6b0b50b061 mm/THP: add pmd args to pgtable deposit and withdraw APIs
This will be later used by powerpc THP support.  In powerpc we want to use
pgtable for storing the hash index values.  So instead of adding them to
mm_context list, we would like to store them in the second half of pmd

The ath9k Kconfig conflict was a change of a Kconfig option name right
next to the deletion of another option.

The xen-netback conflict was overlapping changes involving the
handling of the notify list in xen_netbk_rx_action().

Batman conflict resolution provided by Antonio Quartulli, basically
keep everything in both conflict hunks.

The nl80211 conflict is a little more involved.  In 'net' we added a
dynamic memory allocation to nl80211_dump_wiphy() to fix a race that
Linus reported.  Meanwhile in 'net-next' the handlers were converted
to use pre and post doit handlers which use a flag to determine
whether to hold the RTNL mutex around the operation.

However, the dump handlers to not use this logic.  Instead they have
to explicitly do the locking.  There were apparent bugs in the
conversion of nl80211_dump_wiphy() in that we were not dropping the
RTNL mutex in all the return paths, and it seems we very much should
be doing so.  So I fixed that whilst handling the overlapping changes.

To simplify the initial returns, I take the RTNL mutex after we try
to allocate 'tb'.

35b03aec91 s390/mem_detect: fix memory hole handling
With git commit 996b4a7d "s390/mem_detect: remove artificial kdump
memory types" the memory detection code got simplified.
As a side effect the array that describes memory chunks may now
contain empty (zeroed) entries.
All call sites can handle this except for

drivers/s390/char/zcore.c::zcore_memmap_open

which has a really odd user space interface. The easiest fix is to
change the memory hole handling code, so that no empty entries exist
before the last valid entry is reached.

aeb87c3cb7 KVM: s390: Fix epsw instruction decoding
The handle_epsw() function calculated the first register in the wrong way,
so that it always used r0 by mistake. Now the code uses the common helper
function for decoding the registers of rre functions instead to avoid such
mistakes.

b764bb1c50 KVM: s390,perf: Detect if perf samples belong to KVM host or guest
This patch is based on an original patch of David Hildenbrand.

The perf core implementation calls architecture specific code in order
to ask for specific information for a particular sample:

perf_instruction_pointer()
When perf core code asks for the instruction pointer, architecture
specific code must detect if a KVM guest was running when the sample
was taken. A sample can be associated with a  KVM guest when the PSW
supervisor state bit is set and the PSW instruction pointer part
contains the address of 'sie_exit'.
A KVM guest's instruction pointer information is then retrieved via
gpsw entry pointed to by the sie control-block.

perf_misc_flags()
perf code code calls this function in order to associate the kernel
vs. user state infomation with a particular sample. Architecture
specific code must also first detectif a KVM guest was running
at the time the sample was taken.

d0321a24bf KVM: s390: Use common waitqueue
Lets use the common waitqueue for kvm cpus on s390. By itself it is
just a cleanup, but it should also improve the accuracy of diag 0x44
which is implemented via kvm_vcpu_on_spin. kvm_vcpu_on_spin has
an explicit check for waiting on the waitqueue to optimize the
yielding.

69d0d3a316 KVM: s390: guest large pages
This patch enables kvm to give large pages to the guest. The heavy
lifting is done by the hardware, the host only has to take care
of the PFMF instruction, which is also part of EDAT-1.

We also support the non-quiescing key setting facility if the host
supports it, to behave similar to the interpretation of sske.

dependencies on !S390 were removed, there are various drivers that can

98f6d1a668 s390/sclp: fix new line detection
When printing multi-line text using sclp_print, line endings are not
correctly handled. The routine is expecting an EBCDIC new line character
as line terminator while the input text is encoded in ASCII format.

Fix this problem by modifying sclp_print to scan for ASCII new line
characters.

9cc5c206d9 s390/dumpstack: fix address ranges for asynchronous and panic stack
git commit dc7ee00d47 "s390: lowcore stack pointer offsets"
introduced a regression in regard to show_stack(). The stack pointer
for the asynchronous and the panic stack in the lowcore now have an
additional offset applied to them. This offset needs to be taken into
account in the calculation for the low and high address for the stacks.

338679f7ba s390/pgtable: Fix guest overindication for change bit
When doing the transition invalid->valid in the host page table for
a guest, then the guest view of C/R is in the pgste. After validation
the view is pgste OR real key. We must zero out the real key C/R to
avoid guest over-indication for change (and reference).

