c93f6092df drm: bridge: synopsys/dw-hdmi: Provide default configuration function for HDMI 2.0 PHY
Currently HDMI 2.0 PHYs do not have a default configuration function.

As *some* of the HDMI 2.0 PHYs have the same register layout as the 3D
PHYs we can provide the same default configuration function for both
and still let user overwrite this with custom configuration function
if needed.

If, for some reason, the PHY is custom or has a register different
register layout then custom configuration function *must* be provided
in order for the system to work correctly. As we prefer the pdata
provided configuration function over the internal one this change
will not make any impact in custom platforms.

7cc4ab225a drm/bridge: dw-hdmi: add better clock disable control
The video setup path aways sets the clock disable register to a specific

0c1f528cb1 drm: handle HDMI 2.0 VICs in AVI info-frames
HDMI 1.4b support the CEA video modes as per range of CEA-861-D (VIC 1-64).
For any other mode, the VIC filed in AVI infoframes should be 0.
HDMI 2.0 sinks, support video modes range as per CEA-861-F spec, which is
extended to (VIC 1-107).

This patch adds a bool input variable, which indicates if the connected
sink is a HDMI 2.0 sink or not. This will make sure that we don't pass a
HDMI 2.0 VIC to a HDMI 1.4 sink.

This patch touches all drm drivers, who are callers of this function
drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_from_display_mode but to make sure there is
no change in current behavior, is_hdmi2 is kept as false.

In case of I915 driver, this patch:
- checks if the connected display is HDMI 2.0.
- HDMI infoframes carry one of this two type of information:
	- VIC for 4K modes for HDMI 1.4 sinks
	- S3D information for S3D modes
  As CEA-861-F has already defined VICs for 4K videomodes, this
  patch doesn't allow sending HDMI infoframes for HDMI 2.0 sinks,
  until the mode is 3D.

7204e97685 drm: adv7511_audio: Add .get_dai_id callback to map port number to dai id
ALSA SoC needs to know connected DAI ID for probing. Using
the new audio-card-graph approach, ports/endpoints are used
to describe how the links are connected. Unfortunately, since
ports/endpoints are used as well for video linkages, there
are some issues mixing the port ids to the two (video and
audio) namespaces.

To solve this issue, this patch adds new .get_dai_id callback
on hdmi_codec_ops.

The will assume that HDMI audio out will be connected to
reg = <2>. This will then be remapped to the ALSA SoC side will
as DAI 0. Allowing the adv7511's hdmi audio support to be used
with the audio-card-graph.

57fbc05585 drm: dw-hdmi: gate audio clock from the I2S enablement callbacks
Currently, the audio sampler clock is enabled from dw_hdmi_setup() at
step E. and is kept enabled for later use. This clock should be enabled
and disabled along with the actual audio stream and not always on (that
is bad for PM). Furthermore, as described by the datasheet, the I2S
variant needs to gate/ungate the clock when the stream is
enabled/disabled.

This commit adds a parameter to hdmi_audio_enable_clk() that controls
when the audio sample clock must be enabled or disabled. Then, it adds
the call to this function from dw_hdmi_i2s_audio_enable() and
dw_hdmi_i2s_audio_disable().

a7d555d2f2 drm: dw-hdmi: add specific I2S and AHB functions for stream handling
Currently, CTS+N is forced to zero as a workaround of the IP block for
i.MX platforms. This is requested in the datasheet of the corresponding
IP for AHB mode only. However, we have seen that it introduces glitches
or delays when playing a sound on HDMI for I2S mode. This proves that we
cannot keep the current functions for handling audio stream as-is if
these contain workaround that are specific to a mode.

This commit introduces two callbacks, one for each variant.
dw_hdmi_setup defines the right function depending on the detected
variant. Then, the exported functions dw_hdmi_audio_enable and
dw_hdmi_audio_disable calls the corresponding callbacks

6ce2ca580f drm: dw-hdmi: Implement the mode_fixup drm helper
This helper is supposed to validate or reject the modeline before it
applied by the mode setting. Currently this function has been dropped,
it was previously set to a dummy function that always returned true. For
both cases, this means that userspace can ask for a bad modeline that
will be always accepted.

