets or
helper functions to configure these registers.
The CSC register offsets are now relative to the CSC block itself, so we need
to use the macro GET_OFFSET_TOP to get the CSC register offset relative to the
VPE IP in the vpe driver.

Add the required SC register configurations which lets us perform linear scaling
for the supported range of horizontal and vertical scaling ratios.
The horizontal scaler performs polyphase scaling using it's 8 tap 32 phase
filter, decimation is performed when downscaling passes beyond 2x or 4x.
The vertical scaler performs polyphase scaling using it's 5 tap 32 phase filter,
it switches to a simpler form of scaling using the running average filter when
the downscale ratio is more than 4x.
Many of the SC features like peaking, trimming and non-linear scaling aren't
implemented for now. Only the minimal register fields required for basic scaling
operation are configured.
The function to configure SC registers takes the sc_data handle, the source and
destination widths and heights, and the scaler address data block offsets for
the current context so that they can be configured.

Make the driver allocate dma buffers to store horizontal and scaler coeffs.
Use the scaler library api to choose and copy scaler coefficients to a
the above buffers based on the scaling ratio. Since the SC block comes after
the de-interlacer, make sure that the source height is doubled if de-interlacer
was used.
These buffers now need to be used by VPDMA to load the coefficients into the
SRAM within SC.
In device_run, add configuration descriptors which have payloads pointing to
the scaler coefficients in memory. Use the members in sc_data handle to prevent
addition of these descriptors if there isn't a need to re-load coefficients into
SC. This comes helps unnecessary re-loading of the coefficients when we switch
back and forth between vpe contexts.

The SC block in VPE/VIP contains a SRAM within it. This internal memory
requires to be loaded with appropriate scaler coefficients from a contiguous
block of memory through VPDMA.
The horizontal and vertical scaler each require 2 sets of scaler coefficients
for luma and chroma scaling. The horizontal polyphase scaler requires
coefficients for a 32 phase and 8 tap filter. Similarly, the vertical scaler
requires coefficients for a 5 tap filter.
The choice of the scaler coefficients depends on the scaling ratio. Add
coefficient tables for different scaling ratios in sc_coeffs.h. In the case of
horizontal downscaling, we need to consider the change in ratio caused by
decimation performed by the horizontal scaler.
In order to load the scaler coefficients via VPDMA, a configuration descriptor
is used in block mode. The payload for the descriptor is the scaler coefficients
copied to memory. Coefficients for each phase have to be placed in memory in a
particular order understood by the scaler hardware.
The choice of the scaler coefficients, and the loading of the coefficients from
our tables to a contiguous buffer is managed by the functions
sc_set_hs_coefficients and sc_set_vs_coefficients.
The sc_data handle is now added with some parameters to describe the state of
the coefficients loaded in the SC block. 'loaded_coeff_h' and 'loaded_coeff_v'
hold the address of the last dma buffer which was used by VPDMA to copy
coefficients. This information can be used by a vpe mem-to-mem context to decide
whether it should load coefficients or not. 'hs_index' and 'vs_index' provide
some optimization by preventing loading of coefficients if the scaling ratio
didn't change between 2 contexts. 'load_coeff_h' and 'load_coeff_v' tell the
vpe/vip driver whether we need to load the coefficients through VPDMA or not.

return the offset of the register relative to the VPE IP.

Now when the sub-drivers are fixed to work with runtime PM disabled
this erroneous dependency can be removed.
The CAM and ISP power domains should be left in active state by the
platform if runtime PM is not used.