Touching the real key is ok also for the host: The change bit is
tracked via write protection and the reference bit is also ok
because set_pte_at was called and  the page will be touched anyway
soon. Furthermore architecture defines reference as "substantially
accurate", over- and underindication are ok.

'buf[2]' is 2 bytes length, and sprintf() will append '\0' at the end
of string "?\n", so original implementation is memory overflow.

9acf73b7d0 s390/smp: lost IPIs on cpu hotplug
IPIs might be lost when a cpu gets brought offline:

When stop_machine executes its state machine there is a race window
for the state STOPMACHINE_DISABLE_IRQ where the to be brought offline
cpu might already have irqs disabled but a different cpu still may
have irqs enabled.
If the enabled cpu receives an interrupt and as a result sends an IPI
to the to be offlined cpu in its bottom halve context, the IPI won't
be noticed before the cpu is offline.

In fact the race window is much larger since there is no guarantee
when an IPI will be received.

To fix this check for enqueued but not yet received IPIs in the
cpu_disable() path and call the respective handlers before the cpu
is marked offline.

576ebd7492 kernel: Fix s390 absolute memory access for /dev/mem
On s390 the prefix page and absolute zero pages are not correctly
returned when reading /dev/mem. The reason is that the s390 asm/io.h
file includes the asm-generic/io.h file which then defines
xlate_dev_mem_ptr() and therefore overwrites the s390 specific
version that does the correct swap operation for prefix and absolute
zero pages. The problem is a regression that was introduced with git
commit cd248341 (s390/pci: base support).

To fix the problem add "#ifndef xlate_dev_mem_ptr" in asm-generic/io.h
and "#define xlate_dev_mem_ptr" in asm/io.h. This ensures that the
s390 version is used. For completeness also add the "#ifndef"
construct for xlate_dev_kmem_ptr().

f8b5ff2cff s390: fix gmap_ipte_notifier vs. software dirty pages
On heavy paging load some guest cpus started to loop in gmap_ipte_notify.
This was visible as stalled cpus inside the guest. The gmap_ipte_notifier
tries to map a user page and then made sure that the pte is valid and
writable. Turns out that with the software change bit tracking the pte
can become read-only (and only software writable) if the page is clean.
Since we loop in this code, the page would stay clean and, therefore,
be never writable again.
Let us just use fixup_user_fault, that guarantees to call handle_mm_fault.

2c70fe4416 s390/kvm: Kick guests out of sie if prefix page host pte is touched
The guest prefix pages must be mapped writeable all the time
while SIE is running, otherwise the guest might see random
behaviour. (pinned at the pte level) Turns out that mlocking is
not enough, the page table entry (not the page) might change or
become r/o. This patch uses the gmap notifiers to kick guest
cpus out of SIE.

49b99e1e0d s390/kvm: Provide a way to prevent reentering SIE
Lets provide functions to prevent KVM from reentering SIE and
to kick cpus out of SIE. We cannot use the common kvm_vcpu_kick code,
since we need to kick out guests in places that hold architecture
specific locks (e.g. pgste lock) which might be necessary on the
other cpus - so no waiting possible.

So lets provide a bit in a private field of the sie control block
that acts as a gate keeper, after we claimed we are in SIE.
Please note that we do not reuse prog0c, since we want to access
that bit without atomic ops.

0d0dafc1e4 s390/kvm: rename RCP_xxx defines to PGSTE_xxx
The RCP byte is a part of the PGSTE value, the existing RCP_xxx names
are inaccurate. As the defines describe bits and pieces of the PGSTE,
the names should start with PGSTE_. The KVM_UR_BIT and KVM_UC_BIT are
part of the PGSTE as well, give them better names as well.

a4eeea4e53 s390/smp: fix cpu re-scan vs. cpu state
The cpu-info array starts with a list of cpus in configured state,
followed by the cpus in standby state. The comparison to decide which
state a cpu has is incorrect, this causes configured cpus appear as
standby cpus. The correct comparison is the index of the new cpu in
the cpu-info array vs. the number of configured cpus.

bb4b42ce0c s390: fix gmap_ipte_notifier vs. software dirty pages
On heavy paging load some guest cpus started to loop in gmap_ipte_notify.
This was visible as stalled cpus inside the guest. The gmap_ipte_notifier
tries to map a user page and then made sure that the pte is valid and
writable. Turns out that with the software change bit tracking the pte
can become read-only (and only software writable) if the page is clean.
Since we loop in this code, the page would stay clean and, therefore,
be never writable again.
Let us just use fixup_user_fault, that guarantees to call handle_mm_fault.

