The function mdelay in it can be replaced with msleep, to reduce busy wait.

The network stack no longer uses the last_rx member of struct net_device
since the bonding driver switched to use its own private last_rx in
commit 9f24273837 ("bonding: use last_arp_rx in slave_last_rx()").
However, some drivers still (ab)use the field for their own purposes and
some driver just update it without actually using it.
Previously, there was an accompanying comment for the last_rx member
added in commit 4dc89133f4 ("net: add a comment on netdev->last_rx")
which asked drivers not to update is, unless really needed. However,
this commend was removed in commit f8ff080dac ("bonding: remove
useless updating of slave->dev->last_rx"), so some drivers added later
on still did update last_rx.
Remove all usage of last_rx and switch three drivers (sky2, atp and
smc91c92_cs) which actually read and write it to use their own private
copy in netdev_priv.
Compile-tested with allyesconfig and allmodconfig on x86 and arm.

The network device operation for reading statistics is only called
in one place, and it ignores the return value. Having a structure
return value is potentially confusing because some future driver could
incorrectly assume that the return value was used.
Fix all drivers with ndo_get_stats64 to have a void function.

All conflicts were simple overlapping changes except perhaps
for the Thunder driver.
That driver has a change_mtu method explicitly for sending
a message to the hardware. If that fails it returns an
error.
Normally a driver doesn't need an ndo_change_mtu method becuase those
are usually just range changes, which are now handled generically.
But since this extra operation is needed in the Thunder driver, it has
to stay.
However, if the message send fails we have to restore the original
MTU before the change because the entire call chain expects that if
an error is thrown by ndo_change_mtu then the MTU did not change.
Therefore code is added to nicvf_change_mtu to remember the original
MTU, and to restore it upon nicvf_update_hw_max_frs() failue.

This is caused by the sky2 being called after it has been shutdown.

An alternative fix is to assure that IFF_UP gets cleared by
calling dev_close() during shutdown. This is similar to what the
bnx2/tg3/xgene and maybe others are doing to assure that the driver
isn't being called following _shutdown().

The name NETIF_F_ALL_CSUM is a misnomer. This does not correspond to the
set of features for offloading all checksums. This is a mask of the
checksum offload related features bits. It is incorrect to set both
NETIF_F_HW_CSUM and NETIF_F_IP_CSUM or NETIF_F_IPV6 at the same time for
features of a device.
This patch:
- Changes instances of NETIF_F_ALL_CSUM to NETIF_F_CSUM_MASK (where
NETIF_F_ALL_CSUM is being used as a mask).
- Changes bonding, sfc/efx, ipvlan, macvlan, vlan, and team drivers to
use NEITF_F_HW_CSUM in features list instead of NETIF_F_ALL_CSUM.

On some embedded systems the EEPROM does not contain a valid MAC address.
In that case it is better to fallback to a generated mac address and
let init scripts fix the value later.

In sky2_change_mtu setting B0_IMSK to 0 may be delayed due to PCI write posting
which could result in irqs being still active when synchronize_irq is called.
Since we are not prepared to handle any further irqs after synchronize_irq
(our resources are freed after that) force the write by a consecutive read from
the same register.
Similar situation in sky2_all_down: Here we disabled irqs by a write to B0_IMSK
but did not ensure that this write took place before synchronize_irq. Fix that
too.

If sky2->tx_le = pci_alloc_consistent() or sky2->tx_ring = kcalloc() in
sky2_alloc_buffers() fails, sky2->rx_ring = kcalloc() will never be called.
In this error case handling, sky2_rx_clean() is called from within
sky2_free_buffers().
In sky2_rx_clean() we find the following:
...
memset(sky2->rx_le, 0, RX_LE_BYTES);
...
This results in a memset using a NULL pointer and will crash the system.

is incorrect driver behavior.
This matters as netpoll will shortly call drivers with a budget of 0

Replace the bh safe variant with the hard irq safe variant.
We need a hard irq safe variant to deal with netpoll transmitting
packets from hard irq context, and we need it in most if not all of
the places using the bh safe variant.
Except on 32bit uni-processor the code is exactly the same so don't
bother with a bh variant, just have a hard irq safe variant that
everyone can use.

need to have been programmed by the bootloader. This patch adds
the ability to pull the mac from devicetree via the pci device dt node.

In order to enable lockdep on seqcount/seqlock structures, we
must explicitly initialize any locks.
The u64_stats_sync structure, uses a seqcount, and thus we need
to introduce a u64_stats_init() function and use it to initialize
the structure.
This unfortunately adds a lot of fairly trivial initialization code
to a number of drivers. But the benefit of ensuring correctness makes
this worth while.
Because these changes are required for lockdep to be enabled, and the
changes are quite trivial, I've not yet split this patch out into 30-some
separate patches, as I figured it would be better to get the various
maintainers thoughts on how to best merge this change along with
the seqcount lockdep enablement.

