IPV6, unlike IPV4, doesn't have a routing cache.
Routing table entries, as well as clones made in response
to route lookup requests, all live in the same table. And
all of these things are together collected in the destination
cache table for ipv6.
This means that routing table entries count against the garbage
collection limits, even though such entries cannot ever be reclaimed
and are added explicitly by the administrator (rather than being
created in response to lookups).
Therefore it makes no sense to count ipv6 routing table entries
against the GC limits.
Add a DST_NOCOUNT destination cache entry flag, and skip the counting
if it is set. Use this flag bit in ipv6 when adding routing table
entries.

The message size allocated for rtnl ifinfo dumps was limited to
a single page. This is not enough for additional interface info
available with devices that support SR-IOV and caused a bug in
which VF info would not be displayed if more than approximately
40 VFs were created per interface.
Implement a new function pointer for the rtnl_register service that will
calculate the amount of data required for the ifinfo dump and allocate
enough data to satisfy the request.

The changes introduced with git-commit a02e4b7d ("ipv6: Demark default
hoplimit as zero.") missed to remove the hoplimit initialization. As a
result, ipv6_get_mtu interprets the return value of dst_metric_raw
(-1) as 255 and answers ping6 with this hoplimit. This patche removes
the line such that ping6 is answered with the hoplimit value
configured via sysctl.

[ipv6] Add support for RTA_PREFSRC
This patch allows a user to select the preferred source address
for a specific IPv6-Route. It can be set via a netlink message
setting RTA_PREFSRC to a valid IPv6 address which must be
up on the device the route will be bound to.

In commit d80bc0fd26 ("ipv6: Always
clone offlink routes.") we forced the kernel to always clone offlink
routes.
The reason we do that is to make sure we never bind an inetpeer to a
prefixed route.
The logic turned on here has existed in the tree for many years,
but was always off due to a protecting CPP define. So perhaps
it's no surprise that there is a logic bug here.
The problem is that we canot clone a route that is already a
host route (ie. has DST_HOST set). Because if we do, an identical
entry already exists in the routing tree and therefore the
ip6_rt_ins() call is going to fail.
This sets off a series of failures and high cpu usage, because when
ip6_rt_ins() fails we loop retrying this operation a few times in
order to handle a race between two threads trying to clone and insert
the same host route at the same time.
Fix this by simply using the route as-is when DST_HOST is set.

in ipv4 and ipv6 have been converted, the rest have been left
along and kept at the existing "0".

If we didn't have a routing cache, we would not be able to properly
propagate certain kinds of dynamic path attributes, for example
PMTU information and redirects.
The reason is that if we didn't have a routing cache, then there would
be no way to lookup all of the active cached routes hanging off of
sockets, tunnels, IPSEC bundles, etc.
Consider the case where we created a cached route, but no inetpeer
entry existed and also we were not asked to pre-COW the route metrics
and therefore did not force the creation a new inetpeer entry.
If we later get a PMTU message, or a redirect, and store this
information in a new inetpeer entry, there is no way to teach that
cached route about the newly existing inetpeer entry.
The facilities implemented here handle this problem.
First we create a generation ID. When we create a cached route of any
kind, we remember the generation ID at the time of attachment. Any
time we force-create an inetpeer entry in response to new path
information, we bump that generation ID.
The dst_ops->check() callback is where the knowledge of this event
is propagated. If the global generation ID does not equal the one
stored in the cached route, and the cached route has not attached
to an inetpeer yet, we look it up and attach if one is found. Now
that we've updated the cached route's information, we update the
route's generation ID too.
This clears the way for implementing PMTU and redirects directly in
the inetpeer cache. There is absolutely no need to consult cached
route information in order to maintain this information.
At this point nothing bumps the inetpeer genids, that comes in the
later changes which handle PMTUs and redirects using inetpeers.

