12b7db2bf8 usb: musb: Return error value from musb_mailbox
At least on n900 we have phy-twl4030-usb only generating cable
interrupts, and then have a separate USB PHY.

In order for musb to know the real cable status, we need to
clear any cached state until musb is ready. Otherwise the cable
status interrupts will get just ignored if the status does
not change from the initial state.

To do this, let's add a return value to musb_mailbox(), and
reset cached linkstat to MUSB_UNKNOWN on error. Sorry to cause
a bit of churn here, I should have added that already last time
patching musb_mailbox().

a118df07f5 usb: musb: Don't set d+ high before enable for 2430 glue layer
At least 2430 glue layer pulls d+ high on start up even if there are
no gadgets configured. This is bad at least for anything using a separate
battery charger chip as it can confuse the charger detection.

Let's fix the issue by removing the bogus glue layer code tinkering
with the SESSION bit. As pointed out Bin Liu <b-liu@ti.com> and
Sergei Shtylyov <sergei.shtylyov@cogentembedded.com>, the SESSION
bit just starts host mode if ID pin is grounded, and starts the
srp is ID pin is floating. So without the ID pin changing, it's
unable to force musb mode to anything. And just for starting a
host mode, things work fine without this code.

4dc2fe7a94 usb: musb: Remove try_idle for 2430 glue layer
This is no longer needed with PM runtime at least for 2430 glue.
We can now rely only on PM runtime and cable detection.

The other glue layers can probably remove try_idle too, but that
needs to be tested for each platform before doing it.

a83e17d0f7 usb: musb: Improve PM runtime and phy handling for 2430 glue layer
This simplifies things and allows idling both MUSB and PHY
when nothing is configured. Let's just return early from PM
runtime if musb is not yet initialized.

21f77beece usb: musb: Handle cable status better for 2430 glue layer
We may have drivers loaded but no configured gadgets and MUSB may be in
host mode. If gadgets are configured during host mode, PM runtime will
get confused.

Disable PM runtime from gadget state, and do it based on the cable
and last state.

Note that we may get multiple cable events, so we need to keep track
of the power state.

Let's fix things to use delayed work so we can remove the
pm_runtime_irq_safe.

gadget framework eventually.

3064721790 usb: musb: Remove conditional PM runtime calls for musb_gadget
The conditional use of PM runtime does not work properly
for musb gadget. On cable disconnect we may not get any
USB_EVENT_NONE leaving the PM runtime call unpaired.

Let's fix the issue by making sure the PM runtime calls are
paired within the functions. The glue layer will take care
of the rest.

f730f205cc usb: musb: Split PM runtime between wrapper IP and musb core
Let's not tinker with the PM runtime of musb core from the omap2430
wrapper. This allows us to initialize PM runtime for musb core later
on instead of doing it in stages. And omap2430 wrapper has no need
to for accessing musb core at this point.

Note that this does not remove all the PM runtime calls from the
glue layer, those will get removed in a later patch.

7099dbc5b3 usb: musb: Update to use PM runtime autosuspend
Let's make the PM runtime use the standard autosuspend calls.
Commit 5de85b9d57 ("PM / runtime: Re-init runtime PM states at probe
error and driver unbind") means we must pair use_autosuspend with
dont_use_autosuspend and then use put_sync to properly idle the
device.

Note that we'll be removing the PM runtime calls from the glue
layer to the MUSB core in the next patch. And we can also remove
the pointless FIXME comment now.

7e1704dcf6 usb: musb: Fix idling after host mode by increasing autosuspend delay
Looks like at least 2430 glue won't idle reliably with the 200 ms
autosuspend delay. This causes deeper idle states being blocked for
the whole SoC when disconnecting OTG A cable.

Increasing the delay to 500 ms seems to idle both MUSB and the PHY
reliably. This is probably because of time needed by the hardware
based negotiation between MUSB and the PHY.

a60d541a2d usb: musb: sunxi: Set state to A_WAIT_VRISE when enabling Vbus
When the board is powering attached usb devices via the otg port
sometimes / on some devices it takes slightly too long for the Vbus
detection code in phy-sun4i-usb.c to signal that Vbus is high after
enabling Vbus and the musb hardware signals a MUSB_INTR_VBUSERROR
interrupt.