617e164c35 s390: disable pfmf for clear page instruction
Wit the introduction of large pages Linux also used pfmf for page
clearing. The current implementation is not ideal, though:
- currently we set usage intent=0, but cleared pages are often used
directly after the clearing
- z/VM does not yet provide EDAT
- KVM does have to intercept PFMF even for resident pages

Lets just the mvcl loop in all cases until we have a well defined
pattern were pfmf is besser.

7678dcfb31 s390/disassembler: prevent endless loop in print_fn_code()
If the size of the opcode to be printed is larger than "len" we'll
see an overflow of an unsigned long value, which means that the
while loop within print_fn_code() will loop quite a long time until
there is the next chance for an exit.
So add an early exit check.

e5d709bb5f s390/memory hotplug: provide memory_block_size_bytes() function
Commit 0c2c99b1b "memory hotplug: Allow memory blocks to span
multiple memory sections" introduced a weak memory_block_size_bytes()
function which can be used to set the size of a memory block as
seen in sysfs.
Provide an s390 specific override which makes sure that each
memory block has at least a size of 256MB or the increment size of
of a memory increment, whatever is larger.
This way we can make sure that the number of memory sysfs objects
doesn't explode for very large memory configurations.

df1bd59c5c s390/mem_detect: limit memory detection loop to "mem=" parameter
The current memory detection loop will detect all present memory of
a machine. This is true even if the user specified the "mem=" parameter
on the kernel command line.
This can be a problem since the memory detection may cause a fully
populated host page table for the guest, even for those parts of the
memory that the guest will never use afterwards.

So fix this and only detect memory up to a user supplied "mem=" limit
if specified.

67b5c3eeb4 s390/kdump,bootmem: fix bootmem allocator bitmap size
When in kdump mode the kernel may access only the first couple of
megabytes for execution, the rest contains the dump. However
the size of the bitmap used by the bootmem allocator was calculated
for the whole amount of memory of the machine.

For very large machines this can lead to the situation that the kdump
kernel will not come up because not enough memory is available.

So fix this and calculate the size of the bitmap only for the piece
of memory that the kdump kernel actually uses.

Call reserve_oldmem() before setup_memory_end() so that the memory_chunk
array already has been updated with respect to oldmem chunks.
Afterwards setup_memory_end() will ignore those chunks.

When disabling and enabling interrupts we must tell lockdep.
So use local_irq_save()/restore() to disable and enable interrupts.
The DAT disabling/enabling get handled separately now.
Note: we may not call trace_hardirqs_on() with DAT disabled, since
the generic code may access vmalloc'ed data structures.

446f24d119 Kconfig: consolidate CONFIG_DEBUG_STRICT_USER_COPY_CHECKS
The help text for this config is duplicated across the x86, parisc, and
s390 Kconfig.debug files.  Arnd Bergman noted that the help text was
slightly misleading and should be fixed to state that enabling this
option isn't a problem when using pre 4.4 gcc.

To simplify the rewording, consolidate the text into lib/Kconfig.debug
and modify it there to be more explicit about when you should say N to
this config.

Also, make the text a bit more generic by stating that this option
enables compile time checks so we can cover architectures which emit
warnings vs.  ones which emit errors.  The details of how an
architecture decided to implement the checks isn't as important as the
concept of compile time checking of copy_from_user() calls.

While we're doing this, remove all the copy_from_user_overflow() code
that's duplicated many times and place it into lib/ so that any
architecture supporting this option can get the function for free.

a43cb95d54 dump_stack: unify debug information printed by show_regs()
show_regs() is inherently arch-dependent but it does make sense to print
generic debug information and some archs already do albeit in slightly
different forms.  This patch introduces a generic function to print debug
information from show_regs() so that different archs print out the same
information and it's much easier to modify what's printed.

show_regs_print_info() prints out the same debug info as dump_stack()
does plus task and thread_info pointers.

