Now works with both NTSC and PAL. Tested with CC/XDS for NTSC and
teletext/WSS for PAL. The start lines were wrong, the WSS signal
wasn't captured and there was no difference between NTSC and PAL
w.r.t. the count[] values so NTSC returned way too many lines.

The width, height and field values are core fields since both vbi, video
and blackbird use the same video input.
Move those fields to the correct struct.
Also fix the field checks in the try_fmt functions: add V4L2_FIELD_SEQ_BT/TB
support and map incorrect field values to a correct field value instead of
returning an error.

The timeout is way too small. Especially complicated command like
CX2341X_ENC_STOP_CAPTURE takes much more time than 10 ms. Increase the
timeout to 1 second, just as ivtv does (the cx88-blackbird has the
same IP core for MPEG compression as ivtv).
This solves a nasty issue where STOP_CAPTURE would timeout and the
mailbox is left in a busy state, making it impossible to start streaming
a second time without reloading the driver first.

btcx-risc is for the bt8xx driver and other drivers shouldn't depend

As usual, this patch is very large due to the fact that half a vb2 conversion
isn't possible. And since this affects blackbird, alsa, core, dvb, vbi and
video the changes are all over.
What made this more difficult was the peculiar way the risc program was setup.
The driver allowed for running out of buffers in which case the DMA would stop
and restart when the next buffer was queued. There was also a complicated
timeout system for when buffers weren't filled. This was replaced by a much
simpler scheme where there is always one buffer around and the DMA will just
cycle that buffer until a new buffer is queued. In that case the previous
buffer will be chained to the new buffer. An interrupt is generated at the
start of the new buffer telling the driver that the previous buffer can be
passed on to userspace.
Much simpler and more robust.

This is a duplicate of dev->fmt and can be removed. As a consequence a
lot of tests that check if the format has changed midstream can be
removed as well: the format cannot change midstream, so this is a bogus
check.

Add CI support for DVBSky T980C card. The new host device independent CIMaX SP2 I2C driver was used to implement it.
IRQ handling is not implemented at this point. It could be used to detect the CAM insertion/removal instantly.

This patch adds basic support for DVBSky T980C card. CI interface is not supported.
DVBSky T980C is a PCIe card with the following components:
- CX23885 PCIe bridge
- Si2168-A20 demodulator
- Si2158-A20 tuner
- CIMaX SP2 CI chip
The demodulator and tuner need firmware. They're the same as used with TT CT2-4650 CI:

DVBSky T9580 is a dual tuner card with one DVB-T2/C tuner and one DVB-S2 tuner. It contains the following components:
- PCIe bridge: Conexant CX23885
- Demod for terrestrial/cable: Silicon Labs Si2168-A30
- Tuner for terrestrial/cable: Silicon Labs Si2158-A20
- Demod for sat: Montage DS3103
- Tuner for sat: Montage TS2022
This patch depends on Max Nibble's patch for m88ds3103 (see patchwork 25312: https://patchwork.linuxtv.org/patch/25312/ ).
3 firmwares are needed:
- Si2168-A30 demod and Si2158-A20 tuner: same as TechnoTrend CT2-4400, https://www.mail-archive.com/linux-media@vger.kernel.org/msg76944.html
- Montage DS3103 demod: same as PCTV 461e, Antti has it on his LinuxTV project page: http://palosaari.fi/linux/v4l-dvb/firmware/M88DS3103/
IR receiver is not supported.
Values in cx23885_gpio_setup, cx23885_card_setup and dvbsky_t9580_set_voltage as well as the EEPROM read function are taken from the manufacturer provided semi-open source driver. The drivers in question are Linux GPL'd media tree drivers for cx23885 modified by Max Nibble (nibble.max@gmail.com) with proprietary tuner/demod drivers. Max is aware of this patch and has approved my use of the values in this patch.

Setting the LNB voltage requires setting some GPIOs on the cx23885 with some boards before calling the actual set_voltage function in the demod driver. Add a function pointer into state for that case.

This patch adds support for PT3 PCIe cards.
PT3 has an FPGA PCIe bridge chip, a TC90522 demod chip and
a VA4M6JC2103 tuner module which contains two QM1D1C0042 chips for ISDB-S
and two MxL301RF's for ISDB-T.
It can receive and deliver 4 (2x ISDB-S, 2x ISDB-T) streams simultaneously,
and a kthread is used per stream to poll incoming data,
because PT3 does not have interrupts.
As an antenna input for each delivery system is split in the tuner module
and shared between the corresponding two tuner chips,
LNB/LNA controls that the FPGA chip provides are (naturally) shared as well.
The tuner chips also share the power line in the tuner module,
which is controlled on/off by a GPIO pin of the demod chip.
As with the demod chip and the ISDB-T tuner chip,
the init sequences/register settings for those chips are not disclosed
and stored in a private memory of the FPGA,
PT3 driver executes the init of those chips on behalf of their drivers.

