This patch only change the API and reject any use of flags. This is an
intermediate step that allows us to implement the flush flag operation
later, for each individual driver in a separate patch.
The plan is to implement flush operation via XDP_XMIT_FLUSH flag
and then remove XDP_XMIT_FLAGS_NONE when done.

Since the remaining bits are not filled in struct bpf_tunnel_key
resp. struct bpf_xfrm_state and originate from uninitialized stack
space, we should make sure to clear them before handing control
back to the program.
Also add a padding element to struct bpf_xfrm_state for future use
similar as we have in struct bpf_tunnel_key and clear it as well.

Add a new bpf_skb_cgroup_id() helper that allows to retrieve the
cgroup id from the skb's socket. This is useful in particular to
enable bpf_get_cgroup_classid()-like behavior for cgroup v1 in
cgroup v2 by allowing ID based matching on egress. This can in
particular be used in combination with applying policy e.g. from
map lookups, and also complements the older bpf_skb_under_cgroup()
interface. In user space the cgroup id for a given path can be
retrieved through the f_handle as demonstrated in [0] recently.

In the quest to remove all stack VLA usage from the kernel[1], this
allocates the maximum size expected for all possible types and adds
sanity-checks at both registration and usage to make sure nothing gets
out of sync. This matches the proposed VLA solution for nfnetlink[2]. The
values chosen here were based on finding assignments for .maxtype and
.slave_maxtype and manually counting the enums:

The failover module provides a generic interface for paravirtual drivers
to register a netdev and a set of ops with a failover instance. The ops
are used as event handlers that get called to handle netdev register/
unregister/link change/name change events on slave pci ethernet devices
with the same mac address as the failover netdev.
This enables paravirtual drivers to use a VF as an accelerated low latency
datapath. It also allows migration of VMs with direct attached VFs by
failing over to the paravirtual datapath when the VF is unplugged.

In addition to already existing BPF hooks for sys_bind and sys_connect,
the patch provides new hooks for sys_sendmsg.
It leverages existing BPF program type `BPF_PROG_TYPE_CGROUP_SOCK_ADDR`
that provides access to socket itlself (properties like family, type,
protocol) and user-passed `struct sockaddr *` so that BPF program can
override destination IP and port for system calls such as sendto(2) or
sendmsg(2) and/or assign source IP to the socket.
The hooks are implemented as two new attach types:
`BPF_CGROUP_UDP4_SENDMSG` and `BPF_CGROUP_UDP6_SENDMSG` for UDPv4 and
UDPv6 correspondingly.
UDPv4 and UDPv6 separate attach types for same reason as sys_bind and
sys_connect hooks, i.e. to prevent reading from / writing to e.g.
user_ip6 fields when user passes sockaddr_in since it'd be out-of-bound.
The difference with already existing hooks is sys_sendmsg are
implemented only for unconnected UDP.
For TCP it doesn't make sense to change user-provided `struct sockaddr *`
at sendto(2)/sendmsg(2) time since socket either was already connected
and has source/destination set or wasn't connected and call to
sendto(2)/sendmsg(2) would lead to ENOTCONN anyway.
Connected UDP is already handled by sys_connect hooks that can override
source/destination at connect time and use fast-path later, i.e. these
hooks don't affect UDP fast-path.
Rewriting source IP is implemented differently than that in sys_connect
hooks. When sys_sendmsg is used with unconnected UDP it doesn't work to
just bind socket to desired local IP address since source IP can be set
on per-packet basis by using ancillary data (cmsg(3)). So no matter if
socket is bound or not, source IP has to be rewritten on every call to
sys_sendmsg.
To do so two new fields are added to UAPI `struct bpf_sock_addr`;
* `msg_src_ip4` to set source IPv4 for UDPv4;
* `msg_src_ip6` to set source IPv6 for UDPv6.

This patch change the API for ndo_xdp_xmit to support bulking
xdp_frames.
When kernel is compiled with CONFIG_RETPOLINE, XDP sees a huge slowdown.
Most of the slowdown is caused by DMA API indirect function calls, but
also the net_device->ndo_xdp_xmit() call.
Benchmarked patch with CONFIG_RETPOLINE, using xdp_redirect_map with
single flow/core test (CPU E5-1650 v4 @ 3.60GHz), showed
performance improved:
for driver ixgbe: 6,042,682 pps -> 6,853,768 pps = +811,086 pps
for driver i40e : 6,187,169 pps -> 6,724,519 pps = +537,350 pps
With frames avail as a bulk inside the driver ndo_xdp_xmit call,
further optimizations are possible, like bulk DMA-mapping for TX.
Testing without CONFIG_RETPOLINE show the same performance for
physical NIC drivers.
The virtual NIC driver tun sees a huge performance boost, as it can
avoid doing per frame producer locking, but instead amortize the
locking cost over the bulk.

When sending an xdp_frame through xdp_do_redirect call, then error
cases can happen where the xdp_frame needs to be dropped, and
returning an -errno code isn't sufficient/possible any-longer
(e.g. for cpumap case). This is already fully supported, by simply
calling xdp_return_frame.
This patch is an optimization, which provides xdp_return_frame_rx_napi,
which is a faster variant for these error cases. It take advantage of
the protection provided by XDP RX running under NAPI protection.
This change is mostly relevant for drivers using the page_pool
allocator as it can take advantage of this. (Tested with mlx5).

This patch adds the End.BPF action to the LWT seg6local infrastructure.
This action works like any other seg6local End action, meaning that an IPv6
header with SRH is needed, whose DA has to be equal to the SID of the
action. It will also advance the SRH to the next segment, the BPF program
does not have to take care of this.
Since the BPF program may not be a source of instability in the kernel, it
is important to ensure that the integrity of the packet is maintained
before yielding it back to the IPv6 layer. The hook hence keeps track if
the SRH has been altered through the helpers, and re-validates its
content if needed with seg6_validate_srh. The state kept for validation is
stored in a per-CPU buffer. The BPF program is not allowed to directly
write into the packet, and only some fields of the SRH can be altered
through the helper bpf_lwt_seg6_store_bytes.
Performances profiling has shown that the SRH re-validation does not induce
a significant overhead. If the altered SRH is deemed as invalid, the packet
is dropped.
This validation is also done before executing any action through
bpf_lwt_seg6_action, and will not be performed again if the SRH is not
modified after calling the action.
The BPF program may return 3 types of return codes:
- BPF_OK: the End.BPF action will look up the next destination through
seg6_lookup_nexthop.
- BPF_REDIRECT: if an action has been executed through the
bpf_lwt_seg6_action helper, the BPF program should return this
value, as the skb's destination is already set and the default
lookup should not be performed.
- BPF_DROP : the packet will be dropped.

The new bpf_lwt_push_encap helper should only be accessible within the
LWT BPF IN hook, and not the OUT one, as this may lead to a skb under
panic.
At the moment, both LWT BPF IN and OUT share the same list of helpers,
whose calls are authorized by the verifier. This patch separates the
verifier ops for the IN and OUT hooks, and allows the IN hook to call the
bpf_lwt_push_encap helper.
This patch is also the occasion to put all lwt_*_func_proto functions
together for clarity. At the moment, socks_op_func_proto is in the middle
of lwt_inout_func_proto and lwt_xmit_func_proto.

The BPF seg6local hook should be powerful enough to enable users to
implement most of the use-cases one could think of. After some thinking,
we figured out that the following actions should be possible on a SRv6
packet, requiring 3 specific helpers :
- bpf_lwt_seg6_store_bytes: Modify non-sensitive fields of the SRH
- bpf_lwt_seg6_adjust_srh: Allow to grow or shrink a SRH
(to add/delete TLVs)
- bpf_lwt_seg6_action: Apply some SRv6 network programming actions
(specifically End.X, End.T, End.B6 and
End.B6.Encap)
The specifications of these helpers are provided in the patch (see
include/uapi/linux/bpf.h).
The non-sensitive fields of the SRH are the following : flags, tag and
TLVs. The other fields can not be modified, to maintain the SRH
integrity. Flags, tag and TLVs can easily be modified as their validity
can be checked afterwards via seg6_validate_srh. It is not allowed to
modify the segments directly. If one wants to add segments on the path,
he should stack a new SRH using the End.B6 action via
bpf_lwt_seg6_action.
Growing, shrinking or editing TLVs via the helpers will flag the SRH as
invalid, and it will have to be re-validated before re-entering the IPv6
layer. This flag is stored in a per-CPU buffer, along with the current
header length in bytes.
Storing the SRH len in bytes in the control block is mandatory when using
bpf_lwt_seg6_adjust_srh. The Header Ext. Length field contains the SRH
len rounded to 8 bytes (a padding TLV can be inserted to ensure the 8-bytes
boundary). When adding/deleting TLVs within the BPF program, the SRH may
temporary be in an invalid state where its length cannot be rounded to 8
bytes without remainder, hence the need to store the length in bytes
separately. The caller of the BPF program can then ensure that the SRH's
final length is valid using this value. Again, a final SRH modified by a
BPF program which doesn’t respect the 8-bytes boundary will be discarded
as it will be considered as invalid.
Finally, a fourth helper is provided, bpf_lwt_push_encap, which is
available from the LWT BPF IN hook, but not from the seg6local BPF one.
This helper allows to encapsulate a Segment Routing Header (either with
a new outer IPv6 header, or by inlining it directly in the existing IPv6
header) into a non-SRv6 packet. This helper is required if we want to
offer the possibility to dynamically encapsulate a SRH for non-SRv6 packet,
as the BPF seg6local hook only works on traffic already containing a SRH.
This is the BPF equivalent of the seg6 LWT infrastructure, which achieves
the same purpose but with a static SRH per route.
These helpers require CONFIG_IPV6=y (and not =m).

