This IOCTL provides a mechanism for userspace to trigger a sync object
directly. There are other ways that userspace can trigger a syncobj
such as submitting a dummy batch somewhere or hanging on to a triggered
sync_file and doing an import. This just provides an easy way to
manually trigger the sync object without weird hacks.
The motivation for this IOCTL is Vulkan fences. Vulkan lets you create
a fence already in the signaled state so that you can wait on it
immediatly without stalling. We could also handle this with a new
create flag to ask the driver to create a syncobj that is already
signaled but the IOCTL seemed a bit cleaner and more generic.

This just resets the dma_fence to NULL so it looks like it's never been
signaled. This will be useful once we add the new wait API for allowing
wait on "submit and signal" behavior.

Vulkan VkFence semantics require that the application be able to perform
a CPU wait on work which may not yet have been submitted. This is
perfectly safe because the CPU wait has a timeout which will get
triggered eventually if no work is ever submitted. This behavior is
advantageous for multi-threaded workloads because, so long as all of the
threads agree on what fences to use up-front, you don't have the extra
cross-thread synchronization cost of thread A telling thread B that it
has submitted its dependent work and thread B is now free to wait.
Within a single process, this can be implemented in the userspace driver
by doing exactly the same kind of tracking the app would have to do
using posix condition variables or similar. However, in order for this
to work cross-process (as is required by VK_KHR_external_fence), we need
to handle this in the kernel.
This commit adds a WAIT_FOR_SUBMIT flag to DRM_IOCTL_SYNCOBJ_WAIT which
instructs the IOCTL to wait for the syncobj to have a non-null fence and
then wait on the fence. Combined with DRM_IOCTL_SYNCOBJ_RESET, you can
easily get the Vulkan behavior.

This requests that the driver create the sync object such that it
already has a signaled dma_fence attached. Because we don't need
anything in particular (just something signaled), we use a dummy null
fence. This is useful for Vulkan which has a similar flag that can be
passed to vkCreateFence.

This interface will allow sync object to be used to back
Vulkan fences. This API is pretty much the vulkan fence waiting
API, and I've ported the code from amdgpu.

This commit adds support for waiting on or signaling DRM syncobjs as
part of execbuf. It does so by hijacking the currently unused cliprects
pointer to instead point to an array of i915_gem_exec_fence structs
which containe a DRM syncobj and a flags parameter which specifies
whether to wait on it or to signal it. This implementation
theoretically allows for both flags to be set in which case it waits on
the dma_fence that was in the syncobj and then immediately replaces it
with the dma_fence from the current execbuf.

There's a really nasty nouveau collision, hopefully someone can take a look
once I pushed this out.
SKL+ display engine can scan out certain kinds of compressed surfaces
produced by the render engine. This involved telling the display engine
the location of the color control surfae (CCS) which describes which
parts of the main surface are compressed and which are not. The location
of CCS is provided by userspace as just another plane with its own offset.
By providing our own format information for the CCS formats, we should
be able to make framebuffer_check() do the right thing for the CCS
surface as well.
Note that we'll return the same format info for both Y and Yf tiled
format as that's what happens with the non-CCS Y vs. Yf as well. If
desired, we could potentially return a unique pointer for each
pixel_format+tiling+ccs combination, in which case we immediately be
able to tell if any of that stuff changed by just comparing the
pointers. But that does sound a bit wasteful space wise.

This is useful to allow GL to provide defined results for overlapping
glBlitFramebuffer, which X11 in turn uses to accelerate uncomposited
window movement without first blitting to a temporary. x11perf
-copywinwin100 goes from 1850/sec to 4850/sec.

This is the plumbing for supporting fb modifiers on planes. Modifiers
have already been introduced to some extent, but this series will extend
this to allow querying modifiers per plane. Based on this, the client to
enable optimal modifications for framebuffers.
This patch simply allows the DRM drivers to initialize their list of
supported modifiers upon initializing the plane.

This has proven immensely useful for debugging memory leaks and
overallocation (which is a rather serious concern on the platform,
given that we typically run at about 256MB of CMA out of up to 1GB
total memory, with framebuffers that are about 8MB ecah).
The state of the art without this is to dump debug logs from every GL
application, guess as to kernel allocations based on bo_stats, and try
to merge that all together into a global picture of memory allocation
state. With this, you can add a couple of calls to the debug build of
the 3D driver and get a pretty detailed view of GPU memory usage from
/debug/dri/0/bo_stats (or when we debug print to dmesg on allocation
failure).
The Mesa side currently labels at the gallium resource level (so you
see that a 1920x20 pixmap has been created, presumably for the window
system panel), but we could extend that to be even more useful with
glObjectLabel() names being sent all the way down to the kernel.

huge at all, a revert of a patch that turned out to break things, a fix
up for a new tty ioctl we added in 4.13-rc1 to get the uapi definition
correct, and a few minor serial driver fixes for reported issues.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues.

Hyper-V identifies vCPUs by Virtual Processor Index, which can be
queried via HV_X64_MSR_VP_INDEX msr. It is defined by the spec as a
sequential number which can't exceed the maximum number of vCPUs per VM.
APIC ids can be sparse and thus aren't a valid replacement for VP
indices.
Current KVM uses its internal vcpu index as VP_INDEX. However, to make
it predictable and persistent across VM migrations, the userspace has to
control the value of VP_INDEX.
This patch achieves that, by storing vp_index explicitly on vcpu, and
allowing HV_X64_MSR_VP_INDEX to be set from the host side. For
compatibility it's initialized to KVM vcpu index. Also a few variables
are renamed to make clear distinction betweed this Hyper-V vp_index and
KVM vcpu_id (== APIC id). Besides, a new capability,
KVM_CAP_HYPERV_VP_INDEX, is added to allow the userspace to skip
attempting msr writes where unsupported, to avoid spamming error logs.

