7dcf2a9fce remove dummy asm/kvm.h files
This patch removes the dummy asm/kvm.h files on architectures not (yet)
supporting KVM and uses the same conditional headers installation as
already used for a.out.h .

Also removed are superfluous install rules in the s390 and x86 Kbuild
files (they are already in Kbuild.asm).

27ac792ca0 PAGE_ALIGN(): correctly handle 64-bit values on 32-bit architectures
On 32-bit architectures PAGE_ALIGN() truncates 64-bit values to the 32-bit
boundary. For example:

	u64 val = PAGE_ALIGN(size);

always returns a value < 4GB even if size is greater than 4GB.

The problem resides in PAGE_MASK definition (from include/asm-x86/page.h for
example):

#define PAGE_SHIFT      12
#define PAGE_SIZE       (_AC(1,UL) << PAGE_SHIFT)
#define PAGE_MASK       (~(PAGE_SIZE-1))
...
#define PAGE_ALIGN(addr)       (((addr)+PAGE_SIZE-1)&PAGE_MASK)

The "~" is performed on a 32-bit value, so everything in "and" with
PAGE_MASK greater than 4GB will be truncated to the 32-bit boundary.
Using the ALIGN() macro seems to be the right way, because it uses
typeof(addr) for the mask.

Also move the PAGE_ALIGN() definitions out of include/asm-*/page.h in
include/linux/mm.h.

a551643895 hugetlb: modular state for hugetlb page size
The goal of this patchset is to support multiple hugetlb page sizes.  This
is achieved by introducing a new struct hstate structure, which
encapsulates the important hugetlb state and constants (eg.  huge page
size, number of huge pages currently allocated, etc).

The hstate structure is then passed around the code which requires these
fields, they will do the right thing regardless of the exact hstate they
are operating on.

This patch adds the hstate structure, with a single global instance of it
(default_hstate), and does the basic work of converting hugetlb to use the
hstate.

Future patches will add more hstate structures to allow for different
hugetlbfs mounts to have different page sizes.

180c12fb22 KVM: s390: rename private structures
While doing some tests with our lcrash implementation I have seen a
naming conflict with prefix_info in kvm_host.h vs. addrconf.h

To avoid future conflicts lets rename private definitions in
asm/kvm_host.h by adding the kvm_s390 prefix.

9789db08c0 [S390] Add sched.h include to asm-s390/pgtable.h.
Some macros in pgtable.h access members from struct task_struct.
Currently always works since sched.h seems always to be included
before asm/pgtable.h. Unfortunately that is not anymore true with
Jeremy Fitzhardinge's ptep_modify_prot transaction abstraction patch.
So fix this.

a0443fbb46 [S390] Extra Kernel Parameters via VMPARM
Now it is possible to specify additional kernel parameters on the IPL
command line using the IPL PARM option.
If the Linux system is already running, the new reipl sysfs attribute
'parm' can be used to change kernel parameters for the next reboot.
Examples:
  IPL    C PARM dasd=1234 root=/dev/dasda1
  IPL 1234 PARM savesys=mylnxnss
  echo "init=/bin/bash" > /sys/firmware/reipl/ccw/parm

9d92a7e1b0 [S390] cio: Add chsc subchannel driver.
This patch adds a driver for subchannels of type chsc.

A device /dev/chsc is created which may be used to issue ioctls to:
- obtain information about the machine's I/O configuration
- dynamically change the machine's I/O configuration via
  asynchronous chsc commands

da7c5af828 [S390] cio: Allow adapter interrupt handlers per isc.
Enhance the adapter interruption API so that device drivers can
register a handler for a specific interruption subclass. This
will allow different device drivers to move to differently
prioritized subclasses in order to avoid congestion.

3a3fc29a6d [S390] cio: Introduce abstract isc definitions.
Replace the numeric values for I/O interruption subclass usage
with abstract definitions and collect them all in asm/isc.h.
This gives us a better overview of which iscs are actually used
and makes it possible to better spread out isc usage in the

bebd9a455b [S390] s390 types: make dma_addr_t 64 bit capable
virtio tests with guests larger than 4 GB revealed that the dma_addr_t
definition for s390 did not make it into the 64bit world.
This patch changes the definition on s390 to have an u64 on 64bit and
u32 on 32bit systems.

0eaeafa10f [S390] s390-kvm: leave sie context on work. Removes preemption requirement

This patch fixes a bug with cpu bound guest on kvm-s390. Sometimes it
was impossible to deliver a signal to a spinning guest. We used
preemption as a circumvention. The preemption notifiers called
vcpu_load, which checked for pending signals and triggered a host
intercept. But even with preemption, a sigkill was not delivered
immediately.