* Archs which didn't print debug info now do.

  alpha, arc, blackfin, c6x, cris, frv, h8300, hexagon, ia64, m32r,
  metag, microblaze, mn10300, openrisc, parisc, score, sh64, sparc,
  um, xtensa

* Already prints debug info.  Replaced with show_regs_print_info().
  The printed information is superset of what used to be there.

  arm, arm64, avr32, mips, powerpc, sh32, tile, unicore32, x86

* s390 is special in that it used to print arch-specific information
  along with generic debug info.  Heiko and Martin think that the
  arch-specific extra isn't worth keeping s390 specfic implementation.
  Converted to use the generic version.

Note that now all archs print the debug info before actual register
dumps.

196779b9b4 dump_stack: consolidate dump_stack() implementations and unify their behaviors
Both dump_stack() and show_stack() are currently implemented by each
architecture.  show_stack(NULL, NULL) dumps the backtrace for the
current task as does dump_stack().  On some archs, dump_stack() prints
extra information - pid, utsname and so on - in addition to the
backtrace while the two are identical on other archs.

The usages in arch-independent code of the two functions indicate
show_stack(NULL, NULL) should print out bare backtrace while
dump_stack() is used for debugging purposes when something went wrong,
so it does make sense to print additional information on the task which
triggered dump_stack().

There's no reason to require archs to implement two separate but mostly
identical functions.  It leads to unnecessary subtle information.

This patch expands the dummy fallback dump_stack() implementation in
lib/dump_stack.c such that it prints out debug information (taken from
x86) and invokes show_stack(NULL, NULL) and drops arch-specific
dump_stack() implementations in all archs except blackfin.  Blackfin's
dump_stack() does something wonky that I don't understand.

Debug information can be printed separately by calling
dump_stack_print_info() so that arch-specific dump_stack()
implementation can still emit the same debug information.  This is used
in blackfin.

This patch brings the following behavior changes.

* On some archs, an extra level in backtrace for show_stack() could be
  printed.  This is because the top frame was determined in
  dump_stack() on those archs while generic dump_stack() can't do that
  reliably.  It can be compensated by inlining dump_stack() but not
  sure whether that'd be necessary.

* Most archs didn't use to print debug info on dump_stack().  They do
  now.

v2: CPU number added to the generic debug info as requested by s390
    folks and dropped the s390 specific dump_stack().  This loses %ksp
    from the debug message which the maintainers think isn't important
    enough to keep the s390-specific dump_stack() implementation.

    dump_stack_print_info() is moved to kernel/printk.c from
    lib/dump_stack.c.  Because linkage is per objecct file,
    dump_stack_print_info() living in the same lib file as generic
    dump_stack() means that archs which implement custom dump_stack()
    - at this point, only blackfin - can't use dump_stack_print_info()
    as that will bring in the generic version of dump_stack() too.  v1
    The v1 patch broke build on blackfin due to this issue.  The build
    breakage was reported by Fengguang Wu.

0aad818b2d sparse-vmemmap: specify vmemmap population range in bytes
The sparse code, when asking the architecture to populate the vmemmap,
specifies the section range as a starting page and a number of pages.

This is an awkward interface, because none of the arch-specific code
actually thinks of the range in terms of 'struct page' units and always
translates it to bytes first.

In addition, later patches mix huge page and regular page backing for
the vmemmap.  For this, they need to call vmemmap_populate_basepages()
on sub-section ranges with PAGE_SIZE and PMD_SIZE in mind.  But these
are not necessarily multiples of the 'struct page' size and so this unit
is too coarse.

Just translate the section range into bytes once in the generic sparse
code, then pass byte ranges down the stack.

106c992a5e mm/hugetlb: add more arch-defined huge_pte functions
Commit abf09bed3c ("s390/mm: implement software dirty bits")
introduced another difference in the pte layout vs.  the pmd layout on
s390, thoroughly breaking the s390 support for hugetlbfs.  This requires
replacing some more pte_xxx functions in mm/hugetlbfs.c with a
huge_pte_xxx version.

This patch introduces those huge_pte_xxx functions and their generic
implementation in asm-generic/hugetlb.h, which will now be included on
all architectures supporting hugetlbfs apart from s390.  This change
will be a no-op for those architectures.

1c21351b72 s390/pci: use pci_scan_root_bus
The pci config space accessors on s390 are (now) smart enough to
figure out if a pci function is available. So instead of calling
pci_create_root_bus and then pci_scan_single_device for each
available function just call pci_scan_root_bus and let the pci core
do the scanning (via config reads on all possible functions) and
device creation.