The omap24xx driver and the tcm825x sensor driver are the only two
remaining drivers to still use the old deprecated v4l2-int-device API.
Nobody maintains these drivers anymore. But unfortunately the v4l2-int-device
API is used by out-of-tree drivers (MXC platform). This is a very bad situation
since as long as this deprecated API stays in the kernel there is no reason for
those out-of-tree drivers to convert.
This patch moves v4l2-int-device and the two drivers that depend on it to
staging in preparation for their removal.
If someone would be interested in getting these drivers to work, then start with
this since it's not very far from the state where they used to work:

Exynos4x12 has limitations regarding setting chroma subsampling
of an output JPEG image. It cannot be lower than the subsampling
of the raw source image. Also in case of V4L2_JPEG_CHROMA_SUBSAMPLING_GRAY
option the source image fourcc has to be V4L2_PIX_FMT_GREY.
This patch implements try_ctrl callback containing mechanism that
prevents setting invalid value of the V4L2_CID_JPEG_CHROMA_SUBSAMPLING
control.

When output queue fourcc is set to any flavour of YUV,
the V4L2_CID_JPEG_CHROMA_SUBSAMPLING control value as
well as its in-driver cached counterpart have to be
updated with the subsampling property of the format
so as to be able to provide correct information to the
user space and preclude setting an illegal subsampling
mode for Exynos4x12 encoder.

Adjust capture format to the Exynos4x12 device limitations,
according to the subsampling value parsed from the source
JPEG image header. If the capture format was set to YUV with
subsampling lower than the one of the source JPEG image

Make s5p_jpeg_parse_hdr function capable of parsing
"YCbCr subsampling" field of a jpeg file header. Store the
parsed value in the context.
The information about source JPEG subsampling is required to
make validation of destination format possible, which must be
conducted for exynos4x12 device as the decoding process will
not succeed if the destination format is set to YUV with
subsampling lower than the one of the source JPEG image.
With this knowledge the driver can adjust the destination format
appropriately.

In the ISI driver it reads the config register to get original value,
then set the correct FRATE_DIV and YCC_SWAP_MODE directly. This will
cause some bits overlap.
So we need to clear these bits first, then set correct value. This patch
fix it.

ISI_MCK is the sensor master clock. It should be handled by the sensor
driver directly, as the ISI has no use for that clock. Make the clock
optional here while platforms transition to the correct model.

The PCLK and MCK clocks are prepared and unprepared at probe and remove
time. Clock (un)preparation isn't needed before enabling/disabling the
clocks, and the enable/disable operation happen in non-atomic context.
We can thus defer (un)preparation to enable/disable time.

when a userspace applications calls the VIDIOC_STREAMON ioctl. The
V4L2 core calls the soc_camera_streamon function, which is responsible
for starting the video stream. It does so by first starting the atmel-isi
host by a call to the vb2_streamon function, and then starting the sensor
by a call to the video.s_stream sensor subdev operation.
That means we wait for a SOF in start_streaming() before call sensor's
s_stream(). It is possible no VSYNC interrupt arrive as the sensor
hasn't been started yet.
To avoid such case, this patch remove the code to wait for the VSYNC
interrupt. And such code is not necessary.

The clock core code is going to be modified so clk_get() takes
reference on the clock provider module. Until the potential circular
reference issue is properly addressed, we pass NULL as the first
argument to clk_register(), in order to disallow sub-devices taking
a reference on the ISP module back trough clk_get(). This should
prevent locking the modules in memory.

Standard suspend/resume path is called after runtime resume
of the given device, so suspend/resume callbacks must do all
clock management done also by runtime pm to allow for proper
power domain shutdown. Moreover, JPEG clock is enabled from

Aligning capture queue image dimensions while enqueuing output
queue doesn't make a sense as the S_FMT ioctl might have not
been called for the capture queue until that moment, whereas
it is required to know capture format as the type of alignment
heavily depends on it.

The aim of the condition is ensuring that the bytesperline
value set by the user space application is proper for the
given format and adjusting it if isn't. As the depth value
of the format description entry is expressed in bits then
the bytesperline value needs to be divided, not multiplied,
by that value to get the number of bytes required to store
single line of image samples.

