Commit 6fcf0c72e4, a fix to get_tree_bdev() put a missing blkdev_put() in
the wrong place, before a warnf() that displays the bdev under
consideration rather after it.
This results in a silent lockup in printk("%pg") called via warnf() from
get_tree_bdev() under some circumstances when there's a race with the
blockdev being frozen. This can be caused by xfstests/tests/generic/085 in
combination with Lukas Czerner's ext4 mount API conversion patchset. It
looks like it ought to occur with other users of get_tree_bdev() such as
XFS, but apparently doesn't.
Fix this by switching the order of the lines.

[Why]
Fixes the following scenario:
- Flip has been prepared sometime during the frame, update pending
- Cursor update happens right when VUPDATE would happen
- OPTC lock acquired, VUPDATE is blocked until next frame
- Flip is delayed potentially infinitely
With the igt@kms_cursor_legacy cursor-vs-flip-legacy test we can
observe nearly *13* frames of delay for some flips on Navi.
[How]
Apply the Raven workaround generically. When close enough to VUPDATE
block cursor updates from occurring from the dc_stream_set_cursor_*
helpers.
This could perhaps be a little smarter by checking if there were
pending updates or flips earlier in the frame on the HUBP side before
applying the delay, but this should be fine for now.
This fixes the kms_cursor_legacy test.

Currently, if the client sends BIND_CONN_TO_SESSION with
NFS4_CDFC4_FORE_OR_BOTH but only gets NFS4_CDFS4_FORE back it ignores
that it wasn't able to enable a backchannel.
To make sure, the client sends BIND_CONN_TO_SESSION as the first
operation on the connections (ie., no other session compounds haven't
been sent before), and if the client's request to bind the backchannel
is not satisfied, then reset the connection and retry.

The rpciod workqueue is on the write-out path for freeing dirty memory,
so it is important that it never block waiting for memory to be
allocated - this can lead to a deadlock.
rpc_execute() - which is often called by an rpciod work item - calls
rcp_task_release_client() which can lead to rpc_free_client().
rpc_free_client() makes two calls which could potentially block wating
for memory allocation.
rpc_clnt_debugfs_unregister() calls into debugfs and will block while
any of the debugfs files are being accessed. In particular it can block
while any of the 'open' methods are being called and all of these use
malloc for one thing or another. So this can deadlock if the memory
allocation waits for NFS to complete some writes via rpciod.
rpc_clnt_remove_pipedir() can take the inode_lock() and while it isn't
obvious that memory allocations can happen while the lock it held, it is
safer to assume they might and to not let rpciod call
rpc_clnt_remove_pipedir().
So this patch moves these two calls (together with the final kfree() and
rpciod_down()) into a work-item to be run from the system work-queue.
rpciod can continue its important work, and the final stages of the free
can happen whenever they happen.
I have seen this deadlock on a 4.12 based kernel where debugfs used
synchronize_srcu() when removing objects. synchronize_srcu() requires a
workqueue and there were no free workther threads and none could be
allocated. While debugsfs no longer uses SRCU, I believe the deadlock
is still possible.

The logic modules on the Integrator/AP (Application Platform)
are logic tiles with (typically) one or a few peripheral
devices. They are most commonly used for FPGA prototyping.
Using the device tree node for logic tiles, we probe them
in order and check if the special system controller register
confirm their presence before populating the node for a tile.
This supercedes the code in arch/arm/mach-integrator/lm.[c|h]
and makes it possible to populate the tiles using the device

s390/mm: fix page table upgrade vs 2ndary address mode accesses
A race exists between build_pcms() and build_controls() phases of codec
setup. Build_pcms() sets up notifier for jack events. If a monitor event
is received before build_controls() is run, the initial jack state is
lost and never reported via mixer controls.
The problem can be hit at least with SOF as the controller driver. SOF
calls snd_hda_codec_build_controls() in its workqueue-based probe and
this can be delayed enough to hit the race condition.
Fix the issue by invalidating the per-pin ELD information when
build_controls() is called. The existing call to hdmi_present_sense()
will update the ELD contents. This ensures initial monitor state is
correctly reflected via mixer controls.

drm_dp_mst_wait_tx_reply() returns > 1 if time elapsed in
wait_event_timeout() before check_txmsg_state(mgr, txmsg) evaluated to
true. However, we make the mistake of returning this time from
drm_dp_send_dpcd_write() on success instead of returning the number of
bytes written - causing spontaneous failures during link probing:
[drm:drm_dp_send_link_address [drm_kms_helper]] *ERROR* GUID check on