This commit sets the otg state to A_WAIT_VRISE upon enabling Vbus
making musb_stage0_irq() ignore the first VBUSERR_RETRY_COUNT
VBUSERROR interrupts, fixing connection issues in these cases.

858b9be7fd usb: musb: host: move DMA engine check from musb_tx_dma_set_mode_cppi_tusb() to its caller
Commit 754fe4a92c ("usb: musb: Remove ifdefs for TX DMA for musb_host.c")
looks incomplete: the DMA engine checks are  done outside the Mentor/UX500
handler  but inside the CPPI/TUSB handler. Move the checks out of the CPPI/
TUSB handler into its caller, musb_tx_dma_program().

dbac5d07d1 usb: musb: host: don't start next rx urb if current one failed
urb->status is set when endpoint csr RXSTALL, H_ERROR, DATAERROR or
INCOMPRX bit is set. Those bits mean a broken pipe, so don't start next
urb when any of these bits is set by checking urb->status.

To minimize the risk of regression, only do so for RX, until we have a
test case to understand the behavior of TX.

The patch fixes system freeze issue caused by repeatedly invoking RX ISR
while removing a usb uart device connected to a hub, in which case the
hub has no chance to report the disconnect event due to the kernel is
busy in processing the RX interrupt flooding.

Fix checkpatch complaint (qh != NULL) as while.

f551e13529 Revert "usb: musb: musb_host: Enable HCD_BH flag to handle urb return in bottom half"
This reverts commit 2035772010.

Commit 20357720 claims throughput improvement for MSC/UVC, but I
don't see much improvement. Following are the MSC measurement using
dd on AM335x GP EVM.

with BCD_BH:    read: 14.9MB/s, write: 20.9MB/s
without BCD_BH: read: 15.2MB/s, write: 21.2MB/s

However with this commit the following regressions have been observed.

1. ASIX usb-ethernet dongle is completely broken on UDP RX.

2. Unpluging a 3G modem, which uses option driver, behind a hub causes
   console log flooding with the following message.

   option_instat_callback: error -71

ead22caf85 usb: musb: core: added missing const qualifier to musb_hdrc_platform_data::config
The musb_hdrc_platform_data::config was defined as a non-const pointer.
However some drivers (e.g. the ux500) set up this pointer to point to a
static structure, which is potentially dangerous. Since the musb core
uses the pointer in a read-only manner the const qualifier was added to
protect the content of the config.

MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE() is missing, so the module isn't auto-loading on
sunxi systems using the OTG controller. This commit adds the missing

in the call to ux500_dma_is_compatible() from ux500_dma_channel_program():

The problem is that ux500_dma_is_compatible() is called from the
main musb driver on the virtual address, but here we pass in a
DMA address, so the types are fundamentally different but it works
because the function only checks the alignment of the buffer and
that is the same.

We could work around this by adding another cast, but I have checked
that the buffer we get passed here is already checked before it
gets mapped, so the second check seems completely unnecessary
and removing it must be the cleanest solution.

4c2ba0c673 usb: musb: fix DMA for host mode
Commit ac33cdb166 ("usb: musb: Remove ifdefs for musb_host_rx in
musb_host.c part5") introduces a problem setting DMA host mode.

The musb_advance_schedule() is called immediately after receiving an
endpoint RX interrupt without waiting for the DMA transfer to complete.

As a consequence when the dma complete interrupt arrives the in_qh
member of hw_ep is already null an the musb_host_rx() exits on !urb
error case. Fix the done condition that advances the musb schedule.

bba40e6948 usb: musb: Fix DMA desired mode for Mentor DMA engine
Commit 754fe4a92c ("usb: musb: Remove ifdefs for TX DMA for musb_host.c")
introduces a problem setting the desired channel mode for the Mentor DMA
engine.

