9773ef18b8 net: aquantia: Introduce rx refill threshold value
Before that, we've refilled ring even on single descriptor move.
Under high packet load that caused page allocation logic to be triggered
too often. That made overall ring processing slower.

Moreover, with page buffer reuse implemented, we should give a chance
higher networking levels to process received packets faster, release
the pages they consumed and therefore give a higher chance for these
pages to be reused.

RX ring is now refilled only when AQ_CFG_RX_REFILL_THRES or more
descriptors were processed (32 by default). Under regular traffic this
gives quite enough time for packet to be consumed and page to be reused.

46f4c29d9d net: aquantia: optimize rx performance by page reuse strategy
We introduce internal aq_rxpage wrapper over regular page
where extra field is tracked: rxpage offset inside of allocated page.

This offset allows to reuse one page for multiple packets.
When needed (for example with large frames processing), allocated
pageorder could be customized. This gives even larger page reuse
efficiency.

page_ref_count is used to track page users. If during rx refill
underlying page has users, we increase pg_off by rx frame size
thus the top half of the page is reused.

7e2698c4fd net: aquantia: optimize rx path using larger preallocated skb len
Atlantic driver used 14 bytes preallocated skb size. That made L3 protocol
processing inefficient because pskb_pull had to fetch all the L3/L4 headers
from extra fragments.

Specially on UDP flows that caused extra packet drops because CPU was
overloaded with pskb_pull.

This patch uses eth_get_headlen for skb preallocation.

a7faaa0c5d net: aquantia: fix rx checksum offload for UDP/TCP over IPv6
TCP/UDP checksum validity was propagated to skb
only if IP checksum is valid.
But for IPv6 there is no validity as there is no checksum in IPv6.
This patch propagates TCP/UDP checksum validity regardless of IP checksum.

4cc1feeb6f Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net
Several conflicts, seemingly all over the place.

I used Stephen Rothwell's sample resolutions for many of these, if not
just to double check my own work, so definitely the credit largely
goes to him.

The NFP conflict consisted of a bug fix (moving operations
past the rhashtable operation) while chaning the initial
argument in the function call in the moved code.

The net/dsa/master.c conflict had to do with a bug fix intermixing of
making dsa_master_set_mtu() static with the fixing of the tagging
attribute location.

cls_flower had a conflict because the dup reject fix from Or
overlapped with the addition of port range classifiction.

__set_phy_supported()'s conflict was relatively easy to resolve
because Andrew fixed it in both trees, so it was just a matter
of taking the net-next copy. Or at least I think it was :-)

Joe Stringer's fix to the handling of netns id 0 in bpf_sk_lookup()
intermixed with changes on how the sdif and caller_net are calculated
in these code paths in net-next.

The remaining BPF conflicts were largely about the addition of the
__bpf_md_ptr stuff in 'net' overlapping with adjustments and additions
to the relevant data structure where the MD pointer macros are used.

necessary to route the extack to __dev_open() from diverse (possibly

6f9dbadc1a net: aquantia: memory corruption on jumbo frames
This patch fixes skb_shared area, which will be corrupted
upon reception of 4K jumbo packets.

Originally build_skb usage purpose was to reuse page for skb to eliminate
needs of extra fragments. But that logic does not take into account that
skb_shared_info should be reserved at the end of skb data area.

In case packet data consumes all the page (4K), skb_shinfo location
overflows the page. As a consequence, __build_skb zeroed shinfo data above
the allocated page, corrupting next page.

The issue is rarely seen in real life because jumbo are normally larger
than 4K and that causes another code path to trigger.
But it 100% reproducible with simple scapy packet, like:

    sendp(IP(dst="192.168.100.3") / TCP(dport=443) \

The rule in MC Filter Table in NIC, that is configured to accept any

cce96d1883 net: aquantia: Regression on reset with 1.x firmware
On ASUS XG-C100C with 1.5.44 firmware a special mode called "dirty wake"
is active. With this mode when motherboard gets powered (but no poweron
happens yet), NIC automatically enables powersave link and watches
for WOL packet.
This normally allows to powerup the PC after AC power failures.

Not all motherboards or bios settings gives power to PCI slots,
so this mode is not enabled on all the hardware.

4.16 linux driver introduced full hardware reset sequence
This is required since before that we had no NIC hardware
reset implemented and there were side effects of "not clean start".

But this full reset is incompatible with "dirty wake" WOL feature
it keeps the PHY link in a special mode forever. As a consequence,
driver sees no link and no traffic.

To fix this we forcibly change FW state to idle state before doing
the full reset. This makes FW to restore link state.

03fe2debbb Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net
Fun set of conflict resolutions here...

For the mac80211 stuff, these were fortunately just parallel
adds.  Trivially resolved.

In drivers/net/phy/phy.c we had a bug fix in 'net' that moved the
function phy_disable_interrupts() earlier in the file, whilst in
'net-next' the phy_error() call from this function was removed.

In net/ipv4/xfrm4_policy.c, David Ahern's changes to remove the
'rt_table_id' member of rtable collided with a bug fix in 'net' that
added a new struct member "rt_mtu_locked" which needs to be copied
over here.

