If a lirc device is unplugged, the struct rc_dev is freed even though
userspace can still have a file descriptor open on the lirc chardev. The
rc_dev structure can be used in a subsequent, or even currently executing
ioctl, read or write.

Split the protocol into two variants, one for keyboard and one for mouse
data.

The lirc keymap existed once upon a time to select the lirc protocol.
Since '275ddb4 [media] rc-core: remove the LIRC "protocol"', IR is
always passed to the lirc decoder so this keymap is no longer needed.

Adjust the keymap to use the correct nec scancodes, and adjust the
rc driver to output the correct nec scancodes.
Now the keymap can be used with any nec receiver, and the rc device
should work with any nec keymap.

update_subrect() adjusts the sub-rectangle to be inside a base area.
It checks width and height to not exceed those of the area, then it
checks the low border (left or top) to lie within the area, then the
high border (right or bottom) to lie there too. This latter check has
a bug, which is fixed by this patch.

After changes to v4l2_clk API introduced in v4.1 by commits a37462b919
'[media] V4L: remove clock name from v4l2_clk API' and 4f528afcfb
'[media] V4L: add CCF support to the v4l2_clk API', ov6650 sensor
stopped responding because v4l2_clk_get(), still called with
depreciated V4L2 clock name "mclk", started to return respective CCF
clock instead of the V4l2 one registered by soc_camera. Fix it by
calling v4l2_clk_get() with NULL clock name.
Created and tested on Amstrad Delta against Linux-4.7-rc3 with
omap1_camera fixes.

The vpif display driver uses a static i2c adapter ID of 1 but on the
da850-evm board in DT boot mode the i2c adapter ID is actually 0.
Make the adapter ID configurable like it already is for vpif capture.

The driver doesn't have a struct of_device_id table but supported devices
are registered via Device Trees. This is working on the assumption that a
I2C device registered via OF will always match a legacy I2C device ID and
that the MODALIAS reported will always be of the form i2c:<device>.
But this could change in the future so the correct approach is to have an
OF device ID table if the devices are registered via OF.

It's no longer necessary to keep the i2c_client in the device struct
unmodified until a sensor is found, so reduce stack usage in
em28xx_probe_sensor_micron() and em28xx_probe_sensor_omnivision() by using
a pointer to the client instead of a local copy.

Previously multiple calls to v4l2_device_register_subdev_nodes() ended up
corrupting memory and leaking some, too. This patch changes the behaviour so
that sub-devices the device nodes of which are already registered are
ignored.

The I2C core always reports a MODALIAS of the form i2c:<foo> even if the
device was registered via OF, this means that exporting the OF device ID
table device aliases in the module is not needed. But in order to change
how the core reports modaliases to user-space, it's better to export it.

Several error paths didn't log why an error was returned. Add this.
Also handle the corner case of "adapter is unconfigured AND the message
is from Unregistered to TV AND reply is non-zero" separately and return
EINVAL in that case, since it really is an invalid value and not an
unconfigured CEC device.

The CEC_TRANSMIT ioctl now returns -EPERM if an attempt is made to
transmit a message for an unconfigured adapter (i.e. userspace
never called CEC_ADAP_S_LOG_ADDRS).
This differentiates this case from when LAs are configured, but no
physical address is set. In that case -ENONET is returned.

The CEC specifications explicitly allows you to send poll messages and
Image/Text View On messages to a TV, even when unconfigured (i.e. there is
no hotplug signal detected). Some TVs will pull the HPD low when switching
to another input, or when going into standby, but CEC should still be
allowed to wake up such a display.
Add support for sending messages with initiator 0xf (Unregistered) and
destination 0 (TV) when no physical address is present.
This also required another change: the CEC adapter has to stay enabled as
long as 1) the CEC device is configured or 2) at least one filehandle is open
for the CEC device.

