Try to sample all available rates, as sample attempts do not cost much
airtime and are appropriately spaced based on the average A-MPDU length.
This helps with faster recovery on rate fluctuations.

max_prob_rate should be selected to be very reliable, however limiting
it to single-stream on 3-stream devices is a bit much.
Allow max_prob_rate to use one stream less than the max_tp_rate.

At high data rates the average frame transmission durations are small
enough for rounding errors to matter, sometimes causing minstrel to use
slightly lower transmit rates than necessary.
To fix this, change the unit of the duration value to nanoseconds
instead of microseconds, and reorder the multiplications/divisions when
calculating the throughput metric so that they don't overflow or
truncate prematurely.
At 2-stream HT40 this makes TCP throughput a bit more stable.

Add NL80211_CMD_UPDATE_FT_IES to support update of FT IEs to the WLAN
driver and NL80211_CMD_FT_EVENT to send FT events from the WLAN driver.
This will carry the target AP's MAC address along with the relevant
Information Elements. This event is used to report received FT IEs
(MDIE, FTIE, RSN IE, TIE, RICIE). These changes allow FT to be supported
with drivers that use an internal SME instead of user space option (like
FT implementation in wpa_supplicant with mac80211-based drivers).

This is the sort of thing gcc's LTO could do, but since
we don't have that yet we can also do it manually. The
advantage is reduced code, both source and binary, e.g.

Move the sequence number arithmetic code from mac80211 to
ieee80211.h so others can use it. Also rename the functions
from _seq to _sn, they operate on the sequence number, not
the sequence_control field.
Also move macros to convert the sequence control to/from
the sequence number value from various drivers.

The per-wiphy information is getting large, to the point
where with more than the typical number of channels it's
too large and overflows, and userspace can't get any of
the information at all.
To address this (in a way that doesn't require making all
messages bigger) allow userspace to specify that it can
deal with wiphy information split across multiple parts
of the dump, and if it can split up the data. This also
splits up each channel separately so an arbitrary number
of channels can be supported.
Additionally, since GET_WIPHY has the same problem, add
support for filtering the wiphy dump and get information
for a single wiphy only, this allows userspace apps to
use dump in this case to retrieve all data from a single
device.
As userspace needs to know if all this this is supported,
add a global nl80211 feature set and include a bit for
this behaviour in it.

The station change API isn't being checked properly before
drivers are called, and as a result it is difficult to see
what should be allowed and what not.
In order to comprehensively check the API parameters parse
everything first, and then have the driver call a function
(cfg80211_check_station_change()) with the additionally
information about the kind of station that is being changed;
this allows the function to make better decisions than the
old code could.
While at it, also add a few checks, particularly in mesh
and clarify the TDLS station lifetime in documentation.
To be able to reduce a few checks, ignore any flag set bits
when the mask isn't set, they shouldn't be applied then.

Make the ability to leave the plink_state unchanged not use a
magic -1 variable that isn't in the enum, but an explicit change
flag; reject invalid plink states or actions and move the needed
constants for plink actions to the right header file. Also
reject plink_state changes for non-mesh interfaces.

When a router forwards a packet that contains the IPv4 timestamp option,
if there is no space left in the option for the router to add its own
timestamp, then the router increments the Overflow value in the option.
However, if the addresses of the routers are prespecified in the option,
then the overflow condition cannot happen: the option is structured so
that each prespecified router has a place to write its timestamp. Other
routers do not add a timestamp, so there will never be a lack of space.
This fix ensures that the Overflow value in the IPv4 timestamp option is
not incremented when the addresses of the routers are prespecified, even
if the Pointer value is greater than the Length value.

QFQ+ can select for service only 'eligible' aggregates, i.e.,
aggregates that would have started to be served also in the emulated
ideal system. As a consequence, for QFQ+ to be work conserving, at
least one of the active aggregates must be eligible when it is time to
choose the next aggregate to serve.
The set of eligible aggregates is updated through the function
qfq_update_eligible(), which does guarantee that, after its
invocation, at least one of the active aggregates is eligible.
Because of this property, this function is invoked in
qfq_deactivate_agg() to guarantee that at least one of the active
aggregates is still eligible after an aggregate has been deactivated.
In particular, the critical case is when there are other active
aggregates, but the aggregate being deactivated happens to be the only
one eligible.
However, this precaution is not needed for QFQ+ to be work conserving,
because update_eligible() is always invoked also at the beginning of
qfq_choose_next_agg(). This patch removes the additional invocation of
update_eligible() in qfq_deactivate_agg().

By definition of (the algorithm of) QFQ+, the system virtual time must
be pushed up only if there is no 'eligible' aggregate, i.e. no
aggregate that would have started to be served also in the ideal
system emulated by QFQ+. QFQ+ serves only eligible aggregates, hence
the aggregate currently in service is eligible. As a consequence, to
decide whether there is no eligible aggregate, QFQ+ must also check
whether there is no aggregate in service.

Aggregate budgets are computed so as to guarantee that, after an
aggregate has been selected for service, that aggregate has enough
budget to serve at least one maximum-size packet for the classes it
contains. For this reason, after a new aggregate has been selected
for service, its next packet is immediately dequeued, without any
further control.
The maximum packet size for a class, lmax, can be changed through
qfq_change_class(). In case the user sets lmax to a lower value than
the the size of some of the still-to-arrive packets, QFQ+ will
automatically push up lmax as it enqueues these packets. This
automatic push up is likely to happen with TSO/GSO.
In any case, if lmax is assigned a lower value than the size of some
of the packets already enqueued for the class, then the following
problem may occur: the size of the next packet to dequeue for the
class may happen to be larger than lmax, after the aggregate to which
the class belongs has been just selected for service. In this case,
even the budget of the aggregate, which is an unsigned value, may be
lower than the size of the next packet to dequeue. After dequeueing
this packet and subtracting its size from the budget, the latter would
wrap around.
This fix prevents the budget from wrapping around after any packet
dequeue.

