Pull power management updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"The majority of changes go into the cpufreq subsystem this time.
To me, quite obviously, the biggest ticket item is the new "schedutil"
governor. Interestingly enough, it's the first new cpufreq governor
since the beginning of the git era (except for some out-of-the-tree
ones).
There are two main differences between it and the existing governors.
First, it uses the information provided by the scheduler directly for
making its decisions, so it doesn't have to track anything by itself.
Second, it can invoke drivers (supporting that feature) to adjust CPU
performance right away without having to spawn work items to be
executed in process context or similar. Currently, the acpi-cpufreq
driver is the only one supporting that mode of operation, but then it
is used on a large number of systems.
The "schedutil" governor as included here is very simple and mostly
regarded as a foundation for future work on the integration of the
scheduler with CPU power management (in fact, there is work in
progress on top of it already). Nevertheless it works and the
preliminary results obtained with it are encouraging.
There also is some consolidation of CPU frequency management for ARM
platforms that can add their machine IDs the the new stub dt-platdev
driver now and that will take care of creating the requisite platform
device for cpufreq-dt, so it is not necessary to do that in platform
code any more. Several ARM platforms are switched over to using this
generic mechanism.
In addition to that, the intel_pstate driver is now going to respect
CPU frequency limits set by the platform firmware (or a BMC) and
provided via the ACPI _PPC object.
The devfreq subsystem is getting a new "passive" governor for SoCs
subsystems that will depend on somebody else to manage their voltage
rails and its support for Samsung Exynos SoCs is consolidated.
The rest is support for new hardware (Intel Broxton support in
intel_idle for one example), bug fixes, optimizations and cleanups in
a number of places.
Specifics:
- New cpufreq "schedutil" governor (making decisions based on CPU
utilization information provided by the scheduler and capable of
switching CPU frequencies right away if the underlying driver
supports that) and support for fast frequency switching in the
acpi-cpufreq driver (Rafael Wysocki)

Some wakeups should not be considered a sucessful poll. For example on
s390 I/O interrupts are usually floating, which means that _ALL_ CPUs
would be considered runnable - letting all vCPUs poll all the time for
transactional like workload, even if one vCPU would be enough.
This can result in huge CPU usage for large guests.
This patch lets architectures provide a way to qualify wakeups if they
should be considered a good/bad wakeups in regard to polls.
For s390 the implementation will fence of halt polling for anything but
known good, single vCPU events. The s390 implementation for floating
interrupts does a wakeup for one vCPU, but the interrupt will be delivered
by whatever CPU checks first for a pending interrupt. We prefer the
woken up CPU by marking the poll of this CPU as "good" poll.
This code will also mark several other wakeup reasons like IPI or
expired timers as "good". This will of course also mark some events as
not sucessful. As KVM on z runs always as a 2nd level hypervisor,
we prefer to not poll, unless we are really sure, though.
This patch successfully limits the CPU usage for cases like uperf 1byte
transactional ping pong workload or wakeup heavy workload like OLTP
while still providing a proper speedup.
This also introduced a new vcpu stat "halt_poll_no_tuning" that marks
wakeups that are considered not good for polling.

The introduction of switch_mm_irqs_off() brought back an old bug
regarding the use of preempt_enable_no_resched:
As part of:
62b94a08da ("sched/preempt: Take away preempt_enable_no_resched() from modules")
the definition of preempt_enable_no_resched() is only available in
built-in code, not in loadable modules, so we can't generally use
it from header files.
However, the ARM version of finish_arch_post_lock_switch()
calls preempt_enable_no_resched() and is defined as a static
inline function in asm/mmu_context.h. This in turn means we cannot
include asm/mmu_context.h from modules.
With today's tip tree, asm/mmu_context.h gets included from
linux/mmu_context.h, which is normally the exact pattern one would
expect, but unfortunately, linux/mmu_context.h can be included from
the vhost driver that is a loadable module, now causing this compile
time error with modular configs:
In file included from ../include/linux/mmu_context.h:4:0,
from ../drivers/vhost/vhost.c:18:
../arch/arm/include/asm/mmu_context.h: In function 'finish_arch_post_lock_switch':
../arch/arm/include/asm/mmu_context.h:88:3: error: implicit declaration of function 'preempt_enable_no_resched' [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]
preempt_enable_no_resched();
Andy already tried to fix the bug by including linux/preempt.h
from asm/mmu_context.h, but that didn't help. Arnd suggested reordering
the header files, which wasn't popular, so let's use this
workaround instead:
The finish_arch_post_lock_switch() definition is now also hidden
inside of #ifdef MODULE, so we don't see anything referencing
preempt_enable_no_resched() from a header file. I've built a
few hundred randconfig kernels with this, and did not see any
new problems.