Changing switch mode may want to register and unregister devlink
ports. Therefore similarly to DEVLINK_CMD_PORT_SPLIT/UNSPLIT it
should not take the instance lock. Drivers don't depend on existing
locking since it's a very recent addition.

Add check that egress MTU can handle packet to be forwarded. If
the MTU is less than the packet length, return 0 meaning the
packet is expected to continue up the stack for help - eg.,
fragmenting the packet or sending an ICMP.
The XDP path needs to leverage the FIB entry for an MTU on the
route spec or an exception entry for a given destination. The
skb path lets is_skb_forwardable decide if the packet can be
sent.

S390 bpf_jit.S is removed in net-next and had changes in 'net',
since that code isn't used any more take the removal.
TLS data structures split the TX and RX components in 'net-next',
put the new struct members from the bug fix in 'net' into the RX
part.
The 'net-next' tree had some reworking of how the ERSPAN code works in
the GRE tunneling code, overlapping with a one-line headroom
calculation fix in 'net'.
Overlapping changes in __sock_map_ctx_update_elem(), keep the bits
that read the prog members via READ_ONCE() into local variables
before using them.

This patch extend attrs_set so the driver can say which flavour port
has. Initial flavours are:

Currently sk_msg programs only have access to the raw data. However,
it is often useful when building policies to have the policies specific
to the socket endpoint. This allows using the socket tuple as input
into filters, etc.

alone was used to index the CPUs map, this should be changed to also
factor in the traffic class mapping for the CPU-to-queue lookup.

The program itself which caused this had a long jump over the whole
instruction sequence where all of the inner instructions required
heavy expansions into multiple BPF instructions. Additionally, I also
had BPF hardening enabled which requires once more rewrites of all
constant values in order to blind them. Each time we rewrite insns,
bpf_adj_branches() would need to potentially adjust branch targets
which cross the patchlet boundary to accommodate for the additional
delta. Eventually that lead to the case where the target offset could
not fit into insn->off's upper 0x7fff limit anymore where then offset
wraps around becoming negative (in s16 universe), or vice versa
depending on the jump direction.
Therefore it becomes necessary to detect and reject any such occasions
in a generic way for native eBPF and cBPF to eBPF migrations. For
the latter we can simply check bounds in the bpf_convert_filter()'s
BPF_EMIT_JMP helper macro and bail out once we surpass limits. The
bpf_patch_insn_single() for native eBPF (and cBPF to eBPF in case
of subsequent hardening) is a bit more complex in that we need to
detect such truncations before hitting the bpf_prog_realloc(). Thus
the latter is split into an extra pass to probe problematic offsets
on the original program in order to fail early. With that in place
and carefully tested I no longer hit the panic and the rewrites are
rejected properly. The above example panic I've seen on bpf-next,
though the issue itself is generic in that a guard against this issue
in bpf seems more appropriate in this case.

1) Provide a new BPF helper for doing a FIB and neighbor lookup
in the kernel tables from an XDP or tc BPF program. The helper

2) Just a tiny diff but huge feature enabled for nfp driver by
extending the BPF offload beyond a pure host processing offload.
Offloaded XDP programs are allowed to set the RX queue index and
thus opening the door for defining a fully programmable RSS/n-tuple
filter replacement. Once BPF decided on a queue already, the device
data-path will skip the conventional RSS processing completely,

3) The original sockmap implementation was array based similar to
devmap. However unlike devmap where an ifindex has a 1:1 mapping
into the map there are use cases with sockets that need to be
referenced using longer keys. Hence, sockhash map is added reusing
as much of the sockmap code as possible, from John.
4) Introduce BTF ID. The ID is allocatd through an IDR similar as
with BPF maps and progs. It also makes BTF accessible to user
space via BPF_BTF_GET_FD_BY_ID and adds exposure of the BTF data
through BPF_OBJ_GET_INFO_BY_FD, from Martin.
5) Enable BPF stackmap with build_id also in NMI context. Due to the
up_read() of current->mm->mmap_sem build_id cannot be parsed.
This work defers the up_read() via a per-cpu irq_work so that
at least limited support can be enabled, from Song.
6) Various BPF JIT follow-up cleanups and fixups after the LD_ABS/LD_IND
JIT conversion as well as implementation of an optimized 32/64 bit
immediate load in the arm64 JIT that allows to reduce the number of
emitted instructions; in case of tested real-world programs they
were shrinking by three percent, from Daniel.
7) Add ifindex parameter to the libbpf loader in order to enable
BPF offload support. Right now only iproute2 can load offloaded
BPF and this will also enable libbpf for direct integration into
other applications, from David (Beckett).
8) Convert the plain text documentation under Documentation/bpf/ into
RST format since this is the appropriate standard the kernel is
moving to for all documentation. Also add an overview README.rst,
from Jesper.
9) Add __printf verification attribute to the bpf_verifier_vlog()
helper. Though it uses va_list we can still allow gcc to check
the format string, from Mathieu.
10) Fix a bash reference in the BPF selftest's Makefile. The '|& ...'
is a bash 4.0+ feature which is not guaranteed to be available
when calling out to shell, therefore use a more portable variant,
from Joe.
11) Fix a 64 bit division in xdp_umem_reg() by using div_u64()
instead of relying on the gcc built-in, from Björn.
12) Fix a sock hashmap kmalloc warning reported by syzbot when an
overly large key size is used in hashmap then causing overflows
in htab->elem_size. Reject bogus attr->key_size early in the
sock_hash_alloc(), from Yonghong.
13) Ensure in BPF selftests when urandom_read is being linked that
--build-id is always enabled so that test_stacktrace_build_id[_nmi]
won't be failing, from Alexei.
14) Add bitsperlong.h as well as errno.h uapi headers into the tools
header infrastructure which point to one of the arch specific
uapi headers. This was needed in order to fix a build error on
some systems for the BPF selftests, from Sirio.
15) Allow for short options to be used in the xdp_monitor BPF sample
code. And also a bpf.h tools uapi header sync in order to fix a
selftest build failure. Both from Prashant.
16) More formally clarify the meaning of ID in the direct packet access

Currently NOLOCK qdiscs pay a measurable overhead to atomically
manipulate the __QDISC_STATE_RUNNING. Such bit is flipped twice per
packet in the uncontended scenario with packet rate below the
line rate: on packed dequeue and on the next, failing dequeue attempt.
This changeset moves the bit manipulation into the qdisc_run_{begin,end}
helpers, so that the bit is now flipped only once per packet, with
measurable performance improvement in the uncontended scenario.
This also allows simplifying the qdisc teardown code path - since
qdisc_is_running() is now effective for each qdisc type - and avoid a
possible race between qdisc_run() and dev_deactivate_many(), as now
the some_qdisc_is_busy() can properly detect NOLOCK qdiscs being busy
dequeuing packets.

Sockmap is currently backed by an array and enforces keys to be
four bytes. This works well for many use cases and was originally
modeled after devmap which also uses four bytes keys. However,
this has become limiting in larger use cases where a hash would
be more appropriate. For example users may want to use the 5-tuple
of the socket as the lookup key.
To support this add hash support.

This patch only refactors the existing sockmap code. This will allow
much of the psock initialization code path and bpf helper codes to
work for both sockmap bpf map types that are backed by an array, the
currently supported type, and the new hash backed bpf map type
sockhash.
Most the fallout comes from three changes,
- Pushing bpf programs into an independent structure so we
can use it from the htab struct in the next patch.
- Generalizing helpers to use void *key instead of the hardcoded
u32.
- Instead of passing map/key through the metadata we now do
the lookup inline. This avoids storing the key in the metadata
which will be useful when keys can be longer than 4 bytes. We
rename the sk pointers to sk_redir at this point as well to
avoid any confusion between the current sk pointer and the
redirect pointer sk_redir.

Provide a helper for doing a FIB and neighbor lookup in the kernel
tables from an XDP program. The helper provides a fastpath for forwarding
packets. If the packet is a local delivery or for any reason is not a
simple lookup and forward, the packet continues up the stack.
If it is to be forwarded, the forwarding can be done directly if the
neighbor is already known. If the neighbor does not exist, the first
few packets go up the stack for neighbor resolution. Once resolved, the
xdp program provides the fast path.
On successful lookup the nexthop dmac, current device smac and egress
device index are returned.
The API supports IPv4, IPv6 and MPLS protocols, but only IPv4 and IPv6
are implemented in this patch. The API includes layer 4 parameters if
the XDP program chooses to do deep packet inspection to allow compare
against ACLs implemented as FIB rules.
Header rewrite is left to the XDP program.
The lookup takes 2 flags:
- BPF_FIB_LOOKUP_DIRECT to do a lookup that bypasses FIB rules and goes
straight to the table associated with the device (expert setting for
those looking to maximize throughput)
- BPF_FIB_LOOKUP_OUTPUT to do a lookup from the egress perspective.
Default is an ingress lookup.
Initial performance numbers collected by Jesper, forwarded packets/sec:

It's fairly easy for offloaded XDP programs to select the RX queue
packets go to. We need a way of expressing this in the software.
Allow write to the rx_queue_index field of struct xdp_md for
device-bound programs.
Skip convert_ctx_access callback entirely for offloads.