If no aggregate is in service, then the function qfq_dequeue() does
not dequeue any packet. For this reason, to guarantee QFQ+ to be work
conserving, a just-activated aggregate must be set as in service
immediately if it happens to be the only active aggregate.
This is done by the function qfq_enqueue().
Unfortunately, the function qfq_add_to_agg(), used to add a class to
an aggregate, does not perform this important additional operation.
In particular, if: 1) qfq_add_to_agg() is invoked to complete the move
of a class from a source aggregate, becoming, for this move, inactive,
to a destination aggregate, becoming instead active, and 2) the
destination aggregate becomes the only active aggregate, then this
aggregate is not however set as in service. QFQ+ remains then in a
non-work-conserving state until a new invocation of qfq_enqueue()
recovers the situation.
This fix solves the problem by moving the logic for setting an
aggregate as in service directly into the function qfq_activate_agg().
Hence, from whatever point qfq_activate_aggregate() is invoked, QFQ+
remains work conserving. Since the more-complex logic of this new
version of activate_aggregate() is not necessary, in qfq_dequeue(), to
reschedule an aggregate that finishes its budget, then the aggregate
is now rescheduled by invoking directly the functions needed.

Between two invocations of make_eligible, the system virtual time may
happen to grow enough that, in its binary representation, a bit with
higher order than 31 flips. This happens especially with
TSO/GSO. Before this fix, the mask used in make_eligible was computed
as (1UL<<index_of_last_flipped_bit)-1, whose value is well defined on
a 64-bit architecture, because index_of_flipped_bit <= 63, but is in
general undefined on a 32-bit architecture if index_of_flipped_bit > 31.
The fix just replaces 1UL with 1ULL.

QFQ+ schedules the active aggregates in a group using a bucket list
(one list per group). The bucket in which each aggregate is inserted
depends on the aggregate's timestamps, and the number
of buckets in a group is enough to accomodate the possible (range of)
values of the timestamps of all the aggregates in the group. For this
property to hold, timestamps must however be computed correctly. One
necessary condition for computing timestamps correctly is that the
number of bits dequeued for each aggregate, while the aggregate is in
service, does not exceed the maximum budget budgetmax assigned to the
aggregate.
For each aggregate, budgetmax is proportional to the number of classes
in the aggregate. If the number of classes of the aggregate is
decreased through qfq_change_class(), then budgetmax is decreased
automatically as well. Problems may occur if the aggregate is in
service when budgetmax is decreased, because the current remaining
budget of the aggregate and/or the service already received by the
aggregate may happen to be larger than the new value of budgetmax. In
this case, when the aggregate is eventually deselected and its
timestamps are updated, the aggregate may happen to have received an
amount of service larger than budgetmax. This may cause the aggregate
to be assigned a higher virtual finish time than the maximum
acceptable value for the last bucket in the bucket list of the group.
This fix introduces a cap that addresses this issue.

Without a memory and compiler barrier, the task state change
can migrate relative to the condition testing in a blocking loop.
However, the task state change must be visible across all cpus
prior to testing those conditions. Failing to do this can result
in the familiar 'lost wakeup' and this task will hang until killed.

Setting net.ipv6.conf.<interface>.accept_ra=2 causes the kernel
to accept RAs even when forwarding is enabled. However, enabling
forwarding purges all default routes on the system, breaking
connectivity until the next RA is received. Fix this by not
purging default routes on interfaces that have accept_ra=2.

This patch doesn't change how the code works because in the current
kernel gfp is always GFP_KERNEL. But gfp was obviously intended

I had a report recently of a user trying to use dropwatch to localise some frame
loss, and they were getting false positives. Turned out they were using a user
space SCTP stack that used raw sockets to grab frames. When we don't have a
registered protocol for a given packet, we record it as a drop, even if a raw
socket receieves the frame. We should only record the drop in the event a raw
socket doesnt exist to receive the frames

Avinash Patil fixes an incorrectly timed delay in mwifiex.
Bing Zhao prevents a crash in SD8688 caused by failing to properly
set a flag before issuing a command.
Felix Fietkau is the big here this time, providing a trio of minor
ath9k fixes and correcting the advertised interface combinations for
rt2x00 when mesh support is disabled.
Finally, Hauke Mehrtens gives us a patch that correctlin initializes
a spin lock in the bcma code.

The sendmsg() syscall handler for PPPoL2TP doesn't decrease the socket
reference counter after successful transmissions. Any successful
sendmsg() call from userspace will then increase the reference counter
forever, thus preventing the kernel's session and tunnel data from
being freed later on.
The problem only happens when writing directly on L2TP sockets.
PPP sockets attached to L2TP are unaffected as the PPP subsystem
uses pppol2tp_xmit() which symmetrically increase/decrease reference
counters.
This patch adds the missing call to sock_put() before returning from
pppol2tp_sendmsg().

The VHT MCSes we advertise to the AP were supposed to
be restricted to the AP, but due to a bug in the logic
mac80211 will advertise rates to the AP that aren't
even supported by the local device. To fix this skip
any adjustment if the NSS isn't supported at all.

Given a device with many channels capabilities the wiphy
information can still overflow even though its size in
3.9 was reduced to 3.8 levels. For new userspace and
kernel 3.10 we're going to implement a new "split dump"
protocol that can use multiple messages per wiphy.
For now though, add a workaround to be able to send more
information to userspace. Since generic netlink doesn't
have a way to set the minimum dump size globally, and we
wouldn't really want to set it globally anyway, increase
the size only when needed, as described in the comments.
As userspace might not be prepared for large buffers, we
can only use 4k.
Also increase the size for the get_wiphy command.