macros separate from those of the host systems as the underlying
hardware page tables can be configured to be noticably different in
layout from the stage 1 page tables used by the host.
Adds 16K page size support based on the above.
Adds a generic firmware probing layer for the timer and GIC so that KVM
initializes using the same logic based on both ACPI and FDT.
Finally adds support for hardware updating of the access flag.
The ARMv8.1 architecture extensions introduce support for hardware
updates of the access and dirty information in page table entries. With
VTCR_EL2.HA enabled (bit 21), when the CPU accesses an IPA with the
PTE_AF bit cleared in the stage 2 page table, instead of raising an
Access Flag fault to EL2 the CPU sets the actual page table entry bit
(10). To ensure that kernel modifications to the page table do not
inadvertently revert a bit set by hardware updates, certain Stage 2
software pte/pmd operations must be performed atomically.
The main user of the AF bit is the kvm_age_hva() mechanism. The
kvm_age_hva_handler() function performs a "test and clear young" action
on the pte/pmd. This needs to be atomic in respect of automatic hardware
updates of the AF bit. Since the AF bit is in the same position for both
Stage 1 and Stage 2, the patch reuses the existing
ptep_test_and_clear_young() functionality if
__HAVE_ARCH_PTEP_TEST_AND_CLEAR_YOUNG is defined. Otherwise, the
existing pte_young/pte_mkold mechanism is preserved.
The kvm_set_s2pte_readonly() (and the corresponding pmd equivalent) have
to perform atomic modifications in order to avoid a race with updates of
the AF bit. The arm64 implementation has been re-written using
exclusives.
Currently, kvm_set_s2pte_writable() (and pmd equivalent) take a pointer
argument and modify the pte/pmd in place. However, these functions are
only used on local variables rather than actual page table entries, so
it makes more sense to follow the pte_mkwrite() approach for stage 1
attributes. The change to kvm_s2pte_mkwrite() makes it clear that these
functions do not modify the actual page table entries.
The (pte|pmd)_mkyoung() uses on Stage 2 entries (setting the AF bit
explicitly) do not need to be modified since hardware updates of the
dirty status are not supported by KVM, so there is no possibility of
losing such information.

The current kvm implementation on arm64 does cpu-specific initialization
at system boot, and has no way to gracefully shutdown a core in terms of
kvm. This prevents kexec from rebooting the system at EL2.
This patch adds a cpu tear-down function and also puts an existing cpu-init
code into a separate function, kvm_arch_hardware_disable() and
kvm_arch_hardware_enable() respectively.
We don't need the arm64 specific cpu hotplug hook any more.

The generic memremap() falls back to using ioremap_cache() to create
MEMREMAP_WB mappings if the requested region is not already covered
by the linear mapping, unless the architecture provides an implementation
of arch_memremap_wb().
Since ioremap_cache() is not appropriate on ARM to map memory with the
same attributes used for the linear mapping, implement arch_memremap_wb()
which does exactly that. Also, relax the WARN() check to allow MT_MEMORY_RW
mappings of pfn_valid() pages.

The original ARM-only ioremap flavor 'ioremap_cached' has been renamed
to 'ioremap_cache' to align with other architectures, and subsequently
abused in generic code to map things like firmware tables in memory.
For that reason, there is currently an effort underway to deprecate
ioremap_cache, whose semantics are poorly defined, and which is typed
with an __iomem annotation that is inappropriate for mappings of ordinary
memory.
However, original users of ioremap_cached() used it in a context where
the I/O connotation is appropriate, and replacing those instances with
memremap() does not make sense. So let's revive ioremap_cached(), so
that we can change back those original users before we drop ioremap_cache
entirely in favor of memremap.