When the core networking needs to detect the transport offset in a given
packet and parse it explicitly, a full-blown flow_keys struct is used for
storage.
This patch introduces a smaller keys store, rework the basic flow dissect
helper to use it, and apply this new helper where possible - namely in
skb_probe_transport_header(). The used flow dissector data structures
are renamed to match more closely the new role.
The above gives ~50% performance improvement in micro benchmarking around
skb_probe_transport_header() and ~30% around eth_get_headlen(), mostly due
to the smaller memset. Small, but measurable improvement is measured also
in macro benchmarking.

These days the dma mapping routines must be able to handle any address
supported by the device, be that using an iommu, or swiotlb if none is
supported. With that the PCI_DMA_BUS_IS_PHYS check in illegal_highdma
is not needed and can be removed.

This adds a small BPF helper similar to bpf_skb_load_bytes() that
is able to load relative to mac/net header offset from the skb's
linear data. Compared to bpf_skb_load_bytes(), it takes a fifth
argument namely start_header, which is either BPF_HDR_START_MAC
or BPF_HDR_START_NET. This allows for a more flexible alternative
compared to LD_ABS/LD_IND with negative offset. It's enabled for
tc BPF programs as well as sock filter program types where it's
mainly useful in reuseport programs to ease access to lower header
data.

The main part of this work is to finally allow removal of LD_ABS
and LD_IND from the BPF core by reimplementing them through native
eBPF instead. Both LD_ABS/LD_IND were carried over from cBPF and
keeping them around in native eBPF caused way more trouble than
actually worth it. To just list some of the security issues in
the past:

For programs in native eBPF, LD_ABS/LD_IND are pretty much legacy
these days due to their limitations and more efficient/flexible
alternatives that have been developed over time such as direct
packet access. LD_ABS/LD_IND only cover 1/2/4 byte loads into a
register, the load happens in host endianness and its exception
handling can yield unexpected behavior. The latter is explained
in depth in f6b1b3bf0d ("bpf: fix subprog verifier bypass by
div/mod by 0 exception") with similar cases of exceptions we had.
In native eBPF more recent program types will disable LD_ABS/LD_IND
altogether through may_access_skb() in verifier, and given the
limitations in terms of exception handling, it's also disabled
in programs that use BPF to BPF calls.
In terms of cBPF, the LD_ABS/LD_IND is used in networking programs
to access packet data. It is not used in seccomp-BPF but programs
that use it for socket filtering or reuseport for demuxing with
cBPF. This is mostly relevant for applications that have not yet
migrated to native eBPF.
The main complexity and source of bugs in LD_ABS/LD_IND is coming
from their implementation in the various JITs. Most of them keep
the model around from cBPF times by implementing a fastpath written
in asm. They use typically two from the BPF program hidden CPU
registers for caching the skb's headlen (skb->len - skb->data_len)
and skb->data. Throughout the JIT phase this requires to keep track
whether LD_ABS/LD_IND are used and if so, the two registers need
to be recached each time a BPF helper would change the underlying
packet data in native eBPF case. At least in eBPF case, available
CPU registers are rare and the additional exit path out of the
asm written JIT helper makes it also inflexible since not all
parts of the JITer are in control from plain C. A LD_ABS/LD_IND
implementation in eBPF therefore allows to significantly reduce
the complexity in JITs with comparable performance results for
them, e.g.:

For cBPF we now track any usage of LD_ABS/LD_IND in bpf_convert_filter()
and cache the skb's headlen and data in the cBPF prologue. The
BPF_REG_TMP gets remapped from R8 to R2 since it's mainly just
used as a local temporary variable. This allows to shrink the
image on x86_64 also for seccomp programs slightly since mapping
to %rsi is not an ereg. In callee-saved R8 and R9 we now track
skb data and headlen, respectively. For normal prologue emission
in the JITs this does not add any extra instructions since R8, R9
are pushed to stack in any case from eBPF side. cBPF uses the
convert_bpf_ld_abs() emitter which probes the fast path inline
already and falls back to bpf_skb_load_helper_{8,16,32}() helper
relying on the cached skb data and headlen as well. R8 and R9
never need to be reloaded due to bpf_helper_changes_pkt_data()
since all skb access in cBPF is read-only. Then, for the case
of native eBPF, we use the bpf_gen_ld_abs() emitter, which calls
the bpf_skb_load_helper_{8,16,32}_no_cache() helper unconditionally,
does neither cache skb data and headlen nor has an inlined fast
path. The reason for the latter is that native eBPF does not have
any extra registers available anyway, but even if there were, it
avoids any reload of skb data and headlen in the first place.
Additionally, for the negative offsets, we provide an alternative
bpf_skb_load_bytes_relative() helper in eBPF which operates
similarly as bpf_skb_load_bytes() and allows for more flexibility.
Tested myself on x64, arm64, s390x, from Sandipan on ppc64.

Remove all eBPF tests involving LD_ABS/LD_IND from test_bpf.ko. Reason
is that the eBPF tests from test_bpf module do not go via BPF verifier
and therefore any instruction rewrites from verifier cannot take place.
Therefore, move them into test_verifier which runs out of user space,
so that verfier can rewrite LD_ABS/LD_IND internally in upcoming patches.
It will have the same effect since runtime tests are also performed from
there. This also allows to finally unexport bpf_skb_vlan_{push,pop}_proto
and keep it internal to core kernel.
Additionally, also add further cBPF LD_ABS/LD_IND test coverage into
test_bpf.ko suite.

Here the actual receive functions of AF_XDP are implemented, that in a
later commit, will be called from the XDP layers.
There's one set of functions for the XDP_DRV side and another for
XDP_SKB (generic).
A new XDP API, xdp_return_buff, is also introduced.
Adding xdp_return_buff, which is analogous to xdp_return_frame, but
acts upon an struct xdp_buff. The API will be used by AF_XDP in future
commits.
Support for the poll syscall is also implemented.
v2: xskq_validate_id did not update cons_tail.
The entries variable was calculated twice in xskq_nb_avail.

In ethtool_get_rxnfc(), the object "info" is firstly copied from
user-space. If the FLOW_RSS flag is set in the member field flow_type of
"info" (and cmd is ETHTOOL_GRXFH), info needs to be copied again from
user-space because FLOW_RSS is newer and has new definition, as mentioned
in the comment. However, given that the user data resides in user-space, a
malicious user can race to change the data after the first copy. By doing
so, the user can inject inconsistent data. For example, in the second
copy, the FLOW_RSS flag could be cleared in the field flow_type of "info".
In the following execution, "info" will be used in the function
ops->get_rxnfc(). Such inconsistent data can potentially lead to unexpected
information leakage since ops->get_rxnfc() will prepare various types of
data according to flow_type, and the prepared data will be eventually
copied to user-space. This inconsistent data may also cause undefined
behaviors based on how ops->get_rxnfc() is implemented.
This patch simply re-verifies the flow_type field of "info" after the
second copy. If the value is not as expected, an error code will be
returned.

With socket dependent offloads we rely on the netdev to transform
the transmitted packets before sending them to the wire.
When a packet from an offloaded socket is rerouted to a different
device we need to detect it and do the transformation in software.

exported. Exposing this function give more flexibility

We have about 53 netdev_features_t bits defined and counting, add a
build time check to catch when an u64 type will not be enough and we
will have to convert that to a bitmap. This is done in
register_netdevice() for convenience.

I am dropping the export of __skb_tx_hash as after my patches nobody is
using it outside of the net/core/dev.c file. In addition I am renaming and
repurposing it to just be a static declaration of skb_tx_hash since that
was the only user for it at this point. By doing this the compiler can
inline it into __netdev_pick_tx as that will improve performance.

Add a new callback: get_ethtool_phy_stats() which allows network device
drivers not making use of the PHY library to return PHY statistics.
Update ethtool_get_phy_stats(), __ethtool_get_sset_count() and
__ethtool_get_strings() accordingly to interogate the network device
about ETH_SS_PHY_STATS.

In order to make it possible for network device drivers that do not
necessarily have a phy_device attached, but still report PHY statistics,
have a preliminary refactoring consisting in creating helper functions
that encapsulate the PHY device driver knowledge within PHYLIB.

When bpf_adjust_tail was introduced for generic xdp, it changed skb's tail
pointer, so it was pointing to the new "end of the packet". However skb's
len field wasn't properly modified, so on the wire ethernet frame had
original (or even bigger, if adjust_head was used) size. This diff is
fixing this.

Implement generic segmentation offload support for udp datagrams. A
follow-up patch adds support to the protocol stack to generate such
packets.
UDP GSO is not UFO. UFO fragments a single large datagram. GSO splits
a large payload into a number of discrete UDP datagrams.
The implementation adds a GSO type SKB_UDP_GSO_L4 to differentiate it
from UFO (SKB_UDP_GSO).
IPPROTO_UDPLITE is excluded, as that protocol has no gso handler
registered.

