The header file linux/uio.h includes crypto/hash.h which pulls in
most of the Crypto API. Since linux/uio.h is used throughout the
kernel this means that every tiny bit of change to the Crypto API
causes the entire kernel to get rebuilt.
This patch fixes this by moving it into lib/iov_iter.c instead
where it is actually used.
This patch also fixes the ifdef to use CRYPTO_HASH instead of just
CRYPTO which does not guarantee the existence of ahash.
Unfortunately a number of drivers were relying on linux/uio.h to
provide access to linux/slab.h. This patch adds inclusions of
linux/slab.h as detected by build failures.
Also skbuff.h was relying on this to provide a declaration for
ahash_request. This patch adds a forward declaration instead.

It's not needed to set driver to NULL in mei_cl_device_remove()
which is bus_type remove() handler as this is done anyway
in __device_release_driver().
Actually this is causing an endless loop in driver_detach()
on ubuntu patched kernel, while removing (rmmod) the mei_hdcp module.
The reason list_empty(&drv->p->klist_devices.k_list) is always not-empty.
as the check is always true in __device_release_driver()
if (dev->driver != drv)
return;
The non upstream patch is causing this behavior, titled:
'vfio -- release device lock before userspace requests'
Nevertheless the fix is correct also for the upstream.

Drivers should not use legacy power management as they have to manage power
states and related operations, for the device, themselves. This driver was
handling them with the help of PCI helper functions like
pci_save/restore_state(), pci_enable/disable_device(), etc.
With generic PM, all essentials will be handled by the PCI core. Driver
needs to do only device-specific operations.
The driver was also using pci_enable_wake(...,..., 0) to disable wake. Use
device_wakeup_disable() instead. It was also saving device register
configuration using pch_phub_save/restore_reg_conf() which is not
recommended.

Drivers should not use legacy power management as they have to manage power
states and related operations, for the device, themselves. This driver was
handling them with the help of PCI helper functions like
pci_save/restore_state(), pci_enable/disable_device(), etc.
With generic PM, all essentials will be handled by the PCI core. Driver
needs to do only device-specific operations.
The driver was also using pci_enable_wake(...,..., 0) to disable wake. Use
device_wakeup_disable() instead.

It seems at least Clang is able to throw away writes it knows are
destined for read-only memory, which makes things like the WRITE_RO test
fail, as the write gets elided. Instead, force the variable to be
volatile, and make similar changes through-out other tests in an effort
to avoid needing to repeat fixing these kinds of problems. Also includes
pr_err() calls in failure paths so that kernel logs are more clear in
the failure case.

In GAUDI the current timer value for the hardware to check if it is
in IDLE state is too low. As a result, there are occasions where the H/W
wrongly reports it is not IDLE. The driver checks that before submitting
work on behalf of the driver during initialization, so a false report might
cause the driver to fail during device initialization.

Since commit 84af7a6194 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over
'---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually
decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances.
This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines,
I also fixed the indentation.
There are a variety of indentation styles found.
a) 4 spaces + '---help---'
b) 7 spaces + '---help---'
c) 8 spaces + '---help---'
d) 1 space + 1 tab + '---help---'
e) 1 tab + '---help---' (correct indentation)
f) 1 tab + 1 space + '---help---'
g) 1 tab + 2 spaces + '---help---'
In order to convert all of them to 1 tab + 'help', I ran the
following commend:
$ find . -name 'Kconfig*' | xargs sed -i 's/^[[:space:]]*---help---/\thelp/'

Patch series "mm: consolidate definitions of page table accessors", v2.
The low level page table accessors (pXY_index(), pXY_offset()) are
duplicated across all architectures and sometimes more than once. For
instance, we have 31 definition of pgd_offset() for 25 supported
architectures.
Most of these definitions are actually identical and typically it boils
down to, e.g.
static inline unsigned long pmd_index(unsigned long address)
{
return (address >> PMD_SHIFT) & (PTRS_PER_PMD - 1);
}
static inline pmd_t *pmd_offset(pud_t *pud, unsigned long address)
{
return (pmd_t *)pud_page_vaddr(*pud) + pmd_index(address);
}
These definitions can be shared among 90% of the arches provided
XYZ_SHIFT, PTRS_PER_XYZ and xyz_page_vaddr() are defined.
For architectures that really need a custom version there is always
possibility to override the generic version with the usual ifdefs magic.
These patches introduce include/linux/pgtable.h that replaces
include/asm-generic/pgtable.h and add the definitions of the page table
accessors to the new header.
This patch (of 12):
The linux/mm.h header includes <asm/pgtable.h> to allow inlining of the
functions involving page table manipulations, e.g. pte_alloc() and
pmd_alloc(). So, there is no point to explicitly include <asm/pgtable.h>
in the files that include <linux/mm.h>.
The include statements in such cases are remove with a simple loop:
for f in $(git grep -l "include <linux/mm.h>") ; do
sed -i -e '/include <asm\/pgtable.h>/ d' $f
done