When an IPSEC SA is still being set up, __xfrm_lookup() will return
-EREMOTE and so ip_route_output_flow() will return a blackhole route.
This can happen in a sndmsg call, and after d33e455337 ("net: Abstract
default MTU metric calculation behind an accessor.") this leads to a
crash in ip_append_data() because the blackhole dst_ops have no
default_mtu() method and so dst_mtu() calls a NULL pointer.
Fix this by adding default_mtu() methods (that simply return 0, matching
the old behavior) to the blackhole dst_ops.
The IPv4 part of this patch fixes a crash that I saw when using an IPSEC
VPN; the IPv6 part is untested because I don't have an IPv6 VPN, but it
looks to be needed as well.

the generic metrics COW'ing mechanism using kmalloc/kfree.
This gives the IPSEC routes an opportunity to use metrics
which are unique to their encapsulated paths.

They are bogus. The basic idea is that I wanted to make sure
that prefixed routes never bind to peers.
The test I used was whether RTF_CACHE was set.
But first of all, the RTF_CACHE flag is set at different spots
depending upon which ip6_rt_copy() caller you're talking about.
I've validated all of the code paths, and even in the future
where we bind peers more aggressively (for route metric COW'ing)
we never bind to prefix'd routes, only fully specified ones.
This even applies when addrconf or icmp6 routes are allocated.

Routing metrics are now copy-on-write.
Initially a route entry points it's metrics at a read-only location.
If a routing table entry exists, it will point there. Else it will
point at the all zero metric place-holder called 'dst_default_metrics'.
The writeability state of the metrics is stored in the low bits of the
metrics pointer, we have two bits left to spare if we want to store
more states.
For the initial implementation, COW is implemented simply via kmalloc.
However future enhancements will change this to place the writable
metrics somewhere else, in order to increase sharing. Very likely
this "somewhere else" will be the inetpeer cache.
Note also that this means that metrics updates may transiently fail
if we cannot COW the metrics successfully.
But even by itself, this patch should decrease memory usage and
increase cache locality especially for routing workloads. In those
cases the read-only metric copies stay in place and never get written
to.
TCP workloads where metrics get updated, and those rare cases where
PMTU triggers occur, will take a very slight performance hit. But
that hit will be alleviated when the long-term writable metrics
move to a more sharable location.
Since the metrics storage went from a u32 array of RTAX_MAX entries to
what is essentially a pointer, some retooling of the dst_entry layout
was necessary.
Most importantly, we need to preserve the alignment of the reference
count so that it doesn't share cache lines with the read-mostly state,
as per Eric Dumazet's alignment assertion checks.
The only non-trivial bit here is the move of the 'flags' member into
the writeable cacheline. This is OK since we are always accessing the
flags around the same moment when we made a modification to the
reference count.

The first big packets sent to a "low-MTU" client correctly
triggers the creation of a temporary route containing the reduced MTU.
But after the temporary route has expired, new ICMP6 "packet too big"
will be sent, rt6_pmtu_discovery will find the previous EXPIRED route
check that its mtu isn't bigger then in icmp packet and do nothing
before the temporary route will not deleted by gc.
I make the simple experiment:

The "time" reports real 0m0.197s if a temporary route isn't expired, but
it reports real 0m52.837s (!!!!) immediately after a temporare route has

Like RTAX_ADVMSS, make the default calculation go through a dst_ops
method rather than caching the computation in the routing cache
entries.
Now dst metrics are pretty much left as-is when new entries are
created, thus optimizing metric sharing becomes a real possibility.

Make all RTAX_ADVMSS metric accesses go through a new helper function,
dst_metric_advmss().
Leave the actual default metric as "zero" in the real metric slot,
and compute the actual default value dynamically via a new dst_ops
AF specific callback.
For stacked IPSEC routes, we use the advmss of the path which
preserves existing behavior.
Unlike ipv4/ipv6, DecNET ties the advmss to the mtu and thus updates
advmss on pmtu updates. This inconsistency in advmss handling
results in more raw metric accesses than I wish we ended up with.

Use helper functions to hide all direct accesses, especially writes,
to dst_entry metrics values.
This will allow us to:
1) More easily change how the metrics are stored.
2) Implement COW for metrics.
In particular this will help us put metrics into the inetpeer
cache if that is what we end up doing. We can make the _metrics
member a pointer instead of an array, initially have it point
at the read-only metrics in the FIB, and then on the first set
grab an inetpeer entry and point the _metrics member there.