After recent 86a9bad3 (net: vlan: add protocol argument to packet
tagging functions) my sky2 started to crash on receive of tagged
frames, with backtrace similar to

The problem turned out to be:
1) sky2 copies small packets from ring on RX, and in its
receive_copy() skb header is copied manually field, by field, and
only for some fields;
2) 86a9bad3 added skb->vlan_proto, which vlan_untag() or
__vlan_hwaccel_put_tag() set, and which is later used in
vlan_do_receive().
That patch updated copy_skb_header() for newly introduced
skb->vlan_proto, but overlooked the need to also copy it in sky2's
receive_copy().
Because of 2, we have the following scenario:
- frame is received and tagged in a ring, by sky2_rx_tag(). Both
skb->vlan_proto and skb->vlan_tci are set;
- later skb is decided to be copied, but skb->vlan_proto is
forgotten and becomes 0.
- in the beginning of vlan_do_receive() we call
__be16 vlan_proto = skb->vlan_proto;
vlan_dev = vlan_find_dev(skb->dev, vlan_proto, vlan_id);
which eventually invokes
vlan_proto_idx(vlan_proto)
and that routine BUGs for everything except ETH_P_8021Q and
ETH_P_8021AD.
Oops.
Fix it.

Stephen, I wonder, why copy_skb_header() is not used in
sky2.c::receive_copy() ? Problems, where receive_copy was updated field
by field showed several times already, e.g.

Add a protocol argument to the VLAN packet tagging functions. In case of HW
tagging, we need that protocol available in the ndo_start_xmit functions,
so it is stored in a new field in the skb. The new field fits into a hole
(on 64 bit) and doesn't increase the sks's size.

Rename the hardware VLAN acceleration features to include "CTAG" to indicate
that they only support CTAGs. Follow up patches will introduce 802.1ad
server provider tagging (STAGs) and require the distinction for hardware not
supporting acclerating both.

The sky2 driver sets the Rx Upper Threshold for Pause Packet generation to a
wrong value which leads to only 2kB of RAM remaining space. This can lead to
Rx overflow errors even with activated flow-control.

The __dev* removal patches for the network drivers ended up messing up
the function prototypes for a bunch of drivers. This patch fixes all of
them back up to be properly aligned.
Bonus is that this almost removes 100 lines of code, always a nice
surprise.

The cleanup sequence in sky2_probe() that is called in case of an error is
mixed up in different places:
- pci_disable_device() is not called in each case the device has been enabled
before
- same for pci_disable_msi(): test_msi() may return with an error != EOPNOTSUPP
(due to failure of request_irq()). In that case msi is not disabled
- also failure of register_netdev() does not disable msi
This patch fixes the concerning parts.

The function sky2_probe() return 0 for success and negative value
for most of its internal tests failures. There are two exceptions
that are error cases going to err_out*:. For this two cases, the
function abort its success execution path, but returns non negative
value, making it dificult for a caller function to notice the error.
This patch fixes the error cases that do not return negative values.
This was found by Coccinelle, but the code change was made by hand.
This patch is not robot generated.

The newer flavors of Yukon II use a different method for receive
checksum offload. This is indicated in the driver by the SKY2_HW_NEW_LE
flag. On these newer chips, the BMU_ENA_RX_CHKSUM should not be set.
The driver would get incorrectly toggle the bit, enabling the old
checksum logic on these chips and cause a BUG_ON() assertion. If
receive checksum was toggled via ethtool.

Resolved the iwlwifi conflict with mainline using 3-way diff posted
by John Linville and Stephen Rothwell. In 'net' we added a bug
fix to make iwlwifi report a more accurate skb->truesize but this
conflicted with RX path changes that happened meanwhile in net-next.
In e1000e a conflict arose in the validation code for settings of
adapter->itr. 'net-next' had more sophisticated logic so that
logic was used.

Bug: The VLAN bit of the MAC RX Status Word is unreliable in several older
supported chips. Sometimes the VLAN bit is not set for valid VLAN packets
and also sometimes the VLAN bit is set for non-VLAN packets that came after
a VLAN packet. This results in a receive length error when VLAN hardware
tagging is enabled.
Fix: Variation on original fix proposed by Mirko.
The VLAN information is decoded in the status loop, and can be
applied to the received SKB there. This eliminates the need for the
separate tag field in the interface data structure. The tag has to
be copied and cleared if packet is copied. This version checked out
with vlan and normal traffic.
Note: vlan_tx_tag_present should be renamed vlan_tag_present, but that
is outside scope of this.
