01934c2a69 drm/fb-helper: Propagate errors from initial config failure
Make drm_fb_helper_initial_config() return an int rather than a bool so
that the error can be properly propagated. While at it, update drivers
to propagate errors further rather than just ignore them.

v2:
- cirrus: No cleanup is required, the top-level cirrus_driver_load()

ceae881bfa drm/radeon: Impl. new gtt allocate/free functions
This patch adds the implementation of the gtt interface functions.

The allocate function will allocate a single bo, pin and map it to kernel
memory. It will return the gpu address and cpu ptr as arguments.

v2:

The bulk of the allocations in the GART is for MQDs. MQDs represent active
user-mode queues, which are on the current runlist. It is important to
remember that active queues doesn't necessarily mean scheduled/running
queues, especially if there is over-subscription of queues or more than a
single HSA process.

Because the scheduling of the user-mode queues is done by the CP firmware,
amdkfd doesn't have any indication if the queue is scheduled or not. If the
CP will try to schedule a queue, and its MQD is not present, this will
probably stuck the CP permanently, as it will load garbage from the GART
(the address of the MQD is given to the CP inside the runlist packet).

In addition, there are a couple of small allocations which also should
always be pinned - runlist packets (2 packets) and HPDs. runlist packets can
be quite large, depending on number of processes and queues.

This new allocate function represents the short/mid-term solution of limiting
the total memory consumption to around 4MB by default.

The long-term solution is to create a mechanism through which radeon/ttm can
ask amdkfd to clear GART/VRAM memory due to memory pressure.
Then, amdkfd will preempt the running queues and wait until the memory pressure
is over. After that, amdkfd will reschedule the queues.

79305ec6e6 Merge tag 'amdkfd-fixes-2015-01-06' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~gabbayo/linux into drm-fixes
- Complete overhaul to the main IOCTL function, kfd_ioctl(), according to
drm_ioctl() example. This includes changing the IOCTL definitions, so it
breaks compatibility with previous versions of the userspace. However,
because the kernel was not officialy released yet, and this the first

dd5a74f2f9 drm/radeon: integer underflow in radeon_cp_dispatch_texture()

38c2adfb00 drm/radeon: Init amdkfd only if it was compiled
This patch changes the radeon_kfd_init(), which is used to initialize the
interface between radeon and amdkfd, so the interface will be initialized only
if amdkfd was build, either as module or inside the kernel image.

In the modules case, the symbol_request() will be used (same as old code). In
the in-image compilation case, a direct call to kgd2kfd_init() will be done.
For other cases, radeon_kfd_init() will just return false.

This patch is necessary because in case of the following specific
configuration: kernel 32-bit, no modules support, random kernel base and no
hibernation, the symbol_request() doesn't work as expected - it doesn't return
NULL if the symbol doesn't exists - which makes the kernel panic.

This patch adds an optional list_head parameter to ttm_eu_reserve_buffers.
If specified duplicates in the execbuf list are no longer reported as errors,
but moved to this list instead.

91ed6fd2c3 gpu/radeon: Set flag to indicate broken 64-bit MSI
Some radeon ASICs don't support all 64 address bits of MSIs despite
advertising support for 64-bit MSIs in their configuration space.

This breaks on systems such as IBM POWER7/8, where 64-bit MSIs can
be assigned with some of the high address bits set.

This makes use of the newly introduced "no_64bit_msi" flag in structure
pci_dev to allow the MSI allocation code to fallback to 32-bit MSIs
on those adapters.

355a701838 drm/gem: Warn on illegal use of the dumb buffer interface v2
It happens on occasion that developers of generic user-space applications
abuse the dumb buffer API to get hold of drm buffers that they can both
mmap() and use for GPU acceleration, using the assumptions that dumb buffers
and buffers available for GPU are
a) The same type and can be aribtrarily type-casted.
b) fully coherent.

This patch makes the most widely used drivers warn nicely when that happens,
the next step will be to fail.

edbaae5a5c Merge tag 'topic/vblank-rework-2014-09-12' of git://anongit.freedesktop.org/drm-intel into drm-next
So updated vblank-rework pull request, now with the polish that Mario
requested applied (and reviewed by him). Also with backmerge like you've
requested for easier merging.

The neat thing this finally allows is to immediately disable the vblank
interrupt on the last drm_vblank_put if the hardware has perfectly
accurate vblank counter and timestamp readout support. On i915 that
required piles of small adjustements from Ville since depending upon the
platform and port the vblank happens at different scanout lines.

Of course this is fully opt-in and per-device (we need that since gen2
doesn't have a hw vblank counter).

b440bde74f PCI: Add pci_ignore_hotplug() to ignore hotplug events for a device
Powering off a hot-pluggable device, e.g., with pci_set_power_state(D3cold),
normally generates a hot-remove event that unbinds the driver.

Some drivers expect to remain bound to a device even while they power it
off and back on again. This can be dangerous, because if the device is
removed or replaced while it is powered off, the driver doesn't know that
anything changed. But some drivers accept that risk.

Add pci_ignore_hotplug() for use by drivers that know their device cannot
be removed. Using pci_ignore_hotplug() tells the PCI core that hot-plug
events for the device should be ignored.

The radeon and nouveau drivers use this to switch between a low-power,
integrated GPU and a higher-power, higher-performance discrete GPU. They
power off the unused GPU, but they want to remain bound to it.

This is a reimplementation of f244d8b623 ("ACPIPHP / radeon / nouveau:
Fix VGA switcheroo problem related to hotplug") but extends it to work with
both acpiphp and pciehp.