This patch extends NTF_EXT_LEARNED support to the neighbour system.
Example use-case: An Ethernet VPN implementation (eg in FRR routing suite)
can use this flag to add dynamic reachable external neigh entires
learned via control plane. The use of neigh NTF_EXT_LEARNED in this
patch is consistent with its use with bridge and vxlan fdb entries.

The percpu metadata_dst might carry the stale ip_tunnel_info
and cause incorrect behavior. When mixing tests using ipv4/ipv6
bpf vxlan and geneve tunnel, the ipv6 tunnel info incorrectly uses
ipv4's src ip addr as its ipv6 src address, because the previous
tunnel info does not clean up. The patch zeros the fields in
ip_tunnel_info.

This commit introduces a helper which allows fetching xfrm state
parameters by eBPF programs attached to TC.
Prototype:
bpf_skb_get_xfrm_state(skb, index, xfrm_state, size, flags)
skb: pointer to skb
index: the index in the skb xfrm_state secpath array
xfrm_state: pointer to 'struct bpf_xfrm_state'
size: size of 'struct bpf_xfrm_state'
flags: reserved for future extensions
The helper returns 0 on success. Non zero if no xfrm state at the index
is found - or non exists at all.
struct bpf_xfrm_state currently includes the SPI, peer IPv4/IPv6
address and the reqid; it can be further extended by adding elements to
its end - indicating the populated fields by the 'size' argument -
keeping backwards compatibility.
Typical usage:

After working on IP defragmentation lately, I found that some large
packets defeat CHECKSUM_COMPLETE optimization because of NIC adding
zero paddings on the last (small) fragment.
While removing the padding with pskb_trim_rcsum(), we set skb->ip_summed
to CHECKSUM_NONE, forcing a full csum validation, even if all prior
fragments had CHECKSUM_COMPLETE set.
We can instead compute the checksum of the part we are trimming,
usually smaller than the part we keep.

Commit 6dfb970d3d ("xdp: avoid leaking info stored in frame data on
page reuse") tried to allow user/bpf_prog to (re)use area used by
xdp_frame (stored in frame headroom), by memset clearing area when
bpf_xdp_adjust_head give bpf_prog access to headroom area.
The mentioned commit had two bugs. (1) Didn't take bpf_xdp_adjust_meta
into account. (2) a combination of bpf_xdp_adjust_head calls, where
xdp->data is moved into xdp_frame section, can cause clearing
xdp_frame area again for area previously granted to bpf_prog.
After discussions with Daniel, we choose to implement a simpler
solution to the problem, which is to reserve the headroom used by
xdp_frame info.
This also avoids the situation where bpf_prog is allowed to adjust/add
headers, and then XDP_REDIRECT later drops the packet due to lack of
headroom for the xdp_frame. This would likely confuse the end-user.

This patch implement the 'Device Naming' feature of the Hyper-V
network device API. In Hyper-V on the host through the GUI or PowerShell
it is possible to enable the device naming feature which causes
the host to make available to the guest the name of the device.
This shows up in the RNDIS protocol as the friendly name.
The name has no particular meaning and is limited to 256 characters.
The value can only be set via PowerShell on the host, but could
be scripted for mass deployments. The default value is the
string 'Network Adapter' and since that is the same for all devices
and useless, the driver ignores it.
In Windows, the value goes into a registry key for use in SNMP
ifAlias. For Linux, this patch puts the value in the network
device alias property; where it is visible in ip tools and SNMP.
The host provided ifAlias is just a suggestion, and can be
overridden by later ip commands.
Also requires exporting dev_set_alias in netdev core.

Similar to IPv4, add fib metrics to the fib struct, which at the moment
is rt6_info. Will be moved to fib6_info in a later patch. Copy metrics
into dst by reference using refcount.
To make the transition:
- add dst_metrics to rt6_info. Default to dst_default_metrics if no
metrics are passed during route add. No need for a separate pmtu
entry; it can reference the MTU slot in fib6_metrics
- ip6_convert_metrics allocates memory in the FIB entry and uses
ip_metrics_convert to copy from netlink attribute to metrics entry
- the convert metrics call is done in ip6_route_info_create simplifying
the route add path
+ fib6_commit_metrics and fib6_copy_metrics and the temporary
mx6_config are no longer needed
- add fib6_metric_set helper to change the value of a metric in the
fib entry since dst_metric_set can no longer be used
- cow_metrics for IPv6 can drop to dst_cow_metrics_generic
- rt6_dst_from_metrics_check is no longer needed
- rt6_fill_node needs the FIB entry and dst as separate arguments to
keep compatibility with existing output. Current dst address is
renamed to dest.
(to be consistent with IPv4 rt6_fill_node really should be split
into 2 functions similar to fib_dump_info and rt_fill_info)
- rt6_fill_node no longer needs the temporary metrics variable

The bpf infrastructure and verifier goes to great length to avoid
bpf progs leaking kernel (pointer) info.
For queueing an xdp_buff via XDP_REDIRECT, xdp_frame info stores
kernel info (incl pointers) in top part of frame data (xdp->data_hard_start).
Checks are in place to assure enough headroom is available for this.
This info is not cleared, and if the frame is reused, then a
malicious user could use bpf_xdp_adjust_head helper to move
xdp->data into this area. Thus, making this area readable.
This is not super critical as XDP progs requires root or
CAP_SYS_ADMIN, which are privileged enough for such info. An
effort (is underway) towards moving networking bpf hooks to the
lesser privileged mode CAP_NET_ADMIN, where leaking such info
should be avoided. Thus, this patch to clear the info when
needed.

Changing API ndo_xdp_xmit to take a struct xdp_frame instead of struct
xdp_buff. This brings xdp_return_frame and ndp_xdp_xmit in sync.
This builds towards changing the API further to become a bulk API,
because xdp_buff is not a queue-able object while xdp_frame is.

Changing API xdp_return_frame() to take struct xdp_frame as argument,
seems like a natural choice. But there are some subtle performance
details here that needs extra care, which is a deliberate choice.
When de-referencing xdp_frame on a remote CPU during DMA-TX
completion, result in the cache-line is change to "Shared"
state. Later when the page is reused for RX, then this xdp_frame
cache-line is written, which change the state to "Modified".
This situation already happens (naturally) for, virtio_net, tun and
cpumap as the xdp_frame pointer is the queued object. In tun and
cpumap, the ptr_ring is used for efficiently transferring cache-lines
(with pointers) between CPUs. Thus, the only option is to
de-referencing xdp_frame.
It is only the ixgbe driver that had an optimization, in which it can
avoid doing the de-reference of xdp_frame. The driver already have
TX-ring queue, which (in case of remote DMA-TX completion) have to be
transferred between CPUs anyhow. In this data area, we stored a
struct xdp_mem_info and a data pointer, which allowed us to avoid
de-referencing xdp_frame.
To compensate for this, a prefetchw is used for telling the cache
coherency protocol about our access pattern. My benchmarks show that
this prefetchw is enough to compensate the ixgbe driver.

New allocator type MEM_TYPE_PAGE_POOL for page_pool usage.
The registered allocator page_pool pointer is not available directly
from xdp_rxq_info, but it could be (if needed). For now, the driver
should keep separate track of the page_pool pointer, which it should
use for RX-ring page allocation.
As suggested by Saeed, to maintain a symmetric API it is the drivers
responsibility to allocate/create and free/destroy the page_pool.
Thus, after the driver have called xdp_rxq_info_unreg(), it is drivers
responsibility to free the page_pool, but with a RCU free call. This
is done easily via the page_pool helper page_pool_destroy() (which
avoids touching any driver code during the RCU callback, which could
happen after the driver have been unloaded).

Need a fast page recycle mechanism for ndo_xdp_xmit API for returning
pages on DMA-TX completion time, which have good cross CPU
performance, given DMA-TX completion time can happen on a remote CPU.
Refurbish my page_pool code, that was presented[1] at MM-summit 2016.
Adapted page_pool code to not depend the page allocator and
integration into struct page. The DMA mapping feature is kept,
even-though it will not be activated/used in this patchset.

Use the IDA infrastructure for getting a cyclic increasing ID number,
that is used for keeping track of each registered allocator per
RX-queue xdp_rxq_info. Instead of using the IDR infrastructure, which
uses a radix tree, use a dynamic rhashtable, for creating ID to
pointer lookup table, because this is faster.
The problem that is being solved here is that, the xdp_rxq_info
pointer (stored in xdp_buff) cannot be used directly, as the
guaranteed lifetime is too short. The info is needed on a
(potentially) remote CPU during DMA-TX completion time . In an
xdp_frame the xdp_mem_info is stored, when it got converted from an
xdp_buff, which is sufficient for the simple page refcnt based recycle
schemes.
For more advanced allocators there is a need to store a pointer to the
registered allocator. Thus, there is a need to guard the lifetime or
validity of the allocator pointer, which is done through this
rhashtable ID map to pointer. The removal and validity of of the
allocator and helper struct xdp_mem_allocator is guarded by RCU. The
allocator will be created by the driver, and registered with
xdp_rxq_info_reg_mem_model().
It is up-to debate who is responsible for freeing the allocator
pointer or invoking the allocator destructor function. In any case,
this must happen via RCU freeing.
Use the IDA infrastructure for getting a cyclic increasing ID number,
that is used for keeping track of each registered allocator per
RX-queue xdp_rxq_info.

