b9fb2a21ac drm_fourcc: Document linear modifier
Not setting the fb modifiers flag is something different from setting
the fb modifiers to 0 (which means explicitly linear). We kinda failed
to document that properly. Spotted by Kristian.

f559013436 Merge branch 'msm-next' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~robclark/linux into drm-next
On the userspace side, all the basics are working, and most of glmark2
is working. I've been working through deqp, and I've got a couple more
things to fix (but we've gone from 70% to 80+% pass in last day, and
current deqp run that is going should pick up another 5-10%). I expect
to push the mesa patches today or tomorrow.

There are a couple more a5xx related patches to take the gpu out of
secure mode (for the devices that come up in secure mode, like the hw
I have), but those depend on an scm patch that would come in through
another tree. If that can land in the next day or two, there might
be a second late pull request for drm/msm.

In addition to the new-shiny, there have also been a lot of overlay/
plane related fixes for issues found using drm-hwc2 (in the process of
testing/debugging the atomic/kms fence patches), resulting in rework
to assign hwpipes to kms planes dynamically (as part of global atomic
state) and also handling SMP (fifo) block allocation atomically as
part of the ->atomic_check() step. All those patches should also help
out atomic weston (when those patches eventually land).

eec688e142 drm/i915: Add i915 perf infrastructure
Adds base i915 perf infrastructure for Gen performance metrics.

This adds a DRM_IOCTL_I915_PERF_OPEN ioctl that takes an array of uint64
properties to configure a stream of metrics and returns a new fd usable
with standard VFS system calls including read() to read typed and sized
records; ioctl() to enable or disable capture and poll() to wait for
data.

A stream is opened something like:

  uint64_t properties[] = {
      /* Single context sampling */
      DRM_I915_PERF_PROP_CTX_HANDLE, ctx_handle,

/* Include OA reports in samples */
      DRM_I915_PERF_PROP_SAMPLE_OA, true,

      /* OA unit configuration */
      DRM_I915_PERF_PROP_OA_METRICS_SET, metrics_set_id,
      DRM_I915_PERF_PROP_OA_FORMAT, report_format,
      DRM_I915_PERF_PROP_OA_EXPONENT, period_exponent,
   };
   struct drm_i915_perf_open_param parm = {
      .flags = I915_PERF_FLAG_FD_CLOEXEC |
               I915_PERF_FLAG_FD_NONBLOCK |
               I915_PERF_FLAG_DISABLED,
      .properties_ptr = (uint64_t)properties,
      .num_properties = sizeof(properties) / 16,
   };
   int fd = drmIoctl(drm_fd, DRM_IOCTL_I915_PERF_OPEN, &param);

Records read all start with a common { type, size } header with
DRM_I915_PERF_RECORD_SAMPLE being of most interest. Sample records
contain an extensible number of fields and it's the
DRM_I915_PERF_PROP_SAMPLE_xyz properties given when opening that
determine what's included in every sample.

No specific streams are supported yet so any attempt to open a stream
will return an error.

v2:
    use i915_gem_context_get() - Chris Wilson
v3:
update read() interface to avoid passing state struct - Chris Wilson
fix some rebase fallout, with i915-perf init/deinit
v4:

bae781b259 drm: Nuke modifier[1-3]
It has been suggested that having per-plane modifiers is making life
more difficult for userspace, so let's just retire modifier[1-3] and
use modifier[0] to apply to the entire framebuffer.

Obviosuly this means that if individual planes need different tiling
layouts and whatnot we will need a new modifier for each combination
of planes with different tiling layouts.

For a bit of extra backwards compatilbilty the kernel will allow
non-zero modifier[1+] but it require that they will match modifier[0].
This in case there's existing userspace out there that sets
modifier[1+] to something non-zero with planar formats.

Mostly a cocci job, with a bit of manual stuff mixed in.

d9c181e22a drm/msm: extend the submit ioctl to pass in flags
We'll want to be able to pass in flags, such as asking for explicit
fencing, and possibly other things down the road. Fortunately we
don't need a full 32b for the pipe-id. So use the upper 16 bits
for flags (which could be extended or reduced later if needed, so
start adding flags from the high bits).

Since anything with the upper bits set would not be a valid pipe-id,
an old userspace would not set any of the upper bits, and an old
kernel would reject it as an invalid pipe-id.

