5daf53a6eb [media] snd_tea575x: Make the module using snd_tea575x the fops owner
Before this patch the owner field of the /dev/radio# device fops was set to
the snd-tea575x-tuner module itself. Meaning that the module which was using
it could be rmmod-ed while the device is open, and then BAD things happen.

I know, as I found out the hard way :)

Note that there is no need to also somehow increase the refcount of the
snd-tea575x-tuner module itself, since any drivers using it will have
symbolic references to it.

Add PnP support to radio-sf16fmr2 driver to support SF16-FMD2 card (SB16 +
TEA5757). The driver can now handle two cards (FMR2 is hardwired to 0x384,
FMD2 can be put at 0x384 or 0x284 by PnP).
Tested with both SF16-FMR2 and SF16-FMD2 (the can work at the same time by
using kernel parameter "pnp_reserve_io=0x384,2" so the FMD2 is put at 0x284).

6fd522a6d1 [media] radio-si470x-usb: remove autosuspend, implement suspend/resume
The radio-si470x-usb driver supported both autosuspend and it stopped the
radio the moment the last user of the radio device closed it. However, that
was very confusing since if you play the audio from the device (e.g. through
arecord -D ... | aplay) then no sound would play unless you had the radio
device open at the same time, even though there is no need to do anything
with that node.

On the other hand, the actual suspend/resume functions didn't do anything,
which would fail if you *did* have the radio node open at that time.

So:

- remove autosuspend (bad idea in general for USB radio devices)
- move the start/stop out of the open/release functions into the resume/suspend
  functions.

5126f2590b [media] v4l2-dev: add flag to have the core lock all file operations
This used to be the default if the lock pointer was set, but now that lock is by
default only used for ioctl serialization. Those drivers that already used
core locking have this flag set explicitly, except for some drivers where
it was obvious that there was no need to serialize any file operations other
than ioctl.

The drivers that didn't need this flag were:

drivers/media/radio/dsbr100.c
drivers/media/radio/radio-isa.c
drivers/media/radio/radio-keene.c
drivers/media/radio/radio-miropcm20.c
drivers/media/radio/radio-mr800.c
drivers/media/radio/radio-tea5764.c
drivers/media/radio/radio-timb.c
drivers/media/video/vivi.c
sound/i2c/other/tea575x-tuner.c

The other drivers that use core locking and where it was not immediately
obvious that this flag wasn't needed were changed so that the flag is set
together with a comment that that driver needs work to avoid having to
set that flag. This will often involve taking the core lock in the fops
themselves.

Eventually this flag should go and it should not be used in new drivers.

There are a few reasons why we want to avoid core locking of non-ioctl
fops: in the case of mmap this can lead to a deadlock in rare situations
since when mmap is called the mmap_sem is held and it is possible for
other parts of the code to take that lock as well (copy_from_user()/copy_to_user()
perform a down_read(&mm->mmap_sem) when a page fault occurs).

It is very unlikely that that happens since the core lock serializes all
fops, but the kernel warns about it if lock validation is turned on.

For poll it is also undesirable to take the core lock as that can introduce
increased latency. The same is true for read/write.

While it was possible to make flags or something to turn on/off taking the
core lock for each file operation, in practice it is much simpler to just
not take it at all except for ioctl and leave it to the driver to take the
lock. There are only a handful fops compared to the zillion ioctls we have.

I also wanted to make it obvious which drivers still take the lock for all
fops, so that's why I chose to have drivers set it explicitly.

- The radio_nr module parameter must be part of the actual radio driver,
and not of the tea module.
- Changed the frequency range to the normal 76-108 MHz range instead of

137c579c12 [media] radio-isa: add framework for ISA radio drivers
We have quite a few ISA radio drivers, which are all very similar.

This framework makes it possible to reduce the code size of those drivers
and makes it much easier to keep them up to date with the latest V4L2 API
developments.

Drivers rewritten to use this framework fully pass the v4l2-compliance tests
and are properly using the ISA bus (so they can be found under /sys/bus/isa).

It is now also possible to support multiple cards using the same driver
(tested with two radio-gemtek cards).

90ab5ee941 module_param: make bool parameters really bool (drivers & misc)
module_param(bool) used to counter-intuitively take an int. In
fddd5201 (mid-2009) we allowed bool or int/unsigned int using a messy
trick.

It's time to remove the int/unsigned int option. For this version
it'll simply give a warning, but it'll break next kernel version.

