The i2c-arb-gpio-challenge driver implements an I2C arbitration scheme where masters need to claim the bus with a GPIO before they can start a transaction. This should generally only be used when standard I2C multimaster isn't appropriate for some reason (errata/bugs). This driver is based on code that Simon Glass added to the i2c-s3c2410 driver in the Chrome OS kernel 3.4 tree. The current incarnation as a mux driver is as suggested by Grant Likely. See <https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1877311/> for some history. If you say yes to this option, support will be included for an
I2C multimaster arbitration scheme using GPIOs and a challenge &
response mechanism where masters have to claim the bus by asserting
a GPIO.

This driver can also be built as a module. If so, the module
will be called i2c-arb-gpio-challenge.

If you say yes to this option, support will be included for a

I2C busses connected through a MUX, which is controlled

through GPIO pins.

If you say yes to this option, support will be included for an I2C
multiplexer that uses the pinctrl subsystem, i.e. pin multiplexing.
This is useful for SoCs whose I2C module's signals can be routed to
different sets of pins at run-time.

This driver can also be built as a module. If so, the module will be

called pinctrl-i2cmux.
