Add support for the automatic fan speed control interface as
implemented by IT8705F chips up to revision F and IT8712F chips up to
revision G. This implementation fits very well in our standard sysfs
interface.
I implemented the old and not the new interface because the only chip
I have at hand is an old one, and the new interface is more difficult
to map to the standard sysfs interface. Adding support later should be
possible though, if someone with a supported chip is interested.

Tested successfully with an ADM1032 chip on its evaluation board. It
should work fine with all other chips as well.
At this point this is more of a proof-of-concept, we don't do anything
terribly useful on SMBus alert: we simply log the event. But this could
later evolve into libsensors signaling so that user-space applications
can take an appropriate action.

There is no point in implementing a detect callback for the LTC4215

Improve the example code to be at least useable, as in not causing
harm (as shown below). Code can still be improved further, but this
adds some basic safeguards.
1. hpfall *MUST* mlockall(MCL_CURRENT|MCL_FUTURE); itself!
Since the Program sits and waits most of the time it becomes very likely
swapped out. If it gets woken up when the laptop drops from the table
while it is swapped out it actually triggers harddrive activity!
2. Daemonize hpfall using 'daemon(0,0)' (quick and dirty).

This driver exposes ACPI 4.0 compliant power meters as hardware monitoring
devices. This second revision of the driver also exports the ACPI string
info as sysfs attributes, a list of the devices that the meter measures,
and will send ACPI notifications over the ACPI netlink socket. This
latest revision only enables the power capping controls if it can be
confirmed that the power cap can be enforced by the hardware and explains
how the notification interfaces work.

temperature, the battery temperature and the auxiliary inputs

Currently no alarms are supported, though digital comparators on
the WM831x devices would allow these to be provided.

on the system configuration the value is reported as a voltage to

reads anything except 0, so I expect to get zero from the current and

The Texas Instruments TMP121 is a SPI temperature sensor very similar
to the LM70, with slightly higher resolution. This patch extends the
LM70 driver to support the TMP121. The TMP123 differs in pin assign-

It turns out that the adt7470's automatic fan control algorithm only works
when the temperature sensors get updated. This in turn happens only when
someone tells the chip to read its temperature sensors. Regrettably, this
means that we have to drive the chip periodically.

This adds a driver to the accelerometer sensor found in several HP
laptops (under the commercial names of "HP Mobile Data Protection System
3D" and "HP 3D driveguard"). It tries to have more or less the same
interfaces as the hdaps and other accelerometer drivers: in sysfs and as
a joystick.
This driver was first written by Yan Burman. Eric Piel has updated it
and slimed it up (including the removal of an interface to access to the
free-fall feature of the sensor because it is not reliable enough for
now). Pavel Machek removed few more features and switched locking from
semaphore to mutex.
Several people have contributed to the database of the axes.

The LM99 differs from the LM86, LM89 and LM90 in that it reports
remote temperatures (temp2) 16 degrees lower than they really are. So
far we have been cheating and handled this in userspace but it really
should be handled by the driver directly.

The it87 driver doesn't follow the standard sensor type values as
documented in Documentation/hwmon/sysfs-interface. It uses value 2 for
thermistors instead of value 4. This causes "sensors" to tell the user
that the chip is setup for a transistor while it is actually setup for
a thermistor.
Using value 4 for thermistors solves the problem. For compatibility
reasons, we still accept value 2 but emit a warning message so that
users update their configuration files.

units of 1 Hz, instead of the non-standard pwm[1-*]_auto_pwm_freq

also confusing, because it suggested that the frequency value only
applied in automatic fan speed mode, which isn't true.

We have the following naming convention documented in
Documentation/hwmon/sysfs-interface for fault files:
in[0-*]_input_fault
fan[1-*]_input_fault
temp[1-*]_input_fault
Some drivers follow this convention (lm63, lm83, lm90, smsc47m192).
However some drivers omit the "input" part and create files named
fan1_fault (pc87427) or temp1_fault (dme1737). And the new "generic"
libsensors follows this second (non-standard) convention, so it fails
to report fault conditions for drivers which follow the standard.
We want a single naming scheme, and everyone seems to prefer the
shorter variant, so let's go for it.

To make things a bit more confusing, two of the voltage input pins (in4
and in8) can be used for other functions. The driver reads the pin
configuration from the Super-I/O configuration space to decide whether
it must create interface files for these inputs or not.

This interface was useless as the LPC ISA-like interface is always
available, is faster, and is more reliable. This cuts the driver
size by some 20%.
This change is also required to later convert the it87 driver to a
platform driver, so that we can get rid of i2c-isa in a near future.

it87: Add support for the IT8718F
The IT8718F is a Super-I/O chip with integrated hardware monitoring
functions. It is very similar to the IT8716F, so adding support to the
it87 driver was pretty straightforward. The most significant difference
is that the IT8718F has up to 8 VID pins, instead of 6 for the older
chips.
For the IT8718F, the VID value can only be read from Super-I/O space.

This driver implements support for the National Semiconductor LM70
temperature sensor.
The LM70 temperature sensor chip supports a single temperature sensor.
It communicates with a host processor (or microcontroller) via an
SPI/Microwire Bus interface.
Communication with the LM70 is simple: when the temperature is to be sensed,
the driver accesses the LM70 using SPI communication: 16 SCLK cycles
comprise the MOSI/MISO loop. At the end of the transfer, the 11-bit 2's
complement digital temperature (sent via the SIO line), is available in the
driver for interpretation. This driver makes use of the kernel's in-core
SPI support.

Extend the sysfs interface of hardware monitoring chips, by adding
individual alarm and beep files. Contrary to the old aggregated "alarms"
and "beeps" files, individual files constitute a standard way to access
the status information, making it finally possible to implement a
chip-independant hardware monitoring chip access library (once all
drivers have been added this new interface, that is.)
If future drivers need more individual files, the interface will be
extended as needed at the same time these drivers are merged into the
kernel tree.

Only scan I2C address 0x2d. This is the default address and no IT87xxF
chip was ever seen on I2C at a different address. These chips are
better accessed through their ISA interface anyway.
This fixes bug #5889, although it doesn't address the whole class
of problems. We'd need the ability to blacklist arbitrary I2C addresses
on systems known to contain I2C devices which behave badly when probed.
Plan the I2C interface for removal as well. If nobody complains within
a year, it will confirm my impression that the I2C interface isn't
actually needed by anyone.

This is my f71805f hardware monitoring driver ported from lm_sensors
to Linux 2.6. This new driver differs from the other hardware monitoring
drivers in that it is implemented as a platform driver. This might not
be optimal yet (we would probably need a generic infrastructure and bus
type for Super-I/O logical devices) but it is certainly much better than
the i2c-isa solution.
Note that this driver requires lm_sensors CVS. I hope to get it

Add PEC support to the lm90 driver. Only the ADM1032 chip supports it,
and in a rather tricky way, which is why this patch comes with
documentation reinforcements. At least, this demonstrates that the new
PEC support logic in i2c-core can properly deal with chips with partial
PEC support.
As enabling PEC causes a significant performance drop, it can be
disabled through a sysfs file (unsurprisingly named "pec").

Drop the separate client name for the LM78-J chip. This is really
only a later revision of the LM78, with almost no difference and
no difference the driver handles in any case.
This was the only client name that had a dash in it, and special care
had to be taken in libsensors because of it. As we plan to write a new
library soon, I'd like to get rid of this exception before we do.
