e0a65e3c5e sfc: protect list of RSS contexts under a mutex
Otherwise races are possible between ethtool ops and
 efx_ef10_rx_restore_rss_contexts().
Also, don't try to perform the restore on every reset, only after an MC
 reboot, otherwise we'll leak RSS contexts on the NIC.

3af0f34290 sfc: replace asynchronous filter operations
Instead of having an efx->type->filter_rfs_insert() method, just use
 workitems with a worker function that calls efx->type->filter_insert().
The only user of this is efx_filter_rfs(), which now queues a call to
 efx_filter_rfs_work().
Similarly, efx_filter_rfs_expire() is now a worker function called on a
 new channel->filter_work work_struct, so the method
 efx->type->filter_rfs_expire_one() is no longer called in atomic context.
 We also add a new mutex efx->rps_mutex to protect the RPS state (efx->
 rps_expire_channel, efx->rps_expire_index, and channel->rps_flow_id) so
 that the taking of efx->filter_lock can be moved to
 efx->type->filter_rfs_expire_one().
Thus, all filter table functions are now called in a sleepable context,
 allowing them to use sleeping locks in a future patch.

c2ab85d2da sfc: support the ethtool ksettings API properly so that 25/50/100G works
Store and handle ethtool link mode masks within the driver instead of
 just a single u32. However, quite a significant amount of existing code
 wants to manipulate the masks directly, and thus now uses the first
 unsigned long (i.e. mask[0]) as though it were a legacy u32 mask. This
 is ok because all the bits that code is interested in are in the first
 32 bits of the mask; but it might be a good idea to change them in
 future to use the proper bitmap API.

539de7c524 sfc: set interrupt moderation via MCDI
SFN8000-series NICs require a new method of setting interrupt moderation,
via MCDI. This is indicated by a workaround flag. This new MCDI command
takes an explicit time value rather than a number of ticks. It therefore
makes sense to also store the moderation values in terms of time, since
that is what the ethtool interface is interested in.

b0fbdae127 sfc: Allow driver to cope with a lower number of VIs than it needs for RSS
Previously, the driver would refuse to load if it couldn't secure
enough VIs from the MC to fulfill its RSS requirements.
This was causing probe to fail on later functions in
configurations where we'd run out of VIs, such as having many
VFs.

This change allows the driver to load with fewer VIs, down to a
minimum of 2. A warning will be printed saying that RSS
requirements were not met, possibly affecting performance.

efx->max_tx_channels needs to be set to avoid going down the
failure path in efx_probe_nic() immediately in the loop after the
probe() NIC-type function.
Also, Set rc=ENOSPC when bombing out of efx_probe_nic due to lack

0d322413d6 sfc: protect filter table against use-after-free
If MCDI timeouts are encountered during efx_ef10_filter_table_remove(),
an FLR will be queued, but efx->filter_state will still be kfree()d.
The queued FLR will then call efx_ef10_filter_table_restore(), which
will try to use efx->filter_state. This previously caused a panic.
This patch adds an rwsem to protect the existence of efx->filter_state,
separately from the spinlock protecting its contents. Users which can
race against efx_ef10_filter_table_remove() should down_read this rwsem.

By putting all the efx_{siena,ef10}_sriov_* declarations in

Also fixes up an instance of this, where mcdi.c was calling

d9317aea16 sfc: Use the correct maximum TX DMA ring size for SFC9100
As part of a workaround for a hardware erratum in the SFC9100 family
(SF bug 35388), the TX_DESC_UPD_DWORD register address is also used
for communicating with the event block, and only descriptor pointer
values < 2048 are valid.

If the TX DMA ring size is increased to 4096 descriptors (which the
firmware still allows) then we may write a descriptor pointer
value >= 2048, which has entirely different and undesirable effects!

Limit the TX DMA ring size correctly when this workaround is in
effect.

7665d1abea sfc: Change priority and flags for automatic MAC filters
MAC filters inserted automatically by the driver, based on the device
address list (EF10) or no-match filters (Siena), should be overridable
at MANUAL or REQUIRED priority. Currently they themselves have
REQUIRED priority and this requires some odd special-casing.

We also can't reliably tell whether such a MAC filter has or has
not been overridden. We just remember that it is wanted by the
stack (RX_STACK flag).