Applications might use SO_RCVLOWAT on TCP socket hoping to receive
one [E]POLLIN event only when a given amount of bytes are ready in socket
receive queue.
Problem is that receive autotuning is not aware of this constraint,
meaning sk_rcvbuf might be too small to allow all bytes to be stored.
Add a new (struct proto_ops)->set_rcvlowat method so that a protocol
can override the default setsockopt(SO_RCVLOWAT) behavior.

When coming from ndisc_netdev_event() in net/ipv6/ndisc.c,
neigh_ifdown() is called with &nd_tbl, locking this while
clearing the proxy neighbor entries when eg. deleting an
interface. Calling the table's pndisc_destructor() with the
lock still held, however, can cause a deadlock: When a
multicast listener is available an IGMP packet of type
ICMPV6_MGM_REDUCTION may be sent out. When reaching
ip6_finish_output2(), if no neighbor entry for the target
address is found, __neigh_create() is called with &nd_tbl,
which it'll want to lock.
Move the elements into their own list, then unlock the table
and perform the destruction.

This resolves race during initialization where the resources with
ops are registered before driver and the structures used by occ_get
op is initialized. So keep occ_get callbacks registered only when
all structs are initialized.

Currently <linux/slab.h> #includes <linux/kmemleak.h> for no obvious
reason. It looks like it's only a convenience, so remove kmemleak.h
from slab.h and add <linux/kmemleak.h> to any users of kmemleak_* that
don't already #include it. Also remove <linux/kmemleak.h> from source
files that do not use it.
This is tested on i386 allmodconfig and x86_64 allmodconfig. It would
be good to run it through the 0day bot for other $ARCHes. I have
neither the horsepower nor the storage space for the other $ARCHes.
Update: This patch has been extensively build-tested by both the 0day
bot & kisskb/ozlabs build farms. Both of them reported 2 build failures
for which patches are included here (in v2).
[ slab.h is the second most used header file after module.h; kernel.h is
right there with slab.h. There could be some minor error in the
counting due to some #includes having comments after them and I didn't
combine all of those. ]

programs. Support is added for both variants of sockmap programs,
meaning for tx ULP hooks as well as recv skb hooks, from John.

this work adds BPF map update and delete helper call support from
the datapath, JITing of 32 and 64 bit XADD instructions as well as
offload support of bpf_get_prandom_u32() call. Initial implementation

5) Removal of struct bpf_verifier_env argument from the print_bpf_insn()
API has been done in order to prepare to use print_bpf_insn() soon

as well with the print_bpf_insn() argument removal, from Jiri.
6) Couple of cleanups and prep work for the upcoming BTF (BPF Type

This function calls call_netdevice_notifier(), which also
may take net_rwsem. So, we can't use net_rwsem here.
This patch makes callers of this functions take pernet_ops_rwsem,
like register_netdevice_notifier() does. This will protect
the modifications of net_namespace_list, and allows notifiers
to take it (they won't have to care about context).
Since __rtnl_link_unregister() is used on module load
and unload (which are not frequent operations), this looks
for me better, than make all call_netdevice_notifier()
always executing in "protected net_namespace_list" context.
Also, this fixes the problem we had a deal in 328fbe747a
"Close race between {un, }register_netdevice_notifier and ...",
and guarantees __rtnl_link_unregister() does not skip
exitting net.

These functions take net_rwsem, while wireless_nlevent_flush()
also takes it. But down_read() can't be taken recursive,
because of rw_semaphore design, which prevents it to be occupied
by only readers forever.
Since we take pernet_ops_rwsem in {,un}register_netdevice_notifier(),
net list can't change, so these down_read()/up_read() can be removed.

"Post-hooks" are hooks that are called right before returning from
sys_bind. At this time IP and port are already allocated and no further
changes to `struct sock` can happen before returning from sys_bind but
BPF program has a chance to inspect the socket and change sys_bind
result.
Specifically it can e.g. inspect what port was allocated and if it
doesn't satisfy some policy, BPF program can force sys_bind to fail and
return EPERM to user.
Another example of usage is recording the IP:port pair to some map to
use it in later calls to sys_connect. E.g. if some TCP server inside
cgroup was bound to some IP:port_n, it can be recorded to a map. And
later when some TCP client inside same cgroup is trying to connect to
127.0.0.1:port_n, BPF hook for sys_connect can override the destination
and connect application to IP:port_n instead of 127.0.0.1:port_n. That
helps forcing all applications inside a cgroup to use desired IP and not
break those applications if they e.g. use localhost to communicate
between each other.
== Implementation details ==
Post-hooks are implemented as two new attach types
`BPF_CGROUP_INET4_POST_BIND` and `BPF_CGROUP_INET6_POST_BIND` for
existing prog type `BPF_PROG_TYPE_CGROUP_SOCK`.
Separate attach types for IPv4 and IPv6 are introduced to avoid access
to IPv6 field in `struct sock` from `inet_bind()` and to IPv4 field from
`inet6_bind()` since those fields might not make sense in such cases.

== The solution ==
The patch provides much more reliable in-kernel solution for the 2nd
part of the problem: making outgoing connecttion from desired IP.
It adds new attach types `BPF_CGROUP_INET4_CONNECT` and
`BPF_CGROUP_INET6_CONNECT` for program type
`BPF_PROG_TYPE_CGROUP_SOCK_ADDR` that can be used to override both
source and destination of a connection at connect(2) time.
Local end of connection can be bound to desired IP using newly
introduced BPF-helper `bpf_bind()`. It allows to bind to only IP though,
and doesn't support binding to port, i.e. leverages
`IP_BIND_ADDRESS_NO_PORT` socket option. There are two reasons for this:
* looking for a free port is expensive and can affect performance
significantly;
* there is no use-case for port.
As for remote end (`struct sockaddr *` passed by user), both parts of it
can be overridden, remote IP and remote port. It's useful if an
application inside cgroup wants to connect to another application inside
same cgroup or to itself, but knows nothing about IP assigned to the
cgroup.
Support is added for IPv4 and IPv6, for TCP and UDP.
IPv4 and IPv6 have separate attach types for same reason as sys_bind
hooks, i.e. to prevent reading from / writing to e.g. user_ip6 fields
when user passes sockaddr_in since it'd be out-of-bound.
== Implementation notes ==
The patch introduces new field in `struct proto`: `pre_connect` that is
a pointer to a function with same signature as `connect` but is called
before it. The reason is in some cases BPF hooks should be called way
before control is passed to `sk->sk_prot->connect`. Specifically
`inet_dgram_connect` autobinds socket before calling
`sk->sk_prot->connect` and there is no way to call `bpf_bind()` from
hooks from e.g. `ip4_datagram_connect` or `ip6_datagram_connect` since
it'd cause double-bind. On the other hand `proto.pre_connect` provides a
flexible way to add BPF hooks for connect only for necessary `proto` and
call them at desired time before `connect`. Since `bpf_bind()` is
allowed to bind only to IP and autobind in `inet_dgram_connect` binds
only port there is no chance of double-bind.
bpf_bind() sets `force_bind_address_no_port` to bind to only IP despite
of value of `bind_address_no_port` socket field.
bpf_bind() sets `with_lock` to `false` when calling to __inet_bind()
and __inet6_bind() since all call-sites, where bpf_bind() is called,
already hold socket lock.

== The problem ==
There is a use-case when all processes inside a cgroup should use one
single IP address on a host that has multiple IP configured. Those
processes should use the IP for both ingress and egress, for TCP and UDP
traffic. So TCP/UDP servers should be bound to that IP to accept
incoming connections on it, and TCP/UDP clients should make outgoing
connections from that IP. It should not require changing application
code since it's often not possible.
Currently it's solved by intercepting glibc wrappers around syscalls
such as `bind(2)` and `connect(2)`. It's done by a shared library that
is preloaded for every process in a cgroup so that whenever TCP/UDP
server calls `bind(2)`, the library replaces IP in sockaddr before
passing arguments to syscall. When application calls `connect(2)` the
library transparently binds the local end of connection to that IP
(`bind(2)` with `IP_BIND_ADDRESS_NO_PORT` to avoid performance penalty).
Shared library approach is fragile though, e.g.:
* some applications clear env vars (incl. `LD_PRELOAD`);
* `/etc/ld.so.preload` doesn't help since some applications are linked
with option `-z nodefaultlib`;
* other applications don't use glibc and there is nothing to intercept.
== The solution ==
The patch provides much more reliable in-kernel solution for the 1st
part of the problem: binding TCP/UDP servers on desired IP. It does not
depend on application environment and implementation details (whether
glibc is used or not).
It adds new eBPF program type `BPF_PROG_TYPE_CGROUP_SOCK_ADDR` and
attach types `BPF_CGROUP_INET4_BIND` and `BPF_CGROUP_INET6_BIND`
(similar to already existing `BPF_CGROUP_INET_SOCK_CREATE`).
The new program type is intended to be used with sockets (`struct sock`)
in a cgroup and provided by user `struct sockaddr`. Pointers to both of
them are parts of the context passed to programs of newly added types.
The new attach types provides hooks in `bind(2)` system call for both
IPv4 and IPv6 so that one can write a program to override IP addresses
and ports user program tries to bind to and apply such a program for
whole cgroup.
== Implementation notes ==

Separate attach types for `AF_INET` and `AF_INET6` are added
intentionally to prevent reading/writing to offsets that don't make
sense for corresponding socket family. E.g. if user passes `sockaddr_in`
it doesn't make sense to read from / write to `user_ip6[]` context
fields.