When the adapter is unloaded or unconfigured, then all transmits and
pending waits should be flushed.
Move this code into its own function and improve the code that cancels
delayed work to avoid having to unlock adap->lock.

vivid_try_fmt_vid_cap() called tpg_calc_line_width to calculate the sizeimage
value, but that tpg function uses the current format, not the proposed (tried)
format.
Rewrote this code to calculate this correctly.
The vivid_try_fmt_vid_out() code was completely wrong w.r.t. sizeimage, and
neither did it take the vdownsampling[] factors into account.

Even if bus is not hot-pluggable, devices can be unbound from the
driver via sysfs, so we should not be using __exit annotations on
remove() methods. The only exception is drivers registered with
platform_driver_probe() which specifically disables sysfs bind/unbind
attributes.

tw5864_frameinterval_get() only initializes its output when it successfully
identifies the video standard in tw5864_input. We get a warning here because
gcc can't always track the state if initialized warnings across a WARN()

Currently, IMX_VDOA and VIDEO_CODA only builds on ARCH_MXC.
That prevented me to build-test the driver, causing a bad patch
to be applied, and to see other warnings on this driver.
Hans wrote a similar patch, but his version was fold with a
warning fixup hunk.
So, I opted to keep my version.

With reordering enabled, the sequence init in CODA960 firmware requests an
unreasonable number of internal frames for some baseline profile streams.
Disabling the reordering feature manually if baseline streams are detected
fixes this problem.

Keeping buffers filled into the bitstream on a temporary list instead of
immediately calling vb2_buffer_done on each of them immediately allows
start_streaming to correctly decide whether they should be marked as
done or requeued if an error occurs after the bitstream has been filled.

I don't know what the BWB unit is, I guess W is for write and one of the
Bs is for burst. All I know is that there repeatedly have been issues
with it hanging on certain streams (ENGR00223231, ENGR00293425), with
various firmware versions, sometimes blocking something related to the
GDI bus or the GDI AXI adapter. There are some error cases that we don't
know how to recover from without a reboot. Apparently this unit can be
disabled by setting bit 12 in the FRAME_MEM_CTRL mailbox register to
zero, so do that to avoid crashes.
Side effects are reduced burst lengths when writing out decoded frames
to memory, so there is an "enable_bwb" module parameter to turn it back
on.

There is no need to call v4l2_m2m_try_schedule to kick off draining the
bitstream buffer for the encoder, but we have to wake up the destination
queue in case there are no new OUTPUT buffers to be encoded and userspace
is already polling for new CAPTURE buffers.

Without calling tc358743_set_csi after stopping streaming (or calling
tc358743_s_dv_timings or tc358743_set_fmt from userspace after stopping
the stream), the i.MX6 MIPI CSI2 input fails waiting for lanes to enter
STOP state when streaming is started again.

In the case of semi planar formats cb and cr are in the same plane
in memory, meaning that will be set to 'cb' whatever the format is,
and whatever the (packed) order of those components are.

Replace the open coded registration of the cdev and dev with the
new device_add_cdev() helper. The helper replaces a common pattern by
taking the proper reference against the parent device and adding both
the cdev and the device.

The interface to configure the LIF in the VSP1 requires adapting the
function prototype for any changes. This makes extending the interface
difficult.
Change the function prototype to pass a structure which can be easily
extended.
This changes the means of disabling the pipeline, by now passing a NULL
configuration rather than passing either a 0 width or height.

On Kernel 4.9, WARNINGs about doing DMA on stack are hit at
the dw2102 driver: one in su3000_power_ctrl() and the other in tt_s2_4600_frontend_attach().
Both were due to the use of buffers on the stack as parameters to
dvb_usb_generic_rw() and the resulting attempt to do DMA with them.
The device was non-functional as a result.
So, switch this driver over to use a buffer within the device state
structure, as has been done with other DVB-USB drivers.
Tested with TechnoTrend TT-connect S2-4600.