There is a case where an address is incorrectly assigned to the DMA
channel desired mode when it should instead be assigned the actual mode
value. This results in the value of channel->desired_mode not being
correct.

79c5623f1c usb: musb: ux500: Fix NULL pointer dereference at system PM
The commit 7d32cdef53 ("usb: musb: fail with error when no DMA
controller set"), caused the core platform driver to correctly return an
error code when fail probing.

Unfurtante it also caused bug for a NULL pointer dereference, during
system suspend for the ux500 driver. The reason is a lacking validation
of the corresponding ->driver_data pointer, which won't be set when the
musb core driver fails to probe (or haven't yet been probed).

this cause issues for fixing the MUSB code further. The reason we can't
remove omap2430 is because it uses the PHY functions and also exports the
omap_musb_mailbox function that some PHY drivers are using.

Let's fix the issue by exporting a more generic musb_mailbox function
from the MUSB core and allow platform glue layers to register phy_callback
function as needed.

And now we can now also get rid of the include/linux/musb-omap.h.

4d05591094 usb: musb: core: Fix pm runtime for deferred probe
If musb_init_controller fails at musb_platform_init, we have already
called pm_runtime_irq_safe for musb and that causes the pm runtime count
to be enabled for parent before the parent has completed initialization.
This causes pm to stop working as on unload nothing gets idled.

This issue can be reproduced at least with:

# modprobe omap2430
HS USB OTG: no transceiver configured
musb-hdrc musb-hdrc.0.auto: musb_init_controller failed with status -517
# modprobe phy-twl4030-usb
# rmmod omap2430

And after the steps above omap2430 will block deeper idle states on
omap3.

To fix this, let's not enable pm runtime until we need to and the
parent has been initialized. Note that this does not fix the issue of
PM being broken for musb during runtime.

68fe05e2a4 usb: musb: fix tx fifo flush handling
Here are a few changes in musb_h_tx_flush_fifo().

- It has been observed that sometimes (if not always) musb is unable
  to flush tx fifo during urb dequeue when disconnect a device. But
  it seems to be harmless, since the tx fifo flush is done again in
  musb_ep_program() when re-use the hw_ep.

  But the WARN() floods the console in the case when multiple tx urbs
  are queued, so change it to dev_WARN_ONCE().

- applications could queue up many tx urbs, then the 1ms delay could
  causes minutes of delay in device disconnect. So remove it to get
  better user experience. The 1ms delay does not help the flushing
  anyway.

- cleanup the debug code - related to lastcsr.

Note: The tx fifo flush issue has been observed during device disconnect
on AM335x.

To reproduce the issue, ensure tx urb(s) are queued when unplug the usb
device which is connected to AM335x usb host port.

I found using a usb-ethernet device and running iperf (client on AM335x)
has very high chance to trigger the problem.

Better to turn on dev_dbg() in musb_cleanup_urb() with CPPI enabled to
see the issue when aborting the tx channel.

The callback registered by the musb driver has to comply to the latter,
but up to now had "offset" first which effectively made the function
broken for correct users. So flip the order and while at it also
switch to the parameter names of struct usb_phy_io_ops's write.

8f2279d5d9 usb: musb: omap2430: Fix regression caused by driver core change
Commit ddef08dd00 ("Driver core: wakeup the parent device before trying
probe") started automatically ensuring the parent device is enabled when
the child gets probed.

This however caused a regression for MUSB omap2430 interface as the
runtime PM for the parent device needs the child initialized to access
the MUSB hardware registers.

Let's delay the enabling of PM runtime for the parent until the child
has been properly initialized as suggested in an earlier patch by
Grygorii Strashko <grygorii.strashko@ti.com>.

In addition to delaying pm_runtime_enable, we now also need to make sure
the parent is enabled during omap2430_musb_init. We also want to propagate
an error from omap2430_runtime_resume if struct musb is not initialized.

Note that we use pm_runtime_put_noidle here for both the child and parent
to prevent an extra runtime_suspend/resume cycle.

