ACPI / property: Allow multiple property compatible _DSD entries
It is possible to have _DSD entries where the data is compatible with device properties format but are using different GUID for various reasons. In addition to that there can be many such _DSD entries for a single device such as for PCIe root port used to host a Thunderbolt hierarchy: Scope (\_SB.PCI0.RP21) { Name (_DSD, Package () { ToUUID ("6211e2c0-58a3-4af3-90e1-927a4e0c55a4"), Package () { Package () {"HotPlugSupportInD3", 1} }, ToUUID ("efcc06cc-73ac-4bc3-bff0-76143807c389"), Package () { Package () {"ExternalFacingPort", 1}, Package () {"UID", 0 } } }) } More information about these new _DSD entries can be found in: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/pci/dsd-for-pcie-root-ports To make these available for drivers via unified device property APIs, modify ACPI property core so that it supports multiple _DSD entries organized in a linked list. We also store GUID of each _DSD entry in struct acpi_device_properties in case there is need to differentiate between entries. The supported GUIDs are then listed in prp_guids array. ACPI: property: Make the ACPI graph API private
The fwnode graph API is preferred over the ACPI graph API. Therefore make the ACPI graph API private, and use it as a back-end for the fwnode graph API only. Unused functionality is removed while the functionality actually used remains the same. Signed-off-by: Sakari Ailus <sakari.ailus@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. ACPI: Convert ACPI reference args to generic fwnode reference args
Convert all users of struct acpi_reference_args to more generic fwnode_reference_args. This will 1) avoid an ACPI specific references to device nodes with integer arguments as well as 2) allow making references to nodes other than device nodes in ACPI. As a by-product, convert the fwnode interger arguments to u64. The arguments were 64-bit integers on ACPI but the fwnode arguments were just 32-bit. acpi: Add helper for deactivating memory region
Sometimes memory resource may be overlapping with
SystemMemory Operation Region by design, for example if the
memory region is used as a mailbox for communication with a
firmware in the system. One occasion of such mailboxes is
USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI).
With regions like that, it is important that the driver is
able to map the memory with the requirements it has. For
example, the driver should be allowed to map the memory as
non-cached memory. However, if the operation region has been
accessed before the driver has mapped the memory, the memory
has been marked as write-back by the time the driver is
loaded. That means the driver will fail to map the memory
if it expects non-cached memory.
To work around the problem, introducing helper that the
drivers can use to temporarily deactivate (unmap)
SystemMemory Operation Regions that overlap with their
IO memory.

ACPI / PPTT: fix build when CONFIG_ACPI_PPTT is not enabled
Though CONFIG_ACPI_PPTT is selected by platforms and nor user visible, it may be useful to support the build with CONFIG_ACPI_PPTT disabled. ACPI/PPTT: Add Processor Properties Topology Table parsing
ACPI 6.2 adds a new table, which describes how processing units are related to each other in tree like fashion. Caches are also sprinkled throughout the tree and describe the properties of the caches in relation to other caches and processing units. Add the code to parse the cache hierarchy and report the total number of levels of cache for a given core using acpi_find_last_cache_level() as well as fill out the individual cores cache information with cache_setup_acpi() once the cpu_cacheinfo structure has been populated by the arch specific code. An additional patch later in the set adds the ability