On some platforms, like Rockchip, the drm dw_hdmi-rockchip variant driver
already implements the atomic_check drm helper, so mode_fixup cannot be
handled and implemented there (as drm_atomic_helper relies on either
atomic_check or mode_fixup).

This commit implements this helper. It only checks that this mode is
correct from the connector point of view.

187697a454 drm: dw_hdmi: Don't rely on the status of the bridge for updating HPD
Currently, the irq handler that monitors changes for HPD and RX_SENSE
relies on the status of the bridge for updating the status of the HPD.
The update is done only when the bridge is enabled.

However, on Rockchip platforms we have found use cases where it could be
a problem. When HDMI is being used, turning off/on the screen or
unplugging/re-plugging the cable, the following simplified code path
will happen:

- dw_hdmi_irq() will be triggered by an HPD event, as the bridge is on
hdmi->disabled is false, then the handler will update the rxsense flag
accordingly.
- dw_hdmi_update_power() will be invoked with the mode
DRM_FORCE_UNSPECIFIED and rxsense == 1, so dw_hdmi_poweroff() will be
called and the PHY will be desactivated (its pixel clocks and TMDS)

[...]

- dw_hdmi_bridge_disable() will be invoked, the bridge will be marked as
disabled.

- dw_hdmi_irq() will be triggered by an HPD event, as the bridge is
currently disabled the HPD status won't be updated, so hdmi->rxsense
won't be changed. Even if the data part of the PHY is disabled, this
information coming from the HDMI Transmitter is correct and should be
saved.

[...]

- dw_hdmi_bridge_enable() will be invoked, the bridge will be marked as
enabled.
- dw_hdmi_update_power() will be called. When hdmi->force is equal to
DRM_FORCE_UNSPECIFIED the function will rely on hdmi->rxsense. If this
field has not been updated by the irq handler, it will be false and
DRM_FORCE_ON won't be put to hdmi->force.

Consequently, most of the time dw_hdmi_poweron() won't be called in this
use case, TMDS won't be re-enabled the PHY won't be re-initialized,
resulting in a "Signal not found".

This commit fixes the issue by removing the check for "!hdmi->disabled".
As already explained, even if the PHY is partially disabled, information
coming from HDMI Transmitter about HPD should be saved for a later use.

181e0ef092 drm: bridge: dw-hdmi: Fix the PHY power up sequence
When powering the PHY up we need to wait for the PLL to lock. This is
done by polling the TX_PHY_LOCK bit in the HDMI_PHY_STAT0 register
(interrupt-based wait could be implemented as well but is likely
overkill). The bit is asserted when the PLL locks, but the current code
incorrectly waits for the bit to be deasserted. Fix it, and while at it,
replace the udelay() with a sleep as the code never runs in
non-sleepable context.

To be consistent with the power down implementation move the poll loop
to the power off function.

b0e583e5b6 drm: bridge: dw-hdmi: Fix the PHY power down sequence
The PHY requires us to wait for the PHY to switch to low power mode
after deasserting TXPWRON and before asserting PDDQ in the power down
sequence, otherwise power down will fail.

The PHY power down can be monitored though the TX_READY bit, available
through I2C in the PHY registers, or the TX_PHY_LOCK bit, available
through the HDMI TX registers. As the two are equivalent, let's pick the
easier solution of polling the TX_PHY_LOCK bit.

The power down code is currently duplicated in multiple places. To avoid
spreading multiple calls to a TX_PHY_LOCK poll function, we have to
refactor the power down code and group it all in a single function.

Tests showed that one poll iteration was enough for TX_PHY_LOCK to
become low, without requiring any additional delay. Retrying the read
five times with a 1ms to 2ms delay between each attempt should thus be
more than enough.