Reorder quantization tables so that their elements
are arranged in the manner reflecting compression
quality level that is in accordance with V4L2 documentation,
i.e. the larger value of the V4L2_CID_JPEG_COMPRESSION_QUALITY
control the better image quality, and thus lower compression
quality. The modification allows also to get rid of
reverse logic in the s_ctrl callback while assigning
user space value to the ctx->compr_quality variable.

This patch enables the JPEG codec on S5PV210 and Exynos4210 SoCs. There are
some differences in newer versions of the JPEG codec IP on SoCs like Exynos4x12
and Exynos5 series and support for them will be added in subsequent patches.

When operating in DU output mode (deep pipeline to the DU through the
LIF), the VSP1 needs to constantly supply frames to the display. To
ensure reuse the last queued buffer instead of returning it to the user.

When VPDMA fetches or writes to an image buffer, the line stride must be a
multiple of 16 bytes. If it isn't, VPDMA HW will write/fetch until the next
16 byte boundry. This causes VPE to work incorrectly for source or destination
widths which don't satisfy the above alignment requirement.
In order to prevent this, we now make sure that when we set pix format for the
input and output buffers, the VPE source and destination image line strides are
16 byte aligned. Also, the motion vector buffers for the de-interlacer are
allocated in such a way that it ensures the same alignment.

The data_type value to be programmed in the data descriptors to fetch/write a
UYVY buffer was not mentioned correctly in the older DRA7x documentation. This
caused VPE to fail with UYVY color formats.
Update the data_type value to fix functionality when UYVY format is used.

In case of error, the function devm_kzalloc() and devm_ioremap()
returns NULL pointer not ERR_PTR(). The IS_ERR() test in the return
value check should be replaced with NULL test.

This define is only used in s5pcsis_irq_handler():

The problem is that "status" is a 32 bit and (0xff << 28) is larger than
32 bits and that sets off a static checker warning. I consulted with
Sylwester Nawrocki and the define should actually be (0xf << 28).

The remote subdev of any video node in the OMAP3 ISP is an internal
subdev that is guaranteed to implement get_fmt. Don't check the return
value for -ENOIOCTLCMD, as this can't happen.
While at it, move non-critical code out of the mutex-protected section.

The clock core code is going to be modified so clk_get() takes
reference on the clock provider module. Until the potential circular
reference issue is properly addressed, we pass NULL as the first
argument to clk_register(), in order to disallow sub-devices taking
a reference on the ISP module back trough clk_get(). This should
prevent locking the modules in memory.

during ARM mini-summit and KS. If they can't review in time for

during the same merge window affected the development
productivity, as several core media developers participated on

Pull dmaengine changes from Dan
1/ Bartlomiej and Dan finalized a rework of the dma address unmap
implementation.
2/ In the course of testing 1/ a collection of enhancements to dmatest
fell out. Notably basic performance statistics, and fixed / enhanced
test control through new module parameters 'run', 'wait', 'noverify',
and 'verbose'. Thanks to Andriy and Linus for their review.
3/ Testing the raid related corner cases of 1/ triggered bugs in the
recently added 16-source operation support in the ioatdma driver.
4/ Some minor fixes / cleanups to mv_xor and ioatdma.

"This series cleans up the handling of DMA masks in a lot of drivers,
fixing some bugs as we go.
Some of the more serious errors include:
- drivers which only set their coherent DMA mask if the attempt to
set the streaming mask fails.
- drivers which test for a NULL dma mask pointer, and then set the
dma mask pointer to a location in their module .data section -
which will cause problems if the module is reloaded.
To counter these, I have introduced two helper functions:
- dma_set_mask_and_coherent() takes care of setting both the
streaming and coherent masks at the same time, with the correct
error handling as specified by the API.
- dma_coerce_mask_and_coherent() which resolves the problem of
drivers forcefully setting DMA masks. This is more a marker for
future work to further clean these locations up - the code which
creates the devices really should be initialising these, but to fix
that in one go along with this change could potentially be very
disruptive.
The last thing this series does is prise away some of Linux's addition
to "DMA addresses are physical addresses and RAM always starts at
zero". We have ARM LPAE systems where all system memory is above 4GB
physical, hence having DMA masks interpreted by (eg) the block layers
as describing physical addresses in the range 0..DMAMASK fails on
these platforms. Santosh Shilimkar addresses this in this series; the
patches were copied to the appropriate people multiple times but were
ignored.
Fixing this also gets rid of some ARM weirdness in the setup of the
max*pfn variables, and brings ARM into line with every other Linux
architecture as far as those go"