This patch adds support to saa7134 for 'WIS Voyager or compatible' PCI boards
such as the Sensoray model 614 with which this patch was tested. It is a
saa7134-based PCI board with a go7007 MPEG encoder. This was a patch when the
go7007 was still in staging and was not applied when go7007 was moved to
drivers/media since it needed more work.
That work is now done and this last piece of go7007 support can now go in.

The norm_swidth function was unused and is dropped. It's not clear
what the purpose of that function was.
The norm_maxh function was changed so it tests for 60 Hz standards
rather than for 50 Hz standards. The is the preferred order.
The norm_maxw function was poorly written and used: it gives the maximum
allowed line width for the given standard. For 60 Hz that's 720, but
for 50 Hz that's 768 which allows for 768x576 which gives you square
pixels. For 60 Hz formats it is 640x480 that gives square pixels, so
there is no need to go beyond 720.
The initial width was set using norm_maxh(), which was wrong. Just set
to 720, that's what you normally use. Since the initial standard was
NTSC anyway the initial width was always 720 anyway.

Tested VBI support and discovered that the wrong offset was used.
After this change it is now working. Verified with CC/XDS for NTSC
and WSS/Teletext on PAL.
It also reported the wrong start lines for the second field. That's
now fixed as well.

Before you can change the standard or the capture format, make sure the
various vb2_queues aren't in use since you cannot change the buffer size from
underneath a a busy vb2_queue.
Also make sure that the return code of cx23885_set_tvnorm is returned
correctly, otherwise the -EBUSY will be lost.

It's just as easy to do it in the driver. This dependency only uses a
fraction of the btcx-risc module and doing it directly in the driver
adds only a few lines. The btcx-risc module is really meant for the
bttv driver, not for other drivers.

Refactor and clean up the tw68 driver. It's now using the proper
V4L2 core frameworks.
Tested with my Techwell tw6805a and tw6816 grabber boards.

This tw68 driver has been out-of-tree for many years on gitorious:
https://gitorious.org/tw68/tw68-v2.
This copies that code to the kernel as a record of that original code.
Note that William Brack's email address in these sources is no longer
valid and I have not been able to contact him. However, all the code is
standard GPL.

lml33dpatch is boolean. So, the possible values are
true or false.
Instead of using if (lml33dpath), just use
if (!lml33dpath).
That allows a faster mental parsing when analyzing the
code.

The basic API of rc-core used to be:

rc_register_device();
which is a pretty common pattern in the kernel, after the introduction of
protocol arrays the API looks something like:

dev->x = a;
rc_set_allowed_protocols(dev, RC_BIT_X);
dev->z = c;
rc_register_device();
There's no real need for the protocols to be an array, so change it
back to be consistent (and in preparation for the following patches).

This driver codes the two address bytes in reverse order when compared to the
other drivers, so make it consistent (and update the keymap, note that the
result is a prefix change from 0x6b86 -> 0x866b, and the latter is pretty
common among the NECX keymaps. While not conclusive, it's still a strong hint
that the change is correct).

Right now the protocol information is not preserved, rc-core gets handed a
scancode but has no idea which protocol it corresponds to.
This patch (which required reading through the source/keymap for all drivers,
not fun) makes the protocol information explicit which is important
documentation and makes it easier to e.g. support multiple protocols with one
decoder (think rc5 and rc-streamzap). The information isn't used yet so there
should be no functional changes.

The arguments used for ir-kbd-i2c's get_key() functions are not
really suited for rc-core and the ir_raw/ir_key distinction is
just confusing.
Convert all of them to return a protocol/scancode/toggle triple instead.

The bt8xx driver does RC5 decoding for Nebula digi hardware, but includes
some pointless limitations (both start bits must be one, the
device/address/system must be 0x00). Remove those limitations and update
the keymap to use the full RC5 scancode (fortunately the 0x00 address
means that this is perfectly backwards compatible).

This patch removes the null test on dvb. dvb is initialized at the
beginning of the function to &port->dvb. Since port is dereferenced
prior to the null test, port must be a valid pointer, and
&port->dvb cannot be null.