to report peers in the topology using find_acpi_cpu_topology() to report a unique ID for each processing unit at a given level in the tree. These unique id's can then be used to match related processing units which exist as threads, within a given package, etc. Tested-by: Ard Biesheuvel <ard.biesheuvel@linaro.org> Tested-by: Vijaya Kumar K <vkilari@codeaurora.org> Tested-by: Xiongfeng Wang <wangxiongfeng2@huawei.com> Tested-by: Tomasz Nowicki <Tomasz.Nowicki@cavium.com> Acked-by: Sudeep Holla <sudeep.holla@arm.com> Acked-by: Ard Biesheuvel <ard.biesheuvel@linaro.org> Acked-by: Rafael J. PM / Domains: Allow a better error handling of dev_pm_domain_attach()
The callers of dev_pm_domain_attach() currently checks the returned error code for -EPROBE_DEFER and needs to ignore other error codes. This is an unnecessary limitation, which also leads to a rather strange behaviour in the error path. Address this limitation, by changing the return codes from acpi_dev_pm_attach() and genpd_dev_pm_attach(). More precisely, let them return 0, when no PM domain is needed for the device and then return 1, in case the device was successfully attached to its PM domain. In this way, dev_pm_domain_attach(), gets a better understanding of what happens in the attach attempts and also allowing its caller to better act on real errors codes. PCI/ACPI: Request LTR control from platform before using it
Per the PCI Firmware spec r3.2, sec 4.5, an ACPI-based OS should use _OSC to request control of Latency Tolerance Reporting (LTR) before using it. Request control of LTR, and if the platform does not grant control, don't use it. N.B. If the hardware supports LTR and the ASPM L1.2 substate but the BIOS doesn't support LTR in _OSC, we previously would enable ASPM L1.2. This patch will prevent us from enabling ASPM L1.2 in that case. It does not prevent us from enabling PCI-PM L1.2, since that doesn't depend on LTR. See PCIe r40, sec 5.5.1, for the L1 PM substate entry conditions. Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com> Reviewed-by: Rafael J. Wysocki <rafael.j.wysocki@intel.com> |

ACPI: SPCR: Make SPCR available to x86
SPCR is currently only enabled or ARM64 and x86 can use SPCR to setup an early console. General fixes include updating Documentation & Kconfig (for x86), updating comments, and changing parse_spcr() to acpi_parse_spcr(), and earlycon_init_is_deferred to earlycon_acpi_spcr_enable to be more descriptive. On x86, many systems have a valid SPCR table but the table version is not 2 so the table version check must be a warning. On ARM64 when the kernel parameter earlycon is used both the early console and console are enabled. On x86, only the earlycon should be enabled by by default. Modify acpi_parse_spcr() to allow options for initializing the early console and console separately. The is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v4.16 kernel cycle.
Core changes: - Disallow open drain and open source flags to be set simultaneously. This doesn't make electrical sense, and would the hardware actually respond to this setting, the result would be short circuit. - ACPI GPIO has a new core infrastructure for handling quirks. The quirks are there to deal with broken ACPI tables centrally instead of pushing the work to individual drivers. In the world of BIOS writers, the ACPI tables are perfect. Until they find a mistake in it. When such a mistake is found, we can patch it with a quirk. It should never happen, the problem is that it happens. So we accomodate for it. - Several documentation updates. - Revert the patch setting up initial direction state from reading the device. This was causing bad things for drivers that can't read status on all its pins. It is only affecting debugfs information quality. - Label descriptors with the