MMDC is a multi-mode DDR controller that supports DDR3/DDR3L x16/x32/x64
and LPDDR2 two channel x16/x32 memory types. MMDC is configurable, high
performance, and optimized. MMDC is present on i.MX6 Quad and i.MX6
QuadPlus devices, but this driver only supports i.MX6 Quad at the moment.
MMDC provides registers for performance counters which read via this
driver to help debug memory throughput and similar issues.

The cleanups for v4.9 are a little larger that usual, but thankfully
that is almost exclusively due to removing a significant number of
files that have become obsolete after the still ongoing conversion
of old board files to devicetree.
- for mach-omap2, which is still the largest platform in arch/arm/,
the conversion to DT is finally complete after the Nokia N900 is
now fully supported there, along with the omap3 LDP, and we can
remove those two board files.
If no regressions are found, another large cleanup for the platform
will happen as a follow-up, removing dead code and restructuring
the platform based on being DT-only.
- In mach-imx, similar work is ongoing, but has not come that far.
This time, we remove the obsolete board file for the i.MX1
generation, which like i.MX25, i.MX5, i.MX6, and i.MX7 is now DT-only.
The remaining board files are for i.MX2 and i.MX3 machines
based on old ARM926 or ARM1136 cores that should work with DT
in principle.
- realview has just been converted from board files to DT, and a lot
of code gets removed in the process. This is the last
ARM/Keil/Versatile derived platform that was still using board
files, the other ones being integrator, versatile and vexpress.
We can probably merge the remaining code into a single directory
in the near future.
- clps711x had completed the conversion in v4.8, but we accidentally

PCI_DOMAINS config should be selected for any SoCs
having more than a single PCIe controller. Without PCI_DOMAINS
config, only one PCIe controller gets registered.
Select PCI_DOMAINS in ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM if PCI is selected, since
it doesn't harm even if a platform has a single PCIe port.
Also remove PCI_DOMAINS being selected from other platform
specific configs.

of all peripherals which are GPIO line consumers for all legacy boards
from .init_machine to .init_late init level. This is needed to
proactively prevent boot time issues on the legacy boards due to the
deprioritized init level of the GPIO controller driver (set lower than

i.MX6SX has bypass PMIC ready function, as this function
is normally NOT enabled on the board design, so we need
to bypass the PMIC ready pin check during DSM mode resume
flow, otherwise, the internal DSM resume logic will be
waiting for this signal to be ready forever and cause
resume fail.

This patch enables cpuidle driver for i.MX6UL, it
reuses i.MX6SX's cpuidle driver, 3 levels of cpuidle
supported:
1. ARM WFI;
2. SOC in WAIT mode;
3. SOC in WAIT mode + ARM power off.
As i.MX6UL has cortex-A7 CORE with an internal L2
cache, so flushing it before powering down ARM platform
is necessary, flush_cache_all() in last step of cpu_suspend
has very small overhead, just call it to avoid cache
type check for different platforms.

Need to enable INT_MEM_CLK_LPM bit in CCM_CGPR for WAIT mode,
without this bit set, if there is pending interrupt during
ARM platform entering WAIT mode without power gating, cache
data will be corrupted, this is a hardware workaround for WAIT
mode and must be enabled.

The IS_ENABLED() macro checks if a Kconfig symbol has been enabled either
built-in or as a module, use that macro instead of open coding the same.
Using the macro makes the code more readable by helping abstract away some

At imx6ul_init_machine, it calls imx6ul_pm_init which needs to find
platform device for ocram, but the default populate platform device is at
of_platform_default_populate_init, which is located at arch_initcall_sync,
and called later than arch_initcall (.init_machine is located at that).
So below warning message will be showed during boots up:
imx6q_suspend_init: failed to find ocram device!
imx6_pm_common_init: No DDR LPM support with suspend -19!
Due to lack of ocram device, the suspend mode "mem" which needs ocram to
store suspend routine code is invalid.
This commit populates platform device before imx6ul_pm_init like other
imx6 platforms do, and the suspend mode "mem" can work successfully.

without it, the "standby" mode can't work well, the system can't be

Most peripherals on the i.MX51 have an Off-Platform Peripheral Access
Control Register (OPACR) in which the access rights (together with the
MPROT registers) can be declared.
However, this does not seem to work for example for SSI1+SDMA, because the
supervisor bit is not set for the SDMA unit.
A similar problem was described in the patch for i.MX53 CPU
(ARM: i.MX53: globally disable supervisor protect), and the same solution
is applicable for i.MX51 CPU.
Patch has tested on custom board based on Digi CCMX-51 module (i.MX51).