One new platform gets added, the Realtek RTD1195, which is an older
Cortex-a7 based relative of the RTD12xx chips that are already supported
in arch/arm64. The platform may also be extended to support running
32-bit kernels on those 64-bit chips for memory-constrained machines.
In the Renesas shmobile platform, we gain support for "RZ/G1H" or R8A7742,
an eight-core chip based on Cortex-A15 and Cortex-A7 cores, originally
released in 2016 as one of the last high-end 32-bit designs.
There is ongoing cleanup for the integrator, tegra, imx, and omap2
platforms, with integrator getting very close to the goal of having
zero code in arch/arm/, and omap2 moving more of the chip specifics
from old board code into device tree files.
The Versatile Express platform is made more modular, with built-in
drivers now becoming loadable modules. This is part of a greater effort
for the Android OS to have a common kernel binary for all platforms and
any platform specific code in loadable modules.
The PXA platform drops support for Compulab's pxa2xx boards that had
rather unusual flash and PCI drivers but no known users remaining.
All device drivers specific to those boards can now get removed as
well.
Across platforms, there is ongoing cleanup, with Geert and Rob
revisiting some a lot of Kconfig options.

This fixes the case of get_user_pages_fast() returning a -errno.
The result needs to be stored in a signed integer. And for safe
signed/unsigned comparisons, it's best to keep everything signed.
And get_user_pages_fast() also expects a signed value for number
of pages to pin.
Therefore, change most relevant variables, from u32 to int. Leave
"n" unsigned, for convenience in checking for overflow. And provide
a WARN_ON_ONCE() and early return, if overflow occurs.
Also, as long as we're tidying up: rename the page array from page,
to pages, in order to match the conventions used in most other call
sites.

When the MMU is heavily used by the engines, unmapping might take a lot of
time due to a full MMU cache invalidation done as part of the unmap flow.
Hence we might not be able to kill all open processes before going to hard
reset the device, as it involves unmapping of all user memory.
In case of a failure in killing all open processes, we should stop the
hard reset flow as it might lead to a kernel crash - one thread (killing
of a process) is updating MMU structures that other thread (hard reset) is
freeing.
Stopping a hard reset flow leaves the device as nonoperational and the
user can then initiate a hard reset via sysfs to reinitialize the device.

Add the following two operations to the CS IOCTL:
Signal:
The signal operation is basically a command submission, that is created by
the driver upon user request. It will be implemented using a dedicated PQE
that will increment a specific SOB. There will be a new flag:
HL_CS_FLAGS_SIGNAL. When the user set this flag in the CS IOCTL structure,
the driver will execute a dedicated code path that will prepare this
special PQE and submit it. The user only needs to provide a queue index on
which to put the signal.
Wait:
The wait operation is also a command submission that is created by the
driver upon user request. It will be implemented using a dedicated PQE that
will contain packets of "ARM a monitor" + FENCE packet. There will be a new
flag: HL_CS_FLAGS_WAIT. When the user set this flag in the CS structure,
the driver will execute a dedicated code path that will prepare this
special PQE and submit it.
The user needs to provide the following parameters:
1. queue ID
2. an array of signal_seq numbers and the number of signals to wait on
(the length of signal_seq_arr).
The IOCTL will return the CS sequence number of the wait it put on the
queue ID.
Currently, the code supports signal_seq_nr==1. But this API definition will
allow us to put a single PQE that waits on multiple signals.
To correctly configure the monitor and fence, the driver will need to
retrieve the specified signal CS object that contains the relevant SOB and
its expected value. In case the signal CS has already been completed, there
is no point of adding a wait operation. In this case, the driver will
return to the user *without* putting anything on the PQ. The return code
should reflect to the user that the signal was completed, as we won't
return a CS sequence number for this wait.

Define a structure representing the h/w sync object (SOB).
a SOB can contain up to 2^15 values. Each signal CS will increment the SOB
by 1, so after some time we will reach the maximum number the SOB can
represent. When that happens, the driver needs to move to a different SOB
for the signal operation.
A SOB can be in 1 of 4 states:
1. Working state with value < 2^15
2. We reached a value of 2^15, but the signal operations weren't completed
yet OR there are pending waits on this signal. For the next submission, the
driver will move to another SOB.
3. ALL the signal operations on the SOB have finished AND there are no more
pending waits on the SOB AND we reached a value of 2^15 (This basically
means the refcnt of the SOB is 0 - see explanation below). When that
happens, the driver can clear the SOB by simply doing WREG32 0 to it and
set the refcnt back to 1.
4. The SOB is cleared and can be used next time by the driver when it needs
to reuse an SOB.
Per SOB, the driver will maintain a single refcnt, that will be initialized
to 1. When a signal or wait operation on this SOB is submitted to the PQ,
the refcnt will be incremented. When a signal or wait operation on this SOB
completes, the refcnt will be decremented. After the submission of the
signal operation that increments the SOB to a value of 2^15, the refcnt is
also decremented.