device name if no explicit label is passed in. - Pave the ground for transitioning SPI and regulators to use GPIO descriptors by implementing some quirks in the device tree GPIO parsing code. New drivers: - New driver for the Access PCIe IDIO 24 family. Other: - Major refactorings and improvements to the GPIO mockup driver used for test and verification. - Moved the AXP209 driver over to pin control since it gained a pin control back-end. These patches will appear (with the same hashes) in the pin control pull request as well. - Convert the onewire GPIO driver w1-gpio to use descriptors. This is merged here since the W1 maintainers send very few pull requests and he ACKed it. - Start to clean up driver headers using <linux/gpio.h> to just use <linux/gpio/driver.h> as appropriate. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIcBAABAgAGBQJacIW6AAoJEEEQszewGV1z9b0P/jxWKaCAGFTTu/HZQ79RBAFq w33nIazzoh+88sN7A9xKexpr4ibOxiCvOwkTtrUBNaxGGy5fslj4+OY5BzunEfBK 1vYxyEqtenvvZK03pOd6CSfHKV+vD5ngnVHGdtGzRvtmDDiSgtzqyEyUhQcXM+l7 PrEh6qrd4TBZezlVR8kn5eqcmclkCBVSQCuLSq+ThMmCKRZuOdf1Im3D6eBzh1/N P81HdcglqbSsfUl1RcFiHs9Z+KcZOq83CNl2Ej1LePK2JBZbmkx9dR+WSJmV1u4P 6wvzFcQDhfGEiiteg2BS5c+o6aAyShpuRNut+2MLre8icmdfpqUEqFotHbfQjW5y sqaejGsJ5aHcRBq7UUM+F9s1R0iN3tlafi3L0WEhl0Tn5huRQq3Uqcw6e5l+XrWd 0h+b5PbKJZO/iqzRhSl+rhc0V2CFDJOCwvY+JX6356fvrcF0T6LhvKfDYtKU3Iyb HB0RG1OcYe228f96azvafCkFyBIYX9mqHBvOXpQQgrZQYXfN1rupLvpOhxC+Wbvn nsGE2bdD6HA1bytTbkxbL+QWP7faHf5YVcZpaN7UWbO3sOzL46fj8eHwHUim95Tr pR5kDZRhZd8+9SCNZ/ttpaEbis9MOqS/3Mlxrj4GXtfFFmR53hjFy2bG/Z7R2RB0 MlSEJRc8iDIs+1j3D2RR =k5nL -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'gpio-v4.16-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij: "The is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v4.16 kernel cycle. device property: Introduce fwnode_irq_get()
Until now there were two very similar functions allowing to get Linux IRQ number from ACPI handle (acpi_irq_get()) and OF node (of_irq_get()). The first one appeared to be used only as a subroutine of platform_irq_get(), which (in the generic code) limited IRQ obtaining from _CRS method only to nodes associated to kernel's struct platform_device. This patch introduces a new helper routine - fwnode_irq_get(), which allows to get the IRQ number directly from the fwnode to be used as common for OF/ACPI worlds. It is usable not only for the parents fwnodes, but also for the child nodes comprising their own _CRS methods with interrupts description. In order to be able o satisfy compilation with !CONFIG_ACPI and also simplify the new code, introduce a helper macro (ACPI_HANDLE_FWNODE), with which it is possible to reach an ACPI handle directly from its fwnode. ACPI: utils: Introduce acpi_dev_get_first_match_name()
Sometimes the user wants to have device name of the match rather than just checking if device present or not. To make life easier for such users introduce acpi_dev_get_first_match_name() helper based on code for acpi_dev_present(). For example, GPIO driver for Intel Merrifield needs to know the device name of pin control to be able to apply GPIO mapping table to the proper device. To be more consistent with the purpose rename struct acpi_dev_present_info -> struct acpi_dev_match_info acpi_dev_present_cb() -> acpi_dev_match_cb() in the utils.c file. ACPI / PM: Make it possible to ignore the system sleep blacklist
The ACPI code supporting system transitions to sleep states uses
an internal blacklist to apply special handling to some machines
reported to behave incorrectly in some ways.
However, some entries of that blacklist cover problematic as well as
non-problematic systems, so give the users of the latter a chance to
ignore the blacklist and run their systems in the default way by
adding acpi_sleep=nobl to the kernel command line.