Add a pointer to the system call table to the thread_info structure.
The TIF_31BIT bit is set or cleared by SET_PERSONALITY exactly once
for the lifetime of a process. With the pointer to the correct system
call table in thread_info the system call code in entry64.S path can
drop the check for TIF_31BIT which saves a couple of instructions.

s390's statfs[64] definition:

The bug is caused by an implicit sign extension within the stat tool:

out_uint_x (pformat, prefix_len, statfsbuf->f_type);

where the format finally will be "%lx".
A similar problem can be found in the 'tail' tool.
s390 is the only architecture which has an int type f_type member in
struct statfs[64]. Other architectures have either unsigned ints or
long values, so that the problem doesn't occur there.

Therefore change the type of the f_type member to unsigned int, so
that we get zero extension instead of sign extension when assignment to
a long value happens.

This patch changes the s390 uapi struct stafs[64] definition in the kernel
to contain only unsigned values.
This was true for 32 bit builds anyway, since we use the generic uapi
header file in that case. So lets not include conditionally the generic
uapi header file but have the s390 implementation completely independent.

Also fix the types of struct compat_stafs to match reality and move the
definition of struct compat_statfs64 to asm/compat.h since it is not part
of the api.

a2aec0d3e2 s390/compat: fix compat_sys_statfs() memory corruption
The f_spare field within struct compat_statfs is four bytes larger
than within the native 31 bit struct statfs.
compat_sys_statfs() clears the f_spare field in user space which
means that in compat mode four bytes that are behind the user space
supplied struct compat_statfs will be corrupted (zeroed).

According to Thomas Gleixner's Linux 2.6 history tree this bug is
present since v2.5.74 87880da124 "[PATCH] s390: 31 bit compat.".
So it get's fixed shortly before its 10th anniversary. Tough luck.

ab8e523586 s390/mm,gmap: segment mapping race
The gmap_map_segment function creates a special invalid segment table
entry with the address of the requested target location in the process
address space. The first access will create the connection between the
gmap segment table and the target page table of the main process.
If two threads do this concurrently both will walk the page tables and
allocate a gmap_rmap structure for the same segment table entry.
To avoid the race recheck the segment table entry after taking to page
table lock.

The e{uid,gid} --> {uid,gid} credentials fix conflicted with the
cleanup in net-next to now pass cred structs around.

The be2net driver had a bug fix in 'net' that overlapped with the VLAN
interface changes by Patrick McHardy in net-next.

An IGB conflict existed because in 'net' the build_skb() support was
reverted, and in 'net-next' there was a comment style fix within that
code.

Several batman-adv conflicts were resolved by making sure that all
calls to batadv_is_my_mac() are changed to have a new bat_priv first
argument.

Eric Dumazet's TS ECR fix in TCP in 'net' conflicted with the F-RTO
rewrite in 'net-next', mostly overlapping changes.

Commit b4cbb197c7 ("vm: add vm_iomap_memory() helper function") added
a helper function wrapper around io_remap_pfn_range(), and every other
architecture defined it in <asm/pgtable.h>.

The s390 choice of <asm/io.h> may make sense, but is not very convenient
for this case, and gratuitous differences like that cause unexpected errors like this:

pci_disable_device is called by a driver after it stops using the pci
function - e.g. during the removal of the driver. The current
implementation removes the architecture specific information of this
function such that even after a call to pci_enable_device the pci

91c15a9510 s390/hibernate: Save and restore absolute zero pages
Since commit 5f954c34 ([S390] hibernation: fix lowcore handling)
the absolute zero lowcore is lost during suspend/resume.
For example, this leads to the problem that the re-IPL device
for kdump is no longer set after resume.

With this patch during suspend a buffer is allocated in the new PM
notifier "suspend_pm_cb" and then the absolute zero lowcore is saved
to that buffer. The resume code then copies back this buffer to
absolute zero and afterwards the PM notifier releases the memory.

f7f8d7e51d s390/mm: speedup storage key initialization
Use sske with multiple block control to initialize storage keys within
a 1 MB frame at once.
It turned out that the sske with mb=1 is an order of magnitude faster
than pfmf. This is only an issue for very large systems (several 100GB)
where storage key initialization could last more than a minute.