This is a pre-requisite to upstreaming GAUDI support.
Signal/wait operations are done by the user to perform sync between two
Primary Queues (PQs). The sync is done using the sync manager and it is
usually resolved inside the device, but sometimes it can be resolved in the
host, i.e. the user should be able to wait in the host until a signal has
been completed.
The mechanism to define signal and wait operations is done by the driver
because it needs atomicity and serialization, which is already done in the
driver when submitting work to the different queues.
To implement this feature, the driver "takes" a couple of h/w resources,
and this is reflected by the defines added to the uapi file.
The signal/wait operations are done via the existing CS IOCTL, and they use
the same data structure. There is a difference in the meaning of some of
the parameters, and for that we added unions to make the code more

When we have DMA QMAN with multiple streams, we need to know whether the
command buffer contains at least one DMA packet in order to configure the
barriers correctly when adding the 2xMSG_PROT at the end of the JOB. If
there is no DMA packet, then there is no need to put engine barrier. This
is relevant only for GAUDI as GOYA doesn't have streams so the engine can't

When doing training, the DL framework (e.g. tensorflow) performs hundreds
of thousands of memory allocations and mappings. In case the driver needs
to perform hard-reset during training, the driver kills the application and
unmaps all those memory allocations. Unfortunately, because of that large
amount of mappings, the driver isn't able to do that in the current timeout
(5 seconds). Therefore, increase the timeout significantly to 30 seconds
to avoid situation where the driver resets the device with active mappings,
which sometime can cause a kernel bug.
BTW, it doesn't mean we will spend all the 30 seconds because the reset
thread checks every one second if the unmap operation is done.

The only thing that vexpress-syscfg does is provide a regmap to
vexpress-config bus child devices. There's little reason to have 2

requirements makes turning these components into modules more difficult.
So let's start to simplify things and merge vexpress-syscfg into

still separate components until subsequent commits.

vhost is currently broken on the some ARM configs.
The reason is that the ring element addresses are passed between
components with different alignments assumptions. Thus, if
guest selects a pointer and host then gets and dereferences
it, then alignment assumed by the host's compiler might be
greater than the actual alignment of the pointer.
compiler on the host from assuming pointer is aligned.
This actually triggers on ARM with -mabi=apcs-gnu - which is a
deprecated configuration. With this OABI, compiler assumes that
all structures are 4 byte aligned - which is stronger than
virtio guarantees for available and used rings, which are
merely 2 bytes. Thus a guest without -mabi=apcs-gnu running
on top of host with -mabi=apcs-gnu will be broken.
The correct fix is to force alignment of structures - however
that is an intrusive fix that's best deferred until the next release.
We didn't previously support such ancient systems at all - this surfaced
after vdpa support prompted removing dependency of vhost on
VIRTULIZATION. So for now, let's just add something along the lines of
depends on !ARM || AEABI
to the virtio Kconfig declaration, and add a comment that it has to do
with struct member alignment.
Note: we can't make VHOST and VHOST_RING themselves have
a dependency since these are selected. Add a new symbol for that.
We should be able to drop this dependency down the road.

Adding more than 10 pci-endpoint-test devices results in
"kobject_add_internal failed for pci-endpoint-test.1 with -EEXIST, don't
try to register things with the same name in the same directory". This

commit e03327122e ("pci_endpoint_test: Add 2 ioctl commands")
uses module parameter 'irqtype' in pci_endpoint_test_set_irq()
to check if IRQ vectors of a particular type (MSI or MSI-X or
LEGACY) is already allocated. However with multi-function devices,
'irqtype' will not correctly reflect the IRQ type of the PCI device.
Fix it here by adding 'irqtype' for each PCI device to show the
IRQ type of a particular PCI device.

Currently, CONFIG_VHOST depends on CONFIG_VIRTUALIZATION. But vhost is
not necessarily for VM since it's a generic userspace and kernel
communication protocol. Such dependency may prevent archs without
virtualization support from using vhost.
To solve this, a dedicated vhost menu is created under drivers so
CONIFG_VHOST can be decoupled out of CONFIG_VIRTUALIZATION.
While at it, also squash Kconfig.vringh into vhost Kconfig file. This
avoids the trick of conditional inclusion from VOP or CAIF. Then it
will be easier to introduce new vringh users and common dependency for
both vringh and vhost.