The mxc_cpu_type and cpu_is_mx() logic is largely unused, and the
few remaining users were easy to convert into simpler code. Now that
they are gone, we can remove all those macros as well.
The related cpu_is_imx6*() set of function unfortunately is harder
to remove, so those are staying around for now.

The check for cpu_is_mx51/cpu_is_mx53() in mx51_revision()/mx53_revision()
is just a safety precaution, but there are only two callers of this
are using it only on the correct CPUs, and none of the other respective
functions have this extra check.
Removing these lets us kill off the cpu_is_* functions.

mx27_pm_init() uses its own initcall, unlike all of the other
functions like it. Replacing the initcall with a .init_late()
callback makes imx27 more like the others and lets us remove
the last caller of cpu_is_mx27().

The imx31 and imx35 idle functions are almost the same, but we
currently have to check the cpu type every time. This can be
simplified by moving the logic from mx3_cpu_lp_set() into
two separate idle functions, removing the last user of
cpu_is_mx35.

The rnga platform device is initialized for all imx31 machines
from its own initcall, but is never initialized anywhere else.
This moves the platform device creation into both the imx31
dt and non-dt machine init sequences, which has basically the
exact same effect as before, but makes it more obvious what
is going on, while reducing the amount of code and removing
the last user of cpu_is_mx31().

There's no need to explicitly call l2x0_of_init() since it will be
called as a part of init_IRQ() (see arch/arm/kernel/irq.c for
details). This way we can simplify imx_init_l2cache() and ditch the call
to it on i.MX35 (which does not claim compatibility with
"arm,pl310-cache") alltogether.

Update Prefetch Control Register settings to match that of Freescale's
Linux tree. As the commit e3addf1b773964eac7f797e8538c69481be4279c
states (author Nitin Garg):
"... set Prefetch offset to 15, since it improves memcpy performance by
35%. Don't enable Incr double Linefill enable since it adversely affects
memcpy performance by about 32MB/s and reads by 90MB/s. Tested with 4K
to 16MB sized src and dst aligned buffer..."
Those results are also corroborated by our own testing.

Applying a fix for ARM errata 752271 would already be taken care by a
call to a 'fixup' hook as a part of l2x0_of_init() -> __l2c_init() call
chain. Moreso the code in 'fixup' function would do that based on the
PL310's revsion information, whereas removed code does so based on SoC
version which does not work very well on i.MX6Q+ which identifies itself
as i.MX6Q as well but is not affected by 752271.

The i.MX6 Q/DL has an erratum (ERR006687) that prevents the FEC from
waking the CPUs when they are in wait(unclocked) state. As the hardware
workaround isn't applicable to all boards, disable the deeper idle state
when the workaround isn't present and the FEC is in use.
This allows to safely run a kernel with CPUidle enabled on all i.MX6
boards.

This replaces:
- "select ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB" with "select GPIOLIB" as this can
now be selected directly.
- "select ARCH_WANT_OPTIONAL_GPIOLIB" with no dependency: GPIOLIB
is now selectable by everyone, so we need not declare our
intent to select it.
When ordering the symbols the following rationale was used:
if the selects were in alphabetical order, I moved select GPIOLIB
to be in alphabetical order, but if the selects were not
maintained in alphabetical order, I just replaced
"select ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB" with "select GPIOLIB".