For example, that allows the users of Dell XPS13 9360 systems not
affected by the issue that caused the blacklist entry for this
machine to be added by commit

ACPI / PM: Take SMART_SUSPEND driver flag into account
Make the ACPI PM domain take DPM_FLAG_SMART_SUSPEND into account in its system suspend callbacks. [Note that the pm_runtime_suspended() check in acpi_dev_needs_resume() is an optimization, because if is not passed, all of the subsequent checks may be skipped and some of them are much more overhead in general.] Also use the observation that if the device is in runtime suspend at the beginning of the "late" phase of a system-wide suspend-like transition, its state cannot change going forward (runtime PM is disabled for it at that time) until the transition is over and the subsequent system-wide PM callbacks should be skipped for it (as they generally assume the device to not be suspended), so add checks for that in acpi_subsys_suspend_late/noirq() and acpi_subsys_freeze_late/noirq(). Moreover, if acpi_subsys_resume_noirq() is called during the subsequent system-wide resume transition and if the device was left in runtime suspend previously, its runtime PM status needs to be changed to "active" as it is going to be put into the full-power state going forward, so add a check for that too in there. In turn, if acpi_subsys_thaw_noirq() runs after the device has been left in runtime suspend, the subsequent "thaw" callbacks need to be skipped for it (as they may not work correctly with a suspended device), so set the power.direct_complete flag for the device then to make the PM core skip those callbacks. On top of the above, make the analogous changes in the acpi_lpss driver that uses the ACPI PM domain callbacks. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. ACPI / LPIT: Add Low Power Idle Table (LPIT) support
Add functionality to read LPIT table, which provides: - Sysfs interface to read residency counters via /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuidle/low_power_idle_cpu_residency_us /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuidle/low_power_idle_system_residency_us Here the count "low_power_idle_cpu_residency_us" shows the time spent by CPU package in low power state. This is read via MSR interface, which points to MSR for PKG C10. Here the count "low_power_idle_system_residency_us" show the count the system was in low power state. This is read via MMIO interface. This is mapped to SLP_S0 residency on modern Intel systems. This residency is achieved only when CPU is in PKG C10 and all functional blocks are in low power state. It is possible that none of the above counters present or anyone of the counter present or all counters present. For example: On my Kabylake system both of the above counters present. After suspend to idle these counts updated and prints: 6916179 6998564 This counter can be read by tools like turbostat to display. Or it can be used to debug, if modern systems are reaching desired low power state. - Provides an interface to read residency counter memory address This address can be used to get the base address of PMC memory mapped IO. This is utilized by intel_pmc_core driver to print more debug information. In addition, to avoid code duplication to read iomem, removed the read of iomem from acpi_os_read_memory() in osl.c and made a common function acpi_os_read_iomem(). This new function is used for reading iomem in in both osl.c and acpi_lpit.c. ACPI / blacklist: add acpi_match_platform_list()
ACPI OEM ID / OEM Table ID / Revision can be used to identify a platform based on ACPI firmware info. acpi_blacklisted(), intel_pstate_platform_pwr_mgmt_exists(), and some other funcs, have been using similar check to detect a list of platforms that require special handlings. Move the platform check in acpi_blacklisted() to a new common utility function, acpi_match_platform_list(), so that other drivers do not have to implement their own version. There is no change in functionality. Signed-off-by: Toshi Kani <toshi.kani@hpe.com> Reviewed-by: Borislav Petkov <bp@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. Wysocki <rafael.j.wysocki@intel.com> |

ACPI: Introduce DMA ranges parsing
Some devices have limited addressing capabilities and cannot reference the whole memory address space while carrying out DMA operations (eg some devices with bus address bits range smaller than system bus - which prevents them from using bus addresses that are otherwise valid for the system). The ACPI _DMA object allows bus devices to define the DMA window that is actually addressable by devices that sit upstream the bus, therefore providing a means to parse and initialize the devices DMA masks and addressable DMA range size. By relying on the generic ACPI kernel layer to retrieve and parse resources, introduce ACPI core code to parse the _DMA object. tty: pl011: fix initialization order of QDF2400 E44
The work-around for Qualcomm Technologies QDF2400 Erratum 44 hinges on a
global variable defined in the pl011 driver. The ACPI SPCR parsing code
determines whether the work-around is needed, and if so, it changes the
console name from "pl011" to "qdf2400_e44". The expectation is that
the pl011 driver will implement the work-around when it sees the console
name. The global variable qdf2400_e44_present is set when that happens.
The problem is that work-around needs to be enabled when the pl011
driver probes, not when the console name is queried. However, sbsa_probe()
is called before pl011_console_match(). The work-around appeared to work
previously because the default console on QDF2400 platforms was always
ttyAMA1. The first time sbsa_probe() is called (for ttyAMA0),
qdf2400_e44_present is still false. Then pl011_console_match() is called,
and it sets qdf2400_e44_present to true. All subsequent calls to
sbsa_probe() enable the work-around.
The solution is to move the global variable into spcr.c and let the
pl011 driver query it during probe time. This works because all QDF2400
platforms require SPCR, so parse_spcr() will always be called.
pl011_console_match still checks for the "qdf2400_e44" console name,
but it doesn't do anything else special.