Pull read-only kernel memory updates from Ingo Molnar:
"This tree adds two (security related) enhancements to the kernel's
handling of read-only kernel memory:
- extend read-only kernel memory to a new class of formerly writable
kernel data: 'post-init read-only memory' via the __ro_after_init
attribute, and mark the ARM and x86 vDSO as such read-only memory.
This kind of attribute can be used for data that requires a once
per bootup initialization sequence, but is otherwise never modified
after that point.
This feature was based on the work by PaX Team and Brad Spengler.
(by Kees Cook, the ARM vDSO bits by David Brown.)
- make CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA always enabled on x86 and remove the
Kconfig option. This simplifies the kernel and also signals that
read-only memory is the default model and a first-class citizen.
(Kees Cook)"

This patch updates csum_ipv6_magic so that it correctly recognizes that
protocol is a unsigned 8 bit value.
This will allow us to better understand what limitations may or may not be
present in how we handle the data. For example there are a number of
places that call htonl on the protocol value. This is likely not necessary
and can be replaced with a multiplication by ntohl(1) which will be
converted to a shift by the compiler.

This patch updates all instances of csum_tcpudp_magic and
csum_tcpudp_nofold to reflect the types that are usually used as the source
inputs. For example the protocol field is populated based on nexthdr which
is actually an unsigned 8 bit value. The length is usually populated based
on skb->len which is an unsigned integer.
This addresses an issue in which the IPv6 function csum_ipv6_magic was
generating a checksum using the full 32b of skb->len while
csum_tcpudp_magic was only using the lower 16 bits. As a result we could
run into issues when attempting to adjust the checksum as there was no
protocol agnostic way to update it.
With this change the value is still truncated as many architectures use
"(len + proto) << 8", however this truncation only occurs for values
greater than 16776960 in length and as such is unlikely to occur as we stop
the inner headers at ~64K in size.
I did have to make a few minor changes in the arm, mn10300, nios2, and
score versions of the function in order to support these changes as they
were either using things such as an OR to combine the protocol and length,
or were using ntohs to convert the length which would have truncated the
value.
I also updated a few spots in terms of whitespace and type differences for
the addresses. Most of this was just to make sure all of the definitions
were in sync going forward.

the generic DMA API, and they all use the same header to do so.
Move this header, pci-dma-compat.h, to include/linux and include it from

For completeness, the 32bit code also get such a predicate (always

So far, our handling of cache maintenance by VA has been pretty
simple: Either the access is in the guest RAM and generates a S2
fault, which results in the page being mapped RW, or we go down
the io_mem_abort() path, and nuke the guest.
The first one is fine, but the second one is extremely weird.
Treating the CM as an I/O is wrong, and nothing in the ARM ARM
indicates that we should generate a fault for something that
cannot end-up in the cache anyway (even if the guest maps it,
it will keep on faulting at stage-2 for emulation).
So let's just skip this instruction, and let the guest get away
with it.

Almost all architectures define init_new_context() as a function,
but on ARM, it's a macro and that causes a compiler warning when
its return code is not used:

The physical-relative calculation between the XIP text and data sections
introduced by the previous patch was far from obvious. Let's simplify it
by turning it into a macro which takes the two (virtual) addresses.
This allows us to arrange the calculation in a more obvious manner - we
can make it two sub-expressions which calculate the physical address for
each symbol, and then takes the difference of those physical addresses.