There're some percpu_counter list corruption and poison overwritten warnings
in recent kernel, which is resulted by fc66f95c.
commit fc66f95c switches to use percpu_counter, in ip6_route_net_init, kernel
init the percpu_counter for dst entries, but, the percpu_counter is never destroyed
in ip6_route_net_exit. So if the related data is freed by kernel, the freed percpu_counter
is still on the list, then if we insert/remove other percpu_counter, list corruption
resulted. Also, if the insert/remove option modifies the ->prev,->next pointer of
the freed value, the poison overwritten is resulted then.
With the following patch, the percpu_counter list corruption and poison overwritten
warnings disappeared.

struct dst_ops tracks number of allocated dst in an atomic_t field,
subject to high cache line contention in stress workload.
Switch to a percpu_counter, to reduce number of time we need to dirty a
central location. Place it on a separate cache line to avoid dirtying
read only fields.

AnyIP is the capability to receive packets and establish incoming
connections on IPs we have not explicitly configured on the machine.
An example use case is to configure a machine to accept all incoming
traffic on eth0, and leave the policy of whether traffic for a given IP
should be delivered to the machine up to the load balancer.
Can be setup as follows:
ip -6 rule from all iif eth0 lookup 200
ip -6 route add local default dev lo table 200
(in this case for all IPv6 addresses)

sysctl output ipv6 gc_elasticity and min_adv_mss as values divided by
HZ. However, they are not in unit of jiffies, since ip6_rt_min_advmss
refers to packet size and ip6_rt_fc_elasticity is used as scaler as in
expire>>ip6_rt_gc_elasticity, so replace the jiffies conversion
handler will regular handler for them.
This has impact on scripts that are currently working assuming the
divide by HZ, will yield different results with this patch in place.

Commit f4f914b5 (net: ipv6 bind to device issue) caused
a regression with Mobile IPv6 when it changed the meaning
of fl->oif to become a strict requirement of the route
lookup. Instead, only force strict mode when
sk->sk_bound_dev_if is set on the calling socket, getting
the intended behavior and fixing the regression.

This patch removes from net/ (but not any netfilter files)
all the unnecessary return; statements that precede the
last closing brace of void functions.
It does not remove the returns that are immediately
preceded by a label as gcc doesn't like that.

The issue raises when having 2 NICs both assigned the same
IPv6 global address.
If a sender binds to a particular NIC (SO_BINDTODEVICE),
the outgoing traffic is being sent via the first found.
The bonded device is thus not taken into an account during the
routing.
From the ip6_route_output function:
If the binding address is multicast, linklocal or loopback,
the RT6_LOOKUP_F_IFACE bit is set, but not for global address.
So binding global address will neglect SO_BINDTODEVICE-binded device,
because the fib6_rule_lookup function path won't check for the
flowi::oif field and take first route that fits.

percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.
percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.

The script does the followings.
* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used,
gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.
* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains
core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
doesn't seem to be any matching order.
* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
file.
The conversion was done in the following steps.
1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400
files.
2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion,
some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added
inclusions to around 150 files.
3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.
4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.
5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h
inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each
slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
necessary.
6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.
7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).
* x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
* powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
* sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
* ia64 SMP allmodconfig
* s390 SMP allmodconfig
* alpha SMP allmodconfig
* um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig
8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
a separate patch and serve as bisection point.
Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

RFC 4291 section 2.4 states that all uncategorized addresses
should be considered as Global Unicast.
This will remove IPV6_ADDR_RESERVED completely
and return IPV6_ADDR_UNICAST in ipv6_addr_type() instead.

sysctl table was copied, all right, but ->data for net.ipv6.route.gc_min_interval_ms
was not reinitialized for "!= &init_net" case.
In init_net everthing works by accident due to correct ->data initialization
in source table.

Now that sys_sysctl is a compatiblity wrapper around /proc/sys
all sysctl strategy routines, and all ctl_name and strategy
entries in the sysctl tables are unused, and can be
revmoed.
In addition neigh_sysctl_register has been modified to no longer
take a strategy argument and it's callers have been modified not
to pass one.