We get support for three new 32-bit SoC platforms this time. The amount
of changes in arch/arm for any of them is miniscule, as all the
interesting code is in device driver subsystems (irqchip, clk, pinctrl,
...) these days. I'm listing them here, as the addition of the Kconfig
statement is the main relevant milestone for a new platform. In each
case, some drivers are are shared with existing platforms, while
other drivers are added for v4.7 as well, or come in a later release.
- The Aspeed platform is probably the most interesting one, this is
what most whitebox servers use as their baseboard management
controller. We get support for the very common ast2400 and ast2500
SoCs. The OpenBMC project focuses on this chip, and the LWN
article about their ELC 2016 presentation at
https://lwn.net/Articles/683320/ triggered the submission, but the
code comes from IBM's OpenPOWER team rather than the team at
Facebook. There are still a lot more drivers that need to get added
over time, and I hope both teams can work together on that.
- OXNAS is an old platform for Network Attached Storage devices
from Oxford Semiconductor. There are models with ARM10 (!) and
ARM11MPCore cores, but for now, we only support the original ARM9
based versions.

The cpufreq-dt-platdev driver supports creation of cpufreq-dt platform
device now, reuse that and remove similar code from platform code.
Note that the complete routine imx27_dt_init() is removed as

DMA access got disabled for device drivers with zero DMA mask property.
sdhci-esdhc-imx got blocked from DMA access by this. Hence: initialize
the DMA mask to enable access again.

There is no reason to limit the TWD to be used on SMP kernels only if the
hardware has it available.
On Wandboard i.MX6SOLO, running PREEMPT-RT and cyclictest I see as max
immediately after start in idle:
UP : ~90us
SMP: ~50us
UP + TWD: ~20us.
Based on this numbers I prefer the TWD over the slightly slower MXC
timer.

- The gpio_chip is now a *real device*. Until now the gpio chips
were just piggybacking the parent device or (gasp) floating in
space outside of the device model. We now finally make GPIO chips
devices. The gpio_chip will create a gpio_device which contains
a struct device, and this gpio_device struct is kept private.
Anything that needs to be kept private from the rest of the kernel
will gradually be moved over to the gpio_device.
- As a result of making the gpio_device a real device, we have added
resource management, so devm_gpiochip_add_data() will cut down on
overhead and reduce code lines. A huge slew of patches convert
almost all drivers in the subsystem to use this.
- Building on making the GPIO a real device, we add the first step
of a new userspace ABI: the GPIO character device. We take small
steps here, so we first add a pure *information* ABI and the tool
"lsgpio" that will list all GPIO devices on the system and all
lines on these devices. We can now discover GPIOs properly from
userspace. We still have not come up with a way to actually *use*
GPIOs from userspace.
- To encourage people to use the character device for the future,
we have it always-enabled when using GPIO. The old sysfs ABI is
still opt-in (and can be used in parallel), but is marked as
deprecated. We will keep it around for the foreseeable future,
but it will not be extended to cover ever more use cases.
Cleanup:
- Bjorn Helgaas removed a whole slew of per-architecture <asm/gpio.h>
includes. This dates back to when GPIO was an opt-in feature and
no shared library even existed: just a header file with proper
prototypes was provided and all semantics were up to the arch to
implement. These patches make the GPIO chip even more a proper
device and cleans out leftovers of the old in-kernel API here
and there. Still some cruft is left but it's very little now.
- There is still some clamping of return values for .get() going
on, but we now return sane values in the vast majority of drivers
and the errorpath is sanitized. Some patches for powerpc, blackfin
and unicore still drop in.
- We continue to switch the ARM, MIPS, blackfin, m68k local GPIO

All the generic L2 cache handling code is encapsulated by a
check if the L2 cache is enabled. If it's enabled already, the code
is skipped. The write to the L2-Cache controller from non-secure
world causes an imprecise external abort. This is needed in
scenarios where one of the cores runs an other OS, e.g. an RTOS.
For the i.MX6 specific L2 cache handling we missed this check.
Add it.

i.MX only needs to select ARM_CPU_SUSPEND manually for the
very specific case that CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is disabled and imx6
is used with CONFIG_PM enabled for runtime PM.
If we are building a kernel only for CPUs that are not using
the cpu_suspend() helper, we otherwise get a harmless
build warning:

The generic_pm_domain structure uses an array of latencies to be able to
declare multiple intermediate states.
Declare a single "OFF" state with the default latencies So that the
power_off_latency_ns and power_on_latency_ns fields of generic_pm_domain
structure can be eventually removed.

