Add a configurable timeout mechanism to disable queue_if_no_path without assistance from userspace multipathd. This reimplements multipathd's no_path_retry mechanism in kernel space. This is motivated by the desire to prevent processes from hanging indefinitely waiting for IO in cases where multipathd might be unable to respond (after a failure or for whatever reason). Despite replicating userspace multipathd's policy configuration in kernel space, it is important to prevent IOs from hanging forever, waiting for userspace that may be incapable of behaving correctly. Use of the provided "queue_if_no_path_timeout_secs" dm-multipath module parameter is optional. This timeout mechanism is disabled by default (by being set to 0). Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