platforms. Nomadik saw more device tree conversions and cleanup of old
code. Tegra has some code refactoring, etc.

hooks and tries to use a generic implementation for most platforms,
since they were all doing more or less the same things.

Some non soc-camera drivers, e.g. em28xx, use subdevice drivers, originally
written for soc-camera, which use soc_camera_power_on() and
soc_camera_power_off() helpers to implement their .s_power() methods. Those
helpers in turn can enable and disable a clock, if it is supplied to them
as a parameter. This works well when camera host drivers balance their
calls to subdevices' .s_power() methods. However, some such drivers fail to
do that, which leads to unbalanced calls to v4l2_clk_enable() /
v4l2_clk_disable(), which then in turn produce kernel warnings. Such
behaviour is wrong and should be fixed, however, sometimes it is difficult,
because some of those drivers are rather old and use lots of subdevices,
which all should be tested after such a fix. To support such drivers this
patch adds a work-around, allowing host drivers or platforms to set a flag,
in which case soc-camera helpers will only enable the clock, if it is
disabled, and disable it only once on the first call to .s_power(0).

If a frame is still decoding when system enters suspend mode, we wait
on the device queue for a interrupt condition. This sometimes leads to a
timeout because the device queue might not be woken up everytime.
Usually, the context queue gets woken up when that context's frame gets
decoded. This patch adds a condition to wake up the device queue along
with the context queue when the system is in suspend mode.
Since the device queue is now woken up, we don't have to check the
context's int_cond flag while waiting. Also, we can skip calling try_run
after waking up the device queue to ensure that we don't have to wait
for more than one frame to be processed.

The patch sets the default values of MAX_QP and GOP size encoder
parameters to some firmware recommended default values. This enables
the applications to get a better encoded output using the default

With the new firmware, there are not anymore four register sets,
but a single register set, which the driver has to conserve across

When the current context is running,
1] If release() or streamoff() is called on the current context,
it waits until the job is aborted or finished.
2] If the job is finished, driver will call the v4l2_m2m_job_finish().
3] If the job is aborted inside device_run callback, then driver
has to inform the v4l2 mem2mem framework about the same by calling
v4l2_m2m_job_finish() with VB2_BUF_STATE_ERROR.
The current code doesn't call v4l2_m2m_job_finish() in the case, where
the job is aborted from the device_run callback. This scenerio is
producing a hang as the other queued contexts are not getting scheduled.
By adding the ABORT state, driver can understand the current job
is aborted and not finished. By checking this flag, driver can call
v4l2_m2m_job_finish() with VB2_BUF_STATE_ERROR.

Add support for the de-interlacer block in VPE. For de-interlacer to
work, we need to enable 2 more sets of VPE input ports which fetch data
from the 'last' and 'last to last' fields of the interlaced video. Apart
from that, we need to enable the Motion vector output and input ports,
and also allocate DMA buffers for them.
We need to make sure that two most recent fields in the source queue are
available and in the 'READY' state. Once a mem2mem context gets access
to the VPE HW(in device_run), it extracts the addresses of the 3
buffers, and provides it to the data descriptors for the 3 sets of input
ports((LUMA1, CHROMA1), (LUMA2, CHROMA2), and (LUMA3, CHROMA3))
respectively for the 3 consecutive fields. The motion vector and output
port descriptors are configured and the list is submitted to VPDMA.
Once the transaction is done, the v4l2 buffer corresponding to the
oldest field(the 3rd one) is changed to the state 'DONE', and the
buffers corresponding to 1st and 2nd fields become the 2nd and 3rd field
for the next de-interlace operation. This way, for each deinterlace
operation, we have the 3 most recent fields. After each transaction, we
also swap the motion vector buffers, the new input motion vector buffer
contains the resultant motion information of all the previous frames,
and the new output motion vector buffer will be used to hold the updated
motion vector to capture the motion changes in the next field. The
motion vector buffers are allocated using the DMA allocation API.
The de-interlacer is removed from bypass mode, it requires some extra
default configurations which are now added. The chrominance upsampler
coefficients are added for interlaced frames. Some VPDMA parameters like
frame start event and line mode are configured for the 2 extra sets of
input ports.