Bytesperline/stride was always overwritten by VPE to the most
adequate value based on needed alignment.
However in order to make use of arbitrary size DMA buffer it
is better to use the user space provide stride instead.
The driver will still calculate an appropriate stride but will
use the provided one when it is larger than the calculated one.

tveeprom_hauppauge_analog() used to need the I2C adapter in
order to print debug messages. As it now uses pr_foo() facilities
since commit 6037b3ca28 ("[media] tveeprom: print log messages
using pr_foo()"), the first argument of the function is not
needed anymore.
So, get rid of it.

While testing with CONFIG_UBSAN, I got this warning:

The problem is that the i2c_rd8/wr8/rd16/... functions in this driver pass
a pointer to a local variable into a common function, and each call to one
of them adds another variable plus redzone to the stack.
I also noticed that the way this is done is broken on big-endian machines,
as we copy the registers in CPU byte order.
To address both those problems, I'm adding two helper functions for reading
a register of up to 32 bits with correct endianess and change all other
functions to use that instead. Just to be sure we don't get the problem
back with changed optimizations in gcc, I'm also marking the new functions
as 'noinline', although my tests with gcc-7 don't require that.

The driver uses a relatively large data structure on the stack, which
showed up on my radar as we get a warning with the "latent entropy"
GCC plugin:

The warning is usually hidden as we raise the warning limit to 2048
when the plugin is enabled, but I'd like to lower that again in the
future, and making this function smaller helps to do that without
build regressions.
Further analysis shows that putting an 'i2c_client' structure on
the stack is not really supported, as the embedded 'struct device'
is not initialized here, and we are only saved by the fact that
the function that is called here does not use the pointer at all.

Image Sensor Controller has an internal image processor.
It can convert raw format to the other formats, like
RGB565, YUV420P. A module parameter 'sensor_preferred'
is used to enable or disable the pipeline function.
Some v4l2 controls are added to tuning the image when
the pipeline function is enabled.

ir_raw_event_register() sets up change_protocol(), and without that set,
rc_setup_rx_device() does not set the protocol for the device on register.
The standard udev rules run ir-keytable, which writes to the protocols
file again, which hides this problem.

When the interrupt requested with devm_request_irq(), serial_ir.rcdev

Now that %z is standartised in C99 there is no reason to support %Z.
Unlike %L it doesn't even make format strings smaller.
Use BUILD_BUG_ON in a couple ATM drivers.
In case anyone didn't notice lib/vsprintf.o is about half of SLUB which
is in my opinion is quite an achievement. Hopefully this patch inspires
someone else to trim vsprintf.c more.

drivers/net/wireless/realtek/rtlwifi/wifi.h to avoid unpredictable

I fixed "_aligment_handler" in arch/openrisc/kernel/entry.S because
it is surrounded by #if 0 ... #endif. It is surely safe and I
confirmed "_alignment_handler" is correct.
I also fixed the "controler" I found in the same hunk in
arch/openrisc/kernel/head.S.

The USB control messages require DMA to work. We cannot pass
a stack-allocated buffer, as it is not warranted that the
stack would be into a DMA enabled area.
On Kernel 4.9, the default is to not accept DMA on stack anymore
on x86 architecture. On other architectures, this has been a
requirement since Kernel 2.2. So, after this patch, this driver
should likely work fine on all archs.

It is because mtk_vcodec_debug() and mtk_vcodec_err() are defined as empty
macros. Without DEBUG definition, the variable for debugging is not used
anymore. Fixing build warnings by moving the assignment of the
variable to the argument of mtk_vcodec_debug() and mtk_vcodec_err().
Within the patch, build pass with/without DEBUG definition, and functions
still work fine.

If the USB driver is enabled but the demodulator is not, we get a link error:

Commit 17ce039b4e ("[media] cxusb: don't do DMA on stack")
added a kmalloc'ed bounce buffer for writes, but missed to do the same
for reads. As the read only happens after the write is finished, we can
reuse the same buffer.
As dvb_usb_generic_rw handles a read length of 0 by itself, avoid calling
it using the dvb_usb_generic_read wrapper function.