This patch changes the low level host interrupt handler to check for the
SIE  instruction, if TIF_WORK is set. In that case we change the
instruction pointer of the return PSW to rerun the vcpu_run loop. The kvm
code sees an intercept reason 0 if that happens. This patch adds accounting
for these types of intercept as well.

The advantages:
- works with and without preemption
- signals are delivered immediately
- much better host latencies without preemption

02a029b325 signals: s390: renumber TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK
TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK no longer needs to be in the _TIF_WORK_* masks.  Those low
bits are scarce, and are all used up now.  Renumber TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK to
free one up.

Convert s390 to SPARSEMEM and SPARSEMEM_VMEMMAP. We do a select
of SPARSEMEM_VMEMMAP since it is configurable. This is because
SPARSEMEM without SPARSEMEM_VMEMMAP gives us a hell of broken
include dependencies that I don't want to fix.

53492b1de4 [S390] System z large page support.
This adds hugetlbfs support on System z, using both hardware large page
support if available and software large page emulation on older hardware.
Shared (large) page tables are implemented in software emulation mode,
by using page->index of the first tail page from a compound large page
to store page table information.

This lets us use defines for the magic bits in machine flags instead
of using plain numbers all over the place.
In addition on newer machines features/facilities are indicated by the
result of the stfl instruction. So we use these bits instead of trying
to execute new instructions and check wether we get an exception or
not.
Also the mvpg instruction is always available when in zArch mode,
whereas the idte instruction is only available in zArch mode. This
results in some minor optimizations.

6510d41954 kernel: Move arches to use common unaligned access
Unaligned access is ok for the following arches:
cris, m68k, mn10300, powerpc, s390, x86

Arches that use the memmove implementation for native endian, and
the byteshifting for the opposite endianness.
h8300, m32r, xtensa

Packed struct for native endian, byteshifting for other endian:
alpha, blackfin, ia64, parisc, sparc, sparc64, mips, sh

m86knommu is generic_be for Coldfire, otherwise unaligned access is ok.

frv, arm chooses endianness based on compiler settings, uses the byteshifting
versions.  Remove the unaligned trap handler from frv as it is now unused.

v850 is le, uses the byteshifting versions for both be and le.

Remove the now unused asm-generic implementation.

a08cb629f5 s390: implement pte special bit
Convert XIP to support non-struct page backed memory, using VM_MIXEDMAP for
the user mappings.

This requires the get_xip_page API to be changed to an address based one.
Improve the API layering a little bit too, while we're here.

This is required in order to support XIP filesystems on memory that isn't
backed with struct page (but memory with struct page is still supported too).

7e675137a8 mm: introduce pte_special pte bit
s390 for one, cannot implement VM_MIXEDMAP with pfn_valid, due to their memory
model (which is more dynamic than most).  Instead, they had proposed to
implement it with an additional path through vm_normal_page(), using a bit in
the pte to determine whether or not the page should be refcounted:

This is fine, however if we are allowed to use a bit in the pte to determine
refcountedness, we can use that to _completely_ replace all the vma based
schemes.  So instead of adding more cases to the already complex vma-based
scheme, we can have a clearly seperate and simple pte-based scheme (and get
slightly better code generation in the process):

And finally, we may rather make this concept usable by any architecture rather
than making it s390 only, so implement a new type of pte state for this.
Unfortunately the old vma based code must stay, because some architectures may
not be able to spare pte bits.  This makes vm_normal_page a little bit more
ugly than we would like, but the 2 cases are clearly seperate.

So introduce a pte_special pte state, and use it in mm/memory.c.  It is
currently a noop for all architectures, so this doesn't actually result in any
compiled code changes to mm/memory.o.

BTW:
I haven't put vm_normal_page() into arch code as-per an earlier suggestion.
The reason is that, regardless of where vm_normal_page is actually
implemented, the *abstraction* is still exactly the same. Also, while it
depends on whether the architecture has pte_special or not, that is the
only two possible cases, and it really isn't an arch specific function --
the role of the arch code should be to provide primitive functions and
accessors with which to build the core code; pte_special does that. We do
not want architectures to know or care about vm_normal_page itself, and
we definitely don't want them being able to invent something new there
out of sight of mm/ code. If we made vm_normal_page an arch function, then
we have to make vm_insert_mixed (next patch) an arch function too. So I
don't think moving it to arch code fundamentally improves any abstractions,
while it does practically make the code more difficult to follow, for both
mm and arch developers, and easier to misuse.
