Add two utilities to 1) write-protect and 2) clean all ptes pointing into a range of an address space. The utilities are intended to aid in tracking dirty pages (either driver-allocated system memory or pci device memory). The write-protect utility should be used in conjunction with page_mkwrite() and pfn_mkwrite() to trigger write page-faults on page accesses. Typically one would want to use this on sparse accesses into large memory regions. The clean utility should be used to utilize hardware dirtying functionality and avoid the overhead of page-faults, typically on large accesses into small memory regions. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
