3ce2ea6574 drm/i915: extract intel_gmbus.h from i915_drv.h and rename intel_i2c.c
It used to be handy that we only had a couple of headers, but over time
i915_drv.h has become unwieldy. Extract declarations to a separate
header file corresponding to the implementation module, clarifying the
modularity of the driver.

Ensure the new header is self-contained, and do so with minimal further
includes, using forward declarations as needed. Include the new header
only where needed, and sort the modified include directives while at it
and as needed.

While at it, rename intel_i2c.c to intel_gmbus.c and the functions to
intel_gmbus_*.

No functional changes.

0d567f1eae drm/i915/sdvo: Read out HDMI infoframes
Read the HDMI infoframes from the hbuf and unpack them into
the crtc state.

Well, actually just AVI infoframe for now but let's write the
infoframe readout code in a more generic fashion in case we
expand this later.

Note that Daniel was sceptical about the benefit if this and
also concerned about the potential for crappy sdvo encoders not
implementing the hbuf read commands. My (admittedly limited)
experience is that such encoders don't implement even the
get/set hdmi encoding commands and thus would always be treated
as dvi only. Hence I believe this is safe, and also IMO preferable
having quirks to deal with missing readout support. The readout
support is neatly isolated in the sdvo code whereas the quirk
would leak to other parts of the driver (state checker, fastboot,
etc.) thus complicating the lives of other people.

769be632d4 drm/i915/sdvo: Precompute HDMI infoframes
As with regular HDMI encoders, let's precompute the infoframes
(actually just AVI infoframe for the time being) with SDVO HDMI
encoders.

v2: Drop the WARN_ON() from drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_from_display_mode()
    return since that could genuinely fail due to user asking
    for incompatible aspect ratio

204474a6b8 drm/i915: Pass down rc in intel_encoder->compute_config()
Something that I completely missed when implementing the new MST VCPI
atomic helpers is that with those helpers, there's technically a chance
of us having to grab additional modeset locks in ->compute_config() and
furthermore, that means we have the potential to hit a normal modeset
deadlock. However, because ->compute_config() only returns a bool this
means we can't return -EDEADLK when we need to drop locks and try again
which means we end up just failing the atomic check permanently. Whoops.

So, fix this by modifying ->compute_config() to pass down an actual
error code instead of a bool so that the atomic check can be restarted
on modeset deadlocks.

c3735f5c1f drm/i915: Use drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_quant_range() for SDVO HDMI as well
Fill out the AVI infoframe quantization range bits using
drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_quant_range() for SDVO HDMI encoder as well.

This changes the behaviour slightly as
drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_quant_range() will set a non-zero Q bit
even when QS==0 iff the Q bit matched the default quantization
range for the given mode. This matches the recommendation in
HDMI 2.0 and is allowed even before that.

13d0add333 drm/edid: Pass connector to AVI infoframe functions
Make life easier for drivers by simply passing the connector
to drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_from_display_mode() and
drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_quant_range(). That way drivers don't
need to worry about is_hdmi2_sink mess.

This patch adds an enum "intel_output_format" to represent
the output format of a particular CRTC. This enum will be
used to produce a RGB/YCBCR4:4:4/YCBCR4:2:0 output format
during the atomic modeset calculations.

d4b26e4f43 drm/i915: add a common connector type independent destroy hook
Almost all of the connector destroy functions do the same thing. The
differences are in the edid, detect_edid and panel cleanups, but those
are safely NULL when not initialized. Roll out a common connector
destroy hook.

Inspired by commit bc3213c444 ("drm/i915: Drop the eDP check from
intel_dp_connector_destroy()").

aa2b88074a drm/i915/sdvo: Fix multi function encoder stuff
SDVO encoders can have multiple different types of outputs hanging off
them. Currently the code tries to muck around with various is_foo
flags in the encoder to figure out which type its driving. That doesn't
work with atomic and other stuff, so let's nuke those flags and just
look at which type of connector we're actually dealing with.

The is_hdmi we'll need as that's not discoverable via the output flags,
but we'll just move it under the connector.

We'll also move the sdvo fixed mode handling out from the .get_modes()
hook into the sdvo lvds init function so that we can bail out properly
if there is no fixed mode to be found.

e4dd27aadd drm/i915: Allow DBLSCAN user modes with eDP/LVDS/DSI
When encountering a connector with the scaling mode property both
intel and modesetting ddxs sometimes add tons of DBLSCAN modes
to the output's mode list. The idea presumably being that since the
output will be going through the panel fitter anyway we can pretend
to use any kind of mode.