"Miscellaneous bugfixes, plus:
- An overhaul of the DRC cache by Jeff Layton. The main effect is
just to make it larger. This decreases the chances of intermittent
errors especially in the UDP case. But we'll need to watch for any
reports of performance regressions.
- Containerized nfsd: with some limitations, we now support
per-container nfs-service, thanks to extensive work from Stanislav
Kinsbursky over the last year."
Some notes about conflicts, since there were *two* non-data semantic
conflicts here:
- idr_remove_all() had been added by a memory leak fix, but has since
become deprecated since idr_destroy() does it for us now.
- xs_local_connect() had been added by this branch to make AF_LOCAL
connections be synchronous, but in the meantime Trond had changed the
calling convention in order to avoid a RCU dereference.
There were a couple of more obvious actual source-level conflicts due to
the hlist traversal changes and one just due to code changes next to
each other, but those were trivial.

the RBD code, layout groundwork for understanding the new formats and
doing layering. Most of the infrastructure is now in place for the
final bits that will come with the next window.

some non-ideal CRUSH behavior, and a set of patches from me updates
the client to speak a newer version of the protocol and implement an

In sctp_ulpq_tail_data(), use return values 0,1 to indicate whether
a complete event (with MSG_EOR set) was delivered. A return value
of -ENOMEM continues to indicate an out-of-memory condition was
encountered.
In sctp_ulpq_retrieve_partial() and sctp_ulpq_retrieve_first(),
correct message reassembly logic for SCTP partial delivery.
Change logic to ensure that as much data as possible is sent
with the initial partial delivery and that following partial
deliveries contain all available data.
In sctp_ulpq_partial_delivery(), attempt partial delivery only
if the data on the head of the reassembly queue is at or before
the cumulative TSN ACK point.
In sctp_ulpq_renege(), use the modified return values from
sctp_ulpq_tail_data() to choose whether to attempt partial
delivery or to attempt to drain the reassembly queue as a
means to reduce memory pressure. Remove call to
sctp_tsnmap_mark(), as this is handled correctly in call to
sctp_ulpq_tail_data().

In sctp_tsnmap_mark(), correct off-by-one error when calculating
size value for sctp_tsnmap_grow().
In sctp_tsnmap_grow(), correct off-by-one error when copying
and resizing the tsnmap. If max_tsn_seen is in the LSB of the
word, this bit can be lost, causing the corresponding packet
to be transmitted again and to be entered as a duplicate into
the SCTP reassembly/ordering queues. Change parameter name
from "gap" (zero-based index) to "size" (one-based) to enhance
code readability.

It doesn't appear that anyone actually needs to connect asynchronously.
Also, using a workqueue for the connect means we lose the namespace
information from the original process. This is a problem since there's
no way to explicitly pass in a filesystem namespace for resolution of an
AF_LOCAL address.

I'm not sure why, but the hlist for each entry iterators were conceived
list_for_each_entry(pos, head, member)
The hlist ones were greedy and wanted an extra parameter:
hlist_for_each_entry(tpos, pos, head, member)
Why did they need an extra pos parameter? I'm not quite sure. Not only
they don't really need it, it also prevents the iterator from looking
exactly like the list iterator, which is unfortunate.
Besides the semantic patch, there was some manual work required:
- Fix up the actual hlist iterators in linux/list.h
- Fix up the declaration of other iterators based on the hlist ones.
- A very small amount of places were using the 'node' parameter, this
was modified to use 'obj->member' instead.
- Coccinelle didn't handle the hlist_for_each_entry_safe iterator
properly, so those had to be fixed up manually.

The legacy behavior adds the pgid seed and pool together as the input for
CRUSH. That is problematic because each pool's PGs end up mapping to the
same OSDs: 1.5 == 2.4 == 3.3 == ...
Instead, if the HASHPSPOOL flag is set, we has the ps and pool together and
feed that into CRUSH. This ensures that two adjacent pools will map to
an independent pseudorandom set of OSDs.
Advertise our support for this via a protocol feature flag.

Use the new version of the encoding for osd requests and replies. In the
process, update the way we are tracking request ops and reply lengths and
results in the struct ceph_osd_request. Update the rbd and fs/ceph users
appropriately.
The main changes are:
- we keep pointers into the request memory for fields we need to update
each time the request is sent out over the wire
- we keep information about the result in an array in the request struct
where the users can easily get at it.

Instead of using the old ceph_object_layout struct, update our internal
ceph_calc_object_layout method to use the ceph_pg type. This allows us to
pass the full 32-bit precision of the pgid.seed to the callers. It also
allows some callers to avoid reaching into the request structures for the
struct ceph_object_layout fields.

Support (and require) the PGID64, PGPOOL3, and OSDENC protocol features.
These have been present in ceph.git since v0.42, Feb 2012. Require these
features to simplify support; nobody is running older userspace.
Note that the new request and reply encoding is still not in place, so the new
code is not yet functional.

Some mlme work structs are not cancelled on disassociation
nor interface deletion, which leads to them running after
the memory has been freed
There is not a clean way to cancel these in the disassociation
logic because they must be canceled outside of the ifmgd->mtx
lock, so just cancel them in mgd_stop logic that tears down
the station.
This fixes the crashes we see in 3.7.9+. The crash stack
trace itself isn't so helpful, but this warning gives
more useful info:

When the driver does not want a monitor mode VIF, no channel context is
allocated for it. This causes ieee80211_recalc_idle to put the hardware
into idle mode if only a monitor mode is active, breaking injection.
Fix this by checking local->monitors in addition to active channel
contexts.

Commit 6c17b77b67 (mac80211: Fix tx queue
handling during scans) contains a bug that causes off-channel frames to
get queued when they should be handed down to the driver for transmit.
Prevent this from happening.

