dd67cab5db drm/nouveau/kms/nv50-: clear SW state of disabled windows harder
The most innocuous result of not having done this is that we end up
sending unnecessary methods when we next enable the window.

However, interactions with the code handling skipping disables when
an update immediately follows, and window ownership assignment, can
lead to upsetting the display hardware on Volta and newer.

0ad679d157 drm/nouveau/kms/gt215-: fix race with audio driver runpm
The audio driver can call into nouveau right while we're in the middle
of re-fetching the EDID, and decide it no longer needs to be awake.

Stop depending on EDID in the audio component get_eld() callback, and
instead cache whether audio support is present from the prior modeset.

dc455f4c88 drm/nouveau/dispnv50: fix runtime pm imbalance on error
pm_runtime_get_sync() increments the runtime PM usage counter even
the call returns an error code. Thus a pairing decrement is needed
on the error handling path to keep the counter balanced.

d6a9efece7 drm/nouveau/kms/nv50-: Share DP SST mode_valid() handling with MST
Currently, the nv50_mstc_mode_valid() function is happy to take any and
all modes, even the ones we can't actually support sometimes like
interlaced modes.

Luckily, the only difference between the mode validation that needs to
be performed for MST vs. SST is that eventually we'll need to check the
minimum PBN against the MSTB's full PBN capabilities (remember-we don't
care about the current bw state here). Otherwise, all of the other code
can be shared.

So, we move all of the common mode validation in
nouveau_connector_mode_valid() into a separate helper,
nv50_dp_mode_valid(), and use that from both nv50_mstc_mode_valid() and
nouveau_connector_mode_valid(). Note that we allow for returning the
calculated clock that nv50_dp_mode_valid() came up with, since we'll
eventually want to use that for PBN calculation in
nv50_mstc_mode_valid().

bbdf6a5891 drm/nouveau/kms/nv50-: Move 8BPC limit for MST into nv50_mstc_get_modes()
This just limits the BPC for MST connectors to a maximum of 8 from
nv50_mstc_get_modes(), instead of doing so during
nv50_msto_atomic_check(). This doesn't introduce any functional changes
yet (other then userspace now lying about the max bpc, but we can't
support that yet anyway so meh). But, we'll need this in a moment so
that we can share mode validation between SST and MST which will fix
some real world issues.

We advertise being able to set interlaced modes, so let's actually make
sure to do that. Otherwise, we'll end up hanging the display engine due
to trying to set a mode with timings adjusted for interlacing without
telling the hardware it's actually an interlaced mode.

4a2cb4181b drm/nouveau/kms/nv50-: Probe SOR and PIOR caps for DP interlacing support
Right now, we make the mistake of allowing interlacing on all
connectors. Nvidia hardware does not always support interlacing with DP
though, so we need to make sure that we don't allow interlaced modes to
be set in such situations as otherwise we'll end up accidentally hanging
the display HW.

This fixes some hangs with Turing, which would be caused by attempting
to set an interlaced mode on hardware that doesn't support it. This
patch likely fixes other hardware hanging in the same way as well.

Note that we say we probe PIOR caps, but they don't actually have any
interlacing caps. So, the get_caps() function for PIORs just sets
interlacing support to true.

fa1232ea84 drm/nouveau/kms/nv50-: Initialize core channel in nouveau_display_create()
We'll need the core channel initialized and ready by the time that we
start creating modesetting objects, so that we can call the
NV507D_GET_CAPABILITIES method to make the hardware expose it's
modesetting capabilities for later probing.

So, when loading the driver prepare the core channel from within
nouveau_display_create(). Everywhere else, we initialize the core
channel during resume.

61a41097e4 drm/nouveau/kms: Fix regression by audio component transition
Since the commit 742db30c4e ("drm/nouveau: Add HD-audio component
notifier support"), the nouveau driver notifies and pokes the HD-audio
HPD and ELD via audio component, but this seems broken.  The culprit
is the naive assumption that crtc->index corresponds to the HDA pin.
Actually this rather corresponds to the MST dev_id (alias "pipe" in
the audio component framework) while the actual port number is given
from the output ior id number.

This patch corrects the assignment of port and dev_id arguments in the
audio component ops to recover from the HDMI/DP audio regression.

Allow setting the block layout of a nouveau FB
object using DRM format modifiers.  When
specified, the format modifier block layout and
kind overrides the GEM buffer's implicit layout
and kind.  The specified format modifier is
validated against the list of modifiers supported
by the target display hardware.