1255501d86 drm/i915: Embrace the race in busy-ioctl
Daniel Vetter proposed a new challenge to the serialisation inside the
busy-ioctl that exposed a flaw that could result in us reporting the
wrong engine as being busy. If the request is reallocated as we test
its busyness and then reassigned to this object by another thread, we
would not notice that the test itself was incorrect.

We are faced with a choice of using __i915_gem_active_get_request_rcu()
to first acquire a reference to the request preventing the race, or to
acknowledge the race and accept the limitations upon the accuracy of the
busy flags. Note that we guarantee that we never falsely report the
object as idle (providing userspace itself doesn't race), and so the
most important use of the busy-ioctl and its guarantees are fulfilled.

91b2db6f65 drm/i915: Pad GTT views of exec objects up to user specified size
Our GPUs impose certain requirements upon buffers that depend upon how
exactly they are used. Typically this is expressed as that they require
a larger surface than would be naively computed by pitch * height.
Normally such requirements are hidden away in the userspace driver, but
when we accept pointers from strangers and later impose extra conditions
on them, the original client allocator has no idea about the
monstrosities in the GPU and we require the userspace driver to inform
the kernel how many padding pages are required beyond the client
allocation.

9e2793f6e4 drm/i915: compile-time consistency check on __EXEC_OBJECT flags
Two different sets of flag bits are stored in the 'flags' member of a
'struct drm_i915_gem_exec_object2', and they're defined in two different
source files, increasing the risk of an accidental clash.

Some flags in this field are supplied by the user; these are defined in
i915_drm.h, and they start from the LSB and work up.

Other flags are defined in i915_gem_execbuffer, for internal use within
that file only; they start from the MSB and work down.

So here we add a compile-time check that the two sets of flags do not
overlap, which would cause all sorts of confusion.

4077798484 drm/vgem: Attach sw fences to exported vGEM dma-buf (ioctl)
vGEM buffers are useful for passing data between software clients and
hardware renders. By allowing the user to create and attach fences to
the exported vGEM buffers (on the dma-buf), the user can implement a
deferred renderer and queue hardware operations like flipping and then
signal the buffer readiness (i.e. this allows the user to schedule
operations out-of-order, but have them complete in-order).

This also makes it much easier to write tightly controlled testcases for
dma-buf fencing and signaling between hardware drivers.

v2: Don't pretend the fences exist in an ordered timeline, but allocate
a separate fence-context for each fence so that the fences are
unordered.
v3: Make the debug output more interesting, and show the signaled status.
v4: Automatically signal the fence to prevent userspace from

af713795c5 drm/vc4: Add a getparam ioctl for getting the V3D identity regs.

bc3d674462 drm/i915: Allow userspace to request no-error-capture upon GPU hangs
igt likes to inject GPU hangs into its command streams. However, as we
expect these hangs, we don't actually want them recorded in the dmesg
output or stored in the i915_error_state (usually). To accommodate this
allow userspace to set a flag on the context that any hang emanating
from that context will not be recorded. We still do the error capture
(otherwise how do we find the guilty context and know its intent?) as
part of the reason for random GPU hang injection is to exercise the race
conditions between the error capture and normal execution.

v2: Split out the request->ringbuf error capture changes.
v3: Move the flag defines next to the intel_context->flags definition

0b27c02a7f drm: Add an encoder and connector type enum for DPI.
Right now exynos is exposing DPI as a TMDS encoder and VGA connector,
which seems rather misleading. This isn't just an internal detail,
since xrandr actually exposes "VGA" as the output name. Define some
new enums so that vc4's DPI can have a more informative name.

I considered other names for the connector as well. For VC4, the
Adafruit DPI kippah takes the 28 GPIO pins and routes them to a
standard-ish 40-pin FPC connector, but "40-pin FPC" doesn't uniquely
identify an ordering of pins (apparently some other orderings exist),
doesn't explain things as well for the user (who, if anything, knows
their product is a DPI kippah/panel combo), and actually doesn't have
to exist (one could connect the 28 GPIOs directly to something else).
Simply "DPI" seems like a good compromise name to distinguish from the
HDMI, DSI, and TV connectors .

6564c65f3a drm/exynos: add DRM_EXYNOS_GEM_MAP ioctl
The commit d931589c01 ("drm/exynos: remove DRM_EXYNOS_GEM_MAP_OFFSET
ioctl") removed it same with the ioctl that this patch adds. The reason
that removed DRM_EXYNOS_GEM_MAP_OFFSET was we could use
DRM_IOCTL_MODE_MAP_DUMB. Both did exactly same thing.