VPE is a block which consists of a single memory to memory path which
can perform chrominance up/down sampling, de-interlacing, scaling, and
color space conversion of raster or tiled YUV420 coplanar, YUV422
coplanar or YUV422 interleaved video formats.
We create a mem2mem driver based primarily on the mem2mem-testdev
example. The de-interlacer, scaler and color space converter are all
bypassed for now to keep the driver simple. Chroma up/down sampler
blocks are implemented, so conversion beteen different YUV formats is
possible.
Each mem2mem context allocates a buffer for VPE MMR values which it will
use when it gets access to the VPE HW via the mem2mem queue, it also
allocates a VPDMA descriptor list to which configuration and data
descriptors are added.
Based on the information received via v4l2 ioctls for the source and
destination queues, the driver configures the values for the MMRs, and
stores them in the buffer. There are also some VPDMA parameters like
frame start and line mode which needs to be configured, these are
configured by direct register writes via the VPDMA helper functions.
The driver's device_run() mem2mem op will add each descriptor based on
how the source and destination queues are set up for the given ctx, once
the list is prepared, it's submitted to VPDMA, these descriptors when
parsed by VPDMA will upload MMR registers, start DMA of video buffers on
the various input and output clients/ports.
When the list is parsed completely(and the DMAs on all the output ports
done), an interrupt is generated which we use to notify that the source
and destination buffers are done. The rest of the driver is quite
similar to other mem2mem drivers, we use the multiplane v4l2 ioctls as
the HW support coplanar formats.

Create functions which the VPE driver can use to create a VPDMA
descriptor and add it to a VPDMA descriptor list. These functions take a
pointer to an existing list, and append the configuration/data/control
descriptor header to the list.
In the case of configuration descriptors, the creation of a payload
block may be required(the payloads can hold VPE MMR values, or scaler
coefficients). The allocation of the payload buffer and it's content is
left to the VPE driver. However, the VPDMA library provides helper
macros to create payload in the correct format.
Add debug functions to dump the descriptors in a way such that it's easy
to see the values of different fields in the descriptors.