Pull user namespace and namespace infrastructure changes from Eric W Biederman:
"This set of changes starts with a few small enhnacements to the user
namespace. reboot support, allowing more arbitrary mappings, and
support for mounting devpts, ramfs, tmpfs, and mqueuefs as just the
user namespace root.
I do my best to document that if you care about limiting your
unprivileged users that when you have the user namespace support
enabled you will need to enable memory control groups.
There is a minor bug fix to prevent overflowing the stack if someone
creates way too many user namespaces.
The bulk of the changes are a continuation of the kuid/kgid push down
work through the filesystems. These changes make using uids and gids
typesafe which ensures that these filesystems are safe to use when
multiple user namespaces are in use. The filesystems converted for
3.9 are ceph, 9p, afs, ocfs2, gfs2, ncpfs, nfs, nfsd, and cifs. The
changes for these filesystems were a little more involved so I split
the changes into smaller hopefully obviously correct changes.
XFS is the only filesystem that remains. I was hoping I could get
that in this release so that user namespace support would be enabled
with an allyesconfig or an allmodconfig but it looks like the xfs
changes need another couple of days before it they are ready."

Unicast frame with unknown forwarding information always trigger
the path discovery assuming destination is always located inside the
MBSS. This patch allows the forwarding to look for mesh gate if path
discovery inside the MBSS has failed.

Just like the radar information, the TCP WoWLAN capability
data can increase the wiphy information and make it too
big. Remove the TCP WoWLAN information; no driver supports
it and new userspace tools will be required as well.

The wiphy information is getting very close to being too
much for a typical netlink dump message and adding the
radar attributes to channels and interface combinations
can push it over the limit, which means userspace gets no
information whatsoever. Therefore, remove these again for
now, no driver actually supports radar detection anyway
and a modified userspace is required as well.
We're working on a solution that will allow userspace to
request splitting the information across multiple netlink
messages, which will allow us to add this back.

The ieee80211_beacon_add_tim() function might be called
by drivers with BHs enabled, which causes a potential
deadlock if TX happens at the same time and attempts to
lock the tim_lock as well. Use spin_lock_bh to fix it.

This just converts a manually-implemented loop into a do..while loop
in con_work(). It also moves handling of EAGAIN inside the blocks
where it's already been determined an error code was returned.
Also update a few dout() calls near the affected code for
consistency.

This just rearranges the logic in con_work() a little bit so that a
flag is used to indicate a fault has occurred. This allows both the
fault and non-fault case to be handled the same way and avoids a
couple of nearly consecutive gotos.

An error occurring on a ceph connection is treated as a fault,
causing the connection to be reset. The initial part of this fault
handling has to be done while holding the connection mutex, but
it must then be dropped for the last part.
Separate the part of this fault handling that executes without the
lock into its own function, con_fault_finish(). Move the call to
this new function, as well as call that drops the connection mutex,
into ceph_fault(). Rename that function con_fault() to reflect that
it's only handling the connection part of the fault handling.
The motivation for this was a warning from sparse about the locking
being done here. Rearranging things this way keeps all the mutex
manipulation within ceph_fault(), and this stops sparse from
complaining.

Collect the code that tests for and implements a backoff delay for a
ceph connection into a new function, ceph_backoff().
Make the debug output messages in that part of the code report
things consistently by reporting a message in the socket closed
case, and by making the one for PREOPEN state report the connection
pointer like the rest.

aa0e51cdda, broke GRE_CSUM case.
GRE_CSUM needs checksum computed for inner packet. Therefore
csum-calculation can not be offloaded if tunnel device requires
GRE_CSUM. Following patch fixes it by computing inner packet checksum
for GRE_CSUM type, for all other type of GRE devices csum is offloaded.

GRE-GSO generates ip fragments with id 0,2,3,4... for every
GSO packet, which is not correct. Following patch fixes it
by setting ip-header id unique id of fragments are allowed.
As Eric Dumazet suggested it is optimized by using inner ip-header
whenever inner packet is ipv4.

Deadlock might be caused by allocating memory with GFP_KERNEL in
runtime_resume and runtime_suspend callback of network devices in iSCSI
situation, so mark network devices and its ancestor as 'memalloc_noio'
with the introduced pm_runtime_set_memalloc_noio().

Userland can send a netlink message requesting SOCK_DIAG_BY_FAMILY
with a family greater or equal then AF_MAX -- the array size of
sock_diag_handlers[]. The current code does not test for this
condition therefore is vulnerable to an out-of-bound access opening
doors for a privilege escalation.

Allocating a file structure in function get_empty_filp() might fail because
of several reasons:
- not enough memory for file structures
- operation is not allowed
- user is over its limit
Currently the function returns NULL in all cases and we loose the exact
reason of the error. All callers of get_empty_filp() assume that the function
can fail with ENFILE only.
Return error through pointer. Change all callers to preserve this error code.

If the socket is full, we're better off just waiting until it empties,
or until the connection is broken. The reason why we generally don't
want to time out is that the call to xprt->ops->release_xprt() will
trigger a connection reset, which isn't helpful...
Let's make an exception for soft RPC calls, since they have to provide
timeout guarantees.

In fast open the sender unncessarily reduces the space available
for data in SYN by 12 bytes. This is because in the sender
incorrectly reserves space for TS option twice in tcp_send_syn_data():
tcp_mtu_to_mss() already accounts for TS option space. But it further
reserves MAX_TCP_OPTION_SPACE when computing the payload space.

Smatch found a locking bug in netif_set_xps_queue in which we were not
releasing the lock in the case of an allocation failure.
This change corrects that so that we release the xps_map_mutex before
returning -ENOMEM in the case of an allocation failure.

Now we handle icmp errors in each transport protocol's err_handler,
for icmp protocols, that is ping_err. Since this handler only care
of those icmp errors triggered by echo request, errors triggered
by echo reply(which sent by kernel) are sliently ignored.
So wrap ping_err() with icmp_err() to deal with those icmp errors.