RFC4191 says that "If the Reserved (10) value is received, the Route
Information Option MUST be ignored.", so this patch makes us conform
to the RFC. This is different to the usage of the Default Router
Preference, where an invalid value must indeed be treated as
PREF_MEDIUM.

struct net::ipv6.ip6_dst_ops is separatedly dynamically allocated,
but there is no fundamental reason for it. Embed it directly into
struct netns_ipv6.
For that:
* move struct dst_ops into separate header to fix circular dependencies
I honestly tried not to, it's pretty impossible to do other way
* drop dynamical allocation, allocate together with netns
For a change, remove struct dst_ops::dst_net, it's deducible
by using container_of() given dst_ops pointer.

install IPv6 default route:

This patch changes the return value of nlmsg_notify() as follows:
If NETLINK_BROADCAST_ERROR is set by any of the listeners and
an error in the delivery happened, return the broadcast error;
else if there are no listeners apart from the socket that
requested a change with the echo flag, return the result of the
unicast notification. Thus, with this patch, the unicast
notification is handled in the same way of a broadcast listener
that has set the NETLINK_BROADCAST_ERROR socket flag.
This patch is useful in case that the caller of nlmsg_notify()
wants to know the result of the delivery of a netlink notification
(including the broadcast delivery) and take any action in case
that the delivery failed. For example, ctnetlink can drop packets
if the event delivery failed to provide reliable logging and
state-synchronization at the cost of dropping packets.
This patch also modifies the rtnetlink code to ignore the return
value of rtnl_notify() in all callers. The function rtnl_notify()
(before this patch) returned the error of the unicast notification
which makes rtnl_set_sk_err() reports errors to all listeners. This
is not of any help since the origin of the change (the socket that
requested the echoing) notices the ENOBUFS error if the notification
fails and should resync itself.

This patch addresses the IPv6 multicast routing issues described
below. It was tested with XORP 1.4/1.5 as the IPv6 PIM-SM routing
daemon against FreeBSD peers.
net/ipv6/ip6_input.c:
- Don't try to forward link-local multicast packets.
- Don't reset skb2->dev before calling ip6_mr_input() so packets can
be identified as coming from the PIM register vif properly.
net/ipv6/ip6mr.c:
- Fix incoming PIM register messages processing:
* The IPv6 pseudo-header should be included when checksumming PIM
messages (RFC 4601 section 4.9; RFC 3973 section 4.7.1).
* Packets decapsulated from PIM register messages should have
skb->protocol ETH_P_IPV6.
- Enable/disable IPv6 multicast forwarding on the corresponding
interface when a routing daemon adds/removes a multicast virtual
interface.
- Remove incorrect skb_pull() to fix userspace signaling.
- Enable/disable global IPv6 multicast forwarding when an IPv6
multicast routing socket is opened/closed.
net/ipv6/route.c:
- Don't use strict routing logic for packets decapsulated from PIM
register messages (similar to disabling rp_filter for the IPv4
case).

Thanks to excellent diagnosis by Eduard Guzovsky.
The core problem is that on a network with lots of active
multicast traffic, the neighbour cache can fill up. If
we try to allocate a new route and thus neighbour cache
entry, the bog-standard GC attempt the neighbour layer does
in ineffective because route entries hold a reference
to the existing neighbour entries and GC can only liberate
entries with no references.
IPV4 already has a way to handle this, by doing a route cache
GC in such situations (when neigh attach returns -ENOBUFS).
So simply mimick this on the ipv6 side.

This last patch makes the appropriate changes to use and propagate the
network namespace where needed in IPv6 multicast forwarding code.
This consists mainly in replacing all the remaining init_net occurences
with current netns pointer retrieved from sockets, net devices or
mfc6_caches depending on the routines' contexts.
Some routines receive a new 'struct net' parameter to propagate the current
netns:
* ip6mr_get_route
* ip6mr_cache_report
* ip6mr_cache_find
* ip6mr_cache_unresolved
* mif6_add/mif6_delete
* ip6mr_mfc_add/ip6mr_mfc_delete
* ip6mr_reg_vif
All the IPv6 multicast forwarding variables moved to struct netns_ipv6 by
the previous patches are now referenced in the correct namespace.

I want to compile out proc_* and sysctl_* handlers totally and
stub them to NULL depending on config options, however usage of &
will prevent this, since taking adress of NULL pointer will break
compilation.
So, drop & in front of every ->proc_handler and every ->strategy
handler, it was never needed in fact.

