6d23ee9caa usb: changes for v4.17 merge window
Quite a lot happened in this cycle, with a total of 95 non-merge
commits. The most interesting parts are listed below:

Synopsys has been adding better support for USB 3.1 to dwc3. The same
series also sets g_mass_storage's max speed to SSP.

Roger Quadros (TI) added support for dual-role using the OTG block
available in some dwc3 implementations, this makes sure that AM437x
 can swap roles in runtime.

We have a new SoC supported in dwc3 now - Amlogic Meson GX - thanks to
 the work of Martin Blumenstingl.

We also have a ton of changes in dwc2 (51% of all changes, in
fact). The most interesting part there is the support for
 Hibernation (a Synopsys PM feature).

Apart from these, we have our regular set of non-critical fixes all
 over the place.

48f80609e5 usb: dwc3: Make TX/RX threshold configurable
DWC_usb31 periodic transfer at 48K+ bytes per interval may need
modification to the TX/RX packet threshold to achieve optimal result.
Add properties to make it configurable.

By default, periodic ESS TX and RX threshold are not enabled. To enable
TX or RX threshold (host mode only), both packet threshold count and max
burst size properties must be set to a valid non-zero value 1-16.

DWC_usb31 programming guide section 1.2.3 and 1.2.4.

Not many changes here, the most important being an improvement for TI's
AM57xx and DRA7xx devices which allows them to disable a metastability

Other than that, we have a set of changes on Renesas UDC to make the
code a little easier to read and maintain while also better supporting

The u_serial adaptation layer learned to use kfifo instead of cooking
 its own FIFO implementation.

DWC3 learned to decode a few more USB requests on the trace output.

42bf02ec6e usb: dwc3: Allow disabling of metastability workaround
Some platforms (e.g. TI's DRA7 USB2 instance) have more trouble
with the metastability workaround as it supports only
a High-Speed PHY and the PHY can enter into an Erratic state [1]
when the controller is set in SuperSpeed mode as part of
the metastability workaround.

This causes upto 2 seconds delay in enumeration on DRA7's USB2
instance in gadget mode.

If these platforms can be better off without the workaround,
provide a device tree property to suggest that so the workaround
is avoided.

ab725cbec3 usb: xhci: allow imod-interval to be configurable
The xHCI driver currently has the IMOD set to 160, which
translates to an IMOD interval of 40,000ns (160 * 250)ns

Commit 0cbd4b34cd ("xhci: mediatek: support MTK xHCI host controller")
introduced a QUIRK for the MTK platform to adjust this interval to 20,
which translates to an IMOD interval of 5,000ns (20 * 250)ns. This is
due to the fact that the MTK controller IMOD interval is 8 times
as much as defined in xHCI spec.

Instead of adding more quirk bits for additional platforms, this patch
introduces the ability for vendors to set the IMOD_INTERVAL as is
optimal for their platform. By using device_property_read_u32() on
"imod-interval-ns", the IMOD INTERVAL can be specified in nano seconds.
If no interval is specified, the default of 40,000ns (IMOD=160) will be
used.

No bounds checking has been implemented due to the fact that a vendor
may have violated the spec and would need to specify a value outside of
the max 8,000 IRQs/second limit specified in the xHCI spec.

Hub nodes and host-controller nodes with child nodes must specify values
for #address-cells (1) and #size-cells (0).

Also make the definition of the related reg property a bit more
stringent, and add comments to the example source.

f42ae7b054 dt-bindings: usb: fix reg-property port-number range
The USB hub port-number range for USB 2.0 is 1-255 and not 1-31 which
reflects an arbitrary limit set by the current Linux implementation.

Note that for USB 3.1 hubs the valid range is 1-15.

Increase the documented valid range in the binding to 255, which is the
maximum allowed by the specifications.

Consumers of usb-nop-xceiv use the phy binding, but #phy-cells is missing
from the binding. This is probably because this binding predates the

a8a5267756 usb: usb251xb: Update usb251xb bindings
Since hub usb2517 is going to be supported by the usb251xb driver,
the bindings need to be properly updated. Particularly:
- add "microchip,usb2517" and "microchip,usb2517i" compatible strings.
- add "boolean" description to all the properties, which really accept
a boolean value including a new one "led-{usb,speed}-mode".
- move reset-gpios property to the optional section. It isn't
defined as required in the code and shouldn't be required at all, since
hardware may handle reset pins by itself.
- add new led-{usb,speed}-mode mode property. USB2517 device supports
two LED modes: USB mode and speed (default) indication mode. The last one
can be switched on by this property.
- add {bp,sp}-max-{total,removable}-current-microamp property measured in
microamp. It hasn't been defined as property before. Since the limitation
specified by these parameters is hardware specific it needs to be defined
in dts.

This patch adds support for r8a7743/5 SoCs. The Renesas RZ/G1[ME]

  1. Document which SoCs have this hardware module,

bf1d6b2c76 Staging/IIO driver updates for 4.14-rc1
Here is the big staging and IIO driver update for 4.14-rc1.

Lots of staging driver fixes and cleanups, including some reorginizing
of the lustre header files to try to impose some sanity on what is, and
what is not, the uapi for that filesystem.

There are some tty core changes in here as well, as the speakup drivers
need them, and that's ok with me, they are sane and the speakup code is
 getting nicer because of it.

There is also the addition of the obiligatory new wifi driver, just
because it has been a release or two since we added our last one...

Other than that, lots and lots of small coding style fixes, as usual.

All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
 issues.

4da722ca19 dt-bindings: Remove "status" from examples
Pretty much any node can have a status property, so it doesn't need to
be in examples.

Converted with the following command and removed examples with SoC and
board specific splits:

git grep -l -E 'status.*=.*' Documentation/devicetree/ | xargs sed -i -E '/\sstatus.*=.*"(disabled|ok|okay)/d'

097578ec20 staging: typec: fusb302: Get max snk mv/ma/mw from device-properties
This is board specific info so it should come from board config, such
as devicetree.

I've chosen to prefix these with "fcs," treating them as fusb302 driver
specific for now. We may want to revisit this and replace these with
properties which are part of a (to be written) generic type-c controller
devicetree binding.

Since this commit adds new dt-properties it also adds devicetree-bindings
documentation (which so far was absent for the fusb302 driver).

c3d3ad68fe dt-bindings: mt8173-mtu3: add generic compatible and rename file
The mt8173-mtu3.txt actually holds the bindings for all mediatek
SoCs with usb3 DRD IP, so add a generic compatible and change the
name to mediatek,mtu3.txt.

The mt8173-xhci.txt actually holds the bindings for all mediatek
