cf9b59e9d3 Merge remote branch 'origin' into secretlab/next-devicetree
Merging in current state of Linus' tree to deal with merge conflicts and
build failures in vio.c after merge.

Conflicts:
	drivers/i2c/busses/i2c-cpm.c
	drivers/i2c/busses/i2c-mpc.c
	drivers/net/gianfar.c

Also fixed up one line in arch/powerpc/kernel/vio.c to use the
correct node pointer.

44504b2beb of: change of_match_device to work with struct device
The of_node pointer is now stored directly in struct device, so
of_match_device() should work with any device, not just struct of_device.

This patch changes the interface to of_match_device() to accept a
struct device instead of struct of_device.

4018294b53 of: Remove duplicate fields from of_platform_driver
.name, .match_table and .owner are duplicated in both of_platform_driver
and device_driver. This patch is a removes the extra copies from struct
of_platform_driver and converts all users to the device_driver members.

This patch is a pretty mechanical change. The usage model doesn't change
and if any drivers have been missed, or if anything has been fixed up
incorrectly, then it will fail with a compile time error, and the fixup
will be trivial. This patch looks big and scary because it touches so
many files, but it should be pretty safe.

597b9d1e44 drivercore: Add of_match_table to the common device drivers
OF-style matching can be available to any device, on any type of bus.
This patch allows any driver to provide an OF match table when CONFIG_OF
is enabled so that drivers can be bound against devices described in
the device tree.

cb6dc512b7 arch/powerpc: Move dma_mask from of_device into pdev_archdata
By moving dma_mask into pdev_archdata, and adding archdata to
struct of_device, it makes it possible to substitute of_device
with struct platform_device, which is a stepping stone to
removing the of_platform bus entirely.

The following structure elements duplicate the information in

makes all readers of these elements use device.of_node instead.

12765517d9 device_attributes: add sysfs_attr_init() for dynamic attributes
Made necessary by 6992f53349 ("sysfs: Use
one lockdep class per sysfs attribute").

Prevents further "key xxx not in .data" bug-reports. Although some
attributes could probably be converted to static ones, this is left for
people having hardware to test.

5a0e3ad6af include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h
percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.

percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.

  http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py

The script does the followings.

* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used,
gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.

* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains
core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
doesn't seem to be any matching order.

* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
  file.

The conversion was done in the following steps.

1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400
   files.

2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion,
some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added
   inclusions to around 150 files.

3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.

4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
   e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.

5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h
inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each
slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
   necessary.

6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.

7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).

   * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
   * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * ia64 SMP allmodconfig
   * s390 SMP allmodconfig
   * alpha SMP allmodconfig
   * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig

8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
a separate patch and serve as bisection point.

Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

33a470f6d5 macintosh/therm_adt746x: Fix sysfs attributes lifetime
Looking at drivers/macintosh/therm_adt746x.c, the sysfs files are
created in thermostat_init() and removed in thermostat_exit(), which
are the driver's init and exit functions. These files are backed-up by
a per-device structure, so it looks like the wrong thing to do: the
sysfs files have a lifetime longer than the data structure that is
backing it up.

I think that sysfs files creation should be moved to the end of
probe_thermostat() and sysfs files removal should be moved to the
beginning of remove_thermostat().

Current implementation of Mac mouse button emulation plugs into legacy
keyboard driver, converts certain keys into button events on a separate
device, and suppresses the real events from reaching tty. This worked
well enough until user space started using evdev which was completely
unaware of this arrangement and kept sending original key presses to
its users. Change the implementation to use newly added input filter
framework so that original key presses are not transmitted to any
handlers.

As a bonus remove SYSCTL dependencies from the code and use Kconfig
instead; also do not create the emulated mouse device until user
activates emulation.

1496e89ae2 powerpc/therm_adt746x: Record pwm invert bit at module load time]
In commit 0512a9a8e2, we unilaterally zero the
"pwm invert" bit in the fan behavior configuration register. On my PowerBook
G4, this results in the fans going to full speed at low temperature and
shutting off at high temperature because the pwm invert bit is supposed to be
set.

Therefore, record the pwm invert bit at driver load time, and write the bit
into the fan behavior control register. This restores correct behavior on my
PBG4 and should work around the bit being set to the wrong value after
suspend/resume (which is what the original patch was trying to fix). It also
fixes a minor omission where the pwm invert bit correction is NOT performed
when switching into automatic mode.

d58b0c39e3 powerpc/macio: Rework hotplug media bay support
The hotplug mediabay has tendrils deep into drivers/ide code
which makes a libata port reather difficult. In addition it's
ugly and could be done better.

