1daaae8fa4 cifs: fix issue mounting of DFS ROOT when redirecting from one domain controller to the next
This patch fixes an issue when cifs_mount receives a
STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME error during cifs_get_tcon but is able to
continue after an DFS ROOT referral. In this case, the return code
variable is not reset prior to trying to mount from the system referred
to. Thus, is_path_accessible is not executed and the final DFS referral
is not performed causing a mount error.

Use case: In DNS, example.com resolves to the secondary AD server
ad2.example.com Our primary domain controller is ad1.example.com and has
a DFS redirection set up from \\ad1\share\Users to \\files\share\Users.
Mounting \\example.com\share\Users fails.

Regression introduced by commit 724d9f1.

5bccda0ebc cifs: fix dentry refcount leak when opening a FIFO on lookup
The cifs code will attempt to open files on lookup under certain
circumstances. What happens though if we find that the file we opened
was actually a FIFO or other special file?

Currently, the open filehandle just ends up being leaked leading to
a dentry refcount mismatch and oops on umount. Fix this by having the
code close the filehandle on the server if it turns out not to be a
regular file. While we're at it, change this spaghetti if statement
into a switch too.

6de2ce4231 CIFS: Fix mkdir/rmdir bug for the non-POSIX case
Currently we do inc/drop_nlink for a parent directory for every
mkdir/rmdir calls. That's wrong when Unix extensions are disabled
because in this case a server doesn't follow the same semantic and
returns the old value on the next QueryInfo request. As the result,
we update our value with the server one and then decrement it on
every rmdir call - go to negative nlink values.

Fix this by removing inc/drop_nlink for the parent directory from
mkdir/rmdir, setting it for a revalidation and ignoring NumberOfLinks
for directories when Unix extensions are disabled.

ff4fa4a25a cifs: don't return error from standard_receive3 after marking response malformed
standard_receive3 will check the validity of the response from the
server (via checkSMB). It'll pass the result of that check to handle_mid
which will dequeue it and mark it with a status of
MID_RESPONSE_MALFORMED if checkSMB returned an error. At that point,
standard_receive3 will also return an error, which will make the
demultiplex thread skip doing the callback for the mid.

This is wrong -- if we were able to identify the request and the
response is marked malformed, then we want the demultiplex thread to do
the callback. Fix this by making standard_receive3 return 0 in this
situation.

700920eb5b KEYS: Allow special keyrings to be cleared
The kernel contains some special internal keyrings, for instance the DNS
resolver keyring :

2a93faf1 I----- 1 perm 1f030000 0 0 keyring .dns_resolver: empty

It would occasionally be useful to allow the contents of such keyrings to be
flushed by root (cache invalidation).

Allow a flag to be set on a keyring to mark that someone possessing the
sysadmin capability can clear the keyring, even without normal write access to
the keyring.

Set this flag on the special keyrings created by the DNS resolver, the NFS
identity mapper and the CIFS identity mapper.

8a8798a5ff cifs: fetch credentials out of keyring for non-krb5 auth multiuser mounts

then scrape the username and password out of the key payload and use
that to create a new user session.

7023676f9e cifs: check for NULL last_entry before calling cifs_save_resume_key
Prior to commit eaf35b1, cifs_save_resume_key had some NULL pointer

When the LastNameOffset in a FIND reply appears to be beyond the end of
the buffer, CIFSFindFirst and CIFSFindNext will set srch_inf.last_entry
to NULL. Since eaf35b1, the code will now oops in this situation.

Fix this by having the callers check for a NULL last entry pointer
before calling cifs_save_resume_key. No change is needed for the
call site in cifs_readdir as it's not reachable with a NULL
current_entry pointer.

9ef5992e44 cifs: Assume passwords are encoded according to iocharset (try #2)
Re-posting a patch originally posted by Oskar Liljeblad after
rebasing on 3.2.

Modify cifs to assume that the supplied password is encoded according
to iocharset. Before this patch passwords would be treated as
raw 8-bit data, which made authentication with Unicode passwords impossible
(at least passwords with characters > 0xFF).