The primary function of VPDMA is to move data between external memory
and internal processing modules(in our case, VPE) that source or sink
data. VPDMA is capable of buffering this data and then delivering the
data as demanded to the modules as programmed. The modules that source
or sink data are referred to as clients or ports. A channel is setup
inside the VPDMA to connect a specific memory buffer to a specific
client. The VPDMA centralizes the DMA control functions and buffering
required to allow all the clients to minimize the effect of long latency
times.
Add the following to the VPDMA helper:
- A data struct which describe VPDMA channels. For now, these channels
are the ones used only by VPE, the list of channels will increase when
VIP(Video Input Port) also uses the VPDMA library. This channel
information will be used to populate fields required by data
descriptors.
- Data structs which describe the different data types supported by
VPDMA. This data type information will be used to populate fields
required by data descriptors and used by the VPE driver to map a V4L2
format to the corresponding VPDMA data type.
- Provide VPDMA register offset definitions, functions to read, write
and modify VPDMA registers.
- Functions to create and submit a VPDMA list. A list is a group of
descriptors that makes up a set of DMA transfers that need to be
completed. Each descriptor will either perform a DMA transaction to
fetch input buffers and write to output buffers(data descriptors), or
configure the MMRs of sub blocks of VPE(configuration descriptors), or
provide control information to VPDMA (control descriptors).
- Functions to allocate, map and unmap buffers needed for the descriptor
list, payloads containing MMR values and scaler coefficients. These use
the DMA mapping APIs to ensure exclusive access to VPDMA.
- Functions to enable VPDMA interrupts. VPDMA can trigger an interrupt
on the VPE interrupt line when a descriptor list is parsed completely
and the DMA transactions are completed. This requires masking the events
in VPDMA registers and configuring some top level VPE interrupt
registers.
- Enable some VPDMA specific parameters: frame start event(when to start
DMA for a client) and line mode(whether each line fetched should be
mirrored or not).
- Function to load firmware required by VPDMA. VPDMA requires a firmware
for it's internal list manager. We add the required request_firmware
apis to fetch this firmware from user space.
- Function to dump VPDMA registers.
- A function to initialize and create a VPDMA instance, this will be
called by the VPE driver with it's platform device pointer, this
function will take care of loading VPDMA firmware and returning a
vpdma_data instance back to the VPE driver. The VIP driver will also
call the same init function to initialize it's own VPDMA instance.

This patch fixes regression introduced in commit 5c77879ff9
"[media] v4l2-dev: add new VFL_DIR_ defines" caused by not initializing
the vfl_dir field of the vfd_decoder instance of struct video_device,
after the field was introduced. It precluded calling the driver's ioctls
which require vfl_dir not to be equal to VFL_DIR_RX which is defined as
0 and uninitialized vfl_dir field is interpreted as such. In effect the
test in the v4l_s_fmt function failed for the ioctls that expect is_tx
to be false, which prevented the ioctl callbacks registered by the driver
from being called.

Smatch complains about the locking here because we mix spin_lock_irq()
with spin_lock_irqsave() in an unusual way. According to Smatch, it's
not always clear if the IRQs are enabled or disabled when we return. It
turns out this function is always called with IRQs enabled and we can
just use spin_lock_irq().
It's called from __enqueue_in_driver().

The 10-bit and 12-bit Bayer output formats supported by FIMC-LITE
actually use 16 bits where the extra bits are padded with zeros.
The patch corrects buffer allocation for these two formats by
modifying the depth field. This prevents memory corruption by the
output DMA due to insufficient buffer size.

Commit 1c1d86a1ea ("[media] v4l2: always require v4l2_dev,
rename parent to dev_parent") expects v4l2_dev to be always set.
It converted most of the drivers using the parent field of video_device
to v4l2_dev field. G2D driver did not set the parent field. Hence it got
left out. Without this patch we get the following boot warning and G2D
driver fails to register the video device.

The video encode/decode paths have duplicated logic between
VIDIOC_TRY_FMT and VIDIOC_S_FMT that should be de-duped. Also, video
decode reports V4L2_PIX_FMT_NV12MT_16X16 output format, regardless of
what the actual output has been set at. Fix this.

The VSPR and VSPS instances use two clocks, the VSP1 system clock and
the VSP1 realtime clock. Both of them need to be enabled to access the
VSP1 registers.
Add support for an optional RT clock and enable/disable it along with
the system clock.

__is_set_init_isp_aa and fimc_is_hw_set_tune currently do not have
any callers. However these functions may be used in the future. Hence
instead of deleting them, staticize and annotate them with __maybe_unused

Use clk_prepare_enable()/clk_disable_unprepare() instead of
separately prearing/unparing the clk_cam clocks. This simplifies
the code that is now mostly not going to be used, function
__fimc_md_set_camclk() is only left for S5PV210 platform which
is not yet converted to Device Tree.

If the same callbacks are used for runtime and system suspend/resume,
clocks can get disabled twice, which can lead to negative reference
counts and kernel warnings.
This patch splits suspend/resume callbacks into separate runtime and
system-wide functions, so clock gating is done correctly.