device property: Get rid of struct fwnode_handle type field
Instead of relying on the struct fwnode_handle type field, define fwnode_operations structs for all separate types of fwnodes. To find out the type, compare to the ops field to relevant ops structs. This change has two benefits: 1. it avoids adding the type field to each and every instance of struct fwnode_handle, thus saving memory and 2. makes the ops field the single factor that defines both the types of the fwnode as well as defines the implementation of its operations, decreasing the possibility of bugs when developing code dealing with fwnode internals. Driver improvements - A whole slew of drivers have their spinlocks chaned to raw spinlocks as they provide irqchips, and thus we are progressing on realtime compliance. - Use devm_irq_alloc_descs() in a slew of drivers, getting managed resources. - Support for the embedded PWM controller inside the MVEBU driver. - Debounce, open source and open drain support for the Aspeed driver. - Misc smaller fixes like spelling and syntax and whatnot. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIcBAABAgAGBQJZCusBAAoJEEEQszewGV1zengP/i3YgmSXJdaf26t/NxG3klU3 qx3akdQ3gEQ6BOlIY7Ew+b6qgMJynYNZa1trZgqTgLxPEKWjidyCgz+LHQ0OY+ir a7x6wr+gBj5WlgV+nBjVs4l6W8pVKCfnap/04OPEQDpxZOHs2LU5pqxxUZ9AxkKS urDFMDX55baFviQ+xAuHgamok87YoGP36A/e/fHIBepZmnochf0mCcPfIh0t8lRh s2x29PN5ZFRkl403RzjZfVCEMr9bMnSqmDquvPO++Kq0bL+3rOhuMErocd1Bg8ao LxBktkryujTaw699xK7Rq5SwcnOAPpaBY4NTmwsIJvAJuCh7qLy9JxQSBsSOT2bx 61NWUt5T/Xsi0ECYZM4YvsNpUP6XrpSTyG3c8T3fY9vXYLNKZBv1ht6OODpLeuke DxULAWP+DdzUS8a3qfKQvIJzSTloU31a1MBG58DWNJ072EQfa2YNaVE75VQk/z5/ 0xZbSHdPY/0Xgx8ltpKu37bSO676JiVQZZ1HEAuti4h21+USYueYD2L8/Bx4k9e/ 4UaOcw3MaCDHP/sf5hg17kQBjhhS0lV9Zv6H9QbHZUocJTJlIU+vXtgkQlrfi3n8 8j5m+ywVarmLtPqg1j2rqcw7LBCPe0qRXH3e5X/YmNMc3rH9bQz4cTo8ZSN9r8zS c17zGbbAqlGsBkpFAbQz =DGPb -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'gpio-v4.12-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij: "This is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v4.12 kernel cycle. Driver improvements: - A whole slew of drivers have their spinlocks chaned to raw spinlocks as they provide irqchips, and thus we are progressing on realtime compliance. - Use devm_irq_alloc_descs() in a slew of drivers, getting managed resources. - Support for the embedded PWM controller inside the MVEBU driver. - Debounce, open source and open drain support for the Aspeed driver. - Misc smaller fixes like spelling and syntax and whatnot" * tag 'gpio-v4.12-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio: (77 commits) gpio: f7188x: Add a missing break gpio: omap: return error if requested debounce time is not possible gpio: Add ROHM BD9571MWV-M PMIC GPIO driver gpio: gpio-wcove: fix GPIO IRQ status mask gpio: DT bindings, move tca9554 from pcf857x to pca953x gpio: move tca9554 from pcf857x to pca953x gpio: arizona: Correct check whether the pin is an input gpio: Add XRA1403 DTS binding documentation dt-bindings: add exar to vendor prefixes list gpio: gpio-wcove: fix irq pending status bit width gpio: dwapb: use dwapb_read instead of readl_relaxed gpio: aspeed: Add open-source and open-drain support gpio: aspeed: Add debounce support gpio: aspeed: dt: Add optional clocks property gpio: aspeed: dt: Fix description alignment in bindings document gpio: mvebu: Add limited PWM support gpio: Use unsigned int for interrupt numbers gpio: f7188x: Add F71889A GPIO support. gpio: core: Decouple open drain/source flag with active low/high gpio: arizona: Correct handling for reading input GPIOs ... |

drivers: acpi: Handle IOMMU lookup failure with deferred probing or error
This is an equivalent to the DT's handling of the iommu master's probe with deferred probing when the corrsponding iommu is not probed yet. The lack of a registered IOMMU can be caused by the lack of a driver for the IOMMU, the IOMMU device probe not having been performed yet, having been deferred, or having failed. The first case occurs when the firmware describes the bus master and IOMMU topology correctly but no device driver exists for the IOMMU yet or the device driver has not been compiled in. Return NULL, the caller will configure the device without an IOMMU. The second and third cases are handled by deferring the probe of the bus master device which will eventually get reprobed after the IOMMU. The last case is currently handled by deferring the probe of the bus master device as well. A mechanism to either configure the bus master device without an IOMMU or to fail the bus master device probe depending on whether the IOMMU is optional or mandatory would be a good enhancement. ACPI / utils: Add new acpi_dev_present helper