The write access to `struct bpf_sock_addr_kern` is implemented using
special field as an additional "register".
There are just two registers in `sock_addr_convert_ctx_access`: `src`
with value to write and `dst` with pointer to context that can't be
changed not to break later instructions. But the fields, allowed to
write to, are not available directly and to access them address of
corresponding pointer has to be loaded first. To get additional register
the 1st not used by `src` and `dst` one is taken, its content is saved
to `bpf_sock_addr_kern.tmp_reg`, then the register is used to load
address of pointer field, and finally the register's content is restored
from the temporary field after writing `src` value.

There are use-cases when a program of some type can be attached to
multiple attach points and those attach points must have different
permissions to access context or to call helpers.
E.g. context structure may have fields for both IPv4 and IPv6 but it
doesn't make sense to read from / write to IPv6 field when attach point
is somewhere in IPv4 stack.
Same applies to BPF-helpers: it may make sense to call some helper from
some attach point, but not from other for same prog type.
== The solution ==
Introduce `expected_attach_type` field in in `struct bpf_attr` for
`BPF_PROG_LOAD` command. If scenario described in "The problem" section
is the case for some prog type, the field will be checked twice:
1) At load time prog type is checked to see if attach type for it must
be known to validate program permissions correctly. Prog will be
rejected with EINVAL if it's the case and `expected_attach_type` is
not specified or has invalid value.
2) At attach time `attach_type` is compared with `expected_attach_type`,
if prog type requires to have one, and, if they differ, attach will
be rejected with EINVAL.
The `expected_attach_type` is now available as part of `struct bpf_prog`
in both `bpf_verifier_ops->is_valid_access()` and
`bpf_verifier_ops->get_func_proto()` () and can be used to check context
accesses and calls to helpers correspondingly.

{un,}register_netdevice_notifier() iterate over all net namespaces
hashed to net_namespace_list. But pernet_operations register and
unregister netdevices in unhashed net namespace, and they are not
seen for netdevice notifiers. This results in asymmetry:

This race is more danger, since dev_change_net_namespace() moves real
network devices, which use not trivial netdevice notifiers, and if this
will happen, the system will be left in unpredictable state.
The patch closes the race. During the testing I found two places,
where register_netdevice_notifier() is called from pernet init/exit
methods (which led to deadlock) and fixed them (see previous patches).
The review moved me to one more unusual registration place:
raw_init() (can driver). It may be a reason of problems,
if someone creates in-kernel CAN_RAW sockets, since they
will be destroyed in exit method and raw_release()
will call unregister_netdevice_notifier(). But grep over
kernel tree does not show, someone creates such sockets
from kernel space.
Theoretically, there can be more places like this, and which are
hidden from review, but we found them on the first bumping there
(since there is no a race, it will be 100% reproducible).

Provide a pointer to the SFP bus in struct net_device, so that the

NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_[CS]TAG_FILTER features require more than just a bit
flip in dev->features in order to keep the driver in a consistent state.
These features notify the driver of each added/removed vlan, but toggling
of vlan-filter does not notify the driver accordingly for each of the
existing vlans.
This patch implements a similar solution to NETIF_F_RX_UDP_TUNNEL_PORT
behavior (which notifies the driver about UDP ports in the same manner
that vids are reported).
Each toggling of the features propagates to the 8021q module, which
iterates over the vlans and call add/kill ndo accordingly.

so it should feel familiar.

Add support for the BPF_F_INGRESS flag in sk_msg redirect helper.
To do this add a scatterlist ring for receiving socks to check
before calling into regular recvmsg call path. Additionally, because
the poll wakeup logic only checked the skb recv queue we need to
add a hook in TCP stack (similar to write side) so that we have
a way to wake up polling socks when a scatterlist is redirected
to that sock.
After this all that is needed is for the redirect helper to
push the scatterlist into the psock receive queue.

Move call_fib_rule_notifiers up in fib_nl_newrule to the point right
before the rule is inserted into the list. At this point there are no
more failure paths within the core rule code, so if the notifier
does not fail then the rule will be inserted into the list.

Notifier handlers use notifier_from_errno to convert any potential error
to an encoded format. As a consequence the other side, call_fib_notifier{s}
in this case, needs to use notifier_to_errno to return the error from
the handler back to its caller.

rtnl_lock() is used everywhere, and contention is very high.
When someone wants to iterate over alive net namespaces,
he/she has no a possibility to do that without exclusive lock.
But the exclusive rtnl_lock() in such places is overkill,
and it just increases the contention. Yes, there is already
for_each_net_rcu() in kernel, but it requires rcu_read_lock(),
and this can't be sleepable. Also, sometimes it may be need
really prevent net_namespace_list growth, so for_each_net_rcu()
is not fit there.
This patch introduces new rw_semaphore, which will be used
instead of rtnl_mutex to protect net_namespace_list. It is
sleepable and allows not-exclusive iterations over net
namespaces list. It allows to stop using rtnl_lock()
in several places (what is made in next patches) and makes
less the time, we keep rtnl_mutex. Here we just add new lock,
while the explanation of we can remove rtnl_lock() there are
in next patches.
Fine grained locks generally are better, then one big lock,
so let's do that with net_namespace_list, while the situation
allows that.

In the event where the device unexpectedly becomes unresponsive
for a long period of time, flow control mechanism may propagate
pause frames which will cause congestion spreading to the entire
network.
To prevent this scenario, when the device is stalled for a period
longer than a pre-configured timeout, flow control mechanisms are
automatically disabled.
This patch adds support for the ETHTOOL_PFC_STALL_PREVENTION
as a tunable.
This API provides support for configuring flow control storm prevention
timeout (msec).

Last user is gone after bdf5bd7f21 "rds: tcp: remove
register_netdevice_notifier infrastructure.", so we can
remove this netdevice command. This allows to delete
rtnl_lock() in netdev_run_todo(), which is hot path for
net namespace unregistration.
dev_change_net_namespace() and netdev_wait_allrefs()
have rcu_barrier() before NETDEV_UNREGISTER_FINAL call,
and the source commits say they were introduced to
delemit the call with NETDEV_UNREGISTER, but this patch
leaves them on the places, since they require additional
analysis, whether we need in them for something else.

This patch is preparation to drop NETDEV_UNREGISTER_FINAL.
Since the cmd is used in usnic_ib_netdev_event_to_string()
to get cmd name, after plain removing NETDEV_UNREGISTER_FINAL
from everywhere, we'd have holes in event2str[] in this
function.
Instead of that, let's make NETDEV_XXX commands names
available for everyone, and to define netdev_cmd_to_name()
in the way we won't have to shaffle names after their
numbers are changed.

For the mac80211 stuff, these were fortunately just parallel
adds. Trivially resolved.
In drivers/net/phy/phy.c we had a bug fix in 'net' that moved the
function phy_disable_interrupts() earlier in the file, whilst in
'net-next' the phy_error() call from this function was removed.
In net/ipv4/xfrm4_policy.c, David Ahern's changes to remove the
'rt_table_id' member of rtable collided with a bug fix in 'net' that
added a new struct member "rt_mtu_locked" which needs to be copied
over here.
The mlxsw driver conflict consisted of net-next separating
the span code and definitions into separate files, whilst
a 'net' bug fix made some changes to that moved code.
The mlx5 infiniband conflict resolution was quite non-trivial,
the RDMA tree's merge commit was used as a guide here, and
here are their notes:

2) Improve address to symbol resolution of user stack traces in BPF stackmap.
Currently, the latter stores the address for each entry in the call trace,
however to map these addresses to user space files, it is necessary to
maintain the mapping from these virtual addresses to symbols in the binary
which is not practical for system-wide profiling. Instead, this option for
the stackmap rather stores the ELF build id and offset for the call trace
entries, from Song.
3) Add support that allows BPF programs attached to perf events to read the
address values recorded with the perf events. They are requested through
PERF_SAMPLE_ADDR via perf_event_open(). Main motivation behind it is to
support building memory or lock access profiling and tracing tools with
the help of BPF, from Teng.
4) Several improvements to the tools/bpf/ Makefiles. The 'make bpf' in the
tools directory does not provide the standard quiet output except for
bpftool and it also does not respect specifying a build output directory.
'make bpf_install' command neither respects specified destination nor
prefix, all from Jiri. In addition, Jakub fixes several other minor issues
in the Makefiles on top of that, e.g. fixing dependency paths, phony
targets and more.
5) Various doc updates e.g. add a comment for BPF fs about reserved names
to make the dentry lookup from there a bit more obvious, and a comment
to the bpf_devel_QA file in order to explain the diff between native
and bpf target clang usage with regards to pointer size, from Quentin
and Daniel.