Let's also add some comments to avoid confusion between the
two different devices.

Now that it is possible to build in multiple dma engines, we can no longer
require MUSB_PIO_ONLY to be set when using the sunxi musb glue.

This patch adds dummy dma hooks to make the musb glue work without
MUSB_PIO_ONLY. This hooks are fake because we do not support dma with
musb on sunxi. The Allwinnner Android kernels have some dma code, but it
is disabled as Allwinner never managed to get it to work.

After a few iterations of start/stop UVC camera streaming, the streaming
stops.

This patch adds 250us delay in the cppi channel abort path to let cppi
drain properly.

Using 50us delay seems to be too aggressive, some webcams are still
broken. 250us is the original value used in TI 3.2 kernel.

The change ensures otg is not in a A- state when checking for VBUS in
peripheral mode.

musb_start() where VBUS checking is in can be called in many situations.
One example is in babble recovery routine, in which otg is transitioning
from A-HOST to A-WAIT-BCON, but VBUS discharge takes time, so
musb->is_active could be set to 1 due to this improper checking, then it
causes musb_bus_suspend() failed which leads to warning log message
flooding.

This is based on initial code to get the Allwinner sunxi musb controller
supported by Chen-Yu Tsai and Roman Byshko.

This adds support for the Allwinner sunxi musb controller in both host only
and otg mode. Peripheral only mode is not supported, as no boards use that.

This has been tested on a cubietruck (A20 SoC) and an UTOO P66 tablet
(A13 SoC) with a variety of devices in host mode and with the g_serial gadget
driver in peripheral mode, plugging otg / host cables in/out a lot of times
in all possible imaginable plug orders.

Currently, we're calling musb_start() twice for DRD ports
in some situations. This has been observed to cause enumeration

For some reason the musb_write_rxfun* and musb_write_rxhub* functions had
a different function prototype and some extra magic needed on the caller side
compared to their tx counterparts, this commit makes them work the same as
their tx counterparts.

The sunxi otg phy has a bug where it wrongly detects a high speed squelch
when reset on the root port gets de-asserted with a lo-speed device.

The workaround for this is to disable squelch detect before de-asserting
reset, and re-enabling it after the reset de-assert is done.

Pass struct musb to tusb_dma_omap() and is_cppi_enabled(),
and add macros for the other DMA controllers. Populate the
platform specific quirks with the DMA type and use it during
runtime.

Note that platform glue layers with no custom DMA code are
tagged with MUSB_DMA_INVENTRA which may have a chance of
working. Looks like the defconfigs for these use PIO_ONLY,
so this should not break existing configs.

connect AR9271(USB wifi) to AM335x, and send a flood ping from Mac OSX,
AR9271 is stopped.

on USB bus, the following occurs.

 - OUT transaction is ACKed (NYET).
 - IN transaction is ACKed (512bytes).
 - PING-NAK transaction is continued for about 2 seconds (AR9271 timeout?).

In current imprementation, IN-transaction is not completed because it
checks the empty of TX-FIFO in cppi41_dma_callback().
As a result, communication to AR9271 stops.

This patch modified to check the empty of TX-FIFO only when OUT-transaction.

musb->int_usb already contains the correct
information for musb-core to handle babble.

In fact, this very check was just causing a
nonsensical babble interrupt storm.

With this I can get test.sh to run and, even though

Also, if I remove g_zero and load g_mass_storage,
then everything works fine again.

when musb is operating as host and a remote wakeup
fires up, a resume interrupt will be raised. At that
point SUSPENDM bit is automatically cleared and
RESUME bit is automatically set.

A recent bug fix I did that was marked for stable backports
introduced a slightly wrong dependency on CONFIG_OMAP_CONTROL_PHY.

I was missing the fact that the PHY driver already stubs out the
omap_control_usb_set_mode, and we only need to add a dependency
to prevent the musb-omap2430 driver from being built-in when
the phy driver is a loadable module, but we should not prevent it
from being built altogether when the phy driver is disabled.

and iterate over each of the 16-bits (one for
each endpoint) on each direction, we can make use
of for_each_set_bit() which internally uses
find_first_bit().