I ran into a stack frame size warning because of the on-stack copy of
the USB device structure:

Copying a device structure like this is wrong for a number of other reasons
too aside from the possible stack overflow. One of them is that the
dev_info() call will print the name of the device later, but AFAICT
we have only copied a pointer to the name earlier and the actual name
has been freed by the time it gets printed.
This removes the on-stack copy of the device and instead copies the
device name using kstrdup(). I'm ignoring the possible failure here
as both printk() and kfree() are able to deal with NULL pointers.

EOS (End Of Stream) support allows user to get
all the potential decoded frames remaining in decoder
pipeline after having reached the end of video bitstream.
To do so, user calls VIDIOC_DECODER_CMD(V4L2_DEC_CMD_STOP)
which will drain the decoder and get the drained frames
that are then returned to user.
User is informed of EOS completion in two ways:
- dequeue of an empty frame flagged to V4L2_BUF_FLAG_LAST
- reception of a V4L2_EVENT_EOS event.
If, unfortunately, no buffer is available on CAPTURE queue
to return the empty frame, EOS is delayed till user queue
one CAPTURE buffer.

IPC (Inter Process Communication) support for communication with
DELTA coprocessor firmware using rpmsg kernel framework.
Based on 4 services open/set_stream/decode/close and their associated
rpmsg messages.
The messages structures are duplicated on both host and firmware
side and are packed (use only of 32 bits size fields in messages
structures to ensure packing).
Each service is synchronous; service returns only when firmware
acknowledges the associated command message.
Due to significant parameters size exchanged from host to copro,
parameters are not inserted in rpmsg messages. Instead, parameters are
stored in physical memory shared between host and coprocessor.
Memory is non-cacheable, so no special operation is required
to ensure memory coherency on host and on coprocessor side.
Multi-instance support and re-entrance are ensured using host_hdl and
copro_hdl in message header exchanged between both host and coprocessor.
This avoids to manage tables on both sides to get back the running context
of each instance.

v4l2-async had several functions doing some operations and then
not undoing the operations in a failure situation. For example,
v4l2_async_test_notify() moved a subdev into notifier's done list
even if registering the subdev (v4l2_device_register_subdev) failed.
If the subdev was allocated and v4l2_async_register_subdev() called
from the driver's probe() function, as usually, the probe()
function freed the allocated subdev and returned a failure.
Nevertheless, the subdev was still left into the notifier's done
list, causing an access to already freed memory when the notifier
was later unregistered.

There isn't an ioctl to enum the supported field orders, so a user-space
application can call VIDIOC_TRY_FMT using different field orders to know
if one is supported. For example, GStreamer does this so during playback
dozens of the following messages appear in the kernel log buffer:

Instead of printing this as an error, just keep it as debug information.

While the wakeup path seems to be set up, this waitqueue is actually
never used as no-one enqueues themselves on the list. As such, wakeups

Using %4s to format f->fmt.pix_mp.pixelformat in fdp1_try_fmt() and
fdp1_s_fmt() may lead to more characters being printed (when the byte
following field pixelformat is not zero).
Add ".4" to the format specifier to limit the number of printed
characters to four. The resulting format specifier "%4.4s" is also used
by other media drivers to print pixelformat value.

The STK1160 needs some time to transfer data to and from the AC97 codec.
The transfer completion is indicated by command read/write bits in the
chip's audio control register. The driver should poll these bits and
wait until they have been cleared by hardware before trying to retrieve
the results of a read operation or setting a new write command.

Some STK1160-based devices use the chip's internal 8-bit ADC. This is
configured through a strap pin. The value of this and other pins can be
read through the POSVA register. If the internal ADC is used, or if
audio is disabled altogether, there's no point trying to setup the AC97
codec.

Exposing all the channels of the device's internal AC97 codec to
userspace is unnecessary and confusing. Instead the driver should setup
the codec with proper values. This patch removes the mixer and sets up
the codec using optimal values, i.e. the same values set by the Windows
driver. This also makes the device work out-of-the-box, without the need
for the user to reconfigure the device every time it's plugged in.

