0adcdbcb17 video: fbdev: don't print error message on framebuffer_alloc() failure
framebuffer_alloc() can fail only on kzalloc() memory allocation
failure and since kzalloc() will print error message in such case
we can omit printing extra error message in drivers (which BTW is
what the majority of framebuffer_alloc() users is doing already).

02f17ffd34 video: fbdev: omapfb: lcd_ams_delta: use GPIO lookup table
Now as Amstrad Delta board - the only user of this driver - provides
GPIO lookup tables, switch from GPIO numbers to GPIO descriptors and
use the table to locate required GPIO pins.

Declare static variables for storing GPIO descriptors and replace
gpio_ function calls with their gpiod_ equivalents. Move GPIO lookup
to the driver probe function so device initialization can be deferred
instead of aborted if a GPIO pin is not yet available.

Pin naming used by the driver should be followed while respective GPIO
lookup table is initialized by a board init code.

These come from an earlier patch of mine that turned all display drivers
into separate modules. The fix is to add a MODULE_LICENSE tag. Since I'm
doing that, adding a description and author field also makes sense. I
went by the authors listed in the comment at the top of each file, but
removed Imre's Nokia email address that I assume is not valid any more,

b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 11139

and resulted in the first patch in this series.

If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930

and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
   GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
   LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
   GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
   ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
   LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
   LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1

and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

 - make fbcon a built-time depency for fbdev (fbcon was tristate option
before, now it is a bool) - this is a first step in preparations for
making console_lock usage saner (currently it acts like the BKL for
   all things fbdev/fbcon) (Daniel Vetter)

 - add fbcon=margin:<color> command line option to select the fbcon
   margin color (David Lechner)

 - add DMI quirk table for x86 systems which need fbcon rotation
(devices like Asus T100HA, GPD Pocket, the GPD win and the I.T.Works
   TW891) (Hans de Goede)

 - fix 1bpp logo support for unusual width (needed by LEGO MINDSTORMS
   EV3) (David Lechner)

 - enable Xilinx FB driver for ARM ZynqMP platform (Michal Simek)

 - fix use after free in the error path of udlfb driver (Anton Vasilyev)

 - fix error return code handling in pxa3xx_gcu driver (Gustavo A. R.
   Silva)

 - fix bootparams.screeninfo arguments checking in vgacon (Jan H.
   Schönherr)

 - do not leak uninitialized padding in clk to userspace in the debug
code of atyfb driver (Vladis Dronov)

 - fix compiler warnings in fbcon code and matroxfb driver (Arnd
   Bergmann)

 - convert fbdev susbsytem to using %pOF instead of full_name (Rob
   Herring)

 - structures constifications (Arvind Yadav, Bhumika Goyal, Gustavo A.
   R. Silva, Julia Lawall)

 - misc cleanups (Gustavo A. R. Silva, Hyun Kwon, Julia Lawall, Kuninori
   Morimoto, Lynn Lei)

Commit 561eb9d09a ("fbdev: omap/lcd: Make callbacks optional") made
panel callbacks optional but forgot to update check_required_callbacks().

561eb9d09a fbdev: omap/lcd: Make callbacks optional
Most OMAP FB LCD drivers don't have anything to do in their panel
callbacks. This leads to a large set of empty boilerplate functions in the
panel drivers. Make those callbacks optional by checking if they are set
before calling them. This allows those boilerplate functions to be removed.

Every single one of the OMAP fbdev LCD drivers implements no-op remove,

7166829215 fbdev: Remove deprecated create_singlethread_workqueue
The workqueue "esd_wq" has only a single workitem(&md->esd_work)
and hence doesn't require ordering. Also, it is not being used on a
memory reclaim path. Hence, the singlethreaded workqueue has been
replaced with the use of system_wq.

System workqueues have been able to handle high level of concurrency
for a long time now and hence it's not required to have a singlethreaded
workqueue just to gain concurrency. Unlike a dedicated per-cpu workqueue
created with create_singlethread_workqueue(), system_wq allows multiple
work items to overlap executions even on the same CPU; however, a
per-cpu workqueue doesn't have any CPU locality or global ordering
guarantee unless the target CPU is explicitly specified and thus the
increase of local concurrency shouldn't make any difference.

mipid_esd_stop_check () calls cancel_delayed_work() in mipid_cleanup()
to ensure that there are no pending tasks while disconnecting the driver.

1a46712aa9 This is the bulk of GPIO changes for kernel v4.6:
Core changes:

 - The gpio_chip is now a *real device*. Until now the gpio chips
were just piggybacking the parent device or (gasp) floating in
space outside of the device model. We now finally make GPIO chips
devices. The gpio_chip will create a gpio_device which contains
a struct device, and this gpio_device struct is kept private.
Anything that needs to be kept private from the rest of the kernel
will gradually be moved over to the gpio_device.

 - As a result of making the gpio_device a real device, we have added
resource management, so devm_gpiochip_add_data() will cut down on
overhead and reduce code lines. A huge slew of patches convert
almost all drivers in the subsystem to use this.