acpi_dev_found just iterates over all ACPI-ids and sees if one matches. This means that it will return true for devices which are in the DSDT but disabled (their _STA method returns 0). For some drivers it is useful to be able to check if a certain HID is not only present in the namespace, but also actually present as in acpi_device_is_present() will return true for the device. For example because if a certain device is present then the driver will want to use an extcon or IIO ADC channel provided by that device. This commit adds a new acpi_dev_present helper which drivers can use to this end. Like acpi_dev_found, acpi_dev_present take a HID as argument, but it also has 2 extra optional arguments to only check for an ACPI device with a specific UID and/or HRV value. This makes it more generic and allows it to replace custom code doing similar checks in several places. Arguably acpi_dev_present is what acpi_dev_found should have been, but there are too many users to just change acpi_dev_found without the risk of breaking something. acpi/arm64: Add memory-mapped timer support in GTDT driver
On platforms booting with ACPI, architected memory-mapped timers' configuration data is provided by firmware through the ACPI GTDT static table. The clocksource architected timer kernel driver requires a firmware interface to collect timer configuration and configure its driver. this infrastructure is present for device tree systems, but it is missing on systems booting with ACPI. Implement the kernel infrastructure required to parse the static ACPI GTDT table so that the architected timer clocksource driver can make use of it on systems booting with ACPI, therefore enabling the corresponding timers configuration. ACPI / property: Add support for remote endpoints
DT has had concept of remote endpoints for some time already. It makes possible to reference another firmware node through a property called remote-endpoint. ACPI / property: Add fwnode_get_next_child_node()
The ACPI _DSD hierarchical data extension makes it possible to have hierarchies deeper than one level in similar way than DT allows. These "subsubnodes" have not been accessible because device property implementation only provides device_get_next_child_node() that is limited to direct descendants of a device. We need this ability in order support things like remote endpoints currently supported in DT with of_graph_* APIs. Modify acpi_get_next_subnode() to accept fwnode handle instead and update callers accordingly. Also add a new function fwnode_get_next_child_node() that works directly with fwnodes and modify device_get_next_child_node() to call it directly. While there add a macro fwnode_for_each_child_node() analogous to the current device_for_each_child_node() but it works with fwnodes instead of devices. ACPI / property: Add possiblity to retrieve parent firmware node
Sometimes it is useful to be able to navigate firmware node hierarchy upwards toward parent nodes. ACPI device nodes are pretty much already supported because ACPICA provides acpi_get_parent(). ACPI data nodes, however, are all below the same parent ACPI device. Their hierarchy is created by "linking" each other using references in the value field. Add parent pointer to the parent data node while we create them so it is easy to navigate the hierarchy backwards. We use this parent pointer in a new function acpi_node_get_parent() that is able to extract parent of both ACPI firmware node types. acpi/processor: Check for duplicate processor ids at hotplug time
The check for duplicate processor ids happens at boot time based on the ACPI table contents, but the final sanity checks for a processor happen at hotplug time. ACPI: Add acpi_resource_consumer() to find device that claims a resource