1834058792 drm/nouveau/kms: Remove field nvbo from struct nouveau_framebuffer
The buffer object stored in nvbo is also available GEM object in obj[0]
of struct drm_framebuffer. Therefore remove nvbo in favor obj[0] and
replace all references accordingly. This may require an additional cast.

With this change we can already replace nouveau_user_framebuffer_destroy()
and nouveau_user_framebuffer_create_handle() with generic GEM helpers.
Calls to nouveau_framebuffer_new() receive a GEM object.

cce81ba6b7 drm: Remove drm dp mst destroy_connector callbacks
drm_dp_mst_topology_mgr_cbs.destroy_connector callbacks are identical
amongst every driver and don't do anything other than cleaning up the
connector((drm_connector_unregister()/drm_connector_put())) except for
amdgpu_dm driver where some amdgpu_dm specific code in there.

This connector cleaning up is now being handled in the drm core so
driver destroy_connector callbacks are not needed (except for
amdgpu_dm) hence remove them.

615eff35d4 drm: Remove dp mst register connector callbacks
drm_dp_mst_port_add_connector() directly calls the
drm_connector_register() now and
drm_dp_mst_topology_mgr_cbs.register_connector callback is not getting
called anymore.

Hence remove all drm_dp_mst_topology_mgr_cbs.register_connector
callbacks.

This is the preparatory step for removing the
drm_dp_mst_topology_mgr_cbs.register_connector callback hook.

ff1f62d35b drm: Remove drm_fb_helper add, add all and remove connector calls
drm_fb_helper_{add,remove}_one_connector() and
drm_fb_helper_single_add_all_connectors() are dummy functions now
and serve no purpose. Hence remove their calls.

This is the preparatory step for removing the
drm_fb_helper_{add,remove}_one_connector() functions from
drm_fb_helper.h

This removal is done using below sementic patch and unused variable
compilation warnings are fixed manually.

f287d3d197 drm/nouveau/kms/gv100-: Re-set LUT after clearing for modesets
While certain modeset operations on gv100+ need us to temporarily
disable the LUT, we make the mistake of sometimes neglecting to
reprogram the LUT after such modesets. In particular, moving a head from
one encoder to another seems to trigger this quite often. GV100+ is very
picky about having a LUT in most scenarios, so this causes the display
engine to hang with the following error code:

disp: chid 1 stat 00005080 reason 5 [INVALID_STATE] mthd 0200 data
00000001 code 0000002d)

So, fix this by always re-programming the LUT if we're clearing it in a
state where the wndw is still visible, and has a XLUT handle programmed.

137c4ba716 drm/nouveau/kms/gv100-: avoid sending a core update until the first modeset
The OR routing logic in NVKM does not expect to receive supervisor
interrupts until the DD has provided consistent information on the
ORs it's using and the EVO/NVD assembly state to match.

The combination of changing window ownership + core channel update
during display init triggered a situation where we'd disconnect an
OR from the pad it was meant to still be driving on some systems.

For various complicated reasons, we need to avoid sending a core update
method during display init.  Something, which we've been required to do
on GV100 and up because we've been assigning windows to heads there and
the HW is rather picky about when that's allowed.

This moves window assignment into the modesetting path at a point where
it's much safer to send our first update methods to NVDisplay.

742db30c4e drm/nouveau: Add HD-audio component notifier support
This patch adds the support for the notification of HD-audio hotplug
via the already existing drm_audio_component framework.  This allows
us more reliable hotplug notification and ELD transfer without
accessing HD-audio bus; it's more efficient, and more importantly, it
works without waking up the runtime PM.

The implementation is rather simplistic: nouveau driver provides the
get_eld ops for HD-audio, and it notifies the audio hotplug via
pin_eld_notify callback upon each nv50_audio_enable() and _disable()
call.  As the HD-audio pin assignment seems corresponding to the CRTC,
the crtc->index number is passed directly as the zero-based port
number.

5ff0cb1ce2 drm/nouveau/kms/nv50-: Use less encoders by making mstos per-head
Currently, for every single MST capable DRM connector we create a set of
fake encoders, one for each possible head. Unfortunately this ends up
being a huge waste of encoders. While this currently isn't causing us
any problems, it's extremely close to doing so.

The ThinkPad P71 is a good example of this. Originally when trying to
figure out why nouveau was failing to load on this laptop, I discovered
it was because nouveau was creating too many encoders. This ended up
being because we were mistakenly creating MST encoders for the eDP port,
however we are still extremely close to hitting the encoder limit on
this machine as it exposes 1 eDP port and 5 DP ports, resulting in 31
encoders.