This reworks the interface between the mediabay and the rest
of the world so that:

   - Any macio_driver can now have a mediabay_event callback
which will be called when that driver sits on a mediabay and
it's been either plugged or unplugged. The device type is
passed as an argument. We can now move all the IDE cruft
into the IDE driver itself

   - A check_media_bay() function can be used to take a peek
at the type of device currently in the bay if any, a cleaner
variant of the previous function with the same name.

   - A pair of lock/unlock functions are exposed to allow the
IDE driver to block the hotplug callbacks during the initial
setup and probing of the bay in order to avoid nasty race
conditions.

   - The mediabay code no longer needs to spin on the status
register of the IDE interface when it detects an IDE device,
this is done just fine by the IDE code itself

Overall, less code, simpler, and allows for another driver
than our old drivers/ide based one.

11a50873ef powerpc/pmac: Fix issues with sleep on some powerbooks
Since the change of how interrupts are disabled during suspend,
certain PowerBook models started exhibiting various issues during
suspend or resume from sleep.

I finally tracked it down to the code that runs various "platform"
functions (kind of little scripts extracted from the device-tree),
which uses our i2c and PMU drivers expecting interrutps to work,
and at a time where with the new scheme, they have been disabled.

This causes timeouts internally which for some reason results in
the PMU being unable to see the trackpad, among other issues, really
it depends on the machine. Most of the time, we fail to properly adjust
some clocks for suspend/resume so the results are not always
predictable.

This patch fixes it by using IRQF_TIMER for both the PMU and the I2C
interrupts. I prefer doing it this way than moving the call sites since
I really want those platform functions to still be called after all
drivers (and before sysdevs).

We also do a slight cleanup to via-pmu.c driver to make sure the
ADB autopoll mask is handled correctly when doing bus resets

b8e4a7dae5 powerpc/powermac: Thermal control turns system off too eagerly
On certain PowerMacs, a module (therm_windtunnel) controls various
thermal settings (it can report CPU/case temperature, change speed
of internal fans, etc.)

By default, the hardware thermal control has a temperature limit to
protect the computer from damages (the default limit seems to be 80°C)
but therm_windtunnel.c reduces it to an anormaly low value (65°C),
which means that he computer will shut down randomly when hit by direct
sun light or during summer (summer in France can be quite hot), actually
possibly losing data instead of protecting it.

The overheat limit in therm_windtunnel.c:253-254 should be set to 75°C
and 70°C instead of 65°C and 60°C respectively.

73f38fe1b5 drivers/macintosh/smu.c: Improve error handling
This makes two changes:

* As noted by Akinobu Mita in patch
b1fceac2b9, alloc_bootmem never returns NULL
and always returns a zeroed region of memory. Thus the error checking code
and memset after the call to alloc_bootmem are not necessary.

* The old error handling code consisted of setting a global variable to
NULL and returning an error code, which could cause previously allocated
resources never to be freed. The patch adds calls to appropriate resource
deallocation functions.

5b7c407baa Input: adbhid - capslock and power button fix
If the adbhid module parameter restore_capslock_events is used,
pressing the power button may confuse the capslock state. This is
because the power button release scancode (0xff) is sometimes the same
as the capslock press/release scancode.

This fix adds yet another flag to track the state of the power button
so that it works independently of capslock.

2dde7861af ide: rework PowerMac media-bay support (take 2)
Rework PowerMac media-bay support in such way that instead of
un/registering the IDE interface we un/register IDE devices:

* Add ide_port_scan() helper for probing+registerering devices on a port.

* Rename ide_port_unregister_devices() to __ide_port_unregister_devices().

* Add ide_port_unregister_devices() helper for unregistering devices on a port.

* Add 'ide_hwif_t *cd_port' to 'struct media_bay_info', pass 'hwif' instead
of hwif->index to media_bay_set_ide_infos() and use it to setup 'cd_port'.

* Use ide_port_unregister_devices() instead of ide_unregister()
  and ide_port_scan() instead of ide_register_hw() in media_bay_step().

* Unexport ide_register_hw() and make it static.

v2:
* Fix build by adding <linux/ide.h> include to <asm-powerpc/mediabay.h>.

3a2d5b7001 PM: Introduce PM_EVENT_HIBERNATE callback state
During the last step of hibernation in the "platform" mode (with the
help of ACPI) we use the suspend code, including the devices'
->suspend() methods, to prepare the system for entering the ACPI S4
system sleep state.