Johannes Berg reported that occaisionally, bringing an interface
down or unregistering it would hang for up to 30 seconds. Using
debugging output he provided it became clear that ICMP6 routes
were the culprit.
The problem is that ICMP6 routes live in their own world totally
separate from normal ipv6 routes. So there are all kinds of special
cases throughout the ipv6 code to handle this.
While we should really try to unify all of this stuff somehow,
for the time being let's fix this by purging the ICMP6 routes
that match the device in question during rt6_ifdown().

In that case we had wired value in lifetime.

Because the IPsec output function xfrm_output_resume does its
own dst_output call it should always call __ip_local_output
instead of ip_local_output as the latter may invoke dst_output
directly. Otherwise the return values from nf_hook and dst_output
may clash as they both use the value 1 but for different purposes.
When that clash occurs this can cause a packet to be used after
it has been freed which usually leads to a crash. Because the
offending value is only returned from dst_output with qdiscs
such as HTB, this bug is normally not visible.
Thanks to Marco Berizzi for his perseverance in tracking this
down.

We could not see appropriate lifetime if the route had been scheduled
to expired at 0 (in jiffies). We should check rt6i_flags instead of
rt6i_expires to determine whether lifetime is valid or not.

The commits f3db4851 ([NETNS][IPV6] ip6_fib - fib6_clean_all handle several
network namespaces) and 69ddb805 ([NETNS][IPV6] route6 - Make proc entry
/proc/net/rt6_stats per namespace) made some proc files per net.
Both of them introduced potential OOPS - get_proc_net can return NULL, but
this check is lost - and a struct net leak - in case single_open() fails the
previously got net is not put.
Kill all these bugs with one patch.

ip6_dst_ops is dynamically allocated in init and exit functions. That
provides the ability to do multiple instanciations of this structure.
This will be needed for network namespaces, indeed dst_ops stores data
that are required to be per namespace: entries and gc_thresh.

The fib tables are now relative to the network namespace. When the
garbage collector timer expires, we must have a network namespace
parameter in order to retrieve the tables. For now this is the
init_net, but we should be able to have a timer per namespace and use
the timer callback parameter to pass the network namespace from the
expired timer.
The timer callback, fib6_run_gc, is actually used to be called
synchronously by some functions and asynchronously when the timer
expires.
When the timer expires, the delay specified for fib6_run_gc parameter
is always zero. So, I changed fib6_run_gc to not be a timer callback
but a function called by the timer callback and I added a timer
callback where its work is just to retrieve from the data arg of the
timer the network namespace and call fib6_run_gc with zero expiring
time and the network namespace parameters. That makes the code cleaner
for the fib6_run_gc callers.

The fib table for ipv6 are moved to the network namespace structure.
All references to them are made relatively to the network namespace.
All external calls to the ip6_fib functions taking the network
namespace parameter are made using the init_net variable, so the
ip6_fib engine is ready for the namespaces but the callers not yet.

it is unchanged, and so it fails to update the MSS accordingly. This

The garbage collection function receive the dst_ops structure as
parameter. This is useful for the next incoming patchset because it
will need the dst_ops (there will be several instances) and the
network namespace pointer (contained in the dst_ops).
The protocols which do not take care of the namespaces will not be
impacted by this change (expect for the function signature), they do
just ignore the parameter.

nl_info is used to track the end-user destination of routing change
notification. This is a natural object to hold a namespace on. Place
it there and utilize the context in the appropriate places.

namespace structure. A helper function is called to initialize the
variables.
Because the ipv6 protocol is not yet per namespace, the variables are
accessed relatively from the network namespace.

Each network namespace wants its own set of sysctl value, eg. we
should not be able from a namespace to set a sysctl value for another
namespace , especially for the initial network namespace.
This patch duplicates the sysctl table when we register a new network
namespace for ipv6. The duplicated table are postfixed with the
"template" word to notify the developper the table is cloned.

If the kmem_cache_creation fails, the kernel will panic. It is
acceptable if the system is booting, but if the ipv6 protocol is
compiled as a module and it is loaded after the system has booted, do
we want to panic instead of just failing to initialize the protocol ?
The init function is now returning an error and this one is checked
for protocol initialization. So the ipv6 protocol will safely fails.