Yikes! So, fix this by returning the number of bytes written on success

and may be freed as we inspect it. Hence, we require the obj->vma.lock
to protect the list as we iterate.
An example of forgetting to hold the obj->vma.lock is

Now to take the spinlock during the list iteration, we need to break it
down into two phases. In the first phase under the lock, we cannot sleep
and so must defer the actual work to a second list, protected by the
ggtt->mutex.
We also need to hold the spinlock during creation of a new vma to
serialise with updates of the tiling on the object.

igt_ppgtt_pin_update() invokes i915_gem_context_get_vm_rcu(), which
returns a reference of the i915_address_space object to "vm" with
increased refcount.
When igt_ppgtt_pin_update() returns, "vm" becomes invalid, so the
refcount should be decreased to keep refcount balanced.
The reference counting issue happens in two exception handling paths of
igt_ppgtt_pin_update(). When i915_gem_object_create_internal() returns
IS_ERR, the refcnt increased by i915_gem_context_get_vm_rcu() is not
decreased, causing a refcnt leak.
Fix this issue by jumping to "out_vm" label when
i915_gem_object_create_internal() returns IS_ERR.

Clay reports that OP_STATX fails for a test case with a valid fd
and empty path:
-- Test 0: statx:fd 3: SUCCEED, file mode 100755
-- Test 1: statx:path ./uring_statx: SUCCEED, file mode 100755
-- Test 2: io_uring_statx:fd 3: FAIL, errno 9: Bad file descriptor
-- Test 3: io_uring_statx:path ./uring_statx: SUCCEED, file mode 100755
This is due to statx not grabbing the process file table, hence we can't
lookup the fd in async context. If the fd is valid, ensure that we grab
the file table so we can grab the file from async context.

Under some circumstances, i.e. when test is still running and about to
time out and user runs, for example,
grep -H . /sys/module/dmatest/parameters/*
the iterations parameter is not respected and test is going on and on until
user gives
echo 0 > /sys/module/dmatest/parameters/run
This is not what expected.
The history of this bug is interesting. I though that the commit
2d88ce76eb ("dmatest: add a 'wait' parameter")
is a culprit, but looking closer to the code I think it simple revealed the
broken logic from the day one, i.e. in the commit
0a2ff57d6f ("dmaengine: dmatest: add a maximum number of test iterations")
which adds iterations parameter.
So, to the point, the conditional of checking the thread to be stopped being
first part of conjunction logic prevents to check iterations. Thus, we have to
always check both conditions to be able to stop after given iterations.
Since it wasn't visible before second commit appeared, I add a respective

DMA synchronization hook checks whether interrupt is raised by testing
corresponding bit in a hardware status register, and thus, clock should
be enabled in this case, otherwise CPU may hang if synchronization is
invoked while Runtime PM is in suspended state. This patch resumes the RPM
during of the DMA synchronization process in order to avoid potential
problems. It is a minor clean up of a previous commit, no real problem is
fixed by this patch because currently RPM is always in a resumed state
while DMA is synchronized, although this may change in the future.

When the channel register code was changed to allow hotplug operations,
dynamic indexing wasn't taken into account. When channels are randomly
plugged and unplugged out of order, the serial indexing breaks. Convert
channel indexing to using IDA tracking in order to allow dynamic
assignment. The previous code does not cause any regression bug for
existing channel allocation besides idxd driver since the hotplug usage
case is only used by idxd at this point.
With this change, the chan->idr_ref is also not needed any longer. We can
have a device with no channels registered due to hot plug. The channel
device release code no longer should attempt to free the dma device id on
the last channel release.

It's pretty hard to reproduce, only one hit so far.
[CAUSE]
This is because we're calling btrfs_join_transaction() without re-using
the current running one:
btrfs_finish_ordered_io()
|- btrfs_join_transaction() <<< Call #1
|- btrfs_record_root_in_trans()
|- btrfs_reserve_extent()
|- btrfs_join_transaction() <<< Call #2
Normally such btrfs_join_transaction() call should re-use the existing
one, without trying to re-start a transaction.
But the problem is, in btrfs_join_transaction() call #1, we call
btrfs_record_root_in_trans() before initializing current::journal_info.
And in btrfs_join_transaction() call #2, we're relying on
current::journal_info to avoid such deadlock.
[FIX]
Call btrfs_record_root_in_trans() after we have initialized
current::journal_info.