The previous code would as a side effect accept passwords encoded with
ISO 8859-1, since Unicode < 0x100 basically is ISO 8859-1. Software which
relies on that will no longer support password chars > 0x7F unless it also
uses iocharset=iso8859-1. (mount.cifs does not care about the encoding so
it will work as expected.)

ef3d0fd27e vfs: do (nearly) lockless generic_file_llseek
The i_mutex lock use of generic _file_llseek hurts. Independent processes
accessing the same file synchronize over a single lock, even though
they have no need for synchronization at all.

Under high utilization this can cause llseek to scale very poorly on larger
systems.

This patch does some rethinking of the llseek locking model:

First the 64bit f_pos is not necessarily atomic without locks
on 32bit systems. This can already cause races with read() today.
This was discussed on linux-kernel in the past and deemed acceptable.
The patch does not change that.

Let's look at the different seek variants:

SEEK_SET: Doesn't really need any locking.
If there's a race one writer wins, the other loses.

For 32bit the non atomic update races against read()
stay the same. Without a lock they can also happen
against write() now. The read() race was deemed
acceptable in past discussions, and I think if it's
ok for read it's ok for write too.

=> Don't need a lock.

SEEK_END: This behaves like SEEK_SET plus it reads
the maximum size too. Reading the maximum size would have the
32bit atomic problem. But luckily we already have a way to read
the maximum size without locking (i_size_read), so we
can just use that instead.

Without i_mutex there is no synchronization with write() anymore,
however since the write() update is atomic on 64bit it just behaves
like another racy SEEK_SET. On non atomic 32bit it's the same
as SEEK_SET.

=> Don't need a lock, but need to use i_size_read()

SEEK_CUR: This has a read-modify-write race window
on the same file. One could argue that any application
doing unsynchronized seeks on the same file is already broken.
But for the sake of not adding a regression here I'm
using the file->f_lock to synchronize this. Using this
lock is much better than the inode mutex because it doesn't
synchronize between processes.

=> So still need a lock, but can use a f_lock.

This patch implements this new scheme in generic_file_llseek.
I dropped generic_file_llseek_unlocked and changed all callers.

f06ac72e92 cifs, freezer: add wait_event_freezekillable and have cifs use it
CIFS currently uses wait_event_killable to put tasks to sleep while
they await replies from the server. That function though does not
allow the freezer to run. In many cases, the network interface may
be going down anyway, in which case the reply will never come. The
client then ends up blocking the computer from suspending.

Fix this by adding a new wait_event_freezable variant --
wait_event_freezekillable. The idea is to combine the behavior of
wait_event_killable and wait_event_freezable -- put the task to
sleep and only allow it to be awoken by fatal signals, but also
allow the freezer to do its job.

5eba8ab360 cifs: allow for larger rsize= options and change defaults
Currently we cap the rsize at a value that fits in CIFSMaxBufSize. That's
not needed any longer for readpages. Allow the use of larger values for
readpages. cifs_iovec_read and cifs_read however are still limited to the
CIFSMaxBufSize. Make sure they don't exceed that.

The patch also changes the rsize defaults. The default when unix
extensions are enabled is set to 1M for parity with the wsize, and there
is a hard cap of ~16M.

When unix extensions are not enabled, the default is set to 60k. According
to MS-CIFS, Windows servers can only send a max of 60k at a time, so
this is more efficient than requesting a larger size. If the user wishes
however, the max can be extended up to 128k - the length of the READ_RSP
header.

Really old servers however require a special hack to ensure that we don't
request too large a read.

...which will allow cifs to do an asynchronous read call to the server.
The caller will allocate and set up cifs_readdata for each READ_AND_X

to the pagecache, but not placed on the LRU list yet (as we need the
page->lru to keep the pages on the list in the readdata).

When cifsd identifies the mid, it will see that there is a special
receive handler for the call, and use that to receive the rest of the
frame. cifs_readv_receive will then marshal up a kvec array with
kmapped pages from the pagecache, which eliminates one copy of the
data. Once the data is received, the pages are added to the LRU list,
set uptodate, and unlocked.