The i.MX6QP is a different SOC, but internally we treate it as i.MX6Q
Rev_2.0 to maximum the code reusability. The chip silicon number we
read from the ANADIG_DIGPROG is 0x630100. This patch add code to
identify it as i.MX6QP Rev_1.0 when print out the silicon version.

Enable ARM big-endian mode on mach-imx. This requires adding some
byte swapping in the debug functions (which otherwise hang forever)
and of course the secondary core bringup.
Tested (on top of 4.4) on i.MX6 HummingBoard quad-core (IMX6Q).

Instead of __raw_*, define imx_* to *_relaxed and use those.
Using imx_* was requested by Arnd because *_relaxed tends to
indicate that the code was carefully reviewed to not require
any synchronisation and otherwise be safe, which isn't the

- It was noted that the driver .get_value() callbacks was
sometimes reporting negative -ERR values to the gpiolib core, expecting
them to be propagated to consumer gpiod_get_value() and gpio_get_value()
calls. This was not happening, so as there was a mess of drivers
returning negative errors and some returning "anything else than zero"
to indicate that a line was active. As some would have bit 31 set to
indicate "line active" it clashed with negative error codes. This is
fixed by the largeish series clamping values in all drivers with
!!value to [0,1] and then augmenting the code to propagate error codes

- Add a void *data pointer to struct gpio_chip. The container_of() design
pattern is indeed very nice, but we want to reform the struct gpio_chip
to be a non-volative, stateless business, and keep states internal to
the gpiolib to be able to hold on to the state when adding a proper

drivers need a handle at the internal state that is not dependent on

The separate struct bgpio_chip has been a pain to handle, both
by being confusingly similar in name to struct gpio_chip and
for being contained inside a struct so that struct gpio_chip
is contained in a struct contained in a struct, making several
steps of dereferencing necessary.
Make things simpler: include the fields directly into
<linux/gpio/driver.h>, #ifdef:ed for CONFIG_GENERIC_GPIO, and
get rid of the <linux/basic_mmio_gpio.h> altogether. Prefix
some of the member variables with bgpio_* and add proper
kerneldoc while we're at it.
Modify all users to handle the change and use a struct
gpio_chip directly. And while we're at it: replace all
container_of() dereferencing by gpiochip_get_data() and
registering the gpio_chip with gpiochip_add_data().

Many ARM sub-architectures use prompts followed by "if" conditional,
but it is wrong.
Please notice the difference between
config ARCH_FOO
bool "Foo SoCs" if ARCH_MULTI_V7
and
config ARCH_FOO
bool "Foo SoCs"
depends on ARCH_MULTI_V7
These two are *not* equivalent!
In the former statement, it is not ARCH_FOO, but its prompt that
depends on ARCH_MULTI_V7. So, it is completely valid that ARCH_FOO
is selected by another, but ARCH_MULTI_V7 is still disabled. As it is
not unmet dependency, Kconfig never warns. This is probably not what
you want.
The former should be used only when you need to do so, and you really
understand what you are doing. (In most cases, it should be wrong!)
For enabling/disabling sub-architectures, the latter is always correct.
As a good side effect, this commit fixes some entries over 80 columns
(mach-imx, mach-integrator, mach-mbevu).

and in making the lines shorter]

GPC irq domain is a child domain of GIC, now all of platform irqs
are inside GPC domain, during the module populate, all devices irq
should have correct type setting in GIC, however, there is no
.irq_set_type callback setting in GPC, so the irq_set_type will be
skipped and cause all irqs' type in /proc/interrupt are "edge" which
mismatch with irq type setting in dtb file. Since GPC has no irq
type setting, so just tell kernel to use irq_chip_set_type_parent.

Since we now have a generic data structure to express an
interrupt specifier, convert all hierarchical irqchips that
are OF based to use a fwnode_handle as part of their alloc
and xlate (which becomes translate) callbacks.
As most of these drivers have dependencies (they exchange IRQ
specifiers), change them all in a single, massive patch...

The struct irq_domain contains a "struct device_node *" field
(of_node) that is almost the only link between the irqdomain
and the device tree infrastructure.
In order to prepare for the removal of that field, convert all
users to use irq_domain_get_of_node() instead.