The video processing pipeline on the second output on the GE B850v3:

Each bridge has a dedicated flash containing firmware for supporting the
custom design. The result is that in this design neither the STDP4028
nor the STDP2690 behave as the stock bridges would. The compatible
strings include the suffix "-ge-b850v3-fw" to make it clear that the
driver is for the bridges with the firmware which is specific for the GE
B850v3.

The driver is powerless to control the video processing pipeline, as the
two bridges behaves as a single one. The driver is only needed for
telling the host about EDID / HPD, and for giving the host powers to ack
interrupts.

This driver adds one i2c_device for each bridge, but only one
drm_bridge. This design allows the creation of a functional connector
that is capable of reading EDID from the STDP2690 while handling
interrupts on the STDP4028.

bf1722cab5 drm/bridge/sii8620: rewrite hdmi start sequence

3587c85667 drm/bridge: adv7511: Re-write the i2c address before EDID probing
I've found that by just turning the chip on and off via the
POWER_DOWN register, I end up getting i2c_transfer errors on
HiKey.

Investigating further, it turns out that some of the register
state in hardware is getting lost, as the device registers are
reset when the chip is powered down.

Thus this patch simply re-writes the i2c address to the
ADV7511_REG_EDID_I2C_ADDR register to ensure its properly set
before we try to read the EDID data.

4226d9b127 drm/bridge: adv7511: Reuse __adv7511_power_on/off() when probing EDID
Thus this patch changes the EDID probing logic so that we
re-use the __adv7511_power_on/off() calls instead of duplciating
logic.

This does change behavior slightly as it adds the HPD signal
pulse to the EDID probe path, but Archit has had a patch to
add HPD signal pulse to the EDID probe path before, so this
should address the cases where that helped. Another difference
is that regcache_mark_dirty() is also called in the power off
path once EDID is probed.

518cb7057a drm/bridge: adv7511: Use work_struct to defer hotplug handing to out of irq context
I was recently seeing issues with EDID probing, where
the logic to wait for the EDID read bit to be set by the
IRQ wasn't happening and the code would time out and fail.

Digging deeper, I found this was due to the fact that
IRQs were disabled as we were running in IRQ context from
the HPD signal.

Thus this patch changes the logic to handle the HPD signal
via a work_struct so we can be out of irq context.

54d72737b0 drm: bridge: dw-hdmi: Fix the name of the PHY reset macros
The PHY reset signal is controlled by bit PHYRSTZ in the MC_PHYRSTZ
register. The signal is active low on Gen1 PHYs and active high on Gen2
PHYs. The driver toggles the signal high then low, which is correct for
all currently supported platforms, but the register values macros are
incorrectly named. Replace them with a single macro named after the bit,
and add a comment to the source code to explain the behaviour.

The driver's behaviour isn't changed by this rename, the code will still
need to be fixed to support Gen1 PHYs.

0527e12e82 drm: bridge: dw-hdmi: Reject invalid product IDs
The DWC HDMI TX can be recognized by the two product identification
registers. If the registers don't read as expect the IP will be very
different than what the driver has been designed for, or will be
misconfigured in a way that makes it non-operational (invalid memory
address, incorrect clocks, ...). We should reject this situation with an
error.

While this isn't critical for proper operation with supported IPs at the
moment, the driver will soon gain automatic device-specific handling
based on runtime device identification. This change makes it easier to
implement that without having to default to a random guess in case the
device can't be identified.

While at it print a readable version number in the device identification
message instead of raw register values.

dc55ac3b52 drm/bridge: Add ti-tfp410 DVI transmitter driver
Add very basic ti-tfp410 DVI transmitter driver. The only feature
separating this from a completely dummy bridge is the EDID read
support trough DDC I2C. Even that functionality should be in a
separate generic connector driver. However, because of missing DRM
infrastructure support the connector is implemented within the bridge
driver. Some tfp410 HW specific features may be added later if needed,
because there is a set of registers behind i2c if it is connected.