The v4l2_pix_format structure has no reserved field. It is embedded in
the v4l2_framebuffer structure which has no reserved fields either, and
in the v4l2_format structure which has reserved fields that were not
previously required to be zeroed out by applications.
To allow extending v4l2_pix_format, inline it in the v4l2_framebuffer
structure, and use the priv field as a magic value to indicate that the
application has set all v4l2_pix_format extended fields and zeroed all
reserved fields following the v4l2_pix_format field in the v4l2_format
structure.
The availability of this API extension is reported to userspace through
the new V4L2_CAP_EXT_PIX_FORMAT capability flag. Just checking that the
priv field is still set to the magic value at [GS]_FMT return wouldn't
be enough, as older kernels don't zero the priv field on return.
To simplify the internal API towards drivers zero the extended fields
and set the priv field to the magic value for applications not aware of
the extensions.

Rather than having two unions for all types just keep 'val' and
'cur.val' and use the p_cur and p_new unions to access all others.
The only reason for keeping 'val' and 'cur.val' is that it is used
all over, so converting this as well would be a huge job.

Well, what we call as "foo_attach" is the method that should
be called by the dvb_attach() macro.
It should be noticed that the name "dvb_attach" is really a
bad name and don't express what it does.
dvb_attach() basically does three things, if the frontend is
compiled as a module:
- It lookups for the module that it is known to have the
given symbol name and requests such module;
- It increments the module usage (anonymously - so lsmod
doesn't print who loaded the module);
- after loading the module, it runs the function associated
with the dynamic symbol.
When compiled as builtin, it just calls the function given to it.
As dvb_attach() increments refcount, it can't be (easily)
called more than once for the same module, or the kernel
will deny to remove the module, because refcount will never
be zeroed.
In other words, the function name given to dvb_attach()
should be one single symbol that will always be called
before any other function on that module to be used.
For almost all DVB frontends, there's just one function.
However, the dib7000p initialization can require up to 3
functions to be called:
- dib7000p_get_i2c_master;
- dib7000p_i2c_enumeration;
- dib7000p_init (before this patch dib7000_attach).
(plus a bunch of other functions that the bridge driver will
need to call).
As we need to get rid of all those direct calls, because they
cause compilation breakages when bridge is builtin and
frontend is module, we'll need to add a new function that
will be the first one to be called, whatever initialization
is needed.
So, let's rename the function that probes and init the hardware
to dib7000p_init.
A latter patch will add a new dib7000p_attach that will be
used as originally conceived by dvb_attach() way.

If the saa7134 module is loaded with the saa7134_userptr set to 1,
then USERPTR support is enabled. A check in buffer_prepare
verifies that the pointer is page-aligned.

Convert the saa7134 driver to vb2.
Note that while this uses the vb2-dma-sg version, the VB2_USERPTR mode is
disabled. The DMA hardware only supports DMAing full pages, and in the
USERPTR memory model the first and last scatter-gather buffer is almost
never a full page.
In practice this means that we can't use the VB2_USERPTR mode.
This has been tested with raw video, compressed video, VBI, radio, DVB and
video overlays.
Unfortunately, a vb2 conversion is one of those things you cannot split
up in smaller patches, it's all or nothing. This patch switches the whole
driver over to vb2, using the vb2 ioctl and fop helper functions.

saa7134-alsa used low-level videobuf functions to allocate and sync
DMA buffers. Replace this with saa7134-specific code. These functions
will not be available when we convert to vb2.

This solves this bug:

The problem is that when you quit tvtime it calls STREAMOFF, but then it queues a
bunch of buffers for no good reason before closing the file descriptor.
In the past closing the fd would free the vb queue since that was part of the file
handle struct. Since that was moved to the global struct that no longer happened.
This wouldn't be a problem, but the extra QBUF calls that tvtime does meant that
the buffer list in videobuf (q->stream) contained buffers, so REQBUFS would fail
with -EBUSY.
The solution is to init the list head explicitly when releasing the file
descriptor and to not free the video resource when calling streamoff.
The real fix will hopefully go into kernel 3.16 when the vb2 conversion is
merged. Basically the saa7134 driver with the old videobuf is so full of holes it
ain't funny anymore, so consider this a band-aid for kernels 3.14 and 15.