The route initialization function does not return any value to notify
if the initialization is successful or not. This patch checks all
calls made for the initilization in order to return a value for the
caller.
Unfortunately, proc_net_fops_create will return a NULL pointer if
CONFIG_PROC_FS is off, so we can not check the return code without an
ifdef CONFIG_PROC_FS block in the ip6_route_init function.

This patch includes support for the Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel
Addressing Protocol (ISATAP) per RFC4214. It uses the SIT
module, and is configured using extensions to the "iproute2"
utility. The diffs are specific to the Linux 2.6.24-rc2 kernel
distribution.
This version includes the diff for ./include/linux/if.h which was
missing in the v2.4 submission and is needed to make the
patch compile. The patch has been installed, compiled and
tested in a clean 2.6.24-rc2 kernel build area.

Before I can enable rtnetlink to work in all network namespaces I need
to be certain that something won't break. So this patch deliberately
disables all of the rtnletlink methods in everything except the
initial network namespace. After the methods have been audited this
extra check can be disabled.

As part of the work on asynchrnous cryptographic operations, we need
to be able to resume from the spot where they occur. As such, it
helps if we isolate them to one spot.
This patch moves most of the remaining family-specific processing into
the common output code.

We have a number of copies of dst_discard scattered around the place
which all do the same thing, namely free a packet on the input or
output paths.
This patch deletes all of them except dst_discard and points all the
users to it.
The only non-trivial bit is decnet where it returns an error.
However, conceptually this is identical to the blackhole functions
used in IPv4 and IPv6 which do not return errors. So they should
either all return errors or all return zero. For now I've stuck with
the majority and picked zero as the return value.
It doesn't really matter in practice since few if any driver would
react differently depending on a zero return value or NET_RX_DROP.

We omit (or delay) sending NSes for known-to-unreachable routers (in
NUD_FAILED state) according to RFC 4191 (Default Router Preferences
and More-Specific Routes). But this is not fully compatible with RFC
4861 (Neighbor Discovery Protocol for IPv6), which does not remember
unreachability of neighbors.
So, let's avoid mixing sending algorithm of RFC 4191 and that of RFC
4861, and make the algorithm more friendly with RFC 4861 if RFC 4191
is disabled.
Issue was found by IPv6 Ready Logo Core Self_Test 1.5.0b2 (by TAHI
Project), and has been tracked down by Mitsuru Chinen
<mitch@linux.vnet.ibm.com>.

This patch makes loopback_dev per network namespace. Adding
code to create a different loopback device for each network
namespace and adding the code to free a loopback device
when a network namespace exits.
This patch modifies all users the loopback_dev so they
access it as init_net.loopback_dev, keeping all of the
code compiling and working. A later pass will be needed to
update the users to use something other than the initial network
namespace.

This change allows the generic attribute interface to be used within
the netfilter subsystem where this flag was initially introduced.
The byte-order flag is yet unused, it's intended use is to
allow automatic byte order convertions for all atomic types.

This patch makes most of the generic device layer network
namespace safe. This patch makes dev_base_head a
network namespace variable, and then it picks up
a few associated variables. The functions:

__dev_get_by_name
dev_get_by_index
__dev_get_by_index
dev_ioctl
dev_ethtool
dev_load
wireless_process_ioctl
were modified to take a network namespace argument, and
deal with it.
vlan_ioctl_set and brioctl_set were modified so their
hooks will receive a network namespace argument.
So basically anthing in the core of the network stack that was
affected to by the change of dev_base was modified to handle
multiple network namespaces. The rest of the network stack was
simply modified to explicitly use &init_net the initial network
namespace. This can be fixed when those components of the network
stack are modified to handle multiple network namespaces.
For now the ifindex generator is left global.
Fundametally ifindex numbers are per namespace, or else
we will have corner case problems with migration when
we get that far.
At the same time there are assumptions in the network stack
that the ifindex of a network device won't change. Making
the ifindex number global seems a good compromise until
the network stack can cope with ifindex changes when
you change namespaces, and the like.