1bca09f714 s390/dumpstack: fix call chain walking
dumpstack() did not always print a sane callchain when being called.
The reason is that show_trace() accessed register 15 directly to get
the current stack pointer and passed that pointer to __show_trace()
which expects a valid stack frame pointer as argument.
However due to tail call optimization the stack frame may not exist
anymore when __show_trace() gets called and therefore an invalid
stack frame pointer gets passed.
To prevent that disable tail call optimization for call chain walking
functions.
So move all the show_* functions to a dumpstack.c file like other
architectures have it already and add a -fno-optimize-sibling-calls
compile flag to both dumpstack.c and stacktrace.c to prevent tail
call optimization.

Fixes callchains that looked e.g. like this:

f752ac4d7d s390/mm: protection exception PSW for aborted transaction
Protection exception usually are suppressing and the fault handler
needs to rewind the PSW by the instruction length to get the correct
fault address. Except for protection exceptions while the CPU is in
the middle of a transaction. The CPU stores the transaction abort
PSW at the start of the transaction, if the transaction is aborted
the PSW is already correct and may not be modified by the fault
handler.

b66ac63e20 s390/kdump: Add PM notifier for kdump
For s390 the page table mapping for the crashkernel memory is removed to
protect the pre-loaded kdump kernel and ramdisk. Because the crashkernel
memory is not included in the page tables for suspend/resume it is not
included in the suspend image. Therefore after resume the resumed system
does no longer contain the pre-loaded kdump kernel and when kdump is
triggered it fails.

This patch adds a PM notifier that creates the page tables before suspend
is done and removes them for resume. This ensures that the kdump kernel
is included in the suspend image.

db4a29cb6a KVM: s390: fix and enforce return code handling for irq injections
kvm_s390_inject_program_int() and friends may fail if no memory is available.
This must be reported to the calling functions, so that this gets passed
down to user space which should fix the situation.
Alternatively we end up with guest state corruption.

So fix this and enforce return value checking by adding a __must_check
annotation to all of these function prototypes.

3736b874a3 KVM: s390: make if statements in lpsw/lpswe handlers readable
Being unable to parse the 5- and 8-line if statements I had to split them
to be able to make any sense of them and verify that they match the
architecture.
So change the code since I guess that other people will also have a hard
time parsing such long conditional statements with line breaks.

Introduce a common is_valid_psw() function which does all the checks needed.
In case of lpsw (64 bit psw -> 128 bit psw conversion) it will do some not
needed additional checks, since a couple of bits can't be set anyway, but
that doesn't hurt.

ace5058763 KVM: s390: fix psw conversion in lpsw handler
When converting a 64 bit psw to a 128 bit psw the addressing mode bit of
the "addr" part of the 64 bit psw must be moved to the basic addressing
mode bit of the "mask" part of the 128 bit psw.
In addition the addressing mode bit must be cleared when moved to the "addr"
part of the 128 bit psw.
Otherwise an invalid psw would be generated if the orginal psw was in the
31 bit addressing mode.

ea81531de2 s390/uaccess: fix page table walk
When translating user space addresses to kernel addresses the follow_table()
function had two bugs:

- PROT_NONE mappings could be read accessed via the kernel mapping. That is
  e.g. putting a filename into a user page, then protecting the page with
  PROT_NONE and afterwards issuing the "open" syscall with a pointer to
  the filename would incorrectly succeed.

- when walking the page tables it used the pgd/pud/pmd/pte primitives which
  with dynamic page tables give no indication which real level of page tables
  is being walked (region2, region3, segment or page table). So in case of an
  exception the translation exception code passed to __handle_fault() is not
  necessarily correct.
  This is not really an issue since __handle_fault() doesn't evaluate the code.
  Only in case of e.g. a SIGBUS this code gets passed to user space. If user
  space can do something sane with the value is a different question though.

To fix these issues don't use any Linux primitives. Only walk the page tables
like the hardware would do it, however we leave quite some checks away since
we know that we only have full size page tables and each index is within bounds.

In theory this should fix all issues...

7d4c04fc17 net: add option to enable error queue packets waking select
Currently, when a socket receives something on the error queue it only wakes up
the socket on select if it is in the "read" list, that is the socket has
something to read. It is useful also to wake the socket if it is in the error
list, which would enable software to wait on error queue packets without waking
up for regular data on the socket. The main use case is for receiving
timestamped transmit packets which return the timestamp to the socket via the
error queue. This enables an application to select on the socket for the error
queue only instead of for the regular traffic.

b7fef2dd72 s390/uaccess: fix clear_user_pt()
The page table walker variant of clear_user() is supposed to copy the
contents of the empty zero page to user space.
However since 238ec4ef "[S390] zero page cache synonyms" empty_zero_page
is not anymore the page itself but contains the pointer to the empty zero
pages. Therefore the page table walker variant of clear_user() copied
the address of the first empty zero page and afterwards more or less
random data to user space instead of clearing the given user space range.