We can still override these settings via mach/memory.h, but let's provide
sensible defaults so that SPARSEMEM is available in the multiplatform
kernels.
Two platforms currently use SECTION_SIZE_BITS < 28, but are expected to
work with 28 (albeit slightly less efficiently if not all banks are
populated):
- mach-rpc: uses 26 bits. Based on mach/hardware.h it looks like this
platform puts RAM at 0x1000_0000 - 0x1fff_ffff, and I/O below
0x1000_0000.
- mach-sa1100: uses 27 bits. mach/memory.h indicates that RAM occupies
the entire range of 0xc000_0000 - 0xdfff_ffff.
But Arnd says in that rpc and sa1100 will never have to use the
default since they cannot be part of a multiplatform kernel, and that
is unlikely to change.
Several platforms need MAX_PHYSMEM_BITS >= 36 so we'll pick that as the
minimum. Anything higher and we'll fail the SECTIONS_WIDTH + NODES_WIDTH +
ZONES_WIDTH test in <linux/mm.h>.
Some analysis from Russell King at
http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/linux-arm-kernel/2014-October/298957.html:
I think this is fine in as far as it goes - this means we end up with
256 entries in the mem_section array which means it occupies one page,
which I think is acceptable overhead.
The other thing to be aware of here is the obvious:
#if (MAX_ORDER - 1 + PAGE_SHIFT) > SECTION_SIZE_BITS
#error Allocator MAX_ORDER exceeds SECTION_SIZE
#endif
Which means that with 28 bits of section, that's a maximum allocator
order of 16. We appear to allow FORCE_MAX_ZONEORDER to be set up to
64 in the case of shmobile, which doesn't seem like a sensible upper
limit - and certainly isn't when sparsemem is enabled.
Given this, I think that FORCE_MAX_ZONEORDER's help, and the
dependencies probably could do with some improvement to make the
issues more transparent.

For an XIP build, _etext does not represent the end of the
binary image that needs to stay mapped into the MODULES_VADDR area.
Years ago, data came before text in the memory map. However,
now that the order is text/init/data, an XIP_KERNEL needs to map
up to the data location in order to keep from cutting off
parts of the kernel that are needed.
We only map up to the beginning of data because data has already been
copied, so there's no reason to keep it around anymore.
A new symbol is created to make it clear what it is we are referring
to.
This fixes the bug where you might lose the end of your kernel area

which "bx lr" is optimal.

Some SoCs use a Palmchip BK-310x UART which is mostly 16550 compatible
but with a different register layout. While this UART has previously
only been supported in MIPS based chips (Alchemy, Ralink), the ARM based
SMP87xx series from Sigma Designs also uses it.
This patch allows the debug console to work with this type of UART.

Currently xen_dma_map_page concludes that DMA to anything other than
the head page of a compound page must be foreign, since the PFN of the
page is that of the head.
Fix the check to instead consider the whole of a compound page to be
local if the PFN of the head passes the 1:1 check.
We can never see a compound page which is a mixture of foreign and
local sub-pages.
The comment already correctly described the intention, but fixup the
spelling and some grammar.
This fixes the various SSH protocol errors which we have been seeing
on the cubietrucks in our automated test infrastructure.
This has been broken since commit 3567258d28 ("xen/arm: use
hypercall to flush caches in map_page"), which was in v3.19-rc1.
NB arch/arm64/.../xen/page-coherent.h also includes this file.

Make virt_to_idmap() return an unsigned long rather than phys_addr_t.
Returning phys_addr_t here makes no sense, because the definition of
virt_to_idmap() is that it shall return a physical address which maps
identically with the virtual address. Since virtual addresses are
limited to 32-bit, identity mapped physical addresses are as well.
Almost all users already had an implicit narrowing cast to unsigned long
so let's make this official and part of this interface.

Enable ARM big-endian mode on mach-imx. This requires adding some
byte swapping in the debug functions (which otherwise hang forever)

This branch is the culmination of 5 years of effort to bring the ARMv6
and ARMv7 platforms together such that they can all be enabled and
boot the same kernel. It has been a tremendous amount of cleanup and
refactoring by a huge number of people, and creation of several new
(and major) subsystems to better abstract out all the platform details
in an appropriate manner.
The bulk of this branch is a large patchset from Arnd that brings several
of the more minor and older platforms we have closer to multiplatform
support. Among these are MMP, S3C64xx, Orion5x, mv78xx0 and realview
Much of this is moving around header files from old mach directories,
but there are also some cleanup patches of debug_ll (lowlevel debug
per-platform options) and other parts.
Linus Walleij also has some patchs to clean up the older ARM Realview
platforms by finally introducing DT support, and Rob Herring has some
for ARM Versatile which is now DT-only. Both of these platforms are
now multiplatform.
Finally, a couple of patches from Russell for Dove PMU, and a fix from
Valentin Rothberg for Exynos ADC, which were rebased on top of the
series to avoid conflicts.