This patch makes /proc/net per network namespace. It modifies the global
variables proc_net and proc_net_stat to be per network namespace.
The proc_net file helpers are modified to take a network namespace argument,
and all of their callers are fixed to pass &init_net for that argument.
This ensures that all of the /proc/net files are only visible and
usable in the initial network namespace until the code behind them
has been updated to be handle multiple network namespaces.
Making /proc/net per namespace is necessary as at least some files
in /proc/net depend upon the set of network devices which is per
network namespace, and even more files in /proc/net have contents
that are relevant to a single network namespace.

Slab destructors were no longer supported after Christoph's
c59def9f22 change. They've been
BUGs for both slab and slub, and slob never supported them
either.
This rips out support for the dtor pointer from kmem_cache_create()
completely and fixes up every single callsite in the kernel (there were
about 224, not including the slab allocator definitions themselves,
or the documentation references).

The current IPSEC rule resolution behavior we have does not work for a
lot of people, even though technically it's an improvement from the
-EAGAIN buisness we had before.
Right now we'll block until the key manager resolves the route. That
works for simple cases, but many folks would rather packets get
silently dropped until the key manager resolves the IPSEC rules.
We can't tell these folks to "set the socket non-blocking" because
they don't have control over the non-block setting of things like the
sockets used to resolve DNS deep inside of the resolver libraries in
libc.
With that in mind I coded up the patch below with some help from
Herbert Xu which provides packet-drop behavior during larval state
resolution, controllable via sysctl and off by default.
This lays the framework to either:
1) Make this default at some point or...
2) Move this logic into xfrm{4,6}_policy.c and implement the
ARP-like resolution queue we've all been dreaming of.
The idea would be to queue packets to the policy, then
once the larval state is resolved by the key manager we
re-resolve the route and push the packets out. The
packets would timeout if the rule didn't get resolved
in a certain amount of time.

Now the skb->nh union has just one member, .raw, i.e. it is just like the
skb->mac union, strange, no? I'm just leaving it like that till the transport
layer is done with, when we'll rename skb->mac.raw to skb->mac_header (or
->mac_header_offset?), ditto for ->{h,nh}.

For the common, open coded 'skb->mac.raw = skb->data' operation, so that we can
later turn skb->mac.raw into a offset, reducing the size of struct sk_buff in
64bit land while possibly keeping it as a pointer on 32bit.
This one touches just the most simple case, next will handle the slightly more
"complex" cases.

A packet which is being discarded because of no routes in the
forwarding path should not be counted as OutNoRoutes but as
InNoRoutes.
Additionally, on this occasion, a packet whose destinaion is
not valid should be counted as InAddrErrors separately.

As per RFC2461, section 6.3.6, item #2, when no routers on the
matching list are known to be reachable or probably reachable we
do round robin on those available routes so that we make sure
to probe as many of them as possible to detect when one becomes
reachable faster.
Each routing table has a rwlock protecting the tree and the linked
list of routes at each leaf. The round robin code executes during
lookup and thus with the rwlock taken as a reader. A small local
spinlock tries to provide protection but this does not work at all
for two reasons:
1) The round-robin list manipulation, as coded, goes like this (with
read lock held):
walk routes finding head and tail
spin_lock();
rotate list using head and tail
spin_unlock();
While one thread is rotating the list, another thread can
end up with stale values of head and tail and then proceed
to corrupt the list when it gets the lock. This ends up causing
the OOPS in fib6_add() later onthat many people have been hitting.
2) All the other code paths that run with the rwlock held as
a reader do not expect the list to change on them, they
expect it to remain completely fixed while they hold the
lock in that way.
So, simply stated, it is impossible to implement this correctly using
a manipulation of the list without violating the rwlock locking
semantics.
Reimplement using a per-fib6_node round-robin pointer. This way we
don't need to manipulate the list at all, and since the round-robin
pointer can only ever point to real existing entries we don't need
to perform any locking on the changing of the round-robin pointer
itself. We only need to reset the round-robin pointer to NULL when
the entry it is pointing to is removed.
The idea is from Thomas Graf and it is very similar to how this
was implemented before the advanced router selection code when in.

about the placement of 'inline' in function declarations.

Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const
moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential
dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to
these shared resources.