This implementation is tested against my new tilcdc bridge support
and it works with BeagleBone DVI-D Cape Rev A3. A DT binding document
is also updated.

53c515befe drm/bridge: adv7511: Add Audio support
This patch adds support to Audio for both adv7511 and adv7533

This patch was originally from [1] by Lars-Peter Clausen <lars@metafoo.de>
and was adapted by Archit Taneja <architt@codeaurora.org> and
Srinivas Kandagatla <srinivas.kandagatla@linaro.org>.

Then I heavily reworked it to use the hdmi-codec driver. And also
folded in some audio packet initialization done by Andy Green
<andy.green@linaro.org>. So credit to them, but blame to me.

63926ba85f drm: bridge: dw-hdmi: add ASoC dependency
The newly added sound driver depends on SND_SOC_HDMI_CODEC, which in
turn only makes sense when ASoC is enabled, as shown by this warning:

warning: (DRM_MSM && DRM_STI && DRM_MEDIATEK_HDMI && DRM_I2C_NXP_TDA998X && DRM_DW_HDMI_I2S_AUDIO) selects SND_SOC_HDMI_CODEC which has unmet direct dependencies (SOUND && !M68K && !UML && SND && SND_SOC)

Since the audio driver is probably useless without the audio subsystem,
adding a dependency here seems the right solution.

19423ba710 drm/bridge: analogix_dp: return error if transfer none byte
Reference from drm_dp_aux description (about transfer):
Upon success, the implementation should return the number of payload bytes
that were transferred, or a negative error-code on failure. Helpers
propagate errors from the .transfer() function, with the exception of
the -EBUSY error, which causes a transaction to be retried. On a short,
helpers will return -EPROTO to make it simpler to check for failure.

The analogix_dp_transfer will return num_transferred, but if there is none
byte been transferred, the return value will be 0, which means success, we
should return error-code if transfer none byte.

for (retry = 0; retry < 32; retry++) {
	err = aux->transfer(aux, &msg);
	if (err < 0) {

f2600d08d4 drm/bridge: analogix_dp: Improve panel on time
In order to reduce the time required to turn on the panel, this patch
makes 2 assumptions:
1- In detect(): if there's a panel, we're connected.
2- In get_modes(): if there's a panel, let the panel driver decide if
   it should prepare/unprepare in order to get the modes.

The first is straightforward, and shouldn't need further explanation. The
second should eliminate the prepare/unprepare delays from get_modes() in
most cases, since panels generally hardcode their modes in the driver as
opposed to reading EDID. If a panel does need to read EDID, it should be
responsible for ensuring it's in a state in which it can.

3efc2fa3b7 drm: bridge/dw_hdmi: add dw hdmi i2c bus adapter support
The change adds support of internal HDMI I2C master controller, this
subdevice is used by default, if "ddc-i2c-bus" DT property is omitted.

The main purpose of this functionality is to support reading EDID from
an HDMI monitor on boards, which don't have an I2C bus connected to
DDC pins.

The current implementation does not support "I2C Master Interface
Extended Read Mode" to read data addressed by non-zero segment
pointer, this means that if EDID has more than 1 extension blocks,
EDID reading operation won't succeed, in my practice all tested HDMI
monitors have at maximum one extension block.

78fa479d70 drm/bridge: adv7533: Use internal timing generator
ADV7533 provides an internal timing generator for certain modes that it
can't use the DSI clock directly.

We've observed that HDMI is more stable with the internal timing
generator, especially if there are instabilities in the DSI clock source.
The data spec also seems to recommend the usage of the timing generator
for all modes.

However, on some platforms, it's reported that enabling the timing
generator causes instabilities with the HDMI output.

Create a DT parameter that lets a platform explicitly disable the timing
generator. The timing generator is enabled by default.

device using this host. Finally, attach this device to the DSI host.