Add acpi_resource_consumer(). This takes a struct resource and searches the ACPI namespace for a device whose current resource settings (_CRS) includes the resource. It returns the device if it exists, or NULL if no device uses the resource. If more than one device uses the resource (this may happen in the case of bridges), acpi_resource_consumer() returns the first one found by acpi_get_devices() in its modified depth-first walk of the namespace. ACPI: Implement acpi_dma_configure
On DT based systems, the of_dma_configure() API implements DMA configuration for a given device. On ACPI systems an API equivalent to of_dma_configure() is missing which implies that it is currently not possible to set-up DMA operations for devices through the ACPI generic kernel layer. This patch fills the gap by introducing acpi_dma_configure/deconfigure() calls that for now are just wrappers around arch_setup_dma_ops() and arch_teardown_dma_ops() and also updates ACPI and PCI core code to use the newly introduced acpi_dma_configure/acpi_dma_deconfigure functions. Since acpi_dma_configure() is used to configure DMA operations, the function initializes the dma/coherent_dma masks to sane default values if the current masks are uninitialized (also to keep the default values consistent with DT systems) to make sure the device has a complete default DMA set-up. The DMA range size passed to arch_setup_dma_ops() is sized according to the device coherent_dma_mask (starting at address 0x0), mirroring the DT probing path behaviour when a dma-ranges property is not provided for the device being probed; this changes the current arch_setup_dma_ops() call parameters in the ACPI probing case, but since arch_setup_dma_ops() is a NOP on all architectures but ARM/ARM64 this patch does not change the current kernel behaviour on them. ACPI: Add FWNODE_ACPI_STATIC fwnode type
On systems booting with a device tree, every struct device is associated with a struct device_node, that provides its DT firmware representation. The device node can be used in generic kernel contexts (eg IRQ translation, IOMMU streamid mapping), to retrieve the properties associated with the device and carry out kernel operations accordingly. Owing to the 1:1 relationship between the device and its device_node, the device_node can also be used as a look-up token for the device (eg looking up a device through its device_node), to retrieve the device in kernel paths where the device_node is available. On systems booting with ACPI, the same abstraction provided by the device_node is required to provide look-up functionality. The struct acpi_device, that represents firmware objects in the ACPI namespace already includes a struct fwnode_handle of type FWNODE_ACPI as their member; the same abstraction is missing though for devices that are instantiated out of static ACPI tables entries (eg ARM SMMU devices). Add a new fwnode_handle type to associate devices created out of static ACPI table entries to the respective firmware components and create a simple ACPI core layer interface to dynamically allocate and free the corresponding firmware nodes so that kernel subsystems can use it to instantiate the nodes and associate them with the respective devices. ACPI / platform: Add support for build-in properties
We have a couple of drivers, acpi_apd.c and acpi_lpss.c,
that need to pass extra build-in properties to the devices
they create. Previously the drivers added those properties
to the struct device which is member of the struct
acpi_device, but that does not work. Those properties need
to be assigned to the struct device of the platform device
instead in order for them to become available to the
drivers.
To fix this, this patch changes acpi_create_platform_device
function to take struct property_entry pointer as parameter.

ACPI/PCI: pci_link: penalize SCI correctly
Ondrej reported that IRQs stopped working in v4.7 on several
platforms. A typical scenario, from Ondrej's VT82C694X/694X, is:
ACPI: Using PIC for interrupt routing
ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNKA] (IRQs 1 3 4 5 6 7 10 *11 12 14 15)
ACPI: No IRQ available for PCI Interrupt Link [LNKA]
8139too 0000:00:0f.0: PCI INT A: no GSI
We're using PIC routing, so acpi_irq_balance == 0, and LNKA is already
active at IRQ 11. In that case, acpi_pci_link_allocate() only tries
to use the active IRQ (IRQ 11) which also happens to be the SCI.