The code can be significantly shortened. There is no functional change,
except that for large (> PAGE_SIZE) copies the guest translation would
be done more frequently.

396083a964 s390/kvm,gaccess: shorten put/get_guest code
The put_guest_u*/get_guest_u* are nothing but wrappers for the regular
put_user/get_user uaccess functions. The only difference is that before
accessing user space the guest address must be translated to a user space
address.
Change the order of arguments for the guest access functions so they
match their uaccess parts. Also remove the u* suffix, so we simply
have put_guest/get_guest which will automatically use the right size
dependent on pointer type of the destination/source that now must be
correct.
In result the same behaviour as put_user/get_user except that accesses
must be aligned.

Let's change to the paradigm that every return code from guest memory
access functions that is not zero translates to -EFAULT and do not
explictly compare.
Explictly comparing the return value with -EFAULT has already shown to
be a bit fragile. In addition this is closer to the handling of
copy_to/from_user functions, which imho is in general a good idea.

Also shorten the return code handling in interrupt.c a bit.

for the guest which reported an addressing exception even if the guest
address was valid.
Let's use the new gmap_translate() which translates a guest address to

Also make it more explicit that for -EFAULT we won't find a vma.

Implement gmap_translate() function which translates a guest absolute address
to a user space process address without establishing the guest page table
entries.

This is useful for kvm guest address translations where no memory access

744b37fb5a s390/kvm,gaccess: fix guest access return code handling
Guest access functions like copy_to/from_guest() call __guestaddr_to_user()
which in turn call gmap_fault() in order to translate a guest address to a
user space address.
In error case __guest_addr_to_user() returns either -EFAULT or -ENOMEM.
The copy_to/from_guest functions just pass these return values down to the
callers.
The -ENOMEM case however is problematic since there are several places
which access guest memory like:

rc = copy_to_guest(...);
if (rc == -EFAULT)
	error_handling();

So in case of -ENOMEM the code assumes that the guest memory access
succeeded even though it failed.
This can cause guest data or state corruption.

If __guestaddr_to_user() returns -ENOMEM the meaning is that a valid user
space mapping exists, but there was not enough memory available when trying
to build the guest mapping. In other words an out-of-memory situation
occured.
For normal user space accesses an out-of-memory situation causes the page
fault handler to map -ENOMEM to -EFAULT (see fixup code in do_no_context()).
We need to do exactly the same for the kvm gaccess functions.

So __guestaddr_to_user() should just map all error codes to -EFAULT.

f6a70a0707 s390/mm: fix flush_tlb_kernel_range()
Our flush_tlb_kernel_range() implementation calls __tlb_flush_mm() with
&init_mm as argument. __tlb_flush_mm() however will only flush tlbs
for the passed in mm if its mm_cpumask is not empty.

For the init_mm however its mm_cpumask has never any bits set. Which in
turn means that our flush_tlb_kernel_range() implementation doesn't
work at all.

This can be easily verified with a vmalloc/vfree loop which allocates
a page, writes to it and then frees the page again. A crash will follow
almost instantly.

To fix this remove the cpumask_empty() check in __tlb_flush_mm() since
there shouldn't be too many mms with a zero mm_cpumask, besides the
init_mm of course.

a7bb1ae749 s390/mm: fix vmemmap size calculation
The size of the vmemmap must be a multiple of PAGES_PER_SECTION, since the
common code always initializes the vmemmap in such pieces.
So we must round up in order to not have a too small vmemmap.

Fixes an IPL crash on 31 bit with more than 1920MB.

6551fbdfd8 s390: critical section cleanup vs. machine checks
The current machine check code uses the registers stored by the machine
in the lowcore at __LC_GPREGS_SAVE_AREA as the registers of the interrupted
context. The registers 0-7 of a user process can get clobbered if a machine
checks interrupts the execution of a critical section in entry[64].S.

The reason is that the critical section cleanup code may need to modify
the PSW and the registers for the previous context to get to the end of a
critical section. If registers 0-7 have to be replaced the relevant copy
will be in the registers, which invalidates the copy in the lowcore. The
machine check handler needs to explicitly store registers 0-7 to the stack.