This makes the code slightly more readable while

actually set.

The value for the multipoint dts property is ignored when parsing with
of_property_read_bool, so we currently have multipoint always set as 1
even if value 0 is specified in the dts file.

Let's fix this to read the value too instead of just the property like
the binding documentation says as otherwise MUSB will fail to work
on devices with Mentor configuration that does not support multipoint.

3e43a07256 usb: musb: core: add pm_runtime_irq_safe()
We need a pm_runtime_get_sync() call from
within musb_gadget_pullup() to make sure
registers are accessible at that time.

The problem is that musb_gadget_pullup() is
called with IRQs disabled and, because of that,
we need to tell pm_runtime that this pm_runtime_get_sync()
is IRQ safe.

We can simply add pm_runtime_irq_safe(), however, because
we need to make our read/write accessor function pointers
have been initialized before trying to use them. This means
that all pm_runtime initialization for musb_core needs to
be moved down so that when we call pm_runtime_irq_safe(),
the pm_runtime_get_sync() that it calls on the parent, won't
cause a crash due to NULL musb_read/write accessors.

The commit 889ad3b "usb: musb: try a race-free wakeup" breaks device
hotplug enumeraitonn when the device is connected behind a hub while usb
autosuspend is enabled.

Adding finish_resume_work into runtime resume callback fixes the issue.

Also resume root hub is required to resume the bus from runtime suspend,
so move musb_host_resume_root_hub() back to its original location, where
handles RESUME interrupt.

1. set AUTOREQ to NONE at the beginning of teardown;

2. add delay for dma pipeline to drain;

3. Do not set USB_TDOWN bit for RX teardown.

  The CPPI hw has an issue that when tearing down a RX channel, if
  another RX channel is receiving data, the CPPI will lockup.

  To workaround the issue, do not set the CPPI TD bit. The steps before
  this point ensures the CPPI channel will be torn down properly.

68693b8ea4 usb: musb: stuff leak of struct usb_hcd
since the split of host+gadget mode in commit 74c2e93600 ("usb: musb:
factor out hcd initalization") we leak the usb_hcd struct. We call now
musb_host_cleanup() which does basically usb_remove_hcd() and also sets
the hcd variable to NULL. Doing so makes the finall call to
musb_host_free() basically a nop and the usb_hcd remains around for ever
without anowner.
This patch drops that NULL assignment for that reason.

!strncmp(buf, "force host", 9) is true if and only if buf starts with
"force hos". This was obviously not what was intended. The same error
exists for "force full-speed", "force high-speed" and "test

For consistency, also change the other occurences of the !strncmp
idiom.

5450ac88dc usb: musb: Add function pointers for IO access functions
MUSB currently breaks badly if we try to build in support
for multiple platforms. This also happens if done as loadable
modules, which is not nice for distros.

Let's fix the issue by adding new struct musb_io for the IO
access functions that the platform code can populate. Note
that we don't want to use the current ops as that's really
platform_data and and set as a const.

This should allow eventually adding function pointers also

musb registers can be dumped using the file regdump
which is created in debugfs. Up to now  hard coded
register addresses are used for that. Different glue
layers however have different register addresses. The
patch addresses this issue by substituting bare register

The reason for this backtrace is the attempt of the USB code to resume
the HUB twice and thus enqueue the status URB twice.
Alan Stern was a great help by explaining how the USB code supposed to
work and what is most likely the problem. The root problem is that after
resume the musb runtime-suspend state remains RPM_SUSPENDED.
According to git log it RPM was added for the omap2430 platform. If I
understand it correct the omap2430 invokes a get on musb once a cable is
connected and a put once the cable is gone. In between the device could
go auto-idle/off. Not sure what happens when the device goes into suspend
but then I guess it was gadget only.
On DSPS I see only a get in probe and put in remove function. This would
forbid RPM from working but then the devices enterns suspended state
anyway :)

To get rid of this warning, I set the device state to RPM_ACTIVE which
the expected state.