The mlxsw driver conflict consisted of net-next separating
the span code and definitions into separate files, whilst
a 'net' bug fix made some changes to that moved code.

The mlx5 infiniband conflict resolution was quite non-trivial,
the RDMA tree's merge commit was used as a guide here, and
here are their notes:

====================

    Due to bug fixes found by the syzkaller bot and taken into the for-rc
    branch after development for the 4.17 merge window had already started
    being taken into the for-next branch, there were fairly non-trivial
    merge issues that would need to be resolved between the for-rc branch
    and the for-next branch. This merge resolves those conflicts and
    provides a unified base upon which ongoing development for 4.17 can
    be based.

    Conflicts:
            drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/main.c - Commit 42cea83f95
            (IB/mlx5: Fix cleanup order on unload) added to for-rc and
            commit b5ca15ad7e (IB/mlx5: Add proper representors support)
            add as part of the devel cycle both needed to modify the
            init/de-init functions used by mlx5. To support the new
            representors, the new functions added by the cleanup patch
            needed to be made non-static, and the init/de-init list
            added by the representors patch needed to be modified to
            match the init/de-init list changes made by the cleanup
            patch.
    Updates:
            drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/mlx5_ib.h - Update function
            prototypes added by representors patch to reflect new function
            names as changed by cleanup patch
            drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/ib_rep.c - Update init/de-init
            stage list to match new order from cleanup patch

4948293ff9 net: aquantia: Introduce new AQC devices and capabilities
A number of new AQC devices is going to be released. To support more
flexible capabilities management a number of static caps instances is now
declared. Devices now are mainly differs by supported speeds, but in future
more parameters will be customized. A set of AQC100 devices have
fibre media, not twisted pair - this is also reflected in
new capabilities definitions.

HW level also now directly exports hw_ops for each of A0/B0 hardware.

PCI configuration now uses a device configuration table where each
device ID is explicitly mapped with hardware OPs and capabilities
structures.

e99e88a9d2 treewide: setup_timer() -> timer_setup()
This converts all remaining cases of the old setup_timer() API into using
timer_setup(), where the callback argument is the structure already
holding the struct timer_list. These should have no behavioral changes,
since they just change which pointer is passed into the callback with
the same available pointers after conversion. It handles the following
examples, in addition to some other variations.

Casting from unsigned long:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
        struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, ptr);

and forced object casts:

    void my_callback(struct something *ptr)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, (unsigned long)ptr);

become:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
    {
        struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
    ...
    }
    ...
    timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

Direct function assignments:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
        struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
    ...
    }
    ...
    ptr->my_timer.function = my_callback;

have a temporary cast added, along with converting the args:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
    {
        struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
    ...
    }
    ...
    ptr->my_timer.function = (TIMER_FUNC_TYPE)my_callback;

And finally, callbacks without a data assignment:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

have their argument renamed to verify they're unused during conversion:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *unused)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

The conversion is done with the following Coccinelle script:

spatch --very-quiet --all-includes --include-headers \
	-I ./arch/x86/include -I ./arch/x86/include/generated \
	-I ./include -I ./arch/x86/include/uapi \
	-I ./arch/x86/include/generated/uapi -I ./include/uapi \

453f85d43f mm: remove __GFP_COLD
As the page free path makes no distinction between cache hot and cold
pages, there is no real useful ordering of pages in the free list that
allocation requests can take advantage of. Juding from the users of
__GFP_COLD, it is likely that a number of them are the result of copying
other sites instead of actually measuring the impact. Remove the
__GFP_COLD parameter which simplifies a number of paths in the page
allocator.

This is potentially controversial but bear in mind that the size of the
per-cpu pagelists versus modern cache sizes means that the whole per-cpu
list can often fit in the L3 cache. Hence, there is only a potential
benefit for microbenchmarks that alloc/free pages in a tight loop. It's
even worse when THP is taken into account which has little or no chance
of getting a cache-hot page as the per-cpu list is bypassed and the
zeroing of multiple pages will thrash the cache anyway.

The truncate microbenchmarks are not shown as this patch affects the
allocation path and not the free path. A page fault microbenchmark was
tested but it showed no sigificant difference which is not surprising
given that the __GFP_COLD branches are a miniscule percentage of the
fault path.

417a3ae4b1 net: aquantia: Bad udp rate on default interrupt coalescing
Default Tx rates cause very long ISR delays on Tx.
0xff is 510us delay, giving only ~ 2000 interrupts per seconds for
Tx rings cleanup. With these settings udp tx rate was never higher than
~800Mbps on a single stream. Changing min delay to 0xF makes it
way better with ~6Gbps

TCP stream performance is almost unaffected by this change, since LSO
optimizations play important role.

CPU load is affected insignificantly by this change.

eb36bedf28 net: aquantia: remove function aq_ring_tx_deinit
Both functions aq_ring_rx_deinit() and aq_ring_tx_clean() are almost
identical aside from an additional check in the latter.
Move that check from the function into its caller and replace
aq_ring_rx_deinit() with aq_ring_rx_deinit().

By doing this also adjust the functions return value from int to void
since it can never fail.