7f78e03513 fs: Limit sys_mount to only request filesystem modules.
Modify the request_module to prefix the file system type with "fs-"
and add aliases to all of the filesystems that can be built as modules
to match.

A common practice is to build all of the kernel code and leave code
that is not commonly needed as modules, with the result that many
users are exposed to any bug anywhere in the kernel.

Looking for filesystems with a fs- prefix limits the pool of possible
modules that can be loaded by mount to just filesystems trivially
making things safer with no real cost.

Using aliases means user space can control the policy of which
filesystem modules are auto-loaded by editing /etc/modprobe.d/*.conf
with blacklist and alias directives.  Allowing simple, safe,
well understood work-arounds to known problematic software.

This also addresses a rare but unfortunate problem where the filesystem
name is not the same as it's module name and module auto-loading
would not work.  While writing this patch I saw a handful of such
cases.  The most significant being autofs that lives in the module
autofs4.

This is relevant to user namespaces because we can reach the request
module in get_fs_type() without having any special permissions, and
people get uncomfortable when a user specified string (in this case
the filesystem type) goes all of the way to request_module.

After having looked at this issue I don't think there is any
particular reason to perform any filtering or permission checks beyond
making it clear in the module request that we want a filesystem
module.  The common pattern in the kernel is to call request_module()
without regards to the users permissions.  In general all a filesystem
module does once loaded is call register_filesystem() and go to sleep.
Which means there is not much attack surface exposed by loading a
filesytem module unless the filesystem is mounted.  In a user
namespace filesystems are not mounted unless .fs_flags = FS_USERNS_MOUNT,
which most filesystems do not set today.

066c437359 s390/uaccess: fix kernel ds access for page table walk
When the kernel resides in home space and the mvcos instruction is not
available uaccesses for kernel ds happen via simple strnlen() or memcpy()
calls.
This however can break badly, since uaccesses in kernel space may fail as
well, especially if CONFIG_DEBUG_PAGEALLOC is turned on.

To fix this implement strnlen_kernel() and copy_in_kernel() functions
which can only be used by the page table uaccess functions. These two
functions detect invalid memory accesses and return the correct length
of processed data.. Both functions are more or less a copy of the std
variants without sacf calls.

Fixes ipl crashes on 31 bit machines as well on 64 bit machines without
mvcos. Caused by changing the default address space of the kernel being
home space.

225cf8d69c s390/uaccess: fix strncpy_from_user string length check
The "standard" and page table walk variants of strncpy_from_user() first
check the length of the to be copied string in userspace.
The string is then copied to kernel space and the length returned to the
caller.
However userspace can modify the string at any time while the kernel
checks for the length of the string or copies the string. In result the
returned length of the string is not necessarily correct.
Fix this by copying in a loop which mimics the mvcos variant of
strncpy_from_user(), which handles this correctly.

I'm not sure why, but the hlist for each entry iterators were conceived

        list_for_each_entry(pos, head, member)

The hlist ones were greedy and wanted an extra parameter:

        hlist_for_each_entry(tpos, pos, head, member)

Why did they need an extra pos parameter? I'm not quite sure. Not only
they don't really need it, it also prevents the iterator from looking
exactly like the list iterator, which is unfortunate.

Besides the semantic patch, there was some manual work required:

 - Fix up the actual hlist iterators in linux/list.h
 - Fix up the declaration of other iterators based on the hlist ones.
 - A very small amount of places were using the 'node' parameter, this
 was modified to use 'obj->member' instead.
 - Coccinelle didn't handle the hlist_for_each_entry_safe iterator
 properly, so those had to be fixed up manually.

0197518cd3 memory-hotplug: remove memmap of sparse-vmemmap
Introduce a new API vmemmap_free() to free and remove vmemmap
pagetables.  Since pagetable implements are different, each architecture
has to provide its own version of vmemmap_free(), just like
vmemmap_populate().

Note: vmemmap_free() is not implemented for ia64, ppc, s390, and sparc.

24d335ca36 memory-hotplug: introduce new arch_remove_memory() for removing page table
For removing memory, we need to remove page tables.  But it depends on
architecture.  So the patch introduce arch_remove_memory() for removing
page table.  Now it only calls __remove_pages().

Note: __remove_pages() for some archtecuture is not implemented
      (I don't know how to implement it for s390).