I2C of helpers used to live in of_i2c.c but experience (from SPI) shows
that it is much cleaner to have this in the core. This also removes a
circular dependency between the helpers and the core, and so we can
finally register child nodes in the core instead of doing this manually
in each driver. So, fix the drivers and documentation, too.

When gsc is in runtime suspended state, there is no need to call
m2m_suspend during suspend and similarly, there is no need to call
m2m_resume during resume if already in runtime suspended state. This
patch adds the necessary conditions to achieve this.

With synchronous subdevice probing regulators should be requested by the
soc-camera core in soc_camera_pdrv_probe(). Subdevice drivers, supporting
asynchronous probing, call soc_camera_power_init() to request regulators.
Erroneously, the same regulator array is used in the latter case as in
the former, which leads to a failure. This patch fixes it by preventing
the second regulator request from being executed.

Use the new blanking and frame size defines. This also fixed a bug in
these drivers: they assumed that the height for interlaced formats was
the field height, however height is the frame height. So the height
for a field is actually bt->height / 2.

Each source entity maintains a pointer to the counterpart sink
entity while an enabled link connects them. It should be managed by
the setup_link callback in the media controller framework at runtime.
However, enabled links which connect RPFs and WPFs that have an
equivalent index number are created during initialization.
This registers the pointer to a sink entity from the source entity
when an enabled link is created.

The VSP1 is a video processing engine that includes a blender, scalers,
filters and statistics computation. Configurable data path routing logic
allows ordering the internal blocks in a flexible way.
Due to the configurable nature of the pipeline the driver implements the
media controller API and doesn't use the V4L2 mem-to-mem framework, even
though the device usually operates in memory to memory mode.
Only the read pixel formatters, up/down scalers, write pixel formatters
and LCDC interface are supported at this stage.

of hardware specific controls and commands. So the hardware
specific opr_v6 and cmd_v6 are re-used for v7 also. This patch

The MFC v6 specific code holds good for MFC v7 also as
the v7 version is a superset of v6 and the HW interface
remains more or less similar. This patch renames the macro
IS_MFCV6() to IS_MFCV6_PLUS() so that it can be used
for v7 also.

This patch enables decoding of h.264 and mpeg4 streams on CODA7541.
Queued output buffers are immediately copied into the bitstream
ringbuffer. A device_run can be scheduled whenever there is either
enough compressed bitstream data, or the CODA is in stream end mode.
Each successful device_run, data is read from the bitstream ringbuffer
and a frame is decoded into a free internal framebuffer. Depending on
reordering, a possibly previously decoded frame is marked as display
frame, and at the same time the display frame from the previous run
is copied out into a capture buffer by the rotator hardware.
The dequeued capture buffers are counted to send the EOS signal to
userspace with the last frame. When userspace sends the decoder stop
command or enqueues an empty output buffer, the stream end flag is
set to allow decoding the remaining frames in the bitstream
ringbuffer.
The enum_fmt/try_fmt functions return fixed capture buffer sizes
while the output queue is streaming, to allow better autonegotiation
in userspace.
A per-context buffer mutex is used to lock the picture run against
buffer dequeueing: if a job gets queued, then streamoff dequeues
the last buffer, and then device_run is called, bail out. For that
the interrupt handler has to be threaded.

Add coda_prepare_encode() and coda_finish_encode() functions. They are called
from coda_device_run() and coda_irq_handler(), respectively, before and after
the hardware picture run. This should make the following decoder support patch
easier to read, which will add the coda_prepare/finish_decode() equivalents.

enum v4l2_async_bus_type also selects a method subdevs are matched
in the notification handlers, rename it to v4l2_async_match_type
so V4L2_ASYNC_MATCH_OF entry can be further added for matching by
device tree node pointer.

This patch adds the SOFx/EOFx pair check for marvell-ccic.
When switching format, the last EOF may not arrive when stop streamning.
And the EOF will be detected in the next start streaming.
Must ensure clear the left over frame flags before every really start streaming.