This fixes a problem where systems with dual GPUs using the radeon drivers
become unusable, freezing every few seconds (see bugzillas below). The
resume of the radeon device may also fail, e.g.,

One step closer to dropping all the drm_bus_* code:
Add a driver->set_busid() callback and make all drivers use the generic

This patch moves to radeon the initialization of compute vmid.

That initializations was done in kfd-->kgd interface, but doing it in radeon

f72a113a71 drm/radeon: add userptr support v8
This patch adds an IOCTL for turning a pointer supplied by
userspace into a buffer object.

It imposes several restrictions upon the memory being mapped:

1. It must be page aligned (both start/end addresses, i.e ptr and size).

2. It must be normal system memory, not a pointer into another map of IO
space (e.g. it must not be a GTT mmapping of another object).

3. The BO is mapped into GTT, so the maximum amount of memory mapped at
all times is still the GTT limit.

4. The BO is only mapped readonly for now, so no write support.

5. List of backing pages is only acquired once, so they represent a
snapshot of the first use.

Exporting and sharing as well as mapping of buffer objects created by
this function is forbidden and results in an -EPERM.

v2: squash all previous changes into first public version
v3: fix tabs, map readonly, don't use MM callback any more
v4: set TTM_PAGE_FLAG_SG so that TTM never messes with the pages,
    pin/unpin pages on bind/unbind instead of populate/unpopulate
v5: rebased on 3.17-wip, IOCTL renamed to userptr, reject any unknown
flags, better handle READONLY flag, improve permission check
v6: fix ptr cast warning, use set_page_dirty/mark_page_accessed on unpin
v7: add warning about it's availability in the API definition

39dc5454e3 drm/radeon: Use pflip irqs for pageflip completion if possible. (v2)
Skip the "manual" pageflip completion checks via polling and
guessing in the vblank handler radeon_crtc_handle_vblank() on
asics which are known to reliably support hw pageflip completion
irqs. Those pflip irqs are a more reliable and race-free method
of handling pageflip completion detection, whereas the "classic"
polling method has some small races in combination with dpm on,
and with the reworked pageflip implementation since Linux 3.16.

On old asics without pflip irqs, the classic method is used.

On asics with known good pflip irqs, only pflip irqs are used
by default, but a new module parameter "use_pflipirqs" allows to
override this in case we encounter asics in the wild with
unreliable or faulty pflip irqs. A module parameter of 0 allows
to use the classic method only in such a case. A parameter of 1
allows to use both classic method and pflip irqs as additional
band-aid to avoid some small races which could happen with the
classic method alone. The setting 1 gives Linux 3.16 behaviour.

Hw pflip irqs are available since R600.

Tested on DCE-4, AMD Cedar - FirePro 2270.

v2: agd5f: only enable pflip interrupts on DCE4+ as they are not
reliable on older asics.

59bc1d89d6 drm/radeon: Inline r100_mm_rreg, -wreg, v3
This was originally un-inlined by Andi Kleen in 2011 citing size concerns.
Indeed, a first attempt at inlining it grew radeon.ko by 7%.

However, 2% of cpu is spent in this function. Simply inlining it gave 1% more fps
in Urban Terror.

v2: We know the minimum MMIO size. Adding it to the if allows the compiler to
optimize the branch out, improving both performance and size.

The v2 patch decreases radeon.ko size by 2%. I didn't re-benchmark, but common sense
says perf is now more than 1% better.

v3: Also change _wreg, make the threshold a define.

Inlining _wreg increased the size a bit compared to v2, so now radeon.ko
is only 1% smaller.

This is a halfway fix for hawaii acceleration. More fixes to come
but hopefully isolated to userspace.

We must mask out the overflow bit as well, otherwise
the wptr will never match the rptr again and the interrupt

5f87e090a7 drm/radeon: Make classic pageflip completion path less racy.
Need to protect mmio flip programming by event lock as well.

Need to also first enable pflip irq, then mmio program,
otherwise a flip completion may get unnoticed in the vblank
of actual completion if the flip is programmed, but
radeon_flip_work_func gets preempted immediately after
mmio programming and before vblank. In that case the
vblank irq handler wouldn't run radeon_crtc_handle_vblank()
with the completion check routine, miss the completed flip,
and only notice one vblank after actual completion, causing
a false/delayed report of flip completion.

f53f81b257 drm/radeon: Prevent too early kms-pageflips triggered by vblank.
Since 3.16-rc1 we have this new failure:

When the userspace XOrg ddx schedules vblank events to
trigger deferred kms-pageflips, e.g., via the OML_sync_control
extension call glXSwapBuffersMscOML(), or if a glXSwapBuffers()
is called immediately after completion of a previous swapbuffers
call, e.g., in a tight rendering loop with minimal rendering,
it happens frequently that the pageflip ioctl() is executed
within the same vblank in which a previous kms-pageflip completed,
or - for deferred swaps - always one vblank earlier than requested
by the client app.

This causes premature pageflips and detection of failure by
the ddx, e.g., XOrg log warnings like...

"(WW) RADEON(1): radeon_dri2_flip_event_handler: Pageflip
completion event has impossible msc 201025 < target_msc 201026"

... and error/invalid return values of glXWaitForSbcOML() and
Intel_swap_events extension.

Reason is the new way in which kms-pageflips are programmed
since 3.16.

This commit changes the time window in which the hw can
execute pending programmed pageflips. Before, a pending flip
would get executed anywhere within the vblank interval. Now
a pending flip only gets executed at the leading edge of
vblank (start of front porch), making sure that a invocation
of the pageflip ioctl() within a given vblank interval will
only lead to pageflip completion in the following vblank.

Tested to death on a DCE-4 card.

sets the backlight level to 0 after the driver has already
set the mode and enabled the backlight.

0ac66effe7 drm/radeon: avoid leaking edid data

If that happens, don't fetch the edid again in the get_modes()