To date, we have implemented two I/O usage models for persistent memory,
PMEM (a persistent "ram disk") and DAX (mmap persistent memory into
userspace). This series adds a third, DAX-GUP, that allows DAX mappings
to be the target of direct-i/o. It allows userspace to coordinate
DMA/RDMA from/to persistent memory.
The implementation leverages the ZONE_DEVICE mm-zone that went into
4.3-rc1 (also discussed at kernel summit) to flag pages that are owned
and dynamically mapped by a device driver. The pmem driver, after
mapping a persistent memory range into the system memmap via
devm_memremap_pages(), arranges for DAX to distinguish pfn-only versus
page-backed pmem-pfns via flags in the new pfn_t type.
The DAX code, upon seeing a PFN_DEV+PFN_MAP flagged pfn, flags the
resulting pte(s) inserted into the process page tables with a new
_PAGE_DEVMAP flag. Later, when get_user_pages() is walking ptes it keys
off _PAGE_DEVMAP to pin the device hosting the page range active.
Finally, get_page() and put_page() are modified to take references
against the device driver established page mapping.
Finally, this need for "struct page" for persistent memory requires
memory capacity to store the memmap array. Given the memmap array for a
large pool of persistent may exhaust available DRAM introduce a
mechanism to allocate the memmap from persistent memory. The new
"struct vmem_altmap *" parameter to devm_memremap_pages() enables
arch_add_memory() to use reserved pmem capacity rather than the page
allocator.
This patch (of 18):
The core has developed a need for a "pfn_t" type [1]. Move the existing
pfn_t in KVM to kvm_pfn_t [2].

This implements UEFI kernel support for 32-bit ARM, based on the existing
arm64 support and existing generic early ioremap support. It is based on
commit f7d9248942 ("arm64/efi: refactor EFI init and runtime code for
reuse by 32-bit ARM"), which was pulled from the arm64 repo [1] as branch
'aarch64/efi'
[1] git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm64/linux.git
Since 9a46ad6d6d ("smp: make smp_call_function_many() use logic
similar to smp_call_function_single()"), the core IPI handling
has been simplified, and generic_smp_call_function_interrupt is
now the same as generic_smp_call_function_single_interrupt.
This means that one of IPI_CALL_FUNC and IPI_CALL_FUNC_SINGLE has
become redundant. We can then safely drop IPI_CALL_FUNC_SINGLE,
and use only IPI_CALL_FUNC.
This has the advantage of reducing the number of SGI IDs we're using
(a fairly scarse resource).

Footbridge has two debug ports that are handled a bit differently:
The 8250 port uses the normal debug/8250.S implementation that is shared
with a lot of other platforms, but it relies on the DEBUG_UART_8250
option to be turned on automatically instead of being selected by
DEBUG_FOOTBRIDGE_COM1 as we do for most other platforms. I'm changing
this to use a 'select' and change the dependency to the debug symbol
rather than the platform symbol for consistency.
The DC21285 UART has a separate top-level option, and relies on
the traditional include/mach/debug-macro.S method. With the s3c64xx
multiplatform series queued up for 4.5, it is now the last one that does
this, so by moving this file to include/debug/dc21285.S, we can get
all platforms to do things the same way.

The uaccess_with_memcpy() code is currently incompatible with the SW
PAN code: it takes locks within the region that we've changed the DACR,
potentially sleeping as a result. As we do not save and restore the
DACR across co-operative sleep events, can lead to an incorrect DACR
value later in this code path.