It looks like its possible to open thousands of TCP IPv6
sessions on a server, all landing in a single slot of TCP hash
table. Incoming packets have to lookup sockets in a very
long list.
We should hash all bits from foreign IPv6 addresses, using
a salt and hash mix, not a simple XOR.
inet6_ehashfn() can also separately use the ports, instead
of xoring them.

able to check return values.

This patch enhances the IB core support for Memory Windows (MWs).
MWs allow an application to have better/flexible control over remote
access to memory.
Two types of MWs are supported, with the second type having two flavors:
Type 1 - associated with PD only
Type 2A - associated with QPN only
Type 2B - associated with PD and QPN
Applications can allocate a MW once, and then repeatedly bind the MW
to different ranges in MRs that are associated to the same PD. Type 1
windows are bound through a verb, while type 2 windows are bound by
posting a work request.
The 32-bit memory key is composed of a 24-bit index and an 8-bit
key. The key is changed with each bind, thus allowing more control
over the peer's use of the memory key.
The changes introduced are the following:
* add memory window type enum and a corresponding parameter to ib_alloc_mw.
* type 2 memory window bind work request support.
* create a struct that contains the common part of the bind verb struct
ibv_mw_bind and the bind work request into a single struct.
* add the ib_inc_rkey helper function to advance the tag part of an rkey.
Consumer interface details:
* new device capability flags IB_DEVICE_MEM_WINDOW_TYPE_2A and
IB_DEVICE_MEM_WINDOW_TYPE_2B are added to indicate device support
for these features.
Devices can set either IB_DEVICE_MEM_WINDOW_TYPE_2A or
IB_DEVICE_MEM_WINDOW_TYPE_2B if it supports type 2A or type 2B
memory windows. It can set neither to indicate it doesn't support
type 2 windows at all.
* modify existing provides and consumers code to the new param of
ib_alloc_mw and the ib_mw_bind_info structure

When an entry flagged with "nomatch" was tested by ipset, it
returned the error message "Kernel error received:
Directory not empty" instead of "<element> is NOT in set <setname>"

Because we do not have any locks for dst_entry, we cannot change
essential structure in the entry; e.g., we cannot change reference
to other entity.
To fix this issue, split 'from' and 'expires' field in dst_entry
out of union. Once it is 'from' is assigned in the constructor,
keep the reference until the very last stage of the life time of
the object.
Of course, it is unsafe to change 'from', so make rt6_set_from simple
just for fresh entries.

Along with that is a fix for memory corruption in rtlwifi, an
orinoco_usb fix to avoid allocating a DMA buffer on the stack, an a
hostap fix to return -ENOMEM instead of -1 after a memory allocation
failure. The remaining bits implement 802.11ac support for the mwifiex
driver -- I think that is still worth getting into 3.9.

The functions used for working with ceph page vectors are defined
with char pointers, but they're really intended to operate on
untyped data. Change the types of these function parameters
to (void *) to reflect this.
(Note that the functions now assume void pointer arithmetic works
like arithmetic on char pointers.)

Add support for CEPH_OSD_OP_STAT operations in the osd client
and in rbd.
This operation sends no data to the osd; everything required is
encoded in identity of the target object.
The result will be ENOENT if the object doesn't exist. If it does
exist and no other error occurs the server returns the size and last
modification time of the target object as output data (in little
endian format). The size is a 64 bit unsigned and the time is
ceph_timespec structure (two unsigned 32-bit integers, representing
a seconds and nanoseconds value).

Simplify the way the data length recorded in a message header is
calculated in ceph_osdc_build_request().

Pull in 'net' to take in the bug fixes that didn't make it into
3.8-final.
Also, deal with the semantic conflict of the change made to
net/ipv6/xfrm6_policy.c A missing rt6->n neighbour release
was added to 'net', but in 'net-next' we no longer cache the
neighbour entries in the ipv6 routes so that change is not
appropriate there.

Connection tracking helpers have to drop packets under exceptional
situations. Currently, the user gets the following logging message
in case that happens:
nf_ct_%s: dropping packet ...
However, depending on the helper, there are different reasons why a
packet can be dropped.
This patch modifies the existing code to provide more specific
error message in the scope of each helper to help users to debug
the reason why the packet has been dropped, ie:
nf_ct_%s: dropping packet: reason ...

Neighbor is cloned in xfrm6_fill_dst but seems to never be released.
Neighbor entry should be released when XFRM6 dst entry is destroyed
in xfrm6_dst_destroy, otherwise references may be kept forever on
the device pointed by the neighbor entry.
I may not have understood all the subtleties of XFRM & dst so I would
be happy to receive comments on this patch.

proc_net_remove is only used to remove proc entries
that under /proc/net,it's not a general function for
removing proc entries of netns. if we want to remove
some proc entries which under /proc/net/stat/, we still
need to call remove_proc_entry.
this patch use remove_proc_entry to replace proc_net_remove.
we can remove proc_net_remove after this patch.

Right now, some modules such as bonding use proc_create
to create proc entries under /proc/net/, and other modules
such as ipv4 use proc_net_fops_create.
It looks a little chaos.this patch changes all of
proc_net_fops_create to proc_create. we can remove
proc_net_fops_create after this patch.

In osd_req_encode_op() there are a few cases that handle osd
opcodes that are never used in the kernel. The presence of
this code gives the impression it's correct (which really can't
be assumed), and may impose some unnecessary restrictions on
some upcoming refactoring of this code.
So delete this effectively dead code, and report uses of the
previously handled cases as unsupported.

If osd_req_encode_op() is given any opcode it doesn't recognize
it reports an error.
This patch fleshes out that routine to distinguish between
well-defined but unsupported values and values that are simply
bogus.

There are no actual users of ceph_osdc_wait_event(). This would
have been one-shot events, but we no longer support those so just
get rid of this function.
Since this leaves nothing else that waits for the completion of an
event, we can get rid of the completion in a struct ceph_osd_event.