So while this fix didn't end up being necessary to fix the P71, we still
need to implement this so that we avoid hitting the encoder limit for
valid display configurations in the event that some machine with more
connectors then this becomes available. Plus, we don't want to let good
code go to waste :)

So, use less encoders by only creating one MSTO per head. Then, attach
each new MSTC to each MSTO which corresponds to a head that it's parent
DP port is capable of using. This brings the number of encoders we
register on the ThinkPad P71 from 31, down to just 15. Yay!

When drm_connector_helper_funcs->atomic_best_encoder is defined,
->best_encoder is ignored by the atomic modesetting helpers. That being
said, this hook is completely broken anyway - it always returns the
first msto for a given mstc, despite the fact it might already be in
use.

So, just get rid of it. We'll need this in a moment anyway, when we make
mstos per-head as opposed to per-connector.

variable. The default divider does not take FEC into account.

ae5769d467 drm/nouveau/kms/nv50-: Limit MST BPC to 8
Noticed this while working on some unrelated CRC stuff. Currently,
userspace has very little support for BPCs higher than 8. While this
doesn't matter for most things, on MST topologies we need to be careful
about ensuring that we do our best to make any given display
configuration fit within the bandwidth restraints of the topology, since
otherwise less people's monitor configurations will work.

Allowing for BPC settings higher than 8 dramatically increases the
required bandwidth for displays in most configurations, and consequently
makes it a lot less likely that said display configurations will pass
the atomic check.

In the future we want to fix this correctly by making it so that we
adjust the bpp for each display in a topology to be as high as possible,
while making sure to lower the bpp of each display in the event that we
run out of bandwidth and need to rerun our atomic check. But for now,
follow the behavior that both i915 and amdgpu are sticking to.

ac2d9275f3 drm/nouveau/kms/nv50-: Store the bpc we're using in nv50_head_atom
In order to be able to use bpc values that are different from what the
connector reports, we want to be able to store the bpc value we decide
on using for an atomic state in nv50_head_atom and refer to that instead
of simply using the value that the connector reports throughout the
whole atomic check phase and commit phase. This will let us (eventually)
implement the max bpc connector property, and will also be needed for
limiting the bpc we use on MST displays to 8 in the next commit.

6f85f73821 drm/dp_mst: Add basic topology reprobing when resuming
Finally! For a very long time, our MST helpers have had one very
annoying issue: They don't know how to reprobe the topology state when
coming out of suspend. This means that if a user has a machine connected
to an MST topology and decides to suspend their machine, we lose all
topology changes that happened during that period. That can be a big
problem if the machine was connected to a different topology on the same
port before resuming, as we won't bother reprobing any of the ports and
likely cause the user's monitors not to come back up as expected.

So, we start fixing this by teaching our MST helpers how to reprobe the
link addresses of each connected topology when resuming. As it turns
out, the behavior that we want here is identical to the behavior we want
when initially probing a newly connected MST topology, with a couple of
important differences:

- We need to be more careful about handling the potential races between
  events from the MST hub that could change the topology state as we're
  performing the link address reprobe
- We need to be more careful about handling unlikely state changes on
  ports - such as an input port turning into an output port, something
  that would be far more likely to happen in situations like the MST hub
  we're connected to being changed while we're suspend

Both of which have been solved by previous commits. That leaves one
requirement:

- We need to prune any MST ports in our in-memory topology state that
  were present when suspending, but have not appeared in the post-resume
  link address response from their parent branch device

Which we can now handle in this commit by modifying
drm_dp_send_link_address(). We then introduce suspend/resume reprobing
by introducing drm_dp_mst_topology_mgr_invalidate_mstb(), which we call
in drm_dp_mst_topology_mgr_suspend() to traverse the in-memory topology
state to indicate that each mstb needs it's link address resent and PBN
resources reprobed.

On resume, we start back up &mgr->work and have it reprobe the topology
in the same way we would on a hotplug, removing any leftover ports that
no longer appear in the topology state.

* Only fire hotplugs when something has actually changed after a link
  address probe

This is a complicated one. Essentially, there's currently a problem in the MST
core that hasn't really caused any issues that we're aware of (emphasis on "that
we're aware of"): locking.

When we go through and probe the link addresses and path resources in a
topology, we hold no locks when updating ports with said information. The
members I'm referring to in particular are:

- ldps
- ddps
- mcs
- pdt
- dpcd_rev
- num_sdp_streams
- num_sdp_stream_sinks
- available_pbn
- input
- connector

Now that we're handling UP requests asynchronously and will be using some of
the struct members mentioned above in atomic modesetting in the future for
features such as PBN validation, this is going to become a lot more important.
As well, the next few commits that prepare us for and introduce suspend/resume
reprobing will also need clear locking in order to prevent from additional
racing hilarities that we never could have hit in the past.