The vb2 core ignores any return code from the stop_streaming op.
And there really isn't anything it can do anyway in case of an error.
So change the return type to void and update any drivers that implement it.
The int return gave drivers the idea that this operation could actually
fail, but that's really not the case.
The pwc amd sdr-msi3101 drivers both had this construction:
if (mutex_lock_interruptible(&s->v4l2_lock))
return -ERESTARTSYS;
This has been updated to just call mutex_lock(). The stop_streaming op
expects this to really stop streaming and I very much doubt this will
work reliably if stop_streaming just returns without really stopping the
DMA.

This patch adds support for the PCI-8604PW card equipped with four 878A.
It is unknown who the manufacturer of this card is and no drivers were
available during development of the patch. According to images found
online, the card is originally sold with Linux DVR software.
A CPLD on the card prevents the 878A from requesting access to the
bus until an initialization sequence has been issued via GPIOs. The
implemented sequence uses the minimum number of GPIOs needed to
successfully unlock bus access. As there are many more GPIOs connected
to the CPLD, it is very likely that some of the others have an influence
on the bus arbitration scheduling. This should be investigated further
in case of performance issues.
The tested card contains an EEPROM on one of the 878A, but it is
completely empty (i.e. contains only 0xff), so it is not possible
to detect the card.

This triggers a WARN_ON in kernel/kmod.c:148 __request_module.

Static checkers complain about the inconsistent NULL check here.
There is an unchecked dereference of "input->fe" in the call to
tuner_attach_tda18271() and there is a second unchecked dereference a
couple lines later when we do:
input->fe2->tuner_priv = input->fe->tuner_priv;
But actually "intput->fe" can't be NULL because if demod_attach_drxk()
fails to allocate it, then we would have return an error code.

ARRAY_SIZE(buf) (8 elements) was intended instead of sizeof(buf) (16
bytes). But this is just a sanity check and the callers always pass
valid values so this doesn't cause a problem.

If a queue was canceled, then the buf_finish op was never called for the
pending buffers. So add this call to queue_cancel. Before calling buf_finish
set the buffer state to PREPARED, which is the correct state. That way the
states DONE and ERROR will only be seen in buf_finish if streaming is in
progress.
Since buf_finish can now be called from non-streaming state we need to
adapt the handful of drivers that actually need to know this.

The no_video flag was checked in all other cases except one. Calling
v4l2_ctrl_handler_setup() if no_video is 1 will crash.
This wasn't noticed before since there are only two card types that
set no_video to 1, so this type of hardware is quite rare.

Dynamic static allocation is evil, as Kernel stack is too low, and
compilation complains about it on some archs:

Instead, let's enforce a limit for the buffer. Considering that I2C
transfers are generally limited, and that devices used on USB has a
max data length of 64 bytes for the control URBs.
So, it seem safe to use 64 bytes as the hard limit for all those devices.
On most cases, the limit is a way lower than that, but this limit
is small enough to not affect the Kernel stack, and it is a no brain
limit, as using smaller ones would require to either carefully each
driver or to take a look on each datasheet.

After analyzing the last four warnings carefully it became clear that these
variables were really completely unused. As a result of that the call to

pm_qos_remove_request was not called on video_release, resulting in the PM
core's list of requests being corrupted when the file handle was freed.
This has no immediate symptoms, but later in operation, the kernel will
panic as the PM core dereferences a dangling pointer.

Cards using the wm8775 specify that in their card struct. Those that do not
use it leave the audio_chip field to 0. Unfortunately, the CX88_AUDIO_WM8775
enum is 0 as well, so boards that do not have the wm8775 still try to load
and use that driver. Change it to 1 to fix this.
This regression was introduced in commit facd23664f.

Hi,
Handling the AV Core/IR interrupts schedules its workqueue but
the schedule_work function returns false if @work was already on the
kernel-global workqueue and true otherwise.
Printing an error message if @work wasn't in the queue is wrong.

Those boards were missing the ISDB-T support.
Most of the work on this patch were done by Alfredo.
My work here were to port this patch from Kernel 3.2 to upstream,
fix the issue caused by the set_frontend bad hook, and add the
Kconfig bits.
Tested on a X8502 board rebranded as:
"Leadership - Placa PCI-e de Captura de Vídeo Híbrida" - product code 3800.

When the frontend drivers got converted to DVBv5 API, the original
hook that tracked when a frontend is set got removed, being replaced
by an approach that would use the gate control. That doesn't work
fine with some boards. Also, the code were called more times than
desired.
Replace it by a logic that will hook the dvb set_frontend ops,
with works with both DVBv3 and DVBv5 calls.
Tested on a Mygica X8502 OEM board.