There is only one caller of ceph_osdc_create_event(), and it
provides 0 as its "one_shot" argument. Get rid of that argument and
just use 0 in its place.
Replace the code in handle_watch_notify() that executes if one_shot
is nonzero in the event with a BUG_ON() call.
While modifying "osd_client.c", give handle_watch_notify() static
scope.

There is no caller of ceph_calc_raw_layout() outside of libceph, so
there's no need to export from the module.
Furthermore, there is only one caller, in calc_layout(), and it
is not much more than a simple wrapper for that function.
So get rid of ceph_calc_raw_layout() and embed it instead within
calc_layout().
While touching "osd_client.c", get rid of the unnecessary forward
declaration of __send_request().

Two of the three callers of the osd client's send_queued() function
already hold the osd client mutex and drop it before the call.
Change send_queued() so it assumes the caller holds the mutex, and
update all callers accordingly. Rename it __send_queued() to match
the convention used elsewhere in the file with respect to the lock.

The "num_reply" parameter to ceph_osdc_new_request() is never
used inside that function, so get rid of it.
Note that ceph_sync_write() passes 2 for that argument, while all
other callers pass 1. It doesn't matter, but perhaps someone should
verify this doesn't indicate a problem.

Larry noticed (and bisected) that commit df881293c6
"cfg80211: Pass TDLS peer's QoS/HT/VHT information during set_station"
broke secure connections. This is is the case only for drivers that
don't support TDLS, where any kind of change, even just the change of
authorized flag that is required for normal operation, was rejected
now. To fix this, remove the checks. I have some patches that will add
proper verification for all the different cases later.

Convert mesh peering events into strings and make the
debug output a little easier to read. Also stop printing
the llid and plid since these don't change across peering
states and are random numbers anyway so they just amount
to noise.

ieee80211_ht_cap_ie_to_sta_ht_cap() will clean up the
ht_supported flag and station bandwidth field for us
if the peer beacon doesn't have an HT capability element
(is operating as non-HT).
Also, we don't really need a special station ch_width
member to track the station operating mode any more so use
sta.bandwidth instead.

If an interface is set down while authenticating or
associating, there's a station entry that will be
removed by the flushing in do_stop() and that will
cause a warning. It's otherwise harmless, but avoid
the warning by calling ieee80211_mgd_stop() first.

Rewrite server shutdown to remove the assumption that there are no
longer any threads running (no longer true, for example, when shutting
down the service in one network namespace while it's still running in
others).
Do that by doing what we'd do in normal circumstances: just CLOSE each
socket, then enqueue it.
Since there may not be threads to handle the resulting queued xprts,
also run a simplified version of the svc_recv() loop run by a server to
clean up any closed xprts afterwards.

svc_age_temp_xprts expires xprts in a two-step process: first it takes
the sv_lock and moves the xprts to expire off their server-wide list
(sv_tempsocks or sv_permsocks) to a local list. Then it drops the
sv_lock and enqueues and puts each one.
I see no reason for this: svc_xprt_enqueue() will take sp_lock, but the
sv_lock and sp_lock are not otherwise nested anywhere (and documentation
at the top of this file claims it's correct to nest these with sp_lock
inside.)

Change overload control to be purely byte-based, using
sk->sk_rmem_alloc as byte counter, and compare it to a calculated
upper limit for the socket receive queue.
For all connection messages, irrespective of message importance,
the overload limit is set to a constant value (i.e, 67MB). This
limit should normally never be reached because of the lower
limit used by the flow control algorithm, and is there only
as a last resort in case a faulty peer doesn't respect the send
window limit.
For datagram messages, message importance is taken into account
when calculating the overload limit. The calculation is based
on sk->sk_rcvbuf, and is hence configurable via the socket option
SO_RCVBUF.

The tipc function discard_rx_queue() is just a duplicated
implementation of __skb_queue_purge(). Remove the former
and directly invoke __skb_queue_purge().
In doing so, the underscores convey to the code reader, more
information about the current locking state that is assumed.

After commit 3c294cb3 "tipc: remove the bearer congestion mechanism",
we try to grab the broadcast bearer lock when sending multicast
messages over the broadcast link. This will cause an oops because
the lock is never initialized. This is an old bug, but the lock
was never actually used before commit 3c294cb3, so that why it was
not visible until now. The oops will look something like:

Following patch adds GRE protocol offload handler so that
skb_gso_segment() can segment GRE packets.
SKB GSO CB is added to keep track of total header length so that
skb_segment can push entire header. e.g. in case of GRE, skb_segment
need to push inner and outer headers to every segment.
New NETIF_F_GRE_GSO feature is added for devices which support HW
GRE TSO offload. Currently none of devices support it therefore GRE GSO
always fall backs to software GSO.

Since mesh powersaving was added, pending bcast/mcast frames may go out the
CAB queue now. Unfortunately, the queue was only set up for AP mode, so we
would try to tx on the IEEE80211_INVAL_HW_QUEUE. Allow cab_queue for mesh
interfaces as well.

The reason to move cache_request() callback call from
sunrpc_cache_pipe_upcall() to cache_read() is that this garantees, that cache
access will be done userspace process context (only userspace process have
proper root context).
This is required for NFSd support in container: svc_export_request() (which is
cache_request callback) calls d_path(), which, in turn, traverse dentry up to
current->fs->root. Kernel threads always have global root, while container
have be in "root jail" - i.e. have it's own nested root.

For most of SUNRPC caches (except NFS DNS cache) cache_detail->cache_upcall is
redundant since all that it's implementations are doing is calling
sunrpc_cache_pipe_upcall() with proper function address argument.
Cache request function address is now stored on cache_detail structure and
thus all the code can be simplified.
Now, for those cache details, which doesn't have cache_upcall callback (the
only one, which still has is nfs_dns_resolve_template)
sunrpc_cache_pipe_upcall will be called instead.

questionable loop and locking constructs, etc.
The bigger change is moving the "sdata" argument
to the first argument of all functions, like all

Even when connecting to an AP that doesn't support VHT,
and even when the local device doesn't support it either,
the downgrade message gets printed. Suppress the message
if HT and/or VHT is disabled.