Check that the control whose events we want to delete is still there.
Normally this will always be the case, but I am not 100% certain if
there aren't any corner cases when a device is forcibly unbound.
In any case, this will satisfy static checkers and simply make it more
robust.

Originally Toshiba told us that the only way to disable HDCP was to
set the receiver in repeater mode, that would make the authentication
fail because of missing software support. It has worked fine with all
the sources we and our customers has used, until it was reported
problems with Apple MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015)
(https://support.apple.com/kb/SP712?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US)
with Apple A1612 USB type-C multiport adapter
(http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MJ1K2AM/A/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter)
Finally Toshiba came up with a hidden bit that is named "Manual HDCP
authentication". In this patch the original "repeater mode" concept is
removed, and the new bit is set instead.
With his patch HDCP is disabled when connected to the Apple MacBook
and all other sources we have tested so far. The Apple MacBook is
constantly trying to authenticate, but fails and continues to transmit
unencrypted video.

The number of CSI lanes that should be used is set to the CSI_CONTROL
register by indirectly writing to the CSI_CONFW register. When the
number of lanes is read back from the CSI_CONTROL register the value
is usually correct, but we have seen that it suddenly is 1 for a short
moment before the correct value is restored again.
Toshiba have not figured out why that happen, but we have found it
safer to store the value in the driver.

dib7000p_read_word() may return zero on i2c errors, resulting in
dib7000p_get_internal_freq() returning zero.
So don't divide by the result of dib7000p_get_internal_freq()
without checking it for zero in dib7000p_set_dds().
On one of my machines the device
ID 2304:0229 Pinnacle Systems, Inc. PCTV Dual DVB-T 2001e
about once a day/every two days gets into a state, where
most (all?) I2C reads return with an error. Tuning during this
state will result in a divide by zero without this patch.
This patch doesn't fix the root cause for the device getting
into a bad state, but it allows me to unload/reload the drivers,
bringing it back into a usable state.

Each time the overlay is applied, its of_node pointer will be
different. We are not interested in matching the pointer, what we
want to match is that the path is the one we are expecting. Change to
use of_node_cmp() so that we continue matching after the overlay has
been removed and reapplied.

The value of return variable ret is 0 on some error paths, for example,
when pci_resource_start() returns a NULL pointer. 0 means no error in
this context, which is contrary to the fact. This patch fixes the bug.

Function bdisp_debugfs_create() returns 0 even on errors. So its caller
cannot detect the errors. It may be better to return "-ENOMEM" on the
exception paths.

Drivers might try to access and run enable_source and disable_source
handlers when the driver that implements these handlers is clearing
the handlers during its unregister.
Fix the following race condition:

protecting enable_source and disable_source handler access and the call
itself.

If graph_mutex is held to just heck for handler being null and needs to be

forcing them release the graph_mutex before calling the handlers.

Using sprintf() with a non-literal string makes some compiler complain
when building with -Wformat-security (eg. clang reports "format string
is not a string literal (potentially insecure)").
Here sprintf() format parameter is indirectly a literal string so there
is no security issue. Nevertheless adding a "%s" format string to
silent the warning helps to detect real bugs in the kernel.

The check assumes that we end on zero but actually we end on -1. Change
the post-op to a pre-op so that we do end on zero. Techinically now we
only loop 499 times instead of 500 but that's fine.

changeset da8ec560e3 ("[media] ivtv: implement new decoder command
ioctls") implemented proper support for mpeg audio and video control
at V4L2 API. Since then, the usage of the the DVB APIs is deprecated.
However, we never actually marked it as deprecated nor provided any
way to disable it. Let's do it now.
This patch prepares for the removal of this bad usage on a couple
of Kernel versions.

Remove unused demod driver. Device that used it never went public.

I saw from ZyDAS ZD1301 sniffs it sets chip sleeping by using
REG_MISC_CTRL. That has very huge effect for power management, around
0.9W. Sleep is still disabled for all the old hardware just to avoid
possible regression as meaning of register bits are unknown.
I tested it also with some other devices and it seems to be working,
but I still consider it to be too risky to change it default.