42c4dfc213 cifs: turn read_from_socket into a wrapper around a vectorized version
Eventually we'll want to allow cifsd to read data directly into the
pagecache. In order to do that we'll need a routine that can take a
kvec array and pass that directly to kernel_recvmsg.

Unfortunately though, the kernel's recvmsg routines modify the kvec
array that gets passed in, so we need to use a copy of the kvec array
and refresh that copy on each pass through the loop.

a5ff376966 cifs: Call id to SID mapping functions to change owner/group (try #4 repost)
Now build security descriptor to change either owner or group at the

(D)ACL, that functionality has been extended.

When either an Owner or a Group of a file object at the server is changed,
rest of security descriptor remains same (DACL etc.).

To set security descriptor, it is necessary to open that file

WRITE_OWNER (Take Ownership) if Owner or Group is being changed.

It is the server that decides whether a set security descriptor with

21fed0d5b7 cifs: Add data structures and functions for uid/gid to SID mapping (try #4)
Add data structures and functions necessary to map a uid and gid to SID.
These functions are very similar to the ones used to map a SID to uid and gid.
This time, instead of storing sid to id mapping sorted on a sid value,
id to sid is stored, sorted on an id.
A cifs upcall sends an id (uid or gid) and expects a SID structure
in return, if mapping was done successfully.

A failed id to sid mapping to EINVAL.

This patchset aims to enable chown and chgrp commands when
cifsacl mount option is specified, especially to Windows SMB servers.
Currently we can't do that. So now along with chmod command,
chown and chgrp work.

Winbind is used to map id to a SID. chown and chgrp use an upcall
to provide an id to winbind and upcall returns with corrosponding
SID if any exists. That SID is used to build security descriptor.
The DACL part of a security descriptor is not changed by either
chown or chgrp functionality.

cifs client maintains a separate caches for uid to SID and
gid to SID mapping. This is similar to the one used earlier
to map SID to id (as part of ID mapping code).

I tested it by mounting shares from a Windows (2003) server by
authenticating as two users, one at a time, as Administrator and
as a ordinary user.
And then attempting to change owner of a file on the share.

Depending on the permissions/privileges at the server for that file,
chown request fails to either open a file (to change the ownership)
or to set security descriptor.
So it all depends on privileges on the file at the server and what
user you are authenticated as at the server, cifs client is just a
conduit.

I compared the security descriptor during chown command to that
what smbcacls sends when it is used with -M OWNNER: option
and they are similar.

This patchset aim to enable chown and chgrp commands when

"Making that a module parm would allow you to set that parameter at boot
time without needing to add special startup scripts. IMO, all of the

This patch doesn't alter the default behavior (Oplocks are enabled by

To disable oplocks when loading the module, use

   modprobe cifs enable_oplocks=0

(any of '0' or 'n' or 'N' conventions can be used).

To disable oplocks at runtime using the new interface, use

   echo 0 > /sys/module/cifs/parameters/enable_oplocks

The older /proc/fs/cifs/OplockEnabled interface will be deprecated

9438fabb73 cifs: fix possible memory corruption in CIFSFindNext
The name_len variable in CIFSFindNext is a signed int that gets set to
the resume_name_len in the cifs_search_info. The resume_name_len however
is unsigned and for some infolevels is populated directly from a 32 bit
value sent by the server.

If the server sends a very large value for this, then that value could
look negative when converted to a signed int. That would make that
value pass the PATH_MAX check later in CIFSFindNext. The name_len would
then be used as a length value for a memcpy. It would then be treated
as unsigned again, and the memcpy scribbles over a ton of memory.

Fix this by making the name_len an unsigned value in CIFSFindNext.

ad635942c8 cifs: simplify refcounting for oplock breaks
Currently, we take a sb->s_active reference and a cifsFileInfo reference
when an oplock break workqueue job is queued. This is unnecessary and
more complicated than it needs to be. Also as Al points out,
deactivate_super has non-trivial locking implications so it's best to
avoid that if we can.