Adding the flag to mac80211 already without testing was
clearly a mistake, one that we now pay for by having to
reserve bit 13 forever. The problem is cfg80211 doesn't
allow capability/rate changes for station entries that
were added unassociated, so the station entries cannot
be set up properly when marked associated.
Change the NL80211_FEATURE_FULL_AP_CLIENT_STATE value
to make it clear to userspace implementations that all
current kernels don't actually support it, even though
the previous bit is set, and of course also remove the
flag from mac80211 until we test and fix the issues.

The information of the peer's capabilities is required for the driver
to perform TDLS Peer UAPSD operations. This information of the peer is
passed by the supplicant using NL80211_CMD_SET_STATION command. This
commit enhances the function nl80211_set_station to pass this
information of the peer to the driver in case this command is used
with the TDLS peer STA.
In addition, make the HT/VHT capability configuration handled more
consistently for other STA cases (reject both instead of just HT).

The information of the peer's capabilities and extended capabilities are
required for the driver to perform TDLS Peer UAPSD operations and off
channel operations. This information of the peer is passed from user space
using NL80211_CMD_SET_STATION command. This commit enhances
the function nl80211_set_station to pass the capability information of
the peer to the driver.
Similarly, there may be need for capability information for other modes,
so allow this to be provided with both add_station and change_station.

In many cases, userspace may need to know which of the
802.11 extended capabilities ("Extended Capabilities
element") are implemented in the driver or device, to
include them e.g. in beacons, assoc request/response
or other frames. Add a new nl80211 attribute to hold
the extended capabilities bitmap for this.

Instead of modifying the HT SMPS capability field
for stations, track the SMPS mode explicitly in a
new field in the station struct and use it in the
drivers that care about it. This simplifies the
code using it.

Previously, the entire mesh beacon would be generated each
time the beacon timer fired. Instead generate a beacon
head and tail (so the TIM can easily be inserted when mesh
power save is on) when starting a mesh or the MBSS
parameters change.
Also add a mutex for protecting beacon updates and
preventing leaks.

When drivers or regulatory have limitations on
40, 80 or 160 MHz channels, advertise these to
userspace via nl80211. Also add a new feature
flag to let userspace know this is supported.

Some drivers might support 80 or 160 MHz only on some
channels for whatever reason, so allow them to disable
these channel widths. Also maintain the new flags when
regulatory bandwidth limitations would disable these
wide channels.

A while ago, I made the mac80211 station code never change
the channel type after association. This solved a number of
issues but is ultimately wrong, we should react if the AP
changes the HT operation IE and switches bandwidth. One of
the issues is that we associate as HT40 capable, but if the
AP ever switches to 40 MHz we won't be able to receive such
frames because we never set our channel to 40 MHz.
This addresses this and VHT operation changes. If there's a
change that is incompatible with our setup, e.g. if the AP
decides to change the channel entirely (and for some reason
we still hear the beacon) we'll just disconnect.

For HT and VHT the current bandwidth can change,
add the function ieee80211_vif_change_bandwidth()
to take care of this. It returns a failure if the
new bandwidth isn't compatible with the existing
channel context, the caller has to handle that.
When it happens, also inform the driver that the
bandwidth changed for this virtual interface (no
drivers would actually care today though.)
Changing to/from HT/VHT isn't allowed though.

Having HT/VHT operation IEs but not capability IEs
leads to a strange situation where we configure the
channel to an HT or VHT bandwidth and then can't
actually use it. Prevent this by checking that the
HT and VHT capability IEs are present as well as
the operation IEs; if not, disable HT and/or VHT.

In beacons and association response frames an AP may include an
operating mode notification element to advertise changes in the
number of spatial streams it can receive. Handle this using the
existing function that handles the action frame, but only handle
NSS changes, not bandwidth changes which aren't allowed here.

In case of connection, the station data is initialised from
the beacon/probe response first and then updated from the
association response. If the latter is different we update
the rate control algorithm and driver. Instead of doing it
this way, set the station data properly with data from the
association response before initializing rate control.
Also simplify the code by passing the station pointer.

With VHT, a station can change the number of spatial
streams it can receive on the fly, not unlike spatial
multiplexing in HT. Prepare for that by tracking the
maximum number of spatial streams it can receive when
the connection is established.

For VHT, many more bandwidth changes are possible. As a first
step, stop toggling the IEEE80211_HT_CAP_SUP_WIDTH_20_40 flag
in the HT capabilities and instead introduce a bandwidth field
indicating the currently usable bandwidth to transmit to the
station. Of course, make all drivers use it.
To achieve this, make ieee80211_ht_cap_ie_to_sta_ht_cap() get
the station as an argument, rather than the new capabilities,
so it can set up the new bandwidth field.
If the station is a VHT station and VHT bandwidth is in use,
also set the bandwidth accordingly.
Doing this allows us to get rid of the supports_40mhz flag as
the HT capabilities now reflect the true capability instead of
the current setting.
While at it, also fix ieee80211_ht_cap_ie_to_sta_ht_cap() to not
ignore HT cap overrides when MCS TX isn't supported (not that it
really happens...)

Since no driver calls the TKIP functions from interrupt
context, there's no need to use spin_lock_irqsave().
Just use spin_lock_bh() (and spin_lock() in the TX path
where we're in a BH or they're already disabled.)

In some cases when disconnecting after (or during?) CSA
the queues might not recover, and then the only way to
recover is reloading the module.
Fix this by always unblocking the queue CSA reason when
disconnecting.

Since the idle decision rework, mac80211 started calling
bss_info_changed() for the driver's monitor interface,
which causes a crash for iwlwifi, but drivers generally
don't expect this to happen. Therefore, avoid it.
While at it, also prevent calling it in such cases and
only print a warning. For the P2P Device interface the
idle will no longer be called (no channel context), so
also prevent that and warn on it.