Currently, if a bpf sk msg program is run the program
can only parse data that the (start,end) pointers already
consumed. For sendmsg hooks this is likely the first
scatterlist element. For sendpage this will be the range
(0,0) because the data is shared with userspace and by
default we want to avoid allowing userspace to modify
data while (or after) BPF verdict is being decided.
To support pulling in additional bytes for parsing use
a new helper bpf_sk_msg_pull(start, end, flags) which
works similar to cls tc logic. This helper will attempt
to point the data start pointer at 'start' bytes offest
into msg and data end pointer at 'end' bytes offset into
message.
After basic sanity checks to ensure 'start' <= 'end' and
'end' <= msg_length there are a few cases we need to
handle.
First the sendmsg hook has already copied the data from
userspace and has exclusive access to it. Therefor, it
is not necessesary to copy the data. However, it may
be required. After finding the scatterlist element with
'start' offset byte in it there are two cases. One the
range (start,end) is entirely contained in the sg element
and is already linear. All that is needed is to update the
data pointers, no allocate/copy is needed. The other case
is (start, end) crosses sg element boundaries. In this
case we allocate a block of size 'end - start' and copy
the data to linearize it.
Next sendpage hook has not copied any data in initial
state so that data pointers are (0,0). In this case we
handle it similar to the above sendmsg case except the
allocation/copy must always happen. Then when sending
the data we have possibly three memory regions that
need to be sent, (0, start - 1), (start, end), and
(end + 1, msg_length). This is required to ensure any
writes by the BPF program are correctly transmitted.
Lastly this operation will invalidate any previous
data checks so BPF programs will have to revalidate
pointers after making this BPF call.

In the case where we need a specific number of bytes before a
verdict can be assigned, even if the data spans multiple sendmsg
or sendfile calls. The BPF program may use msg_cork_bytes().
The extreme case is a user can call sendmsg repeatedly with
1-byte msg segments. Obviously, this is bad for performance but
is still valid. If the BPF program needs N bytes to validate
a header it can use msg_cork_bytes to specify N bytes and the
BPF program will not be called again until N bytes have been
accumulated. The infrastructure will attempt to coalesce data
if possible so in many cases (most my use cases at least) the
data will be in a single scatterlist element with data pointers
pointing to start/end of the element. However, this is dependent
on available memory so is not guaranteed. So BPF programs must
validate data pointer ranges, but this is the case anyways to
convince the verifier the accesses are valid.

A single sendmsg or sendfile system call can contain multiple logical
messages that a BPF program may want to read and apply a verdict. But,
without an apply_bytes helper any verdict on the data applies to all
bytes in the sendmsg/sendfile. Alternatively, a BPF program may only
care to read the first N bytes of a msg. If the payload is large say
MB or even GB setting up and calling the BPF program repeatedly for
all bytes, even though the verdict is already known, creates
unnecessary overhead.
To allow BPF programs to control how many bytes a given verdict
applies to we implement a bpf_msg_apply_bytes() helper. When called
from within a BPF program this sets a counter, internal to the
BPF infrastructure, that applies the last verdict to the next N
bytes. If the N is smaller than the current data being processed
from a sendmsg/sendfile call, the first N bytes will be sent and
the BPF program will be re-run with start_data pointing to the N+1
byte. If N is larger than the current data being processed the
BPF verdict will be applied to multiple sendmsg/sendfile calls
until N bytes are consumed.
Note1 if a socket closes with apply_bytes counter non-zero this
is not a problem because data is not being buffered for N bytes
and is sent as its received.

This implements a BPF ULP layer to allow policy enforcement and
monitoring at the socket layer. In order to support this a new
program type BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_MSG is used to run the policy at
the sendmsg/sendpage hook. To attach the policy to sockets a
sockmap is used with a new program attach type BPF_SK_MSG_VERDICT.
Similar to previous sockmap usages when a sock is added to a
sockmap, via a map update, if the map contains a BPF_SK_MSG_VERDICT
program type attached then the BPF ULP layer is created on the
socket and the attached BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_MSG program is run for
every msg in sendmsg case and page/offset in sendpage case.
BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_MSG Semantics/API:
BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_MSG supports only two return codes SK_PASS and
SK_DROP. Returning SK_DROP free's the copied data in the sendmsg
case and in the sendpage case leaves the data untouched. Both cases
return -EACESS to the user. Returning SK_PASS will allow the msg to
be sent.
In the sendmsg case data is copied into kernel space buffers before
running the BPF program. The kernel space buffers are stored in a
scatterlist object where each element is a kernel memory buffer.
Some effort is made to coalesce data from the sendmsg call here.
For example a sendmsg call with many one byte iov entries will
likely be pushed into a single entry. The BPF program is run with
data pointers (start/end) pointing to the first sg element.
In the sendpage case data is not copied. We opt not to copy the
data by default here, because the BPF infrastructure does not
know what bytes will be needed nor when they will be needed. So
copying all bytes may be wasteful. Because of this the initial
start/end data pointers are (0,0). Meaning no data can be read or
written. This avoids reading data that may be modified by the
user. A new helper is added later in this series if reading and
writing the data is needed. The helper call will do a copy by
default so that the page is exclusively owned by the BPF call.
The verdict from the BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_MSG applies to the entire msg
in the sendmsg() case and the entire page/offset in the sendpage case.
This avoids ambiguity on how to handle mixed return codes in the
sendmsg case. Again a helper is added later in the series if
a verdict needs to apply to multiple system calls and/or only
a subpart of the currently being processed message.
The helper msg_redirect_map() can be used to select the socket to
send the data on. This is used similar to existing redirect use
cases. This allows policy to redirect msgs.
Pseudo code simple example:
The basic logic to attach a program to a socket is as follows,

After the above any socket attached to "my_sock_map", in this case
'fd', will run the BPF msg verdict program (msg_prog) on every
sendmsg and sendpage system call.

Implementation notes:
It seemed the simplest, to me at least, to use a refcnt to ensure
psock is not lost across the sendmsg copy into the sg, the bpf program
running on the data in sg_data, and the final pass to the TCP stack.
Some performance testing may show a better method to do this and avoid
the refcnt cost, but for now use the simpler method.
Another item that will come after basic support is in place is
supporting MSG_MORE flag. At the moment we call sendpages even if
the MSG_MORE flag is set. An enhancement would be to collect the
pages into a larger scatterlist and pass down the stack. Notice that
bpf_tcp_sendmsg() could support this with some additional state saved
across sendmsg calls. I built the code to support this without having
to do refactoring work. Other features TBD include ZEROCOPY and the
TCP_RECV_QUEUE/TCP_NO_QUEUE support. This will follow initial series
shortly.
Future work could improve size limits on the scatterlist rings used
here. Currently, we use MAX_SKB_FRAGS simply because this was being
used already in the TLS case. Future work could extend the kernel sk
APIs to tune this depending on workload. This is a trade-off
between memory usage and throughput performance.

The current implementation of sk_alloc_sg expects scatterlist to always
start at entry 0 and complete at entry MAX_SKB_FRAGS.
Future patches will want to support starting at arbitrary offset into
scatterlist so add an additional sg_start parameters and then default
to the current values in TLS code paths.

The TLS ULP module builds scatterlists from a sock using
page_frag_refill(). This is going to be useful for other ULPs
so move it into sock file for more general use.

When errors are enqueued to the error queue via sock_queue_err_skb()
function, it is possible that the waiting application is not notified.
Calling 'sk->sk_data_ready()' would not notify applications that
selected only POLLERR events in poll() (for example).

rtnl_lock() is widely used mutex in kernel. Some of kernel code
does memory allocations under it. In case of memory deficit this
may invoke OOM killer, but the problem is a killed task can't
exit if it's waiting for the mutex. This may be a reason of deadlock

This patch adds a new primitive, which responds on SIGKILL, and
it allows to use it in the places, where we don't want to sleep
forever.

When we have a bridge with vlan_filtering on and a vlan device on top of
it, packets would be corrupted in skb_vlan_untag() called from
br_dev_xmit().
The problem sits in skb_reorder_vlan_header() used in skb_vlan_untag(),
which makes use of skb->mac_len. In this function mac_len is meant for
handling rx path with vlan devices with reorder_header disabled, but in
tx path mac_len is typically 0 and cannot be used, which is the problem
in this case.
The current code even does not properly handle rx path (skb_vlan_untag()
called from __netif_receive_skb_core()) with reorder_header off actually.
In rx path single tag case, it works as follows:

So, two of vlan tags are both removed while only inner one should be
removed and mac_header (and mac_len) is broken.
skb_vlan_untag() is meant for removing the vlan header at (skb->data - 2),
so use skb->data and skb->mac_header to calculate the right offset.

Andrei Vagin reported a KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds error in
skb_update_prio()
Since SYNACK might be attached to a request socket, we need to
get back to the listener socket.
Since this listener is manipulated without locks, add const
qualifiers to sock_cgroup_prioidx() so that the const can also
be used in skb_update_prio()
Also add the const qualifier to sock_cgroup_classid() for consistency.

Socket option SO_ZEROCOPY determines whether the kernel ignores or
processes flag MSG_ZEROCOPY on subsequent send calls. This to avoid
changing behavior for legacy processes.
Limiting the state change to closed sockets is annoying with passive
sockets and not necessary for correctness. Once created, zerocopy skbs
are processed based on their private state, not this socket flag.
Remove the constraint.

After the removal of the VLA, we get a harmless warning about a large
stack frame:

net/core/pktgen.c:1710:1: error: the frame size of 1076 bytes is larger than 1024 bytes [-Werror=frame-larger-than=]
The function was previously shown to be safe despite hitting
the 1024 bye warning level. To get rid of the annoyging warning,
while keeping it readable, this changes it to use strndup_user().
Obviously this is not a fast path, so the kmalloc() overhead
can be disregarded.

