10dc62d0ae ARM: dts: droid4: Configure LED backlight for lm3532
With the LED backlight changes merged, we still need the dts configured
to have backlight working for droid4. Based on an earlier patch from
Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>, let's configure the backlight but update
the value range to be more usable.

We have a range of 256 register values split into 8 steps, so we can
generate the brightness levels backwards with:

$ for i in 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7; do echo "255 - ${i} * (256 / 8)" | bc; done

To avoid more confusion why the LCD backlight is still not on, let's
also enable LED backlight as a loadable module for omap2plus_defconfig.

All modules built from exynos_defconfig occupy about 55M, so enable
squashfs filesystem support and increase default ram block device size

3508aae9b5 ARM: configs: Cleanup old Kconfig options
CONFIG_MMC_BLOCK_BOUNCE is gone since commit c3dccb74be ("mmc: core:

CONFIG_LBDAF is gone since commit 72deb455b5 ("block: remove

CONFIG_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and CONFIG_IOSCHED_CFQ are gone since
commit f382fb0bce ("block: remove legacy IO schedulers").

The IOSCHED_DEADLINE was replaced by MQ_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and it will be
now enabled by default (along with MQ_IOSCHED_KYBER).

The IOSCHED_BFQ seems to replace IOSCHED_CFQ so select it in configs
previously choosing the latter.

CONFIG_CROSS_COMPILE is gone since commit f1089c92da ("kbuild: remove

19fd44d083 ARM: defconfig: gemini: Update defconfig
This updates the gemini defconfig with Kconfig shuffling and
some of the features activated in new upstream drivers and newly
supported devices:

- Move some symbols around due to Kconfig alterations,
  this affects CONFIG_PREEMPT, CONFIG_PCI, CONFIG_CMA,
  CONFIG_BINFMT_MISC, CONFIG_PARTITION_ADVANCED.
- Add RedBoot partition parsing, as all the Gemini
devices use some RedBoot derivative and store their
flash partition tables in this format.
- Enable bridge and VLAN filtering: a majority of the
Gemini devices have some kind of DSA chip for ethernet
  bridging/routing.
- Enable CONFIG_NET_DSA_REALTEK_SMI as this DSA router
chip is found in the Gemini-based products. This makes
  explicit selection of CONFIG_REALTEK_PHY unnecessary
  so that goes away.
- Enable CONFIG_TUN since Gemini userspace often make
use of the TUN interface for network services.
- Enable MARVELL_PHY as Marvell PHY connectors are often
  found in Gemini systems.
- Enable basic 802.11 libraries as many Gemini systems
  have wireless PCI cards.

Since commit 0e4a459f56 ("tracing: Remove unnecessary DEBUG_FS

booting Debian 9, as systemd needs debugfs:

See 'systemctl status sys-kernel-debug.mount' for details.
[DEPEND] Dependency failed for Local File Systems.

46db63abb7 ARM: imx_v6_v7_defconfig: Explicitly restore CONFIG_DEBUG_FS
This is currently off and that's not desirable: default imx config is
meant to be generally useful for development and debugging.

Running git bisect between v5.4 and v5.5-rc1 finds this started from
commit 0e4a459f56 ("tracing: Remove unnecessary DEBUG_FS dependency")

Explicit CONFIG_DEBUG_FS=y was earlier removed by
commit c29d541f59 ("ARM: imx_v6_v7_defconfig: Remove unneeded options")

9f9e2df2e6 ARM: exynos_defconfig: Bring back explicitly wanted options
Few options KALLSYMS_ALL, SCSI, PM_DEVFREQ and mutex/spinlock debugging
were removed with savedefconfig because they were selected by other
options. However these are user-visible options and they might not be
selected in the future. Exactly this happened with commit 0e4a459f56
("tracing: Remove unnecessary DEBUG_FS dependency") removing the
dependency between DEBUG_FS and TRACING.

To avoid losing these options in the future, explicitly mention them in

Pull sysctl system call removal from Eric Biederman:
"As far as I can tell we have reached the point where no one enables
the sysctl system call anymore. It still is enabled in a few
defconfigs but they are mostly the rarely used one and in asking
people about that it was more cut & paste enabled than anything else.

This is single commit that just deletes code. Leaving just enough code
so that the deprecated sysctl warning continues to be printed. If my
analysis turns out to be wrong and someone actually cares it will be
easy to revert this commit and have the system call again.

There was one new xtensa defconfig in linux-next that enabled the
system call this cycle and when asked about it the maintainer of the
code replied that it was not enabled on purpose. As of today's
linux-next tree that defconfig no longer enables the system call.

What we saw in the review discussion was that if we go a step farther
than my patch and mess with uapi headers there are pieces of code that
won't compile, but nothing minds the system call actually disappearing
  from the kernel"

Eric W. Biederman
61a47c1ad3 sysctl: Remove the sysctl system call
This system call has been deprecated almost since it was introduced, and
in a survey of the linux distributions I can no longer find any of them
that enable CONFIG_SYSCTL_SYSCALL. The only indication that I can find
that anyone might care is that a few of the defconfigs in the kernel
enable CONFIG_SYSCTL_SYSCALL. However this appears in only 31 of 414
defconfigs in the kernel, so I suspect this symbols presence is simply
because it is harmless to include rather than because it is necessary.