Instead, just cancel any pending oplock breaks for this filehandle
synchronously in cifsFileInfo_put after taking it off the lists.
That should ensure that this job doesn't outlive the structures it
depends on.

02c24a8218 fs: push i_mutex and filemap_write_and_wait down into ->fsync() handlers
Btrfs needs to be able to control how filemap_write_and_wait_range() is called
in fsync to make it less of a painful operation, so push down taking i_mutex and
the calling of filemap_write_and_wait() down into the ->fsync() handlers. Some
file systems can drop taking the i_mutex altogether it seems, like ext3 and
ocfs2. For correctness sake I just pushed everything down in all cases to make
sure that we keep the current behavior the same for everybody, and then each
individual fs maintainer can make up their mind about what to do from there.

b9bce2e9f9 cifs: fix expand_dfs_referral
Regression introduced in commit 724d9f1cfb.

Prior to that, expand_dfs_referral would regenerate the mount data string
and then call cifs_parse_mount_options to re-parse it (klunky, but it
worked). The above commit moved cifs_parse_mount_options out of cifs_mount,
so the re-parsing of the new mount options no longer occurred. Fix it by
making expand_dfs_referral re-parse the mount options.

c902ce1bfb FS-Cache: Add a helper to bulk uncache pages on an inode
Add an FS-Cache helper to bulk uncache pages on an inode. This will
only work for the circumstance where the pages in the cache correspond
1:1 with the pages attached to an inode's page cache.

This is required for CIFS and NFS: When disabling inode cookie, we were
returning the cookie and setting cifsi->fscache to NULL but failed to
invalidate any previously mapped pages. This resulted in "Bad page
state" errors and manifested in other kind of errors when running
fsstress. Fix it by uncaching mapped pages when we disable the inode
cookie.

This patch should fix the following oops and "Bad page state" errors
seen during fsstress testing.

We do attempt to perform a try_to_freeze in cifs_reconnect, but the
connection attempt itself seems to be taking longer than 20s to time
out. The connect timeout is governed by the socket send and receive
timeouts, so we can shorten that period by setting those timeouts
before attempting the connect instead of after.

1190f6a067 cifs: fix wsize negotiation to respect max buffer size and active signing (try #4)
Hopefully last version. Base signing check on CAP_UNIX instead of
tcon->unix_ext, also clean up the comments a bit more.

According to Hongwei Sun's blog posting here:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/openspecification/archive/2009/04/10/smb-maximum-transmit-buffer-size-and-performance-tuning.aspx

CAP_LARGE_WRITEX is ignored when signing is active. Also, the maximum
size for a write without CAP_LARGE_WRITEX should be the maxBuf that
the server sent in the NEGOTIATE request.

Fix the wsize negotiation to take this into account. While we're at it,
alter the other wsize definitions to use sizeof(WRITE_REQ) to allow for
slightly larger amounts of data to potentially be written per request.

8d1bca328b cifs: correctly handle NULL tcon pointer in CIFSTCon
Long ago (in commit 00e485b0), I added some code to handle share-level
passwords in CIFSTCon. That code ignored the fact that it's legit to
pass in a NULL tcon pointer when connecting to the IPC$ share on the
server.

This wasn't really a problem until recently as we only called CIFSTCon
this way when the server returned -EREMOTE. With the introduction of
commit c1508ca2 however, it gets called this way on every mount, causing
an oops when share-level security is in effect.

Fix this by simply treating a NULL tcon pointer as if user-level
security were in effect. I'm not aware of any servers that protect the
IPC$ share with a specific password anyway. Also, add a comment to the
top of CIFSTCon to ensure that we don't make the same mistake again.

