It was amusing that linux was able to make use of this 1980's
technology on machines long past its intended lifespan, but
it probably should go now.
To set some context, the 3c501 was designed in the 1980's to be
used on 8088 PC-XT 8bit ISA machines. It was built using a large
number of discrete TTL components and truly looks like a relic
of the ancient past before large scale integration was common.
But from a functional point of view, the real issue, as stated
in the (also obsolete) Ethernet-HowTo, is that "...the 3c501 can
only do one thing at a time -- while you are removing one packet
from the single-packet buffer it cannot receive another packet,
nor can it receive a packet while loading a transmit packet."
You know things are not good when the Kconfig help text suggests
you make a cron job doing a ping every minute.
Hardware that old and crippled is simply not going to be used by
anyone in a time where 10 year old 100Mbit PCI cards (that are
still functional) are largely give-away items.

The code to print the FIFO size in tc574_config computes it as:
8 << config & Ram_size
which evaluates the '<<' first, but the actual intent is to evaluate the
'&' first. Add parentheses to enforce desired evaluation order.

We threw away the microchannel support, but the removal wasn't
completely trivial since there was namespace overlap with the
machine check support, and hence some orphaned dependencies
survived the deletion. This attempts to sweep those up and
send them to the bit-bucket.

The support for CONFIG_MCA is being removed, since the 20
year old hardware simply isn't capable of meeting today's
software demands on CPU and memory resources.
This commit removes any MCA specific net drivers, and removes
any MCA specific probe/support code from drivers that were
doing a dual ISA/MCA role.

Jean Delvare reported bonding on top of 3c59x adapters was not detecting
network cable removal fast enough.
3c59x indeed uses a 60 seconds timer to check link status if carrier is
on, and 5 seconds if carrier is off.
This patch reduces timer period to 5 seconds if device is a bonding
slave.

MII Kconfig option is apart of the core networking drivers and
by default NET_CORE is enabled so drivers selecting MII will
have MII enabled as well. It was found using the randconfig
option during testing, MII would be selected but NET_CORE
could be disabled. This caused a dependency error.
Resolved the dependency by selecting NET_CORE when MII is
selected.

enable a ethernet driver and it is not compiled due to the newly
added NET_VENDOR_* component of Kconfig.
This patch enables all the "new" Kconfig options so that current

addition, by enabling all the new Kconfig options does not add