But at least for some devices the operations performed by the
->suspend() callback in that case must be different from its operations
during regular suspend.

For this reason, introduce the new PM event type PM_EVENT_HIBERNATE and
pass it to the device drivers' ->suspend() methods during the last phase
of hibernation, so that they can distinguish this case and handle it as
appropriate. Modify the drivers that handle PM_EVENT_SUSPEND in a
special way and need to handle PM_EVENT_HIBERNATE in the same way.

These changes are necessary to fix a hibernation regression related
to the i915 driver (ref. http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/2/22/488).

592a607bbc [POWERPC] Disable G5 NAP mode during SMU commands on U3
It appears that with the U3 northbridge, if the processor is in NAP
mode the whole time while waiting for an SMU command to complete,
then the SMU will fail. It could be related to the weird backward
mechanism the SMU uses to get to system memory via i2c to the
northbridge that doesn't operate properly when the said bridge is
in napping along with the CPU. That is on U3 at least, U4 doesn't
seem to be affected.

This didn't show before NO_HZ as the timer wakeup was enough to make

7ac5dde99e [POWERPC] Implement arch disable/enable irq hooks.
These hooks ensure that a decrementer interrupt is not pending when
suspending; otherwise, problems may occur on 6xx/7xx/7xxx-based
systems (except for powermacs, which use a separate suspend path).
For example, with deep sleep on the 831x, a pending decrementer will
cause a system freeze because the SoC thinks the decrementer interrupt
would have woken the system, but the core must have interrupts
disabled due to the setup required for deep sleep.

Changed via-pmu.c to use the new ppc_md hooks, and made the arch_*
functions call the generic_* functions unconditionally. -- paulus

887ef35ae4 [POWERPC] Fix sleep on powerbook 3400
Sleep on the powerbook 3400 has been broken since the change that made
powerbook_sleep_3400 call pmac_suspend_devices(), which disables
interrupts. There are a couple of loops in powerbook_sleep_3400 that
depend on interrupts being enabled, and in fact it has to have
interrupts enabled at the point of going to sleep since it is an
interrupt from the PMU that wakes it up.

This fixes it by using pmu_wait_complete() instead of a spinloop, and
by explicitly enabling interrupts before putting the CPU into sleep
mode (which is OK since all interrupts except the PMU interrupt have
been disabled at the interrupt controller by this stage).

This changes the logic so that it keeps putting the CPU into sleep mode
until the completion of the interrupt transaction from the PMU that
signals the end of sleep. Also, we now call pmu_unlock() before sleep
so that the via_pmu_interrupt() code can process the interrupt event
from the PMU properly.

Now that generic code saves and restores PCI state, it is no longer
necessary to do that here. Thus pbook_pci_save/restore and related
functions are no longer necessary, so this removes them.

Lastly, this moves the ioremap of the memory controller to init code
rather than doing it on every sleep/wakeup cycle.

c61dace9a1 [POWERPC] Convert adb.c to use kthread API and not spin on ADB requests
This converts adb.c to use the kthread API.

It also changes adb_request so that if the ADBREQ_SYNC flag is
specified, we now sleep waiting for the request to finish using an
on-stack completion rather than spinning. To implement this, we now
require that if the ADBREQ_SYNC flag is set, the `done' parameter must
be NULL. All of the existing callers of adb_request that pass
ADBREQ_SYNC appear to be in process context and have done == NULL.
Doing this allows us to get rid of an awful hack in adb_request()
where we used to test whether the request was coming from the adb
probe task and use a completion if it was, and otherwise spin.

This also gets rid of a static request block that was used if the req
parameter to adb_request was NULL. None of the callers do that any
more, so the static request block is no longer necessary.

33f6e79406 [POWERPC] Convert media-bay.c to use the kthread API
We aren't supposed to use kernel_thread directly in drivers any more,
and in fact using kthread_run is a bit simpler.

67b60518b0 [POWERPC] windfarm: Fix windfarm thread freezer interaction
When I fixed the windfarm freezer interaction first in commit
1ed2ddf380, an earlier patch than the one
I came up with after comments was committed. This has come back to haunt
us now because commit d5d8c5976d changed
the freezer to no long send signals. Fix it by removing the windfarm
thread's signal logic and restoring the original try_to_freeze().

We could simply revert 1ed2ddf380 now
but I feel that the assertion that no signal is delivered to the
windfarm thread needs not be there.