This patch creates 4 static debugfs entries to dump:
- the device-related information ("st-hva/device")
- the list of registered encoders ("st-hva/encoders")
- the current values of the hva registers ("st-hva/regs")
- the information about the last closed instance ("st-hva/last")
It also creates dynamically a debugfs entry for each opened instance,
("st-hva/<instance identifier>") to dump:
- the information about the frame (format, resolution)
- the information about the stream (format, profile, level,
resolution)
- the control parameters (bitrate mode, framerate, GOP size...)
- the potential (system, encoding...) errors
- the performance information about the encoding (HW processing
duration, average bitrate, average framerate...)
Each time a running instance is closed, its context (including the
debug information) is saved to feed, on demand, the last closed
instance debugfs entry.

ulseep_range() uses hrtimers and provides no advantage over msleep()
for larger delays. Fix up the 25ms delays here to use msleep() and
reduce the load on the hrtimer subsystem.

Chip uses so called 8-bit i2c addresses, but on bus there is of
course correct 7-bit addresses with rw bit as lsb - verified
with oscilloscope.

it913x tuner driver is changed to platform model so we need bind it
using platform_device_register_data().
Also remove hacks from I2C adapter where fake tuner driver address

That tuner is integrated to demodulator and communicates via
demodulators address space. We cannot register both demodulator
and tuner having same address to same I2C bus, so better to change
it platform driver in order to implement I2C adapter correctly.

Commit a006c04e62 ("[media] exynos-gsc: Fixup clock management at
->remove()") changed the driver's .remove function logic to fist do
a pm_runtime_get_sync() to make sure the device is powered before
attempting to gate the gsc clock.
But the commit also removed a pm_runtime_disable() call that leads
to an unbalanced pm_runtime_enable() error if the driver is removed
and re-probed:

Setting GPIOs during probe causes null pointer deference when
GPIOLIB was not selected by Kconfig. Initialize driver private
field before calling set gpios.
It is regressing bug since 4.9.

The VDOA is able to transform the NV12 custom macroblock tiled format of
the CODA to YUYV format. If and only if the VDOA is available, the
driver can also provide YUYV support.
While the driver is configured to produce YUYV output, the CODA must be
configured to produce NV12 macroblock tiled frames and the VDOA must
transform the intermediate result into the final YUYV output.

If the CODA driver is configured to produce NV12 output and the VDOA is
available, the VDOA can be used to transform the custom macroblock tiled
format to a raster-ordered format for scanout.
In this case, set the output format of the CODA to the custom macroblock
tiled format, disable the rotator, and use the VDOA to write to the v4l2
buffer. The VDOA is synchronized with the CODA to always un-tile the
frame that the CODA finished in the previous run.

display_idx refers to the frame that will be returned in the next round.
The currently processed frame is ctx->display_idx and errors should be
reported for this frame.

In order to make the VDOA work correctly, the CODA must produce frames
in tiled format. Print this information in the debug output.
Also print the color format in fourcc instead of the numeric value.

Correctly store the rectangle of valid video data in the destination
q_data before rounding up to macroblock size. This fixes the output
of VIDIOC_G_SELECTION for the capture side compose rectangle.

from a custom macroblock tiled format produced by the CODA960 decoder
into linear formats that can be used for scanout.

A multiplication for the size determination of a memory allocation
indicated that an array data structure should be processed.
Thus use the corresponding function "kmalloc_array".
This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software.

Video capture subdevs may be over I2C and may sleep during xfer, so we
cannot do IRQ-disabled locking when calling the subdev.
The IRQ-disabled locking is meant to protect the DMA queue list
throughout the rest of the driver, so update the locking in
[start|stop]_streaming to protect just this list, and update the irqlock
comment to reflect what it actually protects.

The GeekBox ships with a 12 button remote control which seems to use the
NEC protocol. The button keycodes were captured with the "ir-keytable"
tool (ir-keytable -p $PROTOCOL -t; human_button_pusher).