As there appear to be no users of the sysctl system call, remove the
code. As this removes one of the few uses of the internal kernel mount
of proc I hope this allows for even more simplifications of the proc
filesystem.

The reason why it is in staging is because it doesn't provide common V4L

our userspace (libvdpau-tegra) provides combined acceleration of decoding

b446bbfd3a Fixes for omaps for v5.4-rc cycle
More fixes for omap variants:

 - Update more panel options in omap2plus_defconfig that got changed
as we moved to use generic LCD panels

 - Remove unused twl_keypad for logicpd-torpedo-som to avoid boot
time warnings. This is only a cosmetic fix, but at least dmesg output
is now getting more readable after all the fixes to remove pointless
   warnings

 - Fix gpu_cm node name as we still have a non-standard node name
dependency for clocks. This should eventually get fixed by use
   of domain specific compatible property

 - Fix use of i2c-mux-idle-disconnect for m3874-iceboard

 - Use level interrupt for omap4 & 5 wlcore to avoid lost edge
   interrupts

Fixes for omaps for v5.4-rc cycle

More fixes for omap variants:

- Update more panel options in omap2plus_defconfig that got changed
as we moved to use generic LCD panels

- Remove unused twl_keypad for logicpd-torpedo-som to avoid boot
time warnings. This is only a cosmetic fix, but at least dmesg output
is now getting more readable after all the fixes to remove pointless
  warnings

- Fix gpu_cm node name as we still have a non-standard node name
dependency for clocks. This should eventually get fixed by use
  of domain specific compatible property

- Fix use of i2c-mux-idle-disconnect for m3874-iceboard

- Use level interrupt for omap4 & 5 wlcore to avoid lost edge
  interrupts

6c90bbd0a4 USB fixes for 5.4-rc3
Here are a lot of small USB driver fixes for 5.4-rc3.

syzbot has stepped up its testing of the USB driver stack, now able to
trigger fun race conditions between disconnect and probe functions.
Because of that we have a lot of fixes in here from Johan and others
fixing these reported issues that have been around since almost all
 time.

We also are just deleting the rio500 driver, making all of the syzbot
bugs found in it moot as it turns out no one has been using it for years
as there is a userspace version that is being used instead.

There are also a number of other small fixes in here, all resolving
 reported issues or regressions.

54e48a69c1 ARM: multi_v7_defconfig: Enable Exynos bus and memory frequency scaling (devfreq)
Enable devfreq events along with drivers for scaling frequency and
voltages of Exynos buses and Dynamic Memory Controller (DMC). This
usually brings energy saving benefits.

So far devfreq was disabled because it was causing hangs during system
reboot (voltage not matching reset frequency). This was already fixed.

Occasionally, devfreq might negatively impact performance of certain SoC
blocks, e.g. when a bus is scaled down but some block (like Mixer with
two Full HD windows) wants to perform high-throughput DMA operations.

Fixes for omap variants

Few fixes for ti-sysc interconnect target module driver for no-idle
quirks that caused nfsroot to fail on some dra7 boards.

And let's fixes to get LCD working again for logicpd board that got
broken a while back with removal of panel-dpi driver. We need to now
use generic CONFIG_DRM_PANEL_SIMPLE instead.

59d3ae9a5b ARM: remove Intel iop33x and iop13xx support
There are three families of IOP machines we support in Linux: iop32x
(which includes EP80219), iop33x and iop13xx (aka IOP34x aka WP8134x).

All products we support in the kernel are based on the first of these,
iop32x, the other families only ever supported the Intel reference
boards but no actual machine anyone could ever buy.

While one could clearly make them all three work in a single kernel
with some work, this takes the easy way out, removing the later two
platforms entirely, under the assumption that there are no remaining
users.

Earlier versions of OpenWRT and Debian both had support for iop32x
but not the others, and they both dropped iop32x as well in their 2015
releases.

f63cf88fd8 ARM: remove w90x900 platform
This removes the old Winbond w90x900 platform, also known
as Nuvoton NUC900. Wan Zongshun originally contributed
the port and maintained it since then.

From all I can tell, this platform is no longer being used
with modern kernels, based on various indications:

- The supported chips (nuc910/950/960) are no longer marketed
  by the manufacturer

- Newer chips from the same family (nuc97x, nuc980, n329x)
that are still marketed have Linux BSPs but those were never
  submitted for upstream inclusion.

- The last patch from the platform maintainer was in 2011.

- All patches to w90x900 platform specific files afterwards
are cleanups that were apparently done without access to
  test hardware.

- Both the website and the email address listed in the
  MAINTAINERS have become unreachable.

When I recently submitted cleanups, but Greg noted that the platform no
longer boots and nobody is using it any more, we decided to remove it.

24e44913aa ARM: SoC platform updates
SoC platform changes. Main theme this merge window:

  - The Netx platform (Netx 100/500) platform is removed by Linus Walleij--
the SoC doesn't have active maintainers with hardware, and in
discussions with the vendor the agreement was that it's OK to remove.

  - Russell King has a series of patches that cleans up and refactors
    SA1101 and RiscPC support.