Now when using 'ss' in iproute, kernel would try to load all _diag
modules, which also causes corresponding family and proto modules
to be loaded as well due to module dependencies.
Like after running 'ss', sctp, dccp, af_packet (if it works as a module)
would be loaded.
For example:

As these family and proto modules are loaded unintentionally, it
could cause some problems, like:
- Some debug tools use 'ss' to collect the socket info, which loads all
those diag and family and protocol modules. It's noisy for identifying
issues.
- Users usually expect to drop sctp init packet silently when they
have no sense of sctp protocol instead of sending abort back.
- It wastes resources (especially with multiple netns), and SCTP module
can't be unloaded once it's loaded.
...
In short, it's really inappropriate to have these family and proto
modules loaded unexpectedly when just doing debugging with inet_diag.
This patch is to introduce sock_load_diag_module() where it loads
the _diag module only when it's corresponding family or proto has
been already registered.
Note that we can't just load _diag module without the family or
proto loaded, as some symbols used in _diag module are from the
family or proto module.

Some network devices - notably ipvlan slave - are not compatible with
any kind of rx_handler. Currently the hook can be installed but any
configuration (bridge, bond, macsec, ...) is nonfunctional.
This change allocates a priv_flag bit to mark such devices and explicitly
forbid installing a rx_handler if such bit is set. The new bit is used
by ipvlan slave device.

fallback tunnels (like tunl0, gre0, gretap0, erspan0, sit0,
ip6tnl0, ip6gre0) are automatically created when the corresponding
module is loaded.
These tunnels are also automatically created when a new network
namespace is created, at a great cost.
In many cases, netns are used for isolation purposes, and these
extra network devices are a waste of resources. We are using
thousands of netns per host, and hit the netns creation/delete
bottleneck a lot. (Many thanks to Kirill for recent work on this)
Add a new sysctl so that we can opt-out from this automatic creation.
Note that these tunnels are still created for the initial namespace,
to be the least intrusive for typical setups.

We use a two-step process to configure a filter with RSS spreading. First,
the RSS context is allocated and configured using ETHTOOL_SRSSH; this
returns an identifier (rss_context) which can then be passed to subsequent
invocations of ETHTOOL_SRXCLSRLINS to specify that the offset from the RSS
indirection table lookup should be added to the queue number (ring_cookie)
when delivering the packet. Drivers for devices which can only use the
indirection table entry directly (not add it to a base queue number)
should reject rule insertions combining RSS with a nonzero ring_cookie.

These pernet_operations create per-net pktgen threads
and /proc entries. These pernet subsys looks closed
in itself, and there are no pernet_operations outside
this file, which are interested in the threads.
Init and/or exit methods look safe to be executed
in parallel.

Starting with v4.16-rc1 we've been seeing a higher than usual number
of requests for the kernel to load networking modules, even on events
which shouldn't trigger a module load (e.g. ioctl(TCGETS)). Stephen
Smalley suggested the problem may lie in commit 44c02a2c3d
("dev_ioctl(): move copyin/copyout to callers") which moves changes
the network dev_ioctl() function to always call dev_load(),
regardless of the requested ioctl.
This patch moves the dev_load() calls back into the individual ioctls
while preserving the rest of the original patch.

The patch adds SLAB_ACCOUNT to flags of net_cachep cache,
which enables accounting of struct net memory to memcg kmem.
Since number of net_namespaces may be significant, user
want to know, how much there were consumed, and control.
Note, that we do not account net_generic to the same memcg,
where net was accounted, moreover, we don't do this at all (*).
We do not want the situation, when single memcg memory deficit
prevents us to register new pernet_operations.
(*)Even despite there is !current process accounting already
available in linux-next. See kmalloc_memcg() there for the details.

LRO and RX-FCS offloads cannot be enabled at the same time since it is
not clear what should happen to the FCS of each coalesced packet.
The FCS is not really part of the TCP payload, hence cannot be merged
into one big packet. On the other hand, providing one big LRO packet
with one FCS contradicts the RX-FCS feature goal.
Use the fix features mechanism in order to prevent intersection of the
features and drop LRO in case RX-FCS is requested.
Enabling RX-FCS while LRO is enabled will result in:

Currently GRE sequence number can only be used in native
tunnel mode. This patch adds sequence number support for
gre collect metadata mode. RFC2890 defines GRE sequence
number to be specific to the traffic flow identified by the
key. However, this patch does not implement per-key seqno.
The sequence number is shared in the same tunnel device.
That is, different tunnel keys using the same collect_md
tunnel share single sequence number.

They're very hard to use properly as they do not consider the
GSO_BY_FRAGS case. Code should use skb_gso_validate_network_len
and skb_gso_validate_mac_len as they do consider this case.

If you take a GSO skb, and split it into packets, will the network
length (L3 headers + L4 headers + payload) of those packets be small
enough to fit within a given MTU?
skb_gso_validate_mtu gives you the answer to that question. However,
we recently added to add a way to validate the MAC length of a split GSO
skb (L2+L3+L4+payload), and the names get confusing, so rename
skb_gso_validate_mtu to skb_gso_validate_network_len

SCTP GSO skbs have a gso_size of GSO_BY_FRAGS, so any sort of
unconditionally mangling of that will result in nonsense value
and would corrupt the skb later on.
Therefore, i) add two helpers skb_increase_gso_size() and
skb_decrease_gso_size() that would throw a one time warning and
bail out for such skbs and ii) refuse and return early with an
error in those BPF helpers that are affected. We do need to bail
out as early as possible from there before any changes on the
skb have been performed.

Setting an interface into a VRF fails with 'RTNETLINK answers: File
exists' if one of its VLAN interfaces is already in the same VRF.
As the VRF is an upper device of the VLAN interface, it is also showing
up as an upper device of the interface itself. The solution is to
restrict this check to devices other than master. As only one master
device can be linked to a device, the check in this case is that the
upper device (VRF) being linked to is not the same as the master device
instead of it not being any one of the upper devices.
The following example shows an interface ens12 (with a VLAN interface
ens12.10) being set into VRF green, which behaves as expected:

Current code uses global variables, adjusts them and passes pointer down
to devlink. With every other mlxsw_core instance, the previously passed
pointer values are rewritten. Fix this by de-globalize the variables and
also memcpy size_params during devlink resource registration.
Also, introduce a convenient size_param_init helper.

For ages iproute2 has used `struct rtmsg` as the ancillary header for
FIB rules and in the process set the protocol value to RTPROT_BOOT.
Until ca56209a66 ("net: Allow a rule to track originating protocol")
the kernel rules code ignored the protocol value sent from userspace
and always returned 0 in notifications. To avoid incompatibility with
existing iproute2, send the protocol as a new attribute.

pfifo_fast got percpu stats lately, uncovering a bug I introduced last
year in linux-4.10.
I missed the fact that we have to clear our temporary storage
before calling __gnet_stats_copy_basic() in the case of percpu stats.
Without this fix, rate estimators (tc qd replace dev xxx root est 1sec
4sec pfifo_fast) are utterly broken.

Allow a rule that is being added/deleted/modified or
dumped to contain the originating protocol's id.
The protocol is handled just like a routes originating
protocol is. This is especially useful because there
is starting to be a plethora of different user space
programs adding rules.
Allow the vrf device to specify that the kernel is the originator
of the rule created for this device.

Oleksandr Natalenko reported performance issues with BBR without FQ
packet scheduler that were root caused to lack of SG and GSO/TSO on
his configuration.
In this mode, TCP internal pacing has to setup a high resolution timer
for each MSS sent.
We could implement in TCP a strategy similar to the one adopted
in commit fefa569a9d ("net_sched: sch_fq: account for schedule/timers drifts")
or decide to finally switch TCP stack to a GSO only mode.
This has many benefits :
1) Most TCP developments are done with TSO in mind.
2) Less high-resolution timers needs to be armed for TCP-pacing
3) GSO can benefit of xmit_more hint
4) Receiver GRO is more effective (as if TSO was used for real on sender)
-> Lower ACK traffic
5) Write queues have less overhead (one skb holds about 64KB of payload)
6) SACK coalescing just works.
7) rtx rb-tree contains less packets, SACK is cheaper.
This patch implements the minimum patch, but we can remove some legacy
code as follow ups.
Tested:
On 40Gbit link, one netperf -t TCP_STREAM
BBR+fq:
sg on: 26 Gbits/sec
sg off: 15.7 Gbits/sec (was 2.3 Gbit before patch)
BBR+pfifo_fast:
sg on: 24.2 Gbits/sec
sg off: 14.9 Gbits/sec (was 0.66 Gbit before patch !!! )
BBR+fq_codel:
sg on: 24.4 Gbits/sec
sg off: 15 Gbits/sec (was 0.66 Gbit before patch !!! )

Currently the size validation is done via a cb, which is unneeded. The
size validation can be moved to core. The next patch will perform cleanup.

When llist_add() returns false, cleanup_net() hasn't made its
llist_del_all(), while the work has already been scheduled
by the first queuer. So, we may skip queue_work() in this case.

This simplifies cleanup queueing and makes cleanup lists
to use llist primitives. Since llist has its own cmpxchg()
ordering, cleanup_list_lock is not more need.
Also, struct llist_node is smaller, than struct list_head,
so we save some bytes in struct net with this patch.