7fdbaa1b8d cifs: don't allow cifs_reconnect to exit with NULL socket pointer
It's possible for the following set of events to happen:

cifsd calls cifs_reconnect which reconnects the socket. A userspace
process then calls cifs_negotiate_protocol to handle the NEGOTIATE and
gets a reply. But, while processing the reply, cifsd calls
cifs_reconnect again. Eventually the GlobalMid_Lock is dropped and the
reply from the earlier NEGOTIATE completes and the tcpStatus is set to
CifsGood. cifs_reconnect then goes through and closes the socket and sets the
pointer to zero, but because the status is now CifsGood, the new socket
is not created and cifs_reconnect exits with the socket pointer set to
NULL.

Fix this by only setting the tcpStatus to CifsGood if the tcpStatus is
CifsNeedNegotiate, and by making sure that generic_ip_connect is always
called at least once in cifs_reconnect.

Note that this is not a perfect fix for this issue. It's still possible
that the NEGOTIATE reply is handled after the socket has been closed and
reconnected. In that case, the socket state will look correct but it no
NEGOTIATE was performed on it be for the wrong socket. In that situation
though the server should just shut down the socket on the next attempted
send, rather than causing the oops that occurs today.

f7910cbd9f cifs: clean up wsize negotiation and allow for larger wsize
Now that we can handle larger wsizes in writepages, fix up the
negotiation of the wsize to allow for that. find_get_pages only seems to
give out a max of 256 pages at a time, so that gives us a reasonable
default of 1M for the wsize.

If the server however does not support large writes via POSIX
extensions, then we cap the wsize to (128k - PAGE_CACHE_SIZE). That
gives us a size that goes up to the max frame size specified in RFC1001.

Finally, if CAP_LARGE_WRITE_AND_X isn't set, then further cap it to the
largest size allowed by the protocol (USHRT_MAX).

c3d17b63e5 cifs: convert cifs_writepages to use async writes
Have cifs_writepages issue asynchronous writes instead of waiting on
each write call to complete before issuing another. This also allows us
to return more quickly from writepages. It can just send out all of the
I/Os and not wait around for the replies.

In the WB_SYNC_ALL case, if the write completes with a retryable error,
then the completion workqueue job will resend the write.

This also changes the page locking semantics a little bit. Instead of
holding the page lock until the response is received, release it after
doing the send. This will reduce contention for the page lock and should
prevent processes that have the file mmap'ed from being blocked
unnecessarily.

3c1105df69 cifs: don't call mid_q_entry->callback under the Global_MidLock (try #5)
Minor revision to the last version of this patch -- the only difference
is the fix to the cFYI statement in cifs_reconnect.

Holding the spinlock while we call this function means that it can't
sleep, which really limits what it can do. Taking it out from under
the spinlock also means less contention for this global lock.

Change the semantics such that the Global_MidLock is not held when
the callback is called. To do this requires that we take extra care
not to have sync_mid_result remove the mid from the list when the
mid is in a state where that has already happened. This prevents
list corruption when the mid is sitting on a private list for
reconnect or when cifsd is coming down.

820a803ffa cifs: keep BCC in little-endian format
This is the same patch as originally posted, just with some merge
conflicts fixed up...

Currently, the ByteCount is usually converted to host-endian on receive.
This is confusing however, as we need to keep two sets of routines for
accessing it, and keep track of when to use each routine. Munging
received packets like this also limits when the signature can be
calulated.

Simplify the code by keeping the received ByteCount in little-endian
format. This allows us to eliminate a set of routines for accessing it
and we can now drop the *_le suffixes from the accessor functions since
that's now implied.

While we're at it, switch all of the places that read the ByteCount
directly to use the get_bcc inline which should also clean up some
unaligned accesses.

be8e3b0044 consistently use smb_buf_length as be32 for cifs (try 3)
There is one big endian field in the cifs protocol, the RFC1001
length, which cifs code (unlike in the smb2 code) had been handling as
u32 until the last possible moment, when it was converted to be32 (its
native form) before sending on the wire. To remove the last sparse
endian warning, and to make this consistent with the smb2
implementation (which always treats the fields in their
native size and endianness), convert all uses of smb_buf_length to
       be32.

This version incorporates Christoph's comment about

9409ae58e0 cifs: Invoke id mapping functions (try #17 repost)
rb tree search and insertion routines.

