All drivers that select MII also need to select NET_CORE because MII depends on it. This is a bit ridiculous because NET_CORE is just a menu option that doesn't enable any code by itself. There is also no need for it to be a visible option, since its users all select it. ---help---
If you have a network (Ethernet) card belonging to this class, say Y
and read the Ethernet-HOWTO, available from
<http://www.tldp.org/docs.html#howto>.
Note that the answer to this question doesn't directly affect the
kernel: saying N will just cause the configurator to skip all
the questions about Adaptec cards. If you say Y, you will be asked for
your specific card in the following questions.
if NET_VENDOR_ADAPTEC

---help---
Say Y here if you have an Adaptec Starfire (or DuraLAN) PCI network
adapter. The DuraLAN chip is used on the 64 bit PCI boards from
Adaptec e.g. the ANA-6922A. The older 32 bit boards use the tulip
driver.
To compile this driver as a module, choose M here: the module
will be called starfire. This is recommended.
