The sched_setattr() syscall mandates that a policy is always specified. This requires to always know which policy a task will have when attributes are configured and this makes it impossible to add more generic task attributes valid across different scheduling policies. Reading the policy before setting generic tasks attributes is racy since we cannot be sure it is not changed concurrently. Introduce the required support to change generic task attributes without affecting the current task policy. This is done by adding an attribute flag (SCHED_FLAG_KEEP_POLICY) to enforce the usage of the current policy. Add support for the SETPARAM_POLICY policy, which is already used by the sched_setparam() POSIX syscall, to the sched_setattr() non-POSIX syscall. Linux kernel

There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