Sadly that means we can't reject user modes with the DBLSCAN flag
until we know whether we're going to be using the panel's native
mode or the user mode directly. Doing otherwise means X clients using
xf86vidmode/xrandr will get a protocol error (and often self
terminate as a result) when the kernel refuses to use the requested

1b2cb026dc drm/i915: Convert intel_hpd_irq_event() into an encoder hotplug hook
Allow encoders to customize their hotplug processing by moving the
intel_hpd_irq_event() code into an encoder hotplug vfunc. Currently
only SDVO needs this to re-enable hotplug signalling in the SDVO
chip. We'll use this same hook for DP/HDMI link management later.

e995ca0b81 drm/i915: Provide a device level .mode_valid() hook
We never support certain mode flags etc. Reject those early on in the
mode_config.mode_valid() hook. That allows us to remove some duplicated
checks from the connector .mode_valid() hooks, and it guarantees that
we never see those flags even from user mode as the
mode_config.mode_valid() hooks gets executed for those as well.

The enable/disable/etc. encoder hooks aren't supposed to alter the
state(s), so pass them as const. Unfortunately C lacks any kind of deep
const thingy, so this can't catch all abuses. But at least it acts as a
hint to the reader telling them not to mess about with the state(s).

What is rather strange here is how few drivers set this up, I suspect
the earlier patch to handle properties in the core did end up fixing a
pile of possible issues.

The hdmi bits simply don't exist, so nerf them. I think audio doesn't
work on gen3 at all, and for the limited color range we should
probably use the colorimetry sdvo paramater instead of the bit in the
port.

But fixing sdvo isn't my goal, I just want to get the backtrace out of
the way, and this takes care of that.

Still, while at it fix the missing read-out of the gen4 audio bit,
maybe that part even works ...

v2: Instead of trying to plug the damage in ->compute_config() make
sure we never set intel_sdvo->is_hdmi, which stops the bad state at
the source. Suggested by Chris Wilson. Also make sure we don't break
this by accident by putting a WARN_ON in place.

a85066840d drm/i915: Rework sdvo proxy i2c locking
lockdep complaints about a locking recursion for the i2c bus lock
because both the sdvo ddc proxy bus and the gmbus nested within use
the same locking class. It's not really a deadlock since we never nest
the other way round, but it's annoying.

Fix it by pulling the gmbus locking into the i2c lock_ops for both
i2c_adapater and making sure that the ddc_proxy_xfer function is
entirely lockless.

Re-layouting the extracted function resulted in some whitespace
cleanups, I figured we might as well keep them.

- Use the vfuncs of the proxied adatper instead of re-rolling copies.

0c1f528cb1 drm: handle HDMI 2.0 VICs in AVI info-frames
HDMI 1.4b support the CEA video modes as per range of CEA-861-D (VIC 1-64).
For any other mode, the VIC filed in AVI infoframes should be 0.
HDMI 2.0 sinks, support video modes range as per CEA-861-F spec, which is
extended to (VIC 1-107).

This patch adds a bool input variable, which indicates if the connected
sink is a HDMI 2.0 sink or not. This will make sure that we don't pass a
HDMI 2.0 VIC to a HDMI 1.4 sink.

This patch touches all drm drivers, who are callers of this function
drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_from_display_mode but to make sure there is
no change in current behavior, is_hdmi2 is kept as false.

In case of I915 driver, this patch:
- checks if the connected display is HDMI 2.0.
- HDMI infoframes carry one of this two type of information:
	- VIC for 4K modes for HDMI 1.4 sinks
	- S3D information for S3D modes
  As CEA-861-F has already defined VICs for 4K videomodes, this
  patch doesn't allow sending HDMI infoframes for HDMI 2.0 sinks,
  until the mode is 3D.

Attach the tv_format property to the SDVO connector instead of passing
a '0' in place of the pointer to the property. This got broken when
the SDVO connector properties were converted to atomic.

630d30a4ee drm/i915: Convert intel_sdvo connector properties to atomic.
SDVO was the last connector that's still using the legacy paths
for properties, and this is with a reason!

This connector implements a lot of properties dynamically,
and some of them shared with the digital connector state,
so sdvo_connector_state subclasses intel_digital_connector_state.

set_property had a lot of validation, but this is handled in the
drm core, so most of the validation can die off. The properties
are written right before enabling the connector, since there is no
good way to update the properties without crtc.