Populate DT parameters (number of data lanes for now) that are required
for DSI RX to work correctly. Hardcode few other parameters (rgb,

2437e7cd88 drm/bridge: adv7533: Initial support for ADV7533
ADV7533 is a DSI to HDMI encoder chip. It is a derivative of ADV7511,
with additional blocks to translate input DSI data to parallel RGB
data. Besides the ADV7511 I2C register map, it has additional registers
that require to be configured to activate the DSI Rx block.

Create a new config that enables ADV7533 support. Use DT compatible
strings to populate the ADV7533 type enum. Add minimal register
configurations belonging to the DSI/CEC register map. Keep the ADV7533
code in a separate file.

f0bfcc22d9 drm/bridge: adv7511: Fix mutex deadlock when interrupts are disabled
When the adv7511 i2c client doesn't have an interrupt line, we observe a
deadlock on caused by trying to lock drm device's mode_config.mutex twice
in the same context.

Here is the sequence that causes it:

ioctl DRM_IOCTL_MODE_GETCONNECTOR from userspace
  drm_mode_getconnector (acquires mode_config mutex)
    connector->fill_modes()
    drm_helper_probe_single_connector_modes
      connector_funcs->get_modes
	adv7511_encoder_get_modes
	  adv7511_get_edid_block
	    adv7511_irq_process
	      drm_helper_hpd_irq_event (acquires mode_config mutex again)

In adv7511_irq_process, don't call drm_helper_hpd_irq_event when not
called from the interrupt handler. It doesn't serve any purpose there
anyway.

drm_i2c_slave_encoder. We can now move it to the bridge folder.

Create a separate folder since we already have a couple of files and
expect more when we support audio and ADV7533.

Rename the driver to adv7511_drv.c. This will come in handy later
when the driver module will need to be built from multiple object
files.

7608a9fb37 drm/bridge: analogix_dp: fix no drm hpd event when panel plug in
The enum value of DP_IRQ_TYPE_HP_CABLE_IN is zero, but driver only
send drm hp event when the irq_type and the enum value is true.

if (irq_type & DP_IRQ_TYPE_HP_CABLE_IN || ...)
	drm_helper_hpd_irq_event(dp->drm_dev);

So there would no drm hpd event when cable plug in, to fix that
just need to assign all hotplug enum with no-zero values.

c2a441fe8f drm/bridge: dw-hdmi: Use drm_atomic_helper_best_encoder()
We have a 1:1 relationship between connectors and encoders, which means
we can rely on the drm_atomic_helper_best_encoder() behavior.

We still have to explicitly assign ->best_encoder() to
drm_atomic_helper_best_encoder(), because the automated fallback to
drm_atomic_helper_best_encoder() when ->best_encoder() is NULL is only
available when the DRM device is using the atomic helpers, and this bridge
is compatible with non-atomic and atomic devices.

7b4b7a8db4 drm: bridge: analogix/dp: Fix the possible dead lock in bridge disable time
It may caused a dead lock if we flush the hpd work in bridge disable time.

The normal flow would like:
  IN --> DRM IOCTL
        1. Acquire crtc_ww_class_mutex (DRM IOCTL)
  IN --> analogix_dp_bridge
        2. Acquire hpd work lock (Flush hpd work)
        3. HPD work already in idle, no need to run the work function.
  OUT <-- analogix_dp_bridge
  OUT <-- DRM IOCTL

The dead lock flow would like:
  IN --> DRM IOCTL
        1. Acquire crtc_ww_class_mutex (DRM IOCTL)
  IN --> analogix_dp_bridge
        2. Acquire hpd work lock (Flush hpd work)
  IN --> analogix_dp_hotplug
  IN --> drm_helper_hpd_irq_event
        3. Acquire mode_config lock (This lock already have been acquired in previous step 1)
** Dead Lock Now **

It's wrong to flush the hpd work in bridge->disable time, I guess the
original code just want to ensure the delay work must be finish before
encoder disabled.

The flush work in bridge disable time is try to ensure the HPD event
won't be missed before display card disabled, actually we can take a
fast respond way(interrupt thread) to update DRM HPD event to fix the
delay update and possible dead lock.