KVM/ARM fixes for v4.4-rc4
- A series of fixes to deal with the aliasing between the sp and xzr register
- A fix for the cache flush fix that went in -rc3
On ARM64 register index of 31 corresponds to both zero register and SP.
However, all memory access instructions, use ZR as transfer register. SP
is used only as a base register in indirect memory addressing, or by
register-register arithmetics, which cannot be trapped here.
Correct emulation is achieved by introducing new register accessor
functions, which can do special handling for reg_num == 31. These new
accessors intentionally do not rely on old vcpu_reg() on ARM64, because
it is to be removed. Since the affected code is shared by both ARM
flavours, implementations of these accessors are also added to ARM32 code.
This patch fixes setting MMIO register to a random value (actually SP)
instead of zero by something like:
*((volatile int *)reg) = 0;
compilers tend to generate "str wzr, [xx]" here

Following (a long time after) a4b5d580e0 ("bug: Make BUG() always stop

In a multiplatform configuration, we may end up building a kernel for
both Marvell PJ1 and an ARMv4 CPU implementation. In that case, the
xscale-cp0 code is built with gcc -march=armv4{,t}, which results in a
build error from the coprocessor instructions.
Since we know this code will only have to run on an actual xscale
processor, we can simply build the entire file for ARMv5TE.
Related to this, we need to handle the iWMMXT initialization sequence
differently during boot, to ensure we don't try to touch xscale
specific registers on other CPUs from the xscale_cp0_init initcall.
cpu_is_xscale() used to be hardcoded to '1' in any configuration that
enables any XScale-compatible core, but this breaks once we can have a
combined kernel with MMP1 and something else.
In this patch, I replace the existing cpu_is_xscale() macro with a new
cpu_is_xscale_family() macro that evaluates true for xscale, xsc3 and
mohawk, which makes the behavior more deterministic.
The two existing users of cpu_is_xscale() are modified accordingly,
but slightly change behavior for kernels that enable CPU_MOHAWK without
also enabling CPU_XSCALE or CPU_XSC3. Previously, these would leave leave
PMD_BIT4 in the page tables untouched, now they clear it as we've always
done for kernels that enable both MOHAWK and the support for the older
CPU types.
Since the previous behavior was inconsistent, I assume it was
unintentional.

- a series of patches to synchronously halt a guest (prerequisite for

- some tracepoint improvements
- a tweak for the EL2 panic handlers
- some more VGIC cleanups getting rid of redundant state
x86: quite a few changes:
- support for VT-d posted interrupts (i.e. PCI devices can inject
interrupts directly into vCPUs). This introduces a new component (in
virt/lib/) that connects VFIO and KVM together. The same infrastructure
will be used for ARM interrupt forwarding as well.
- more Hyper-V features, though the main one Hyper-V synthetic interrupt

- nested virtualization now supports VPID (same as PCID but for vCPUs)
which makes it quite a bit faster
- for future hardware that supports NVDIMM, there is support for clflushopt,
clwb, pcommit
- support for "split irqchip", i.e. LAPIC in kernel + IOAPIC/PIC/PIT in
userspace, which reduces the attack surface of the hypervisor
- obligatory smattering of SMM fixes
- on the guest side, stable scheduler clock support was rewritten to not
require help from the hypervisor.

dw_pcie_host_init() creates the PCI host bridge with pci_common_init_dev(),
an ARM-specific function that supplies the ARM-specific pci_sys_data
structure as the PCI "sysdata". To use dw_pcie_host_init() on other
architectures, we will copy the internals of pci_common_init_dev() into
pcie-designware.c instead of calling it, and dw_pcie_host_init() will
supply the DesignWare pcie_port structure as "sysdata".
Most ARM "sysdata" users are specific to non-DesignWare host bridges;
they'll be unaffected because those bridges will continue to have the ARM
pci_sys_data. Most of the rest are ARM-generic functions called by
pci_common_init_dev(); these will be unaffected because dw_pcie_host_init()
will no longer call pci_common_init().
But the ARM pcibios_align_resource() can be called by the PCI core for any
bridge, so it can't depend on sysdata since it may be either pci_sys_data
or pcie_port.
Remove the pcibios_align_resource() dependency on sysdata by replacing the
pci_sys_data->align_resource pointer with a global function pointer.
This is less general (we can no longer have per-host bridge
align_resource() methods), but the pci_sys_data->align_resource pointer was
used only by Marvell (see mvebu_pcie_enable()), so this would only be a
problem if we had a system with a combination of Marvell and other host
bridges