A SID which needs to be mapped, is looked up in one of the rb trees
depending on whether SID is either owner or group SID.
If found in the tree, a (mapped) id from that node is assigned to
uid or gid as appropriate. If unmapped, an upcall is attempted to
map the SID to an id. If upcall is successful, node is marked as
mapped. If upcall fails, node stays marked as unmapped and a mapping
is attempted again only after an arbitrary time period has passed.

To map a SID, which can be either a Owner SID or a Group SID, key
description starts with the string "os" or "gs" followed by SID converted
to a string. Without "os" or "gs", cifs.upcall does not know whether
SID needs to be mapped to either an uid or a gid.

Nodes in rb tree have fields to prevent multiple upcalls for
a SID. Searching, adding, and removing nodes is done within global locks.
Whenever a node is either found or inserted in a tree, a reference
is taken on that node.
Shrinker routine prunes a node if it has expired but does not prune
an expired node if its refcount is not zero (i.e. sid/id of that node
is_being/will_be accessed).
Thus a node, if its SID needs to be mapped by making an upcall,
can safely stay and its fields accessed without shrinker pruning it.
A reference (refcount) is put on the node without holding the spinlock
but a reference is get on the node by holding the spinlock.

Every time an existing mapped node is accessed or mapping is attempted,
its timestamp is updated to prevent it from getting erased or a
to prevent multiple unnecessary repeat mapping retries respectively.

For now, cifs.upcall is only used to map a SID to an id (uid or gid) but
it would be used to obtain an SID for an id.

We can eventually autonegotiate down from smb2 to cifs

is for the future. At that time we could also implement a
"maxprotocol" mount option as smbclient and Samba have today,
but that would be premature until smb2 is stable.

Intially the smb2 Kconfig option will depend on "BROKEN"

When it is no longer experimental we can consider changing

b34cb85cc2 Introduce SMB2 Kconfig option
SMB2 is the followon to the CIFS (and SMB) protocols
and the default for Windows since Windows Vista, and also
now implemented by various non-Windows servers. SMB2
is more secure, has various performance advantages, including
larger i/o sizes, flow control, better caching model and more.
SMB2 also resolves some scalability limits in the cifs
protocol and adds many new features while being much
simpler (only a few dozen commands instead of hundreds)
and since the protocol is clearer it is
also more consistently implemented across servers
and thus easier to optimize.

After much discussion with Jeff Layton, Jeremy Allison
and others at Connectathon, we decided to move the smb2
code from a distinct .ko and fstype into distinct
C files that optionally build in cifs.ko. As a result
the Kconfig gets simpler.

To avoid destabilizing cifs, the smb2 code is going
to be moved into its own experimental CONFIG_CIFS_SMB2 ifdef
as it is merged and rereviewed. The changes to stable
cifs (builds with the smb2 ifdef off) are expected to be
fairly small.

11379b5e33 cifs: fix cifsConvertToUCS() for the mapchars case

ca83ce3d5b cifs: don't allow mmap'ed pages to be dirtied while under writeback (try #3)
This is more or less the same patch as before, but with some merge
conflicts fixed up.

If a process has a dirty page mapped into its page tables, then it has
the ability to change it while the client is trying to write the data
out to the server. If that happens after the signature has been
calculated then that signature will then be wrong, and the server will
likely reset the TCP connection.

This patch adds a page_mkwrite handler for CIFS that simply takes the
page lock. Because the page lock is held over the life of writepage and
writepages, this prevents the page from becoming writeable until
the write call has completed.

With this, we can also remove the "sign_zero_copy" module option and
always inline the pages when writing.

fd88ce9313 [CIFS] cifs: clarify the meaning of tcpStatus == CifsGood
When the TCP_Server_Info is first allocated and connected, tcpStatus ==
CifsGood means that the NEGOTIATE_PROTOCOL request has completed and the
socket is ready for other calls. cifs_reconnect however sets tcpStatus
to CifsGood as soon as the socket is reconnected and the optional
RFC1001 session setup is done. We have no clear way to tell the
difference between these two states, and we need to know this in order
to know whether we can send an echo or not.