In my commit 1672c0e319
("mac80211: start auth/assoc timeout on frame status")
I broke auth/assoc timeout handling: in case we wait
for the TX status, it now leaves the timeout field set
to 0, which is a valid time and can compare as being
before now ("jiffies"). Thus, if the work struct runs
for some other reason, the auth/assoc is treated as
having timed out.
Fix this by introducing a separate "timeout_started"
variable that tracks whether the timeout has started
and is checked before timing out.
Additionally, for proper TX status handling the change
requires that the skb->dev pointer is set up for all
the frames, so set it up for all frames in mac80211.

A few mesh utility functions will call
ieee80211_bss_info_change_notify(), and then the caller
might notify the driver of the same change again. Avoid
this redundancy by propagating the BSS changes and
generally calling bss_info_change_notify() once per
change.

When sending a broadcast while at least on of the connected stations is
sleeping, it gets queued and send after a DTIM beacon is sent.
If the packet was to be sent on a vlan interface, the vif used for dequeing
from the per-bss queue does not hold the per-vlan sdata. The correct sdata is
required to use the correct per-vlan broadcast/multicast key.
This patch fixes this by restoring the per-vlan sdata using the skb->dev entry.

Add command to trigger radar detection in the driver/FW.
Once radar detection is started it should continuously
monitor for radars as long as the channel active.
If radar is detected usermode notified with 'radar
detected' event.
Scanning and remain on channel functionality must be disabled
while doing radar detection/scanning, and vice versa.

Add new NL80211_CMD_RADAR_DETECT, which starts the Channel
Availability Check (CAC). This command will also notify the
usermode about events (CAC finished, CAC aborted, radar
detected, NOP finished).
Once radar detection has started it should continuously
monitor for radars as long as the channel is active.
This patch enables DFS for AP mode in nl80211/cfg80211.

Even for non-pfmalloc SKBs, __netif_receive_skb() will do a
tsk_restore_flags() on current unconditionally.
Make __netif_receive_skb() a shim around the existing code, renamed to
__netif_receive_skb_core(). Let __netif_receive_skb() wrap the
__netif_receive_skb_core() call with the task flag modifications, if
necessary.

The iucv base layer is initialized during the registration of the
first iucv handler. If no handler is registered and the
iucv_reboot_event() notifier is called, a missing check can cause
a kernel panic in iucv_block_cpu(). To solve this issue, check the
IRQ masks invoke iucv_block_cpu() for enabled CPUs only.

There is a check in the completion path for osd requests that
ensures the number of pages allocated is enough to hold the amount
of incoming data expected.
For bio requests coming from rbd the "number of pages" is not really
meaningful (although total length would be). So stop requiring that
nr_pages be supplied for bio requests. This is done by checking
whether the pages pointer is null before checking the value of
nr_pages.
Note that this value is passed on to the messenger, but there it's
only used for debugging--it's never used for validation.
While here, change another spot that used r_pages in a debug message
inappropriately, and also invalidate the r_con_filling_msg pointer
after dropping a reference to it.

Currently, if the OSD client finds an osd request has had a bio list
attached to it, it drops a reference to it (or rather, to the first
entry on that list) when the request is released.
The code that added that reference (i.e., the rbd client) is
therefore required to take an extra reference to that first bio
structure.
The osd client doesn't really do anything with the bio pointer other
than transfer it from the osd request structure to outgoing (for
writes) and ingoing (for reads) messages. So it really isn't the
right place to be taking or dropping references.
Furthermore, the rbd client already holds references to all bio
structures it passes to the osd client, and holds them until the
request is completed. So there's no need for this extra reference
whatsoever.
So remove the bio_put() call in ceph_osdc_release_request(), as
well as its matching bio_get() call in rbd_osd_req_create().
This change could lead to a crash if old libceph.ko was used with
new rbd.ko. Add a compatibility check at rbd initialization time to
avoid this possibilty.

An upcoming change implements semantic change that could lead to
a crash if an old version of the libceph kernel module is used with
a new version of the rbd kernel module.
In order to preclude that possibility, this adds a compatibilty
check interface. If this interface doesn't exist, the modules are
obviously not compatible. But if it does exist, this provides a way
of letting the caller know whether it will operate properly with
this libceph module.
Perhaps confusingly, it returns false right now. The semantic
change mentioned above will make it return true.

The ceph messenger has a few spots that are only used when
bio messages are supported, and that's only when CONFIG_BLOCK
is defined. This surrounds a couple of spots with #ifdef's
that would cause a problem if CONFIG_BLOCK were not present
in the kernel configuration.

Add an ability to configure a separate "untagged" egress
policy to the VLAN information of the bridge. This superseeds PVID
policy and makes PVID ingress-only. The policy is configured with a
new flag and is represented as a port bitmap per vlan. Egress frames
with a VLAN id in "untagged" policy bitmap would egress
the port without VLAN header.

When VLAN is added to the port, a local fdb entry for that port
(the entry with the mac address of the port) is added for that
VLAN. This way we can correctly determine if the traffic
is for the bridge itself. If the address of the port changes,
we try to change all the local fdb entries we have for that port.

When a user adds bridge neighbors, allow him to specify VLAN id.
If the VLAN id is not specified, the neighbor will be added
for VLANs currently in the ports filter list. If no VLANs are
configured on the port, we use vlan 0 and only add 1 entry.

This patch adds vlan to unicast fdb entries that are created for
learned addresses (not the manually configured ones). It adds
vlan id into the hash mix and uses vlan as an addditional parameter
for an entry match.

A user may designate a certain vlan as PVID. This means that
any ingress frame that does not contain a vlan tag is assigned to
this vlan and any forwarding decisions are made with this vlan in mind.