Swiotlb is used on ARM64 to support DMA on platform where devices are
not protected by an SMMU. Furthermore it's only enabled for DOM0.
While Xen is always using 4KB page granularity in the stage-2 page table,
Linux ARM64 may either use 4KB or 64KB. This means that a Linux page
can be spanned accross multiple Xen page.
The Swiotlb code has to validate that the buffer used for DMA is
physically contiguous in the memory. As a Linux page can't be shared
between local memory and foreign page by design (the balloon code always
removing entirely a Linux page), the changes in the code are very
minimal because we only need to check the first Xen PFN.
Note that it may be possible to optimize the function
check_page_physically_contiguous to avoid looping over every Xen PFN
for local memory. Although I will let this optimization for a follow-up.

The hypercall interface is always using 4KB page granularity. This is
requiring to use xen page definition macro when we deal with hypercall.
Note that pfn_to_gfn is working with a Xen pfn (i.e 4KB). We may want to
rename pfn_gfn to make this explicit.
We also allocate a 64KB page for the shared page even though only the
first 4KB is used. I don't think this is really important for now as it
helps to have the pointer 4KB aligned (XENMEM_add_to_physmap is taking a
Xen PFN).

The ARM architecture only saves the exit class to the HSR (ESR_EL2 for
arm64) on synchronous exceptions, not on asynchronous exceptions like an
IRQ. However, we only report the exception class on kvm_exit, which is
confusing because an IRQ looks like it exited at some PC with the same
reason as the previous exit. Add a lookup table for the exception index
and prepend the kvm_exit tracepoint text with the exception type to
clarify this situation.
Also resolve the exception class (EC) to a human-friendly text version

We introduce kvm_arm_halt_guest and resume functions. They
will be used for IRQ forward state change.
Halt is synchronous and prevents the guest from being re-entered.
We use the same mechanism put in place for PSCI former pause,
now renamed power_off. A new flag is introduced in arch vcpu state,
pause, only meant to be used by those functions.

We currently schedule a soft timer every time we exit the guest if the
timer did not expire while running the guest. This is really not
necessary, because the only work we do in the timer work function is to
kick the vcpu.
Kicking the vcpu does two things:
(1) If the vpcu thread is on a waitqueue, make it runnable and remove it
from the waitqueue.
(2) If the vcpu is running on a different physical CPU from the one
doing the kick, it sends a reschedule IPI.
The second case cannot happen, because the soft timer is only ever
scheduled when the vcpu is not running. The first case is only relevant
when the vcpu thread is on a waitqueue, which is only the case when the
vcpu thread has called kvm_vcpu_block().
Therefore, we only need to make sure a timer is scheduled for
kvm_vcpu_block(), which we do by encapsulating all calls to
kvm_vcpu_block() with kvm_timer_{un}schedule calls.
Additionally, we only schedule a soft timer if the timer is enabled and
unmasked, since it is useless otherwise.
Note that theoretically userspace can use the SET_ONE_REG interface to
change registers that should cause the timer to fire, even if the vcpu
is blocked without a scheduled timer, but this case was not supported
before this patch and we leave it for future work for now.

Some times it is useful for architecture implementations of KVM to know
when the VCPU thread is about to block or when it comes back from
blocking (arm/arm64 needs to know this to properly implement timers, for
example).
Therefore provide a generic architecture callback function in line with
what we do elsewhere for KVM generic-arch interactions.

Mark Brand reports that a NEEDS_SYSCALL_FOR_CMPXCHG enabled kernel would
open a security hole in the ghost syscall used to implement cmpxchg, as
it fails to validate the user pointer.
However, in order for this option to be enabled, you'd need to be
building a pre-ARMv6 kernel with SMP support. There is only one system
known which fits that, which is an early ARM SMP FPGA implementation
based on the ARM926T.
In any case, the Kconfig does not allow SMP to be enabled for pre-ARMv6
systems.
Moreover, even if NEEDS_SYSCALL_FOR_CMPXCHG were to be enabled, the
kernel would not build as __ARM_NR_cmpxchg64 is not defined.
The simple answer is to remove the buggy code.