It seems that since we got woken up via MUSB_INTR_RESUME the
musb_host_finish_resume() callback is executed before the
resume-callbacks of the PHY and glue layer are invoked. If I delay it
until the glue layer resumed then I don't see this problem.

I also move musb_host_resume_root_hub() into that callback since I don't
see any reason in doing anything resume-link if there are still pieces
not restored.

The am335x-evmsk support two kinds of suspend:
- standby
  the USB device remains powered while the system goes into suspend

- mem
  the USB device becomes powerless while the system goes into suspend.

In the "standby" case the device resumes quickly. In the "mem" case the
system hangs for a few seconds. It seems to me that the USB-device has
no address (it was disconnected) and the USB stack thinks that it is
fully operational and GetPortStatus returns the status from before the
suspend so it is not a big help here.

This adds a check in the resume path to see if the device mode (A or B)
and the speed is the same. If the device went missing between
suspend/resume (VBUS went down) then MUSB seems to go into B mode and
HS/FS bits are cleared. In that case we clear the port1_status bits and
assume a disconnect. Once the stack learns this it does a "logical
disconnect" and removes the USB-device quickly. Should the device remain
connected during the suspend then MUSB will receives a "CONNECT" interrupt.

In commit 0ec8fd70fb ("USB: musb: fix possible panic while resuming")
musb_resume() became musb_resume_early() in order to enable the clocks
early on resume. This piece of the resume code was removed later in
commit 034917612 ("usb: musb: move clock handling to glue layer").
In between the function was renamed from musb_resume_early() to
musb_resume_noirq() by commit commit 48fea9659e ("USB: Rework musb
suspend()/resume_early()").

Now I see that first musb_core is resumed followed by phy and glue
layer and I ask myself is this really what we intend to do? This kind
of revoked the purpose of the first commit (0ec8fd70fb).
Because of this and because it looks wrong to resume (core) before the
glue layer I push it to the ->resume callback.

now that no UDC driver relies on the extra
'driver' argument to ->udc_stop(), we can
safely remove it.

This commit is based on previous work by
Robert Baldyga <r.baldyga@samsung.com> which
can be found at [1]; however that patch turned
out to have a high probability of regressing
many UDC drivers because of a blind search & replace
s/driver/$udc->driver/ which caused the 'driver'
argument to stop_activity() to be a valid non-NULL
pointer when it should be NULL, thus causing UDCs
to mistakenly call gadget driver's ->disconnect()
callback.

commit c58d80f52 ("usb: musb: Ensure that cppi41 timer gets armed on
premature DMA TX irq") fixed hrtimer scheduling bug. There is one left
which does not trigger that often.
The following scenario is still possible:

is wrong and we run into the BUG_ON() in __run_hrtimer().
This can happens on SMP or PREEMPT-RT.
The patch fixes the problem by only starting the timer if the timer is
not yet queued.

Intensive tests with USB audio devices connected to a musb host port
have shown reproducible pops and clicks in both the playback and the
capture stream.

These are related to how the early_tx hrtimer is set up, and it turns
out they can be fixed by reducing the timer's slack value from 40 to
25 us. Also, when the callback is ran without taking action, it should
be rescheduled 20 us later instead of 50 us.

babble and real babble condition. Also add the SW babble control
register definitions.

Babble control register logic is implemented in the latest
revision of AM335x.

register reads 0x4 by default in newer silicon as opposed to 0
in old versions of AM335x. Based on this enable the sw babble

Currently musb_platform_reset() is only used by dsps.
In case of BABBLE interrupt for other platforms the  musb_platform_reset()
is a NOP. In such situations no need to re-initialize the endpoints.

mechanism without resetting the IP block. In preperation to add that support
its better to have a rest_done return for  musb_platform_reset().

