bca49d9a22 iwlwifi: mvm: pass force_assoc_off all the way down to avoid hacks
In some cases, we need to force the association to be off in the
MAC_CONTEXT_CMD command we send to the firmware. Instead of having to
hack the vif->bss_conf.assoc value, pass it all the way down the call
chain.

Additionally, for the iwl_mvm_mac_ctxt_add() case, we *always* set
forced_assoc_off to true, so we can remove the hack in the d3 code
that was forcing it to off by hacking the bss_conf.assoc value.

fa7b2e7fd0 iwlwifi: mvm: don't filter out the first beacon
Enabling beacon filtering should be done only after a beacon
has been received. Doing that too early will cause
disconnections.
This has already been fixed, but the fix didn't take care
about the case where the beacon is received after the
association, it waited only for association which is not
enough.

5344669989 iwlwifi: mvm: set the MAC_FILTER_IN_BEACON flag also for P2P
There doesn't seem to be a good reason for not enabling the

3b00772267 iwlwifi: mvm: update power after phy_ctxt is NULL when unassigning chanctx
iwl_mvm_power_update_mac() (more specifically

1504f48df4 iwlwifi: mvm: add uapsd_disable module parameter
Some APs (e.g. TP-LINK TL-WA801N) are disabling aggregation (downlink
to station) when U-APSD is enabled, resulting in low throughput.
Add a module parameter to allow disabling U-APSD support in the driver.

Also re-enable U-APSD for -9 firmware since the firmare issues were
fixed in this release.

There are devices that won't support U-APSD even with newer
firmware, so bring the TLV flag back to detect those.

d6aeb354f9 iwlwifi: mvm: revisit the NVM handling code
Fix a bug in nvm_read_section function if size of the section
is a multiple of 2K:

   - if the size of the section is *not* multiple of 2K,
   then we will have: read(2K) - return 2K ... read(2K) - return 2K
read(2K) - return the rest (in bytes) and exit the while loop.
   - else, if the size of the section is a multiple of 2K,
   then we have: read(2K) - return 2K read(2K) - return 2K read(2K) -
return 2K read(2K) - return 0 and exit the while with an error.

We should not return an error in the latter case, because it
might well be that the section was completely read.

Also, we try now to read all the sections as this is needed
for new devices.

7f715626a9 iwlwifi: use dev_printk instead of dev_dbg for debug logs
When calling IWL_DEBUG_*() dev_dbg() is currently used, and this
could result in the log being ignored no matter the internal
loglevel, since dev_dbg() may get turned on or off based on the
dynamic debug mechanism.

Replace the dev_dbg() with dev_printk() since dynamic printing
is pointless as we use our own debug level mechanism and there
is just a single dev_dbg() call in the code.

0534528ec3 iwlwifi: mvm: Disable uAPSD for a DCM client
A binding object associates virtual MACs to a Phy.
Binding object can ask (and get) air time, thus
allowing several MACs to share the medium.
A binding object can be in either one of 3 states:
1) standalone - A single active MAC
2) Different Channel Mode (DCM) - There are 2 active
MACs or more (not necessarily just clients), but each
   has its own channel.
3) Same Channel Mode (SCM) - There are 2 active
MACs or more (not necessarily just clients), that
   share the same channel.
This patch introduces an additional condition for enabling uAPSD:
uAPSD should be disabled for a client in DCM.
The reason for that is a low latency issue in Miracast.

049e0c330c iwlwifi: mvm: rs: choose correct expected tpt table
The expected throughput table used when estimating a new column
depends on the channel bandwidth. When switching from legacy to
siso or mimo the wrong expected throughput table was used as it
was chosen based on the the channel bandwidth in legacy which is
always 20Mhz. Instead it should be chosen based on the current sta
bandwidth which could be also 40Mhz or 80Mhz.
When enabling MCS9 this bug leads to a problem where the max
expected throughput of the siso or mimo column is 0 as MCS9 isn't
supported in 20Mhz. This in turns prevents switching to siso or mimo.

Fix this by using the sta bandwidth when deciding which table to choose.

e820c2da7e iwlwifi: mvm: Add support for Energy based scan (EBS)
This patch enables Energy Based Scan (EBS) - intended to detect energy
on 5 GHz band channels. Passive scan on this band takes up to 2.64 sec
assuming 110mSec per-channel * 24 channels. EBS is designed to detect
energy on channels with intensive Wifi activity as well as those where
only beacons are transmitted. EBS completes sampling all channels within
shortest beacon frame transmission time. Total EBS duration is about 100
msec (typical beacon interval).
Detecting Wifi activity on 5 GHz band channels can significantly reduce
scan duration thus saving time and power. EBS failure reported by FW
disables EBS for current connection. It is re-enabled upon new
connection attempt on any WLAN interface.

5d63f926d1 iwlwifi: pcie: clarify RX queue need_update handling and locking
When shadow registers are enabled, then need_update never needs
to be set, so move the need_update handling into the function
that really needs to do it (iwl_pcie_rxq_inc_wr_ptr) and also
separate the check when it woke up. While at it, convert it to
bool.