We should penalize the SCI by PIRQ_PENALTY_PCI_USING, but
irq_get_trigger_type(11) returns something other than
IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_LOW, so we penalize it by PIRQ_PENALTY_ISA_ALWAYS
instead, which makes acpi_pci_link_allocate() assume the IRQ isn't
available and give up.
Add acpi_penalize_sci_irq() so platforms can tell us the SCI IRQ,
trigger, and polarity directly and we don't have to depend on
irq_get_trigger_type().

ACPI / property: Allow holes in reference properties
DT allows holes or empty phandles for references. This is used for example in SPI subsystem where some chip selects are native and others are regular GPIOs. In ACPI _DSD we currently do not support this but instead the preceding reference consumes all following integer arguments. For example we would like to support something like the below ASL fragment for SPI: Package () { "cs-gpios", Package () { ^GPIO, 19, 0, 0, // GPIO CS0 0, // Native CS ^GPIO, 20, 0, 0, // GPIO CS1 } } The zero in the middle means "no entry" or NULL reference. To support this we change acpi_data_get_property_reference() to take firmware node and num_args as argument and rename it to __acpi_node_get_property_reference(). The function returns -ENOENT if the given index resolves to "no entry" reference and -ENODATA when there are no more entries in the property. We then add static inline wrapper acpi_node_get_property_reference() that passes MAX_ACPI_REFERENCE_ARGS as num_args to support the existing behaviour which some drivers have been relying on. ACPI: parse SPCR and enable matching console
'ARM Server Base Boot Requiremets' [1] mentions SPCR (Serial Port Console Redirection Table) [2] as a mandatory ACPI table that specifies the configuration of serial console. Defer initialization of DT earlycon until ACPI/DT decision is made. Parse the ACPI SPCR table, setup earlycon if required, enable specified console. Thanks to Peter Hurley for explaining how this should work. ACPI / watchdog: Add support for WDAT hardware watchdog
Starting from Intel Skylake the iTCO watchdog timer registers were moved to reside in the same register space with SMBus host controller. Not all needed registers are available though and we need to unhide P2SB (Primary to Sideband) device briefly to be able to read status of required NO_REBOOT bit. The i2c-i801.c SMBus driver used to handle this and creation of the iTCO watchdog platform device. Windows, on the other hand, does not use the iTCO watchdog hardware directly even if it is available. Instead it relies on ACPI Watchdog Action Table (WDAT) table to describe the watchdog hardware to the OS. This table contains necessary information about the the hardware and also set of actions which are executed by a driver as needed. This patch implements a new watchdog driver that takes advantage of the ACPI WDAT table. We split the functionality into two parts: first part enumerates the WDAT table and if found, populates resources and creates platform device for the actual driver. The second part is the driver itself. The reason for the split is that this way we can make the driver itself to be a module and loaded automatically if the WDAT table is found. Otherwise the module is not loaded. Signed-off-by: Mika Westerberg <mika.westerberg@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. acpi: Validate processor id when mapping the processor
When we want to identify whether the proc_id is unreasonable or not, we can call the "acpi_processor_validate_proc_id" function. It will search in the duplicate IDs. If we find the proc_id in the IDs, we return true to the call function. Conversely, the false represents available. When we establish all possible cpuid <-> nodeid mapping to handle the cpu hotplugs, we will use the proc_id from ACPI table. We do validation when we get the proc_id. If the result is true, we will stop the mapping. x86/acpi: Set persistent cpuid <-> nodeid mapping when booting
The whole patch-set aims at making cpuid <-> nodeid mapping persistent. So that, when node online/offline happens, cache based on cpuid <-> nodeid mapping such as wq_numa_possible_cpumask will not cause any problem. It contains 4 steps: 1. Enable apic registeration flow to handle both enabled and disabled cpus. 2. Introduce a new array storing all possible cpuid <-> apicid mapping. 3. Enable _MAT and MADT relative apis to return non-present or disabled cpus' apicid. 4. Establish all possible cpuid <-> nodeid mapping. This patch finishes step 4. This patch set the persistent cpuid <-> nodeid mapping for all enabled/disabled processors at boot time via an additional acpi namespace walk for processors.