50aea6fca7 usb: musb: cppi41: fire hrtimer according to programmed channel length
The musb/cppi41 code installs a hrtimer to work around DMA completion
interrupts that have fired too early on AM335x hardware. This timer
is currently programmed to first fire 140 microseconds after the DMA
completion callback. According to the commit which introduced it
(a655f481d8, "usb: musb: musb_cppi41: handle pre-mature TX complete
interrupt"), that value is is considered a 'rule of thumb' that worked
well with the test case described in the commit log.

Test show, however, that for USB audio devices and much smaller packet
sizes, the timer has to fire earlier in order to correctly handle the audio
stream. The original test case had output transfer sizes of 1514 bytes, and
a delay of 140 microseconds. For audio devices with 24 bytes channel size, 3
microseconds seem to work well.

Hence, let's assume that the time it takes to clear the bit correlates with
the number of bytes transferred. The referenced commit log mentions such a
suspicion as well. Let the timer fire in cppi41_channel->total_len/10
microseconds to correctly handle both cases.

Also, shorten the interval in which the timer fires again in case of
a non-empty early_tx list.

With these changes in place, both FS and HS audio devices appear to work
well on AM335x hardware.

eefae89e00 Revert "usb: musb: musb_cppi41: Handle ISOCH differently and not use the hrtimer."
This reverts commit 1af54b7a4.

The commit tried to address cases in which isochronous transfers are 'not
reliable', most probably in the tests conducted, polling for the
MUSB_TXCSR_TXPKTRDY bit in MUSB_TXCSR is done too late.

Hence, it installs a work struct which basically busy-polls for the bit in a
rather agressive way by rescheduling the work if the FIFO is not empty. With
USB audio devices, tests have shown that it takes approximately 100
iterations of the asynchronous worker until the FIFO signals completion,
which leads to 100% CPU loads when streaming audio.

The issue the patch tried to address can be handled differently, which is
what the next patch does.

ff3fcac949 usb: musb: introduce dma_channel.rx_packet_done
The musb/cppi41 glue layer is capable of handling transactions that span
over more than one USB packet by reloading the DMA descriptors
partially. An urb is considered completed when either its transfer
buffer has been filled entirely (actual_length ==
transfer_buffer_length) or if a packet in the stream has less bytes than
the endpoint's wMaxPacketSize.

Once one of the above conditions is met, musb_dma_completion() is called
from cppi41_trans_done(). However, the final decision whether or not to
return the urb to its owner is made by the core and its determination of
the variable 'done' in musb_host_rx(). This code has currently no way of
knowing what the size of the last packet was, and whether or not to
give back the urb due to a short read.

Fix this by introducing a new boolean flag in 'struct dma_channel', and
set it from musb_cppi41.c. If set, it will make the core do what the
DMA layer decided and complete the urb.

c03da38d5d usb: musb: use is_host_active() to distinguish between host and gadget mode
On AM33xx platforms, unplugging a device in the middle of an active
transfer leads to a drop of MUSB_DEVCTL_HM in MUSB_DEVCTL before the
system is informed about a disconnect. This consequently makes the musb
core call the gadget code to handle the interrupt request, which then
crashes the kernel because the relevant pointers haven't been set up
for gadget mode.

To fix this, use is_host_active() rather than (devctl & MUSB_DEVCTL_HM)
in musb_interrupt() and musb_dma_completion() to detect whether the
controller is in host or peripheral mode. This information is provided
by the driver logic and does not rely on register contents.

The premature interrupt of request2 on CPU1 does not arm the timer and
therefor the request completion never happens because it checks for
!hrtimer_active(). hrtimer_active() evaluates:

  timer->state != HRTIMER_STATE_INACTIVE

which of course evaluates to true in the above case as timer->state is
CALLBACK_RUNNING.

That's clearly documented:

 * A timer is active, when it is enqueued into the rbtree or the
 * callback function is running or it's in the state of being migrated
 * to another cpu.

But that's not what the code wants to check. The code wants to check
whether the timer is queued, i.e. whether its armed and waiting for
expiry.