This also clarifies the locking and means the irq_lock needs to
no longer be held for any such updates.

The irq_lock also doesn't have to be held for restocking since
everything else locks the RX queue properly, so remove that and
finally disentangle the two locks entirely so there aren't any
dependencies between the two left.

f14d6b39c0 iwlwifi: pcie: implement GRO without NAPI
Use the new NAPI infrastructure added to mac80211 to get
GRO. We don't really implement NAPI since we don't have
a real poll function and we never schedule a NAPI poll.
Instead of this, we collect all the packets we got from a
single interrupt and then call napi_gro_flush().

This allows us to benefit from GRO. In half duplex medium
like WiFi, its main advantage is that it reduces the number
of TCP Acks, hence improving the TCP Rx performance.

Since we call the Rx path with a spinlock held, remove
the might_sleep mention from the op_mode's API.

A hardware bug had been discovered on 7260 / 3160 and 7265

workaround has been introduced for all NICs in a previous

In newer NICs, this bug is solved, so we can let the NIC go

198890258f iwlwifi: mvm: Handle power management constraints for additional use-cases
Today, the driver logic looks for the conditions to disable
power management albeit power management should be enabled
in a very few distinct cases.
This patch changes the driver logic to enable power
management once the required conditions met.
While at it, make some housekeeping and support a few
additional use cases:

a) Add support for a standalone p2p client:
Power management should be enabled for a P2P client
MAC only if the firmware supports it (TLV flag is set).
Instead we used the DCM flag, therefore we didn't cover
use cases that did not include the DCM flag.

b) Add support to Same-Channel-Mode (SCM):
If both clients share the same channel (SCM), and there
are no other active vifs in the system, power management
should be enabled only if the firmware supports this
   (TLV flag is set).

c) Fix power management logic for GO/AP:
Today, when we detect an active GO / AP MAC - we disable
power management for all the vifs altogether.
Actually, the correct behavior is to enable power
management on a client if on a different channel
   (based on the firmware capabilities).

d) Housekeeping - Along with that, this patch includes some
code-reorganizing: Today the logic of disabling power is
scattered across several functions, specifically in the
iterator. For the sake of both readability and
scalability, we moved this logic to its applicable
function, leaving the iterator gather information only.
Furthermore, as power management is a MAC-related
attribute, we moved the power management member to the
   iwl_mvm_vif structure.

a82dda6cd4 iwlwifi: mvm: disable uAPSD due to bugs in the firmware
The current firmware advertises support for uAPSD, but
critical bugs force us to disable the feature.
When a fixed firmware will be available, we will be able to
re-enable uAPSD.

50df8a3065 iwlwifi: mvm: configure low latency dependent scan parameters
In case of system low latency configure passive scan to be fragmented.
Set the following scan parameters for both immediate and scheduled scan:
 - passive scan fragment duration = 20ms
 - out-of-channel time = 70ms
 - suspend time = 105ms
Restructure channel's active/passive dwell time configuration to better
suit the above change.

The idea is that under low latency traffic passive scan is fragmented,
i.e. that dwell on a particular channel will be fragmented. Each
fragment dwell time is 20ms and fragments period is 105ms. Skipping to
next channel will be delayed by the same period (105ms). So suspend_time
parameter describing both fragments and channels skipping periods is set
to 105ms. This value is chosen so that overall passive scan duration
will not be too long. Max_out_time in this case is set to 70ms, so for
active scanning operating channel will be left for 70ms while for
passive still for 20ms (fragment dwell).

8a110d9be1 iwlwifi: mvm: restructure scan parameters calculation

Centralize conditions verification in one function and obtain

Rely on bound interfaces indication instead of association state

1bd3cbc1a0 iwlwifi: mvm: send udev event upon firmware error to dump logs
When the firmware asserts, the driver will dump the firmware
state to an internal buffer. This buffer is kept aside until
it is dumped through debugfs. Once an external application
fetched the data, the buffer is freed and a new buffer can
be allocated in case another assert occurs.

A udev event is sent to trigger an external application.

A simple rule like:
DRIVER=="iwlwifi", ACTION=="change", RUN+="/sbin/dump_sram.sh"

can fetch the data from debugfs.

Here is my dump_sram.sh:

b9fae2d54c iwlwifi: mvm: BT Coex add support for Co-running block
7265 features a new calibration which is called antenna
coupling. The purpose of this calibration (which isn't
really a calibration), is to measure the isolation between
the antennas and that can give us useful information for
the Coex modules.

With this information, we can tune the LookUpTables (LUTs)
that define the BT / WiFi contention policy.

The LUTs currently contain dummy values - but they will be
updated soon.