The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:
struct foo {
int stuff;
struct boo array[];
};
By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.
Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by
this change:
"Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator
may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of
zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1]

This test is specific for arm64. When in-kernel Pointer Authentication
config is enabled, the return address stored in the stack is signed.
This feature helps in ROP kind of attack. If any parameters used to
generate the pac (<key, sp, lr>) is modified then this will fail in
the authentication stage and will lead to abort.
This test changes the input parameter APIA kernel keys to cause abort.
The pac computed from the new key can be same as last due to hash
collision so this is retried for few times as there is no reliable way
to compare the pacs. Even though this test may fail even after retries
but this may cause authentication failure at a later stage in earlier
function returns.
This test can be invoked as,
echo CORRUPT_PAC > /sys/kernel/debug/provoke-crash/DIRECT

The at24 driver attempts to read a byte from the device to validate that
it's actually present, and if not, disables the vcc regulator and
returns -ENODEV. However, between the read and the error handling path,
pm_runtime_idle() is called and invokes the driver's suspend callback,
which also disables the vcc regulator. This leads to an underflow of the
regulator enable count if the EEPROM is not present.
Move the pm_runtime_suspend() call to be after the error handling path
to resolve this.

When uacce parent device module is removed, user app may
still keep the mmaped area, which can be accessed unsafely.
When rmmod, Parent device driver will call uacce_remove,
which unmap all remaining mapping from user space for safety.
VM_FAULT_SIGBUS is also reported to user space accordingly.

altera_get_note is called from altera_init, where key is kzalloc(33).
When the allocation functions are annotated to allow the compiler to see
the sizes of objects, and with FORTIFY_SOURCE, we see:
In file included from drivers/misc/altera-stapl/altera.c:14:0:
In function ‘strlcpy’,
inlined from ‘altera_init’ at drivers/misc/altera-stapl/altera.c:2189:5:
include/linux/string.h:378:4: error: call to ‘__write_overflow’ declared with attribute error: detected write beyond size of object passed as 1st parameter
__write_overflow();
^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That refers to this code in altera_get_note:
if (key != NULL)
strlcpy(key, &p[note_strings +
get_unaligned_be32(
&p[note_table + (8 * i)])],
length);
The error triggers because the length of 'key' is 33, but the copy
uses length supplied as the 'length' parameter, which is always
256. Split the size parameter into key_len and val_len, and use the
appropriate length depending on what is being copied.
Detected by compiler error, only compile-tested.

Uacce (Unified/User-space-access-intended Accelerator Framework) targets to
provide Shared Virtual Addressing (SVA) between accelerators and processes.
So accelerator can access any data structure of the main cpu.
This differs from the data sharing between cpu and io device, which share
only data content rather than address.
Since unified address, hardware and user space of process can share the
same virtual address in the communication.
Uacce create a chrdev for every registration, the queue is allocated to
the process when the chrdev is opened. Then the process can access the
hardware resource by interact with the queue file. By mmap the queue
file space to user space, the process can directly put requests to the
hardware without syscall to the kernel space.
The IOMMU core only tracks mm<->device bonds at the moment, because it
only needs to handle IOTLB invalidation and PASID table entries. However
uacce needs a finer granularity since multiple queues from the same
device can be bound to an mm. When the mm exits, all bound queues must
be stopped so that the IOMMU can safely clear the PASID table entry and
reallocate the PASID.
An intermediate struct uacce_mm links uacce devices and queues.
Note that an mm may be bound to multiple devices but an uacce_mm
structure only ever belongs to a single device, because we don't need
anything more complex (if multiple devices are bound to one mm, then
we'll create one uacce_mm for each bond).

The MEI message header provides only 9 bits for storing
the message size, limiting to 511.
In theory the host buffer (hbuf) can contain up to 1020 bytes
(limited by byte = 255 * 4)
With the current hardware and hbuf size 512, this is not a real issue,
but as hardening approach we enforce the limit.

During device memory memset, the driver allocates and use a CB (command
buffer). To reuse existing code, it keeps a pointer to the CB in two
variables, user_cb and patched_cb. Therefore, there is no need to "put"
both the user_cb and patched_cb, as it will cause an underflow of the
refcnt of the CB.

enclosures, which fixes replugging a device into an enclosure slot and
one in the disk driver which fixes revalidating a drive with

we were still remembering the old PI state. Both fixed issues are

The second arg of xsdfec_set_order() is a 'void __user *'
and this pointer is then used in get_user() which expect
a __user pointer.
But get_user() can't be used with a void pointer, it a
pointer to the effective type. This is done here by casting
the argument to a pointer to the effective type but the
__user is missing in the cast.
Fix this by adding the missing __user in the cast.

The variables i and flags are being initialized with values that are
never read. The initializations are redundant and can be removed.