We have a helper function for this: hrtimer_is_queued(). This
evaluates:

  timer->state & HRTIMER_STATE_QUEUED

So in the above case this evaluates to false and therefor forces the
DMA interrupt on CPU1 to call hrtimer_start().

Use hrtimer_is_queued() instead of hrtimer_active() and evrything is
good.

7adb5c876e usb: musb: Fix panic upon musb_am335x module removal
At probe time, the musb_am335x driver register its childs by
calling of_platform_populate(), which registers all childs in
the devicetree hierarchy recursively.

On the other side, the driver's remove() function uses of_device_unregister()
to remove each child of musb_am335x's.

However, when musb_dsps is loaded, its devices are attached to the musb_am335x
device as musb_am335x childs. Hence, musb_am335x remove() will attempt to
unregister the devices registered by musb_dsps, which produces a kernel panic.

In other words, the childs in the "struct device" hierarchy are not the same
as the childs in the "devicetree" hierarchy.

Ideally, we should enforce the removal of the devices registered by
musb_am335x *only*, instead of all its child devices. However, because of the
recursive nature of of_platform_populate, this doesn't seem possible.

Therefore, as the only solution at hand, this commit disables musb_am335x
driver removal capability, preventing it from being ever removed. This was
originally suggested by Sebastian Siewior:

The ux500 MUSB driver propagates the OF node to the dynamically
created musb-hdrc device, which is incorrect as it makes the OF
core believe there are two devices spun from the very same
DT node, which confuses other parts of the device core, notably
the pin control subsystem, which will try to apply all the pin
control settings also to the HDRC device as it gets
instantiated. (The OMAP2430 for example, does not set the
of_node member.)

0fca91b8a4 usb: musb: dsps: move debugfs_remove_recursive()
When the platform initialization fails due to missing resources, it will
return -EPROBE_DEFER after dsps_musb_init() has been called.

dsps_musb_init() calls dsps_musb_dbg_init() to allocate the debugfs
nodes. At a later point in time, the probe will be retried, and
dsps_musb_dbg_init() will be called again. debugfs_create_dir() will
fail this time, as the node already exists, and so the entire device
probe will fail with -ENOMEM.

Fix this by moving debugfs_remove_recursive() from dsps_remove() to the
plaform's exit function, so it will be cleanly torn down when the probe
fails. It also feels more natural this way, as .exit is the counterpart
to .init.

causing kernel panic) removed phy_power_on()
and phy_power_off() calls from runtime PM callbacks
but it failed to note that the driver depended
on pm_runtime_get_sync() calls to power up the PHY,
thus leaving some platforms without any means to
have a working PHY.

Fix that by enabling the phy during omap2430_musb_init()
and killing it in omap2430_musb_exit().

aecbc31d76 usb: musb: musb_cppi41: Dont reprogram DMA if tear down is initiated
Reprogramming the DMA after tear down is initiated leads to warning.
This is mainly seen with ISOCH since we do a delayed completion for
ISOCH transfers. In ISOCH transfers dma_completion should not reprogram
if the channel tear down is initiated.

30d361bf0f usb: musb: do not sleep in atomic context
musb_port_reset() is called from musb_hub_control() which in turn holds
a spinlock, so musb_port_reset() is not allowed to call msleep().

With the asynchronous work helpers in place, this is fortunately easy to
fix by rescheduling the reset deassertion function to after the time
when the wait period is finished.

Note, however, that the MUSB_POWER_RESUME bit is only set on AM33xx
processors under rare conditions such as when to another driver
reporting an error during suspend. Hence, this didn't hit me yet in
normal operation.

33f8d75f57 usb: musb: core: Fix remote-wakeup resume
During resume don't touch SUSPENDM/RESUME bits of POWER register
while restoring controller context. These bits might be changed
by the controller during resume operation and so will be different
than what they were during suspend.

e.g. SUSPENDM bit is set by software during USB global suspend but
automatically cleared by the controller during remote wakeup or
during resume. Setting this bit back while restoring context
causes undesired behaviour. i.e. Babble interrupt is generated
and USB is broken.