While at it, change the current code to stop duplicate the
host command while sending. This was needed back then, when
the command was short enough to be allocated on the stack.
Since then, the command grew a lot and is now allocated on
the heap - hence we can use the NOCOPY option instead.

a812cba9bb iwlwifi: pcie: enable LP XTAL to reduce power consumption
1. Enable LP XTAL to avoid HW bug where device may consume much
power if FW is not loaded after device reset. LP XTAL is
disabled by default after device HW reset. Configure device's
"persistence" mode to avoid resetting XTAL again when SHRD_HW_RST
occurs in S3.

2. Add methods to access SHR (shared block memory space) directly from PCI
bus w/o need to power up MAC HW.

Shared internal registers (e.g. SHR_APMG_GP1, SHR_APMG_XTAL_CFG)can be
accessed directly from PCI bus through SHR arbiter even when MAC HW is
powered down. This is possible due to indirect read/write via
HEEP_CTRL_WRD_PCIEX_CTRL (0xEC) and HEEP_CTRL_WRD_PCIEX_DATA (0xF4)
registers.

Use iwl_write32()/iwl_read32() family to access these registers. The MAC HW
need not be powered up so no "grab inc access" is required.

For example, to read from SHR_APMG_GP1 register (0x1DC),
first, write to the control register:
HEEP_CTRL_WRD_PCIEX_CTRL[15:0] = 0x1DC (offset of the SHR_APMG_GP1 register)
HEEP_CTRL_WRD_PCIEX_CTRL[29:28] = 2 (read access)
second, read from the data register HEEP_CTRL_WRD_PCIEX_DATA[31:0].

To write the register, first, write to the data register
HEEP_CTRL_WRD_PCIEX_DATA[31:0] and then:
HEEP_CTRL_WRD_PCIEX_CTRL[15:0] = 0x1DC (offset of the SHR_APMG_GP1 register)

a2978b1162 iwlwifi: mvm: prepare infrastructure for more TLV flags
We use the TLV flags as a handshake between the firmware
and the driver. These flags allow the firmware to advertise
its capabilities and API version.
Since we are running short of bits, we add a new

We make now the difference between API changes and the
capabilities. Both can have an index which allows to scale

ea73cbce4e nl80211: fix scheduled scan RSSI matchset attribute confusion
The scheduled scan matchsets were intended to be a list of filters,
with the found BSS having to pass at least one of them to be passed
to the host. When the RSSI attribute was added, however, this was
broken and currently wpa_supplicant adds that attribute in its own
matchset; however, it doesn't intend that to mean that anything
that passes the RSSI filter should be passed to the host, instead
it wants it to mean that everything needs to also have higher RSSI.

This is semantically problematic because we have a list of filters
like [ SSID1, SSID2, SSID3, RSSI ] with no real indication which
one should be OR'ed and which one AND'ed.

To fix this, move the RSSI filter attribute into each matchset. As
we need to stay backward compatible, treat a matchset with only the
RSSI attribute as a "default RSSI filter" for all other matchsets,
but only if there are other matchsets (an RSSI-only matchset by
itself is still desirable.)

To make driver implementation easier, keep a global min_rssi_thold
for the entire request as well. The only affected driver is ath6kl.

I found this when I looked into the code after Raja Mani submitted
a patch fixing the n_match_sets calculation to disregard the RSSI,
but that patch didn't address the semantic issue.

e5e7aa8e25 iwlwifi: mvm: refactor power code

take into account the firmware limitations.
These limitations state that we need to have a global

Even device power save (as opposed to vif power management)

98ee778306 iwlwifi: add very first D0i3 support
When the bus is in D0i3, we can't send regular commands to
the firmware. This means that we need to add a state to
remember what is our d0i3 state and make sure that only
d0i3 exit commands can be sent.
Add flags to CMD_ flags and transport status for this
purpose.

Commands with CMD_HIGH_PRIO set are queued at the head of
the command queue, behind other high priority commands.

Commands with CMD_SEND_IN_IDLE set can be sent while the
transport is idle (without taking rpm reference).

Commands with CMD_MAKE_TRANS_IDLE set indicate that command
completion should mark the transport as idle (and release
the bus).

Commands with CMD_WAKE_UP_TRANS set instruct the transport
to exit from idle when this command is completed.

The transport is marked as idle (STATUS_TRANS_IDLE) when
the FW enters D0i3 state. This bit is cleared when it
enters D0 state again.

Process only commands with CMD_SEND_IN_IDLE flag while the
transport is idle. Other enqueued commands will be
processed only later, right after exiting D0i3.

440c411d6a iwlwifi: add D0i3 references boiler plate
D0i3 is bus power saving feature. It involves the
firmware - the driver needs to send a list of commands
to the firmware before entering this state. Wake up from
d0i3 also requires a few commands to the firmware.

The trigger to enter D0i3 is an idle timeout that will be
implemented later and will most probably rely on RUNTIME_PM
infrastructure.

In order to prevent entrance to D0i3 in critical flows, we
implement here a reference infrastructure. When a ref is
taken, we can't enter D0i3.

PCIe does't support D0i3.