Now we again will revive it as DRM_EXYNOS_GEM_MAP because of render
node. DRM_IOCTL_MODE_MAP_DUMB isn't permitted in render node.

5488dc16fd drm: introduce pipe color correction properties
Patch based on a previous series by Shashank Sharma.

This introduces optional properties to enable color correction at the
pipe level. It relies on 3 transformations applied to every pixels
displayed. First a lookup into a degamma table, then a multiplication
of the rgb components by a 3x3 matrix and finally another lookup into
a gamma table.

The following properties can be added to a pipe :
  - DEGAMMA_LUT : blob containing degamma LUT
  - DEGAMMA_LUT_SIZE : number of elements in DEGAMMA_LUT
  - CTM : transformation matrix applied after the degamma LUT
  - GAMMA_LUT : blob containing gamma LUT
  - GAMMA_LUT_SIZE : number of elements in GAMMA_LUT

DEGAMMA_LUT_SIZE and GAMMA_LUT_SIZE are read only properties, set by
the driver to tell userspace applications what sizes should be the
lookup tables in DEGAMMA_LUT and GAMMA_LUT.

A helper is also provided so legacy gamma correction is redirected
through these new properties.

v2: Register LUT size properties as range

v3: Fix round in drm_color_lut_get_value() helper
More docs on how degamma/gamma properties are used

v4: Update contributors

v5: Rename CTM_MATRIX property to CTM (Doh!)
    Add legacy gamma_set atomic helper
Describe CTM/LUT acronyms in the kernel doc

v6: Fix missing blob unref in drm_atomic_helper_crtc_reset

We need this for GL_TIMESTAMP queries.

Note: currently only supported on a4xx.. a3xx doesn't have this
always-on counter. I think we could emulate it with the one CP
counter that is available, but for now it is of limited usefulness
on a3xx (since we can't seem to do time-elapsed queries in any sane
way with the existing firmware on a3xx, and if you are trying to do
profiling on a tiler you want time-elapsed). We can add that later
if it becomes useful.

bfe981a095 drm: prime: Honour O_RDWR during prime-handle-to-fd
Currently DRM_IOCTL_PRIME_HANDLE_TO_FD rejects all flags except
(DRM|O)_CLOEXEC making it difficult (maybe impossible) for userspace
to mmap() the resulting dma-buf even when this is supported by the
DRM driver.

It is trivial to relax the restriction and permit read/write access.
This is safe because the flags are seldom touched by drm; mostly they
are passed verbatim to dma_buf calls.

v3 (Tiago): removed unused flags variable from drm_prime_handle_to_fd_ioctl.

426960bed3 drm/i915: Seal busy-ioctl uABI and prevent leaking of internal ids
Tvrtko was looking through the execbuffer-ioctl and noticed that the
uABI was tightly coupled to our internal engine identifiers. Close

through the busy-ioctl, and those internal identifiers already do not
match the user identifiers. Fortuitiously, there is only one user of the

a016af2e70 sound updates for 4.5-rc1
We've had quite busy weeks in this cycle. Looking at ALSA core, the
significant changes are a few fixes wrt timer and sequencer ioctls
that have been revealed by fuzzer recently. Other than that, ASoC
core got a few updates about DAI link handling, but these are rather
 straightforward refactoring.

In drivers scene, ASoC received quite lots of new drivers in addition
to bunch of updates for still ongoing Intel Skylake support and
topology API. HD-audio gained a new HDMI/DP hotplug notification via
component. FireWire got a pile of code refactoring/updates with
 SCS.1x driver integration.

 More highlights are shown below.

[NOTE: this contains also many commits for DRM. This is due to the
pull of drm stable branch into sound tree, as the base of i915 audio
component work for HD-audio. The highlights below don't contain
these DRM changes, as these are supposed to be pulled via drm tree in
  anyway sooner or later.]

 Core
  - Handful fixes to harden ALSA timer and sequencer ioctls against
    races reported by syzkaller fuzzer
  - Irq description string can be unique to each card; only for
    HD-audio for now

 ASoC
  - Conversion of the array of DAI links to a list for supporting
dynamically adding and removing DAI links
  - Topology API enhancements to make everything more component based
and being able to specify PCM links via topology
  - Some more fixes for the topology code, though it is still not final
and ready for enabling in production; we really need to get to the
point where that can be done
  - A pile of changes for Intel SkyLake drivers which hopefully deliver
some useful initial functionality for systems with this chipset,

Merge tag 'sound-4.5-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound

Pull sound updates from Takashi Iwai:
"We've had quite busy weeks in this cycle.