This patch adds suspend function for i.MX6UL, it supports
"standby" and "mem" mode, for "standby" mode, SoC will
enter STOP mode only, while for "mem" mode, SoC will
enter STOP mode and DDR IO will be set to low power
mode.
As i.MX6UL contains a "Cortex-A7" ARM core which has no
PL310, so we need to avoid any PL310 operations during
suspend/resume, also, we need to flush Cortex-A7's inernal
L2 cache before suspend.

Most interrupt flow handlers do not use the irq argument. Those few
which use it can retrieve the irq number from the irq descriptor.
Remove the argument.
Search and replace was done with coccinelle and some extra helper

This change modifies gen_pool_get() and devm_gen_pool_create() client
interfaces adding one more argument "name" of a gen_pool object.
Due to implementation gen_pool_get() is capable to retrieve only one
gen_pool associated with a device even if multiple gen_pools are created,
fortunately right at the moment it is sufficient for the clients, hence
provide NULL as a valid argument on both producer devm_gen_pool_create()
and consumer gen_pool_get() sides.
Because only one created gen_pool per device is addressable, explicitly
add a restriction to devm_gen_pool_create() to create only one gen_pool
per device, this implies two possible error codes returned by the
function, account it on client side (only misc/sram). This completes
client side changes related to genalloc updates.

set_irq_flags is ARM specific with custom flags which have genirq
equivalents. Convert drivers to use the genirq interfaces directly, so we
can kill off set_irq_flags. The translation of flags is as follows:
IRQF_VALID -> !IRQ_NOREQUEST
IRQF_PROBE -> !IRQ_NOPROBE
IRQF_NOAUTOEN -> IRQ_NOAUTOEN
For IRQs managed by an irqdomain, the irqdomain core code handles clearing
and setting IRQ_NOREQUEST already, so there is no need to do this in
.map() functions and we can simply remove the set_irq_flags calls. Some
users also modify IRQ_NOPROBE and this has been maintained although it
is not clear that is really needed. There appears to be a great deal of
blind copy and paste of this code.

Init data marked const should be annotated with __initconst for
correctness and not __initdata. In some cases the array gathering
references to that data has to be marked const as well. This fixes
LTO builds that otherwise fail with section mismatch errors.

Migrate imx driver to the new 'set-state' interface provided by
clockevents core, the earlier 'set-mode' interface is marked obsolete
now.
This also enables us to implement callbacks for new states of clockevent
devices, for example: ONESHOT_STOPPED.
Also drop 'clockevent_mode': It was caching the last state of the
clockevent device. The same behavior can be achieved by using
clockevents state helpers. These helpers are only required for oneshot
mode as shutdown/resume wouldn't be done twice by the core.

If CONFIG_PM is not set the PU power domain needs to be enabled always,
otherwise there are two failure scenarios which will hang the system if
one of the devices in the PU domain is accessed.
1. New DTs (4.1+) drop the "always-on" property from the PU regulator, so
if it isn't properly enabled by the GPC code it will be disabled at the
end of boot.
2. If the bootloader already disabled the PU domain the GPC explicitly
needs to enable it again, even if the kernel doesn't do any power
management. This is a bit hypothetical, as it requires to boot a
mainline kernel on a downstream bootloader, as no mainline bootloader
disables the PM domains.

Like i.MX6, the i.MX7 code calls into the anatop driver, which fails
if that is disabled:

This patch ensures that for an imx7-only build, we still get anatop

It splits irq enable/disable/acknowledge operations into device specific
functions as the hooks in imx_gpt_data, so that we can save the use of
timer_is_xxx() and cpu_is_xxx() checking in these irq functions.

We now have pointer to imx_timer structure available where timer base
address is needed, so we can just kill global timer_base by using
imxtm->base instead.

It defines offset of gpt registers TSTAT, TCN and TCMP per device
type in imx_gpt_data, so that these registers can be accessed in an
way without timer_is_v2() checking.

Since we now have imx_timer structure, it makes more sense to move those
clock event related variables into the structure, so that we can save
some global variables.