 - Building on making the GPIO a real device, we add the first step
of a new userspace ABI: the GPIO character device. We take small
steps here, so we first add a pure *information* ABI and the tool
"lsgpio" that will list all GPIO devices on the system and all
lines on these devices. We can now discover GPIOs properly from
userspace. We still have not come up with a way to actually *use*
   GPIOs from userspace.

 - To encourage people to use the character device for the future,
we have it always-enabled when using GPIO. The old sysfs ABI is
still opt-in (and can be used in parallel), but is marked as
deprecated. We will keep it around for the foreseeable future,
but it will not be extended to cover ever more use cases.

 Cleanup:

 - Bjorn Helgaas removed a whole slew of per-architecture <asm/gpio.h>
includes. This dates back to when GPIO was an opt-in feature and
no shared library even existed: just a header file with proper
prototypes was provided and all semantics were up to the arch to
implement. These patches make the GPIO chip even more a proper
device and cleans out leftovers of the old in-kernel API here
and there. Still some cruft is left but it's very little now.

 - There is still some clamping of return values for .get() going
on, but we now return sane values in the vast majority of drivers
and the errorpath is sanitized. Some patches for powerpc, blackfin
   and unicore still drop in.

 - We continue to switch the ARM, MIPS, blackfin, m68k local GPIO
implementations to use gpiochip_add_data() and cut down on code
   lines.

 - MPC8xxx is converted to use the generic GPIO helpers.

 - ATH79 is converted to use the generic GPIO helpers.

f6e45661f9 dma, mm/pat: Rename dma_*_writecombine() to dma_*_wc()
Rename dma_*_writecombine() to dma_*_wc(), so that the naming
is coherent across the various write-combining APIs. Keep the
old names for compatibility for a while, these can be removed
at a later time. A guard is left to enable backporting of the
rename, and later remove of the old mapping defines seemlessly.

Build tested successfully with allmodconfig.

The following Coccinelle SmPL patch was used for this simple
transformation:

@ rename_dma_alloc_writecombine @
expression dev, size, dma_addr, gfp;
@@

-dma_alloc_writecombine(dev, size, dma_addr, gfp)
+dma_alloc_wc(dev, size, dma_addr, gfp)

@ rename_dma_free_writecombine @
expression dev, size, cpu_addr, dma_addr;
@@

-dma_free_writecombine(dev, size, cpu_addr, dma_addr)
+dma_free_wc(dev, size, cpu_addr, dma_addr)

@ rename_dma_mmap_writecombine @
expression dev, vma, cpu_addr, dma_addr, size;
@@

-dma_mmap_writecombine(dev, vma, cpu_addr, dma_addr, size)
+dma_mmap_wc(dev, vma, cpu_addr, dma_addr, size)

We also keep the old names as compatibility helpers, and
guard against their definition to make backporting easier.

2f9ba65d9d fbdev: kill fb_rotate
The fb_rotate method in struct fb_ops is never actually invoked, and
it's been that way in the entire history of git (in fact, the last
occurrence of the string '->fb_rotate' vanished over 10 years ago,
with b4d8aea6d6, and that merely tested whether the callback
existed). So remove some dead code and make struct fb_obs a little
smaller.

288e6eaa06 gpio: Include linux/gpio.h instead of asm/gpio.h
Most arches have an asm/gpio.h that merely includes linux/gpio.h. The
others select ARCH_HAVE_CUSTOM_GPIO_H, and when that's selected,
linux/gpio.h includes asm/gpio.h.

Therefore, code should include linux/gpio.h instead of including asm/gpio.h
directly.

Remove includes of asm/gpio.h, adding an include of linux/gpio.h when
necessary.

This is a follow-on to 7563bbf89d ("gpiolib/arches: Centralise
bolierplate asm/gpio.h").

The h3 LCD driver fails to link when tps65010 is configured

7ceb1892c0 video: omap: delete support for early fbmem allocation
Commit 1e434f9318 (OMAPFB: remove early mem
alloc from old omapfb) deleted the support for early fbmem allocation
from the platform code, but some code still remains in the driver side.
Delete this code now, as it repotedly causes build issues on !MMU.

The patch was tested on Amstrad E3 and Nokia 770 and framebuffer
functionality is not affected.

81c44c2b2c video/omap: fix modular build
The framebuffer layer can be a loadable module, which forces
omapfb to be a module as well. However, this breaks the lcd
drivers, which are linked into the omapfb driver but each
have their own module_init() function. To solve this,
we split out the lcd drivers into separate modules and
export omapfb_register_panel, which is the only interface
required between the main omapfb driver and the lcd panel
drivers.

We also have to introduce a new Kconfig symbol for H3, since
that lcd driver has a dependency on TPS65010, which we can
express better in Kconfig than Makefile syntax.

f7018c2135 video: move fbdev to drivers/video/fbdev
The drivers/video directory is a mess. It contains generic video related
files, directories for backlight, console, linux logo, lots of fbdev
device drivers, fbdev framework files.

Make some order into the chaos by creating drivers/video/fbdev
directory, and move all fbdev related files there.

No functionality is changed, although I guess it is possible that some
subtle Makefile build order related issue could be created by this
patch.