There is a 12MB unused region in our memory map between the vmalloc and
fixmap areas. This became unused with commit e9da6e9905, confirmed
with commit 64d3b6a3f4.
We also have a 8MB guard area before the vmalloc area. With the default
240MB vmalloc area size and the current VMALLOC_END definition, that
means the end of low memory ends up at 0xef800000 which is unfortunate
for 768MB machines where 8MB of RAM is lost to himem.
Let's move VMALLOC_END to 0xff800000 so the guard area won't chop the
top of the 768MB low memory area while keeping the default vmalloc area
size unchanged and still preserving a gap between the vmalloc and fixmap
areas.

- Remove the KVM_ARM_MAX_VCPUS limitation which has become

This patch removes config option of KVM_ARM_MAX_VCPUS,
and like other ARCHs, just choose the maximum allowed
value from hardware, and follows the reasons:
1) from distribution view, the option has to be
defined as the max allowed value because it need to
meet all kinds of virtulization applications and
need to support most of SoCs;
2) using a bigger value doesn't introduce extra memory
consumption, and the help text in Kconfig isn't accurate
because kvm_vpu structure isn't allocated until request
of creating VCPU is sent from QEMU;
3) the main effect is that the field of vcpus[] in 'struct kvm'
becomes a bit bigger(sizeof(void *) per vcpu) and need more cache
lines to hold the structure, but 'struct kvm' is one generic struct,
and it has worked well on other ARCHs already in this way. Also,
the world switch frequecy is often low, for example, it is ~2000
when running kernel building load in VM from APM xgene KVM host,
so the effect is very small, and the difference can't be observed
in my test at all.

This new statistic can help diagnosing VCPUs that, for any reason,
trigger bad behavior of halt_poll_ns autotuning.
For example, say halt_poll_ns = 480000, and wakeups are spaced exactly
like 479us, 481us, 479us, 481us. Then KVM always fails polling and wastes
10+20+40+80+160+320+480 = 1110 microseconds out of every
479+481+479+481+479+481+479 = 3359 microseconds. The VCPU then
is consuming about 30% more CPU than it would use without
polling. This would show as an abnormally high number of
attempted polling compared to the successful polls.

We need to have memory dependencies on get_domain/set_domain to avoid
the compiler over-optimising these inline assembly instructions.
Loads/stores must not be reordered across a set_domain(), so introduce
a compiler barrier for that assembly.
The value of get_domain() must not be cached across a set_domain(), but
we still want to allow the compiler to optimise it away. Introduce a
dependency on current_thread_info()->cpu_domain to avoid this; the new
memory clobber in set_domain() should therefore cause the compiler to
re-load this. The other advantage of using this is we should have its
address in the register set already, or very soon after at most call
sites.

As of 1eef5d2f1b ("ARM: domains: switch to keeping domain value in

asm/thread_info.h. Remove it.

Almost everyone implements dma_set_mask the same way, although some time
that's hidden in ->set_dma_mask methods.
This patch consolidates those into a common implementation that either
calls ->set_dma_mask if present or otherwise uses the default
implementation. Some architectures used to only call ->set_dma_mask
after the initial checks, and those instance have been fixed to do the
full work. h8300 implemented dma_set_mask bogusly as a no-ops and has
been fixed.
Unfortunately some architectures overload unrelated semantics like changing
the dma_ops into it so we still need to allow for an architecture override
for now.

Most architectures just call into ->dma_supported, but some also return 1
if the method is not present, or 0 if no dma ops are present (although
that should never happeb). Consolidate this more broad version into
common code.
Also fix h8300 which inorrectly always returned 0, which would have been
a problem if it's dma_set_mask implementation wasn't a similarly buggy
noop.
As a few architectures have much more elaborate implementations, we
still allow for arch overrides.

Currently there are three valid implementations of dma_mapping_error:
(1) call ->mapping_error
(2) check for a hardcoded error code
(3) always return 0
This patch provides a common implementation that calls ->mapping_error
if present, then checks for DMA_ERROR_CODE if defined or otherwise
returns 0.