Resolve this by adding a new statusEnum value -- CifsNeedNegotiate. When
the socket has been connected but has not yet had a NEGOTIATE_PROTOCOL
request done, set it to this value. Once the NEGOTIATE is done,
cifs_negotiate_protocol will set tcpStatus to CifsGood.

This also fixes and cleans the logic in cifs_reconnect and
cifs_reconnect_tcon. The old code checked for specific states when what
it really wants to know is whether the state has actually changed from
CifsNeedReconnect.

2b6c26a0a6 cifs: set ra_pages in backing_dev_info
Commit 522440ed made cifs set backing_dev_info on the mapping attached
to new inodes. This change caused a fairly significant read performance
regression, as cifs started doing page-sized reads exclusively.

By virtue of the fact that they're allocated as part of cifs_sb_info by
kzalloc, the ra_pages on cifs BDIs get set to 0, which prevents any
readahead. This forces the normal read codepaths to use readpage instead
of readpages causing a four-fold increase in the number of read calls
with the default rsize.

Fix it by setting ra_pages in the BDI to the same value as that in the
default_backing_dev_info.

8679b0dba7 cifs: fix broken BCC check in is_valid_oplock_break
The BCC is still __le16 at this point, and in any case we need to
use the get_bcc_le macro to make sure we don't hit alignment
problems.

7094564372 cifs: always do is_path_accessible check in cifs_mount
Currently, we skip doing the is_path_accessible check in cifs_mount if
there is no prefixpath. I have a report of at least one server however
that allows a TREE_CONNECT to a share that has a DFS referral at its
root. The reporter in this case was using a UNC that had no prefixpath,
so the is_path_accessible check was not triggered and the box later hit
a BUG() because we were chasing a DFS referral on the root dentry for
the mount.

This patch fixes this by removing the check for a zero-length
prefixpath. That should make the is_path_accessible check be done in
this situation and should allow the client to chase the DFS referral at
mount time instead.

In checking new smb2 code for missing endian conversions, I noticed
some endian errors had crept in over the last few releases into the
cifs code (symlink, ntlmssp, posix lock, and also a less problematic warning
in fscache). A followon patch will address a few smb2 endian
problems.

bdf1b03e09 cifs: replace /proc/fs/cifs/Experimental with a module parm
This flag currently only affects whether we allow "zero-copy" writes
with signing enabled. Typically we map pages in the pagecache directly
into the write request. If signing is enabled however and the contents
of the page change after the signature is calculated but before the
write is sent then the signature will be wrong. Servers typically
respond to this by closing down the socket.

Still, this can provide a performance benefit so the "Experimental" flag
was overloaded to allow this. That's really not a good place for this
option however since it's not clear what that flag does.

Move that flag instead to a new module parameter that better describes
its purpose. That's also better since it can be set at module insertion
time by configuring modprobe.d.

9616125611 cifs: fix handling of scopeid in cifs_convert_address
The code finds, the '%' sign in an ipv6 address and copies that to a
buffer allocated on the stack. It then ignores that buffer, and passes
'pct' to simple_strtoul(), which doesn't work right because we're
comparing 'endp' against a completely different string.

Fix it by passing the correct pointer. While we're at it, this is a
good candidate for conversion to strict_strtoul as well.

71823baff1 cifs: don't always drop malformed replies on the floor (try #3)
Slight revision to this patch...use min_t() instead of conditional
assignment. Also, remove the FIXME comment and replace it with the
explanation that Steve gave earlier.

After receiving a packet, we currently check the header. If it's no
good, then we toss it out and continue the loop, leaving the caller
waiting on that response.

In cases where the packet has length inconsistencies, but the MID is
valid, this leads to unneeded delays. That's especially problematic now
that the client waits indefinitely for responses.

Instead, don't immediately discard the packet if checkSMB fails. Try to
find a matching mid_q_entry, mark it as having a malformed response and
issue the callback.