There is a flaw in the Hyper-V SynIC implementation in KVM: when message
page or event flags page is enabled by setting the corresponding msr,
KVM zeroes it out. This is problematic because on migration the
corresponding MSRs are loaded on the destination, so the content of
those pages is lost.
This went unnoticed so far because the only user of those pages was
in-KVM hyperv synic timers, which could continue working despite that
zeroing.
Newer QEMU uses those pages for Hyper-V VMBus implementation, and
zeroing them breaks the migration.
Besides, in newer QEMU the content of those pages is fully managed by
QEMU, so zeroing them is undesirable even when writing the MSRs from the
guest side.
To support this new scheme, introduce a new capability,
KVM_CAP_HYPERV_SYNIC2, which, when enabled, makes sure that the synic
pages aren't zeroed out in KVM.

sem_ctime is initialized to the semget() time and then updated at every
semctl() that changes the array.
Thus it does not represent the time of the last change.
Especially, semop() calls are only stored in sem_otime, not in
sem_ctime.
This is already described in ipc/sem.c, I just overlooked that there is
a comment in include/linux/sem.h and man semctl(2) as well.
So: Correct wrong comments.

With current epoll architecture target files are addressed with
file_struct and file descriptor number, where the last is not unique.
Moreover files can be transferred from another process via unix socket,
added into queue and closed then so we won't find this descriptor in the
task fdinfo list.
Thus to checkpoint and restore such processes CRIU needs to find out
where exactly the target file is present to add it into epoll queue.
For this sake one can use kcmp call where some particular target file
from the queue is compared with arbitrary file passed as an argument.
Because epoll target files can have same file descriptor number but
different file_struct a caller should explicitly specify the offset
within.
To test if some particular file is matching entry inside epoll one have
to
- fill kcmp_epoll_slot structure with epoll file descriptor,
target file number and target file offset (in case if only
one target is present then it should be 0)
- call kcmp as kcmp(pid1, pid2, KCMP_EPOLL_TFD, fd, &kcmp_epoll_slot)
- the kernel fetch file pointer matching file descriptor @fd of pid1
- lookups for file struct in epoll queue of pid2 and returns traditional
0,1,2 result for sorting purpose

In case of KVM_S390_GET_CMMA_BITS, the kernel does not only read struct
kvm_s390_cmma_log passed from userspace (which constitutes _IOC_WRITE),
it also writes back a return value (which constitutes _IOC_READ) making
this an _IOWR ioctl instead of _IOW.

Commit ac6424b981 ("sched/wait: Rename wait_queue_t =>
wait_queue_entry_t") had scripted the renaming incorrectly, and didn't
actually check that the 'wait_queue_t' was a full token.
As a result, it also triggered on 'wait_queue_token', and renamed that
to 'wait_queue_entry_token' entry in the autofs4 packet structure
definition too. That was entirely incorrect, and not intended.
The end result built fine when building just the kernel - because
everything had been renamed consistently there - but caused problems in
user space because the "struct autofs_packet_missing" type is exported
as part of the uapi.
This scripts it all back again:

xargs sed -i 's/wait_queue_entry_token/wait_queue_token/g'
and checks the end result.

* Introduce the _flushcache() family of memory copy helpers and use them
for persistent memory write operations on x86. The _flushcache()
semantic indicates that the cache is either bypassed for the copy
operation (movnt) or any lines dirtied by the copy operation are
written back (clwb, clflushopt, or clflush).
* Extend dax_operations with ->copy_from_iter() and ->flush()
operations. These operations and other infrastructure updates allow
all persistent memory specific dax functionality to be pushed into
libnvdimm and the pmem driver directly. It also allows dax-specific
sysfs attributes to be linked to a host device, for example:
/sys/block/pmem0/dax/write_cache
* Add support for the new NVDIMM platform/firmware mechanisms introduced
in ACPI 6.2 and UEFI 2.7. This support includes the v1.2 namespace
label format, extensions to the address-range-scrub command set, new
error injection commands, and a new BTT (block-translation-table)
layout. These updates support inter-OS and pre-OS compatibility.
* Fix a longstanding memory corruption bug in nfit_test.
* Make the pmem and nvdimm-region 'badblocks' sysfs files poll(2)
capable.
* Miscellaneous fixes and small updates across libnvdimm and the nfit
driver.

This makes the device add, del reconfig operations sync. It fixes
the issue where for add and reconfig, we do not know if userspace
successfully completely the operation, so we leave invalid kernel
structs or report incorrect status for the config/reconfig operations.

1. TCMU_ATTR_TYPE is too generic when it describes only the
reconfiguration type, so rename to TCMU_ATTR_RECONFIG_TYPE.
2. Only return the reconfig type when it is a
TCMU_CMD_RECONFIG_DEVICE command.
3. CONFIG_* type is not needed. We can pass the value along with an
ATTR to userspace, so it does not need to read sysfs/configfs.
4. Fix leak in tcmu_dev_path_store and rename to dev_config to
reflect it is more than just a path that can be changed.
6. Don't update kernel struct value if netlink sending fails.