[ NOTE: this contains also many commits for DRM. This is due to the
pull of drm stable branch into sound tree, as the base of i915 audio
component work for HD-audio. The highlights below don't contain
these DRM changes, as these are supposed to be pulled via drm tree
in anyway sooner or later. ]

  Core:
   - Handful fixes to harden ALSA timer and sequencer ioctls against
     races reported by syzkaller fuzzer
   - Irq description string can be unique to each card; only for
     HD-audio for now

  ASoC:
   - Conversion of the array of DAI links to a list for supporting
dynamically adding and removing DAI links
   - Topology API enhancements to make everything more component based
and being able to specify PCM links via topology
   - Some more fixes for the topology code, though it is still not final
and ready for enabling in production; we really need to get to the
point where that can be done
   - A pile of changes for Intel SkyLake drivers which hopefully deliver
some useful initial functionality for systems with this chipset,
though there is more work still to come
   - Lots of new features and cleanups for the Renesas drivers
   - ANC support for WM5110
   - New drivers: Imagination Technologies IPs, Atmel class D speaker,
     Cirrus CS47L24 and WM1831, Dialog DA7128, Realtek RT5659 and
RT56156, Rockchip RK3036, TI PC3168A, and AMD ACP

506a8e87d8 drm/i915: Add soft-pinning API for execbuffer
Userspace can pass in an offset that it presumes the object is located
at. The kernel will then do its utmost to fit the object into that
location. The assumption is that userspace is handling its own object
locations (for example along with full-ppgtt) and that the kernel will
rarely have to make space for the user's requests.

v2: Fixed incorrect eviction found by Michal Winiarski - fix suggested by Chris
Wilson. Fixed incorrect error paths causing crash found by Michal Winiarski.
(Not published externally)

v3: Rebased because of trivial conflict in object_bind_to_vm. Fixed eviction
to allow eviction of soft-pinned objects when another soft-pinned object used
by a subsequent execbuffer overlaps reported by Michal Winiarski.
(Not published externally)

v4: Moved soft-pinned objects to the front of ordered_vmas so that they are
pinned first after an address conflict happens to avoid repeated conflicts in
rare cases (Suggested by Chris Wilson). Expanded comment on
drm_i915_gem_exec_object2.offset to cover this new API.

v5: Added I915_PARAM_HAS_EXEC_SOFTPIN parameter for detecting this capability
(Kristian). Added check for multiple pinnings on eviction (Akash). Made sure
buffers are not considered misplaced without the user specifying
EXEC_OBJECT_SUPPORTS_48B_ADDRESS. User must assume responsibility for any
addressing workarounds. Updated object2.offset field comment again to clarify
NO_RELOC case (Chris). checkpatch cleanup.

v6: Trivial rebase on latest drm-intel-nightly

v7: Catch attempts to pin above the max virtual address size and return
EINVAL (Tvrtko). Decouple EXEC_OBJECT_SUPPORTS_48B_ADDRESS and
EXEC_OBJECT_PINNED flags, user must pass both flags in any attempt to pin
something at an offset above 4GB (Chris, Daniel Vetter).

d5b1a78a77 drm/vc4: Add support for drawing 3D frames.
The user submission is basically a pointer to a command list and a
pointer to uniforms. We copy those in to the kernel, validate and
relocate them, and store the result in a GPU BO which we queue for
execution.

v2: Drop support for NV shader recs (not necessary for GL), simplify
vc4_use_bo(), improve bin flush/semaphore checks, use __u32 style
    types.

463873d570 drm/vc4: Add an API for creating GPU shaders in GEM BOs.
Since we have no MMU, the kernel needs to validate that the submitted
shader code won't make any accesses to memory that the user doesn't
control, which involves banning some operations (general purpose DMA
writes), and tracking where we need to write out pointers for other
operations (texture sampling). Once it's validated, we return a GEM
BO containing the shader, which doesn't allow mapping for write or
exporting to other subsystems.

v2: Use __u32-style types.

d5bc60f6ad drm/vc4: Add create and map BO ioctls.
While there exist dumb APIs for creating and mapping BOs, one of the
rules is that drivers doing 3D acceleration have to provide their own
APIs for buffer allocation (besides, the pitch/height parameters of
the dumb alloc don't really make sense for a lot of 3D allocations).

v2: Use __u32-style types, use "drm.h" instead of <drm/drm.h>.