Apparently the Flatiron genereates an interrupt after the built-in self
test for each of its left and right channels has completed.
Apparently Conexant wire-OR'ed the Flatiron's interrupt output with the
interrupt output of the CX23885 A/V core.
Those interrupts need to be handled, otherwise, they generate an
interrrupt request storm.
So:
- Add flatiron readreg and writereg functions prototypes
on a new header file;
- Modify the av interrupt handler to cleanup flatiron IRQs if no other
interrupt handling happens.

string. Many callers are passing potentially dynamic string content, so

The cx88 driver has one v4l2_device, but the video nodes are owned by two
different PCI busses. So the dev_parent pointer should be set to the correct
parent bus, otherwise sysfs won't show the correct device hierarchy.
This broke starting in 3.6 after a driver change, so this patch resurrects
the correct behavior.

Remove g_chip_ident from cx88. Also remove the v4l2-chip-ident.h include.
The board code used defines from v4l2-chip-ident.h to tell the driver which
audio chip is used. Replace this with a cx88-specific enum.

As USB/PCI/MEDIA_SUPPORT dependencies can be tristate, we can't
simply make the bool menu to be dependent on it. Everything below
the menu should also depend on it, otherwise, we risk to allow
building them with 'y', while only 'm' would be supported.
So, add an IF just before everything below, in order to avoid
such risks.

Currently, if the norm set is V4L2_STD_ALL, then autodetect the current
standard and use that. This is non-standard behavior, and in fact it hasn't
worked for a very long time: before s_std is called in this driver, the
v4l2 core will mask it with the tvnorms field. So even if the application
passes V4L2_STD_ALL, the zoran driver will always see a subset of that.
Since nobody ever complained about this we just remove this non-standard
functionality.

g_chip_ident was used to determine if a saa7114 or saa7115 was used. Instead
just check the subdev name.

The av-core is really a subdev, so there is no need anymore to act as if it

VIDIOC_DBG_G_CHIP_IDENT has been replaced by VIDIOC_DBG_G_CHIP_INFO. Remove
g_chip_ident support from bridge drivers since it is no longer needed.
This patch takes care of all the trivial cases.

This fixes a NULL pointer deference when loading the cx88_dvb module for a
Hauppauge HVR4000.

The cause is that the wm8775 is optional, so even though the board info says
there is one, it doesn't have to be there. Checking whether the module was
actually loaded is much safer.
Note that this driver is quite buggy when it comes to unloading and reloading
modules. Unloading cx8800 and reloading it again will still cause a crash,
most likely because either the i2c bus isn't unloaded at the right time and/or
the v4l2_device_unregister isn't called at the right time.

The orig code will release all the resources if v4l2_device_register()
failed and return 0. But what we need in this case is to return an
negative error code to let the caller known we are failed.
So the patch save the return value of v4l2_device_register() to 'ret'
and return it when error.

Pull i2c changes from Wolfram Sang:
- an arbitration driver. While the driver is quite simple, it caused
discussion if we need additional arbitration on top of the one
specified in the I2C standard. Conclusion is that I accept a few
generic mechanisms, but not very specific ones.
- the core lost the detach_adapter() call. It has no users anymore and
was in the way for other cleanups. attach_adapter() is sadly still
there since there are users waiting to be converted.
- the core gained a bus recovery infrastructure. I2C defines a way to
recover if the data line is stalled. This mechanism is now in the
core and drivers can now pass some data to make use of it.
- bigger driver cleanups for designware, s3c2410
- removing superfluous refcounting from drivers
- removing Ben Dooks as second maintainer due to inactivity. Thanks
for all your work so far, Ben!

Along the time, several debug messages were added at cx88-cards.
While those are still useful to track some troubles with
tuners, they're too verbose:

The hole reason for __must_check is to not ignore an error.
However, a "ret" value is used at cx25821 just to avoid the
Kernel compilation to compain about it.
That, however, produces another warning (with W=1):

if the error happens.

Legacy PCI suspend-resume handlers are called with interrupts enabled.
But cx8800_suspend/cx8800_resume and
cx8802_suspend_common/cx8802_resume_common use spin_lock/spin_unlock
functions to acquire dev->slock, while the same lock is acquired in the
corresponding irq-handlers: cx8800_irq and cx8802_irq.
That means a deadlock is possible if an interrupt happens while suspend
or resume owns the lock. The patch replaces spin_lock/spin_unlock with
spin_lock_irqsave/spin_unlock_irqrestore.
Found by Linux Driver Verification project (linuxtesting.org).

This driver does not have subdevices, so why call subdev ops? After
removing that it became apparent that only Composite is supported as
