For high-res (8K) or HFR (4K120) displays, using uncompressed pixel formats like YCbCr444 would exceed the bandwidth of HDMI 2.0, so the "interesting" modes would be disabled, leaving only low-res or low framerate modes. This change lowers the pixel encoding to 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 if the max TMDS clock is exceeded. Verified that 8K30 and 4K120 are now available and working with a Samsung Q900R over an HDMI 2.0b link from a Radeon 5700. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