So, let's solve this issue by using &mgr->base.lock, the modesetting
lock which currently only protects &mgr->base.state. This works
perfectly because it allows us to avoid blocking connection_mutex
unnecessarily, and we can grab this in connector detection paths since
it's a ww mutex. We start by having drm_dp_mst_handle_up_req() hold this
when updating ports. For drm_dp_mst_handle_link_address_port() things
are a bit more complicated. As I've learned the hard way, we can grab
&mgr->lock.base for everything except for port->connector. See, our
normal driver probing paths end up generating this rather obvious
lockdep chain:

&drm->mode_config.mutex
  -> crtc_ww_class_mutex/crtc_ww_class_acquire
    -> &connector->mutex

However, sysfs grabs &drm->mode_config.mutex in order to protect itself
from connector state changing under it. Because this entails grabbing
kn->count, e.g. the lock that the kernel provides for protecting sysfs
contexts, we end up grabbing kn->count followed by
&drm->mode_config.mutex. This ends up creating an extremely rude chain:

&kn->count
  -> &drm->mode_config.mutex
    -> crtc_ww_class_mutex/crtc_ww_class_acquire
      -> &connector->mutex

I mean, look at that thing! It's just evil!!! This gross thing ends up
making any calls to drm_connector_register()/drm_connector_unregister()
impossible when holding any kind of modesetting lock. This is annoying
because ideally, we always want to ensure that
drm_dp_mst_port->connector never changes when doing an atomic commit or
check that would affect the atomic topology state so that it can
reliably and easily be used from future DRM DP MST helpers to assist
with tasks such as scanning through the current VCPI allocations and
adding connectors which need to have their allocations updated in
response to a bandwidth change or the like.

Being able to hold &mgr->base.lock throughout the entire link probe
process would have been _great_, since we could prevent userspace from
ever seeing any states in-between individual port changes and as a
result likely end up with a much faster probe and more consistent
results from said probes. But without some rework of how we handle
connector probing in sysfs it's not at all currently possible. In the
future, maybe we can try using the sysfs locks to protect updates to
connector probing state and fix this mess.

So for now, to protect everything other than port->connector under
&mgr->base.lock and ensure that we still have the guarantee that atomic
check/commit contexts will never see port->connector change we use a
silly trick. See: port->connector only needs to change in order to
ensure that input ports (see the MST spec) never have a ghost connector
associated with them. But, there's nothing stopping us from simply
throwing the entire port out and creating a new one in order to maintain
that requirement while still keeping port->connector consistent across
the lifetime of the port in atomic check/commit contexts. For all
intended purposes this works fine, as we validate ports in any contexts
we care about before using them and as such will end up reporting the
connector as disconnected until it's port's destruction finalizes. So,
we just do that in cases where we detect port->input has transitioned
from true->false. We don't need to worry about the other direction,
since a port without a connector isn't visible to userspace and as such
doesn't need to be protected by &mgr->base.lock until we finish
registering a connector for it.

For updating members of drm_dp_mst_port other than port->connector, we
simply grab &mgr->base.lock in drm_dp_mst_link_probe_work() for already
registered ports, update said members and drop the lock before
potentially registering a connector and probing the link address of it's
children.

Finally, we modify drm_dp_mst_detect_port() to take a modesetting lock
acquisition context in order to acquire &mgr->base.lock under
&connection_mutex and convert all it's users over to using the
.detect_ctx probe hooks.

With that, we finally have well defined locking.

Changes since v4:
* Get rid of port->mutex, stop using connection_mutex and just use our own
  modesetting lock - mgr->base.lock. Also, add a probe_lock that comes
  before this patch.
* Just throw out ports that get changed from an output to an input, and
  replace them with new ports. This lets us ensure that modesetting
  contexts never see port->connector go from having a connector to being
  NULL.
* Write an extremely detailed explanation of what problems this is
  trying to fix, since there's a _lot_ of context here and I honestly
  forgot some of it myself a couple times.
* Don't grab mgr->lock when reading port->mstb in
  drm_dp_mst_handle_link_address_port(). It's not needed.

It's the only flag anyone actually cares about. Plus if we're unlucky,
the atomic ioctl might need a different flag for async flips. So
better to abstract this away from the uapi a bit.