8c4343e590 [media] media: tea5764: reconcile Kconfig symbol and macro
The Kconfig symbol RADIO_TEA5764_XTAL is unused. The code does use a
RADIO_TEA5764_XTAL macro, but does that rather peculiar. But there seems
to be a way to keep both. (The easiest way out would be to rip out both
the Kconfig symbol and the macro.)

Note there's also a module parameter 'use_xtal' to influence all this.

8a0a8e8e42 mfd: remove CONFIG_MFD_SUPPORT
We currently have two symbols to control compilation the MFD subsystem,
MFD_SUPPORT and MFD_CORE. The MFD_SUPPORT is actually not required
at all, it only hides the submenu when not set, with the effect that
Kconfig warns about missing dependencies when another driver selects
an MFD driver while MFD_SUPPORT is disabled. Turning the MFD submenu
back from menuconfig into a plain menu simplifies the Kconfig syntax
for those kinds of users and avoids the surprise when the menu
suddenly appears because another driver was enabled that selects this
symbol.

3f5c14d3d3 [media] drivers/media: do not use EXTRA_CFLAGS
Usage of these flags has been deprecated for nearly 4 years by:

    commit f77bf01425
    Author: Sam Ravnborg <sam@neptun.(none)>
    Date: Mon Oct 15 22:25:06 2007 +0200

        kbuild: introduce ccflags-y, asflags-y and ldflags-y

Moreover, these flags (at least EXTRA_CFLAGS) have been documented for command
line use. By default, gmake(1) do not override command line setting, so this is
likely to result in build failure or unexpected behavior.

Replace their usage by Kbuild's `{as,cc,ld}flags-y'.

ddac5c1079 [media] v4l2-ctrls: fix and improve volatile control handling
If you have a cluster of controls that is a mix of volatile and non-volatile
controls, then requesting the value of the volatile control would fail if the
master control of that cluster was non-volatile. The code assumed that the
volatile state of the master control was the same for all other controls in
the cluster.

This is now fixed.

In addition, it was clear from bugs in some drivers that it was confusing that
the ctrl->cur union had to be used in g_volatile_ctrl. Several drivers used the
'new' values instead. The framework was changed so that drivers now set the new
value instead of the current value.

This has an additional benefit as well: the volatile values are now only stored
in the 'new' value, leaving the current value alone. This is useful for
autofoo/foo control clusters where you want to have a 'foo' control act like a
volatile control if 'autofoo' is on, but as a normal control when it is off.

Since with this change the cur value is no longer overwritten when g_volatile_ctrl
is called, you can use it to remember the original 'foo' value. For example:

autofoo = 0, foo = 10 and foo is non-volatile.

Now autofoo is set to 1 and foo is marked volatile. Retrieving the foo value
will get the volatile value. Set autofoo back to 0, which marks foo as non-
volatile again, and retrieving foo will get the old current value of 10.

80845a3316 [media] v4l: make sure drivers supply a zeroed struct v4l2_subdev
Some v4l drivers currently don't initialize their struct v4l2_subdev
with zeros, and this is a problem since some of the v4l2 code expects
this. One example is the addition of internal_ops in commit 45f6f84,
after that we are at risk of random oopses with these drivers when code
in v4l2_device_register_subdev tries to dereference sd->internal_ops->*,
as can be shown by the report at http://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745213
and analysis of its crash at https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/4/1/168

Use kzalloc within problematic drivers to ensure we have a zeroed struct
v4l2_subdev.

d2c998f745 [media] typhoon: convert to unlocked_ioctl
Convert the typhoon driver from ioctl to unlocked_ioctl.

When doing this I noticed a bug where curfreq was not initialized correctly
to mutefreq (it wasn't multiplied by 16).

The initialization is now also done before the device node is created.

Convert from ioctl to unlocked_ioctl using the v4l2 core lock.

Also removed the 'exclusive access' limitation. There was no need for it
and it violates the v4l2 spec as well.

32958fdd16 [media] BKL: trivial BKL removal from V4L2 radio drivers
The patch converts a bunch of V4L2 radio drivers to unlocked_ioctl.

These are all simple conversions: most already had a lock and so the ioctl
fop could simply be replaced by unlocked_ioctl.

radio-miropcm20.c was converted to use the new V4L2 core lock.

While doing this work I noticed that many of these drivers initialized
some more fields or muted audio or something like that *after* creating
the device node. This should be done before the device node is created
to prevent problems. Especially hal tends to grab a device node as soon
as it is created.

In one or two cases the mutex_init was even done after the device creation!