Add another priority level, AUTO, between HINT and MANUAL, and
use this for the automatic filters while they have not been
overridden. Remove the RX_STACK flag. Add an RX_OVER_AUTO
flag which is set only when an AUTO filter has been overridden
(or was requested to be inserted while a higher-priority filter
existed).

183233bec8 sfc: Allocate and link PIO buffers; map them with write-combining
Try to allocate a segment of PIO buffer to each TX channel. If
allocation fails, log an error but continue.

PIO buffers must be mapped separately from the NIC registers, with
write-combining enabled. Where the host page size is 4K, we could
potentially map each VI's registers and PIO buffer separately.
However, this would add significant complexity, and we also need to
support architectures such as POWER which have a greater page size.
So make a single contiguous write-combining mapping after the
uncacheable mapping, aligned to the host page size, and link PIO
buffers there. Where necessary, allocate additional VIs within
the write-combining mapping purely for access to PIO buffers.

Link all TX buffers to TX queues and the additional VIs in
efx_ef10_dimension_resources() and in efx_ef10_init_nic() after
an MC reboot.

e42c3d85af sfc: Refactor queue teardown sequence to allow for EF10 flush behaviour
Currently efx_stop_datapath() will try to flush our DMA queues (if DMA

85740cdf0b sfc: Enable RX DMA scattering where possible
Enable RX DMA scattering iff an RX buffer large enough for the current
MTU will not fit into a single page and the NIC supports DMA
scattering for kernel-mode RX queues.

On Falcon and Siena, the RX_USR_BUF_SIZE field is used as the DMA
limit for both all RX queues with scatter enabled. Set it to 1824,
matching what Onload uses now.

Maintain a statistic for frames truncated due to lack of descriptors
(rx_nodesc_trunc). This is distinct from rx_frm_trunc which may be
incremented when scattering is disabled and implies an over-length
frame.

Whenever an MTU change causes scattering to be turned on or off,
update filters that point to the PF queues, but leave others
unchanged, as VF drivers assume scattering is off.

Add n_frags parameters to various functions, and make them iterate:

- efx_rx_deliver()

Make efx_handle_rx_event() responsible for updating

The pipeline mechanism will need to change a bit for scattered
packets. Add a wrapper to insulate efx_process_channel() from this.

35205b211c sfc: Disable soft interrupt handling during efx_device_detach_sync()
efx_device_detach_sync() locks all TX queues before marking the device
detached and thus disabling further TX scheduling. But it can still
be interrupted by TX completions which then result in TX scheduling in
soft interrupt context. This will deadlock when it tries to acquire
a TX queue lock that efx_device_detach_sync() already acquired.

To avoid deadlock, we must use netif_tx_{,un}lock_bh().

c2f3b8e3a4 sfc: lock TX queues when calling netif_device_detach()
The assertion of netif_device_present() at the top of
efx_hard_start_xmit() may fail if we don't do this.

c31e5f9f97 sfc: Add channel specific receive_skb handler and post_remove callback
Allows an extra channel to override the standard receive_skb handler
and also for extra non generic operations to be performed on remove.

Also set default rx strategy so only skbs can be delivered to the
PTP receive function.

7e6d06f0de sfc: Fix maximum number of TSO segments and minimum TX queue size
Currently an skb requiring TSO may not fit within a minimum-size TX
queue. The TX queue selected for the skb may stall and trigger the TX
watchdog repeatedly (since the problem skb will be retried after the
TX reset). This issue is designated as CVE-2012-3412.

Set the maximum number of TSO segments for our devices to 100. This
should make no difference to behaviour unless the actual MSS is less
than about 700. Increase the minimum TX queue size accordingly to
allow for 2 worst-case skbs, so that there will definitely be space
to add an skb after we wake a queue.

To avoid invalidating existing configurations, change
efx_ethtool_set_ringparam() to fix up values that are too small rather
than returning -EINVAL.

7f967c011a sfc: Add support for 'extra' channel types
Abstract some of the channel operations to allow for 'extra'
channels that do not have RX or TX queues.

- Try to assign a channel to each extra channel type that is enabled
  for the NIC, but gracefully degrade if we can't allocate sufficient
  MSI-X vectors
- Allow each extra channel type to generate its own channel name
- Allow channel types to disable reallocation and reinitialisation
  of their channels