This patch splits the global workbuf into a global tempbuf and a per-context
workbuf, adds the codec mode aux register, and restores the work buffer
pointer on commands. With the new firmware, there is only a single set of
read/write pointers which need to be restored between context switches.
This allows more than four active contexts at the same time.
All auxiliary buffers are now allocated through a helper function to avoid
code duplication.

Commit 1c1d86a1ea ("[media] v4l2: always require v4l2_dev,
rename parent to dev_parent") expects v4l2_dev to be always set.
It converted most of the drivers using the parent field of video_device
to v4l2_dev field. G2D driver did not set the parent field. Hence it got
left out. Without this patch we get the following boot warning and G2D
driver fails to register the video device.

The video encode/decode paths have duplicated logic between
VIDIOC_TRY_FMT and VIDIOC_S_FMT that should be de-duped. Also, video
decode reports V4L2_PIX_FMT_NV12MT_16X16 output format, regardless of
what the actual output has been set at. Fix this.

These changes are all to SoC-specific code, a total of 33 branches on
17 platforms were pulled into this. Like last time, Renesas sh-mobile
is now the platform with the most changes, followed by OMAP and EXYNOS.
Two new platforms, TI Keystone and Rockchips RK3xxx are added in
this branch, both containing almost no platform specific code at all,
since they are using generic subsystem interfaces for clocks, pinctrl,
interrupts etc. The device drivers are getting merged through the
respective subsystem maintainer trees.
One more SoC (u300) is now multiplatform capable and several others
(shmobile, exynos, msm, integrator, kirkwood, clps711x) are moving
towards that goal with this series but need more work.
Also noteworthy is the work on PCI here, which is traditionally part of
the SoC specific code. With the changes done by Thomas Petazzoni, we can

FIMC-LITE subdevs have one sink pad and two source pads on which the image
formats are always same. This patch implements missing format propagation
from the sink pad to the source pads, to allow user space to negotiate TRY
format on whole media pipeline involving FIMC-LITE.n subdevs. The subdev
try_fmt helper is simplified.

This patch changes the firmware file names of the FIMC-IS subsystem.
It is needed since there are different firmwares used across various
SoC series, e.g. Exynos4 and Exynos5.
Also the sensor specific "setfile" name is changed, to account for
it depends on an image sensor and is also specific to the FIMC-IS
and the SoC.
This is a change for a driver merged in 3.10.

Add compatible property for the Exynos5250 and enable the frame start
and frame end interrupts. These interrupts are needed for the Exynos5
FIMC-IS firmware. The driver enables those interrupt only where available,
depending on the 'compatible' property. This can be optimized further,
by exposing some API at the subdev driver, so the host driver can enable
extra interrupts only for the image processing chains involving FIMC-IS.

This patch adds support for the Exynos5250 SoC variant of the FIMC-LITE
IP. A 'compatible' string is added for Exynos5250 compatible devices
and the capture DMA handling is reworked to use the FLITE_REG_CIFCNTSEQ
register, masking output DMA buffer address slots. The frame interrupt
is enabled so there are now 2 interrupts per frame. This likely can be
optimized in future by using any status registers that allow to figure
out what the last and the currently written frame buffer is. It would
also be more reliable in cases where there are high interrupt service
latencies.

The m2m-deinterlace, mem2mem_testdev and mx2_emmaprp drivers didn't set
the v4l2_dev pointer in struct video_device, even though a v4l2_device was
registered correctly. These days this v4l2_dev pointer must be set correctly,
so this patch adds that for these three drivers.

Several functions in the sh_mobile_ceu_camera driver implement generic
algorithms and can be re-used by other V4L2 camera host drivers too. These
functions attempt to optimise scaling and cropping functions of the
subdevice, e.g. a camera sensor. This patch makes those functions generic
for future re-use by other camera host drivers.
